I brought my Escape in because of a "recall notice." The "notice" said the work would take a half day or maybe longer. The Service Department got my car in at the appointed time and the work took them about 45 minutes. I was very pleasantly surprised by how promptly the work was completed. I would highly recommend Bill Colwell's Service Department to anyone and everyone!!

2008 Escape. Staff was very helpful. Got my first free oil change and they fixed a tire that was going flat and put in a new tire rod attachment, all for free. Speedometer was sticking, so ordered a new panel and had that put in, It was about $75 less than the quoted price to change it. Very happy about the service

We originally called regarding a 2015 SuperCab pick up found on your website. Rylan Timmons was very helpful, but was with a client when we stopped in. Tom King was willing to take us for a test drive to help Rylan out. After our test drive we discussed additional options available. About a week later, we had narrowed down what we definitely wanted/needed, and passed the info onto Tom. Soon he'd found a few vehicles that fit our needs. We did a lot of research before purchasing with Bill Colwell. The price of the 2014 F-150 purchased was slightly higher than others we were comparing. Tom's professionalism throughout the process made the difference in where we purchased. I would recommend friends and family to talk to Tom, and check out Bill Colwell Ford for the purchase of their next vehicle.

Smoothest auto purchase I ever had. I'm not from Iowa. Ernie offered me a good price and a fair deal on the F250. I made a deal sight unsee, when I arrived to pick up the truck it was everything he said it was. No surprises. I did have the option to back out of the deal, but he represented the truck very good.

I purchased a used F150 after reviewing many options around the state at various dealerships online. The sales associate was responsive, honest, friendly, and helpful. He could have initally been more knowledgeable about the vehicle as there were a few specifics that I had to ask about a couple of times before I got a complete answer. To be fair this was probably due to the fact that I was requesting infomation before the dealership had time to post pictures of the vehicle, as this was a new listing I was contacting them about the first day it was posted online. The salesman was very honest about the condition of the vehicle, and sent multiple pictures to me at my request to ensure I understood the condition of the vehicle prior to visiting the dealership which was 2+ hours from my home. The finance staff was candid, knowledgeable, and helpful as well. Overall this was one of the top car buying experiences I've had in the last 5-10 years.

Our sales representative, Ernie Doeden, and the rest of the staff were very professional. They were attentive to our needs and were supportive of our purchase requirements. We drove out of the dealership with a new leased Ford Focus wagon. Ernie took a great deal of care and time showing us all the bells and whistles which we did not have on our 11-year-old Focus Wagon trade-in. He even synced my phone. We stopped a week later and Ernie was kind enough to also set up my husband's phone. We will definitely recommend a visit to Bill Colwell Ford to anyone looking for a new or used vehicle.

Edge had been failing to start on a regular basis; battery was totally dead on a Monday morning. Called for an appointment; first available was on Wednesday. Asked Kurt if we could just drop it off after jump starting, since it wasn't doing us any good as it was. He said sure; we dropped the Edge off around noon. Around 2:00 Kurt called with an update on the battery short; at 5:00 Kurt called that the Edge was ready for pickup. Battery drain diagnosis, new battery installation, oil & filter change, complete computer reboot to fix phone issues, plus the usual vehicle checks -- all completed 48 hours ahead of the first schedule opening. Kudos to Kurt!

I hate the whole process of buying a car: negative stigma of car dealers, haggling a price, overly complicated sales practices, takes forever, so much money, etc. etc. I told the salesman (David Perez) we worked with at Bill Colwell exactly how I felt in a voicemail along with what we were looking for... His response? He immediately (literally within 5 minutes) sent me an email with break downs for his top picks including the best deals he had on a few key vehicles and assured my husband and I he would make this as short and sweet as possible. He nailed it! One of those top picks was EXACTLY what we were looking for. We showed up a few hours later to test drive it and were met at the door with a smile by the salesman who said we didn't even need to go in the gorgeous new building because he had the car ready to test drive! No gimmicky sales tactics. Straight to the information. Beautiful. I had done my research ahead of time about what I wanted, and our salesman had clearly done his. If you want the process to be short and sweet, both halves have to do their part. Is this the way everyone likes to buy a car? Nope, but it is the way I want to buy my car. Bill Colwell Ford made sure I received exactly what I needed in my experience as well as my car. Heading in to pick up my new 2016 Ford Escape today after work, and I couldn't be happier! :)

