I bought my 2015 Journey SE AWD in August of 2015...I have no idea what's with all the negative ratings...the only time I had to bring it in for other than routine maintenance was when I overfilled the gas tank which triggered a trouble code shortly after I bought it. I brought to a local dealership as I was out of town...they looked at it and reset the computer and then advised me not to "top it off" as I'm used to...no problem since then. I don't get what edmunds is saying about the poor handling and lack of power...mine tracks perfectly and holds corners very, very well at speed. The drivers seat could be a little better but after a 9 hour ride my back is fine so no complaints. My only gripe is that I didn't do enough research before picking this one...don't get me wrong...the car is a great buy...I just assumed it had the fold down front seat with storage and satellite radio as base equipment and found out too late that it didn't. I love the storage bins in the floors of the back seat as well as in the rear of the car. The car has great lines and is comfortably roomy...but I must say the radio in it leaves much to be desired and it's retail value drops like a rock so be prepared to either be in it for a while or have cash to put down for a trade. I would highly recommend getting vent guards installed because what the wipers push off the windshield will come right in through a cracked drivers side window. All in all I would say this has been a very reliable vehicle through it's first 24,000 miles and am not expecting any problems anytime soon. They make it sound like it's a rolling piece of junk compared to others that they drool over...but I'm here to tell you that from my experience it's simply not true. I also occasionally tow a 5 x 10 trailer with this which the others can't do effectively. To sum it all up it's a great car with more storage and passenger capacity than others in it's class, the V-6 with AWD is comfortable, predictable, and provides more than adequate power for passing and/or onramp acceleration...(it will surprise you how fast it can get going from a dead stop), and it's brakes have performed well as well as what I would term as exceptional handling...(I live in the hills of TN and navigate twisty/windy roads every day at about 45-50 mph with complete confidence)...so I have no idea what they're talking about when they say it has excessive body roll, this isn't a sports car and I've owned a few suv's in my time. It has room for improvements...but most of them are available in different models or options, whether stand alone or packages. I plan on buying another one within the next year and if you stick with what my next one will have, V-6 AWD, and be either the Crossroad Plus or R/T models with the premium sound, navigation, and back up camera, as well as the fold flat front seat. I am very happy with the vehicle to this point with my only gripe being my own fault...get the options that you want up front, and DO NOT get the 4 cylinder engine...It's not up to the task and not available in AWD for that reason...if they don't have it in stock then either have them find one and bring it in, find another dealer who does, or if you have the time have it built for you, and then put the vent deflectors on it. From there expect to have a great ride that can take you most anywhere at anytime comfortably, economically, and safely.

Great at first, but within a nightmare ensued

I bought a 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad in August 2015. By August 29, 2016 it has been worked on six different times. We have had to have the stereo system/Sirius XM replaced twice. A few times the SUV would not start and when it did start the display lights would not come on. The check engine light has popped on so many times I have lost count and when we went to go get it checked out it mysteriously goes away. Most of the time when the check engine light comes on it is the fuel cap sensor. We shut it very tight but the mechanic at the dealership says he sees it often with the Journeys and all we have to do is go to him to turn it off. That is very inconvenient being a military family and moving soon. Today, on 8/29/16 the code that popped up says the the crank angle sensor has an issue, with it not wanting to turn on lately that makes a lot of sense. The inside is what drew us in. The sleek outside and the comfortable inside with Bluetooth, XM, and A/C throughout the car it was an awesome buy, or so we thought. We traded our 2013 Honda Odyssey in and it was the worst mistake we made. We are now looking into getting a different car only to realize the trade-in value plummeted so quickly and although the dealership agrees we have had numerous problems for a new car, they refuse to do anything about it except keep giving us the run around about why it has so many issues.

The interior was interesting on first glance, like a space shuttle of sorts, with odd buttons and cool features. I had high expectations for this car, upon further inspection it was your average, cheap, plastic dodge. The display was cool, however it lacked common sense. It was hard to navigate through the options, and had a very messy set up. As for the drivetrain, It was absolutely gutless, it had weak acceleration and the transmission kept making odd noises. This car had only 500 miles on it. The traction controll serves no purpose, as it was near impossible to lose traction in the first place. The sound system was by far the highlight of this car, great bass and very clear for a stock system. Needless to say, I will never own one. This car is ideal for moms who like being late to soccer practice.

