scary about purchasing a new car, been many years since I purchased a car. wanted to make sure the chose I made was the right one. my brother and sis-in-law were a deciding factor. over 20 years they have either both or one have owned a Hyundai. now the three of us all own 2016 Hyundai Tucsons, in different colors. happy with my chose. mine is in Caribbean blue. makes me smile.

Should have had me at hello.

The looks are what get you to the dealership right? In it's market space, the redesigned Tucson is sleeker than everything else. The exterior looks futuristic without being over the top. The interior is wonderfully laid out and minus being unable to get my seat JUST right (the headrests are simply odd) and maybe a few too many blind spots, it is knockdown awesome. But then you drive it. During the test drive you can feel a bit of sluggishness coming off the line, and you are reminded by the salesperson that this car comes with a fancy "dual clutch transmission". So you think, "well, brand new car, probably something I can get used to". But you can't get used to it. You can't get used to driving a stick without it being a stick. You cannot get used to the rules having a dual clutch transmission comes with ("don't creep up on the car in front of you in traffic, wait until there is some space and then pull forward". Seriously?). But you bought it and you just think that over time everything will be ok. And then comes the gear stalls. When you are in first gear and the DCT doesn't engage second gear, but the computer thinks it did so now your in some odd wonderland between first and second, sort of gliding (or stalling is more like it). And if you stomp on the accelerator, nothing happens....you've got to "tap, tap tap" the gas pedal and get third gear to engaged. And after you shut the car off for a bit and come back, it's like nothing ever happened and the dealership just claims ignorance. Its really unfortunate to lose as much money as I will when I offload this and go to something else, but I feel less and less safe every time I drive it.

Bought the KIA Sportage variant instead. Bigger engine ,a hair better built, same bad gas mileage, much better price. All in all either of them would be great. This new, from the ground up, total rebuild, produces a vehicle with Swisswatch precision quality parts, build, engineering, and great styleing. It's the best out there in either the KIA or Hyundai name plates.

Just Perfect

The car does not accelerate when you press on the gas. There is a tremendous lag time, which has resulted in serious safety concerns for me and my family. I'm told it's due to it's "dual clutch" (which recently had a recall...the fix did nothing). Regardless of the reason, it's not safe and I do not want it. Hoping to trade it in tomorrow.

My husband bought me this car to replace a CRV. It was the ultimate car of my dreams and despite the high cost, we leased it. At first the car ran great. I loved the interior and the color. However, after awhile, it started jerking going up hills and sputtering making turns. Eventually, it stopped going when I would press the gas to the point where I was almost taken out by a truck. The car was recalled whereas the recall stated my car needed a software update, and then a hood latch update and then again for another software update. Each time I took it to get the updates, it would run okay for a day, but after it would start with the transmission problems and sputtering and jerking. After riding the car on the highway for about 40 minutes, the "Transmission is too hot!" warning came on, but luckily I was right down the street from my home. We took it back to the repair shop and that is where it will stay until the problem is fixed or Hyundai takes it back. This car is UNSAFE to drive and Hyundai is NOT listing and won't until somebody is killed.

My first real lemon also!!

When I first purchased the vehicle I noticed a significant delay between pressing on the gas pedal and acceleration. Within one week of driving the Tuscon I was almost in an accident because the SUV was slow to respond through an intersection. I reported this to the dealer and was informed by one of his technicians that there was a recall and a software update was needed. The update was only moderately successful. The transmission is unpredictable in how it responds to steep hills, sporadically jerky, and still, at times, slow to accelerate only now its inconsistency keeps you sweating it out at busy intersections. Every passenger that has been in this vehicle has commented on it. I've talked to the technician and he told me this is the nature of a dual clutch transmission but he would look at it. I have told the owner of the Hyundai dealership on two occasions that I believe this vehicle is unsafe and should not be on the road.

