I love most everything about the car. From the factory the only sore point in the Base model is the stereo. I lasted 3 months before the poor head unit and plastic speakers drove me to replacement. This car is a mod'rs dream. I've installed a short shift plate and AOS, but everything else is OEM until I get past the 3/36K mark. This is a great car for the money. Yes, road noise is above avg, but it is a sports car. Yes, there are a ton of interior rattles, but its what makes a Subaru a Subaru. Buy felt tape and use it. The handling is "wow". Power is very good. 6 Speed manual is good. If you have a spouse that is always asking "What's the third pedal for?", the CVT equipped cars are great performers. The only issues I've had are a whistling clutch throwout bearing when it is humid and gasoline smell. The dealer says the clutch works fine, but won't address the noise unless it gives out. Similar issue with the gas smell. If it starts leaking fuel on the ground or catches fire, they said bring it back in and they'll try to find the source. I carry around a 10 lb fire extinguisher. Right now I park it outside until is cools down and stops stinking up the garage. Those are the reasons for low dealership satisfaction. I had a mildly modified Acura TSX prior to the WRX. The WRX is clearly a more fun car.

Raw, uncouth fun!

If absolute refinement is non-negotiable, the WRX is not for you. Don't bother reading any more reviews - go and buy a VW GTI! Subaru have built a great car, but it is one with compromises. Ride quality is firm to rough. Wind and road noise (OEM-equipped Dunlop Sport Maxx RT rubber to blame) tend toward the higher end of the spectrum. Interior fit and finish is lacking. The cable-linkage shifter-feel is rubbery, loose and inconsistent. Throttle mapping is anything but linear - closer to binary or step function; expect a herky-jerky ride if less-than-spirited acceleration is demanded. Rev-hang is quite pronounced in 1st or 2nd gear, requiring slow clutch release when shifting while driving slowly (think stop-and-go traffic). My early manufacturing cycle specimen has a heavy clutch, necessitating greater finesse while shifting (this seems to have been fixed later on based upon driving a friend's late-2015 WRX). Steering is tight but somewhat vague. The general feel of the WRX gives the impression of a bigger, heavier car. All that said, I wouldn't trade the WRX. The car driven is a raw experience but the extra effort required to drive it smoothly is very rewarding. Every (non-stop-and-go) commute is a blast; every heel-toe or shift nailed perfectly or the wave of acceleration following the lag leaves a grin plastered wide across my face. With the inevitable winter storms here in the midwest, inclement weather is joyfully anticipated once the Blizzaks have been slapped in place. Passenger comfort is quite good. Cargo space is sufficient for short car-camping trips for four. Fuel economy is solid at 27 mpg mixed. The WRX covers all bases while offering great entertainment as a daily driver.

First I am a long term subaru owner. I have had a Forester, Outback, and 2 Legacy's in our family. First the items that i dont like which are few. The car will ride a bit rough. You can rectify this by switching out the tires. I have put Continental DWS's on and wow, it really is smooth. The car is a bit noisy. its a performance sedan. It's not going to like a 50, 000 dollar luxury sedan. On a road trip its perfectly fine. The stock radio/speakers are not so hot. its an very easy fix. buy a good aftermarket radio and speakers. The car is a blast to drive. i have the CVT. you can drive this car as an everyday commuter and get over 30 miles on the highway and average overall 27 miles to the gallon. if you shift in the sport modes this thing will knock you back in the seat with its power. you will not find anything on the market that will deliver all this for the price. The handling is superb. If you take this car on a road trip you can cruse at 75-85mph and not realize how fast you are going. This car delivers the goods. My advice get one!

Fun car

I loved the car stock but went to Stage 1 with Cobb intake and AccessPort it really woke up the car. It handles like a dream. I take corners like a mad man all the time. The basic sound system is not great and an absence of auto blinkers(where it blinks 3 times automatically) and 17 inch tires aren't great, but I still love this car. I owned a 2002 Mustang GT with alot of bolt ons and I'd pick this WRX in a heart beat. MPG's are great if you have a little self control, and the wife loves it which is a miracle. It's great for families with lots of safety and room. This car isn't perfect, but I love it. I hope to keep it for many years to come.

