I commute 42 miles to work with a mix of traffic , interstate, four lane w/stop lights and two lane roads . Many people shy away from manual transmission , that's what makes this car come to life! I do a lot of driving in the NC mountains for my job, and this car responds beautifully. I got the most basic model possible as they shared most of the same features the more expensive models do engine/transmission. This car zips up and around curvy mountains with relative ease. The handling is very good . The brakes could be a little better. The quality of materials used in the car could be better . My bumper was tapped by another car, as we were both backing up at a VERY slow speed ( it was like slow motion ).Put a nice size softball size dent in my bumper and caused the trunk to separate from the bumper . No estimate yet to be done in the next week. I enjoy driving my car , lots of fun with the manual transmission

Pros: - great gas mileage (I'm getting 35MPG with mostly highway miles) - entertainment console is easy to use even while in motion - small, sporty family car Cons: - way too small for anyone 6' or taller (I fit but commonly have to bend my legs and constantly be moving or my legs go numb, and a hard time getting in/out of the car) - also way too small for a family size larger than 2 (with my infant in her rear facing carseat behind the passenger seat my wife cannot fit due to height, she still has to sit behind the drivers seat to have any room) - this car's steering/handling is worst of any car I have ever owned (driving at highway speeds the car floats, it drives in a straight line but the body/suspension/frame are constantly pulling to the left or right. This motion causes me to constantly have to pull the car one way or the other. I have had to deal with 3-4 service appointments where I was told that "this was the issue" or "that was the issue". First time they told me the front tires had too much of a toe so they completed a four wheel alignment. Didn't fix the issue. Brought it in again and they replaced the rear axle beam. No fix. This last time, they told me nothing was wrong and that is "just how the Corolla handles.") - during snow, rain, or wind you might as well leave the car in the garage and walk to work (with any sort of wind, at all, the car is pushed around as if I was driving a skateboard, snow or rain is dangerous in this car) Overall: I'm looking for a new car, ASAP. I may even try to lemon this thing.

My son insisted I get a Toyota. Within two weeks after getting my 2015 Toyota corolla, my lower body began to experience discomfort and pain. After a month of driving my car I visited my chiropractor and explained to him that since I purchased my car (never told him what I purchased) I have been having hip, knee and ankle/foot issues. He asked me "did you buy a Toyota? My eyes got big because I knew this was the problem I just did not know what was causing the problem exactly. He said the seats do not have the support the body need to function well. Getting out of my car feels like I am an 80 year old woman. I am still having issues and what is most interesting, my son also purchased a 2015 Toyota as I did and is having the same issues. This is the biggest regret when purchasing a car. I like to say I love my car but I do not. It is a pretty car no doubt. By the way, we are not the only ones having these issues and now that you know my experience you will probably realize that the pain and discomfort you are feeling came from driving your Toyota...at least a corolla! Yes, I am looking into trading this virus in. Toyota compromised comfort for looks.

Fast for its class, not comfortable

Ride is pretty rough. Fuel mileage definitely not as advertised. If you're tall, you'll hit your head almost every time you get in. Comfortable once inside, plenty of head room, but getting out will be a challenge if you're not agile.

I traded in my 2003 Subaru Outback for a 2015 Toyota Corolla. I initially wanted another Subaru, but had to watch my budget. This is a cute little car - sleek and sporty looking. I test drove it once during the day for a short ride. I couldn't pass up the value so I bought it that day. After driving it for two weeks and adjusting the seat and steering wheel in every way possible, I couldn't prevent my back from hurting. When I called the dealer to complain, they said the seats are made more rigid now for safety to prevent whiplash. Then he offered to install lumbar support for about $400!!! That should be standard, especially if they know the seats are uncomfortable. I bought a lumbar pillow but it's bulky and uncomfortable. Also, the floor is raised where your left foot goes so it feels cramped. I also agree with others about the line of sight for the headlights. High beams work good but you can't drive around with those on.