We want to love this redesigned Tucson. We actually traded a 2014 model to get the upgrades included in 2016. However, after owning the car a year, we can firmly state that we would not purchase it again. After less than two months of normal driving, we began to experience the huge delay and hesitation in shifting from a stop. More than a few times, I felt that my safety was in serious danger. We took the vehicle back to the dealership multiple times to address the issue, but they did not appear to take our complaints seriously until we escalated the problem to the corporate level. At less than six months, our vehicle got an entirely new transmission replacement. It had literally been in the service department a quarter of the time that we owned it. We were very hesitant to accept the "resolution" of a new transmission, however we decided to give it a try. Another six months later, we have begun to experience the same issues again, particularly if the A/C has been turned on right after starting the vehicle. While the Aug. 2016 software update has yet to be installed, we are extremely disappointed in this vehicle. Our feeling is that there will continue to be "updates" for the life of the vehicle. We do not recommend it to anyone, because the time and energy spent trying to fix these MAJOR safety issues is not worth it. We firmly believe that someone will end up getting critically injured in one of these vehicles, resulting in a class action lawsuit.

Well Put Together. We Love it.

We had looked at the Tucson three years ago and were not at all impressed. This year we looked at the 2016 Tucson Limited and test drove it before we bought it. We were impressed with the changes. The interior quality was excellent with everything having a tight fit and the the driver and passenger electric seats are great. Very good visibility over the dash and hood. We love the push button start and auto tail gate opening as you approach the rear of the car. The BlueLink is easy to use and my wife loves it. The back up camera assist is huge. The radio sound system on the Limited is fabulous. And on this SUV the road noise and wind noise has been reduced significantly. The Navigation system is easy to use and we like the built in compass that shows in the rear view mirror and on the navigation system. The Limited has a 7" navigation screen plus extra safety features I won't get into. We love this car. The only down sides so far was that we paid a little more then we wanted to to get the bells and whistles we wanted plus the leather seats. But the apparent quality of the material, options we got and warranty sold us. One thing to note. We did not experience some of the more serious issues other reviewers noted regarding the Turbo Charger. We did note a slight hesitation in starting off after a "stop". The Dealer notified us a week later of a software fix which we had done and so far the engine in very very quiet as well as the transmission. And we get a smooth start. When the car is in idle you can't even tell it is running. Early days yet, but after looking at the material quality, road noise etc of Ford and Chevy this car has them beat. Now time will tell. If you want all the bells and whistles go with the Limited. We passed on the sun roof.

I am very disappointed in the 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited. My main concern is the acceleration issue particularly when one needs to make a left turn within an intersection or simply escape an unforeseen incident. I purchased the car new in May 2016 so there usually isn't any cause for alarm from a new car however this problem is such a cause. I have been driving it back and forth to work and traveling long distances for recreation so I have put it to the test. Yet, I am not happy, to say the least, that my car balks upon pressing the gas pedal from a stopped position. I am placing a compliant with my dealership but more importantly, I will contact the area manager to file my compliant. This is really a safety manner as I do not feel safe when I am placing myself at risk by possibly having an accident as a result of the car's poor construction.

Nothing else matters here, except the transmission issues. If you live anywhere where you might actually have to pull out quickly at any point, don't go near this vehicle. We had the 8/11/2016 "new" update done at the dealership, and we were holding out hope that would take care of our issues. Well, my wife just called me this morning - stepped on the gas to make a left turn, and the car just herked and jerked and just wouldn't get going. And today isnt one of the 95 degree days with the A/C cranking and you step on the gas and nothing happens for 1-2 seconds. 55 degrees this morning. You could give me this car for free today and I wouldn't take it. Starting down the road of heading to the dealership again

Renting it and loving it!

