Poor Outward Visibility with small mirrors and horrible backing up camera. Worst cargo space in this category of cars.

dissappointed

when this car runs its awesome, let me say again when it runs this is the first new car i've ever purchased and within the first year i was having problems. Almost every 6 to 8 months something was breaking or failing on this car I've owned it 5 years and that NEVER changed i was trying to keep it cause its payed off but I'm over it. In all fairness i live in las vegas and I went to an outside mechanic not the dealer for once and he said its cause a lot of their parts are plastic and don't do well in our heat so maybe just you desert inhabitants go in a different direction.

WV Tiguan great little SUV

Overall this is a great SUV when compared to the competition. The performance of the 200hp engine is strong, turbo spools up well and it has some great acceleration, only downside is the fuel economy is a couple of miles less on the highway than some of the other small SUVs. Goes good in the snow, very reliable I have put over 40K on mine with no issues, good room in the engine bay for maintenance.

Not sure why other review companies have given mixed bag of average scores...this SUV is the bomb! The acceleration, the comfort, steering, drive dynamics are all top shelf. If someone is seeking an urban cross over sized SUV, this is the one!!! I had a Forrester that was great, and plasticy. The solid driver confidence inducing ride is a joy. Very pleased with our decision.

Traded a Sportwagon TDI that I've had for 3 1/2 years due to poor accessibility and road noise, loved the mileage though. This vehicle achieved both with high marks. My trade offs were loss of fuel mileage (46 mpg) but achieved a basket full of other options and positive attributes that I think more than made up for the loss. The vehicle drives better than my sportwagon both in ride and cornering which was a surprise in the latter. The 4Motion is just flat out amazing compared to my two other current 4X4 vehicles, both Fords. The handling and breaking on snow and ice is far superior to both, F250 and Explorer. The back seating area is larger then the sportwagon but the overall cargo space is less. This was not important to as we have our rear seats down most of the time for our pooches, both large dogs.

Very Dissapointed

I had a X5 BMW for 10 years, EXCELLENT car, no problems. Decided to replace it with Tiguan 2014 after reading great reviews. I've had it for 2.5 years and been having problems with various issues/malfunctions. My car is kept in the garage and during the last cold winter, the windshield 'exploded' while the car was in the garage. The dealership said it's from cold, my son has a Mazda SUV, kept outside and his windshield didn't get shattered. Had issues with the tires, one and soon after another one blew up. There was no wholes in it, seems like a poor quality of tires. Yesterday, the airbags malfunction happened while I was making a turn. I heard a slight crack in the steering wheel and the he airbag cover on the wheel popped up. It's good that I was nearby as driving with the popped up airbag cover and no horn is not safe. A good car but with a lot of malfunctions, which I attribute to inferior quality than other German cars.

Nice SUV but mileage is really poor

Yes we have the AWD, and really wish VW had an option to switch in and OUT of 4WD. Gas mileage is the poorest I have seen in a small SUV and one of the few that doesn't have electric seats. For the money it should. Would not buy another one.

Upscale features for a compact SUV

I have owned my 2015 Tiguan for about 1 month and find it quiet, smooth and nimble. My biggest complaint is the seriously under powered stereo system on the SE with Appearance model. There is an upgrade to the stereo system but only for the SEL and R line option packages. The instrument panel is also very dated. The gauges and instruments look just like the 2010 Jetta! In a world where electronics technology is constantly evolving and getting better, the stereo system and instrument panel are antiquated and need the immediate attention of the VW engineers.

Tiguan is handsome European crossover SUV. Pretty fast with a 200 horsepower strong engine, great visibility, amazing suspension I ever see. Tiguan go through any bumps smooth! Fun to drive and nice precisely handling. The smooth ride gets offset by a somewhat noisy engine when accelerating hard.

base model but still upscale

I am leasing a '15 S 4Motion; the only options are heated seats, Monster Mats and wheel locks. Even though it's the "old" 2.0 Turbo engine, there's plenty of kick and I love playing with the manual shift feature of the 6-speed automatic. I'm a fan of German cars in general and have owned at least 10 VWs, so am a bit biased too, but I do feel a bit special on the road in the company of so many ubiquitous CRVs, RAV-4s, Equinoxes, etc. The only other crossover I even considered was the Mazda CX-5, which is neat but which can't match the Tiguan's performance. Plus there are great deals to be had now. It's comfortable and unusual in a sea of sameness.

Just got my 2015 Sel 4Mo, First off I got a great deal, money interest rate, great time to buy. We looked at some new ones on the market and so old. We just could not find anything that had the handling, the simplicity of controls and the bluetooth system. We looked at some that were a total distraction when it came to using the Nav etc. Now the Nav system in the VW has not been updated and will soon however if you are not an overly techy person and want a system that works, has one of the best sound systems (fender) excellent pick-up, comfort, Car-Net instant connect for help, directions Etc. GET THIS CAR! The CarNet is excellent. You can set it so you will know if someone exceeds MPH.

Have a car for a week (after driving used Lexus RX3303 for 6 years) and have first disappointments I test drive SE model but bought SEL with more options and to my surpirise has discovered that -- as fas as VW think power seat is one that out of 4 adjustments (up/down, lumbar, fwd/back and recline) it is enough to have only ONE powered and three manual. Only recline function is power - be aware. -- in a fully loaded car in 2015 VW did NOT make lights off automatic! This is such a surpise (and annoyance) to remember again to switch off lights when you leaving the car.
