My ford escape has been nothing but a pain. The mpg is horrible! I'm getting 19.9 while the expected is 24. The car shifts at very weird times. The interior design is good. I am trading it in for a rav4 or a rouge. I would not recommend buying the escape!

This Escape is a fun vehicle to drive. It Handles great on twisting and winding roads. Almost as much fun to drive as a sports car. The steering input is responsive. The main complaints are a lack of storage space in the front passenger compartment and disappointing gas mileage. There are few storage cubicles in the console / center stack for cell phones, eye glasses etc. The storage compartment in the console is very small. Gas mileage is not all that great. We get 21-22 in town and 26-29 on the highway depending on traffic and terrine. The EPA figures on with window sticker are pure fiction. Tiny engines with turbo chargers do not give all that great acceleration nor do they give great gas mileage. You have to stay "boost" all the time to get any decent kind of performance. When you're in boost you can forget about gas mileage. My 300 HP V-6 Mustang gets about the same mileage in town as the 1.6L engine in this Escape and gets anywhere from 29 to 31 on the highway. The old adage that there is no replacement for displacement is so true. The vehicle has been very reliable. We've had zero problems since owning it. The My Ford Touch system has never given us any problems and is not that difficult to use. I don't understand all of the complaints about it. Overall, it has been pleasant vehicle to live with on a daily basis. I would buy another only this time I would go for the 2.0 liter engine instead of 1.5 which is standard in the upper trim levels of the 2017 model.

The electronics and owner's manual are a nightmare.... everything is hard to understand. now when I push the menu button to utilise my MP3 player it switches from insync to radio and of course you cannot find anything that you are looking for in the owner's manual, It's a mess and distracting and dangerous because you are always taking your eyes off the road just to adjust a stupid Radio......

Drove several SUV's before deciding on the Escape. Traded in a thirsty full size SUV for better mileage and I am not disappointed. Drove the 1.6 and the 2.0 and settled on the 2.0. Why was this not a model option on this site? I had to check 1.6 for it to take my review. The dated non-turbo 2.5 was not even available at my dealer. I understand it is mainly used in low cost fleet cars. Car is quiet, powerful and well-built. Only been to the dealer for oil changes, so far. Some of the controls are a little confusing. The arm rests are too small for a big guy like me, but the seats are fine. The only problem has been the low tire pressure indicator... It has come on a couple of times and there was no problem. It re-set itself. Going to have the dealer check it at the next service.

Great choice!

First off, I have the 2.0 engine but it didn't list that as a choice when starting the review. I bought this car when it was a year old with about 22K miles and paid $10,000 less than the sticker price. So far it is everything I could have hoped for. Plenty of very comfortable room inside for me and my dogs, terrific ride and I'm averaging a between 24-25 MPG combined. Yes, like everyone else I had some issues with the SYNC system but once I figured out what it required from me it's been trouble-free. You can't force it to work a certain way just because you want it to. I'm looking forward to driving it in the snow and expect I won't be disappointed.

Have had the windshield checked out and was told this is because of the poor design. The whistle inside the vehicle is almost deafening at times. Very dissatisfied with this problem with the ford escape.

This car is performance wise more than I expected. The 4 cyl eco-boost makes this car as zippy as anyone could want without the loss of mpg. I was afraid anything less than a 6 cyl was going to be a dog. It's quiet, it's comfortable and best of all thanks to the excellent, caring sales staff at Fallon Auto Mall, I was afforded the chance to buy "almost new" and save several thousand by buying a 2015. I am very greatful.

I looked @ Nissan, Hyundai, & Ford for a safe, reliable, affordable & comfortable ride. Though the Escape was not the winner by a huge margin, it was my final choice. The safety rating, ease of use, quality feel, reliability and overall good looks; interior & exterior made this a winner for me. My Escape has 35000 miles with no issues.

I shopped Cherokee, Terrrain and Escape. Out of the 3, this was the SUV for me hands down. It meets all my needs and functions well as transportation and utility vehicle. Cargo room is plenty for my needs especially when the rear seats are folded. The instrumentation and technology is easy to use and clear to read. Learning Sync-ese was a breeze. I like having control of everything at my fingertips. The heated front leather seats were a warm welcome in the winter. The hands free lift gate using only a swipe of my foot has been a real pleasure. This SUV is deceiving with the 2.0 Ecoboost. No one expects to see an SUV move like it's on fire. This little girl books when the turbo kicks in. My combined gas mileage is around 25mpg. Not the greatest, but not the worst. I love the amount of clear view I have with all the glass. As others have said, my only tiny gripe is the lack of storage bins. I expected there to be more in an SUV like I have had in others, but it certainly wasn't a deal breaker. I've had this SUV 8 months and have no complaints. Zero problems to date. I would definitely buy another.

