Recalls & Defects

VIN 1C4PJLAB4GW238258 may have been recalled. Check full report for more information

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION | POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.

Bought this because I wanted the off road version, but was light in the wallet at the time of purchase. I suppose most people went with the V6 for the Trailhawk. I will say that if I met someone thinking about buying this car, I would say get the V6. You will be happier. That being said, the 2.4 4cyl tiger shark with the 9 speed transmission has kind of "learned" my driving habits, The transmission software issues from the '14 models are worked out and fixed. Sport mode is fun. I am happy I went with the "green" version. It is capable as hell, decent on gas,

I just bought this car and it's been in the shop 3 times already to no avail. Car cuts off in the middle of driving and leaving me with no power on a busy Interstate several times. Dealership can't find anything wrong with it although I barely got it there. Car States vehicle needs transmission repair service and brake service. Seems no one can help! Do not buy this car. Lemon warning.

My wife and I were looking to replace our 3 year old Escape with 1.6 motor. We looked at and drove several other suv's but keep coming back to the 2016 Jeep 75th Anniversary Edition with the 2.4 motor. It just felt more solid, comfortable, quite and interior was laid out better to us. We wanted to like other models more, but the Jeep just won us over. Having owned and driven many cars from around the world, the Jeep just keep being the best option for us. The ride is solid, the seats firm, but not hard and the interior is very quite, which should make it a treat for long highway trips. Looking forward to our first. The 2.4 motor has plenty of power for anything we need, equal or better acceleration than our old 1.6 turbo, and surly better fuel mileage. We were lucky to see 25 mpg with eco motor even using a light foot. The best ride and handling I've ever exeperienced was an older RR. The Jeep is the closes I've come to matching it. So far we are both extreamly pleased with the Jeep. Now the cons: the dealers lack of knowledge of the product. Navaid a $600 addition cost on a $30,000 car, supplied by the same clueless dealer. Chrysler Finanical is the least customer oriented company I've dealt with in the last 20 years, and unable to reconcile the difference between a 911 address and mailing address. My only hope is the Jeep will outshine our last plagued Chrysler vehicle, a 2006 Grand Caravan.

By far the worst Jeep ever.

So we had to rent this car while our X5 was getting fixed. First I want to say that this car is not good looking at ALL. First i will start with the quality of the interior . The front seat comfort was OK, but the rear seat comfort was awful. Now the engine. I am blown away by how horrible this engine is. I tried to accelerate and I seriously had to wait a solid 2 seconds to go any farther . AND yes I know cars have lag , but this was a lack of a good engine. I hate this so called SUV.

I leased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and recently got into a terrible accident with the car. I was shocked how the car reacted to the accident. It did what it was built to do, which was save me and the car itself fell apart. I got hit on the drivers side and then the force from that forced me to hit a telephone pole. I was told that if I had been driving my old car, which was a 2010 Volkswagen, the accident would've been much worse and my injuries would've been worse. I highly suggest this car to anyone that is looking at a Jeep. It is extremely reliable and has the best ride I've ever driven in a car. It's great in the snow/rain as well. If you're looking into Jeep's, definitely look at this one! I also suggest the Jeep Grand Cherokee, as I have that one as well. Both of these vehicles are wonderful and their performance is top of the line.

This was my first jeep purchase and i am very pleased with my 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. I got a great deal and was quite suprised on the comfort and the overall performance. The first weekend I had it i went out of town and i got about 28 mpg on the highway. The scond trip was to the beach and went about 300 miles on a half of tank. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for an SUV.

I had to push the gas pedal so that it would start up and I shouldn't have to, so I am worried about this, and I don't want to continue with this lease. I bought my Jeep Cherokee brand new and within a few days I had a problem of it stalling and turning off completely (not the added feature already on to save gas). Still does it after three trips to the shop and 10 months of frustration. Then it rained hard and the water came dribbling in the sunroof and now I wait because as soon as I used the elctronics to close it it sounded like it went off track...UGH....I should of stayed away...:(

