Everyone was very friendly and helpful when I went. They even fed us. All the vehicles are sold as is. So it would be wise to take someone with you who knows a thing or two about cars if you don't. They do in house financing. So if your credit is crap this is a great place to go. Just be prepared for a high interest rate. Overall, I had a great experience and love my car. Just paid a little more than I would have preferred.

Mine has 268,000 miles, got it at 30,000. Love this truck! Had to replace front heater core, did it myself :), that was at 200,000, engine starts knocking around 250,000, ford says timing chain guide. Still drive it, just bought another expedition :) Awesome vehicles!

I have a 5.4L XLT that just passed 160K. Hardly any problems at all except for the air suspension needed to be worked on. Engine, transmission, and suspension are solid and runs great considering the mileage. Very roomy and can fit lots of people.

We bought our expedition used. With 74,000 miles on it. We have all the spark plugs sleeved so we dont have to worry about it. It cost us $850. It runs like a top. Its a 5.4. So mileage is terrible. It broke down once only. Fuel pump. But at 130,000. I wont complain. Everyone wants to buy it from us. Not for sale says my son. So my wife drives a different car. I bought a 4 banger. And the expedition will be there as an extra or when needed.....next to my 02 f150 harley davidson. Great vehicles so long as u maintain them. Like any other vehicle.

The only bad part of owning this vehicle is the gas consumption. Mine is the 5.4 Triton XLT and I have been the owner from 40,000 miles till a little over 100,000 now. If you need a solid vehicle with lots of room inside that tows a boat with no problems than you couldnt ask for more. Much more room inside than my friends Yukon and no road noise like the Pilot. Michelin tires make it smooth as silk on the highway. Its a little clumsy around town but what do you want from 6000 plus pounds. Ford should be proud of these vehicles. Mine has no rattles, none and cloth interior looks like new which is amazing at near 10 years old.

My Ford Expedition, believe it or not, actually has 200,216 miles and runs like brand new. It has the 4.6L and yes the spark plug has came out of my cylinder head, but that does not change that I LOVE THIS TRUCK! Got the K&N Intake, FlowMaster (single in-dual out, dumped), BF Goodrich 265-70 All Terrain T/A, and about $2,600 in interior goodies. The ride is unbelievable. 65 psi tires set at 42 psi make the handling awesome. And that FlowMaster really promotes the power that the 4.6L actually has when you put extra goodies on. The keyless entry and lighted side rails really puts a smile on my face. =)

Great vehicle purchased it with 5 miles on it. Every single mile is accounted for. Have had some minor issues with it. Stock radio was overheating and shutting off so they had to install some type of fan behind it. A/C system had to be replaced under warranty. Since these issues back in '02-'03 haven't had any other problems with it. Have driven 3 times to Guadalajara, Mexico about 3500 mile round trip without any worries.

Bought this vehicle in 2007 with 70,000 miles on her. Great truck...nice fit and finish. Very solid feel. Drives very much like a truck and not like a car. Can be a bit hard to maneuver in small parking lots. Has been very reliable though we really haven't driven it much. Truck has just over 90,000 miles now 3 years later. Nothing has broke...no fluid leaks. This is the first vehicle I've owned with this kind of mileage that didn't leak oil or tranny fluid.

I loved my expedition up until it left me stranded on a major highway due to a spark plug popping out!! And it is not an easy fix let alone how costly it is. Ford is aware of the major defect in these transmissions but will not correct the problem. To correct the problem the entire head must come off. Also if it is #4 spark plug than you must remove front of vehicle body to get to it properly. What a Joke!! Stay away from these vehicles. It will happen to you. They say the average mileage when this happens is 95000 miles. Mine has 94500. Imagine that. It is junk! Buyer Be Ware!

I am happy with my vehicle. It was used and purchased for less than $5K. I wanted a Lincoln Navigator, but settled for the Expedition. I found that I made the best decision! Gas mileage is not that bad. If you buy a 2002 Expedition, just make sure it is mechanically sound. My truck is definitely Ford tough.