The new corollas are slow and its mainly because the CVT transmission. The engine and overall design of the car would be awesome with a real transmission in it but that rubber band CVT doesn't help it out at all. Slow acceleration, bad reliability and noisy. The new corolla makes more noise then it does power, my 2007 model is faster. The DOHC paired with just the four speed auto transmission in my old corolla is faster then any of the new CVT corollas. Glad I have a older model.

I have 2011 S and while I like that one this one is way better! This car is smooth and gets unreal mpg! I got 42 mpg on a trip! Can't speak highly enough of it after 15000 miles!

Headlights are a disaster

I always thought that the Corolla was the best for reliability. It probably still is. Safety, on the other hand is now questionable. Problem is, where I live we have hills and a lot of deer. Who ever designed the headlights for this car did NOT do their homework. On low beam, which is led, the headlight lens has a sort of a black plastic "eyelid" over the top of the lens, so that when you go down a hill, the lens cuts off your sight lines to only about 50 feet ahead. It is so disconcerting that beyond that 50 feet, it is absolute blackness. It is like a solid black curtain that drops down. There is no way to see if anyone or anything is approaching from the ditch onto the highway. You absolutely have no idea what's ahead, it's like driving blindly. When you put the headlights on bright, a halogen lens will kick in and you will have a little better sight line which gradually fade away. If I had test driven this car at night, there is absolutely no way that I would have ever bought this car, and the previous Corolla that we had was one of our favorites, that along with the Camry that we had. These headlights should be recalled. They are dangerous.

This is my second Corolla that I've owned, my first was a 2011 LE Corolla. There are many improvements over the last generation car, but none bigger than the new CVT transmission they switched to. CVT transmissions aremt known for their power or insane amount of performance, but it has the right amount of kick to get you where you're going. For a small 4-cylinder with no added turbo, this car is quick and zippy; but don't expect track performance of any kind. My last gen Corolla had a glitch with its transmission that would cause it to hesitate around 45-55 mph; luckily the new transmission gives no such problems and runs like a dream. The style of the car has also been revamped in this new generation, and it has given the car a tad more muscle while also keeping its femininity as well. The interior is also improved in this generation, with the material being more stain resistant and sturdy. The new gen also has an increased wheel base from front to back giving back seat drivers a little more leg room to work with. Even the tallest of guests will find comfort in the back seat, and for its size; there is none better. The steering is more tight than in previous generations and the car does have improved handling and grip. The addition of automatic climate control is very nice, but most cars at this price range offer dual climate control, and this car does not. The Bluetooth works the best it ever has and Toyota has improved their sound systems that come with their base models. Overall, the new Corolla is better than its predecessor; but it can still be improved. You won't find a more reliable car at this price, nor will you get the support Toyota has behind this vehicle. It's definitely a car you can be proud to own.

inspect windshield before buying

I am very saddened by the experience I've had with Toyota over the purchase of this vehicle. Overall this really is a good little car, gets the job done, decent pickup for the size, smooth enough ride although there is significant road noise compared to other vehicles I've driven, and good feel to it while driving. HOWEVER, there seems to be an issue with the windshields that Toyota is getting from its vendor. My original windshield had a very weird magnifying effect with random waves running through it that would distort the view of cars, the road, and other objects as you drove it. I took it to the dealer who agreed with me and replaced it, only to find the second one had the same problem. The third windshield is much better but still have two waves running through the driver's viewing range from different angles creating a significant distraction, and if you drive the car long enough, tension headaches. It seems Toyota is sick of dealing with this issue and is, what appears to be, refusing to fix the third defective windshield. I was given a loaner while my car has been in the shop for 1.5 months back and forth over this issue and the loaner appears to be fine. There is a great deal of inconsistency in the quality of the windshields being put on the 2015 Corollas, and recently I heard this is also true for the 2016s. Unfortunately I am now stuck with a car that has a defective windshields with waves in it, although it's better than the original windshield, and will have to replace it through Safelite on my own dime. This is a major fail, Toyota. Never again. I hope this review helps others to avoid the same situation. Not sure if this constitutes a significant impairment to the value of the vehicle which would be covered under lemon law in most states.

