Frustrating technology

I had the Touring 6 months 5 K miles and was frustrated by the tech system used. The Bluetooth rarely understood commands, dropped my phone continuously, did not have my phonebook most of the time , rebooted itself, just pure frustration. My wife did not like to noise or seat comfort. Body parts not fitted well. On the good side it got great MPG, looked good, handles well But the turbo lag along with the CVT was frustrating as well, try to get out into traffic was waiting a second till the turbo spools up along with the CVT stunk . Traded it in 9 weeks ago and the dealer is still sitting on it as they lower the price weekly.

I'm really irritated by the poor window/door seal on the driver's side. At 50+ mph you can hear the wind whistling, like the window is cracked a tiny bit. The dealer and Honda America say it's just a characteristic of the vehicle, but my 2015 Civic doesn't do this, nor my 2007 Civic, nor my 2005 Civic, nor the 2002 Civic we had previously. Test drive at 50+ with the radio off and listen before you buy this car. I wish I had. There is no fix at this time. By the way, I'm guessing at MPG below. I haven't actually checked that.

getting in and out of car can be little inconvenient. I felt the Pickup was ok not great. Drove it to Hoston Tx and back runs good, good mileage, For long trips be ready to fill often as the gas tank is only 10 gallon.

Gets lots of second looks.

Drove from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe (450 miles one-way, mostly two lane highway) and got just over 45 MPG each way driving in Economy mode mostly at 72 MPH. When I needed to pass trucks, campers, etc. I'd just switch the Econ mode off, make my pass utilizing the oomph of the turbo, and then put the Econ mode back on. Front seats are low but very comfortable. Trunk is cave-like. It took Honda forever to have auto -on headlights - they still lag behind with no universal garage door opener.

I own a brand new 2016 Civic Touring Sedan: problems with its navigation system started the very next day. It either cannot 'find' the satellites or it shows your location completely wrong, on another street or in a forest or in a lake! Took it back to he selling dealership twice: first time for a week to have the navigation 'head' replaced - no improvement. Second time for another week to have the antenna replaced. If that doesn't help either I'll take it back again, and again: thank God for the existing Lemon Laws.

This is the fourth Honda I've owned. Never had too many problems with the others so I decide on the 2016 Civic for my newest car purchase. It's a great car, as long as you don't care to know how much gas you have. With only 1100 miles on it, the gas gauge stop working. Well, not entirely. It has a bug where it only won't work in the morning. If you drive it around, turn the car off, and then turn it back on, it will work. But its a brand new car; I shouldn't have to do that. I took it back to the purchase dealer and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Took it to a second dealer (now at 1600 miles) and they currently have it in the shop and are keeping it overnight. I'm very very disappointed in Honda and in my purchase of this vehicle. Who knows what will go wrong next? Think long and hard before purchasing this vehicle as the quality of Honda has gone significantly downhill.

I really love the new design, and roomier interior. This was supposed to be for my wife who is small and I thought might be too small for me to drive, not the case.Very comfortable to drive and lots of room.No complaints, although I dont like the brake button near the center of console, too easy to hit by mistake and for me the jury still out on the capless gas tank. Im just used to having a gas cap my whole life so will have to get used to it.Otherwise this is my 4th Honda previously had a 2003 Civic,2006 Accord, still have my 2014 Crosstour (which I love) so totally sold on Honda!

I have always wanted a Honda Civic always dreamed of having one! The deal breaker was the price of the car and available tech options. I hate leather seats....I shouldn't have to upgrade to the highest model to get satellite radio. My major requirements were Bluetooth, satellite radio, leather wrapped shift knob....the car drives great but having to pay so much for a base model with no satellite radio...even on the fit it's not standard...I went with a Kia Forte.

