I want to love my Subaru but....

I bequeathed my 2005 Honda Accord to my daughter so it was time to look for a new car. What I really wanted was out of my price range or just not practical with my family needs. I wanted something a little different and safety was a priority. We owned a 1994 Subaru Imprezza many years ago and it actually saved my wife's life when someone t-boned her. I've owned Hyundais and Nissans and in a previous life in the UK, Mini's (the original), Fords and Vauxhalls. My choices last year came down to the Honda Accord V6 Touring or the Subaru Legacy 3.6R with EyeSight. I eventually picked the Legacy. It's not a bad car, but there just seems something missing that could make it great. The safety equipment is excellent and the eyesight has engaged a couple of times and even stopped the car albeit no impact was imminent. That said, everything else about the car is just OK, it just doesn't stir any emotions and yet, with a big 3.6 engine and all wheel drive, I expected better, sportier handling and road holding, a quieter more compliant ride and better technology. Don't get me wrong, for the price, it's great value. Compare it to a Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc with the same level of equipment and you'll spend at minimum $10K-$15K more. I feel that Subaru played it safe, rather than making an aggressive statement to mid size car buyers. The one thing that really irks me are the ergonomics, which are awful. Our 1994 Imprezza was awesome, you got in and just sunk into a perfect driving position. This goes for other cars I've owned and rented. A year and half on, and I am still unable to find a comfortable driving and seating position. The seats look good but are narrow, very thin and have no side or lateral support. Furthermore, the lumbar even at it's lowest position pushes into my lower back which means the seat part does not support my thighs. If I tilt the seat base up to compensate, I have to recline the seat more for lumbar space and in turn leaves for no upper back support. The foot rest is also too close so I have to rest my left foot next to the break pedal. The steering wheel is at a strange angle too and the dials, while cool looking, are just too far away, as is the touch screen for all of the other controls. Whoever designed the ergonomics needs to take a look at them again. All in all, even on the shortest journeys, including my ten miles each way to and from work, I'm uncomfortable and at this point I'm so frustrated that I'm starting to look at alternatives and just get rid of it. Like the title of this write up states, I want to love my Subaru, but its just not doing it for me and when spending mid $30K on a vehicle that I had expected to keep and pass on to my eleven year old in the years to come. Its very disappointing and while I gave an overall 3 stars, in truth I'd give it 2 1/2.

OK here is my verdict on 2015 3.6 Legacy (On a three year lease) Pros: • Drive traction • Safety features Cons: • All six cylinders do not fire all of the time, 4 cylinders run until almost red lining. • Interior rattling noise everywhere. Areas in which you can’t reach to try fix yourself. • Technology- Radio, Nav, etc. The touch screen does not always respond to touch, you have to hit the section a few times for it except the command. • The seats have no comfort at all, hard and low quality leather. • I’ve been back 4 times for 3 different recalls. I understand this is low to mid 30K car but come on, how much profit does Subaru really need to make. My wife and I can’t wait for the lease to be over! Once a Subaru admirer.

I owned a Toyota Camry LE for 11 years before recently trading it for a CPO 2015 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited. I've had the Legacy for just over 60 days now. I drive it every day to and from work – about 35 miles each way in moderate-to-heavy traffic and back/forth between rural and city areas – so I have a pretty good feel for how this car drives at this point. First off, this is a GOOD car with the potential to be a much better car – it just has some shortcomings that I believe should be improved upon. (These are things that didn’t stand out during my test drive and could sway me to go back to Toyota or try some other auto brand in the future.) HERE’S WHAT I LIKE: Standard Symmetrical AWD; high reliability and crash-test ratings; heated front and rear seats; blind spot and rear cross-traffic monitors; multi-adjustable driver’s seat; comfortable leather interior; road hugging ride quality; great outward visibility; accurate backup camera; and interior dimensions – good head and leg room. HERE’S WHAT I DON’T LIKE: Loud wind noise (anytime I exceed 40-45 mph), makes it hard to hear the radio at normal volume; intrusive road noise, which I corrected by swapping out the standard Goodyear tires with Continental tires; lackluster acceleration for a V6 engine, CVT tends to lose momentum when you lift your foot off of the gas pedal – often jerky when accelerating and decelerating while in motion and when accelerating from a dead stop; as mentioned by another reviewer, accelerator hesitates before catching when shifting from reverse to drive; bumps in the road are not well absorbed (the 2016 model may have addressed this issue) ; no power to windows after you shut off the engine; no auto door locks; poor V6 fuel efficiency averaging around 24 MPGs combined; trunk lid’s arms and safety feature makes it heavy and sometimes hard to lift open; Infotainment system does understand most voice commands; and Harmon Kardon speakers are sometimes crackly. Again, the Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited is a good car – but it needs to be tweaked to its full potential, especially when you have tried and true midsize cars out there like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord that essentially do everything well. I hope Subaru will roll out an improved redesign soon. I’m trying to stand by my decision to buy this car, but I'm really starting to long for the quietness and smooth handling of my old Toyota.