I recently had purchased the used 09 Ford 150 and while traveling with it to Virginia I had a front tire go bad. I went to changed the tire . . . two things happened; 1 I couldn't find where the jack is placed and 2 could get the spare tire down due to the corrosion in the key hole. At that point I was sorely disappointed with Colewell. I thought at least they could have checked on those things! Upon my return I shared my frustration and was assured I would get a new jack to replace the one that wasn't there. When I came in for servicing, the jack was where it was supposed to be I just couldn't find it. And they lubricated the key hole to make sure the spare tire could be released. I was overall pleased with how they handled it. In the future it might be wise for you to make sure the customer knows where the jack is and how to remove the spare tire.

I buy and keep my vehicles many years so a new buying opportunity is like a re-awaking each time. I also pretty much know what I want by the time I make the effort. I try not to buy out of passion, but practicality as a vehicle is a tool. Some dealerships turn me off right away by how they greet me and attempt to drive me to a purchase. I'm a "Driver" type so that is not a good mix. Ernie Doeden is a very good Sales Representative for Bill Caldwell Ford and he assessed his customer right away made sure to adjust and give me my room. I never felt pressured and we did quite a bit of good information sharing and the sales team presented their position during the negotiations in an honest , friendly fashion, that made me think more about making my purchase at Bill Colwell Ford as right for both of us. Once we had a deal they were very good guiding us through the purchase process and making sure our we knew our business was appreciated and they would be there if needed for service. Family owned, good inventory and long standing community business is what brought us to Bill Colwell Ford today. I also enjoyed seeing the Food Bank collection truck right in the middle of the showroom. That is a good local community positive image in my book.

Our family have purchased vehicles from Bill Colwell and salesman, Ernie Doeden, for many, many years. When it comes to dealerships, Ernie Doeden at Bill Colwell Ford is the only place we go! Called Ernie last August about a reliable car for our daughter, and he was right on it. We ended up buying a 2014 Ford Focus. Ernie went over every aspect of the car with her and was so helpful in every way. In the past, we sent our son down to Bill Colwell and Ernie found him a great used car in his price range. Also, we even talked my sister (from Cedar Rapids) into coming up to Bill Colwell for a car, and she ended up buying a brand new Ford Fusion from Ernie. I bought a new Fusion from Ernie Doeden at Bill Colwell Ford in Hudson, IA. This isn't the first car I have bought from him. He always answers all my questions and makes me feel like an important customer. He doesn't push me into buying anything I don't want. If I later need help with my car, he has always been there for me. He even got me a loaner on a Saturday because the service department was closed when I needed a new battery. How many dealerships would do that for you? Everyone else at the dealership also makes you feel welcomed. Their website helped me pick out cars I wanted to look at before I arrived, which is great! Everyone worked hard so I could get in and out with a new car fast without wasting time but still answering all of my questions. I would recommend a fusion and Ernie Doeden at Bill Colwell Ford in Hudson, IA to everyone I know. Bill Colwell Ford makes you feel like part of the family by remembering your birthday and anniversary of buying your car. They all always only a phone car away to help you, if and when needed. We have bought cars from Bill Colwell for maybe 18 years, 9 or 10 cars for different family members. The sales staff is the main reason why .. we have always dealt with Ernie Doeden and Mike Stark. Ernie and Mike are great, no pressure, very professional, and when we've had a strict budget, they have been responsive and found what we needed. Last week I traded a 2012 Escape for a new 2016 Escape, there were a bunch to choose from and they made it easy for me to find just the one I was looking for. I have also dealt with the service department, many times (tires,oil changes etc.) and they are great as well. Quick too! I am a pretty loyal customer and, once again Erne and Mike are responsible. Another thing that I truly appreciate is that they made sure when I left the dealership I was comfortable with all the controls, touch screen and Ford Sync, even helped me sync my iPhone to the car's software. Bill Colwell is the real deal, I highly recommend this dealership.

