I was deciding between a Land Rover LR4, Toyota Land Cruiser or Sequoia, Mercedes GL series, Volvo XC90 and BMW X5. So, a wide range of choices. I test drove them all except the Mercedes. I have owned 2 Mercedes vehicles before, and I know what I am getting. I really couldn't get past the looks of the Mercedes. I hate, I mean HATE the minivan-ification of most SUVs. I owned a Honda Pilot when they first came out and they now look like an ugly sister to the Odyssey. My SUV of choice since 2005 has been a 2005 and a 2010 XC90, both top of the line decked out when purchased. Here is why I did not buy the other models and chose the Trailblazer. LAND ROVER: LR4, their sales people are freaks and they are super paranoid about selling to someone who will export to China. They made me sitter for 45 minutes while they googles by house and e-mail address. Then, they had so many in stock, but only offered MSRP, unlike dealerships a bit further away with half their inventory. They also lowballed my on my trade-in. No thank you. Car itself was cute, but even more of a gas guzzler than the Tahoe. Controls were okay, technology was not intuitive or very thoughtful. TOYOTA SEQUIOA: I loved the cargo space, but that was about it. Cheap controls and interior, the engine is super loud when accelerating fast. The Land Cruiser 3rd row seats doesn't even fold!!! I need cargo space. BMW SUV love that it comes in diesel, but try to find one, and the cargo space SUCKS! Finally, the Volvo. My local dealership's service department has gone way downhill fast, but mostly I drove the new XC90 and HATED IT!!! I was very surprised because I was this close to ordering one sight unseen like I had my other two Volvos. The interior contains no remnants of the Volvo button system. It is all digital and not intuitive at all. They few buttons that do remain are super cheap looking, I mean very ugly. Even the new remote key is cheap and ugly looking. My one I traded in was the last year it had a V8, and the acceleration was mediocre. I was very disappointed. The Tahoe plusses: GREAT INTERFACE!!!! I don't think you need to be tech savvy to get it, but there are two modes in my LTZ and you just need to choose one or the other. There are still enough knobs and buttons so you don't feel like you are a slave to the touchscreen. The bells and whistles are wonderful. The interface can connect with your iPhone and you can see and hear and send (verbal) messages, etc. The 2016 seats are truly COOLING (unlike the BMW). I think the display and controls are really well laid out and look durable and classy. I needed a vehicle with AWD/4WD and this has it. The cargo space is good but it is a bit high, and I am short. I LOVE the second row captains chairs that have hated seats!!! And, it doesn't look like a freaking minivan!!! I was surprised that they XC90 won the awards that it has, it really sucks. I was also supposed at the Tahoe's bad review. There is no accounting for taste. I suggest you test drive and price them out according to your own must haves. I LOVE my Tahoe.

Problems that GM wont fix.

I have had a rough idle since about 8,000 miles. I have had it worked on at the dealership and they added shims to the motor mounts. That didn't change anything. I seemed like it might even be worse after they shimmed the motor mounts. They say there's nothing else wrong or it would show up on the computer. After months of no answers from the dealer I searched online and found that it is a common problem with GM SUV's. The bottom line is that GM says there's nothing wrong and it runs fine. When you spend over $50,000 for a vehicle you don't want something that idles rough. I've had passengers that commented on the rough idle because they thought something was wrong. Everybody thinks something is wrong except GM. I also had to have all of the window appliques replaced and now there is a recall on the air bags. One other issue is that you cannot recycle cabin air unless you are using AC. Any other setting will pull outside air which is gross when you are stuck in traffic and there is a lot of exhaust. It's like having the windows down. Other than those issues it's a pretty nice vehicle.

This Tahoe is not well built at all. It had problems from day one when purchased may 2016. It came from the factory with the doors the the out side not even at all and the dealership we bought it from could not figure out how to fix it. Also there was defected trim peices and the leather seats had spots in it as well as the rear door plastic pannel. I had the lt z71 package with texas edition package. Also it had A/C problems when it was above 90 f out the compressor would cut off and a low pitch rumble sound when it went to v4 mode. Two Chevy dealerships could not figure out how to fix the probems and GM did not have a fix and the customer service department does not care either. It took them over a month to contact me back after a case number was set and none of the issues ever got fixed with the vehicle. After owning it for 4 months with 6500 miles on it and the chevy delaerships and GM not caring to fix the problem or buy back the vehicle I decided it was best that I take a loss on it instead of it being in the shop all the time and dealing with dealerships and GM customer service that does not care at all. I traded it for a Toyota product and have been very happy with it so far. I have owned a 2001 4wd LS and 2012 4wd LTZ tahoe but this one was the worst. I can see why the 2015 and newer models were on the top 20 unreliable vehicles this year. The older tahoes that I had were much better build. I would not recommend this vehicle at all until GM decided to spend the time and Produce the vehicle right. Also I lost over 20% of the value when I traded it in as well cause it is marked up to much and it even cost more that a Lincoln navigator.