I am currently renting this vehicle and it has been almost perfect. Since it's a rental, it's the base version, without the turbo or the dual clutch transmission. Just the 2.0L engine and the 6 speed automatic. The weaker engine struggles just a bit in some situations, but I love this car so much, I don't mind. The engine is perfectly fine under normal circumstances, but load the car up with people and stuff and go up an incline and it will feel over-taxed. The steering and handling on this thing is just plain fun. I would not have thought that a simple people mover CUV would be so much fun to drive, but it is. Now, it's not a sports car, and it does start to feel a bit unstable at very high freeway speeds (over 90 mph - which traffic sometimes gets to on our Southern California freeways). Emergency maneuvers at highway speeds would probably be a bad idea (my normal car is a Mercedes sedan that is stable at just about any speed). The Tucson is also quite comfortable and roomy, both front and back. The cargo area is a very decent size, but it feels a bit smaller than the official figures. (Actually, I think the way cargo space is calculated gives an unfair advantage to SUV's and CUV's as compared to sedans). The gauges and infotainment features are very good, very informative, and very easy to use, especially considering that this is a base model. Overall, I love this car and can see myself buying it.

Forget CX5, buy a Tucson!

I really wished these reviews had been on this website before I decided to lease this car. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this car. I chose the 2016 Tuscon over a certified pre-owned Santa Fe and now I am regretting that decision. I got this car March of this year (2016) and everything seemed great at first. Oddly enough, I never noticed the hesitation when accelerating from a stop when taking the car for a test drive. I read a review on here that said that it was normal for a turbo engine but trust me, NOTHING about this engine is normal or safe. The dealership and Hyundai will also try to tell you over and over that the engine is normal. I receive BlueLink reports every month and EVERY TIME it has told me that the engine needs attention even though I have been getting regular oil changes and service performed. This never happened with the Sonata I leased before this car. Everything other reviewers have said about this car is true. It is extremely unfortunate because I love everything else about this car. I get compliments constantly on the look (I got the Caribbean blue) and the entertainment and safety features are awesome but I just absolutely hate the engine. Almost every time I try to accelerate from a dead stop, the car hesitates for a good 1-5 seconds and this leaves you completely stuck on the road. It feels like I'm being rear-ended whenever I'm in stop and go traffic on the freeway because the car is so jerky. It is also very jerky sometimes when accelerating. It's a nightmare!! Now I'm a person who gets motion sickness but usually I don't get car sick as long as I'm driving but I swear this car makes me feel sick! I was really hoping the software update would fix it but it didn't....I'm afraid it only made it worse because the car feels jerkier than ever. It also feels like the car isn't going to brake sometimes which is extremely scary. I have also had weird computer glitches. One time I turned the car on and the navigation system was stuck on the screensaver and would not work. Just recently, the car warned us that the back right tire had low tire pressure but my husband checked all of the tires and they were fine. I am also disappointed that it doesn't have a CD player....I'm sure most people wouldn't mind since everyone uses an iPod these days but I noticed that the other Hyundai models do and they're the same year. This seemed a little odd to me. It is VERY disappointing that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this very serious problem (the transmission, not the CD player lol). I considered myself a loyal Hyundai customer before but I think I'm going to have to look somewhere else for my new car. I plan to transfer my lease and get into a new car ASAP. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!

I've had the car a year and on my second service they replaced a part in my transmission. I asked why and they made it sound like a recall part, but it wasn't I found out. This is when the problems started. The car once warmed up and I come to a stop in drive position it would feel like someone was push on the car from outside, and making a rumbling that seemed like it was going to stall. I have taken in three time to have fixed with no help. Since my car has no lights indicating a issue my dealer or Consumer affairs Hyundai would help. I told the dealer to reverse whatever it was they did, but they said they couldn't. Besides this the car shifts all over the place and jerks you around its horrible and engine sounds terrible. The cloth interior is horrible I have white stain marks everywhere on my black cloth. If you get water or any kind of moistness on interior it stains. the only way to get fix is shampooing the car seats which is expensive. Lots of plastic and falling apart already. I'm really depressed because I have always had used cars and problems and finally bought a new car so I wont have to deal with issues and here I am again. I will be turning car into Lemon law attorney to take care of since no one can seem to fix. Also, I meet a girl with same car and same issues. These cars should be completely recalled they should not be allowed out on the road.