Good car with a few minor problems

During our New England winter months, it takes up to 20 minutes of driving to reach my engine's "normal" operating temperature. At that point, the engine oil temperature is about 150 deg. F. During the summer months, the engine warm up period is reduced to 5 to 8 minutes. Subaru dealership claims that this is normal and there are no problems with the thermostat. My 12 years old Forester will reach the operating temperature within 5 minutes even during the winter months. This car has also some minor problems - trunk liner is poorly fitted, stitching on the rear leather seat is not perfect, gas filler door is installed off-center. One potentionaly more serious problem discovered recently is a gradual loss of coolant fluid. Every 6000 miles maintenance period the coolant fluid (approx. 2 to 3 oz.) needs to be added.

First 6 months it whistled, rattled and stuck

I cannot express my utter disappointment with this car. My family has always been Toyota people and after rave reviews from my now husband, I decided to purchase my first Legacy. Right off the bat I started hearing a whistling wind noise from the passenger window. The dealer assured me that it is a known problem and they will have a solution package shortly. Unfortunately it was 6 months before I moved up the long waiting list to get the solution. Then in the middle of winter, my fuel cover got stuck and would not open -- so I had to get it towed in to the dealership because the car was out of gas. Finally that was solved. Very shortly after that my driver's automatic window would not open. Luckily it is a known problem and they fixed it quickly. FINALLY, i started to hear a rattle in the mornings coming out of the front engine area. Had to bring it in several times because of course the rattle wouldn't happen when the serviceman would be inspecting it. Finally it turned out that it was loose heat shields. The dealer (different one since i moved) was not happy about fixing the problem on his dime, so he replaced them without tightening them so the rattle continued all winter. One year later, leaving the dealership half in tears with a realization that my brand new Subaru was a LEMON. And average mpg at 29. NEVER AGAIN.

Lives up to "Legacy" name

This car gets an A+ in every case except the Infotainment system that I find hard to use and not user friendly and lacking some features like smart phone compatability. The screen also catches alot of sunlight and tends to blind the driver frequently. The USB ports are useless. My other minor complaints are: 1)no autolock for the doors, its purely manual from inside the car. 2)radio antenna is where you expect the rear defroster should be and digital signal reception is spotty at best. 3)Unable to disable the lane departure warning by default so this is a manual process every time and it goes off too much for my driving style that avoids the frequent potholes in the northeast. 4)The car's user manual contains incorrect information, omissions and errors. 5)The engine runs cool and takes a while to produce heat for the cabin in the coldest part of the winter. I've gone through every season now and I feel this car is well worth its price tag and has features you cant find unless you buy a Lexus, BMW, Benz, Acura, Volvo for twice the price. The car is way more comfortable than I thought it would be for taller than average folks. In particular the OEM wheel/tire size is a great compromise between low profile handling and soft ride comfort. The fuel economy is great and the acceleration for the 2.5 engine is plenty. I plan to keep this car forever.

Luxurious feel. Smooth quiet acceleration(below average but adequate). Outstanding gas mileage for all wheel drive. A+ comfort. Voice activation is easy and efficient while driving. Adaptive cruise control is great as is safety vision feature. HK sound system is beautiful to listen to. Walkman and IPOD interface is good. A little slow interacting with walkman via USB. Blue-tooth easy and flawless. Navigation is wonderful to use. Interior is gorgeous Not a fan of CVTs but this is the best one i have ever driven. Much improved from previous model. Handling is very good. Love the torque vectoring feature for sharp handling. Fantastic climate control with all seats having warmers. Does a great job in snow and rain. Zipped thru 7-8 inches the other day with no problems getting up our large hill.

