Avoid VW service department at any cost. Their regional manager, service rep and service manager work together and will never be on your side. If you really have to service your car there, make sure you take a million pictures before you buy a car there and before you drop it off at service department. Make sure you document everything, because if something happens, you will have proof that it was there, otherwise they won't fix anything under warranty!

Everything was great! The only thing that was of concern was that I asked for a ride to the dealership and was told there were no longer drivers to pick up, but then when I got there I heard a person ask if he needed to pick anybody else up. Other than not being able to get a ride, it was great overall service.

State College VW has come a long way in the 13 years I have owned my VW. My recent visits (last couple of years) have been excellent -- work completed in time promised as promised. This recent visit I needed a fuel filter changed -- I provided the filter, which surprised me they would accept. No questions. SC VW also performed a complete vehicle inspection, no charge including topping off fluids, tire pressure, etc. Because of the dramatically improved service I recently purchased another VW to replace my 03 VW Golf TDI with 187,000 mi (still running strong).

This was the first time a cars salesman listened to me and made sure he got me what I wanted. He made sure I knew everything there was about the car and made sure I knew that once the sale was over he was still there to answer any question I may have.

The personnel at the reception of the service department is extremely courteous and helpful. They do a great job at keeping customers informed about the status of their vehicle. I like the fact that a car wash service is offered as part of the overall service of a vehicle.

I have a great deal of respect and fondness for this dealership and "all of it's parts" Because I live over the Mountain, and work full time service was complex. Your Service Manager, Jodi, who learned we lived near each other, offered to "trade cars" on those needed service dates. Everything was done as promised. aaai have nothing but gratitude and praise,

I brought my VW Jetta in for Service on Monday morning at 8am. As usual, Jodi was on her game - focused, quick to get my car checked in and get me on my way (I used the free shuttle ride instead of waiting at the Dealership). All went as planned, and the work took exactly as long as Jodi said it would. The driver of the shuttle was friendly and prompt in picking me up to give me a ride back to the Dealership. Overall, this was a perfect visit! Thanks for providing excellent service.

I'd been online shopping for a new/used vehicle for several months when one from Volkswagen State College caught my eye, even though it was 3.5 hours from where I live. From the first email I sent down the last signature I made, everyone there was first-class, professional, and friendly. They were outstanding at corresponding and staying in touch with me and they were even better upon my arrival to look at a car. No trying to "shove something down your throat" like other dealerships...they put the decision-making in YOUR hands. I would not hesitate to drive 3.5 hours to work with Keith, Alan, Levon, Debbie & staff here again.

Jodi, the service rep does an excellent job taking care of what I need for my GTI. She's very thorough and answers all my questions in a professional and well informed manner. Scheduling service with her is a breeze because she's easy to talk to and eager to accommodate my schedule. I rely on their shuttle service and don't have to worry about missing work when my car needs service. The shuttle drivers are well mannered and very professional. I bought my car at this dealership and they've been taking care of it since 2009. Their price is very competitive and work is excellent.

Ryan was great. We love our Jettas. The only problem we felt during all of our purchases is the length of time sitting and waiting for the next steps. Years ago I drove to Altoona to buy a Ford Tauras because we couldn't get anyone to come out in the rain at State College Ford. Just like know ing we wanted a Jetta, we knew we wanted a Tauras. We actually drove to Altoona purchased the car and were back in State College in less time than it took us to purchase any of the four vehicles we have purchased from VW of State College. Other than that, we are very happy with our purchases.Thank you.

Mostly my review is so high because of the professional and courteous service provided by Jodi. She is on her game every time! She is watching and listening to everything, paying attention, focused, and ready to do whatever needs to get done in order to get her tasks done for the customer. The inspection took the expected amount of time, cost was good, and my experience was very pleasant.

This was a scheduled 40,000 mile check-up. This service was quite costly. The service manager explained the importance of replacing the gear lubricant which accounted for nearly half of the cost of the service. I had gotten a heads-up on this at the 30K check-up. Otherwise the vehicle has worked fine and fuel economy lived up to the ticker information. The only problem that I encountered was with the blue tooth connectivity which was corrected shortly after purchase.

When I tried call for an appointment the phone rang 8 or 9 times before it was answered and the I was transferred to a voicemail, not great customer service.

Mike M. went above and beyond for my husband and I. He was never pushy, and he never made us feel like a "sale". He worked to help us find a vehicle we loved in the price range we were comfortable with! The whole experience was pleasant, unlike a previous experience at another dealership in the area. I would highly recommend!

