I worked with Ed May who made my first car purchase in a decade painless, fun and totally enjoyable. On my first visit, I specifically made it clear that I was "shopping" - Ed was totally cool with it and gave me their sales proposal to take home so that I could compare them against other dealerships. He personally guaranteed that he would beat the best offer I received from other places and that's exactly what happened.. I drove my new SUV home a happy man. . Not only was I happy but I felt secure knowing that they offered a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty for as long as you owned the car. I tend to hold on to my cars for more than 5 to 10 years before I get a new one. My last car, a trusty Honda was still running beautifully when I turned her in for a trade-in. I strongly recommend you seek him out - he's articulate, knowledgeable (very), humble, easygoing and not at all pushy. A lot has changed in ten years and this dealership has definitely stepped up to the plate and met the challenge of modern day car shopping. It is people like Ed who are truly changing the face of the car buying business. Whereas car shopping was once a struggle and a hassle, it is now possible to actually enjoy it and feel good about your transaction!

I gave a good review to Royal Moore for purchase of a Mazda CX3. But, I have not been able to address a problem with a text message issue. Also, the license plates went to the dealer. They sent a card saying to call M-F and Saturday 8-3. But when I called on Saturday, that dept is closed weekends. So, why have it on your card? Also, I asked Finance Mgr Mr. Murphy for a copy of the bill of sale for hand control installation as I'm handicapped. I also did him a favor. He didn't have the bill of sale ready when I was there, so said he would send it. He did not. I called to ask for it again from someone else. No one could make a copy. I left a voicemail. No one returned my call. I called Mr. Murphy's voicemail and asked again. No reply and nothing was sent. It's very nice how dealers smile until they get your money and then you're nothing. Not my way of giving repeat business. I will remember and pass it on! ADDENDUM: This review has NOTHING to do with Ed May. Ed has been the shining star in this transaction and called me to resolves my issues. The remainder of the review, however, remains unchanged.

I used the Costco buying program which I do recommend. I was sent to see Ed May at this dealership. Ed was easy to speak with. He listened to my needs and suggested models that may be right for me. Nothing was rushed. Costco is very strict about their pricing structure and one does save money. There was no haggle. Royal Moore and Ed May went out of their way to get me the car and color I wanted. I spoke with another buyer while there. Their review was as good as mine and they were repeat customers.

For a new car dealership, this place operated like a stereotypical, bad used-car lot. My experience was like the folks buying a car in the movie "Fargo". ("they put the true coat on at the factory!") They had emailed me the price of the car. Going to their dealership was a complete waste of time. After waiting around for 90 minutes for the "sales manager" to present his offer, the price was significantly higher than what had been emailed to me and with numerous additional charges/add-ons. They were only going to sell the car at the price they offered in the email by financing it thru them at exorbitant rates. He explained this was just a "starting point" - & basically wanted to haggle back & forth with one bad offer after another. Keep your guard up and look at all the fine print if you deal with these folks. I walked and bought a new vehicle from another Mazda dealership that was waaaay more professional!

I had a horrible experience from the start. I would say that the only positive experience was with Brian, the sales man, however, the managers, the finance department and the tile department dropped the ball numerous times. First off, when we got a Nissan Altima, it was making a weird rattling sound that took 4 visits to the dealership service department for someone to finally acknowledge that. Not only that, every time we went to have it checked out, we would get bad attitudes from one of the sales managers in there, who was kind when we purchased the vehicle, but when it came to assume responsibility, he totally changed his attitude and was very unprofessional. When someone finally acknowledge that the noise the car was making was not normal, they traded us out of the vehicle, but they gave us like $2000 less than what we have paid for the car and we only had the car for 3 days or so, but since we felt we had no other choice, we went with it. After we got a new car, it took like 6 weeks for them to let us know that they still had not submitted the request for the title and we had to go back to fill out more paperwork. The title finally arrived and we thought it was all over, but we were wrong. We then got a photo ticket from the car that we had traded in the first time. The guy that had purchased the vehicle, ran a red light and since the dealership did not make the title change, we got the ticket, which we had to try to fix and it is still trying to be fixed. We purchase the vehicle back in February and we still are dealing with some of the aftermath of the horrible experience we had with this dealership. I never leave bad reviews, however, due to the horrible experience, I felt it was necessary to do this, so that others do not go through the same nightmare that I have gone through. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dealership.