Bought it new. Key fobs act up and don't open trunk. There is a key to manually open door, then press dash button to open trunk. Cumbersome GPS. Good gas mileage and like the safety features-Eyesight.

My First Subaru, Impressed So Far

I bought the car for the Eyesight technology. I wanted the safest car I could afford, and if all goes well with reliability, this will be the car my son learns to drive on in 8 or 9 years. I am having a problem with the gas cap cover. It won't release even when I pull the lever multiple times. I have to have someone outside pushing down on it at the same time I'm pulling on the interior lever. Apparently this is a common problem and I'm on a waiting list with the Dealer for parts to fix it. The CVT takes some getting used to, and seems a bit rough on super-cold mornings. But overall, the car feels very solid and high-quality. Visibility is great, and handling is nice (but take that with a grain of salt, my last car was a Honda CRV). Lots of rear leg room for a growing kid and his friends. Huge trunk. I personally get great gas mileage. So far it's a lifetime 32 mpg, and I'd say I do 70% city and 30% highway driving these days. Update: one year in and it's still great. Still good mileage. Very happy with the purchase.

Great fit and finish...although it was dented easy by passenger getting out while refueling...didn't take much... Didn't buy a sports car and the 4 boxer is tried and true...The CVT takes getting used to... The tech in this car might have saved me as a large truck switched lanes without warning and the Eye Sight feature did the braking ... when backing it senses objects behind and to the side even if they are moving...blind spots are no more...but look still...lane departure is a bit sensitive but I can live with it...The heated seats stay on even on restart... plenty of trunk space... so far a good car.... UPDATE: Everything still the same ...pleasure to drive !

I like the Legacy. (Mine is a 2015, so some of the glitches may have been remedied.) It feels like a heavier, more expensive car than it actually is -- streets ahead of the 2003 Honda Accord I previously owned and as good or better than the 2006 Acura TSC my wife drives. Like the other Subarus I have owned (a 1982 Hatchback and a 2000 Outback) the fit & finish leaves a lot to be desired. The fuel-filler door won't open in freezing weather, which could potentially kill someone living in a climate like mine. (You're driving home at two o'clock in the morning and the only gas station is self-service. What are you going to do, find a rock and smash the fuel-filler door?) If it's seriously cold, I'll trip the fuel-filler door the previous afternoon and drive to the gas station next morning with it ajar. After a year, I'm still waiting for a real fix, rather than FILING DOWN the nubbin that secures it, as the dealer wants to do.) Worse yet, on another sub-zero morning last winter, the car wouldn't start when I came out of the gym. I phoned my genius daughter, who rummaged in my desk and found the valet key, which she speculated would work when the radio chip key didn't -- she was right! Both of these are known flaws (see the Subaru 6th Gen Legacy forums) and there is no real fix. Another serious problem is the gas mileage. 30 mph combined? Forget it! I get 28 mpg in the summer, 23 mpg in the winter, driving country roads at 30-40 mph, typically five miles in one direction. I attribute this to the CVT tranny, which turns over at 1100 rpm in warm weather, 2000 rpm in cold weather (until it gets thoroughly warmed up). Then too our gasoline is adulterated with 10 percent alcohol, unlike the EPA testers'. Finally -- and yes, I know I'm nit picking, but this is a review, right? -- it's almost impossible to read the time on the clock. You must look down at the very bottom of the dashboard, and the size is minimal. (The same is true of the temperature, which is otherwise a nice feature.) By the time your eyes are back on the road, you may have run over the neighbor's dog, or worse yet, the neighbor. But I like the car. I really do!