At this point you probably have heard about the dct (daul clutch transmission) issues.... They are real! I've experienced them and its no joke! There are times when you step on the accelerator (gas pedal) and the computer doesnt let out the clutch or slips it way to much and the car may or may not go anywhere! It's only happened 5 times in 4,000 miles but is unacceptable!!! The vehicle has never left me stranded for more than a couple of minutes, but definetly not good experience and could lead to an accident..... That being said, I just had the new update for the dct software done today. It's supposed to fix the problem. The update is labeled TCU UPDATE (16-01-035). released as of 8-11-2016. Only time will tell if this fixes the problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.... Providing this does indeed fix the problem i will go back to saying this is an amazing vehicle in every way!!! The turbo combined with the DCT is simply brilliant! well, its been 2 weeks since my software update!!! this is an add on to the review i did a couple of weeks ago.... Congrats hyundai!!! so far so good. Vehicle is driving perfectly now!!! It really is a shame for the bad rap this car is getting. Trust me, i understand, however i really believe the issue has been resolved! I challenge anyone reading this that owns the vehicle that the problem has been resolved to please post something positive!!! I'm only doing this because i really love my tuscan turbo and would hate for people to miss out on an amazing vehicle. I would like to bet if this software was right from the get go that this car would be receiving rave reviews!!!

I purchased a 2016 Tucson in April . this was my all time favorite car, until last week. I drive on the interstate every day and often experience heavy traffic. this day was no exception. I was in stop and go traffic. it was about 90 degrees outside. I took my foot off of the brake and stepped on the accelerator and the car would not go. there were no indicator lights on. I put the car in park and retried and the car would not go. I was in a traffic jam so I put on flashers, called the Hyundai motor assistance and began the wait. the car continued to run not overheating no indicator lights. finally some concerned motorists came to my rescue and pushed me off of the highway, because by this time I was causing a traffic jam. while on the side of the road, the transmission overtemp alarm indicator came on. this was more than an hour after the problem began. I shut down the car. AAA came and he started my car and it was fine. I felt like an idiot. I figured that the dealership would say that I was making it up or that women don't know how to drive. I was on the highway stranded for 3hours and by the way the road side assistance never showed up. they called 5 hours later at my home to ask if I was safe. my car is still at the dealership. they do not have a fix and the service manager was very nice and honest. the big problem for me is that this car is not safe and Hyundai is in denial. I'm going to the tv networks as this looks like it fits the criteria of a lemon.

The transmission is unreliable. Have about 3600 miles on my new car and I never know when it won't go into gear! Tried to go into reverse this morning and the car would not move when I stepped on the gas...dangerous! Have had it to the dealer twice about the transmission and they have a canned speal that says it performs like other cars of this year and model (in other words, ALL of them are flawed). Internet says they are working on a software update and Nissan dealer (who services it in my area since there is no Hyundai service dept. available) hinted a software fix is coming. Hope it comes soon and before I get hit or ram into another vehicle due to the flaw in the transmission! My advice: don't but a Hyundai Tuscon until they address this issue!!!!

mostly i am enjoying this vehicle. but the front seat has become more and more uncomfortable. specifically the headrest. it makes not sense to me that it needs to be jutting out so far as to push my head and neck out of alignment. i tried a cushion, but nope. 2 weeks ago i found out i have 2 ruptured discs in my neck after 2 weeks or so of neck pain. now i'm in physical therapy to treat this problem, which involves proper alignment of my shoulders and neck. this headrest is messing with all of it and there is no way for me to get comfortable or sit correctly in this seat with this headrest in place. did the headrest contribute to my neck problem. i can't say it didn't. had i known all this, i would not have bought this vehicle. i am 5'1.5" and very petit, so my this may be conflicting with the design of this seat. but no matter what my height and build, i should still be able to get a comfortable position.