I worked with Jessie at the Toyota side of Royal Moore and he was fantastic. He had a laid back approach and was not pushy at all. I highly recommend asking for Jessie! I also worked with Doug in the finance department. He really pulled some strings to get me the monthly payments I could make.

I came in to look around and see what options I had. Matt let me take my time to find the best fit for me. He showed me many cars and was able to answer all of my questions and knew all about the differences. He was very patient and didn't pressure me at all. I got exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier with my CX-5!

I've never purchased a car before, and when I decided to get a new Mazda3 hatchback I called 10 dealers around Oregon/Washington to request a quote for an exact factory build. How hard can this be?I have a pile of cash, you have some friends in Japan who want to make me a car --- lets do this! This is how I discovered that most car dealerships are grossly incompetent:+ one dealer never replied with a quote, but later emailed to ask why they didn't get my business+ one dealer quoted me a grand above MSRP (who requests a quote and doesn't know the MSRP?)+ one dealer replied to the wrong email address (they can't read their own handwriting?)+ several dealers totally ignored all the specs I told them on the phone and tried to get me to buy other cars. However, one person stood out from the rest: Ed May from Royal Moore Mazda!Ed not only replied with the lowest quote, but he was extremely professional, prompt, and helpful through the whole process:+ I email to ask for an itemized cost schedule including all taxes/fees --- BOOM! Ed immediately replies with an easy to read fee breakdown.+ I decide to go with Ed at Royal Moore, he puts in the factory order, and then keeps me posted over the next few weeks: emails me the window sticker, lets me know when the car itself is being built, and when the car will arrive at the dealership.+ When I come to pick up the car, Ed is patient and happy as I go through my inspection checklist (opening the hood, checking fluids, etc.). He shows me some neat features of the car, answers all my questions, and even makes sure that my iPod works with the car stereo. The best part: he charged me exactly the price he quoted me months before!I was extremely pleased with the whole experience --- I'd recommend Ed to anyone who's looking to buy a car: In an industry of goofballs, Ed is a competent professional.

I bought a new Mazda from this dealership, and had no problems with the salesman. He was actually very professional, not at all smarmy, and I felt pretty good about that part of the transaction. Unfortunately, after he handed me off to the back office people, their treatment of me made a complete 180. First, the finance manager didn't give me a copy of some of the paperwork and it took about a week of constant calls to finally get in touch with somebody who would give me a copy. Second, three weeks after the sale, the auto licensing office still hasn't received anything from the dealership, so my trip permit will expire today and I'll have to find another way to get to work. I've been calling and leaving messages with people for a week or so to find out if they've even sent it in, or if not when. Nobody answers, and nobody calls me back. I assume since they've already made the sale, they don't feel that they need to do anything for me. A very frustrating and disappointing experience. Although the salesman was great, I would not recommend anybody buy from this dealership.

I was surprised to learn that an 08 Subaru I was looking at had some sort of weird sound emanating from it. I insisted on a 2 day right of refusal so I could have my mechanic look it over, and I asked them to fix the problem. They told me no on both and refused to work with me to get a payment that fit my budget. I was amazed that they didn't want to take my money. Completely different experience from the last car I bought just 2 years prior at a different dealership. Will not buy from these folks - there are way more dealers out there willing to work with a buyer to find a fit for their individual needs.

Got a great deal on a 2014 Mazda 3. Salesman, Ed May, was low key, knowledgeable and totally professional. I've put 13,000 miles plus in the car since I bought it, and the service department has been SUPERB in taking care of my car and my concerns as a consumer. They located my problem and provided a loaner car while the work was being done.

Since I bought my Mazda 3 eight years ago I have always gotten great service at Royal Moore Mazda, not that I've needed to use their service often. But the couple of times I have needed to have an issue checked out they have been very thorough. I have never had a problem with those things after they fixed them. I get emails from Royal Moore with coupons that help me with the cost of periodic maintanence. The service team is very helpful and listens to my concerns. They have an air conditioned waiting area with wifi, tv, coffee and restrooms. If the work being done on your car will take a while they offer you a free ride home, and then pick you back up when the work is finished. I don't know how such a place can exist, but I thank God for it and will always go to Royal Moore Mazda for my car's service and repair!