After owning several Honda's I left the brand a couple years ago and leased a Lexus. With the introduction of the 2016 Civic I returned to the Honda brand and purchased a 2016 Civic Coupe in touring trim - which is loaded to the gills. I couldn't be happier to be rid of my Lexus because I now have a car with more features for half the cost, and the interior, noise and harshness levels, and ride quality all mimic a car costing thousands more. Everything seems really well put together, the only complaint I have thus far is the drivers seat is a bit firm - but after a leather treatment it seems a bit more flexible. I'd definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone seeking a premium coupe loaded with luxury, tech, and safety features for not a lot of money.

2016 Honda Civic EX-T 4 months of ownership

This is my honest review of my new 2016 Honda Civic EX-T after owning it for almost 4 months. Important Note: This is the first car I've owned but I've rented different cars before. I want to begin by saying that this car is fantastic. The moment I test drove it, I fell in love with how amazingly it drove. The car drives perfectly, takes bumps very well, handles amazingly, and overall is a great car for getting from point A to B while providing some sportiness. If I were to pick an issue with the performance, it is the turbo lag. It doesn't happen often and doesn't affect the safety of the car but there are moments where it takes a short while for the car to start going. Other than the occasional rare lag, it runs extremely well. The comfort of the car is great for its class. The only issue is that this car is relatively low so it can be hard to get in and out of the ground. I've had many instances of having my shoes come into contact with the door and causing stains. The dual zone is a blessing especially in hot days. The seats are not the best but they are pretty good. They can get stained. The front interior of the car is just amazing. The layout of the dash and touchscreen are well thought out and make the car seem more luxurious than it actually is. The back interior is a different story. The back seats aren't as well thought out and I recommend an Accord if backseats are important. The design of the seat belt for the middle seat is awkward. The seat belt straightener is placed too close to where the passenger would rest their head. I've had a passenger hit their head trying to rest. The doors of the back seat in the EX-T lack the same cloth stitching seen in the front seat. Besides these flaws, the backseat has its merits, it is roomy for a compact sedan. The technology in the EX-T is terrific, dual zone, heated seats, a sunroof, and android auto/carplay make this car very luxurious. What really amazes me is the fuel economy of this car. I've been getting around 36 mpg average doing mostly highway driving. I drive around 80 miles a day for 4 days and I only need to refuel once per week. Other issues I've had with the car include: glitches with the climate control where it wouldn't turn off or kept blowing at my feet, rare backup camera issues, and an occasional door rattling noise. Overall, I highly recommend this car, the driving experience is great, the interior/exterior are well done, the fuel economy is top of the class good. Only few quality issues and glitches seem to put a small dent in an otherwise great compact sedan.

The problem here is that I was looking for a five star car at a four star price. The Civic is a fantastic car for the price but the touring model does not have the same feel of an Acura TSX or Lexus ILS etc. even though they seem to have the same features. The gadgets all work but the feel is just one of "Its a Honda Civic". I would not open my eyes inside of it and think I was in a luxury sedan, but rather a fully loaded popular priced model. If that's what you want, that's what they deliver.

This is my second Honda Accord and my 2016 Civic EX is really a magnificent car. For under 20k it has many features and extras. Keyless, moonroof, really sharp exterior, backup and side mirror are some of my favorites. I totally recommend this vehicle. It should be at the top of everyone's list if you are looking for a 4 door sedan with plenty of room inside and a stylish looking exterior. I bought the black and it looks amazing.

Love the car: comfortable, big for a "small" car, good gas mileage (37 mpg combined), smooth riding. One big worry: navigation system has problems - either get stuck in a "searching" mode or it shows the car completely off the road. Wondering if anybody else has a similar issue - resetting the system didn't fix anything.