I have purchased several new cars and a few used cars from Bill Colwell Ford since 1994. I have experienced nothing but respect from all areas of the dealership from the bottom to the top. I don't have or never had a complaint about the dealership or how they've taken care of my needs. You tell me how many dealerships give you a loaner when they do simple oil changes? As a long time Chevy truck owner, I was interested in the new Ford F-150's. I stopped at Bill Colwell Ford on a chilly Saturday afternoon, was quickly greeted outside by a young salesman, and he walked me through the different trims, options, and features--friendly, knowledgeable, and no-pressure. In comparison, I had spent 20 minutes earlier in the day walking around a large Chevy dealer's lot & showroom looking at trucks & sales info--no one offered to let me sit in one or answer questions. I returned the following weekend (5 March 16) intending to test drive a Ford, and the salesman, Mike B., spent time with my wife and I to identify the features which best fit my interests (engine, trim, options, color, etc). Took it for a 20 minute drive, and were sold on it. The rest of the experience was also very positive--reviewing my old truck as a trade-in, offer, financials, owner's manual & paperwork, explanation of truck features, and a walk through of the dealer service area & capabilities. The entire staff treated me as a valued customer throughout--it is much appreciated, and it is clear that they wanted to earn my business. In addition to the great staff, Colwell has a great vehicle selection, especially for the trucks I was interested in (new F-150, Super Duty and used). So far the new F-150 is great--not missing the Chevy! Looking forward to work with Colwell in the future.

In the past I have dealt with the Hudson Ford dealership and been very pleased. I bought a 1964 and 1/2 Mustang, 2 Ford Windstar, 2 Ford Edge and now (along with my 2010 edge) a used 2005 Dodge Dakota mid-sized pickup. I just bought the pickup after visiting with the dealership last summer (2015) to let them know I did not want a full sized Ford F150 truck nor their smaller one. After several months, this mid-sized truck came on the lot which was just what I wanted. A salesman called and invited me to stop in and look it over. I immediately recognized that this pickup was the one I wanted. I was most pleased with the responsiveness of the sales staff. The only "hickup" in the experience was no fault of the garage but the fob did not operated and I could not lock/unlock the vehicle. That is being taken care of and 2 new fobs will soon be available through the Ford garage and a neighboring Dodge dealership.

You know how they say it takes a village to get somethings done well in this case it took a GREAT TEAM, Blake Colwell (Owner), Laverne Tradel (Service Manager) & Ernie Doeden (Sales Representative). I bought a brand new Mustang & that developed a serious problem, that despite their best efforts to fix could not be corrected, so they went about the process of having it replaced by Ford. Well let's just say Ford didn't make the process easy or quick, but that's when this team stepped up & put in a lot of time & effort to take care of me & do right by me. They got eliminated the mileage charges & any expenses on my part, plane fare from California where the car broke down & got my lease extended for the time it took to get the car replaced which Ford Motor Co. was not originally willing to do. They offered me a loaner car at no expense until I got my new car & threw in some extras at no cost to help offset set all of the inconvenience. That's the kind of team & dealership you want. Not just take care of you at the sale but maybe even more importantly after the sale.

After being unhappy with my hometown Ford dealer & service, was given a recommendation to try Colwell Ford, even though it is 10 miles away. Easy trip, just down the road, and SOOO worth it! Flexible on scheduling service, gave me a loaner car - at no charge!! Great service department!! I have serviced for 5 years with Bill Colwell, and couldn't wait to make a purchase with them. When I started looking at a new vehicle, I stopped by and meet Mike S. Absolutely the best sales person I have ever dealt with. I have purchased over 12 brand new vehicles in 26 years, and have never had such a well informed, less pressured purchase. Mike kept in touch and kept the door open on letting me know he was available, without any pressure. After a few weeks of deciding actual type of vehicle, then the debate of the model/trim level, Mike worked overtime to find the EXACT one I wanted. They didn't have the specific one on the lot, so he spent the time doing a dealer search and got my truck from Kansas City. The most impressive thing about it was that they had a similar one on the lot, but at no time did Mike, the managers, or finance try to persuade me to buy the one they had. All that was ever said was "Let's get you the truck you want"....and they did. That is what REAL customer service is!! Can not recommend Bill Colwell, Mike Stark, the service department enough!!! Worth the drive, 10 miles or 100 miles!!