I bought my expo for the look, size, and extras but soon realized that I made a horrible mistake. I have had the air conditioner worked on 4 times with hot air coming out of the rear vents, celinoid has gone bad, possible cracked head gasket, pass side mirror will not adjust to set position, and oh yeah the gas mileage does hurt; duh. The room is great and the interior is fantastic but the little tick tack problems are killing me leaving me stranded in 13 degree weather twice. Oh well, live and learn!

This was a great vehicle for us. The power was very good for pulling our ski boat or driving in heavy traffic. Being able to see above most other vehicles was very nice. The size and design proved to be a great benefit when I had a head-on collision at about 50 mph. I walked away with small abrasions to left leg (PTL).

Vehicle driving is comfortable, it is very good in winter conditions. However since the vehicle was purchased new, gas mileage has averaged 10 miles to the gallon. If I wasn't retired and still working the increased mileage and cost of fuel would be prohibitive.

I assumed I would eventually get an SUV but put it off for some time. My last car was an AUDI and I loved that kind of performance. However, I decided to take a test drive for kicks. Granted performance was not the same as my old car but I was sold on the feeling of safety and being able to see traffic better. After researching this vehicle I made the move and I'm even happier than I thought I would. It fits more cargo and passengers than I thought it would comfortably. The ride is also surprisingly smooth considering its roots in the F-150. I have also found it reasonable to get in and out of (although I have heard the 4WD model is tougher). Gas is as expected. No complaints so far!

Our Expedition has exceeded my expectations. I commuted 172 miles round-trip for over 1 1/2 years and the comfort is indescribable. Additionally I drove from CA - New Mexico more than once without worry; with the entertainment system it kept the kids from fighting and getting restless during the long ride. I never have to worry about having enough room for our luggage and toys, it all fits. The roof rack provides an extra place to transport belongings as well. I love my Expedition, except the gas mileage.

I usually get a new car every 2 years. I have kept this one longer than any other. We have three active boys. We have taken 3 cross country trips without any problems. The VHS entertainment package is a life saver on those trips. The 4.6L engine has enough power to haul trailers, boats and horses.

This vehicle was in my family since new; bought two new ones to get fleet discount. Wife and I just bought one of them from family. We were looking at BMW 5 series for safety and sportiness and at other sports sedans. We tried this out and were sold immediately. Entertainment package keeps kids happy and quiet. It is like a moving living room, comfy and safe. Steel girders in doors for side impact. "Handsome" styling. We said we would never buy one but once we drove it we loved it. Very easy for my petite wife to drive, drives like much smaller vehicle. Very luxurious inside and a lot of room. We are on CA freeways and I never worry about my wife and kids being safe in this thing. It is a luxury liner

I love this vehicle, it is the nicest riding truck I have been in yet. It handles well, and feels very stable. The 4.6 runs very smooth, and could use a little more low end torque for towing, but I will address that myself. What amazes me however is the number of people on here complaining about gas mileage. What did you expect? This is a 5000 lb. vehicle, and I see people gunning them off the line like a sports car. Thats what kills your mileage. If you drive it carefully, you can get 15-16 around town, and 20 or better on the highway. You cant forget what your driving; either you want better mileage or you want more power, you usually can't have both.

Former Explorer owner, upgraded to Expedition. Very good ride; design, comfort, size. Mediocre/expected gas mileage. However, after 40K, the right cylinder head cracked, and began leaking oil. Repair of $2300 out of pocket was followed up with complaints. Initially Ford repair shop indicated rebate of $1500, but after several weeks, their "mistake" was corrected to $700 rebate. BAD taste in mouth for Ford's quality, as more investigation indicates that this is a "known Issue" with the Triton V8's from this period. Don't know if it's been fixed or not, but any time you have major repairs before 50K, beware!

First SUV that I have owed and it has been a great experience. Basically the only problem that I have encountered was the rear windows squeeking when opening; they replaced the mechanisms (both windows) and the same thing happened. This occurs mainly during the winter months. Driver's window has a tendency to go up very fast during cold days. Also noticed a hummng noise in tranny when overdrive is turned off; dealer says that this is not a problem and I have not had any tranny issue. I do not have the load leveling and my SUV runs pretty smooth, great on long trips, and comfortable. Get about 18-19 on highway, powerful motor (5.4), sometimes don't realize the speed I'm going, good pickup for a big SUV. Love her!