My wife wanted to upgrade to a full size SUV from a Honda Pilot. We did some research and test driving, and she concluded that the Tahoe was the one. She loved the look, and like the amenities. The problems started on the test drive, the radio kept freezing up and acting weird. The dealer was made aware of the issue and we were told we needed to use a factory iphone cable and the problem should be resolved. We swapped our iphone cable for a brand new factory cable, and for the next day the problem went away. We purchased the truck the following day. After the purchase on the drive home, the problem returned. We called the dealer, and they said, well it needs a software update, it's a known issue. So in to the dealership to a software update. Software flashed, tested, they say you are good to go. A few days later, the problem returns, we contact the dealer, now the story changed. They knew almost instantly it was a human interface controller board and the part was back ordered from Chevrolet for an unknown amount of time. They kept the vehicle for the week to fix a few other issues and then we received it back knowing the problem was there, but the part was ordered, and the regional chevrolet rep was in the mix to try and expedite this service request. At this point we are fairly upset with the whole situation. Brand new car, and not once has it been right. Over the next 2 months, roughly 10 electrical gremlins have reared their ugly head in this truck. Here are a few: headlights randomly switch to high beams, pedals won't adjust, front and rear parking sensors randomly think we are going to hit something even when nothing is around, front camera errors constantly, hvac control back lighting failures, memory seats haven't worked since day one, all of which has been communicated to my dealership and to chevrolet directly, we basically were going to wait for this inteface controller part to come in and try to tackle everything at that time, thinking that the part should fix most of the issues. Then after 2 months of dealing with all these problems, finally a glimpse of hope... I received a call from my dealer that the controller board arrived from chevy. Hooray for now!!! The dealer was nice enough to pickup my truck at my work, and drop me off another Tahoe as a loaner until mine was fixed. I received a call that night, everything was fixed, they will keep it one additional day for testing, then they will drop it off for me at work. I got scared that next morning when the loaner tahoe had the same radio problem that my tahoe has... I was assured by my dealer that everything is fixed, and that between the controller and software updates everything is 100%! On my drive home the parking sensors went crazy on me. This was 10 miles down the road after being told it's all fixed. The radio seemed ok at least, so we decided to give it a few more days before it goes back in. Well the next morning, the radio went crazy again. We sent video to the dealer showing the problem, and now we are apparently waiting to see what Chevy and the dealer want to do. So here we are, MSRP of $64k, and the truck has multiple major systems failing, all electrical. My recommendation is to wait until the bugs are out of this vehicle!!!!! I know multiple people with 2015 and 2016 Tahoes, Yukons, and Escalades, all of them have had major electrical issues.

Feels like home.

Thought I would try a smaller SUV for more economic efficiency, so I traded in my 2009 Suburban (at 186,000 miles) a year ago for a Toyota 4-Runner, Limited Edition. While it was a nice vehicle, it never got over 18 mph. My suburban routinely got 20+ mpg hwy. Also, the 4-Runner didn't have near the "creature comforts" tht my new Tahoe has. Chevrolet tech gadgets, comfort, and control panel is far superior to the 4-Runner. My new 2016 Tahoe LT feels like home!

Overall A Great Vehicle, But Needs Improvement

Overall, we have been impressed with our 2016 Tahoe. We are especially impressed with the design of the interior and the technology packaging. The infotainment is very easy to use and is very responsive. Although we would rate this vehicle at 5 out of 5 stars, we have had some interior quality and safety tech issues. Within the first month of owning our Tahoe, the lane keeping assist and forward collision alert simply quit working. We took it in to our dealership where they kept out Tahoe for at least 2 weeks and were very thorough with the investigation and solution to the problem. Our interior quality problem is very minor, but we have never had this problem with any Ford, Toyota, or Mazda we have owned. The problem is the plastic pieces in the bottom of the door pulls keep popping out and is very annoying. We have had them replaced to try to solve the issue of them fitting, but they keep popping out. As far as performance and road manners, the Tahoe seems to be stable and has ample power. Our only complaint about the powertrain is the transmission, which is very quick to upshift when accelerating. The main issue is when we want to take off with a certain amount of throttle, then add more throttle, which causes the transmission to seemingly hesitate and jerk into the next gear when the transmission should hold the previous gear longer. Overall, the 2016 Tahoe is a practical and useful full size SUV, but GM needs to make powertrain and interior quality improvements. An 8 speed transmission may be the solution to the transmission issue over the current 6 speed.