Reece was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the maintenance of my CX-5. - he was able to fit me in for a service that afternoon. I was made very welcome and was treated as a valued customer, unlike my experience at Herzog Meier in Beaverton where I purchased my new 2014 CX 5. Of all the car dealerships I have used for service, Royal Moore Mazda is the best I have experienced in my 35 years in Oregon ! In the future I will always go to Royal Moore for my car service , they are honest and know how to treat their customers well. -Martin, Portland Oregon.

Went with son car shopping after buying 3 different cars from them in the past 10 years. They tell us no credit check will be ran unless we decide to buy on terms.Well today I was on my way to purchase with cash a new car from them and in the mail I just happen to check before I left I find a letter telling My son and I that we were turned down for a loan back in February. We never applied for one!We were unable to find what we wanted at the time and left. So now we sit with a credit check ding and my son who is just starting out with credit gets hit also.Slimy people if you don't buy. Also never take a car there for service expensive and paid for things that were never done right. They have gone down hill big time

I'm glad I rarely have to take my Mazdaspeed 6 in for service, but when I do the guys at Royal Moore always do an excellent job and they are very easy to work with. They have a shuttle service if I have to leave my vehicle, and they are usually cheaper than the cost estimate! Love that.

We bought a used VW from these folks, and the initial sales process went very smoothly. Travis was very easy to work with, let my wife and I take the car out for a long test drive alone, and worked hard with us through the negotiation phase. My issues with this dealership are after Travis handed us off to finalize the sale. Firstly, there is a completely scam fee attached to every car their dealership sells. I'm not sure if it is just used cars, but they have this "Theft Code" $395 added to the price of the car. It is for some stickers and etching attached to the car for theft deterrent purposes. What a load of crap way to make a few more bucks off of each customer. They pre-apply this "service" before asking the customer if they even want it!Finally, it took nearly 4 hours for the whole process. We sat around the waiting room for an hour or two waiting for the paper work guy to be ready for us. This was a cash transaction, so should have been a very quick process. Overall, with the slow service and BS fees attached to the purchase, I cannot recommend this dealer.

I've had the worst experience with purchasing my car from Royal Moore. To start, the first salesman left me for over 40 minutes after having me take a test drive, alone. Multiple salesmen walked past me while I stood outside waiting to let someone know I was interested in purchasing the car. I, then, sought someone out to initiate the conversation that I wanted to make a purchase and hadn't been helped. Once someone was able to help me, it took 12 hours to finalize the sale of the vehicle. I sat around and waited all evening, attempting to stay positive, while other customers were helped who hadn't been in the dealership before me. When I finally signed paperwork, it was after 11pm and I still had an hour's drive home. Because it took so long, I wasn't even provided with all the copies of the keys I purchased with my car. To date, I've yet to receive the additional keys. It's been 23 days since the sale of my car. Since signing my paperwork, it has taken the dealership 23 days and counting, this issue is still not resolved, to finalize the sale of the car and provide me the paperwork to pick up my license plates. I have had to buy 2 additional trip permits, at my cost, in order to drive my car. I am now no longer able to purchase another trip permit and cannot drive my car because this issue cannot be resolved. Every time I call, I'm passed around the finance department and not provided any answers. My voicemails go unreturned. The general manager is little help. The best anyone can provide is a "I'm really sorry." Sorry doesn't allow me to operate my car, instead I'm now relying on others to help make sure I can get to work, run errands, and manage all other day to day tasks that so many people rely on their cars to do. I would give zero stars if it were possible. This has been the worst car buying experience, I didn't know I could experience such poor customer service. From the start, it's been horrible. Do not buy a car here.

As usual, visiting Royal Moore (Mazda side) was an enjoyable experience. Work started punctually by friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and certainly professional counter people and service personnel. I'm especially plesed with the breadth of knowledge of mechanic "Jose." Listen carefully when he discusses a car's condition ... his insightful info will help clear up much misunderstanding. Also the parts dept. helped in sourcing discontinued paint. One word best describes Royal Moore's employees: PROFESSIONAL!

This is the only place I take my car to get serviced now. The staff is friendly, helpful, and informative. For instance, last year they told me my battery needed to be replaced before winter - they clearly explained what was going on and why it was a concern. They didn't try to force a sale whatsoever, they simply informed me of the issue at hand. Had they stocked the correct battery, I would have changed it then and there. Since they didn't have one on hand, they referred me to some local stores to get the battery replaced right away. Needless to say, I was impressed by their helpfulness and concern for the functionality of my car.I have consistently experienced this type of professionalism and courtesy from their service dept. As a result, they have maintained my enduring patronage.