This is the largest vehicle I have owned and my wife and I really love it! Before purchasing it, I read reviews like these and with Ford truck's word- of-mouth reputation, I purchased one. I haven't regretted it. I use it mostly on long trips. It is fun to drive and I feel safer on the road. Mine is a 2-wheel drive, but it handles great in rain or snow covered roads. Replaced the drivers heated seat element already and the passenger side is getting weaker. $600. dealer cost for one seat repair! Out of warranty, but the dealer paid half. Replaced the brakes, but no mechanical problems yet. Would buy another one!

The Ford Expedition has been a great vehicle for me. The contents of a college dorm room can be crammed into this SUV! Hauling kids and gear on a daily basis is comfortable. Where I live, lots of people drive big vehicles and I feel safer being in one as well. The only problem I've ever had with the Expedition is the power side mirrors: the directional button doesn't work well.

2nd Expedition for this family. First was a '99 XLT - no major problems (windshield wiper issue - and rear wiper motor went - that's it) in 66K miles. '02 Eddie Bauer (subject of this review): After 44K miles: Rear sensing system failed. Drivers heated seat element failed. Minor build issues (annoying) - headlight/foglamp switch fell apart, read quarte pop-out windows always noisy when operating. Transmission FAILED at 44K miles. Ford/dealer not standing behind their product means that I will look at the competition when the lease expires. Ford / dealer - you lost a repear customer.

Am I the only one that hates driving this vehicle? I feel like I'm driving a school bus because it's so huge, and when I go to pump gas, it kills me. I long for the compact car where I can jump in and get my moneys worth. Also, I know cars depreciate but I didn't think it would be 18,000 less in 2 years. I finally convince my husband to trade-in to a car that we can both love and save money on. After this car,..I'm looking into a hybrid. Overall, I wish I saved my money and bought a Lexus. Worth the price and depreciate less.

Almost to 60k miles now and it drives like a new suv. Very good build quality. Consistent power, smooth shifting, easy towing. Quad captains chairs provide easy access to third row seat). Steering was a little "weird" recently; I checked my tire pressures and found that all four tires were low and different. Filled to recommended PSI (30/front and 35/rear for mine) and steering was perfect again. Fuel economy is typical (not good... 15-16 tops on the highway). Bottom line: I'm keeping mine for a while.

This vehicle not only looks great, but is a pleasure to drive. Extremely comfortable leather seats, tons of room, terrific sound system with 6 CD changer. The big V-8 and tow package make pulling trailers a snap. My only complaint is an annoying tendency for the drivers side window to occasionally "pop" into place when closed while driving. It must be due to air pressure because it never happens when the vehicle is standing still. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. Fuel efficiency is not bad at 13.6 mpg on the highway. Let's face it, it's a luxury station wagon on steroids.

Pros: One of the best vehicles I've driven. Comfortable for both front and 2nd row seats (little tight for third row passengers). Cons: For a new truck, I think three visits to the dealer for warranty work is too much. 1. In winter, front driver window would take several times of pressing the down button before it would open. 2. Solenoid needed replacing. 3. With 16,000 miles, one of the tires blew. Other than those three issues, I couldn't be happier.

The most comfortable of all the SUV's that I have owned to drive. This includes Suburban, Yukon, and Explorer. Roomy, quiet, smooth and comfortable. Only downside -- horrible gas mileage with the 5.4. Averaging 13.9 mpg --- with the Suburban 5.7 I got around 16.3 for similar driving. If Ford could get the economy up a little this would be the best SUV going. Now it's great -- but drinks too much fuel.

Very satisfied with quality, comfort, convenience. Criticism of "twitchy steering" is overstated. Reasonable driving habits is all that is required. Fuel consumption is greater than the EPA estimate by 2 mpg on both City and Highway (12 vs 14 and 15 vs 17) Very capable towing. Hugh internal space for people and gear. No factory flaws - No complaints.