My wife has been a loyal Subaru fan for years. (When they up sized the Ouback in 2010, she cried. Now she loves her 2013.) Me, not so much. The acceleration and handling were average or below, and their ergonomics were quirky at best. Well the 2015 Legacy is a huge step up in handling - it's really a flat cornering, road hugging machine now, great fun on twisty roads. Acceleration is now above adequate (not stirring by any means, but I ain't 26 anymore). Merging etc. are fine. Gas mileage of 28 is a pleasant surprise (mixed driving). Reliability is as expected for a car with 14,000 on it - no issues. I test drove Accord, Sorrento, Mazda 6 and Maude one or two more. I just felt the driving experience was the best, much to my surprise. I also drove an Audi A4 which is clearly better. But not $15,000 better. Low spot is the infotainment system. Sound is very muddled - maybe the limited, with Harmon Kardon system is with it. Map navigation is bad. Use Google maps. With my new iPhone Bluetooth is reliable and good; was very flaky with my Android. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat.

Second windshield under 9,000 miles

At about 5,000 miles we had one crack on the lower right corner below where the wipers sit. There was no starring initially. They insisted it's a rock chip, that was in July. Had a second large crack in Oct 2015 top left in front of driver, again no starring. That's 2 windshields on a car with less than 9,000 miles. It's got to be the glass. There are NO large chips, the windshields just crack easily in my opinion. Probably an indicator that you will have frequent replacements.

It runs well. I'm looking forward to see how it drives in snow. Perhaps engine could be quieter. I believe engine is quieter than older models. I purchased a black color car with chrome accent. The chrome that runs along dashboard below steering will reflect on to the side mirror and makes it difficult to view traffic on driver's side mirror. I wish that the speakers that are on the doors could be placed higher. I have children and I see them placing there feet there and have seen mud on them. I do like that the button to open the trunk is very accessible. I no longer have to find it on the floor by gas lever as in my older Camry. The touch screen is great. It's taking time to figure out all it's functions. I never had a rear view camera and I'm seeing how helpful it is when parking in the city where parking can get tight. Overall, I do like the car Just needs a few changes in some interior design as I first mentioned.

I jumped to the Legacy from a Civic, and wow is it amazing! This car rides a lot like a luxury sedan, I can't believe how smooth the ride is. Also extremely quiet and barely any highway noise even at 80 mph. Interior styling is refined and stylish, does not seem pointlessly flashy like a lot of them. That's a matter of personal taste. I think the new entertainment system is fantastic though I wish they would get the MirrorLink figured out and give us a firmware update. Very informative and clear electronics. Sound system sounds great to me, almost a bit too bass heavy (guess I'm getting old), but crisp and punchy is a good way to describe it. It has power when you need it and the tranny is very versatile, providing smooth acceleration if you want it or good traditional gearshifts if you give it the lead foot. Compared to the '11 Civic I drove before, this has far better pickup. I suppose it all depends what you drove before. To sum it up, I absolutely love this car and although it is most likely years away, my next car will also be a Subaru.

A missed opportunity for Subaru

I am not sure if I should love or hate this car. At this time I am glad that I only have a three year lease and will not consider a Subaru again. The car overall is an excellent design and there is much to love: The handling on the street is superb in my opinion, visibility is great, and I would not want to miss the Eyesight feature. Fuel economy is good for a 4 wheel drive sedan (depending on how I handle the car, I get in-city from 23mpg to 30mpg). Air conditioning can keep up with southern Arizona. Now, the downsides: The stereo system is a a joke, with a very thin sound - forget hearing any classical music in this car. The system is not up to it; my old Toyota Matrix had a better sound system! The worst, however, is a lot of rattling sound in the car: The plastic cover around the EyeSight vibrates very well with every bump, and my brand new car was worse than my 10 year old Matrix. A trip to the dealer fixed the issue for maybe half a day. I have since put my own felt pads in place to reduce that rattle. Deep behind the instrument console there is a lot of other vibration going on wich resonates with the motor at certain rpms. And overall, after 9 month, a general rattle and squeaking sets in. Since I sold my old Matrix because I was annoyed by its rattling and squeaking, go figure how I think about my new car doing the same. Lastly, I find the front seats not very comfortable on long rides. After about two hours I start getting back pain. This might be an issue of my anatomy, but make sure the seat is good for you. So while I really love the Legacy overall, the rattle, squeaking, and very bad sound system are a deal breaker for me, and I would not buy this car again.