We have had this 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2-4L fwd for about a month now and have already put 1800 very pleasant miles on it, through a combination of mountain, freeway and city driving. In all conditions it handled very nicely. Going uphill was never an issue. It's power was more than enough to help us up the hills at a nice pace, and it's handling made it unnecessary to use the brakes except on the sharpest turns. On the freeway, there was no trouble merging at the right speed. Acceleration was always just right. Very smooth ride, even at highway speeds, and also very quite. Interior is great.High quality materials made it feel almost luxurious. Very comfortable seating for 5. Plenty of leg and headroom. We really like the front grille and the daylight running lights too. I was really pleasantly surprised and would recommend it to everyone. If you don't need 4wd, the 2.4L is really great, and along with the 9 speed transmission it provides a smooth very quick way to arrive at your destination, relaxed and refreshed, no matter how long the journey. Just wanted to update the review. We have driven over a thousand miles more since the initial review. Everything is still great. I really, really enjoy driving this car. Very smooth. Very comfortable. Very quite. Acceleration is just right. Everyone who had driven with us is very impressed. My friend, who is 6'2" said he had plenty of head and legroom in the rear seat. He also said how comfortable it felt. I can't wait for a very very long road trip. I wish I was driving it now.

I recently leased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee latitude after having a 2010 Lincoln . wanted something different . I was looking for a lot of extras and was surprised to find most of my wish list with this car. I am happy with how it drives and the extras, but I am writing this because I am so disappointed in the radio. I get a handful of stations and I have asked the service guy to check it , thinking there was something wrong., but was told it was a new radio and there was nothing wrong. I am not sure if anyone is having the same issue. I like listening to the radio not just a few stations. I am thinking on bringing it back because of this . so if you are about to purchase this jeep and you want a good radio , don't buy this jeep .

I was so excited to purchase the anniversary edition 2016 Jeep Cherokee. I even had customer leather seats installed with the matching tangerine and white trim and had all the windows tinted. On August 11, 2016, Baton Rouge experienced an enormous amount of rain. I've owned at least 20 cars in my lifetime and they've been through hurricanes and rain before, so this particular day shouldn't have been any different. It wouldn't have been if Jeep had made sure all the wheel wells were sealed. I brought my Jeep to a dealer and that's what they found. The LF wheel well wasn't sealed properly and I had several inches of water in my drivers floorboard and behind the driver. The carpet held 2-3" of water for days before I noticed it. (10 total while trying to dry myself and waiting on the dealer) I'm hoping that's the only area to leak and that it was repaired properly. I'm still waiting for the dealer and Jeep to contact me if they will replace the carpet. Waiting and waiting!! The dealer did not dry my carpet or the pad at all. I had to do that myself with fans and blow dryers for days. I guess they thought if they put it back down I wouldn't notice. They didn't even remove the seat to check for any further damage to electrical or to dry. I'm hoping I don't have any future electrical problems with my new purchase. Currently, I'm having the Jeep inspected by my insurance and a second opinion from another Jeep dealer. As long as I know there is no future damage and that Jeep will stand behind replacing the carpet if needed, I still feel I made a good purchase. Out of all the suv's I looked at, the 2016 Cherokee was the most comfortable and easiest to handle.

I just took delivery of my car today but I had a similar loaner for 3 weeks as my came from an out-of-state dealer and had to be prepped to my specifications. I bought this machine so I can flat tow behind my RV. I always keep a car for 10 years or more, and given my age this could be my last car. Hence I bought all the bells and whistles and sure glad I did. The more I drive it the more I love it. Regarding fuel economy, maintenance, etc. it's too soon to tell.

I bought my Trailhawk with 12 miles on it. It is now around 4,000 miles and I am experiencing issues. When I turn the car on, it says that 4WD is unavailable and that power steering needs to be serviced. I took it to the dealer and they "fixed" it. Sure enough, two days after the service was completed (reset PCM), the same warning came on.

The button on the back of my steering wheel to navigate through pre-programmed stations has never worked. The dealer, Steve White in Hickory NC told me 3x they could find no problem. It skips stations, goes to stations never programmed, repeats several stations 2-3x. Havill in Jefferson WI saw the problem immediately. Despite their best efforts (replacing the button, updating the computer, new wiring harness) -it's worse than ever. And now the tailgate opens on it's own. They're contacting Chrysler but I'm looking at trades. I've had this since new, paid $40k, have the Trailhawk with 3.2 (which wasn't an option on this site), has only 15,000 miles.... Comfort, driving, etc is excellent. Very happy otherwise, but this is annoying enough to consider trade.