I test drove this car righ after this model arrived at my local dealership. Liked everything about the car except one fatal flow - the DCT transmission failed to move the car from the intersection when the light changed to green for about 5 seconds after I depressed the pedal. The dealer made an awkward attempt to convey that this is normal for this transamission type. I turned around, drove back to the dealeship and parted our ways. If I ever drive this car agin - I would like to invite the company management family members for a ride along and see if they value the lives of their loved once the same way they value the lives of their customers. Please stay away from this car - it may get you killed.

Dangerous car. I bought a 2016 Tucson and after owning a 2012 Tucson and New Genesis I thought this was a Quality product. Not so with this vehicle. Transmission would not go in gear when I stopped at lights or would slow down to 20 mph on the open road. Very dangerous. There is no fix at this point. The dealer who was great changed the clutch actuator and it worked for a month. After almost getting hit by a truck I decided I had enough of Hyundai pretending they never heard of this while there are hundreds of owners on the web complaining that they can not drive their cars, I decided to take a loss and traded it in on another brand of vehicle. I guess corporate profits over customer safety.

Love this vehicle...except that weird thing with the transmission that when stopped and in drive gear, just wont move when it's time to go! I have experienced all of the problems everyone has been complaining about in the 7-speed DCT. Just fyi, I took it in to my dealer on Tuesday for this issue. On Thursday morning (8/11/16), Hyundai released a software update to correct this issue. I picked up the car on Thursday, and it seems to have worked so far. The tranny even seems to have a little more pick-up from stop to go. So far, pleased. Call your dealer and ask about the software update. This might just fix the problem.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is a great overall crossover SUV! I am driving the ECO/AWD/Turbo model for almost a year. The only complaints we have about the Tucson is the feel of the transmission during quick take offs and the headrest.

Another Tucson that could get someone killed.

Purchased car four months ago and loved it until about 3500 miles when the transmission started acting up, at an intersection, step on the gas and car goes nowhere, just like you're in neutral. Took in in to the dealer was told the tranny needed a software update, got it back the next day took it for a long ride in the mountains and guess what happened. Dealer doesn't know how to fix it now, started a case with Hyundai, I am refusing to accept it back from the dealer until it is safe. Got a call from Hyundai a few days ago, they tell me they are working on a fix but it is three to five weeks out, they did however, offer to buy it back. I read the sample buyback letter and it looks like if I accept the offer I will pay for mileage, lose the money paid for gap insurance, and since I was about $1800 upside down in my trade in I will owe that money too, great, I will owe $3000 and have no vehicle. Awesome service for a defective car that could have killed someone. Thanks very much Hyundai, my fifth new Hyundai purchase will be my last.

10 months ago I drove my selling dealership crazy because I wanted the 2016 Tucson Limited so bad. Now I am scared to death to drive my vehicle and recommend all buyers stay away until Hyundai resolves the problem with the Dual Clutch Transmission. On three separate occasions (after 11,000 miles), I have been stopped at a traffic light and depressed the gas pedal on green. The vehicle would not move. The RPMs ran over 4,000 and the vehicle still would not move. Verified car was in Drive on the cluster/shifter and parking brake was off. I managed to get the vehicle moving after several minutes of throwing the shifter into park and then into drive and then flooring the gas pedal. In all three instances, I was incredibly lucky to not be in an accident or cause an accident. I took it to the dealership and they kept it for 5 days. They could not replicate the problem and the vehicles had no error codes. They made me feel like a fruitcake or something. They reset the transmission control module which my Hyundai Case Manager verified won't fix the problem. I have been unable to get the dealership to give me a loaner so I drive my vehicle not knowing when the problem will repeat. Will I get into an accident this time or get killed? With the complaints building on Edmunds and NHTSA, Hyundai needs to stop selling the Tucson and order all of them off the road. At a minimum, Hyundai needs to admit publicly that there is a problem and that owners should be offered loaners by Dealerships if they so request one. Also, owners should have the option of requesting that Hyundai buy the vehicles back. I don't want to give up my Tucson but I want to live more!