Front seats stiff and not very comfortable, A-pillar blocks a lot of side view traffic. Large blind spots, mirrors not big enough, Rear seat headrests block view from rear window. Car tends to pull in one direction , doesn't seem to steer straight. Transmission is poor, takes for ever for the V6 to get up to highway speeds. Engine deserves something better than the current transmission. Cheap looking plastics inside, they crack or break. Windows seem to have a lot of noise at highway speeds. Could use better tires and better suspension too. I have had 5 of these as company vehicles since 2009. Overall design is OK but can't understand why Fiat can't fix these same old issues.

I bought my Dodge Journey Crossroads brand new in April 2015, I was so disappointed that it did not come with navigation , but did come with a big 8" screen and hands free calling . The radio is something cheap and not a Bose or Infinity. I would have also liked to have seen it come with a sunroof, this car offers nothing really for a $35,000 price tag !!!! NO WOW factor at all. I did buy the 4 cyl model which was a Big mistake as it has NO power and takes forever to get up a hill and a ton of gas to get up to speed. I`m waiting for the time when I can trade this Crossroad in as I will do it with a Smile on my face as I will Never buy another one again !!!!!!!

Diappointed gear whine/whistle noise at 65-70 mph. Like an old schoolbus. Have driven rentals before without this noise. Maybe just the late 2015's? Switched supplier? Would have otherwise been great car. Update: got a case number from Chrysler, turns out it was bad transfer gears which they replaced under warranty. Sooo much better. Thank you All Star Dodge. I should have bought it from your instead of Royal Gate.

I love this car. I am a life long GM guy and this puts the Chevy Equinox to shame. The car size is just right, not too big, not too small. This car is fantastic in the Winter. I love the auto heated seats and steering wheel, also the awd. The seats are very comfortable, the radio nav screen is nice and big. The rear air and heat are awsome along with the 3rd row. The 1 big thing it needs is daytime running lites for extra safety.

I bought my car in july 4th abd since then have taken it to the dodge place twice for parts on my transmission failing. It has less than 2000 miles on it and i bought it with 3 miles in it. This is the biggest garbage i have ever bought from dodge. Should have kept my caliber

We purchased a 2015 Dodge Journey with only 13 miles in less than 24hrs the vehicle shut down on us 3x it has been in for service 3x with the problem happening more than 10x even while on the highway with my children in the vehicle. The dealership refused to trade it out!! Even if we were within our 30day warranty 2,500 miles warranty period!!! I would NOT recommend this vehicle to anyone!!!! Now there is 4 other Dodge journey in for service for the same problem as mine!!! So discussed with the service at Dodge Larry H. Miller in Avondale, AZ.

Recently rented a 2015 Journey LTD with V-6 for a 10 day vacation to the Sierra Nevada area of California; Sequoia/Yosemite/Tahoe. Traveled one-half of the trip on inter-state or four-lane highways and the other on winding mountain roads with 35 MPH speed limits and grades of 6 to 12%. In total, we traveled 1,301 miles and averaged 21.02 MPG. The car was slightly over-powered on the freeway and slightly under-powered in the mountains; no complaints. Shifting was smooth and concise. The seating was very comfortable. Handling was better than expected; almost a good as a sedan. Overall, pleasantly surprised. I drive a Toyota now, and would seriously considered - depending upon the reliability rating.

Went to the dealer to buy a Jeep Cherokee and test drove three versions, then tested the Journey. The Jeeps were a hard ride and costlier compared to the Journey. There wasnt much difference in mpg with the Jeep Cherokees and the Journey. The ride is smooth, the seats are comfortable and it feels like a solid SUV. The R/T is loaded with plenty of technology, storage, room between the rows and 19 inch tires. The lease was more affordable with better incentices than the Jeep Cherokees. So far, the gas mileage is better that the 19 city/25 highway as stated in the sticker. It has the pickup necessary to get you out of a bad situation, for a vehicle of its size. We all want better mpg, but this is a medium sized SUV and you know the mpg will not match a smaller car. No sure why Edmunds is so hard on this SUV, as it is an enjoyable ride and a good value for the money. I don't regret this lease and actually pleaseantly suprised I picked it over the Jeep Cherokee. I plan to enjoy it for the next 36 months lease and turn it in at that time for another SUV.