If you plan on buying this car please take a test drive at night without high beams on and go downhill. Half of the windshield is completely dark and sometimes the whole windshield. Very concerning and Toyota hasn't done anything yet and won't test drive the car at night to be shown what is happening. Good looking out for your customers Toyota.

Second Corolla

I bought my first Corolla in 2009 and was disappointed in the performance and stability when the weather was wet and windy. I traded it a year later for a different brand. Fast forward 5 years and I picked up a 2015 Corolla in May. The only thing I dislike about the car is the CVT transmission. I've had other cars with CVT's before; I understand how they work and why they're engineered that way. It's to maximize efficiency. I've learned it's more effective to strategically plan getting on a freeway instead of being able to jump on the gas and having the car take off. The fit and finish of my car is great. I got the Brown Sugar metallic with Ivory interior. The paint doesn't pop as much as I'd like it to, but that's probably because the dealership didn't have time to properly detail it before delivery. I arrived in the late afternoon and left (in my new car) after the dealership closed. Handling is typical economy car...light steering, not very precise but adequate. It's comfortable. I traded in a Lexus IS250 for my Corolla, and the Corolla is more comfortable. I have yet to see how it handles in wet weather, but it's larger and heavier than my 2009 so I expect it to be better. Overall, a solid car. I anticipate hanging on to it for many years. **Update** I've had the car for almost a year, and I still love it. Average MPG is rock solid at 34 combined city/highway. I've driven it in the rain and in generally bad weather and I'm very comfortable with how it handles. I had the opportunity to rent a Camry recently (someone hit my Corolla) and I like the Corolla more. Toyota nailed it...again.

Good car with looks and features, noisy cabin

Bought a 2015 Corolla LE Plus. Love the looks vs the Camry's or the Corolla S Plus. The S plus has a bigger grille and darker rims which I did not like vs the smaller grille and shinier rims on the LE Plus model. I liked the steering on low speed with this car, but the thing I really disliked was hi-way driving. It is too sensitive in the steering at that speed, so it is kinda like a struggle to keep the car straight and it doesn't help that the car is more prone to wind blowing, so that makes the struggle even harder (especially near trucks). Acceleration is adequate. The ride is actually a little firm (good thing I didn't get the S Plus!) But the road noise can get harsh in freeway driving. I love listening to music and I upgraded my sound system by adding a subwoofer to the factory unit. Sounds much better, but I still have to crank up the volume because the road noise is too loud. Sometimes, it makes me have a slight regret that I didn't get the camry instead. This is what I like about the Corolla though... Good price, good looks, good gas mileage (35 avg), reliable so far, Michelin tires, led headlights, lots of interior space, and I really liked the color combo of the White exterior + Ivory/black interior. Disliked road noise, sensitive steering (harder to keep car going straight), average acceleration (engine noise too). Overall, its a great car if you don't mind my dislikes. For me, its a good buy mainly due to pricing because I couldn't afford the camry since it would be stretching my money too much (kinda poor but wanted new reliable car). Always have a slight regret due to knowing that the Camry is quieter and its acceleration is smoother. At $3000 more, it was hard to swallow the difference, that's how I ended up with the Corolla.

I needed a replacement for the 2013 prius c I had been leasing and when Toyota sent me an offer to end my lease early for another Toyota vehicle I decided it wouldn't hurt to just look. I had been doing research on the new Corolla as it comes with features my Prius C didn't have - fog lights, rear camera and heated mirrors - all important here in New England. Took an LE Plus for a test and was pleasantly surprised at the acceleration and handling. While it might not be a Mazda 3, having now put almost 4k miles on it including a 1500 mile trip mostly highway, I can't complain about my average of 44mpg combined. I'm not a lead foot but getting that kind of highway mileage when having to keep up with the flow of traffic I consider to be pretty good considering my Prius c only got 46-48 highway and my wife's full size prius gets about 53. It's not unusual to be able to get 50 on our country roads and state highways. For a larger person the comfort is good and there is plenty of interior room - even the back seats are comfortable. In what I was looking for regarding performance, reliability, comfort and trunk space with the added benefit of Toyota's always spectacular gas mileage I have no complaints. While it isn't the sporty car some want, has perhaps less room than for others and not all the fancy techno toys the rest may want - instead of excelling in any or all categories rather it performs well in most. An above average car that gives reliable and comfortable transportation at a reasonable price with exceptional mileage thrown in as a bonus. Maybe not the car for those with the most discriminating tastes - but for the rest of us just perhaps exactly what we were looking for - and that's how and why Toyota designed the Corolla the way they have.

