My brand new Nissan Murano ​randomly caught fire ... trying to determine why Nissan's marketing campaign is "innovation is what we do, excitement is your experience". You can say that again. We recently experienced Nissan's 'Innovation' in a horrific way. While at rest, in a mall parking lot, our Nissan Murano, with less than 6,000 miles on it, spontaneously caught fire from (what we suspect is) a faulty Nissan Murano Anti-lock Brake Actuator. The theory is that this device ignited a fire that consumed the entire front half of the vehicle. ​An electrical 'flashover' sent super heated toxic flames across the inside passenger compartment, of the Nissan Murano, reaching the rear window in seconds. It was not until the fire department arrived that the toxic event, inside the Nissan Murano, of super heated molten plastic, rubber, leather, fabric and metal was able to be extinguished. After the fire department's foaming exercise brought the lava like Nissan Murano inferno under control, we were left with an internally charred carcass of 'excitement' that was a total loss. Nissan declined any attempts at discussion related to the event. Spokespeople for Nissan instructed us to work with our insurance provider or consult legal counsel, and that they were removing themselves from any liability or culpability. The dealership, Autonation Nissan Arapahoe, where the car had been the day before for an ABS light that had just appeared on the dash, took the same stance - work with your insurance company or seek legal counsel. We never got any answers on why it happened, why a vehicle, at rest, would ignite, burn and kick of a life altering event that continues to this day. The research posted here is an attempt to understand 'why' this event occurred, and, until we gain knowledge of the cause, to warn others that they may be exposing their children, home, or other valuable assets to Nissan's life altering 'excitement'. When I decided to purchase a new car I had my heart set on the new Lincoln MKC. I went to the dealership to test drive one but was disappointed in how small it was. It was impossible to fit in the back seat and there was virtually no trunk space. I then went to the Volvo dealership to look at the C60 which had received top notch consumer reviews. Again I was disappointed. I went on to look at Mercedes, GMC, Chevrolet and Ford. I couldn't find one that I really liked until I drove by the Nissan dealership and saw the Murano. I thought the styling was unique and and totally unlike any SUV I had seen. After test driving one, I was sold. I ended up purchasing the Platinum addition with all the bells and whistles. Fast forward a year and 10,000 miles later. I still think this is an awesome car. It is the most comfortable car I have ever driven. I have a bad back and find most car seats aggravating. Not with the Murano. Trust me, if you buy one you will not be disappointed.

Blind spot on passenger rear wheel well side. wise smart looking car with excellent acceleration and traction. Sweet ride and comfortable interior. Instrumentation is easy and user friendly. Navigation GPS the easiest to use, I have ever seen. Good looking car with great torque and horsepower. Price is comfortable and affordable. Great MPG

I've had a Murano since their inception...on my 4th one. Currently have a 2015 Platinum AWD...Mocha color with light interior. When I first got it I had everyone ask about it when ever I stopped for gas or wherever. Super comfy to drive though there is a hood glare when the sun is at a certain angle...no big deal. We have a home in Florida for winter & driving down in the Murano makes the 1750 mile trip enjoyable. Though gas mileage can suffer in town stop & go traffic (true for any SUV) gas mileage on the highway is great. We have got as much as 31 going down to Florida. Futuristic styling puts Murano above all the normal look SUVs. True of interior styling also. Much better then any SUV priced $5 grand more. Let me tell you about Nissan itself. Our first 2015 Murano was white. We had some trans problems & you know what Nissan did. Rather then try and figure out the problem (under warranty) which could have taken who knows how long they told us to go down to the Nissan dealer in our home town & pick out another new Murano & they would take the white back. NO CHARGE!!! Dealer didn't have another white one on hand so we took the Mocha color rather then wait for a white one to come in or do a dealer trade. Love the Mocha. Now what does that tell you about NISSAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car is beautiful and has a great ride. The only problem we have found is that there are large blind spots over the back wheel wells, especially on the passenger side. Short of moving the side mirrors every time a lane change was needed, I don't know how anyone could be assured that no one is beside them.

Absolutely love the the only reason I gave it a 97.9 is because of the volume buttons is low on the steering wheel and the start button is kind of awkward as well as the gas lever.

I love my Murano, I had a Jeep which I was glad to trade in. I love the V6 and all the extras like the cameras. The only problem I have it is really hard to keep the interior clean and the side doors scratch really easy, I'm not sure how it got scratched because I am the only one that drives it and I don't have kids.

I loved this car. I use to drive a Chrysler Pacifica which made me fall in love with mid-size SUV's. The Nissan Murano EXCELS by LEAPS in comparison. The body style is extremly futuristic yet very classy at the same time. The interior of the car make you feel you are in a BMW , or Lexus. The only complaint is the design of the hood tend to have a glare on extreme sunny days. ALSO ............... Because I decided to purchase the Cashmere (Bleach Color) Interior it is a challenge keeping it clean, but the color is SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL with those luminating enterior lights it is worth the effort. :-> NISSAN........... YOU HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK!!!!!!!!

The car drifts at highway speed. It take more work to keep it straight than other cars I've owned. At dusk the center console display is tough to read.

I'm really not sure why this isn't considered a luxury SUV. It has all the bells and whistles as Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW, which are all very much overrated. I drove the Mercedes GLK and the Audi Q7 before purchasing this vehicle and it was clearly the winner in my opinion. I just could not see what the Mercedes did that the Murano didn't, besides the obvious name Mercedes. The Murano Platinum is overloaded with features. My personal favorite is that it's turbo charged, so I have no problem getting in and out of traffic when I need too. The "futuristic" look is just stunning. The interior is looks like that of a super luxury car and the big 20 inch tires makes it sit up higher and looks "buff". I love it!