Nice car and you get a lot for the price. A couple of issues: the car is underpowered. The care seemed to struggle under hard acceleration. To me 175 hp is anemic. The car does not have seat memory which a car at the price range should and no power folding mirrors which in this day in age should be standard at this price point as well. The car colors are not exactly the best either.

Leased the vehicle end of May 2016 - fell in love with the style, comfort, features... On July 25, 2016, took vehicle in for hood latch recall with 1332 miles on the vehicle. While at the dealership service center, they performed a software update. This update created the instrument panel too illegible - the instrument cluster was defected. The part was ordered and it was to take 30 days to be delivered. Fortunately, it took 10 days. Picked up the vehicle on 8/4/16 after work, drove less then 1 mile came to a stop light once it turned green the vehicle would not drive. Being in the center lane of the highway with flashers on, on coming vehicles just missed slamming into the rear. Finally got it back to the dealership, they have indicated it is the dual clutch issue. This is very unsafe vehicle to drive since you would not know when it would just stop shifting and driving. Have registered a complaint with Hyundai Motors as the service department does not know when the vehicle will be repaired. Thank the Lord no one was killed this time! Now I feel this car is unsafe to own. I have a case started with Hyundai Motor Corp. Will see if they stand by their warranties and safety policy!

Like other reviews the DCT is dangerous and this car should not be on the road. Had 3 occasions when the car has completely failed to accelerate, luckily in each case no one behind me and not crossing a road. After the first occasion took it into the dealership they "updated" the software but did not inform me this is a known issue. Next day happened twice within a few minutes, plus overrevved when changing from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. Took the car back to the dealership and they admitted this was a know issue and the software update does not work. Hyundai are meant to be working on a new version, timeline unknown. I have requested a buyback from Hyundai and filed complaint with NHTSA, where there are hundreds of similar complaints. Hyundai and their dealerships should be getting this car off the road. Based on my customer service to date I will never buy another Hyundai or use this dealership chain. Even if they provide an update will almost certainly sell immediately.

I bought my 2016 1.6L Turbo DCT Tucson Limited w/ Ultimate package the night of May 16, 2016. First incident: within 300 miles, stepped on the gas pedal & it didn't move; kept stomping on the pedal; it finally lurched forward, into oncoming traffic, then didn't move; kept stomping; it jerkily and slowly starting lurching forward; the engine was revving high through all the gears, but it didn't "kick in" until about 5th gear. Second incident: backed out of my driveway and put the car in Drive; it revved through about 5 gears and hadn't moved yet. Third incident: stopped at a red light; light turned green and car wouldn't moved; shifted through all the gears (Park, Neutral, Reverse, Drive) about 6 times before it finally peeled out and sped through the intersection (sure am glad the light was still green, because I wasn't looking). Headed straight to dealership. They discharged the capacitor and "re-taught it the system". Mine was not the first Tucson brought back to the dealer. Thought I noticed a failure to accelerate within a day or two, but was confirmed when... Fourth incident: Turning left, after stopping at a Stop Sign; mid-turn an oncoming car was approaching rapidly so I stepped on the gas pedal; it revved over 4K RPMs, but didn't accelerator; oncoming car swerved to miss me; frightening as hell! My Tucson has been at the dealership since June 24th. I've been told many stories: waiting on a back-ordered part; part due in 7/16/16; manufacturer instructed dealer not to install part because it isn't a "fix"; filed complaints at carcomplaints.com, NHTSA, Hyundai Corporate, and now here; as of yesterday (8/1/16), I've been told a "fix" was discovered last Friday. It's supposedly going through the approval stages and should be disseminated to the dealerships within 2-3 weeks. I know I didn't get to drive my Tucson for very long, but, what I did have the opportunity to experience (interior, comfort, & technology) I fell in love with, or I would have gone through the Lemon Law and gotten rid of it. There was even talk of a "buy back", but I really wanted to wait for my Tucson. I don't have buyer's remorse, I just have great disappointment that Hyundai sold me this 2016 Tucson in the first place, knowing they are death-traps that they can't keep on the road nor fix, and knowing they are releasing 2017s with the same faulty DCT. If there is not truly a remedy in the near future, I will be squeezing that Lemon.