2016 trailhawk 3.2v6. The one exception, infotainment. uconnect 8.5 un is a nice big screen with good layout and easy to use. However, the voice is horrible. robotics, old, very poorly executed. It cant even do the most basic thing right. Texting will test your ability to not punch the screen. After say a very BRIEF and usually wrongly translated text your present by a female giving you options, like, add to message, redo message, bla bla bla, finally it gets to where it beeps and you can say send. Why won't they give us an option to shut the system up and just automatically send the message when done talking. It's mostly translated wrong text anyway no use trying to correct it. Instead, you have to wait FOREVER to send the dang text. After replying to two or three texts your ready to rip out the system and through it out the window!! MOST ANNOYING is the AUTO ac system. it simply doesn't work!!! If it's 100 deg F in the car and you set temp to 60 you still cant even hear the fan running. the system is SO reserved in how it utilizes the ac that it's worthless. To sum it up, a perfect vehicle ruined by what could be two simple software fixes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have owned Jeeps for 45 years....CJ-5, CJ-7's (1975-2008), JK Wrangler's (2), etc, In Sep 2015 I bought a new 2016 Cherokee Latitude 3.2L for my wife but wound up driving it myself and selling my JK manual - we're getting older now and needed a Jeep that is more comfortable - she opted to keep her little car.. But there was something vaguely not quite right with the Latitude. It had no tow points (had to hook a tow rope to the suspension to pull a car out of the snow)..it didn't seem like a Jeep; it sat a little lower (though it had 18" low profile tires). It was more a sports car with Jeep characteristics. I was afraid to take it onto the beach - wasn't sure of the tires and with no tow points I had my doubts. So after just 5,000 miles and 7 months I went back to Jeep and test drove another Wrangler, both the JK and JKU. Though I'd had the equivalent since 1975, this time it just didn't work - I just didn't want to go back. So, I wound up buying a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L with every option available including tow package, full sun roof, leather with ventilated seats, sound group, etc. The tow package was key but the way the car sat, the ground clearance, the tires, everything was just balanced and perfect - a stunning Jeep; what a difference something as simple as 2" of ground clearance and 245 tires will make. This is the SUV I've been looking for for the last 5 years ever since my wife of 36 years first complained about being jolted around in the JK Wrangler. It will do everything I want it to do including rock crawl (I installed Rock Rails just in case I go to Moab though they're unlikely to be used). It rides, handles, stops, crawls, goes through snow, sand, mud, handles interstates beautifully. It has a beast of an 3.2 6 cal engine that makes it run like a mini-Porsche Carrera. This Jeep will be with me for many many years.

This model was not listed in the review choices, so for the record, it is a 2016 Cherokee Latitude, 4x4, 3.2 V6 engine, tow package, cold weather pkg, safty pkg, comfort pkg, uconnect 8.4 with navigation. Manufactured 4/23/2016, purchased June 8th. Plenty of power, quiet, shifts perfect, and very comfortable. Just hit 1,100 miles, getting 30-31mpg on the highway. UPDATE -now at 3000 miles. Still perfect.

I took my first long trip in my new 2016 Cherokee Sport. First the Good. Gas mileage as stated on the sticker was the gas mileage I got. The comfort was good, not great. That's it. Nothing else good about this vehicle. Second: The Bad. Do they make shocks for this vehicle? I could feel every bump and crack in the road. On the highway you felt like you were constantly going over speed bumps. The radio was BAD. You couldn't hear the sound because of the thumping of the speaker against the dash. The air conditioner kept making noise. I could hear the engine when the vehicle was sitting at a light or when we were on the road. Now the UGLY: NOISE FATIGUE: Please stop the noise. It never stops. The radio makes ugly noise, the tires make noise, the air conditioner makes noise. I'm tire of the noise. I can hear other vehicles passing by. I can't hear the radio with all the noise. I'm giving this vehicle up as soon as I can. There, I'm tired.

I bought the 2016 jeep cherokee trailhawk with the V6 engine fully loaded with every package available. Great performance overall. The v6 to me is just right for the SUV. When you need the power its able to put it down well. The interior feels high class. Like I said I bought the vehicle fully loaded including the panoramic sunroof. It has been a great year so far. Maybe the fuel economy can slightly improve but other than that I'm not complaining. Really nice and refined suv for its class overall.