I have owned a string of Honda CRVs. However I feel Honda did me wrong on a major defect that should have been a recall so I started looking for a new brand of midsize SUV to pledge my loyalty to. I drive a lot and trade in my cars every 5 years will 150,000+ miles on them. I almost did not test drive the Murano because the sloping front end felt odd and scary to me. However the very patient salesman showed me how to use the cameras and now I feel very comfortable driving the car. I have now had the car for 11 months and totally love it. The Murano has terrific acceleration both on the highway and from a standstill. Driving 75 mph feels as smooth as doing 30 mph. The gas mileage is great for the size of the car and the rear storage capacity of the Murano is impressive. Do I use all of the technology? No, but I like knowing it is there. Also as someone who has all of the car maintenance done at the dealership, the routine Nissan service is much less expensive than the routine Honda service was. That was an unexpected bonus.

The ONLY complaint i have about this car is where the radio knob is located and gas mileage in town in not great. I've had the car for about a month now and it is AWESOME. My 12 year old said he needed to be wearing a suit when he got out of the car at school! He feels like a rockstar! The interior (tan leather) is gorgeous, feel and looks very high end. All of the saftey features are great too!

This vehicle was a real bargain for a 6 cylinder mid size crossover SUV. It's considered near luxury in its class with the latest automotive technology, very comfortable ride and appealing exterior design. I've owned Volvo, Lexus and Audi cars. All luxury class vehicles ... none of which can compare with the 2015 Nissan Murano.

Drive all crossovers. You will choose this one because the ride is very smooth with 18 wheels the engine is strong and fast. Interior is laid out well and very user friendly. Tan is the best color for the inside . The cabin is quiet..insulated very well.. Gas mileage is good for this size crossover..CVT changes smooth. Hard to go wrong with this one. Good resale value also..

The car was big and comfortable.In fact too big. Also the 6 cylinder had lower gas mileage. Who wants to pay more for gas now a days. the visibility was ok. the acceleration was a little sluggish. Getting on to a highway could be a potential problem

I have had my 2015 Marano for about 10 months and have nearly 10,000 miles on it. The ride is fine and the vehicle has been reliable. My complaints are the VERY overdone technology (instrumentation). It is way too cluttered and complicated. My salesperson didn't even know how to operate the various screens! Do I really need to have coffee cups and snow flakes appearing on the instrumentation? Took me an hour of reading the manual to figure out what this meant and then only to discover it was totally unimportant anyway. BIG waste of instrumentation! Driver's seat is uncomfortable and almost seems maligned. Very difficult to see out of the rear window. This car has style, but the designers forgot about operational function. This is my first Nissan purchase and very likely my last. Very disappointed!

This is my second Murano...I traded in a five year old Murano that I still enjoyed driving but wanted to update. My trade in Murano along with the three Maxima's I have owned have been the most dependable vehicles I have ever owned and that is why I prefer to buy Nissan vehicles. The experience at my first dealership visit set up through Edmonds was not very positive. I had a loud and pushy salesperson that must have thought I was an idiot. He lowballed me on my used car by about $3000...He asked me where I got my price from...The visit was set up via Edmonds...Need I say more. My wife and I did not enjoy all we went through to get this automobile, but we really love it now that we have it. As stated in reviews it has a somewhat softer ride than our previous Murano and we enjoy that. It is a very quiet ride and we really appreciate the increased mileage. We got 27 MPG on an interstate trip and average about 21 MPG on our suburban driving. That is up from about 18 suburban and 20 highway from our last Murano...Impressive improvement. We were committed to purchasing a White car. It is hard to believe the Pearl White is an upgrade...I have the same paint on my Maxima and there was no up charge...In fact I believe Pearl White is the only upcharge paint. All of our white cars have had a beige/tan interior. When we saw the Murano with the beige interior we hated it. The cheap white paneling looked awful and it looked like there was a beige pad over the speedometer. If beige was the only option interior we would not have bought the car. However the Graphite interior with the brushed steel trim looks like a different interior...We really like the look of it and are quite satisfied. We both think that Nissan made a big mistake with the beige interior...I believe they called the panel trim white washed oak...It looked extremely cheap...Hard to believe they made such a miss. We did contact the Nissan home office about the poor sales treatment at the first dealership and they did follow up with us on it. I recommend anyone who has a poor experience with a dealer to contact Nissan...The did follow through on my complaint. Shopping for a car should be enjoyable but it rarely is. With the help provided by Edmonds you know the value of your trade in and a fair price for the vehicle you want...I have depended on Edmonds for the last six or seven cars I bought and it helps make you a more informed consumer. My advice to anyone shopping is to get up and walk out when your salesperson is unsatisfactory.

Hood design reflects sun directly into driver's eyes. Silver trim on dash A/C vents reflects in windows on both doors preventing you from using outside mirrors on Both sides of vehicle without annoying distortion. Side posts finished with hard surface, unused seat belts rattle. Engineering and Design integration lacking on this vehicle. Had my test drives revealed these design flaws I would NEVER have bought this car. There have been three recalls on vehicle in one year, one major!

I traded in my 2009 Mazda 6 GT which I loved! But after purchasing this car, I am more than happy! Comfortable, smooth ride, great safety features, awesome technology... Easy to understand, Panoramic roof, auto lift gate and so much more! I have the 2015 Murano SL in orange with mocha brown leather. Dont know about reliability yet since it is very early on. Car feels solid! Put this on your list to test drive! Feels like a $50,000 car!

We have had the Murano for only about 1,000 miles now but very impressed so far and I will update if anything changes. Highs: Super comfortable in front and back. Love being able to remotely raise and lower seat backs. Perfect hight, no stepping up or down into vehicle. Design of the interior feels very high class and the large driver screen in front of the driver is fantastic. Acceleration is very adequate. I am actually enjoying the CVT transmission as it is so smooth. Handling has been very impressive, it corners more like a sedan. We are coming from a european car so we are very excited about the excellent reliability of these SAV's Lows: Engine is a bit loud at heard acceleration. Cheaper feeling door handles(especially with how high end everything else is, these should be steel). Passenger seat doesn't have as many adjustments as drivers.

