I had a the lower end front wheel drive version. It had brake problems, and heard noises from what would be the master cylinder area. The car was like driving a bathtub on wheels, all over the place. The seats were uncomfortable, and I'm a big guy, but the comfort wasn't there. And really, while a big car, it wasn't at all worth it for the money they charge for it. It felt like I was driving my 1975 pacer, trying to keep it in a straight line. The AC was okay, the radio was okay. The dash controls were okay. But really, I couldn't wait to turn it in.

UPDATE: November 16, 2016 I've taken the Traverse on a number of long-distance trips since I bought it in February, and I am very happy with its comfort and smooth ride. I continue to get 19 miles to the gallon city, and 21 on the highway. I bought a utility trailer to pull behind it on rare occasions. Again, the Traverse pulls just fine: on the highway, uphill and on level streets. Since I don't have the towing package, I have to keep the extra haul weight to around 2000 pounds. But that's OK with me since the weight of the trailer and any stuff I haul never come close to that maximum. Had I done a little more research at the time I bought the Traverse, I would have spent the extra money for the tow package; and it wasn't that expensive either. To add a tow package now would be impractical according to the sources I have consulted, and very expensive. I have also added a very versatile, fold-up, hitch cargo carrier for hauling smaller items that don't fit comfortably in the cabin. This has actually been a workhorse piece of everyday equipment. Rather than put the groceries inside the vehicle, I employ the cargo carrier. The problem with having a carrier attached to the trailer hitch is that it significantly blocks the backup camera view when in the fold-up position. And anytime you have something mounted that close to the rear bumper, it deactivates the Park Assist "radar." * * * ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've owned the Traverse for three months now, and I am even more impressed than the day I drove it off the lot. It's comfortable for my 6'4" height, carries all the cargo I could want to carry, it handles well on the road and it gets relatively good gas mileage for its weight. Here is the one annoying thing I've discovered about the vehicle, a think which I have learned to adjust for: The rearview mirror seems to sit low on the windshield for someone as tall as me. Because of that, when I am stopped at a four-way intersection and I look to my right to ensure no other traffic is about to cross, I have to deliberately duck my head a little to be certain that no vehicles or pedestrians are hidden by the rearview mirror. This has happened to me on several occasions. The mirror takes up so much real estate and is so low that it blocks a considerable part of my vision in that direction. But luckily I always take a second glance before starting into the intersection, and that's when I spot the danger. I thought this was interesting because I used to drive a 2009 Traverse at work several years ago, and I don't recall this issue. The 2015 version of the Traverse has a lot of hi-tech electronics onboard that make for a very convenient driving experience. You can read the specs for yourself, but one you won't find anywhere is the fact that there is a battery sensor that will chime and send a notification to the instrument cluster telling you when the battery is approaching a low charge state. This feature has already saved me once.

I wrote a review shortly after starting my lease, and now after 20K miles I am even more impressed. I have been researching what to get next after this lease is up and cannot find anything I like better, for the price. I was really worried about GM quality when I started the lease and decided to do a lease as a "try-it-before-I-buy-it" approach. I have had only 2 minor issues: 1, a piece of trim came loose on the rear door and I only had to push it back on its clips; 2, a light by the license plate had the retaining clip break and was an easy fix by the dealership. I agree with some reviews that the infotainment can be touchy. That and the gas mileage would be my biggest gripes. The infotainment has trouble connecting to my iphone 6 at times, so I sometimes have to use the auxiliary headphone cord, but this hasn't been a huge deal. I really wish the gas mileage was better. I have an AWD which is rated at 16/23mpg. I am averaging 16.8mpg driving in a rural setting. This is better than my previous Suburban which was averaging 14.2mpg. The AWD system worked wonderfully this past winter, paired with Blizzak snow tires. The car feels very stable and handles well in snow and ice. Suggested improvements: 1. Headrests in the middle-position seats!! For such an important safety item I cannot believe Chevy cannot figure this out. The Japanese and Dodge seem to have this figured out. Right now I have children in booster seats so it isn't a huge issue yet, but come on Chevy, give me head rests for every seat! 2. Diesel motor!!! 3. Lose the low air dam to improve my ground clearance.

As an astute, savy car buyer who values 1. Safety, 2. Value (features vs. sticker price), 3. Technical Specs, 4. Size, I cannot ask for more in a Family SUV than our Traverse LT AWD, 2015 model with Technology Package & Running Board which we got in late '14. It has been through ice, snow, flooded areas, dirt, sand and everything else in between. It has managed well to navigate us through various terrains. But, it also handles the heavy traffic of metro Atlanta with all the extreme brakings needed from outrageous city/suburb drivers. If you compare spec for spec with the other higher-end German and Japanese luxury SUVs with Traverse, you actually get more from this Chevy. While the ride is unlike the German models where you can feel the grip of the road, Traverse on the other hand saves you $10k - 18k in the purchase price. I can easily forgo the joy ride aspect and put $10-18K in my pocket, frankly. I did an extensive research and comparing before selecting the Traverse. After all the recall issues were resolved by mid-2015, I assumed it was safe to reconsider this model. I was right. We've had 0 recalls and 0 mechanical or safety problems (knock on wood). Because AWD has a reduced chance of rollover and handles better even in the rainy days of the south we scoured the inventory across the eastern states and found it in a northeastern state with much lower price due to the larger supply there than in Atlanta. Also, if you don't have a family but you happen to have a medium-to-large size DOGS, this is it! Also, if you have a lot of stuff to haul in the back, this is it! The fold-down in the 3rd row is very easy and provides ample rooms for a big cage or even furniture/appliances, etc. When we sold our beloved Ford Expedition SUV, we were concerned that the Traverse wouldn't be big enough to haul things but we were wrong. We never had to rent a bigger truck for anything thus far. Lastly, I do believe buying American cars keep (more) jobs in America! Yes, it helps to buy American cars because I see that the majority of my car's parts are made by USA companies regardless of where they may have sourced it. It helps to keep even 1 job in America as that one job has a trickle effect in our economy. While I see the people around me driving the Japanese or German brands for the prestige factor, I don't have a need to boost my image vis-a-vis a car model. A car is a car: it's nothing more than a mode of transportation. At the end of the day, what's most important is having a car that gets you safely from point A to point B and you don't cry over the monthly bills.