My VW Jetta overheated on a Sunday night on my way to state college so I had it towed to the dealership service center on West College Ave (conveniently less than 3 miles from where I live).Monday morning I called them 4 times and left a message and heard back from them hours later saying it would be days before they would even take a look at my car. But I was told I could call for updates but they would contact me if they worked on it. I have called every day for the last 4 days. I haven't gotten anyone at the service center to even answer my call the last 4 days AND they haven't called me back even though I have left messages asking for any update they can provide me. So it will be almost a week and they haven't found the time to even return my call and I have absolutely no clue what could be wrong with my car or when I will be getting it back. I will be advising everyone I know to avoid this dealership and their service center and I absolutely will never return.

My wife and I thought we were purchasing our dream VW for our growing family. Unfortunately we ended up with a great vehicle but a terrible car buying experience we are still fighting our way out of 6 months later. This dealership should be avoided at all costs. The service appointment went like it always does, fast, courteous, addressing just the service items that I asked for, but with additional feedback from the 27 point inspection that points out things that may need to be serviced in the near future. The service manager, Jodi, communicates clearly what was done and what was found in the inspection.I have used the Volvo service department for twelve years since relocating to State College from the Chicago area, where I purchased my Volvo. Your location and service has improved dramatically over the last few years, and is now on par with that highly professional suburban Chicago dealership.

I have always had a positive experience for my service appointments at State College Volkswagen. Service rep (Eric) handling the intake and paperwork is always pleasant, courteous, and efficient to work with. Shuttle transport is always offered, if needed. He is thorough and provides details about pick up times during and after hours. My experiences with service on my car has always been positive. I have never had to follow up after a recent service appointment--because the service is always done properly. My car is always clean when I return for pick up. Many thanks for all you do to serve your customers with a positive experience!

State College Volkswagen is my local Volkswagen dealership. When the time came for me to look for a new car, I knew I wanted to take a look at the Passat TDI and Jetta TDI. I loved the styling of the cars and their great fuel economy. When I arrived at the lot, I was greeted by sales associate Steve Howell. Steve was one of the best sales people I have ever dealt with. He is honest, cares about the customer and is knowledgeable about Volkswagen and TDI technology. Steve was able to let us test drive the Passat TDI SEL, and Jetta TDI Premium with Nav. He even let me bring both home for overnight test drives to show my husband and to get his input. He also suggested looking at a Beetle TDI, which I wouldn't even have thought of! I was pleasantly surprised by the Beetle. However when I got back from my test drive, that's when all things went down hill... and fast. Before I even got a chance to park the Beetle, the sleazy sales manager Mark Greiner quickly came over to try and sweet talk us into a preowned TDI. I told him that I wanted something new not used, and he proceed to drag both us and Steve into the showroom to "run some numbers." The numbers he quoted me were appalling. First of all, I went into the dealership with the intention of leasing. He refused to give me a lease quote, saying "it didn't make sense to lease the car." But the icing on the cake was when he told me I didn't need a TDI and I didn't need niceties like a sunroof and navigation... Who is he to tell me what I need? You're right I don't need them, BUT I WANT THEM. He quoted me outrageous figures on a gasoline, 2.5 Jetta that wasn't even the color I wanted. When I told him that I wanted a specific car, one that wasn't on their lot he said he would have to charge me a finders fee of $500-$750! On top of that, he quoted me $389/month for a 36 month lease on the base Jetta that I didn't want. After this encounter with Mark, I wanted nothing to do with Volkswagen anymore. However, my son felt we should still pursue the Jetta TDI we truly wanted. So when we got home he called Sutliff VW in Harrisburg and within the day they had figures in my ballpark and the exact car I wanted located in the state of PA. Any "Finder's fee" for finding me my Jetta? NOPE. It's sad that I had to drive an hour and a half to get the Jetta I wanted. State College VW has a beautiful showroom, and Steve Howell is honestly one of the best salesmen I have dealt with, but until they get a new sales manager, I will NEVER buy/lease a Volkswagen from them. And I certainly would not recommend this dealership to anyone. Go to Sutliff in Harrisburg, it's worth the drive.

lost my key and there is no back up so i have to go to this place for a replacement key. ordered on last monday and on friday there is still no feedback AT ALL until i made the call myself. I have to wait FOREVER for somebody to pick it up. finally when someone did, they said the warehouse is having an issue and has not shipped it out yet. they also said they have spoke to them and they will ship the key out immediately (on friday) and the key should be arriving on the following monday. on the following monday, NO CALL FROM THEM AT ALL until afternoon and i made the call myself again. they had to check with there warehouse again and i was told they just shipped the key out...... and there is no tracking information so nobody knows when it will be around. UNTIL THIS POINT, THERE IS NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY. MY SINCERE ADVICE: DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.