As a previous owner of a 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade and current owner of a 2008 Jeep Liberty, I am partial towards Jeep products. I had been researching the new Cherokee since it's introduction but wanted to wait to buy one until all the kinks had been corrected. I fell in love with the Trailhawk and finally bought a 2016 Trailhawk in February of 2016. I am extremely happy with this vehicle. My Trailhawk came equipped with the 2.4 liter four cylinder and nine speed transmission. When city driving just put it in " sport mode" and the four banger performs well with higher revs. When highway driving put it in automatic mode and I am getting 31 mpg on the highway(awesome). I have gone off road and this is where the Trailhawk really shines. The Trailhawk is exceptional on dirt and sand and on hills (ascending/descending). I am really impressed by how stable the Trailhawk feels when off road. By the way, I get many compliments on how great the Trailhawk looks. Most people don't recognize it as a Cherokee until they take a close look. It seems Jeep has made the perfect SUV for me and my family. I handed down the 2008 Jeep Liberty to my 18 year old son and he is happy with it. I look forward to the day when I can hand down this Trailhawk to my younger 11 year old son. Keep up the good work. I have owned many SUV's in the past and have not been as happy as I have been with this one. It is not as large as some of the other SUV's, so it is easier to manuver than other SUV's. The Cherokee also has a great turn radius which also helps. I purchased the trailhawk with the 3.2L engine and with all the upgraded packages. I test drove the 2.4L and that model was sluggish. This is the reason I went with the larger engine. The larger engine combined with the 9 speed transmission you will not be let down. It is also a quiet ride and with the trailhawk it comes with the locking rear diff, stiffer suspension, and larger off road tires. I have yet to find anything I do not like about this jeep!

I had been seriously shopping around for this type of car for quite some time. I had about five dealerships calling me. When I first test drove my 2016 Jeep Cherokee, I was a bit worried. I live on insanely curvy roads and this car could have handled the curves poorly. It didn't! It handles the twists and turns of my rural road beautifully! I got a great price from my local dealership, had a trailer hitch installed on it for hauling bicycles around and it looks so great! I love all of my car's features, but I do have one complaint; no CD player. It's not the actual car's fault though because I guess basically no new cars have a CD player installed. One day, I'll probably look into getting a CD player installed, but my iPod works just fine for now. All in all, this is the best car I've ever owned and I would highly recommend it for anyone that is looking for a quality vehicle.

Extremely comfortable drive, love the seats and all interior features. I am 6'4" 220 and feel very comfortable driving in it for long periods of time. We love taking it on road trips. If you don't need the V6 or 4X4 you can make a super economical purchase. If you do go with the 4X4, is the same 4 wheel drive system as a wrangler, and helps the resale value, and a lot better to take off road than most other mid size SUV 4X4. 4 other Jeeps have been in our family, we love them. If you're not into Kia, Hyundai, Honda, Mazda, etc. This is def an affordable option to explore.

My 2016 Jeep Cherokee has under 3K miles on it and it is a lemon. It has a water leak that causes floorboards to be soaked. Vehicle has been at dealership four times for this issue (currently still there). Each time they return the car to me they say they have sealed this or that and water tested. Each time the leak has quickly returned. I opened a case (#29199176) with Jeep/Chrysler. I want my money back. I am concerned about corrosion and long-term reliability issues with the vehicle. I worry about mold affecting my family's health. I want my money back so that I may buy a different vehicle and Move on. I do not have time in my life for this drama. I am super busy with high stress job, kids and a frail mother suffering from dementia. The last thing I need is an unreliable car which is why I purchased a new vehicle. I felt the jeep would be easier for my mom to get in and out of but clearly I should have gone with another SUV. So far I am underwhelmed by the response I am getting from Jeep/Chrysler. What a pain!!!

Make not mistake, this is a compact crossover that is semi-rugged, not fully rugged. In that sense, this vehicle is great. They've packed a lot into this body. Likes: Love the V6, mileage isn't great if you like to open her up but if you treat her nicely it will return decent mileage. Very quiet cabin, only really hear the engine loudly when flooring it. Alpine sound system is very nice. Lane Departure system works as advertised. Rear view Camera is awesome on the 8.4" screen, the computer is fast, recognizes your phone quickly and responds to commands quickly. Highly recommend getting the Safety/Convenience package that nets you the 3 items mentioned above. Interior space is decent. Dislikes: None yet really. The start/stop system when you are at the red light or at a stop seems to stop too late and start to early. Haven't looked at the settings yet to see what is up with that. Overall, really like it. What it offers that the others really don't is a nice V6 that provides sweet acceleration for zipping about......a major plus for me. Also, from a cost standpoint it is a good value after rebates etc. Mine MSRP'd at just over $30k and I got it for just above $24k. Lot of vehicle for $24k.