I've had my Murano for about 4 months now. I can honestly say I love it. I got a great deal from my dealership and the buying experience was very pleasant. The car is very comfortable, powerful, very nicely finished, and I think it looks great. I drive mostly in the city and I get somewhere between 22-18 mpg. It's not the greatest but it is fine considering the size of the vehicle and the amount of power you get from the V-6. I think the exterior looks great, it really stands out when compared to other SUVs in its class. Some people have commented that it is a little too futuristic but I'm a fan. The interior is very comfortable thanks to the zero gravity seats and all of the Nav/audio/bluetooth controls are very intuitive. I have yet to open the owners manual to figure out how to do something. The little compartment that houses the USB port is too small to hold a phone and the you cannot close the lid with cable connected. It's kind of annoying but it isn't a deal breaker for me. I know that people seem to love to complain about the CVTs, but it feels fine to me. The car is smooth and quiet, and it doesn't feel slow. I test drove several comparable SUVs and this has much more power. The back-up camera is very useful and has greatly improved my ability to parallel park. It's not a sports car, but anybody who gets a SUV and expects sports car performance and handling is being unrealistic especially at this price (I paid less than $30,000 for mine). Find a good dealership who has fair prices and bargain hard. I ended up driving 60 miles to a dealership that was willing to give me a good deal, I saved a few thousand dollars.

Wonderful all around vehicle, very comfortable, smooth and powerful. can be a little overwhelming technology wise but after some time becomes very easy to use. Best bang for buck with good reliability and resale.

I'm probably biased as an owner, so take my review for what it is...just my opinion. I'll start with the redesigned style. I've read some reviews online calling it ugly...those people must have only seen the orange model and focused solely on the color. My black platinum with the 20 inch rims is a head turner. I'm sure other people have said the same, but from the side it kind of reminds me of a Lexus RX 350. Even though it's not considered a luxury vehicle, the platinum model is sleek on the inside. The leather seats are extremely comfortable (I'm between 6'4" and 6'5"). With the front seat adjusted to my liking, I have enough space when seated in the back. When I adjusted the front seats and shifted them all the way to the back it was a little tight. But I think most people would have enough room in the back seats even with the front seats moved all the way back. Front seats are heated and cooled. Back seats are heated. I've only tested the cooled seats before I purchased the vehicle to make sure they worked. The heated function has 3 settings and works really well, so I keep it on the 2nd setting. In the summer I'm sure I'll use the cooled seats on the highest setting. Also has sliding moon roof that I'm sure I'll make use of in the summer. I don't really need the cargo space, but seems sufficient and the back row goes down with the push of a button. The technology inside is great. Has a rear view camera and it even has cameras on the side mirrors with a birds eye view if you're making any tight squeezes around town. The technology on the dash is simple to use. Seems to have the perfect amount of buttons along with a touch screen. Some cons about the inside: I never thought I'd complain about something like this, but the glove box is a little weird...it's kind of deep, but narrow at the same time. Also the cup holders aren't the biggest. Good luck if you're the type of person who keeps a million random things in your center console and cup holders. Another problem is outward visibility. The sensors on the left and right help, but I wish I had a better view of the cars surrounding me. Now on to performance: If you're looking for something sporty, this isn't the vehicle for you. Acceleration isn't the greatest and the 20 inch rims aren't the best option for making sharp turns. I didn't test the models with smaller rims, so I don't know about the turning on those. Also I've mostly driven in the city, but the MPG seems to be slightly less than they advertise. In the city I usually get 18-19 MPG...not 21 like they claim. This vehicle seems to be more about comfort and the ride is really smooth. I can't think of another car I test drove that felt as smooth going over these huge Wisconsin pot holes. With that being said, when you include taxes, title and everything I think $40k is a really good price for a fully loaded platinum. Some people might say it is over priced for a Nissan, but when you consider all the features it isn't bad. Sure it isn't an Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti, but I think it's the next best thing when you don't have an extra 15-20k to play with. I'm sure there are other things to be said that I haven't mentioned. I've never reviewed a car on here before, so I don't know if I can edit this in the future. If I can, I will update my miles, MPG and any other details I think of. I also can't speak for the maintenance cost, repair frequency and a couple of other things. So I'll update that as time passes.

Let me start my saying this is our first SUV, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Bought the 2015 Murano Platinum a few weeks ago and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Was hesitant about getting the 20 in. wheels since another guy who wrote a review said it rode hard. I have found this to be not true and the ride is very comfortable. We got the Pacific Sunset color with the black leather interior. In my opinion, this is one of the best color combinations. Overall, we are extremely happy with this car so far. Some of the pluses include; 1) One of the best looking SUV's on the road. Looks better than it's Infinity cousin and the Lexus 350 and is $10-$15,000 less. 2) The 360 camera is great! 3) An SUV that can get 21 city and 28 highway with a 6 cylinder, 260 HP engine is very good. The car is still in the break-in period so it is too early to tell. A lot of other reviews complain that their actual mileage is less. 4) The power up back-seat function is great. The back seats can be raised from the back cargo area or from a button on the dashboard. 5) The main 8 in. screen and the instrumentation are well laid out and easy to understand. 6) The LED headlights really light up the road. 7) The memory foam seats are very comfortable. 7) The 20 in. wheels that come with the Platinum model are really nice. 8) The panoramic roof is great. A couple of small negatives; 1) The silver vent bezels that surround the vents on the left and right side of the dashboard reflect an image of the bezel onto the glass driver and passenger windows. This is annoying but is not a problem with the windows down. 2) The seats, while comfortable, do not seem to extend far enough to support your thighs very well. The Maxima has seat extenders installed for just this very reason but these are not available on the Murano. 3) The engine is a little loud if you step on the gas too hard from a dead stop. 4) Although the car has all kinds of safety features, rear warning beepers are not an option. The car does have a rear camera and rear cross alert however. 5) The blind side lights are not very bright, do not blink and make no warning beep making them hard to notice during the daytime. Update Sept., 2016 Had the car for 7 months now and still love it! A couple of updated comments; 1) Mileage seems to be as advertised. 2) A correction on number 5 above. The blind side warnings do blink but only if you have your turn signal turned on. Otherwise, the warning light is a steady orange and not very noticeable when not flashing. 3) Am glad we bought the 2015 since the color we got (Pacific Sunset copper) is reportedly no longer available on the 2016 model. 4) You must really be careful as the visibility over the hood and sides of the car is poor. Ran into a low level lumber cart in a Home Depot parking lot that I could not see and had to have a ding repaired in the door.