For the money you can't beat it! It's very quick, handles extremely good, and is pretty efficient. The things that need to be improved are audio, navigation, and infotainment system even when purchased with Harmond Kardon system. The interior also needs some attention paid to getting rid of some annoying rattles especially from the arm rest. Once again though I can't stress enough you can't beat it for the money. Note that this vehicle is equipped with a set of summer tires. If you live in a cold climate you will 100% need to either switch to all seasons or buy a set of winter tires. I went with a set of winter tires and its safe to say it's unstoppable now!

This car is great, I have waited for years to own a Subaru WRX and now that I finally own one I couldn't be happier. It is absolutely the most fun I have had driving a car in many, many years. Just enough playful HP and torque to make the car an exhilarating fun drive. I have not had any issues with my car other than the occasional interior noise in a panel or two, easily fixed BTW by just searching the net. Oil changes are expensive, but hey I figured that using synthetic. The only thing I would change and glad they did in 16 would be the wheel size. Definitely going to an 18 - 8.5 or 9 when the time permits. I would highly recommend this car. Don't understand the negative reviews unless it was a lemon from the factory or just did not live up to the owners expectation. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Okay let start off with I had a 2004 WRX. I love it and I would of still kept it if I didn't total it. Unfortunately [non-permissible content removed]. Went to purchase a 2015 Wrx I saw a lot of reviews and felt I made my research. Unfortunately I didn't do it correctly I'm guess. At 300miles the check engine with the cruise control came on flashing, and while at a stop light (being in nutral) the case get it was going to stall. Took it in "they got it fix". Around 2,000 miles or so it did the same thing not only the check engine and cruise control came back on and the ABS and the hill assists and the rough idling kept on happening. Took it in they kept it for an entire month. Got it back and when turning on the car there's a very loud gear grinding sound coming for the engine bay (while in nutral). Took it in for the 3rd time they said its normal and all the new WRX make the same noise. WRONG!!!! It doesn't. I honestly wouldn't recommend this model to anyone. Buy a 2014 your better off. I've never thought subaru wouldn't stand behind their product. This car is garbage get something else a GTI your better off or a lancer

Extremely disappointed with what i thought would have been a great car based on reviews. Unfortunately the car had issues with clutch after 1200 miles, and service response was they would fix it once and after that I'm on my own, even though extended warranty was purchased. Subaru apparently does not stand behind it's product as this seems to be recurring issue across multiple forums. Went through a car wash and the air from the blower to dry the car ripped off the wiper arm as it was flapping like crazy, again subaru did not stand behind it. Enough was enough....

This is my first turbo charged car and I always debated myself getting used EVO X vs new 2015 WRX. I think I made a right choice not choosing abused EVO X. My previous car was 2008 Toyota Camry with 160k miles and I decided to sell the car before it causes big problems. I read everything about 15WRX before I purchased it, so I was expecting stiff ride; first I was little annoyed but I got used to it. Twin scroll turbo was amazing and I didn't have any issues of turbo delay(it has around 5sec lag around 2500rpm). SAWD suspensions performed superior to anyother AWD cars I have driven. It cornered very sharply without hearing tire skid. Overall, I made a right choice of getting 2015 WRX.

Traded in a Mustang GT for a WRX with CVT. What a mistake. The cars electronics (radio/Bluetooth/seat heaters) are out of the early 90's. The radio has poor reception and sound quality was awful. The Bluetooth would randomly disconnect, whether using my iPhone or Android phone. The car developed a bunch of rattles. The ride was harsh and the road noise was unbearable. The front paint was flaking off. Most of the issues were well documented in service bulletins but no fixes identified. The AWD was not that good in snow. The back end would over drive and cause the back end to slide out. Traded in on another Mustang. What a mistake.

Traded in my 2008 wrx, manual for the 2015 CVT. Wanted an automatic, was delighted to hear the new WRX was in auto, even if a CVT. Love it. Boring in regular mode, fantastic in sport #. Use it mostly in the middle performance mode for everyday driving. Lots of road noise, very still suspension. Razor sharp steering I've never come across before. Paddle shifters good, only use it to do a race start. Crappy navi, good stereo with Harman option. Very good cornering, brakes a bit stiff to push but work well.

Fun, affordable, and practical!