I have had my Jeep Cherokee Latitude for 5 months. In that time, I have put 1,600 miles on it (don't drive great distances). The color is beautiful--"Brilliant Black Chrystal Pearl coat." I opted for the 4-cylinder (184 horsepower) with the 9-speed transmission. The engine is a little buzzy, and get relatively poor gas mileage. Combined city (mostly) and highway has been under 19 MPG. Interior is great. Very comfortable seats. The 8.4 Uconnect screen is excellent. The ride is smooth. The car is rattle-free. I went for the customer preferred package, which includes 18 inch gloss-back wheels, all black fascia, grille, roof rails, and exterior badging. It also has the cold weather group, which includes remote start, heated front seats and steering wheel, windshield wiper deicer, heated mirrors, power 8-way driver seat with 4 way lumbar support. I also purchased an extended warranty. I have no complaints, except I should have purchased the 6-cylinder and CD player. So, there are highs ad lows. As you can see more highs. If you decide on this car, you should be quite pleased, but get the 6-cylinder.

Just bought this Jeep Cherokee five days ago. I wasn't really looking to buy a SUV. My husband talked me into taking it for a test drive. When I came back with it I really liked it. I haven't gotten a new car in some time. Drove real smooth, and it didn't even feel like a 4 cycle. The in side is real nice. I can't believe I went to a two door car to a SUV, that is how much I liked it..There are a few things I would of liked it to have on it. A sun roof, tinted windows, and the sound of the radio I wish it was a little louder, the volume isn't that high. I planning on keeping this for some time..I never thought I would be driving a SUV, when all the kids are gone and it's just me.... It's been 6 months now and I feel like I bought a lemon. It seemed like every month there was something going wrong with it took it in the dealership they were great about fixing it but who knows what's going to go wrong again. And I have only 2,7000 miles on it. If I had to redo it again I would go to the next step up !!

About my jeep cherokee trailhawk: I bought every option except the fancy audio speakers. After I ordered the car, Consumer Reports came out with best 10 safety options that every new car should have. With the trailhawk options I had every one on consumer report's list. The options are worth every cent. Just returned from drive from NYC to ski trip deep in Canada, a total of 32 hours of driving round trip. The Trailhawk was amazing, on highway or on snow or at city pace. If you cannot afford all the options i would not recommend the car. The options make it worth every penny, and make the car extremely safe to drive. That should be your first priority.

First of all after purchasing this car I feel like the stupidest person alive. I assumed there would be a spare tire or at least a donut which there is none, all you get is a tire pump filled with a one time use sealant where the spare should be. You think i would've checked before buying. The Uconnect voice commands only understand you 5% of the time, worthless. I purchased the Lifetime Warranty, which i assumed would be forever as long as I'm in ownership of the vehicle and breathing. This is not the case the Lifetime warranty becomes void as soon as the repair cost becomes more than the vehicles value at the time, I figure 10-12 years according to what i see on Blue Book Values, not to mention deductibles on warranty repairs which greatly affects warranty price. Last but not least, bring a calculator with you on any new car purchase and take the time to recalculate the dealers figures, mine offered me $1000 trade-in on my hunk of junk without even seeing it, which now that i think about it. He probably gave me nothing and made it seem like he did. Live and learn. I have only owned this for 3 days, so i don't know very much on performance and reliability, but from what I've seen so far, I think i'm in for a very bumpy road ahead. My first choice was a 2016 Hyundai Tucson, should've went back.

I set up test drives for both the Jeep and a Mazda CX-5 for the same day. My fiance and I drove the Mazda and we both really liked it. We went into it with a Mazda bias, and were only testing the Jeep to say we compared the Mazda to something. We finished the test drive and absolutely fell in love with this car. I'm 6'6" and am coming from a 2003 Kia Spectra, so this Jeep is a huge step up for me. The particular Cherokee we got is a 4x4 Limited 75th Anniversary Edition with the optional V6 engine and a moonroof. I wasn't sure the V6 was necessary, but I'm so glad I got it, because it is an absolute blast to drive. The fuel economy isn't the greatest thing in the world, but we went in knowing that. I'm also new to the area, so when we have a little extra money, we're going to spring for the Navigation system. I have only owned this Jeep for about a month now, but I don't have a bad thing to say other than the gas mileage isn't that great. But considering that's because I'm accelerating around people with a V6 all the time, I can't complain too much. Love this car!!!