I LOVE MY LITTLE 4 Cylinder does everything I need it to do. Great gas mileage. ACCELERATION Is excellent. Sold my SUV for great gas mileage. 38 in town. I love driving no negatives for me. For the price and quality great buy.

I rented this car and I am so surprised that so many people actually bought this car. I don't encourage speeding but, if you had to get out of a line or had to get somewhere sooner I would not recommend doing it in this car. Steering response is weak and miles per gallon is not good at all for this car. There are several cars in its class with better gas mileage. Acceleration is almost non existing and makes gas feel like water. Expected more from a 2015 sport model, I cant imagine what the base models feel like. You will find the same reliability elsewhere.

I bought this has a second vehicle for myself with the plan it would be passed onto my 11 year old when she turns 16. My main vehicle is a Toyota FJ Cruiser, but due to having to constantly drive the kids literally hundreds of miles a week for activities, I was putting too many miles on a vehicle I want to keep forever and one that cannot be replaced since they quit making them. Anyway, I shopped all around for vehicles in the Corolla's size category, but I just couldn't find one that matched Toyota's quality. I did own a 2008 Honda Civic Si for a short period, which looks very similar to this vehicle, but this Corolla is so much nicer and solid feeling than that Civic. I am very impressed with the ride, which is about as good as one can expect with the thinner tires on 17" wheels. The styling of this vehicle is very eye-catching, especially from the front. Acceleration is not going to win you any drag races, especially with the Continuously Variable Transmission, but after a short lag at first it will get up an go pretty good and I do not feel under powered on the interstate. Driving around town and doing a nice slow acceleration, you will not even feel a shift...it is so smooth! My favorite feature is the headlights. The S-Plus model came with LED lights for the low beam and they literally broadcast a intense wedge of light that totally wraps around the front of the vehicle. It almost looks like daylight! I need to get these for the FJ! I only have 450 miles on it thus far, but I am very happy with this purchase!

I recently traded in my Hyundai Tucson for a 2015 Corolla LE. The ride and features are far better. The Hyundai looks nice but in comparison to Toyota's they look and feel so cheap especially from the inside. The Corolla has lots of leg room in the front and back. The Corolla accelerates smoothly and maintains speed. On the highway, I have been getting over 40 mpg and when on cruise control its even higher. I love this car. The controls on the steering wheel are easy to use for changing radio stations and I really like the car screen that allows you to see exactly your mpg at the time. It handles curves really nice even at higher speeds. The ride is smoother and quiter than the Tucson . I know it's not a luxury car but it does feel like it. The quality is outstanding. I was looking for a safe and reliable car to get to and from school and something safe for my 6 year old and I. I really love it and I can't say that enough!