Stay away from this vehicle. I have 13,000 miles. DCT transmission always acting up. Sometimes stalls, hesitates off the line, will not move forward / acts like it is in neutral when starting at red light. Dangerous vehicle, never no if you are going to move forward when you accelerate. It acts up several times a month. Most of the time the Dealer cannot replicate it because you can not make it happen. Very aggravating.

Brand new Hyundai Tucson purchased February 2016. Weather turned hot in June. Car would not accelerate at all after stopping at red lights. Foot on accelerator all the way to the floor. Tachometer reving but car not going. Happened numerous times. Car brought in June 29 and kept by dealer at manufacturers request. Finally contacted by corporate. They state it is a "software"issue in the dual clutch transmission and they now have a fix. Turbo engine has significant lag even for a Turbo. They are still selling 2016 Tucson 1.6 turbos and now 2017 although the fix has not yet been validated and is not ready to install. Those cars at the dealers still have the faulty transmissions and are not safe to drive. If stuck at a light, stop sign, making a left turn, or intersection you run the risk of being hit and having a catastrophic accident because your car esssentially is not in gear and cannot accelerate forward. You are a sitting duck!

On July 3 and 15 almost within a 2 week span, I was driving slowly uphill on a slight incline hill for about 1 1/2 miles and through 2 different tunnels. I was caught in 2 traffic jams. A vehicle stalled in the tunnels that caused only one lane to be useable and caused the traffic jams. The traffic was merging from 2/3 lanes to 1 lane, and moving slowly, bumper to bumper. I had the warning messages and sounds that the transmission was overheated and to stop my car. Since it was unsafe to stop in the tunnel, I forced my vehicle move out of the tunnel. I was only allowed to drive very slowly. Even by pressing the accelerator pedal, I could barely get the car to move. I could only stop at a safe location outside of the tunnel. Although there were numerous cars that got stuck in the traffic jams, they did not have problem like me and were able to drive faster once they passed the stalled vehicle and the other lanes opened up. I was lucky for not being stalled in the tunnel that could have caused a hazard condition and a safety problem.

I bought my Tucson Limited in February 2016. This was my 3rd Hyundai and I never had issues before. The car was not right from the beginning..,,,the ride was uneven and the transmission was jumpy..I had it in 3 times in the first month for the rough ride and they ended up replacing all 4 tires. Things were ok until a few weeks ago when the transmission started really acting up. I was in traffic and stopped at a light and when i stepped on the gas to go, the rpms went up but the car would not move. It happened 5 times that day. I took it to service and they told me there was "no known issue" and they said they could not replicate it so there was nothing they could do. One week later I went to make a turn and the car would not move. I almost got hit. I called service again and this time they said they did a "software update" and it was fixed. That lasted one week and it happened again last Friday on my way to work. Its in the shop now. They have given me a rental. As soon as I get this car back I am trading it in. I know i will lose a lot of money but I am so scared to drive it again. I have submitted cases to Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration. This car is dangerous. Does someone have to get injured or die before they do a recall? It will happen if they let this go.

This vehicle is amazing, but buyer beware. There is a serious issue with the dual-clutch transmission in this vehicle which results in ZERO power to the wheels, occurs intermittently, without notice, and will leave you stranded in the road. -Hopefully not when you're turning, or otherwise facing oncoming traffic. This issue must be fixed, and Hyundai has thus far had a very poor response on the problem. Otherwise, this vehicle is absolutely amazing, and you will not find a better value in the segment. Loaded with technology, loaded with safety and loaded with value. -But be sure to research the DCT issue before buying.