Purchased a 2015 Murano in June, 2015. About a week after we had the vehicle there was this clanging noise that can be heard when the vehicle is warmed up and reaches 1000-1100 RPM. In total, have taken this vehicle in for this same problem going on 9 visits. The dealership we purchased the vehicle at had technicians that simply did not want to take the time to really investigate what the problem is. Took the vehicle to another Nissan dealership in the nearby city and one of the technicians who heard the noise said this is a problem they are referring to a Nissan factory technician who comes around every so often. Still waiting on the call. It's not a matter of if, but when, the vehicle is going to break down on us due to this clanging noise. You can really hear it in a parking garage and I had a couple of people tell me my "new car" sounded absolutely horrible. There is a very strong possibility this could be a dangerous hazard - the dealership we purchased this from does not care - they got their money and have kicked us to the curb; at least this other dealership acknowledges there is a noise - but a mystery as to exactly what it is. At first it was thought the heat shield needed replacing; then the exhaust system - noise still exists. The steering wheel makes an intense squeaking noise when you turn after warming it up. Sounds like an old $50.00 jalopy and not a vehicle that has very low mileage. Very disappointed in Nissan. I've had Toyota, Isuzu and Honda; thought we'd try Nissan. We should have stayed with Toyota. Come on Nissan. Care about your customers for a change.

Worst Crossover I Drove

This crossover was so disappointing that it is hard to describe. The handling was poor. The transmission shifted intermittently. The interior room was cramped. I drove multiple crossovers and was excited about this one until I drove it. It handled like an old pickup truck. I had driven the Infinity version in Yellowstone in 2009 and it was an annoying vehicle. This was more disapointing. If you want a vehicle in this class, buy a Ford Edge!

I purchased the Nissan Murano Platinum edition in March, 2014. Prior to this, I owned a 1998 Nissan Maxima, 2004 Nissan Maxima and a 2012 QX 56 Infinity. When my lease on the Infinity ended, I got the Murano in 2014. In Jan, 2016, with only 10 months of owning the car and with 10,000 miles it left me stranded on the Interstate. While driving 65 miles an hour in the center lane of the freeway the car would no longer accelerate. At first I thought I might have accidently hit the gear shift and it was in neutral. IT WASN'T. The stretch of rode where this happened was under construction and there was barely a shoulder for me to move over on. Since the car would not go into gear, I was stopped partially on the highway and partially on the small shoulder with cars traveling 65+ miles an hour. I contacted the dealership Immediately, CLEAR LAKE NISSAN and told them where I was and what happened and that I was scared I was going to be killed given where I was and that I could not move myself or the car. They sent someone to pick me up from the vehicle that I had to climb out of from the passenger side b/c I could not open the car doors. The car was towed to NISSAN and I was informed the next day that I needed a new transmission. YES A BRAND NEW CAR LESS THAN A YEAR OLD THAT I BOUGHT OFF OF THEIR SHOWROOM FLOOR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I explained to them that this was my fourth NISSAN and that the car was clearly faulty. I have small children and thank GOD they were not in the vehicle with me when this occurred. I told them I did not want this vehicle since the car was clearly unsafe. I contacted the dealership to talk with the General Manager of CLEAR LAKE NISSAN who never returned my phone call. I filed a formal complaint with NISSAN and told them to initiate they buy back program or do whatever they had to do I did not want the car any longer. They contacted me after 7 days of having my car and said it was fixed to come and get it. I asked the Service Mgr did you test drive the car to ensure the transmission is working and that there are no check engine lights on etc. I was advised that no they did not. They order a transmission already put together and put it in the vehicle and that's it. So I stated it could still be faulty and they said yes. Nissan Consumer Affairs contacted me and told me they would be willing to make one payment on the vehicle but that is it. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and AVOID THE HEADACHES - DON"T BUY NISSAN

Having Regrets with Only 1500 Miles

Contrary to other reports about the seats, I find the driver's seat very uncomfortable and almost returned the car for that reason. Other issues I've discovered on the Platinum Series Murano are listed below. 1) The 20" wheels inflated to 35 pounds are a disaster. You feel every bump in the road. Going over painted crosswalks gets you a definite thump. Talk about noisy as well. 2) The high dash and hood obstructs my view (I'm 6'2") of possible obstructions, i.e. posts, columns, etc., near the area of the right front headlight. 3) In the area of the wiper blade well, the hood metal slopes backward approx. 45 degrees and will reflect sunlight in the drivers eyes on sunny days between say 11 AM to 3 PM when driving towards or away from the sun. This is a safety hazard and some non-glare material needs to be added. 5) The extra 1" of overhang for the top cover of the convenience storage box between the driver and passenger seat obstructs the fasting of the drivers seatbelt. I can only imagine what trouble a very heavy person would have attaching their seat belt. 6) No ability to raise the passenger seat vertically. Was that really to costly an item to add? 7) While there are lots of cubby holes and places to store things, they are all deep, long and narrow. I miss the large convenient storage area forward of the gear shift and under the dash in my '07 Murano. 8) With 1500 miles on the car, I'm only seeing 21 mpg and I've extensive freeway driving. 9) There are fit and finish issues I'm per sung with the dealership, i.e. a whistling in the driver's door at 50MPH, plastic inserts in the steering wheel overhang and tend to scrape your fingers. 10) I paid for the Paint and Leather Guard package but I was told the paint guard was applied at the factory. If so, why did I have to pay extra for this. Other issues remain to be discovered. All in all, very disappointed compared to my 2007 Murano SL