We have had our Expedition for 2 months now and we love it. It rides great over most roads and the only time you can tell it's truck origins is when you go over tall bumps. I drove it cross country and it was a dream on the road. The seats are very comfortable for long trips and the cruise control works perfectly. The adjustable pedals really make it easy to find the perfect driving position. Overall this is a great vehicle that we are very happy to own.

i bought my expo in february and it is awesome. love the eddie bauer option. have had to get the tailgate adjusted because it was closing too tight and scrpaing the paint. also had to replace rear wiper moter because it got stuck in rear glass window and striped the moter. these were coverd under warranty so there was no problem whatsoever

This vehicle is a one of a kind!! Cpt chairs for the 1st and 2nd rows are AWESOME!!! Moon Roof, Entertainment system and all the electronic toys available. This is an outstanding vehicle. The 4000 mile crosscountry trip (nine states) was fantastic and how many people can say that when they have a two year old sitting behind them. The best part was the price.

I previously owned '97 2wd XLT and '99 4wd EB. My '02 doesn't live up to the Ford standard I am used to. The ride in my "Premier Package" EB is horribly rough... although I have been told, each time I take it to the shop, it is due to the "load leveling air suspension" -- and is to be expected. Not at all like my '99 4wd, which was a great, smooth ride. Also, sunroof sliding cover never stays tightly closed... I assume it is due to the rough ride. Another gripe -- why in a $40,000+ truck do you not have a power passenger seat??? I would caution anyone about the suspension, unless you like feeling every bump in the road as if it were a large rock in your way!

Initially was not considering Ford (had 2000 Windstar with 3 trans, 2 valve bodies and torque conv. in 19k miles). Drove lots of sport utes and vans, bottom line is Ford had best deal (0.9% for 5 years) and willing to negotiate on price more than anyone else. Got ext. warr., of course. It turns out we love this beast. Mileage is abt same as Windstar. It is very comfortable and great for road trips. Hope its holds up as well as my previous Fords (van excluded).

To tackle the city streets or the mountain tops this is the vehicle to drive. I just traded my 97 expo xlt for a 2002 eb, and went from good to better. I can't wait to sit in traffic.

When I bought this vehicle I though that the interiors will hold up better. I will suggest that if you plan to buy one these tanks that you buy the factory's extended warranty, as repair for these car are expensive. There has been problems with the engines in the past. Such as Blown head gasket and transmissions going bad as early as 16,000 miles of use.

Still luv it...

We had a '97 XLT Expedition and liked it so much that we got an '02 Eddie Bauer. The kids love the rear entertainment center for movies and PS2 games. The leather is attractive and comfortable and just like our prior model, we plan to drive across country. The reverse sensors have helped my wife tremendously in parking lots also. I do however think the '03 model is beautiful and wish we had waited.

Good overall vehicle.

I have been a bit disappointed in the interior fit-and-finsh, but overall am pretty happy with this vehicle. Now that I see the '03's coming out, though, I wonder if we should have waited ...

This thing rocks!

I had a 98 expy prior to purchasing the 2002, and I'm still in love with the vehicle. Additionally, the 2002 has the rear entertainment system which is great for the kids when were headed to the mountains for camping or any other long trip. beleive fellas, for those with kids, your wife will love this feature!

Great car ride.

After driving full-size or luxury sedans for 20 years, I was reluctant to go the SUV route. Decided if I were to go, I had to go all the way in terms of size and comfort. That's why I chose the Eddie Bauer (XLT is nicely done as well) Expedition. We tow a boat in the summer and ski in the winter. This vehicle has handled both the towing and long drives to the mountains with ease. In fact, the highway driving is more comfortable than most luxury sedans. Definitely recommend this vehicle.

Excellent "overall" SUV! Firm handling, yet comfortable ride for the family. My wife likes to drive it when its raining so she can see above the traffic! My gas mileage on the highway is better than the listed MPG of 16 for the 4WD--I get about 19. This is the best Ford product I have owned!

It's a Bus.

Compared with Tahoe and Sequoia. Expedition won out. My wife drove them all and choose the Expedition. The comfort and ability to "see" the road were the selling points. Very roomy and comfortable. Leather seating and comfort package a must. 4.6 V8 has plenty of power. Big but remarkably easy to handle and park (Tahoe was too.) Coming off owning two minivans, this is a bus!