2.5 is not a rocket ship but it's just enough, very good acceleration at higher speeds. Cvt makes acceleration very smooth and when using paddle shifters computer makes sure it's safe for your motor and transmition so it doesn't let you push it to hard. Engine needs to be warmed up for quick acceleration. Interior very nice, some hard plastics on door panels get scratched pretty easy when you are not careful with your keys getting in or out. I'm sure it's faster in corners than most of competitors because it feels like it's glued to the asphalt (symmetrical AWD - love it) I'm sure I'll be one of the fastest guys out there in the snow or heavy rain, I wish my 2.5i premium had dual exhaust with louder boxer sound. Some people complain about louder acceleration, I wish it was louder so I could enjoy my boxer. I love this car and I will stay in Subaru family in the future. I had a problem with opening my gas tank door but it was fixed while I was getting my oil changed so I didn't have to wait long.

This car is full of surprises - all pleasant! I had some misgivings about the CVT and noise and acceleration., but it was unfounded. The artificial shift points keep the car responsive and quiet, and the paddle shifter is works well in mountainous terrain. The car inspires confidence in all situations thanks to the all-wheel dive and great sus[ension. The most amazing feature, however, is the EyeSight adaptive cruise-control, especially in heavy freeway traffic. ;At 20700 miles this is still an extremely pleasing car to drive. The comments from my earlier review still apply. Also, I did put new Goodyear tires on my 2012 Outback and they also ride very smooth and quiet. Original review attached below: This is my third Subaru and I drove Accord/Impala/Camry/Avalon first. The last drive in a Legacy sold me. A quiet, tight smooth ride, much quieter than my 2012 Outback , CVT shifts much better than my 2012 Outback. 36 mpg with continuous highway driving at 75 mph. Premium package is great value. I was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness and quietness of the Goodyear tires. ( I am a Michelin fan generally but will look at Goodyear replacement tires judged on this recent experience). Mixed city driving less than 6 miles one way is averaging 25 mpg. I like the better lugging ability of the newer 2.5 engine that makes the CVT more stable and quieter.

My wife had a 2014 Legacy which met an untimely end. Without hesitation we went to the local Subaru dealer and picked up a 2015 before they were all gone. The 2014 had a manual transmission which is no longer offered which is a real shame. My wife was concerned because we had rented a Sonata with a CVT which was horrible to drive. Thankfully no problems with the Legacy as Subaru has done an excellent job with the "gears" programmed into the CVT. An automatic might get a few more horses transferred to the wheels but then again I've driven some that seem to constantly hunt for the right gear. Having the paddle shifters helps and since we have had many years of experience with 2.5L Subarus we know what to expect when it comes to acceleration. I hate to admit it but even without the manual this is still a nice car to drive. And speaking of manuals, I was looking through the manual that comes with the car and I was pleasantly surprised to see details that have been left out of previous manuals. Sure it still says to take the car to the dealer but then proceeds to show how to do various maintenance items and part replacements. I don't remember as much being shown in previous ones. Of course it still has an awesome AWD system which we need to get out of our long and hilly driveway when the snow comes down. Thankfully Subaru put decent tires on the car. Not sure why previously they gave us AWD and then put horrible tires on to counteract it. On the outside the styling is much better than the last generation. Same with the inside. It is comfortable, quiet, the controls are better placed and I really like the details such as the pattern on the silver trim. I also think Subaru got the the instrument panel just right. I am not a fan of pods for the speedometer and tach but the look as a whole is good. Also, we purchased one with the EyeSight system. We like the adaptive cruise control and the accident avoidance feature is a major selling points. The related graphics display is nice eye candy and useful. The one thing we hope for is a more pleasant experience than with our prior Subarus when it comes to maintenance and reliability.