Was in the market for a non fwd car, manual trans, and a useable back seat for under 30k. Very few cars to choose from, but thankfully Subaru exists! Great power, just the boost takes some getting used to.Steering is tight with great feel.Very comfortable seats and visabilty front and rear is great.

Purchased the WRX after test-drive & reading reviews of WRX and WRX STI - I liked the STI's acceleration, handling, and in particular the brakes, but did not care for the appearance of fin or stiffness. As a 40+ yr old, I was looking for a car that was fun, but non-descript in a corporate parking lot and comfortable as a commuter/pick up the kids vehicle. I've driven the WRX 6K+ miles, and live in the Colorado foothills, windy road. It is a blast! Took awhile to get used to timing (turbo lag) and too many RPM's while shifting does release a horrible smell, but this only occurs when not careful. The car is very light; braking and acceleration = very responsive. I'm 6'2 200 lbs.

Lots of good things in this WRX

I had one of the original 2002 WRX cars and loved it. The trouble was that stock it had way too much squishy rubber to satisfy any potential buyer. New motor/trans mounts, ALK, smaller brake booster, and a bunch more urethane parts finally made it feel like a sports sedan. The 2015 feels like a sports sedan right out of the box. I hear people complain about road and wind noise, but don't find it to be an issue at all. My wife and mom don't find the ride too harsh, which surprised me. It's definitely firm, but not jarring.

This is a fast, excellent handling little car that is inexpensive and practical. It's a little rough around the edges but I love driving this car! Sometimes I have trouble taking off smoothly but after a second of turbo lag it really moves! Handling is precise and grip is amazing. The ride is very firm but well controlled. The clutch emits a pukey smell when slipped and the A/C is marginal. There is quite a bit of road and wind noise inside. I can't seem to get the base stereo to sound good; Kicker speaker upgrade is on the way.

Overall, I really enjoy my car. Its fast, its not too loud or too quiet. On just about any average freeway drive @ 75 mph i get about 30mpg with some passing of cars. If you drive 65mph you'll get 33-35mpg and if you cruise @ 55-60mph you will get almost 40mpg. Amazing all around car & when compared to the competition, there is no competition.

Over the last 22,000 miles the 'Rex' continues to shine with strong performance, excellent response to even moderate tuning, good MPG and reliability. The WRX really shines when given a COBB Stage 1 tune. Power delivery is smoother and more robust at the same time. In Stock tune the car has a light switch throttle, fast, but not smooth. Road holding is amazing - and to stress the traction limits of the car - one should be at a track. Excellent in wet and light snow conditions (only has about 5" of clearance). Car has proven a good people mover, able to take 4 adults and luggage. Ride can be rough, especially loaded with people. MPG remains higher than EPA estimates. Reliability is good, paint job is not as good as peers. Coverage is good, but paint quality to soft and chips easily. It does have rally car roots and can be taken down a gravel road (with proper training) at speeds faster then any car in its class- and most others well above it in price. Infotainment on the 2015 is mediocre compared to many - but bought the car for its simplicity and performance. Overall, still very pleased with the Rex. If you want a fast all weather, people moving, safe machine (with great resale value) - and don't want allot of electronic whiz-bang the WRX is hard to beat.

The Limited in stunning World Rally Blue is a work of art. A true drivers car. I am 6'2 275 lbs and plenty of room for me front and back. Excellent seats and position of controls. Superb build quality and extensive use of lightweight body panels. Engine sound and performance is designed for those who are truly drivers. Clutch feel is progressive and light enough for all day city driving. Turn in and braking is spot on. Dunlop performance rubber is a good choice. No needs for any after market upgrades. Many comments about Clarion radio..Simple reset of some settings solve this.Check on line for tweaks. Road noise is evident on anything less than smooth asphalt. Could be the tires.

After checking numerous car reviews and seeing the praise this vehicle was getting from many automotive journalists I was convinced this was the car I wanted. Not many people would buy a car without the initial test drive. It's almost like getting married without kissing the women you have decided to wed . However during the month of March I put a deposit down for the 2015 WRX Premium model, no leather seats was an option I could live without . The owners manual has you keeping the revs under 4000 RPM for the first 1000 miles and let me be the first to say it was treacherous. Must say the car looks better in person and grows on you. Overall I am very pleased with the car.