I lost almost $8000 with this purchase.

My Ford Escape has been nothing but problems. Problems ranging from build quality issues, door alignment issues, rust issues, coolant consumption issues, and most seriously transmission banging issues. Buyers beware! I am only speaking up because the consumers need a voice to not purchase the new generation of Ford Escapes. These cars are poorly built, bad handling, and downright dangerous on the road. Mine used to bang and clunk into gear and accelerate rapidly on its own, ford claims everything is normal, that way they don't need to fix it under warrantee. Finally, I took a big loss in depreciation and traded my 2015 Escape for a 2014 Dodge Charger. It was the best move I could have made. I sleep better at night knowing that this car will last for the length of the loan. Good luck to all you new car buyers, but please, please do not buy this Escape. It's a pile and you will loose a lot of money with it.

Ford Manyfacturing has gone down and it shows in the 2015 Ford Escape. For the second time in a month and a half, my car is in the shop, dead. It won't start, it won't do anything. It's a brick. And no doubt the dealership will find the issue/problem but it won't find the cause of the issue/problem. So I will be back there again. Getting to use a rental. Which means I get to drive something others an a ford if I so choose. I bought my car from a horrible dealer in HANFORD California - Keller Williams Ford. They took advantage of our need for a car and screwed us out of a truck. Eric Huff was our salesman. The WORST car dealership in the world! My Escape isn't just a car, it's where I drove my family across the country while my husband was deployed. It's where my oldest and I tease about who has control of the radio. It's what I drive to go pick up my kids after school. What we drive to visit my family.. And my husbands. It's more than a car. My kids eat, sleep and play in it. My puppy snuggles between them comfortably. It a second home to us. And it's unsafe. It's not dependable and it's not what I thought Ford produced. But from the day I drove it off the lot? I've had problems. Things breaking off. Pieces and handles and locks breaking. Trunk got stuck a few times. Once in the pooring rain. It all adds up. And now I'm without a car. You need to make sure this doesn't happen to others! I hear the 2016 Escapes are having the same issues. You pop the cars out and let kids put them together like Legos. And now? The consumer is the one that suffers from your pathetic manufacturing and engineering. So do I suggest or recommend the Ford Escape? NO. Just NO. It's not safe. I actually don't trust any Ford car.. But do NOT get he Escape. Be smart. Smarter than Ford and got for a reliable, safe car. The Escape is not it.

I have a 2015 Titanium 2.0L Turbo Escape. Since I have a 2013 Flex, I am used to the MySync/Ford electronics interface. Love the wide and clear view from the windshield. Ford has since improved the interface and controls. LOVE flexibility of the climate controls. Wish the rear seats were roomier, and that there were more storage compartments. The power is awesome for a 240 HP engine, and it warms up very quickly in the Midwest winters. Heated seats are a must in this climate. I have the 19" premium wheels, and I was originally worried how they would handle in the snow/sleet/ice. They are pretty good...awesome traction in both winter and rain precipitation. So far I have put 1,500 miles on it. Somewhat concerned that you have drive 65 MPH to get the advertised 30 MPG, but it handles nicely when you set the cruise at 80 MPH. Overall: Awesome car, very pleased with it.

All around good vehicle so far.

I bought the 2.0 AWD Titanium addition. This model is not included in the drop down box for the 2015 model year. I don't know why but whatever. Anyway, I bought this vehicle as opposed to other SUVs on the market mainly because it had the towing package. I am a big fan of Hondas as they have been very reliable for me but the styling of the new CR-V did not impress me. I have the same minor gripes as other people with lack of cubbies up front and that the back only fits my golf clubs diagonally and just barely. Also the gas tank is way undersized. Just recently filled up and trip computer claimed I had 362 miles to empty. Not the case, generally have to fill up around 300. Overall I have found the vehicle comfortable and the Sync system works great. Acceleration and handling seem very good. I think for the price of the Titanium trim, you should get the LED headlight accents/daytime running lights included in the trim level rather than having to pay additional. That's about it.