Love almost everything about the redesigned Subaru Legacy. We have the premium with the tech safety package. Can't believe the features and quality for under $25K. Blows every other midsize sedan out of the water. Entertainment system much better than prior Subarus. Ride quality much improved. Safety features awesome for this price point. Solid feel of AWD in times of climate change made us feel this is a better value than midsize hybrids that don't show that much improvement in MPG but have serious handling issues. Driving is not getting any easier in major metro areas with increased congestion and wilder storms, rain, ice, wind, etc. Now have 18K miles on it after 16 months of ownership. Is it possible to love a car more after a year than when you first bought it? We plan to own this for a very long time. Next car will be all electric, tho, but Subaru doesn't do that, yet. If they did, we'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

Great car overall, but poor acceleration

I've had this car now for 8 months. Paid about $23,500 for the Premium PZEV 2.5 with some extras included like auto dimming mirrors and heated mirrors. Love the styling both in and out. Very comfortable and I like the ride. The only thing I do not like is the CVT and engine being rather sluggish when they are not really warmed up. Once you drive around a bit the computer seems to recognize that everything is up to proper temperature and allows you to have faster acceleration. However it sucks first thing in the morning, pullout of of the driveway and trying to get into fast traffic. Also, the CVT is a little sluggish to respond to shifting and it can take a second or two of giving it gas before it starts moving. An automatic would be much snappier. Update: had for over a year and a half now. Two more bothersome things: The defrosting system is the worst of any car I've ever had. Very slow. The windshield takes forever to even get that fog off. The rear defroster takes ten minutes before seeing even small changes in fogging so the rear view camera is a must for backing up in the AM. Finally, the windshield has broken twice since I've gotten this car.

I have owned Subaru's for "utility use" for over 30 years (bicycles, sports equipment). After the kids left home, I purchased a used 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid sedan for travel comfort and added mileage. All the meanwhile missing the perks of an AWD vehicle. I tried to love my newly purchased 2015 Legacy but was miserably disappointed with performance of the CVT. Moral of the story: newer technology isn't always better. Glad I still have the Camry!

This review is for the 2.5i Limited model equipped with all OEM options, including EYESIGHT and NAV system. I have been leasing cars of this ilk, typically fully loaded, every 3 years. In addition I have test driven many others in an effort to help other people buy cars. My wife owns this Subaru, and it's clearly a winner with just a few reservations I'll get into below. I hope Subaru trolls these reviews. The car handles and rides very very well. Always a feeling solidity and composure. Steering is tight and right on target. Absolutely no complaints in any of these areas.

This is my 2nd Subaru, previously had a 2013 XV Crosstrek Limited, and the Legacy blows it out of the water. The only thing I miss is sitting up higher. Ordered my Legacy in December, 2.5 Limited in Carbide Gray, got every option but the V6. Test drove both and decided I would rather have fuel economy. Absolutely love the car! Now it has just under 7,000 miles after taking it on a trip to FL recently. The Legacy also handles very well in the snow, as any Subaru does. The only problems I have had are the passenger window switch went out and the Starlink/ NAV system had to be replaced due to the bluetooth and radio quitting. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned.

I've had this car for two months now with 4000 miles on it. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This car has everything I need. Looked at $60K+ cars and couldn't justify what this Legacy gives you for the money. It's smooth and comfortable, yet stiff enough to feel a bit sporty. Our family finds it very comfortable for highway driving. Never thought I'd buy a Subaru, but glad I did.

I'm 72 years old. My 2013 Accord beat me up over the potholed, patched and re-patched local roads. The Legacy glides smoothly over almost all imperfections. The seat and car was comfortable and quiet for a 8 hour trip, only stopping for toilets. Computer said 33.8 MPG then; but I usually average 28 MPG. Car corners like it's on rails. My handicapped wife can get in and out better than the other sedans. For a car that I consider light weight, small, economical, and lower priced, this does everything quite well. No problems at all at 3,000 miles. And the rear windows go all the way down, not half way, like some newer cars. P.S.:: now after 1 1/2 year and 8,000 miles total: The fuel mileage just gets better ( lifetime average is now 31 MPG ). I have no oil consumption problems, like some earlier Subaru's have reported. The CVT transmission is flawless. And the paddle shifter, wherein any gear can be selected and locked in, is useful in slippery snow and ice. This not as good as a manual transmission for deceleration on snow; but close to that, except for 1st gear (which "coasts"). The air conditioner, and climate control, keep us old folks cool on the hottest of days; and cools down quickly after the car "sits", closed up, all day in the sun.