First time Nissan buyer here.. Traded my 2010 Passat wagon (w/ 125K miles) for a 2015 Murano SL with 33 miles on it. I must say, this is a very well thought and engineered Crossover. Beautiful design that stands out, I love looking at it. My only minor complaint is the middle console sways a bit sideways / flexes if pushed (where it meets the dashboard). No biggie, however, I suspect perhaps something needs to be tightened (even though I would not take a chance with all the soft padding/panels etc..) Will address with the dealer.. The quality of the interior is a lot better than the German made Passat. I chose the Murano after months of research (Port injection engine, vs Direct Inj), virtually a nightmare with VW's (had extensive carbon issues with the Passat, hesitation for months; ended up taking the intake apart to clean the valves) which made me look for a vehicle without DI. I avg 23+mpg in 2 days of driving in heavy traffic(saw 33mpg on the highway back from the dealership), so fuel consumption should be about the same with the Passat once broken in (I averaged 27-28mpg on the VW). Plus I don't have to use Premium gas. I opted for the SL model without the Intelligent Cruise control, given some of the reviews on the net. The car is near perfect for me. I remember with the Passat, I experienced bucking/lurching on the DSG transmission from Day 1(once the car got hot on the highway); the CVT behaves a lot better, even in heavy traffic(past 2 days and the car is not even broken in yet). Not to mention the plastic panels on the Passat creaked like crazy until I pulled all panels apart and applied double sided tape. German quality my.. Overall I'm glad I purchased the Murano; I'm puzzled by the fact I don't see many more 2015/2016 Muranos on the road. INMO this is a far better package/more attractive than the current Highlander, Pilot or even the Subaru Outback(some of its direct competitors). Also somehow I was never a fan of the old Murano design ( I prefer the new design).

Have a new 2015 Nissan Murano. Has Intelligent cruise control. When overriding the cruise control to pass a car, sometimes the transmission slips, the engine RPM increases tremendously, the car slows and jerks, when you accelerate more the trans re engages, or when you turn the cruise control off the trans re-ingages. Dealer replaced the transmission, but had the same results. The factory rep said it was the intelligent cruise control, and could not be fixed.

My 2009 Murano was just flat out great! Reasonably comfortable, quiet ride and lots of interior room. The 1st 2015 I bought was good, but Nissan took away a lot of things that were standard on the 09, like adjustable lumbar support, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, 6 CD player, cargo net, deep door pockets, rear storage pockets in the back seat area etc. I was disappointed. Quality control at the new factory just sucks. I had to have a new transmission put in due to slippage and shuddering when it shifted. The car was totaled when I was rear-ended. My seat back broke at the time. My new 15 Murano has a grinding or high-frequency vibration in the steering wheel the dealer can't or won't address. It also doesn't ride as well as my last 2 Muranos. Lots of vibrations, rough idle, unktraceable noises etc. If they don't fix it I'll force them to take it back and buy a Volvo UPDATE, they played the lemon law avoidance game very well and refused to admit the transmission slipped. After I was almost broadsided at an intersection because the transmission wouldn't engage, I sold the piece of junk and bought a Kia Sorento, which turns out to be an even better car with much higher quality and many standard items Nissan would have charged a fortune for. After 20 years of Nissans, I was sorry to discover they do not value their customers and would rather rip one off and lose that customer than honor the warranty and keep him. they've become too short sighted. To date I've been able to dissuade 12 people from buying a Murano or other Nissan and will continue to do so.