I have a 2006 RX8 and the key-fobs stopped working. I scheduled an appointment with Bill and he quoted me a price less than half that of another Mazda dealer in the area. Then when I got there they made me feel welcomed and immediately Technician Jesse took my car to begin the reprogramming of my key-fobs. Jesse could not get both fobs to work, but he worked hard to get one working. Then Curtis did not charge me for the work since they could not get both working.I was so impressed with the professionalism that I will take my Mazda there from now on. And when its time to shop for a new one, Royal Moore will be my first stop.Great job guys.Steve Wilson

After being pressured into buying a car we did not enjoy at a different dealer, Tim was very patient and helpful in finding the right car. We wanted a car that was fun to drive and they made it so easy for us.We purchased a 2013 Buick Regal GS and enjoy it everyday. Getting rid of the Honda Accord was the best thing we ever did. My wife actually enjoys her morning commute again. From the sales team to the service department, they are an awesome team. They have taken care of everything we needed from the oil changes and tire rotations to the warranty work.

With 250k on our Odyssey it was time to update my wife's daily driver. Living here on the central Oregon coast we didn't want to be limited to the few local dealerships so our search for the right vehicle was entirely done online. Being satisfied with the size and configuration of the 95 Odyssey we set out to find a 2014 version. After combing through a ton of data we narrowed it down to a few models and the Mazda5 was at the top of the list. The sources used were the usual internet suspects and for reviews we liked YouTube. To see what stock was available in Oregon we used CarGurus. Once we had that we started contacting various Oregon dealerships to see what could be done.We finally settled on Royal Moore to purchase from and a large factor in making that decision was internet sales manager Jason Walraven. I very much appreciated he didn't insist on switching from emails to phone conversations as we worked out the details for a specific vehicle. As consumers living in a rural setting we do a large portion of business over the net. I myself have a retail business completely net based. We like having all the facts and figures in front of us. We find mixing in phone conversations with their attendant vagary and lack of a paper trail unhelpful. To illustrate how strongly we feel about that; we actually abandoned a potential deal with Herzog-Meier which offered a lower price for the same model. Apparently they use internet sales reps for the initial contact and I have to say that was going well. They stayed in touch and answered all questions in a straightforward manner. When we applied for credit approval through a link provided by one of the reps all further email contact ceased. H-M's 'Internet Sales Manager' took it off their network and started calling. My wife tried to return one of his calls and got run around different departments before finally getting the guy and he started in with the usual "come on in". We're not going to drive nearly 10 hours to have questions answered that could be done easily by email. In my opinion we were not at that stage yet and I still had questions and requests for answers via email brought no response. That was it fir us: done. A less involved but similar experience was had with Kiefer Mazda. Royal Moore got our business almost by default.Jason Walraven stuck with us on the emails and all that remained was to take the drive and close the deal. Jason was pleasant and easy to deal with in person and it went well. Once it was set we were brought to Jason Murphy to sign the papers and review our post sale options [extended warranties]. Jason Murphy was thorough and answered all questions. In short we left with a great car and the confidence we choose the right dealer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Royal Moore to anyone looking to make car shopping a painless experience. Thanks guys!

The wife was wanting a newer car and saw this Blue Dodge Challenger on the Royal Moore website. She just had to go and see it in person, so while I slept( I work a night shift) she went and test drove the vehicle with Mark. She absolutely loved it and when I woke up she wanted me to go see it. Mark was great and I didn't feel like I was being pressured, we even chatted about some common interests we found out we had while waiting to see if the financing came through. They tried really hard to get to my target payment, and I was satisfied after a number of negotiations and got the payment at the maximum I was comfortable with. I was surprised when they came back with an even better deal15 minutes later even though I had already signed the original agreement. Most of the staff stayed late even though they didn't have to help make sure we were happy and had everything to go. Mark has continued to check up and make sure we are happy and have had no issue with the vehicle.

