Love the Summit with 5.7L Hemi

I've owned this (my first) Jeep for 19 months now, and have had no problems. I look forward to getting behind the wheel every day. Lots of towing power, and passes with ease on the highway. So glad I bought the Summit model with its Hemi powerplant, luxury appointments and expanded technology. I bought it used in April '15 with 35k miles, and it was tight as a drum and drove like new. Gas mileage has been 16-17 in the city, and up to 23 on the highway. I couldn't be happier!

Overall is a great car.

The thing I liked most about it was the handling and driving on the highway. Didn't use it off road so don't know how it would perform but does well in snow. The electronics would occasionally not work, back up screen would go to a blue screen and not work. The rear view mirror on the drivers side obscured vision when turning corners. Would probably purchase another one.

Grand Cherokees have really changed- for the WORSE

I have owned 5 Grand Cherokees over the past 15 years. This has been my worst experience by far, and everyone I know that owns one says the same. I have never purchased an extended warranty on a vehicle, but thank goodness I did on this one or I may have spent as much in repairs as I did on the vehicle itself! Chrysler HAS to get their issues together. I cant imagine how many loyal Jeep fans have felt the same as me, and left for other brands. First of all, I had this vehicle for just 2 years. In 2 years, it was in the repair facility for 3 recalls, (including the famous gear shifter one) and also 2 more major issues. One of the issues kept my vehicle in the shop for 3 weeks, because the repair wasnt able to be performed without cutting into the body of the vehicle, (yes you heard that right- unbelievable!) and the last one put me in a dangerous situation when all of my electronics failed at once and my Jeep shut down in the middle of traffic. I immediately traded it in as soon as it was fixed. I have read countless other reviews regarding these issues. It is very sad because I LOVED my jeeps- they are sporty, well designed aesthetically, comfortable to drive, and very reasonable in price. However, the reliability and repairs were enough for me to leave the brand completely. I would not recommend this product for at least the next 5-6 years until they can figure out the issues and correct them.

Owned since mid 2013. Almost 90,000 miles . Had zero problems. doing all maintnance by myself. Very dependable vehicle. For future use - parts are cheap and avalible everywhere. If transmission goes bad they run around 400 slightly used. I drive a lot so I get usually from my cars around 250-350 k miles and i am sure i will get this out of this 2014 grand cherokee.

Just got the car this week. Our old 99 grand Cherokee was on life support. The 99 had served its purpose, hauling, towing, winter driving, but had been troublesome from day one. Reads lots of reviews and it appears things have improved. Got a 2014 with 28k miles, v6, 4wd. Drives nice, quiet, plenty of power and tows our boat very well. Loads of nice features. The car has a heavy, solid feel. But the damn shift lever! What is that about? It's a ridiculous design and it takes total concentration to get the thing in D or R. Maybe we'll get used to it in time.

Great car!

We own at 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel. I love the car it drives great when it drives. That's the key point here. It's been serviced 14 times yes 14 and today as I write this it's in again and now for 2 weeks the list is growing and now they found metal in the oil pan. We don't know what we can do. We bought it in MO and now live in CO. I truly love the car and the way it drives and the Diesel has been great on gas mileage we own a Dodge 2500 Diesel. But I can't handle all the endless trips to the dealership. It has stranded me 2x and almost caused a serious accident when the engine stopped going at 60mph. We filled a lemon claim but all we got was a letter back saying thank you for submitting. I sure hope no one else has to go through this nightmare.

I have always been impressed with the driving and handling of my Jeep. Several issues would be the driver front visibility when turning left due to outside mirror placement. Also, the back up camera screen frequently goes to a blue screen. Probably the most downside is the frequent maintenance ever 3 months. Otherwise a great SUV.

I would not give this car to my worst enemy!