Overall I am very satisfied with a car. 6 cylinders provide enough power. However car does not feel as sporty as my 2006 Accord EX V6. On another hand it provides more quite and comfortable ride (still not like a Lexus, but good enough). Some reviewers complained about a wind noise. To my opinion the wind noise is normal. Fuel economy (with 20-29 mpg expected): I have in town 22 mpg; highways (with activated cruise control) - 30.5 mpg cruising with speed 55 ml/h and 28 mpg at 72 ml/h.

A brand new car shouldn't have so many problems. Lots of wind noise, lots of road noise, *unbelievably* terrible sound system in my Legacy Limited (sound only comes out of the front center speaker), brakes not terribly responsive. Service guy at the dealership only acknowledged the wind problem and that's because Subaru already has a tech bulletin out on that (since apparently many, many people complained about the same excessive wind noise coming from the front windows).

Well I have had plenty of Subaru vehicles to compare the 2015 Legacy to. I wanted more safety features, the reliability I have grown to expect, comfort, fun, bells and whistles. I did not want leather seats if I could not get them ventilated and I wanted all the newest safety features that might prevent an accident from happening. Eyesight is impressive, blind spot help has already paid for itself, the rear camera with cross traffic indication in any parking lot seems a must when backing out of a busy lot with people walking in both directions and distracted drivers in cars rushing about. The car is comfortable, filled with new technology, fun to drive and decent gas mileage all with AWD

In Canada, this US made car is available in a six speed manual version. The car is still quite new, but is our second Subaru after a great experience with a 2006 Forester which we still own. I've come from owning Honda Civics, so the Legacy's quiet smooth ride is probably noticed more because of that. Things that surprise me are how quiet the car is, how good the mpg's are, how well it corners, how comfortable the seats are, what a remarkable value it is and how underrated the Legacy is. Negatives? A tiny clock and outside temperature gauge. If you live in an area where it snows and/or rains a lot (or even if you don't) and know how valuable AWD can be, this is your best option. *Update: We've driven the car for one year since the initial report and still love it. We would buy another Legacy if we were in the market. We also added a 2015 Crosstrek to the driveway having liked our Subarus so much. Dealer and their service department have been excellent.

I was looking forward to my Legacy. I love the way it looks inside and out. It has a simple design with a great price tag for all wheel drive; however, after a month of having it my back started hurting. The lumbar support on the seat will not go down all the way. Before you drive this car sit in it four a couple of hours. It hurts my back so much I am going to trade it in for a new vehicle.

for the most part I am very happy with my purchase of the 2015 limited. there where no surprises, I did the usual research including consumer reports and sites such as Edmunds. I found the car to have adequate pick up for a 4 cylinder and visibility, comfort and controls are all excellent. my commute is a mix of highway and street aprox 10 miles each one way and I have not experienced the wind noise from front windows which I saw on some reviews. The voice command does not work well it has hard time recognizing basic phone book names such as "call home" and I found a longer lag time for voice commands than other cars in this class. the GPS only has limited voice commands.

I know buying a car is a terrible investment to begin with, but when you've had more problems than you should it really makes you think. I have issues with my car starting, the car stalls out when starting and sometimes wont even turn over. Brought it back to the dealer and was told there is nothing wrong with it and chalked it up to user error. The Remote start also never works unless I am 4ft from the car. The Ride quality is terrible, you can hear and feel every bump and vibration in the car. The seats are also terrible and the wind noise is unbearable. And the sound system is tinny and distorted.

So i pulled the trigger and decided to lease this car instead of buying it since I have never had a Subaru before and I heard they will be upgrading the power train in a couple of years. I have the eyesight system and I can tell you it works. I got distracted and the things start beeping, display blinking and my brakes stopped my car. Already payed for itself! Burning smell from engine & snow water entering engine bay – Discovered snow/water entering engine bay/compartment while driving in snow. Serious safety risk to electrical components. Contacted Subaru of America no response yet. Filed NHTSA complaint. 2. Water leak in foot well of cabin. 3. Awful wind noise driving above 40mph. Defective moldings replaced on all doors by dealer per TSB. 4. Moonroof - above 60 mph moonroof whistles loud. Dealer adjusted. 5. Defect driver lumbar; dealer inspected and determined faulty parts from factory - on order.