Disappointed:(

I traded in a 2012 Tahoe with 115k miles which I loved. Expectations were high with new 2016 Tahoe but as with our Presidential candidates I'm feeling a little uninspired!! Electronics and command response is lethargic. There is a annoying delay in response with all commands even the door locks take longer than they should. Changing radio channels with steering wheels controls has a much longer delay than the 2012 Tahoe. The key remote needs to be simplified, the rear window and rear door buttons look too similar which is confusing to operate. I want to open rear door and the darn window pops open " Just put W for window and D for door!!" Not some cute symbols that look alike; if people can't read they shouldn't be driving! Also the computer has the motor reving up to unreasonable rpms before shifting. I thought they sold me a 6cyl by accident!! If you mildly accelerate the thing revs up like an Indy car! Its embarrassing leaving a stop light, everyone under 30 thinks I'm trying to drag race them!! Maybe my standards have been elevated owning a BMW but come on chevy your trending backwards!:-(

This is a nice SUV

Get multiple bids and make the dealers fight for your business. Don't settle for the first price they throw out.

I have had three Tahoe trucks. This years Tahoe is the best yet. I got 23 gallons on a 14 hour trip. Great look inside. The only thing I wish this truck had was the push button start on standard models. It come with the upgraded package.

Do not buy this car! The infotainment system, if you could call it that, is the absolute worst on the market. Not only does bluetooth prevent me from receiving texts, it also takes over my phone preventing its use. Further, the my link system looks great. Thats about it! It is almost completely inoperable while driving! Your better off buying a garmin, its cheaper and it actually works. You could use on star, but that will run you $400.00 per year! Further, in a even greater insult, when starting the car the system must warn me not to take my eyes off the road. No kidding!! What am I three years old? Further, you have to click a check symbol to acknowledge this little gem of information! This is liberalism at its worst. Save your money if you buy this car. Get video displays, etc, placed after market so that they may actually work. Further, do not expect any help from Chevy. They are the most unhelpful group of people in the customer service industry I have ever encountered. Bottom line, you are wasting your money on this car.

Before buying this SUV you should really come to grips that you are not purchasing a sports car or sports type SUV. With that being said, I have purchased 11 vehicles over the years and I am completely satisfied with my purchase of the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe LS. The only difference between the base LS and the top of the line models is basically leather and a few extra gimmicks such as heads-up display. If you can live without the extras, the LS is the way to go for price point. Superior comfort and the cabin is surprisingly quiet. I'm 6'4" and have plenty leg room in the front and rear seat of my Tahoe. If you're in the market for a nice large SUV with plenty of room and towing capacity, I recommend looking at all trim levels of the Tahoe before jumping at the LTZ or LT because the LS might be able to satisfy what you need and save you over $20,000.00.

the safety assist features take time to get used to. The AC fan noise even at the lowest level is loud. I know that in prior vehicles if we have the AC at the lowest fan setting you will not be able to hear it going.

We traded for our Tahoe LTZ after owning a 2012 GMC Yukon XL wanting a more nimble size and updated technology. The Tahoe has really met and exceeded our expectations. It is a very luxurious vehicle and is loaded with technology that exceeds any large SUV from Ford or Lincoln. In fact is has the luxury and technology of most expensive luxury cars. The Tahoe is extremely quiet inside and the front and second row seats are quite comfortable. For four people, the Tahoe is a perfect touring vehicle, comfortable, capable and usable. The third row seating is useless however. Not only is there no room between the second row and third row seats, but the floor is also about 4-5 inches below the seat cushion. I question why GM did not utilize an independent rear suspension system like the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator to alleviate this problem. Also by building the foldable third row seat on top of the solid rear axle, they also lifted the floor of the cargo area in the back of the Tahoe to a ridiculous height to where it is difficult to lift luggage in and out. It also limits the amount of volume you actually have for luggage and cargo. Ford and Lincoln have been building their SUV's with independent rear suspensions for years and the result is lots of usable space with an actual comfortable third row seat. That is the biggest complaint we have with the Tahoe. But for driving, comfort for four and all the luxury they have, it is a hard SUV to beat. We test drove Expeditions and Navigators right along with the Tahoe and we chose the Tahoe. It drove and handled better and was much quieter on the inside. Also the unique ability to have OnStar and Wifi only cinched the deal for us. A close to perfect SUV but limited by design.

OMG! What were they thinking!