I specifically chose the SL over the Platinum due to my experience with intelligent cruise control on my Infiniti MX35. It was so aggressive on the highway the first time it kicked in, I thought that the engine was dying. I was 100 yards away from the car in front of me and it was slowing me down! You could reduce its aggressiveness but you couldn't turn it off. There is a great deal to like about this car. I find the styling, inside and out to be refreshing. The interior reminds me of Infiniti's that I have had so they definitely moved things upscale. The seats are very comfortable, the car rides wonderfully, and I find the steering to be pretty precise. The car handles well for sitting so high. The surround camera and cross traffic alerts are worth their weight in gold. Given the difficulty in sensing where the front of the car is while parking, the ability to turn the surround cameras on when going forward slowly is a big help. Having had a 1st generation CVT on a Ford 500, the Murano's is a giant step forward. There is a slight bit of noise from it but not at all objectionable. I find the acceleration to be reasonably good. Having the next driving instruction from the Nav in the driver display is very useful, and the general timing of guidance and how it is provided works well. There have been issues with my experience with buying and using this car: - Nissan touts their NissanConnect smartphone integration with its 6 functions. I told my sales rep that smartphone integration for safe driving was a key concern of mine and he allowed me to believe that all of these functions were available at the SL trim level, as one would expect with a higher level trim. They are not! Cars with Nav ONLY have Google search available so, if like me, you want Pandora integration, go elsewhere or get a Murano without navigation! (By integration I mean being able to see the Pandora interface on the dash and use steering wheel controls to interact with it.) Compounding this, I was basically stonewalled at every level when trying to get an honest answer about when the other functions would be supplied. Whether I went to my salesman (still waiting for him to get back to me), Nissan national customer service, or the office of the North American president, I got the same low-integrity, condescending answer: "We have no information at this time if or when the other functions will be available". Man up, already, and just say that you aren't going to do it! So now I am stuck with a car without Pandora integration, which virtually every other car brand has. - As my car was delivered to me, the three navigation settings that impact how it chooses routes were set so that it didn't want to use expressways / tollways / interstates. This fact, coupled with the imprecision of the navigation, had it telling me to make left turns off of a 65 mph expressway after I ignored its instructions and went onto the expressway. It thought I was on a road paralleling the expressway so it kept giving me unsafe instructions for where I actually was. After I had figured out two of the settings but was still having problems I called into the dealer. They had their "expert" get on the phone but he couldn't offer anything else. I did find the third setting and that was when I came to understand the lack of precision and why it was giving me unsafe instructions. The Nav tells me that I have arrived at my destination when I am 100 yards away! When you don't know where you are going in a world with a lack of house / building numbers displayed, 100 yards is a problem. My Garmin unit is far superior in its accuracy. - The Nav screen easily washes out from side window sun. - The two front doors vibrate when you close them. The two rear doors close with a satisfying and final thunk. With the two front doors the upper rear corner vibrates visibly. When we were on a trip and I had a spare bottle water in the door holder and would close the door, the it made quite a racket as the door vibrated and shook the water bottle around. When I asked the service rep at my selling dealer he basically responded that it would be too much effort to do anything about it. - I went into another dealer to look into establishing a relationship there. They did an oil change, which was a bit pricey ($53) for a 5W30 oil change, but they did help figure out that the reason the TPMS sensors in my new snow tires wouldn't register was because TireRack put the wrong ones in. When I got the replacements, I went back to have them do the sway. They said it would be 3.0 - 3.5 hours (!) and cost accordingly. Thinking that I had mis-heard or misunderstood, I asked how it could take 45 minutes a wheel to swap the sensors. His reply was that was what it takes. I declined to go forward and stopped by a Discount Tire on the way home. They did all for wheels in 40 minutes for $32. Have you noticed a theme about the Nissan organization?

I've only had the car a short time so I can't evaluate Value and Reliability. Performance isn't top notch, but I feel confident when driving on highway and it certainly keeps pace with ease. Braking is very good, handling is good for such a tall vehicle. Steering is good, not direct like a performance car, but confident. The 20"wheels certainly adds to a high quality ride. The inside is roomy and very comfortable. Controls and instruments are nicely laid out, easy to read and operate. The Platinum trim level I purchased is worth the price, giving you the looks, feel and options equal to higher priced luxury brands. I have another Nissan and had a expensive Germany import; the Nissan requires less maintenance at a reasonable cost - have you ever been billed $300.00 for an oil change and scheduled service?

Window sticker says 21 town/ 28 Highway.... yet to see any of that!! I DON't drive heavy footed, I drive 70% city/ 30% Hwy and at best get 17.6 in town and 21.8 on hwy. Very disappointing for sure. I was told by the dealership to give it 3000-5000 miles to break itself in and I would see better gas mileage. My neighbor that is a mechanic also said the same. I now have 900 miles on it so we will see! If I don't get better in the long run I will be so upset. The Manufactures should be held responsible and accountable for the numbers they place on the window stickers. Hyyundai had a class action suit and has to pay their car owners a refund. Every time their car owners get their oil changes they document the mileage and pay them like 2 cents per mile driven and cut them a check.. To bad they have to go through all that, but Nissan ought to take notice of that possibility ! If I would have known the real gas mileage I would be getting, I might have made a different brand selection. Other than that I love the car.. Smooth, responsive, and quiet. I put on the cross bars on my luggage rack and there is a terrific wind whistle that comes from them. Called service dept. and they said that was to be expected. So I will take them off till I need to put them on for long distance trips with my cargo carrier. Another negative would be it has some pretty significant blind spots in the rear side windows. Some one with a bad neck that doesn't turn well will find this a problem for sure. I'm trying to figure out a remedy for this. Cant speak to its reliability since I haven't owned it long enough!!

I have never written a review before on any website however I am so incredibly pleased I wanted to share my thoughts. I hope what I have to say helps you in your decision. I have had my 2015 Murano SL for a few weeks and I cant say enough about it. I actually came to this site and read the reviews and was not going to buy this car because of what people were saying about the gas mileage. I want you to know I have not seen it. I am getting 26 MPG. I had a Nissan Altima for 5 years and loved the car never a problem but I do drive a lot and the miles were getting high so it was time for a new car. I did a lot of research on which car I wanted to buy and looked at different brands. At the end of the day I decided to stay with Nissan because I had such good luck with my last car. My new purchase was between the Murano and the Maxima. They both have new styles and I love them both. I really wanted a smaller SUV vs. a car so that is why I leaned towards the Murano. OMG it is awesome!!!!. First the exterior is super stylish and boy do you get looks when you are driving this car. The interior is luxurious! The seats have memory foam in them and are very comfortable, the cabin is spacious, the car has every gadget you can think of and it is all at your finger tips. The cargo area in the back is plenty spacious even if you travel. The back seats recline as well a fold down. There are USB ports in the front and the back which is nice. You have memory seating for up to 2 people, you have auto start which is so nice in the winter time, the back hatch auto lifts, extra secret storage compartments in the cargo area, heated/cooled seats and the ride is so smooth. I looked at a lot of higher end cars, Lexus 350, ACURA MDX, RDX and BMW 3 and this car in my opinion out beats all of them in the interior. It matches all of the cars plus some. If I did have to say anything negative it is two very minor things. Cup holders in the front I wish one was a little bigger than the other and the visor I wish it had the extender, I can live without these because everything else is fabulous. This car is not cheap is it on the higher end, if you can afford it go with the Nissan Murano. You will not be disappointed. Good Luck with your purchase!

