The new Civic hatchback looks nice, but that's about it. It is very difficult to get in and out of. The seats are not very comfortable. I realize that it is a small car, but the interior is cramped compared to other small cars. It seems as if there is not enough sound insulation in the car, as the engine is very noisy. The climate controls are not readily accessible: the fan speed control is in a separate menu within the touch screen and is not centrally located. (A button or knob would be easier to use.) The cloth on the cargo cover looked to be snagged/uneven. The car is very over priced at $27,000+. You can buy a hybrid vehicle, which is more economic, for less than this non-hybrid Civic.

Best of 2016...not bad 2017

When Civic hit the road in 2016, it was the best compact car on the market with its unique turbo engine and fantastic handling. Now that it's 2017, Civic has serious competition. The 17 Elantra handles almost as well and has a bunch smarter, prettier, comfortable interior with technology (including blind spot monitoring) available on all trims rather than select trims like the Civic. The 17 Corolla now comes standard with forward collision technology thats only available on Civics for an extra 1,000 if you're lucky to find on on the lot. If you want the best performing sedan/hatch/coupe, civic wins., but if you want interior quality, look elseware as civic falls behind both toyota and hyundai by a large margin. The seats are some of the most generic quality I've seen in a car ever. The armrests in the center console and door are a spandex/nylon material stretched over plastic--is extremely rough/uncomfortable to the touch and attacts dirt so fast your car will look like you bought it form a used lot within 3 months.

Why anyone would spring for the sport or sport touring version of this hatch for an extra 6 horses is beyond me as you're signing up for having to purchase premium fuel for the life of your ownership, as well as getting inferior fuel economy. You can't even feel the modest increase. Yeah, the exhaust setup looks nice but imo it's too aggressive looking - save that for the type R or Si. Anyway - overall very happy with purchase - fuel economy in mixed driving hitting a little under what it's rated for - I'm hoping that changes. Not a huge fan of the honeycomb faux vents on the rear bumper but I bought black so they blend in better than other colors. I love the overall design of this hatch, and although typically prefer a good M/T over an automatic, I'm pretty impressed by the CVT on this car.