The rear view camera is not as good for backing as I thought. It does not guide you well based on the camera despite the extra features and three views permitted. Perhaps I have not yet got the knack for using it. (The kia forte 2013 with a single view (which I also use) is much much better and less confusing to make steering adjustments). The bottom rear camera view just behind the car is useful for parking as is the passenger side view camera. A little longer than I wanted in a compact sedan and therefore harder to park in tight spaces. However no other compact sedan I looked at has nearly as much trunk space. The look of the car is striking in its class and the metallic blue color I have it in is also striking. Horn volume is puny. The car drives beautifully and steers beautifully with little or no noise. Very quiet drive and once I was at 90 mph and had no idea I was moving that fast. Better than anything else I have ever driven yet! Turning radius is great also for size. The rolling resistance is very low and the car goes a long distance before stopping with the foot off the pedal. I mean it can coast! Continuously variable transmission did not seem to affect the driving negatively. It picks up acceleration very quickly and is not an issue entering a highway ramp. Handles small bumps fine, but hit a big bump and you know it from the tires. Good fuel efficiency especially in eco mode which I use for city driving. Brakes are great. Even has a brake hold if you are stuck in traffic for a while. Would have liked a volume button for navigation. It is buried deep in the screen and can't be changed easily on the run. Price a bit on the high side but it does have a lot of technology in this price range. Love the lane guidance system ( slight steering wheel judder warning) and the brake warning system which can be adjusted to distance from the car in front. Not always optimal but useful if one is sleepy or tired. Phone pairs easily and automatically using bluetooth. Has Airplay. Remote start is great for both hot and cold days. A/C and heater comes on as appropriate to settings left in the car from previous trip with remote start. Side view camera on the right is great. Now why not a side view camera on the left? Audio was OK. There was no volume button on the panel , but there was one on the steering wheel. AC works just fine and adjustments are easily done on the run. Front seats are low compared to the back seat and my right knee always hits the steering column when getting in the car. I am 5' 11". The driver's seats do not slide back far enough to get really comfortable and there is little lumbar support. A clear design flaw. The back seats on the other hand are spacious and much more comfortable. Not enough emphasis on comfort wrt the driver's seat. The back windshield slopes such as to give a limited field of view in the rear view mirror. I saw this as a glaring safety shortfall that could have been easily fixed by design adjustments but this seems to be a common problem in newer cars as they emphasize form over safety function. However I do love all the warnings you get in the speedometer screen if you have left a door open, etc. Not sure I would trade it for any other car though. It was between the Elantra Ultimate package which has similar technology features and the Honda Civic and the Honda won but not by much though. The Mazda 3 was a great driving experience , did not have the same level of technology in its touring version as did the other two cars mentioned above, but the stand alone navigation screen on top of the dash would be tempting to thieves as it can easily be ripped out and that is why that was out too. Preferred the navigation style in the Mazda and the Elantra to that in the Honda. Would have liked automatic folding in of side-view mirrors to make it easier to get it into my garage. Did not look at American brand cars due to reliability issues. The Elantra has the best warranty. The Honda warranty is confusing. They indicate they will support repair for 36,000 miles bumper to bumper but my dealer told me it would only be 12,000 miles at no cost. It is not clear what changes in service cost between 12,000 and 36000 miles. Check with your dealer. I am still looking into this apparent discrepancy so buyer beware. Any of these three cars in their loaded versions are all high quality and will not disappoint. These are all good cars for senior citizens in their seventies, such as myself, who prefer a lot of safety and technology in the car as aids to increasingly slowing reflexes, and vision impairment with age. If they had the Honda Fit (smaller car) with the same technology in the loaded version, I would have bought it in a heartbeat! Younger drivers may save some money with the EX version which has some of the technology features available in the touring version. Get the 1.5 L turbo engine though.

Great new exterior/ interior styling. The interior feels big for a compact size car. The 2.0 L engine has enough power for normal use and delivers excellent fuel economy. No problems so far and the overall build quality seems excellent.

I love my civic already!!