I have only had my Murano for a few weeks....I had a Rogue SV AWD that I generally liked, but dealership called me and was interested in buying it back for an upgrade, so I bought a Murano SV AWD. I have to say the few issues that bothered me about the Rogue (engine roughness and fuel economy & range) seem resolved in the Murano. I really like this vehicle so far, and am glad I bought it. Reliability is to early to evaluate, but I have owned several Nissans and have had very few significant problems with any of them, so I have a lot of confidence in this vehicle and don't expect issues. Interior - really nice, plush design. Nissan consistently seems to have some of the nicest interiors versus their competitors. The interior materials and design in the Murano, like in most Nissans I have driven, are outstanding and among the best out there. Driver's seat lumbar control is terrific and really gives strong lower back support. The front passenger seat has no lumbar control but is still comfortable and 4-way power in the SV trim. The interior feels much more upscale than in past versions of the Murano. Feels really BIG inside, as well. HUGE center console with nicely padded armrests. Well laid out dash and controls, clear gages, and the driver's display in the dash has lots of helpful information. In normal driving around town and at moderate speeds, cruises really quietly. Navigation system is useful, screen is huge (8") and the map displays speed limit on whichever road you're on, which is helpful in unfamiliar areas. There is a third 12V power outlet in the rear cargo area which is a nice feature. Exterior - I really like it, seems a bit lower but much longer and wider than the previous model. Fog lights are a nice touch, and lower trim levels are a tougher gray plastic that will probably hold up well to road debris, rocks, etc. and resist scratches better than a painted surface. Driving impression - very smooth and quiet at normal speeds; easy to steer and drive. Noticeably quieter than last-gem Murano. Power steering is pretty heavily assisted at lower speeds so the vehicle is easy to maneuver. Handles pretty well, better than my Rogue did - but probably not as well as its Mazda counterparts. Good handling and comfort/ride quality balance. Engine mates well to CVT and both are responsive. The CVT can be placed in manual mode and simulates a 7-speed conventional automatic, which is very cool. Engine is generally smooth and powerful, though can be a little rough under hard acceleration - but it's got enough power you usually won't feel the need to push it too hard. Engine noise is well isolated from the cabin. I have been really pleased with highway mileage.....I have driven several hundred miles and while results are mixed, on a recent trip I got 29.6 mpg after 177 highway miles, including a couple of stops at rest areas, with an average speed (according to the trip computer) of 64 mph. As long as there's not a lot of wind and the surface is level, engine RPM's can be as low as 1200-1300 in normal cruising, and almost always <1500. I got in the low 30's for mileage on several short trips at 55-60 mph. I did only get about 23 mpg on one stretch of about 100 miles driving into a lot of wind and rain, but guess that is to be expected. City mileage is nothing special and seems close to the claimed 21 mpg. AWD is excellent and this thing feels rock-solid and stable in the worse weather at freeway speeds. Gas tank is over 19 gallons so great highway range. Only negative, really, can be visibility. This thing has a high cowl and a funky-shaped hood with flares in it and it can be tough seeing what's directly in front of you at close range in dark conditions, and especially towards your front quarter panels. Headlights are OK but don't provide especially good projection in my opinion. There can be some significant blind spots to the rear and sides. The last-generation Murano was much better from a visibility standpoint. I test drove a car with the Around View monitor system, which is excellent. The car I bought does not have that and I believe you can only get it in the SL trim in the Murano, though it is offered in SV trim in the Rogue. Well worth the investment if you can afford it. BTW I LOVE the remote engine start (an extra button on the key fob/remote). Will come in handy this winter!