I purchased a new 2015 Toyota Corolla in June 2015. It is a pleasure to drive. I am 6'2" and I fit fine. The CVT takes some time to get accustomed to. I have had a Celica and two Tacomas. I had a Honda Prelude also. I considered Civic and test drove a similarly equipped one. I didn't like the Honda as much and the Corolla was $2000 or more less expensive. I recommend the 2015 Toyota Corolla. It's not a race car and it's not pretending to be one. It's fun to just take a drive or commute in. The one thing for taller drivers is the center armrest and left armrest are so low taller drivers like me have trouble getting the seat low enough to comfortably rest our arms. Yes, the seat moves up and down....about 2 or 3 inches. All said if the Honda had been cheaper I "might" have thought longer but probably would have made the same decision going with the Corolla. My last Toyota lasted 14 years and there was still nothing wrong with it. I expect this car will last me or future owners 15-25 years if maintained. Update: I have now been driving the 2015 Corolla for just over a year. I love it. The only bad thing that has happened is a rock hit my hood and chipped a small piece of paint off. I got a bottle of Toyota "Super White" touch-up paint. You have to make sure the code matches your specific paint. It's not easy to apply. I ended up using a toothpick and getting a little bit from the brush after shaking it up. I filled the chip and all is well. It has held up for about 10 months. It seems like it didn't take much to chip the paint, but maybe it hit just right. Mine is "Super White" and when washed and a little spray wax it looks just like new. The paint overall seems to have held up fine in the first year in -10F to 110F temps. I have never had any trouble starting it or with any other component of the car. My only real disappointment with the car is the lack of power, but I knew that after test driving it. It's got enough for 95% of needs. It's not made for racing and again.....does not pretend to be. It's got the power it was made to have and it get's on the freeway and passes any time I want it to do so. It has done everything I have asked of the car. Whether I'm going 25MPH or 85MPH it rides fine. Wind noise is noticeable but not excessive at high speed. You just turn the radio up 3 notches and it cures that. They built the Corolla well and it shows. During winter I had snow up to 12" deep. The Corolla did VERY well in the snow and ice. The traction control does it's job very well. I turned it off just to see what it would be like without.....I can't believe we got around safely without it. I recall the days of front wheels drive cars in the snow with no TRAC. It was possible to get around but traction control makes it much easier. All said the first 13 months of ownership was wonderful. Also, insurance is inexpensive for me. I have been driving for almost 30 years (20 years professionally) and have never been in an accident that was my fault, so that might have something to do with insurance prices but not much. Insurance is inexpensive for Corollas if you have the right color and have a good driving record.

MP3 Music playing system from CD and USB are totally crap in Toyota music system (Entune). it is required all MP3 Song files need to be copied to single folder. it is not moving to next folder or album if it has multiple folder. It is total disappointment to me to move from Corolla 2009 to Corolla 1015. don't buy without checking this functionality.

I bought the Corolla after looking for a car I know would last for years, that would look great, and have all the little features I wanted. It looks great inside and out and it's a lot of fun to drive. I honestly love the CVT engine--I try my best to get the most MPG I can get. I'm at 42.7 MPG on my current tank (I drive 80% highway) so I'm not sure where the other reviewer was coming from.

This is my third Corolla. All were bought new. The first, a 1990 that lasted about 200k. I have a 2006 that has nearly 160k, and runs super. The 2006 is my best drivingCorolla, after comparison. The 2006 tracks well. The 2015 doesn't. Is it because of thinner tires, or the wheel base? The 2006 body has a more solid feel. Thinner steel in the 2015? It could be just my impression. 2015 cabin and instrument panel blows 2006 away. Great improvement. I hate the CVT tranny. Engine over-revs. The 2006 takes off like a bullet. The 2015 is unresponsive. On a hill, the engine sounds like it's in neutral, over-revving. Blind spots over left shoulder, no camera to compensate. Rear-view mirror too small.

You would think by now car manufacturers would know how to build a car to fit a body. I'm a tad under 5' 11 inches. My head hits the ceiling and you can't see crap out of the windshield. You will need to cut a hole in the roof if you plan on being able to see a traffic light. This bit of engineering stupidity ruins all of Toyota's hard work build a great brand and car. I have had many Corollas and expected to love this car. Unbelievable Toyota! Hello Nissan

Note: I'm reviewing this car for what it is -- a compact sedan. I hadn't planned on buying a Toyota. I even told myself I wouldn't because of the experience my relative had with an 09 Corolla. However, in my frustrations with my year old Nissan, I went to a Toyota dealership just to look. Boy was I shocked. It seems to be built to last, but I suppose that's to be expected of a manufacturer with a track record of bulletproof reliability. The CVT is awesome, but more on that in a little bit. The sound system is nifty. It's gorgeous. I get a lot of complements on the looks of both the interior and exterior. I got it in Slate Grey Metallic. However, it has its cons.