I really had to stop myself from giving this vehicle all 1 stars throughout the rating, but I tried to be unbiased as possible. Long story short, after 5500 miles my fiance had to replace the entire transmission. Yes, everything was covered. But the total experience throughout the fixing process completely ruined my trust in Honda as a company. I took the car in for an oil change and to check the transmission (when putting the car in drive, it will take a few seconds then jump into gear). Not a big deal, but the car is brand new, so I took it right into the dealership. Checked in the car 6:30am. 9 am rolls around, still no word. After speaking to the rep, he said the tech was on the phone with Honda engineer because it's a brand new model of the civic. Makes sense. After 2 days of me calling to check on the car, (not the dealership calling me to inform me) they finally put in the order for the trans without even calling me first. That was their first mistake. Then they said it will be in on a Friday, didn't show up until the following Wednesday. Luckily we were on vacation and didn't need the car anyway. The rep told me our civic was the first one to have this problem. I get it, things happen. But what did Honda do to regain our trust? One free oil change. We are currently looking for another vehicle now and never buying another Honda. Until this day, Honda still doesn't know what's wrong with the trans. I wouldn't recommend this car to my worse enemy.

Buy the LX and don't look back

The car handles and drives really well. The seats are comfortable, and the finishes are high quality. There are many things in the car that are not found in more expensive cars, such as the automatic brake hold and choices on rear view camera angle. Gas mileage is stellar. I use this as a commuter car.

Surprised Happy Owner

The Civic is much more luxurious than I expect. The cabin is very quiet, something you would find in a more expensive car. It has a blind side camera, so when want turn right or make a lane change to right, the blind spot on passenger side pops up on the led screen. Very handy in the city, when there are bicyclist in your blind spot. Over all very happy with the purchase.

2nd civic I've bought

The one complaint I have is the passenger seat is too low! Feels like the passenger is sitting in a hole. Bought a cushion to help a bit. The Sirius antennae cover on the roof is too large--looks like a shark fin! I do like the car and safety features. Expensive car tho!

Great tech, great daily driver, great purchase!

Yep, there's no volume knob. Moving on. I drive this car about 25 miles a day for my commute. I've put a little over 7000 miles on it in the 10 months I've owned it and am averaging 36.9 mpg. Things I like: acceleration once the turbo kicks in, sport mode, info-tainment system, Android Auto, interior storage, gas mileage, quiet cabin, feeling of quality of interior, brake hold is awesome! Things I'm not crazy about: price is a little steep, but not crazy, no adjustable lumbar support (come'on Honda!), CVT is really hesitant from a dead stop. Overall, nothing is perfect, I love this car. To me, the lack of a volume knob is made up for with the touch sensitive steering wheel volume control.

GREAT CAR

THE BAD: no classic volume control knob; ugly '90s style dashboard back light control stick that doesn't work during the day anyway; climate options slow response up to few seconds; you can't access on-screen controls (audio, climate, etc) once you are on driving Reserve or have right turn signal on (this should be available to override); terrible mirrors - feels like you are drunk when you look at them - pick interior's reflections easily which adds extra distractions, curved left edge on drivers mirror adds more confusion than help; plays mp3 from USB flash drive but only if USB port between seats is used, from one give you error message about music files being invalid format; no control over the way mp3 folders are listed (looks like they are listed by date created rather than alphabetically), also 'random in folder' function doesn't work correctly (occasionally jumps to other folders too - very annoying); no option to create playlist or fav list; interface not exactly intuitive, no theme preview etc.; mirror and rear cameras quality not good as expected (early '00s quality); super ugly and oversized passenger airbag status light; not much space under the radio/display console; plenty of space between; transmissions shifts weird when try to accelerate quickly; some weird bumps on the floor (driver and passenger, looks like something, but designed that way) THE GOOD: very quiet comparing to previous editions; nice seats; sticks to the road pretty good; nice rims; remote engine start option; occasionally feels like you drive hybrid; good overall, probably best buy for such budget

This Civic is lit

Engine performance is awesome but one problem I have seen so far is the rear center light cover kept falling off. I was told that there is a recall and a new adhesive is being developed to correct the issue, otherwise overall it's great for single guys and gals.

It's cosmic!

this one is a keeper! I don't intend to give this one up or let my kids drive it. I can see myself loving it until one of us dies. I named it Myles, as I feel as though I have a personal relationship with "him".

Driving is fun again!

My new Civic is simply a pleasure to drive - ample room, tight handling, smooth ride and insane 45 MPG. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar no other car can match the combination of reliability, comfort, economy and fun.

Love it!!!