Basics: Purchased new late July 2015. Currently about 1,500 miles. PROS: beautiful exterior styling / extremely comfortable, squishy seats with a head read that doesn't bother me / flat folding cargo area that easily holds multiple wire dog crates (typically one medium and one large, with extra room for suitcases and additional containers, was also much appreciated picking up shelving) / 27-30 hwy mpg every time (best I ever got was 31.3 on mostly flat for about 50 miles), 27 without trying / 260 hp for hills and quick acceleration CONS: low city mpg (varies widely, depending on terrain and how much quick acceleration is required, usually 20-22, some spots much less) / white stitching on door handle (strangers with dirty hands will give me fits) / lack of gray option for interior (light colored dirt, salt, fuzz show too much on black, and the cream color was totally out because other people and pets are not careful--K & M quilted, wipe off cargo liner plus large beach towel, my first accessories worth every penny). Details... I read SUV reviews for six months, took test drives for two months. Read Edmunds, Motor Trend, Car Complaints, KBB, watched YouTube, etc. til my eyes were bugged out. Drove new and used, talked to sales reps, friends and family, about drove everybody crazy (including myself) about what to buy. (With my single woman, public school salary, I couldn't afford to mess this up.) My priorities were enough cargo space, sporty styling (couldn't stand the thought of a payment for something I really didn't enjoy seeing every day), flat folding seats, rear AC (so I can shut my corner down--I'm cold when others are warm), reliability (Nissan got good reviews from lots of people), horsepower for Branson and other Ozark hills, relatively? high mpg, comfortable seats (too used to my old Silverado, still have it and love it, too), attractive exterior color (pref metallic med blues/greens), head rests that don't cause a pain in the neck. (Hours on the computer at work, combined with my 5'4" height has been a problem in some cars.) $20-25,000. Obv, I went a couple thousand over. Well worth it as long as it stays relatively maintenance free. I would do it again in a heartbeat, even if I end up in the service department for minor upgrades considering that fact that nothing else out there totally met my top requirements. (I refused to look at them at first, because I thought they were too far out of my price range. Thank you TrueCar.com for your pricing guides, my guardian angel whoever he be, and the Nissan dealers of NW AR, MO, and Springfield, MO in particular.) A FEW of the SUVS I seriously considered... HR-V (lovely colors, esp 2014s, mommy mobile styling, couldn't live with lack of seat padding and hideous head rests)...RAV4 (older models possible brake issues, ok styling, good enough comfort, no rear AC)... FORRESTER (tilting head rests not found on any other midsize models, reliable, off road capable, good cargo area, boring styling)... EQUINOX (sorry to say this given my long history with reliable Chevy cars n trucks, cheap parts and service, but...waffle cloth would collect debri, no rear AC, all their SUVS look alike, no thanks)...KIA (Sportage, I think, another good car, too small), SANTE FE TURBO (great SUV, reliable, flashy interior w/ nice colors, HP for hills, almost bought one, no flat folding seats, metallic blue was almost black, exterior styling not as good, nor cargo dimensions as suitable for the comfort and safety of my furballs). Complainers on mpg and steering must've gotten some freakish lemon or driving like a crazy person. In average driving conditions, I get 22 and 27 without even trying, combined last month was 25.3 Watching the mpg scale is a game I play out shopping or on a trip. I am VERY happy with the 30 mpg I get every time if I accelerate gradually and stay 60-75 mph. (Typical is 29. Cruise control additional 1 mpg lost.) FWD cheaper long term in multiple ways. The somewhat loosing steering is a reality. However, I handle this car with no problems. I drove it home in a panic after longer day than expected, leaving restaurant and discovering a storm front. The hands free bluetooth for checking conditions with various people on the drive back from Springfield was a huge help. I barely stayed ahead of a storm with 50 mpg wind gusts. By the time I got home, winds knocking over trees, power out. Rain, sticks, gravel, limbs flying as I pulled into the driveway. Thirty foot limb down in backyard as I manually pulled up the garage door and checked for scratches. (None, thank God.) Advice for the "challenged" individual not to be able to keep his Murano between the lines in high winds--go to driving school. Transmission--smooth and quiet. Enjoying that, cool int and ext night lights, front and console display, storage pockets, much room in wheel well and multiple options for hiding valuables. Expect to be this happy years down the road.

Hi everyone. Bought my 2015 Murano just over 5 mths ago and already had my transmission replaced. Four days after driving it off the lot I knew something was wrong. Took it back to the dealer twice and was told 'it's just the tires settling in'. After the the car started to shudder even more when I accelerated and I felt like I was constantly driving on cobblestones, I took it back a third time and was told my transmission needed to be replaced...at just 3k miles! It's now been a month since it was replaced and my car is already behaving like the transmission was never replaced. The rpm's suddenly increase even though my speed is constant, the car accelerates unexpectedly, and I feel very unsafe driving it, especially when my 4yo son is in the car. Not happy with this purchase. I don't think getting the trasmission replaced again is going to help.

Bought the 2015 redesigned Murano Platinum AWD for my wife in March 2015 - this is our first Nissan. She loves it and so do I. Approximately 10k miles already and averaging around 23mpg - 50/50 city/highway driving thus far. The exterior definitely design gets noticed. People of all ages have asked us about it - we are in our late 50's - and we had had little kids to 80 year olds ask us about it - with one child (6 yrs old?) telling my wife it was the coolest car he had seen. :-). The ride and cabin space is very comfortable and quiet for 4 adults (5 is the seating capacity & 3 adults do fit in back fine, but it is really comfortable with 2 with the fold down center arm rest). Very nice sound system and all of the creature comforts you can desire - heated and cooled seats, dual climates, Bluetooth, etc. When I read other reviews of the Murano's short comings, they usually are comparing it to a vehicle that runs $15,000-$20,000 more (at least in some cases) and to me that is a different category/class. The headlights and parking assist and other safety issues are first rate and make driving and parking a cinche - and were some of the best on the market. The 6 cylinder engine w/CVT offers plenty of get up and go - with the CVT offering a very smooth acceleration. The interior boasts a look (Platinum model) that rivals the look of $60,000 SUVs at a significantly reduced price. We researched and looked at (and drove) several mid-sized SUVs and felt this was as nice as many higher priced ones and better equipped than most in the same price category. Overall, we felt it was the Best Buy for the money - and still do.

I bought my Murano in March 2015. I was in market for SUV. Researched several options and ended up with Murano. No issues so far. Doesn't like the acceleration. Stability seems to be poor in cornering. Braking is optimal. Great interior. Main drawback is city Mileage. I end up in 14-16 in City but satisfactory highway mileage. I don't know how reliable is the CVT (This is my first CVT)

Upgrading from 2011 Murano LE to 2015 Not For Me!

Have owned a 2011 Murano LE since new and have really enjoyed the car. Went out today planning to replace it with anew 2015 Murano which would be called the "Platinum" style. Two issues with the 2011 have bothered us but felt they would be overcome by new designs. My wife is short (5'1") and the passenger seat sits too low for her comfort and the 2011 seat is not adjustable up and down. The other problem is road noise which takes us to nearly shouting for a conversation at Interstate highway speeds. We found today in test driving that one, Nissan does not offer an 8-way passenger seat period, while competitors Acura, Lexus, VW Taureg, and even Lincoln include them as standard. Road noise has been very much improved however. Another disappointment was that Nissan has abandoned rain-sensing Automatic windshield wipers which I depend on. Here again nearly every competitor has them at least as an option if not standard. Many aspects of the Murano for 2015 are amazing especially the electronics, but not enough to overcome these disappointments. I point these factors out not to diminish the great cars Nissan builds but to expose some of the features missing that mean more to me than items like electric rear seat operators.