We've been on vacation september last in Orlando, where we rented a Journey SXT, being a VW Jetta owner I was a litlle worried about the car's size. We liked so much that returning to Brazil we decided to invest some $$ in a RT JOURNEY V6. Here you also have the Fiat Freemont, that is the fruit of the joint venture of Dodge and Fiat, although they only sell the four cilinder engine. I test drove it and it's awfull!! In the othe hand Journey has been an excelent car, strong as hell, confortable as heaven and beautiful as our super model Gisele Bundchen :-)

The vehicle is amazing! We were choosing between this, a Dodge Charger R/T and a Durango Limited. We loved them all so much, but we went with the journey because it was the middle size (not to big or not to small for our family) It has amazing options, plenty of room, nice features, nice look, and so much more. It looks sporty but yet nice at the same time. It is AMAZING! My sister in law has a Ford Expedition, and my other one has and Acura MDX, and they are both jealous. Everyone loves it!

I recently purchased a 2015 Journey Crossroad AWD 6cyl. I was interested in an SUV that also featured the AWD ability as I live in an area with frequent snow fall. I was initially impressed with the response and ability of the vehicle to handle minor snow conditions, 3 inches or less. However, during a recent snowfall where 6 inches of snow fell in a relatively short period of time, the vehicle turn out to be less than sufficient. The combination of AWD, Electronic Stability, and Braking brought the car to an almost standstill. I had to get hard on the gas to make any progress, and when I switched off stability control, the tires just spun, first front then back and vice versa, terrible.

Our recent purchase was after much research. I admit being a Mopar fan, I lean towards Dodge but try to keep an objective outlook. With just 1000 miles, the 3.6L, V6 AWD is giving 20-21 MPG around town here which is a pleasant surprise. The average MPG bar display keeps me conscientious of my driving habits. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of room for my 6' frame. I like the size of the Crossroad with the 3rd row seating, the storage, the adjustable telescoping steering column and front and rear climate controls as well as the key-less entry and starting. The entertainment and sound system other controls are easily accessible and I find them intuitive to operate.

Just check it out for yourself...a pleasant surprise

We went into 3-row crossover shopping with the Journey not on the list, and ended up liking it so much we special ordered! We test drove the Hyundai Santa Fe, Buick Enclave, Mazda Cx9, and Nissan Pathfinder, but we really liked the packaging of the Journey a lot better. We got a Crossroad model, FWD, with the V6, and I would recommend it. What sold us on the Journey was simply how much better the interior was packaged for us. It's got plenty of room without being as big as some others. The seats are very comfortable and there is storage everywhere. Plus, we got the integrated booster seats, and they are so well-designed it is amazing to me they aren't available on other SUVs.

Very happy

What is Edmunds on? I guess if it's not Toyota or Honda they have nothing nice to say. I've had it for a month now with almost 1500 miles on it and I love it. I do have the 6 cyl and find the go to be more than adequate. No issues with acceleration or braking in the least. Handling is excellent and responsive. I love this car. Great size, great price, great features. I currently have ZERO complaints on this car. With mixed driving that leans a bit more towards city, I'm easily getting 20 MPG and I'm a fairly aggressive driver. (Seriously, I have enjoyed the heck out of the 6 cyl in this car) I suspect a nice MPG on longer trips.

You won't find a better car for the money!

Okay... I'm all about being fair in life... And Edmunds review of this car is WAY off... I've owned a 2012 Dodge journey for going on 3 years now. And to date.. I have not regretted my purchase once.. That's not to say there are not things I would change about the car. But for them to say the 3.6 six in this car is under powered?.. Is just plain b.s.. And I have the 2012(283hp).. The 2015 has gotten a boost to 295hp. Ok.. This is not a race car.. And I don't treat it as such. But I am being honest here when I say I have on more than one occasion got on it at a red light and left other(some far sportier) cars in my dust... And it was not for lack of them trying. This car MOVES!!!

It was unfortunate that I read the reviews after I purchased the vehicle. All the negative reviews regarding the 4-cylinder model are true. The salesman said they improved the 4-cylinder engine since the days I owned a PT Cruiser with the same engine. The PT ran great, but then add on the extra weight of the Journey and then you have problems, slow, slow slow. It seems it's on overdrive every time you accelerate. The price was right, the looks are OK for the price, but open the hood, everything looks like it's plastic, and Holy Cow, check out the location of the battery. I got what I paid for, I went cheap and cheap is what I got.