Basically a "bait and switch" method of sales. They create a reason for high interest rates after providing a low sales price, hoping the customer is incapable of basic math or lured by the desire for a new car. This is not a style of business that I find attractive.

I purchased a VW jetta from these guys - nice car, decent price, but service is horrendous. First, it is rare to get in within 2 weeks of calling. Second, if they need a part - and this has happened to me every single time they have needed a part- they say they are going to order it and will call when it is in, then you never hear from them. I have had to call and check every time - and then find out that they haven't even ordered it. Then they order it and once you get the car in, the work is fine and priced about the same as any dealer. Recently, it was in for inspection. They called at 4:30 to say the car was ready, they found nothing major and I could pick it up. When I went to pick it up, the paperwork said - no sticker because of a CV boot issue. Now, we suspected the CV boot issue when we took it in - AND I did not need to get the car back in a hurry, so why the heck did they just not tell me what was wrong and allow me to leave it there to be fixed. It is so hard to get an appointment and to get them to do work - I have $$, I believe in maintaining my cars, I am happy to pay for the service, I don't mind paying dealer rates, and I can't get them to do any work without hounding them. I am now seeking other options even if it means driving to Altoona or Harrisburg. They conducted a customer service survey, my wife told them about the last situation, they apologized and told her someone would be calling me - no one called. And every time I call - even with the car and my paperwork there, they cannot seem to find me in their system. Morons. They do not seem to want to be in business.

My complaint about this place is three fold. I have a 2001 Audi TT with 31,000 miles, its gas gauge stopped working and it also needed a new side mirror remote because I bumped the knob and it broke off, so I set-up an appointment with State College Motors (formerly Shields and Leitzinger Imports). The mechanics said (08/21/09) the cars problem could be one or both sensors in the fuel tank or a defective dash cluster. Since my dash didnt have DEF displayed on it for defective I said to replace both tank sensors and that they could have my car for a week because I was going to NYC (08/24-30/09) on business. Everything seemed fine. Before I was even out of PA Melissa called to say there had been a recall (2005 quiet recall) on the dash cluster that I didnt have taken care of and they think it would be best to replace the dash cluster first. I asked if there would be any charge to replace the dash because Audi usually puts a time frame on their recalls, Melissa said she would talk to an Audi rep to see what they could do. Melissa called me back to say Audi would share the costs with me 50/50 and it would be about $3300.00 I told Melissa to call Audi again to see if theyd eat the cost of the dash, since they knew their part was defective and I would pay the labor. They wouldnt go for it. When I picked up my car I was billed $3580 for the dash and mirror remote. I questioned the 50/50 because I thought my share would be $1650, NOPE but I pay up! I go out to my car and the gauge shows a full tank of gas. I didnt think they would filler-up without charging me, I checked my bill no charge for fuel. I stopped at a gas station to see how much it would take, it was near empty it held 12 gallons, so I knew I still had the same problem. When I got home I called Melissa, the gauge doesnt work and the window does not work on the drivers side since the door was apart to replace the remote, she said to bring the car back and they would give me a loaner to use until they fixed the problems. I asked about the cost of the sensors and it was going to be $370 for the one and $280 for the other and labor would be about 5 hours or so but she was going to talk with the owner to get me a deal since they were wrong about the dash. After 3 WEEKS Melissa calls to say my car is ready. I was given a bill for $1400 they charged full boat and $120 for programming the remote!!! Prior to all of this I had bought a 2009 Jetta (06/09) from them (Sam - outstanding salesman/nice guy) the chrome started to bubble on the grill. When I had the car in for its FREE service I asked Melissa to take care of the grill under the warrantee. She said she would order the grill and call when it came in. She never called. In May 2010 I made an appointment to take the car in for its FREE service and I reminded Melissa about the grill, she said there was a note in the computer about it. Well, no grill. A month later and still no call about the grill. I'm done with this place and I wont buy Audi/VW.

Never contacted when part for repair was delivered to shop. Not even sure they ordered it. Work is expensive and must wait at the dealership if you want it done in a timely manner. Doesn't make appointments, takes people who wait first. Bogus!!!