You really don't know what your dealership is about until you have problems, not when everything is just going great. Our 2015 Mustang EcoBoast Premium developed a problem where after driving for hours the lights would just go out for awhile until the engine cooled down. Obviously a big safety problem especially when driving at night. After they made every effort to attempt to correct the problem our dealer contacted Ford to replace the car. Let's just say Ford didn't make it easy on us or the dealer but our dealer went to bat for us. They got Ford to eliminate mileage charges & extend the lease for the time lost & the dealer himself threw in the things Ford wasn't wiling to do for us at this own expense. You want a dealer that takes care of you not only at the sale but after the sale.

My husband Art took our 2013 Edge in for an oil change and he was told that the tires needed to be replaced. They said the rear one was especially bad. After I thought about the price that they were quoting us for the tires, I questioned WHY, did they not tell us the tires were bad on prior oil changes? We have had every oil change done there, since we have owned it. I was disappointed with the fact it was not caught prior to this, I also was not happy that you wanted to charge us so much. Obviously we did not get the tires there. I had my husband check somewhere else, that we could get the same tires for less, all the way around and free rotation also. Considering of getting the oil changes done locally also.

THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. HOWEVER, I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT WE BOUGHT THE BEST BATTERY POSSIBLE 6-12-12 AT 73,448 MILES AGAIN 1-15-16 AT 112,122 AND IT ONLY LASTED 38,674 MILES. GRANTED, WE ORIGINALLY PAID $110 BUT THEN PAID ANOTHER PRORATED AMOUNT OF $50 FOR A TOTAL OF THE TWO BATTERIES AT $160. I THINK THIS IS EXCESSIVELY HIGH FOR THE MINIMAL MILES FOR THE BEST BATTERY. MAYBE THE JUNE 2012 BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE, OR PERHAPS, THE STARTER OR ALTERNATOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHECKED TO SEE WHAT WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. THE LAST TIME THE JUNE BATTERY WAS TESTED WAS ON 11-25-2015. SOMETHING WAS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. SPARK PLUGS WERE LAST REPLACED AT 102,164 MILES ON 12-15-2014. WHAT WERE WE MISSING HERE? I WOULD LIKE A RESPONSE.

I purchased a 07 Ford F150 4x4 SuperCrew and Matt was very helpful. The financing team did wonders in getting me approved. Can't thank them enough. Do have a complaint though. I didnt realize it had the wrong sized tire up front. 235's not 245 that's not good for the transfer case if 4wd is needed. But I would recommend Bill Colwell to anybody!

I had trouble starting my 2011 Taurus. It had the original battery and it showed wear at my last service. Because I was concerned that I would find it completely dead at some point, I called Colwell service. They told me I could bring my car in and they would put a new battery in it. I appreciate the fact that I was able to get the new battery that same afternoon. I was surprised that nothing was explained to me about batteries....i.e. were there any choices? I was interested in exploring choices in new cars, but no one could locate my sales man and no one asked if they could help.

I was looking for a used SUV, but purchased a new 2015 Escape. Tom was very helpful & patient while I made the decision to go new. He took the time to show me the features of my new car, answered my questions, as well as setting up my phone, seat & fixed the brake pedal pad. He also made sure to find all the rebates Ford had to offer. The extra rebate he found along with Mike's trade-in value for my car made me comfortable having the full interior/exterior protection added. Dave fully explained the financing & extended warranty. With his & Tom's advice plus an overnight think, I added the extended warranty. This is the first Ford I've ever purchased for my own use & I'm loving my new ride. The staff did a great job! the only down side was waiting for someone from finance to be available to process my application. This allowed me to have too much time on my hands while waiting. I made the deal with the sale person (Katie Thul) and was ready to get in my new (used) car and go home. I do understand that it was a late Friday afternoon and you were short staffed. But you did ask me to share my experience! That was the only negative experience at the dealership. All other was Rock Star! Thank you.