Test drove numerous mid-size family sedans and ended up with the 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium in Carbide Grey Metallic. Two weeks in and I'm very happy with my choice. Living in the northeast means traction is important during the winter months and the Subaru delivers with its Symmetrical AWD system. I've never had an issue getting to work and I've always felt safe driving this car. I got the base 2.5i premium with no extra options (no Eyesight, moonroof or navigation). This is still a very nicely equipped car for the money.

Loving this car so far in the winter weather. My front driver I traded in got stuck 3 times this winter and I'd had enough of that. I got the premium trim with the moonroof and navigation. This is a nice car at a very inexpensive price point at this trim level. 7 inch screen is gorgeous and the stereo sounds great even though it's not the 12 speaker one. I got the auto dimming mirror with homelink as well and this is great if you've ever had a battery getting low on your garage remote. If you can live without leather, this is a great trim level to get.

This is the first Subaru we've ever bought, and we have no regrets about it. It's a fantastic car, and that's even before you look at how much value it offers; for example, a similarly optioned Ford Fusion costs upwards of $5 thousand dollars more! And the features aren't even as good or refined. The Eyesight adaptive cruise is awesome, and it is completely worth the extra money. The Harman/Kardon sound system is better than some in more expensive cars. The interior is roomy and the seats are very comfortable, and even the rear seats are heated. I decided to buy this vehicle after test-driving it. I think they have done a great job gearing this car towards a younger audience. My dealership is 5 mn away from home and that was a decision factor too. I read people's comments (editors included) that the car might seem underpowered, I will tell you this is NOT true. Of course, this is no Corvette or GT-R, but what more do you want? For years, we the consumers have been begging for better fuel efficiency, and when this is achieved, we complain. This is my second Subaru, my first being a 2013 Impreza Limited. I stumbled on the Legacy at the dealership during a service and decided to take it for a drive. I was amazed by how the 2015's next gen CVT performed with simulated shifting on harder exceleration, it feels like any other 6 speed auto. The cabin is very quiet and the car provides a smooth ride. I ended up with the Legacy Premium and am very happy with my choice. The best part is even going to a larger car from my Impreza, the Legacy yields the same fuel economy. Its a no brainer, size, power, comfort and Subarus AWD system makes this the best bang for your buck as far as mid sized sedans. Drive one, you wont be dissapointed!

this is my second Subaru-the first is a 2003 Outback which I still own. While both are solid cars, the 2015 Legacy has a luxury ride and feel. If you are looking for a comfortable, safe long distance driver, it is pretty hard to beat the Legacy. Ride is comfortable and quiet. Love the Eyesight and other safety features. It was Important to me to have a safe car for my family so the added safety features were worth it. I often drive 750 miles one way to my vacation home and I arrive refreshed and ready to go further. 4 wheel drive is great. I tested others-Toyota Camry, etc and they are not even close. After year and half I'm still impressed by this car. Very solid highway ride. Adaptive cruise control is great for long trips. Highly recommend this car.

This is my 5th subi and 1st Legacy. In the past, it was either the Forester or the Outback and they were/are very solid cars. Not very pretty to look at but very practicle and comfortable. This Legacy is a different than the rest. More conscious toward younger and new users. Bit more techie and more sporty. In some sense this is a good thing, but for me this ride is hard to get use to. It is firm...like 90' BMW firm. On a smooth surfaces all is well, but on uneven roads, it gets busy, really busy. Unfortunately, where I live, there are not too many buttery roads. I will have to wait and see how my body will adapt to the car. Honestly, I see back ache returning.

I've had a 2008 Legacy, a 2012 Legacy, but this 2015 Legacy Limited is AWESOME! I wasn't expecting a complete new look (thankfully), but the subtle exterior changes are nice. The 18" wheels are really nice. The fact that this car has safety features NOT EVEN OFFERED by it's main competitors should be reason enough to give it a look. You get a lot for $30k, especially at trade-in time. I owned an older Mercedes and recall that the S-class had Distronic Cruise Radar for $3,000! The Legacy with EyeSight crash avoidance won't set you back nearly that much. It also has blind-spot monitoring. But in addition to the best in class safety features, I really like the upgraded interior.