In March of 2016, I purchased a Hyundai Tuscon Limited with a 1.7L Turbo and dual-clutch automatic transmission. About a month later, when accelerating, the engine would rev, but the car would not move. Very dangerous in traffic! Took it back to dealer. Told they were aware of the problem - called "false neutral" - and Hyundai was "working on it." Told me to take it home and not come back until I heard from them. Needless to say, it kept doing it, making driving pretty scary. Reached out to Hyundai Customer Care. After several weeks, they finally called me back. Told me to take it back to the dealer, leave it, and I would be provided a rental. The dealer told me it could be weeks, or even months, before I get it back. I'm driving a basic rental car while my $31,000 Tuscon sits collecting dust.

This car is not safe. Dual clutch transmission will end up hurting somebody. Vehicle will unexpectedly stall and put people/families in danger. Dealerships are not able to respond to customers. Not an isolated problem (see reviews). How is there not a recall on this vehicle? Vehicle is currently at dealership (shop)...I don't expect it back anytime soon. I really hope my dealership steps up and takes care of this....looking at a Subaru Outback.

The turbo engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) are downright dangerous. On numerous occasions, when beginning to accelerate, the engine will rev while the car doesn't move for several seconds before the transmission kicks in. Sometimes it never kicks in and you have to put it in "P" and back to "D" to go. Took it back to the dealer, who told us several Tucsons have come back with the same problem. They reset the computers and said don't bring it back. Hyundai is "working on it." Yea, right. I've complained to everyone who will listen: Hyundai Customer Care, Consumer Reports magazine, Safecar.com, and the state Attorney General's office. In the meantime, I'm warning everyone to stay away from Hyundai.

I purchased my 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited at the end of May 2016. For about five weeks, I enjoyed the comfort, smooth ride, quiet cabin and features. Unfortunately, after about five weeks, I had to have the vehicle towed to the local dealership because of problems with the “dual clutch transmission” (DCT). It appears that I am not the only person experiencing problems with the DCT (the Eco, Sport and Limited models of the Tucson). You should check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “safercar” web-site to see the over 100 complaints 2016 Tucson owners have reported about the DCT before you buy one for yourself.

I traded in my 2011 Hyundai Tucson and regretted it very fast. I had never had an issue with my 2011, so I decided to get a newer and better version and it was a big mistake. Within 2 weeks it was in the shop. It stalls occasionally which is extremely dangerous, the air condition starts throwing out hot air and then goes back to cold after a while. the RPM's go up and down, but the shop hasn't found anything wrong with it. It is in the shop again, and hopefully this time they will be able to fix it and find exactly what is wrong with it. It also has a few recalls which are said to cause accidents. I do not advise anyone to but this car until it is completely fixed.

The lag when you accelerate is not only annoying but DANGEROUS. Several times I have tried to pull out into traffic where I really needed to pick up speed quickly. Hit the gas and the car sits there for a few seconds.....and THEN darts out into traffic when you have another vehicle coming up on you. Also, forget about using the ECO or even regular setting. If you want any pep AT ALL, plan on having it in Sport mode all the time. And even then you aren't getting much. Fuel economy not even close to what they say. The most I have gotten in city is 17 mpg and it has been as low as 12.....yes 12!!!! This will be my last Hyundai.

This DCT transmission in the Tucson Ltd. 1.6 Turbo is an accident waiting to happen. My wife got stuck while trying to enter 4 lane divided highway. The car stalled while trying to enter traffic and luckily cars were able to avoid her. I put the car in reverse on a hot day and it wouldn't move. We owned the car only two weeks when all this went on. The dealer has the car now and hasn't been able to diagnose or fix. We heard there is no fix available. Don't by this this car.