Drove a Camry for 12 years and 165,000 miles. Did nothing but change oil and tires. Giving it to my son for college graduation. Bought a loaded, 2015 Escape Titanium 2.0 4 wheel drive 2 months and 3,000 miles ago. Hoping have the same luck with this vehicle. Test drove Santa Fe, Rav 4, Terrain. Escape no question hotter look, hotter interior, and better drive. Way more pep than the others. I wanted a small SUV with decent gas milage. Miss the 30-32 I was getting with Camry but knew my milage would go down. Getting 25.1 average so far. Like the fact it is all wheel drive moving to 4 wheel drive when I need it. Looking very forward to see how it does this winter. Love the interior. Hands free Navigation, phone, stereo, climate. I have had no issues with voice commands. It let's you know what you can say, very easy to get comfortable with. Love never needing to take the keys out of my pocket. Love the key pad on door. I got the full length sun roof - LOVE IT. Never had one before. Heated seats, memory seats - LOVE IT. Also love using the foot to open back gate, that has come in handy many times. I know it is early but every time I get into it I look forward to driving it. So far so good! Now at 1 year and 15,000 miles. Still love it. Couple small rattles from time to time in the interior and at times the tight sport ride can be no fun with all the poor roads in Wisconsin but SUV still very much fun to drive. I really like the ford services you can voice activate, have used it a few times to help me find things. It suddenly went away on 1 year anniversary but it is only $60 a year which is a lot less than on-star. Love using the phone app to send address destinations to my car. That is very slick. Loved the drive last winter, no issues what so ever in the snow. Hate winter but looking forward to another year of no worries driving.

I bought this vehicle on New Years eve 2014 and at writing have 22,000 on it. I knew I was not buying a high end luxury car and don't try to pretend that it is one. Fuel economy is fair to good (25.3 combined over 22,000, I don't ever reset trip 1) and I am not disappointed although like everyone else I'd like a little more. The rear seats are of the "lay flat" design so they are not the most comfortable, that is a trade off in any SUV/CUV with lay-flat back seats. We seldom have back seat passengers and only for a short distance so its no problem. I have put several hundred miles at a time in it and I'm big guy @6' / 275, and find the front seat a bit on the firm side but still comfortable. I would like to have a slightly larger fuel tank even if only one or two gallons more. Overall this is a very good vehicle for the price. Its only been in the shop for its oil changes.

I used to get good MPG, 22 in city, 28 highway, ever since the so called recall for who knows what my MPG suck, 17-19 city, 22 highway and I am not a fast start, dime stop driver. What happened, who knows, took to dealer and their test says overall 22mpg, that SUCKS. I have 9000 miles on this car and why did it drop, well Ford claims it is not due to the recall, I disagree 100% as it happened after the update. Won't be buying another Ford, and this is my 2nd Escape, first one was a LEMON, had it 5 weeks and was in shop every week. Ford in my opinion is 100J% WRONG, I asked them to remove the update considering it can be done, it is a computer they do it to and they mouth off about some stupid government law saying they can't do it. So be careful if you expect to get good mileage, you will not. I cannot give high marks for anything because of poor miles per gallon after the recall. The information below is good except for zip code, will not allow me to enter mine and the miles, I have 8,800 miles UPDATE: July 12, 2016 car was totaled by a hit and run driver. As for safety, it is not highly rated but did not know that till I started shopping for a replacement car. Rated around 40ish out of 50. New car rated 1,2, and 3, all Subaru's I chose the Outback and not another Ford.

Leased a 2015 Escape SE 4WD 2.0 in August 2015 and have about 7100 miles. Got some extras that I didn't necessarily want but the dealership gave me a deal so I took it. Have the vista roof and wouldn't recommend it honestly; it barely tilts open and if you open it 100% instead of the standard opening, there is a terrible buffeting sound that travels throughout the inside of the car. I would not recommend the 2.0 because even though it moves quickly the MPG is quite poor and doesn't meet the EPA rating. Took a trip to upstate NY and barely got 29mpg. MyFord Touch works fine but does get slow for no reason sometimes or will drop the Bluetooth connection lately. The suspension now has what can best be described as a creaking/squeaking sound coming from the right rear. Only used to make the sound under 10mph now I've heard it up to 25mph. It shouldn't be creaking at 7000 miles. Some more observations: -Headlights work fine and I like that they automatically come on when the wipers are put to the low setting. Other observations: -Climate control system sometimes won't blow and stays very quiet until I shut it off and turn it on again -Power hatch has given me problems where it won't close or slams shut for some reason; it's been adjusted 2x & it still gives me problems -Engine turns over very quickly -Power reserve stays on even when the keys are out of the ignition as long as a door isn't opened -LED interior lights are nice and bright but are a pain to keep on by one door if another door is open. I feel it drives bigger than it really is and the mpg has been poor despite not driving hard. Glad it's a lease and I'm already anxiously waiting for it to end.