Yesterday I had a Front Tire Blow Out on right front of my 2015 Ford Escape SE 4X4. I called Bill Caldwell Parts Department and Cliff assured me they would have me a new tire by the next morning. So I called Service to schedule getting it put on my rim. I was told they had no opening for appointments till the following Wednesday which was 6 more days way. Well they went above and beyond, not only did the tire come next morning as was promised, the service department worked me in and took care of me the next day (Today). Terry Reams in the Service Dept. did an exceptional job for us when our second car unexpectedly needed repairs on the morning we were to leave for the Mayo Clinic for appointments. We had it towed to the dealership & he took it from there to keep us informed & had the repairs done when we returned a few days later. We have bought all our cars & had all maintenance done at Colwells for at least the last 15 years & have always had excellent service with great attitudes from all the employees. This is the first time I can say I am disappointed in my service. The work done to my car ended up costing significantly more than what I was quoted. I was not notified about the additional cost until after the work was done.I do understand the technitions did not realize it was a different part until they took it off the car but i would have been nice to know that the cost was going to be so much more.

Your staff was very friendly. I had a 25,000 mile checkup with my 2013 Edge. Oil change, tires rotated, air pressure check and fluids topped. The only complaint I have is the cover on the spare tire was not put back properly causing me to stop two times going home to check for an unusual noise coming from the rear.

I think the only thing I saw was, Your company does not use anything on the seats or the steering wheel to protect the service men from getting anything on the seats or the steering wheel.I saw a stain on the drivers seat, but I was able to remove. I also do not know for sure if it was from them, but I saw it when I got back in the car. Just a suggestion. service was good, timely and I also can see where a little more personalization with your customer, relax, do not come up to someone, like you are in a HURRY, which, you may be wanting to get the information back to the service tech. The customer feels your anxiety and feels like they are not important. The gentleman that was taking the info back to the service tech, said after I was talking and ready to share more, that "that is all the information I need", he interrupted my speaking. Not good in my book.

Ross Anderson did a great job evaluating and repairing the 4 different concerns we had about our truck.He even dug a little deeper to talk to the experts at Ford. Terry also offered to drive the truck to our home as we had a scheduling conflict to pick it up. Terry is one of the most personable, friendly person I have ever met. He is one of the big reasons we keep coming back. Terry puts the 'home town service' in Bill Colwell Ford and make customers feel like family.

I had the oil changed in my Transit Connect. I have never been so mad as I was when I got in the car after work. My husband took to have the oil changed and then left it for me at work. I drive that car to and from work every day. The technican who drove it for less than two minutes felt it was his right to adjust the seat to his comfort. I got in MY vehicle and immediate my back started hurting and I have not been able to get the seat adjusted to my comfort yet and it makes me angry every time I sit in the vehicle. I can understand adjusting the distance the seat is from the controls but to adjust how the back was ajusted, that is unacceptable.

I brought my truck in because my transmission was leaking oil. I dropped it off expecting that, with the short notice, it would be a day or so before anyone could look at it. To my surprise, within a few hours of dropping it off, a service representative had called me with a diagnosis. They then asked if I would like it fixed and how much it would cost. I mentioned that I had an extended warranty and they looked up the policy number and I was covered for this type of issue. The following morning I was able to pick up the truck and be on my way. I though it would be a 2 to 3 day ordeal but it turned out to be only one day without my vehicle due to the excelent service at Bill Colwell Ford.

Had a very good experaince buying a new F150 PLatinum at Colwell. Very good pricing and Mike Stark was an excellant and knowlegable salesman. The only complanint I have is the truck was not clean up very well. Mostly the windows. There was some dust on the clear cover over the gauges etc. in front of the steering wheel. Also a small amount of sticky by the driver side windshied wiper. No complaining just want to let you know. Also we left a rake in the bed from our trade in truck taht wouldn't fit into the car Tuesday night. Has yelloe fiberglass handle. Would like to get it back if possible. But overall, very happy. Thanks, Rob.

The service department took my concerns seriously. I was having issues with the "key fob". Sometimes I could start my car and sometimes nothing. I feel good that the service technicians checked everything out and tried everything to discover a problem. They replaced the batteries.