Where do I begin!! I traded my Sequoia in for the 2016 fully loaded, every option available, Tahoe LTZ. After having it for a couple of days, I had a chance to really see the "non-thought" that went into this vehicle. This really is not a 7 passenger vehicle. I can honestly say it is a 4 vehicle passenger with very little leg room for whoever is sitting in the 2nd row. The outside of the vehicle is awesome. It's the inside that has it's faults! I have 5 kids that need to get in and out of this vehicle. (Mostly 4 of them ride with me when they need to. I have 6 kids total and thank goodness when I had them all riding with me I had the Sequoia. Tons of room and all seats were adjustable, including the third row in the Sequoia!) The seats in the Tahoe are stationary and DO NOT MOVE forward or backward to allow for ANY legroom whatsoever or even to allow passengers to get in and out of the car easily. My kids hate getting in and out of the vehicle because it is so ridiculous and they end up tripping inside the car getting to the back seat. The 2nd row seating (I have bucket seats) has NO legroom at all. The bucket seats do not adjust to sit up completely straight, so there is a lean to the seat and if you rest your back on the seat it feels like you are laying down a little bit. There is just a few inches of leg room behind the driver's seat and the front passenger seat. And if the driver adjusts his seat all the way back, well, forget it, you're down to just a couple inches of room with your knees hitting the back of the driver's seat. Not to mention, whoever gets in the second row seats has to squeeze in to begin with. NO ROOM AT ALL for passengers behind the driver and front passenger. The third row seat is pretty useless unless you have extremely small kids. It is very uncomfortable as well. The floor where the backseat is, has a platform, so you feel like your knees are up to your chin when sitting back there. If this was just a married couple with no kids, this car is perfect! You must have the headrests up when sitting in the 3rd row as well. If the headrests are up and the dvd screen is down, there is NO visibility in the rear hatch window. If the kids get out of the car and leave the headrests up, you have the blind spots in the back window, which is a pain for the driver. Also, the headrests are a little difficult to get down. Definitely would be for little kids. The lighting in this car is not very good. It is ok, very shadowy kind of lighting, but my main complaint is that there is no light in the trunk area. It is almost hard to believe Chevy did not think to put a light in the trunk. Even my sister's GMC Acadia (which cost half of the Tahoe) has a trunk light when the hatch is opened. (The back seats on the GMC are adjustable, too) The Tahoe is so dark at night in the trunk, you cannot see anything. Literally. This has been a real problem, especially coming home and I have a bunch of groceries in the back. There is not a lot of storage places, etc. in this vehicle. The storage areas in the doors are very thin and hard to get things out of if you put something in them. Not a lot of convenient storage, period. Could use more cup holders, too. If you are taking a vacation and do not have the third row seat folded down, there is room for just a couple small suitcases. My Tahoe has been to the dealership several times now regarding the radio, bluetooth and lane departure features. It would take way too long to describe the problems, but the dealership is fixing them with no questions asked and hopefully soon it will once and for all be fixed. Mainly did this review to give you a feel for the interior of the vehicle, especially if you have kids. This is a great looking vehicle and would be great for when the kids are grown up and not riding with me anymore, but until then, there are other SUV's that would have been more comfortable and more convenient than the Tahoe!!

I have to admit GM did a good job with creating this 16 Tahoe, I originally had it is cousin the 2010 Yukon but got rid of it and I love it but figured it was time for a change; so I bought 2016 Tahoe LS; the other models were out of my budget. Overall, I am happy with the 16 Tahoe. I would have bought the 15 Tahoe but for a some reason General Motor thought it was a good idea to have a cell phone like screen in the LS models and not a screen that we can actually see plus the fact that in order to really utilize a navigation app (which I may add did not come with) had to plug your phone into the cigarette lighter to project the navigation tool you want to use on this IPhone like screen. By far, in my opinion was FUBAR design. The 2016 Model however has a bigger screen and the navigation system however the navigation system is offered through ONSTAR which in a way is crazy because it forces you to really have a contract with ONSTAR; so in discovering this, I asked the question after the fact, what if you don't want to afford ONSTAR, there (dealership) said you can can plug it into a USB defice and project the visual on the BIGGER screen the comes with the LS models. Overall, that is the only flaw that I have with the 2016 models; however I did give it a passing thought about getting the LT and LTZ models but after really thinking about it and test driving the other two, there was not really a whole lot of differences, except for leather seats, a couple extra speakers and a tow package.

First American car I've owned in 20 years and after 3 months, I couldn't be happier. Loved my Sequoia, but the "new" version is ugly and WAY outdated already with a terrible interior. The Tahoe feel solid, drives quiet and smooth, and has great tech, looks great inside and out. Pro's: Quality, ergonomic controls, great tech/options for the price, super comfortable, looks great! Con's: Fair MPG, I'm getting about 16 with mostly city driving. Can't get a grey leather interior (the best) with the LTZ model. Can't set temperature to hot on heater when remote starting (isn't that the point?!). Back cargo area is OK, but would be fantastic if floor wasn't raised up 5 inches.