my escape is the 2015 se 4 wheel drive 2.0 liter 240 horse version with trailer tow pack. now that i have lived with this car for almost a year and 11,000 miles later i am quite happy in my choice. the power train really sets this vehicle apart from the rest. plenty of power for towing a trailer. (and i do on occasion) handles great even with 4 adults on board. i purchased this vehicle in feb and the 4 wheel drive works great better than the competition. like i said i am very happy with it for i did some research before the purchase. one of my purchasing points was ease of entry into the vehicle and this one was the best for me to enter. i replaced my ford super duty pickup with this vehicle. combined mileage is 25.4. highway is 30.5. heavy two axle uhaul trailer loaded is 17.5.

My employer purchased a fleet of escapes as patrol vehicles. Seats are garbage, shape of it hurts the lower back, can't sit like a normal human. Not enough space between door and center console to sit without my equipment on, let alone with a full rig. Feels like I'm sitting on concrete. Armrests are non existent. Need to have the window down in winter to have somewhere for my arm. Fuel economy? 8mpg. Had the car 3 months, spent half it's life being repaired. Stay away. Get a Toyota!

Bought a 2015 Escape S in Feb 2015. As of August 2015 it has 2500 miles on the ODO, sleeps in a covered garage safe from the elements. It has been to the dealership twice for safety recalls. While I appreciate that the manufacturer issued the safety recalls, I think that their quality control is lacking and could have avoided these recalls. Due to these recalls, I have lost 2 half days from work and had to spend money out of pocket for taxi to get back to the dealer (they offer one way shuttle). I purchased a new vehicle because I couldn't afford to be losing time off work, but its a lesson learnt. It is also amazing that a cargo cover is an option that doesn't come with a vehicle that's listed for $23,500. To ford's credit they had a representative call me to find out if the vehicle was working properly after the 2 dealer visits, but if they invest in quality control Vs resources for follow up calls, they would have prevented this review. This is my first experience with ford (I wanted to buy American) after being a customer of japanese manufacturers for 20+ years. I have to say that I am underwhelmed and wish I had stayed with a Japanese car. I'm in the process of investigating trading in this vehicle for another brand because of my experience so far.

Bought a 2015 escape in February in June started hearing a noise coming from the engine. The mechanics at dealership said it was fuel injector that ruined the piston. We had to have a new engine put in. We felt should buy it back because it was defective, Ford said no because it was a new engine being put in,this was not satisfactory to us.We had to buy another one. The dealership or Ford would not trade it out for another Escape so we had take a hit and pay another 3 thousand dollars plus pay the taxes again. We've have bought 12 cars from this dealership over the years and this is how we were treated and Ford didn't care either therefore we will not buy another Ford product!!!!!!!!

I would never buy one!

I have this for a company vehicle and it is by far the worst car as far as comfort, storage, and accessories that I have ever had to drive! Unfortunately I drive 40,000 miles per year so comfort is important. The front is cramped with no where to store personal belongings. The gas tank is small and requires frequent fill ups. The Chevy equinox is by far a better vehicle as far as comfort, accessories, gas mileage, and storage. Unfortunately the Ford was my only option.

i owned a 2013 escape fwd and my personal experience in the snow was horrible, but loved the car. So i got the 2015 se turbo all wheel drive Escape. car is basically the same. Here are the things i love; the style it looks awesome and everyone agrees, drives and handles great it really is one of the best handling vehicles if ever driven, the turbo is pretty cool too it really boosts the horse power and it isnt loud at all plus theres a little cool whistle from the exhaust just to remind you its a turbo. what i really like about this car is the 2013 i owned was trouble free @ 25,000 miles. One last note i love when this 2015 escape impresses me, the last time , well not last but 1 month ago i rest the trip computer and set cruise control at 51 mph and i was amazed it read 44.2 MPG,,, that right i said 44.2 miles per gallon and took a picture and would be happy to send it to anyone to back up my claim.. Hope this helps some one make a great decision,,Style , handling, confidence , 44.2 MPG

I LOVE my Escape, but. . . .