I've had the Journey for a couple weeks now and the initial quality and impression I have is extremely positive. Having a family of 4, I find that it's the right size. Big enough of the kids and our stuff, but not too large. Right selection of features, quality and performance also make it a winner. While fuel mileage gets dinged by Edmunds, I find that it's been better than expected. And considering the 6 cylinder engine and the fact that this isn't a tiny vehicle, I'm satisfied with what I get. Plenty of storage and materials that make you say "wait, this is a Dodge!?". I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

After much consideration I went with the Journey SXT FWD with v6/6 speed transaxle. Others considered: Hyundai Santa Fe: Almost 6K more in cost with a rebate of only 1K. Not 6K better in my opinion. Jeep Cherokee: Rougher ride, also quite a bit more costly but better incentives. Could be a better choice if off-road capability is your priority. You need to get past those ugly slit headlights though. Ford Escape: Smaller and more pricey, lower incentives. I was lost with all the buttons and levers on the steering wheel. The touchscreen display if complicated and difficult to navigate. Plus my wife didn't care for it. I read the Journey review on Edmunds and don't 100% agree with it. Update: After owning the Journey for about 1.5 years I still feel about the same. It's very versatile, rides good, has plenty of power & storage. I agree that the six speed transaxle could be a little more responsive when downshifting is needed. I use the auto stick a lot when descending mountain grades ( I live at about 5600' elevation in the spring & summer months) to help decelerating so I can stay off the brakes. I haven't seen the need for it when ascending though, the transaxle is responsive enough even though you may feel the need to throttle it a little harder from time to time to promote a downshift. It's a minor quirk. It's been in the service bay only once besides regular maintenance for a recall on the antilock brake harness. The fuel mileage isn't as good as some of the competitors, but that wasn't a big factor for me. I knew going in that the Journey is larger and heavier than most of the competition (it's almost as large as my older Durango). Update on 10/27/2016: Mileage is now 21887. I still feel about the same as my above rating with one difference. The Kumho Solus KH16 tires are wearing out quickly. The wear is especially bad on the outer edges of the tires. I thought it was due to the alignment but that isn't the case. Evidently I'm not the only person to have this problem since I've read other complaints about this same issue. Supposedly Kumho builds these tires especially for Dodge and they use a different rubber blend than they do on the standard Solus that you can buy at tire stores. It's reported that the blend is softer to produce a quieter ride. I don't know if that is the case or not, but I'll replace them with a different brand when needed. For now it seems that if I run them at a higher pressure (40psi as opposed to 36psi recommended) it has helped.

We ordered my wife's 2015 Dodge Journey Limited on July 4, 2014. She picked out ALL the "GOODIES" including the White Tri-Coat paint for an extra $500. Along with the White Pearl Leather interior the car is just STUNNING to look at for sure! We also had 2 thin black stripes PAINTED down the sides and also around the back..BEAUTIFUL!! We do MISS the Power REAR Hatch Opening like we had on our Town and Country Limited Van and ALSO MISS the Driver's Front Seat Power setting for 2 drivers! That's really the only 2 things I WISH they would have OFFERED with our Limited Journey. We picked up my wife's 2015 Journey on Aug. 22, 2014 and we both LOVE it!!

UPDATE ON PROBLEMS!!!!! Transmission for some reason ALWAYS LEAKED! After 5 trips to the Dealer they found out the transmission had NO SEALS INSTALLED during manufacturing! What a MESS on the Painted Garage Floor! SUN-ROOF........WOW....talk about getting a BATH going through a car wash!! After 4 trips they FINALLY put a NEW WINDOW seal in to STOP the LEAKING SUN-Roof!! NEW PROBLEM.....GPS in the radio QUIT working after they installed a RECALL UPDATE to the RADIO! Now they have to ORDER a COMPLETE RADIO as some of the 8.4" Screens had PROBLEMS! Our's worked GREAT BEFORE they TOUCHED IT!! We willbe checking out the New Pacifica when it comes out later this year. We still LOVE our Journey Limited, but so-so many PROBLEMS and SO-SO many trips back and forth to Galeana in Fort Myers! Dodge should give us a free tank of gas and a dinner for all the times we've been there for SERVICE PROBLEMS!!