We purchased our first Trailhawk when they were introduced in 2014. We traded in our Audi to purchase this Jeep, the first American car we have owned in the past 20 years. (We have been driving Mercedes, BMW and Audi's) We needed a comfortable SUV that was capable of towing my 3,000 lbs enclosed motorcycle trailer from our home in New England to our home in Florida a few times a year. Most of the German built mid sized SUV's had a max tow rating of 3,000 lbs, not enough safety margin for the distance we were traveling. The Cherokee Trailhawk with the V6 and factory installed tow package was rated @ 4,500 lbs. The capability, comfort, technology and quality was all rolled into a unique package that really impressed me. I was not expecting to like this vehicle as much as I did. The Cherokee never gave us any problems, and service was limited to oil changes and tire rotations. We never had any issues with the 9 speed transmission. With the miles piling up on our 2014 Cherokee we decided to trade it in on a 2016. Before purchasing, we thought that we needed to test drive a Land Rover Discovery HSE and the new Mercedes GLC, to experience these two new models. After living with and driving the Jeep Trailhawk for 2 years I felt that the Mercedes and Land Rover were not worth the consideration over the Trailhawk. Now that I've put a few thousand miles on our 2016 Trailhawk I've noticed a few things different from our old 2014. The ride is more refined, and the 9 speed transmission is silky smooth. The technology keeps getting better, and the U Connect system is the most user friendly system I have used in any vehicle, no matter the price. The doors close with a solid sounding thunk, reminding me of some of Mercedes we have owned.

When selecting to write a review it only let's you choose 4 cylinder from the drop down list. I absolutely love my Jeep Cherokee. This is my second one I've owned. Had a Chevy Tahoe after my first one, then a Ford Focus, and traded in a Hyundai Sonata on my new one. Rented a Jeep Cherokee twice last year while traveling out of state and decided to purchase a new one. It is the most comfortable vehicle I've owned. I average 23 mph in town and 28 mph freeway. Love the UConnect, has some of the best features of most manufacturers available and user friendly. Insurance only increased $58 a year because of all the safety features it has.

The Limited has great looks inside and out. Spend the extra and get the V6. Great get up and go. My only complaint would be the navigation system. I thought it was broken right after buying car. Can not program an address if parked in a lot that is not recognized by the satellite. ( Happened even in the service department parking lot.) Must then program with voice while driving. Service department knows about the glitch, but no fix available at this time. The connect system and screen also seems somewhat temperamental. (Has a mind of its own at times.) All in all, its a great SUV. The safety features are a bonus and make one feel secure. Press the @ button on your dash if you don't want the engine to stop when the car is at a stop sign, ect. (This feature was designed to save on gas, but it causes the engine to feel jumpy when going back in gear.) I would give the car and 8 out of 10. If you plan on keeping the car for a long, long time, get the extended lifetime warranty. It is worth it for peace of mind.

I bought a Liberty brand new in 2005 and LOVE it to this day. It was time to replace my husband's car, so the Cherokee seemed like the closest to the Liberty we coukd find. It is not. A Jeep in name only, we discovered the backseat has far less head room- I am 6'1" and my head is mashed against the ceiling. We have a toddler, and there is only about 5" clearance from the carseat to the ceiling- getting him in and out is very difficult. This is not a vehicle for you if you need to use carseats!!! As much as I LOVE my Liberty, I am so disappointed in the Cherokee. After only 5 days I am asking O'Brien to take it back. This is not an SUV, but a station wagon or "crossover" at best. MAJOR BUYER'S REMORSE. May 25th update: I had to take it in after only two months due to a loud creaking in the front end. They had to replace driver's side suspension. When I asked why it already failed the service manager said it probably came off the line faulty. Not a good feeling for a brand new suv you paid $30k for. The accerlation has gotten worse and is so lethargic I was almost tboned in traffic when it hesitated on me, even after I put the pedal to the floor. Not responsive even with the auto shutdown turned off. June 9th update: back in the shop AGAIN. Still lethargic acceleration and gear shifting continues to be labored + sunroof "clinking" when open and I hit bumps in the road. After one day they said they did another software update and replaced two faulty seals. The sunroof still clinks, but at a lower note than before. I continued to email and call the sales manager and the general manager, but no response for over two more weeks. Until today: the sales manager says he didn't get my emails or voicemails for some reason. He suggested I turn off the auto off button, which I have already done weeks ago, every single time I get in the car. I responded that I had already tried that and I continue to want to return the vehicle. They are now willing to discuss returning it but I have little faith that I won't lose my shirt on it - $4500 down and I've paid two months at $435. Meanwhile, they will reusel it at $29k and lose nothing. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. I will never buy another Jeep.