I bought a new Toyota Corolla 2015 based upon the price, size, and miles per gallon. Toyota advertises 29 MPG in the city, 31 combined and 38 on the highway. I have yet to get better than 31 on the highway, and 26 in the city. I am highly disappointed with this. I took it into the dealer, and placed a complaint with Toyota. Since they found "nothing wrong with the car" they did nothing. Very, very disappointing.

Bought my 2015 Carolla, December 2015. I had not purchased a vehicle in 10 years. Was looking for something reliable, updated, fuel efficient, fun to drive and looked good. The Carolla has come a long way since its inception. The styling and design is 21st Century. It's comfortable, drives smooth and looks good. It has everything I wanted in a new car. Was also very pleased with the Dealership I went to and their staff, very helpful. Was able to get what I wanted for the price I wanted!

I cross shopped the Corolla, Ford Focus, Mazda3 and Honda Civic. With incentives, the Corolla was the best value in a fully loaded compact. This is my eighth Toyota or Lexus product and the previous seven have been bullet proof mechanically.

The good: The Corolla LE provides a great value. There are a ton of high-end features that make it comfortable and economical. The car rides smoothly and I have averaged 33 MPG in mostly city driving. Overall, a great ride so far. The "other": I find there are quite a few major blind spots. In addition, the steering wheel does not travel far enough forward. The armrest is either too small, or too low, or just a poor design because I can't get comfortable on it. Lastly, and most concerning, I find that the car wonders. My previous Jetta tracked straight as an arrow. This car will just wonder off without warning. I really don't care for that aspect of the driving character.

I've had this car for a couple months now and am pleased with what it is giving me. Great value in terms of design style and fuel efficiency + performance option in S model. This thing has a small engine so it will never feel truly sporty but I have an S model and when in Sport mode, the engine is trained to rev RPM high between gears when hitting the gas instead of holding down RPM as in economy mode (defaults to economy). So far I've yet to reset the gauge tracking fuel economy and over the first 2,200 miles, I have achieved a little over 29 MPG doing mainly city driving here in Miami where traffic can be a real pain (takes 25-30 minutes at times to travel 6-7 miles).

The Toyota Corolla 2015 LE is a comfortable car for commuting long and short distances. It is a smooth ride at higher speeds on the freeways and has the power when you need it. It handles well but probably not sporty enough for most. You don't feel the bumps in the road like in most cars. It is certainly economical. It lets you know how much fuel you are using! The exterior of the car has a nice streamlined look. The interior is OK - looks a little outdated but has many convenient features like the Ensure media system. Bluetooth phone, voice activation, reverse camera, automatic climate control etc. There is plenty of room in the car and you head does not touch the ceiling.

After two solid months, I am very pleased with my car. Does it have the best acceleration? No, but then again I'm a grown up and don't feel the need to screech tires, etc... As far as fuel mileage, it's rated at 37 mpg hwy but on a Thanksgiving trip from Shreveport, LA to Austin, San Antonio, and the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex I averaged almost 38 mpg. That's including high traffic areas of those aforementioned cities. I commute 9 miles to work one way. I average 32 mpg during true combined hwy/city conditions. I can only assume other reviewers complaining about fuel efficiency have poor driving habits and are a little heavy on the accelerator.

I recently bought a 2015 corolla after a crazy person crashed into me and totaled my 2007 corolla. This is my 3rd corolla in a row and my second brand new one. I bough it because my other one was so good and i was planning on driving until it died. I wanted the "L" model because it had the same engine and transmission as my last one. My 2007 corolla went 135,000 miles without only very one very minor issue. my old corolla got between 31-33 MPG. My new corolla started out getting about 27MPG and has steadily decreased. I now get about 21MPG. I took it to the dealer(3000 miles on it) and they gave me some BS about winter gas and it still needed to break in. i will be trading for honda!