Freestyle in for a tune up. Interesting delema with scheduling the appointment. When I called for the appointment, I was told Dec 10 at 9:30. Then I received confirmation emails that said Dec 10th at 10:30. When I arrived at 10:30, I was an hour late. I would have been on time but the emails confused the original appointment time.

Our 2014 Escape was due for an oil change and some minor Warranty work, scheduled a time with Bill Cowell Ford, was able to get in quickly. When we arrived, the preliminary paperwork was complete and waiting for us, a very nice (new) loaner car was waiting and they called us when the work was done (Exactly at the time they had estimated!)Very friendly, fast, professional and fun to work with.

Service team has always been friendly and helpful.I think the value for the oil change is reasonable. I hope the wipers turn out to be worth nearly $14 each; I thought that was a little bit pricey. Is there , in fact, a warranty for wipers? The lady who called after the service said that someone would be letting me know.On a side note, I have always disliked being charged a "shop fee." Just determine how much you need to charge me for the service. I do feel a sense of confidence that the oil change and general check will be done well at Colwell Ford.

My story on buying our 2013 Edge (Pearl White) was quite an experience.I had went to look at the Edge previously in the day and drove it, loved it, so many bells and whistles, I had never had something so fancy. I told them I would have to come back after discussing it with my husband. Long story short, I was able to bring my husband back after a few hours after I had left and I told them before leaving home if you give me this much for my trade in, we would take the Edge. Well, My husband and I sat down with Rylan, He shared what we had to say to Jeff, Jeff came back with a counter offer and we said, knock this amount off and we would take the Edge...He said he could not do it. We had Jeff and Rylan leave so hubby and I could talk.. We told them we were going to let it go. On our way home we get a text from Rylan..wanting to know if he could talk to his manager and have him give us the amount requested off, would we take the Edge, we were on our way home, Manager had his chance, we said NO. Ryan called, he had got the amount requested off, would we come back? We did!!! The staff is very courteous, opening doors, I will not tell you all that they did, but we are pleased. Yes, it was the end of the month, but lets say it will be a while before Rylan has a weekend free.

Recently bought a 2008 ford escape. Come to find out int April that the air conditioning does not work. It appears that the wires to the air compressor where unhooked, Eventually Colwell's fixed the issue for cost. It took about 2 weeks worth of phone calls.

I recently bought a used car here and the check engine light came on before I had even got the car home. When they claimed to have no knowledge of the issue I was naturally extremely skeptical. Therefore, I put a stop payment on my check, but made it clear that I would pay them immediately once the issue was fixed or they took the car back. Instead of apologizing and taking car of the issue, Jeff, the manager, tried explaining that I purchased the car "as-is" so they were under no obligation to me. To make matters worse he explained that he could sue me for the purchase! Jeff must not understand that every state in the country including Iowa has lemon laws to protect car buyers from exactly this kind of unscrupulous behavior. I was hoping that Jeff was better than this, but in the end he is exactly the kind of guy that gives used car salesman a bad name. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!

Have been searching for the right pre-owned vehicle to fit my family's needs for a few months now. Blake reached out to me with a recommendation he felt fit the specific requirements. After a good walk-around and test drive, I was allowed to keep the vehicle overnight, so my family could also provide feedback. Would not recommend to anyone, the yelow f250 they have listed for 19,500.00 they only gave me 15,200.00. I know I am the idiot that traded it in but they told me how much they would have to put into it. I trusted them and two days later they are trying to make almost 5,000.00. Just another group of theives taking advantage of someone. Try someone else.

Love my new Fusion Hybrid! Love the awesome gas mileage, the comfortable ride, Sync, rearview camera, Sirius Radio, navigation system, safety features....I love everything about this car. We owned 2 Edges before this car and while I really liked them, the gas mileage was starting to get to me...almost all my driving is in town, and I can't tell you how nice it is to get gas every 3 weeks - not because I need it, but just to fill the top half of the tank! I would (and have) reccommend Bill Colwell Ford as the best dealership in our area, and the Fusion Hybrid as the best of all the 10 cars I've ever owned!
