About a year ago... I decided I wanted to buy a new vehicle. Specifically a new truck. I looked and looked and narrowed down my wish list. I knew exactly to the penny that I had to be able to spend on this truck. I was paying cash for it. Once I KNEW what I wanted...I began looking FOR this truck. I found it...more than I could afford to pay for it...at a dealership in Houston. I really did not want to go to Houston. I called Sour Lake Motors and spoke to Rockie Templeton. I explained my problem to her. She kindly said let me see what I can find out and do, I will get back to you. Within a hour she called me back and said..."Denise, I have that same truck on our lot here... and at a cheaper price than it is at that other place." I was thrilled. So as we talked. I told her what my budget was. I said this is not a negotiable figure ... this IS IT!!! I was not in a bind for a vehicle. My car that I was driving was in great condition, so I didn't HAVE to buy. I could take my time until I got what I wanted in my price range. Rockie said let me play with this and see what we can do. The NEXT day, she called me and said she had it all set....so I drove over to Sour Lake. When I got there, I was somewhat disappointed that the numbers were not what I had needed or told her. They weren't bad.... but just not something I could do. I was ready to walk. Rockie got her supervisor, I'm sorry I do not remember his name. He came out and talked at great lengths with me. He piddled with the numbers and crunched here and there... finally got it!!!! He actually got it $35 UNDER my budget !!! I picked up my new truck the NEXT day. Then, about 2 days later....I realized I had left something in my car that I had traded in. I called Rockie and asked her if the car was still there? She said she thought it was. I asked her if there was any way she could go see and could go look inside the car for this item. She said she would see what she could do. About 2-3hrs later she called me and said ... I GOT IT !!! She not only got it... but she mailed it to me. The item, was a small red toy bear, from a McDonalds kids meal. My grandson got it about 14-15 yrs ago in a meal pack the day I had bought a particular veh... he asked if he could put the bear in my car forever. I said sure. That bear rode in the back window of that car and 3 others since then... for the last 14-15 yrs. It was very important to me to get that bear back. My grandson just turned 16yrs and is about to get his license and his 1st vehicle..... I am giving him this bear to put in HIS vehicle. In my opinion... Rockie Templeton went above and beyond the normal to take care of me in my needs and wants of this vehicle. Her total dedication to make this deal happen, her supervisor also. I know he didn't HAVE to keep crunching those numbers to get it below my budget ... but he DID. Rockie didn't HAVE to dig thru the sheets of inventory to find THIS truck for me, (even if it is on the computer and easy to do)... she didn't HAVE to go look to see if my trade in car was still there, and she didn't HAVE to go dig thru it to find a small toy, and she didn't HAVE to mail it to me.... but SHE DID !!! I don't HAVE to buy my next vehicle from Sour Lake......but I am sure going to go there 1st !!! I have referred several friends and family members to go to Sour Lake. I only know of 1 that bought a vehicle.... that was D***** Walker.