I love this vehicle. I really do. It's really a fantastic family vehicle with great value. Except for one thing. The MyLink System. General Motors, please do yourself a favor and fire whoever designed this system. It is the LEAST intuitive interface I've used in any software or vehicle in over a decade. This has really got to be the most annoying and unsafe user experience out there. It took my a whopping 20 minutes just to figure out how to set a location for the navigation system. And when I did, it was the absolute most unenjoyable and annoying experience you can think of. I'd seriously rather [non-permissible content removed] before having to use this thing everyday. RE. DE. SIGN. IT.

My new 2015 Traverse caught on fire by itself while parked. I drove 2.1 miles to work, parked and within 15 mins the car was on fire, flames shooting up. Totaled. Fire department had to put the fire out. GM does NOT want to me make me whole for my loss. I need to be made whole, I have been making payments for a car I no longer have (caught on fire), had to rent a car in the meantime and they don't want to return my $5,000 deposit. How do I get another car? Why doesn't GM think they need to make me whole. Have you seen the massive recalls they have on Traverse and Acadias? Make me whole! That's all.

After shopping around for a little while I was impress with the 2015 Traverse LT I ended up leasing. Very nice vehicle, feel great, equipment is awesome, phone connections, nice radio, hands free including heated cloth seats. Large and nice Interior , even in the third row, my three kids are an easy fit and my two teens fit nicely on the second row captains chairs. Very good family car.

Going up from a sports car with the family growing old I needed to lease a family SUV that holds at least 7 people, I shopped around and was close to seal a deal on a Honda Pilot but after testing the Traverse I was very impressed by the size of it, very specious plenty of room for everybody. One thing I've noticed that needs to be address, the touchscreen buttons should be bigger and remove from the borders of the screen.

2nd and 3rd row seats are not adult friendly as they're not comfortable and not large enough to accommodate. MPG not all that great, averaging 19 MPG for my recent 2000 mi round trip with family of 3 and gear. Mix city/hwy MPG average 15 mpg. At 3K, transmission had to get work done to it as it lost 3.5 qt of oil (where it went was not known). Doesn't haul my 18' aluminum boat well but does the job, MPG is worse or similar to a 3/4 ton truck, 10 mpg. Don't like the covers for sunroof and wished the 2nd sunroof would open but they don't. Don't like the radio unit, could use real buttons that go down when pushed. Rides decent and quiet on hwy. 3.5L V6 is under power for as big as it is.

I must say that I am extremely impressed with the 2015 Traverse LT we ended up leasing. It has a firm, well damped ride that we like, pretty good steering and drivetrain. The automatic transmission is fairly good at not driving us crazy -- all of our other cars have been manual transmission. The equipment we got was exactly what we wanted, including heated cloth seats. Interior is very well made and we love the color scheme. It is very roomy, even in the third row -- three adults across are an easy fit. The second row captains chairs allow us to have child seats and still have people get into the third row without hassle of removing child seats. Very good family car.

We recently leased a 2015 Traverse AWD 2LT. The ride is probably the most comfortable I have ever experienced in an SUV, and I have had several from different manufacturers.

This the second Traverse we have had. The 2011 is now with my daughter, I loved it so much and could not find any vehicle comparable in price and features so I leased a 2015 for myself. I'm not worried about it being a GM product. I think they are under so much scrutiny and by now the employees have to know that they can't afford any more screw-ups. So far (about 8 weeks) I have had zero problems with my new Traverse (and we only had one minor, easily corrected issue with the 2011). What can I say, I smile every time I drive the car. It is truly fun and great looking.

I actually wasn't expecting to purchase this vehicle. I drove a Pathfinder, Highlander, Durango and Ram1500 and studied the Mazda CX-9 and Hyundai Santa Fe. The Pathfinder and Highlander had horribly uncomfortable seats. The Ram was awesome, but ultimately the 8 seats and a better trade in value from my local Chevrolet dealer sealed the lease for me. Honestly, I only considered this as a lease due to reliability concerns with GM. We'll see how this goes. The Durango was my favorite, but the Traverse was the best value for the money (Dodge would have been $92/mo more expensive for 39 mos. The 8 passenger actually seats my 6 kids. By far the most comfortable seats of my test vehicles