First let me say, I love my 2015 Ford Escape except for one tiny issue - I purchased the vehicle in Dec 2014 in less than two weeks the brakes began to scream when the vehicle is first started in the morning when backing out of garage. I have returned to dealer three times but the squeal continues. This is not a brake squeak it is a long shrill squeal to the point my neighbors tell me they hear me leaving every morning. Currently have less than 3300 miles and the dealer is pretty much telling me to like it or lump it they are not doing anything else. Needless to say I am not a very happy Ford owner right now. Furthermore, an internet search reveals mine is not the first Escape to do this.

Wife and I have had 3 Ford Escapes over the last 15 years, all have performed flawlessly. We decided it was time to trade in our 2010 4WD XLT. We wanted to upgrade to the Titanium 2.0 turbo. Wow, what a vehicle. Interior quality, fit and finish rivals some luxo utes costing thousands more. The 2.0 is quick and responsive. The infotainment system is fine with us. We are both in our upper 40's and we have no problem navigating. Test drive you won't be disappointed

Love it!

I looked at 2015 Mini, Jeep, BMW, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Honda, and Chevy and decided that I liked my 2013 Escape SE with 37,000 miles the best. Got an email from the Dealer that advertised a dynamite price. After some bartering on trade-in, I picked up the 2015 Escape SE with the convenience package and lowered my monthly payment. No problems at all with the 2013, its just that the deal was too good to pass up. For me, the only vehicle that was better than my 2013 Escape w/ 1.6 liter turbo was the 2015 Escape. Comfort, power, quality and economy just can't be beat for my needs. The 2015 has a number of improvements over the 2013, but they add up to a better vehicle.

1. @ 57K, mileage still sucks unless keep foot out of the turbo (unlikely in metro & expressways, high elev./hills/mts/etc.!). 2. Extended warranty pd for itself before 40K with major underhood computer prob. cured only after extensive trouble-shooting, INCLUDING putting eng. recorder "black box" in vehicle for 3 wks.! 'R/R of computer AND wiring harness finally solved it. 3. Design flaw causes ctr-rear "female" belt receptacle to get caught under seat & squash-damaged when seat's folded forward. 2X back for R/R. 4. Salesman emphasized "Reg. fuel," BUT after sale noted Owner Manual says 87 octane, w/ lower 85 causing 10% performance & mileage loss as eng computer auto-detunes to compensate. 5. "Sync" is still a pain in the ___!

I'm in love!

Loving my new Escape! Fun to drive after having 4 Toyota sedans in a row. Love sitting up high. As a single mom, with one young teenager, this small SUV is all we need! Love the quick speed, easy handling, etc.

Not sure why anyone would get the lower trim levels. For someone who wants the best bang for the buck dependably hauling kids, car seats, daiper bags and luggage across the state for a family vacation, the Forester, Rav 4 and CRV are the obvious choices. An Escape will do the job but it will be a bit more cramped and cost a little more. If you also want a combination of handling, power, interior materials, and tech options generally only available in a luxury brand without paying $10k for a hood badge, a loaded Escape is a a good option.

I love this car.

This car is really fun to drive! It handles great and the 2.0L motor has excellent acceleration. I live in Colorado and the crowd-race to the tunnel is effortless, from both sides. The interior creature comforts are better than I deserve and it is obvious that careful thought went into everything. I closed the deal on 2/28 which turns out to be a very good day to buy, I paid $1014 less than the Edmunds' estimate. My shopping advise would be to decide on the exact model, color, and features that you want then go to the Ford website and find dealers with that car in stock then start email conversations with their internet sales managers. You will be able to tell who is hungry.

Purchased an Escape SE a few weeks ago and have had problem with wind noise. The dealer states the problem is with outside mirror and A Pillar which is a Ford design flaw and is not correctable.

Love my new Escape

Purchased my new Ford Titanium Escape in January. Been driving it for over a month in winter conditions and love it. Visibility is better than my wife's Ford Edge, pep and acceleration is better than the Edge. Understand that the Edge does have more comfort for long drives, etc.(its a higher end vehicle). The FWD performs great on snow/ice. Ford Sync is great, use voice commands a lot. Only downside is to reach the Ford Sync controls, its a little stretch. Love having the sunroof along with the roof rack. Can't wait to cut loose in the summer in this vehicle.

LOVE IT!

I made the mistake of buying a 2015 Forester and owned for less than 30 days. Traded in on the Escape and have been VERY happy! The ride, comfort, technology and safety features on the Escape FAR surpass the Forester and all others in this class.