The first thing I want to take the time to review is the buying experience. I went to the Auto Nation in Pembroke Pines, FL. My sales guy was Michael Lewis. I saw him the day before I actually purchased the vehicle and knew that he would be the one to take me through the process. I came in the next day, told him what I was looking for and he made the process as stress-free as possible (also to mention I am 8 months pregnant). This is my first SUV, so the rating I am giving is purely off of first impression. I have the limited, which has a lot of bells and whistles that are impressive. The leather interior was a must have for me, which only comes with all limited vehicles. The larger screen and technology is not only a great feature, but also good for safety. The car comes equipped with 10 airbags. I am having a baby really soon and the safety features was a big deal for me, as well as having the larger space. So far, I have had a smooth ride, but I am still in the brand new stage of the vehicle. I am comfortable and very happy with this purchase. I was also concerned with the heavy engine, which is not an issue. My overall experience with this purchase was really great. My salesman had my hard tag the next day and made sure anything that I was missing was ordered. I recommend purchasing this vehicle and recommend purchasing from that dealership.

I've had my 2016 Latitude since December 2015 after having a 2005 Grand Cherokee for 11 virtual trouble-free years. I am amazed at all the bells and whistles this mid-price Cherokee has on it. My wife drives a Mercedes SL550 ($104,000 car) and the Cherokee has many of the features that's on the Mercedes, and in some cases, some the Benz doesn't have. We opted for the bigger engine upgrade (3.2-V6-25+mpg that I highly recommend), Comfort/Convenience package and the UConnet 8.4" screen upgrade. The incentives were great ($2K cash back + 0% for 60 months. I don't think I could have gotten more for the money anywhere else.

For the first 50 miles you will enjoy a quiet ride. After that expect a loud knocking from the engine. Imagine you are driving a1970 ford with the valves out of adjustment and about to throw a rod. Yes, that's what driving this car is like. Dealer says it's normal. Purchased at Moore Jeep Peoria AZ. Steer clear of this car until they get some competent engineers.

I just traded in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the 2016 Cherokee Latitude (v6) and OMG! I'm in love. I didn't think I would like a smaller version of what I had but I was wrong. The comfort, the bells and whistles and the road handling. I feel like I'm in a sporty type vehicle. It handles curves AWESOME! I'm happy. The ONLY thing that can be a little annoying is the ceiling noise. I guess, with the panoramic moon roof, the glass doesn't shield road noises like a metal ceiling would. But it looks FABULOUS when the roof is exposed! I love it! I'll always have a Jeep in my life! Since I only had 11 miles when I got it (2 days ago), I can't speak to the gas mileage yet, but the car is wonderful! I LOVED My Grand Cherokee, but it had soooooooo many issues. It was hard to part with it because it was truly my Dream car, but this baby Jeep has me wondering what took me so long. Great look, great "toys", great handling and GREAT car! But wait! Forgot to mention the fact that with UConnect, I am able to start my car from ANYWHERE. From my computer at my desk(!!!), from the mobile app on my phone or from my keyfob.

Storage only fair, need more space get a larger SUV. Shifts are smooth, I do feel pain for those that have experienced transmission problems. If a issue arises later I will edit my review. The V6 is powerful and merging into traffic is no problem. I did test drive the Jeep Cherokee twice and I urge everyone thinking about buying any SUV to do there homework. Bottom line I love my Cherokee. No problems after 10,200 and very happy with the mileage ( good 24 mpg) Seat comfort on long trips is very good. Stop start is sometimes a nuisance but I feel it does aid in better gas mileage. A smaller SUV but very solid on the road. P.S. no transmission problems.