I'm not one to complain, and hardly ever write a bad review let alone reviews in general. But I just finished acknowledging Herzog Meier for the great buying experience and figured I would take the time to let Royal Moore know how horrible their salesman Dane is and how they lost a $28,000 sale. I came in last weekend after talking with the online rep about the 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback. Once I got there I was handed off to a salesman named Dane or Dwane. From the very beginning he was never polite. Not once did he give me any information about the car (even while driving it around his lot looking for the actual one I wanted, not the one that he was trying to push on me). Luckily I have been waiting for this car to come out since April and have done my fair share of research and knew EXACTLY what I wanted. Everything he had to say was in a very arrogant tone of voice and as if he was talking down on us, even when I would ask his a question about the features of the car. His plan of attack was to "bully" us into buying the one and only car he showed us. When we asked if he could check surrounding partnered dealerships to see if they had what I wanted, he told me "I can't do that unless you are committed to buy. That is too much work for me, my boss and everyone inside if you're not going to buy." So, naturally we would look somewhere else so we wouldn't put poor Dane out of his way at his place of employment. When we told him we were going to shop around he tells us "I guess I'm just confused on your guys' mindset.. like, what's your train of thought?" Once we finally started leaving my friend had told him that we would come back if no where else had the one we were looking for (to ease the awkward walk back to the car) he shook his head, said "whatever" under his breath and turned and walked away back towards the dealership. Didn't say bye. Didn't shake our hand. Nothing. I have never been treated so badly. Especially from a place that was potentially going to be getting over $20,000! I ended up going down the street to Herzog Meier, paid MORE for a higher end model. I wouldn't buy a 12" sandwich from Dane, let alone a brand new car. My advice for Royal Moore is to get rid of him if they want to sell some cars.

Bad over all experience. After the paper work is signed all friendliness is out the door. Several issues with the new car with no help from them at all. Very unhappy, will not buy from them again. I will not even take my car there for warranty work they will never get my business again. They lost the second key to the car. Took 2 extra trips to finally get a key from them.I purchased a clear bra and window tint. They forgot to schedule it, I had to return a week later to remind them, 11 days later my windows were tinted. 4 of my windows are scratched, window tint place says they were scratched when they got the car. Dealership manager accused my kids of scratching them and refuses to correct the problem.

It was a great experience and the price was probably the lowest WITHOUT any negotiation.I dealt with Daniel Reilly and he was simply great. Showed me the car features and took me out for a nice test drive. He was never pushy. He was very straight forward. There weren't any games (the best part)! He never pushed me to buy any extras. There was another person who dealt with the paper work and did go over with me some extras, but he was not pushy about it.Overall it was a good experience!

We had George as a salesman, great guy until you don't come to terms (he wouldn't even acknowledge us as we left after not making a deal). We test drive two cars, the one we liked was a white 2005 Nissan altima. So we sat down to talk numbers. The price was 13,500.. I talked him down to low Kelly blue book 12,700 he was great! When he crunched the numbers and came back I had been looking at there website and discovered that car #06000 was listed at 11,788.00 I told Rick and he said that was to get people from Gresham in not north Portland it's a loss leader and he wouldn't give me that price on the car because it was only meant for certain people not me I then told him that I would not buy a car from him. He didn't even try to cover up his discrimination! And I was referred from a friend.. I should have gone to the same salesman as him I guess. Thanks for another bad car dealership experience!

We had about 3-4 car models that we wanted to test drive before making any decisions. We stopped by Royal Moore to check out the Mazda CX-7. We met with Ken Horrell and explained to him that we were just looking to test drive the car. He showed us the car and told us about it. He then took us on a long test drive that really allowed for a good feel of the car. There was absolutely no pressure and we were never asked to "talk with the manager" or "run some numbers". We left the dealership with a good feeling. After crossing the other vehicles off of the list, we returned to Royal Moore the next day to begin the purchase proceedings. We were prepared to haggle not only the price of the car, but the value of our trade in. About 10 minutes into it, Ken came back with an amount for our trade-in that was exactly what we had in mind (and had kept to ourselves). About 20 minutes later, Don, the sales manager came out with the first round of numbers. The monthly payment was what we wanted, but the term was 12 months longer and there was some extra down payment. We sent Don back ( and expected to have to continue haggling), he returned about 10 minutes later with the shorter term, no down payment, and about the same monthly payment. We were both shocked as we had only been there about 30-45 minutes, and were already done. Overall everyone was very friendly, and we were very pleased with our purchase. We would definitely recommend this dealership to our friends and family.