Chrysler should be ashamed of fielding such poor quality. I purchased my GC less than two years ago, and have already had it in the shop multiple times, where the service experience was abysmal. It took over a month for the dealer to get a replacement shock into the shop after the OEM version started leaking at 25K. After that shock was finally replaced, the replacement shock then started leaking again a month later. On another occassion the service shop couldn't perform a simple oil change and I had oil leak all over the engine compartment. No compensation offered from the dealer. Now the air conditioner smells musty, which through a little research appears to be a design flaw that allows water to collect deep in the AC system, and the brakes started sqeaking.

Excellent car for the money

You should know it can get thirsty.. my wife says is a little noisy in the cabin compared to our two 6 cylinders Grand Cherokees we owned prior to this V8, for me is a non issue.. an update she loves this car now got used to the low rumbling of the V8 loves the UConnect an amazing piece of technology, likes the ride and comfortable seats.. the 8 speed transmission is fantastic! love how it shifts quickly. All in all very happy with this purchase and looking forward to my next new Jeep.

We bought a Cadillac SRX and drove it for two years before trading it on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4x4 with the 8 cylinder Hemi in it. I've had my 2014 for 13 months now and I am still in love with it. We hated the way the Cadillac drove - and the JGCS is so much better. The technology works better and is more receptive (everything from the touch screen to the outside touch door locks/unlocks). The interior is beautiful, I love the look of the dashboard and the leather seats. The only thing I would change is the seats could be a little more comfy. They aren't bad, but could be better. I've heard people who have had trouble with the transmission and other things, but so far so good with mine. No issues at all. I LOVE that jeep offers a lifetime warranty on the vehicle which I purchased. It's comforting to have it, because I know even if I have issues Jeep will take care of them. The cost of warranty on my brand new Jeep was less than an extended warranty on a used car. I plan on driving this vehicle until it literally won't drive anymore. There are only three things I would change - comfier seats, maybe better gas mileage and I would love it if it read the iPhone text messages like Ford and Chevy vehicles do. I was coming back from an activity on a school bus (I'm a teacher) and this gorgeous car in the parking lot caught mine - about a split second later, I realized it was MY CAR!

Wasted dough!

I purchased my 2014 Grand Cherokee AWD with the 3.0 Eco Diesel option. Everything about the car was awesome especially since I also had the trail rated package and air suspension option. The problem with this car was the electronics. Constant issues with the entire control dash lighting up with error messages, poor attention to detail in wiring harness (under fenders exposed wiring for headlights!) just a nightmare with multiple electronic computer flash upgrades. Then, while driving, at 65 mph and up, the steering would vibrate from left to right and the dealer was never able to fix it! The dealer service and customer support was equovalent to a third world nation; insufficient mechanics, no service availability on day of arrival, and no completed service repair on the front suspension shaking above 65 mph. The engine is fantastic. This diesel is incredible and economy was around 27-28 m.p.g. Not bad at all. Almost to the year, I was so fed up with all issues, I drove it to the Honda dealer and traded for a 2015 Honda CRV, AWD. No issues at all! What kills me most is the drop in value. I lost an easy $25,000 on this vehicle that the manufacturer claim is the most luxurious vehicle, and the Jeep name brand which is supposed to represent quality and durability, was a total disappointment. I should have listened to my friends that owned these cars pre iously. I should have used the Lemon Law! Get an Audi, VW, or Porsche Cayman with the same engine.

I vowed never to part with my Toyota 4Runner until I saw the Super Bowl commercial for the diesel Grand Cherokee. By March I was test driving an overland model and immediately impressed with the torque and gas mileage. How can you beat 30 mpg on the highway with the ability to yank my boat down the road at 65+ mph with minimal downshifts? Fast forward 15 months and I'm desperately trying to negotiate the trade value as I look to replace the recall and service bulletin ridden vehicle. First, the jeep would overheat pulling a small 17.5 ft speed boat that was half the rated towing weight. No kidding had to pull off the road on multiple trips to let the engine back off the red. The dealer kept advising it needed computer updates and then would send me on my way. Which leads me to the next issues - the dealers had no clue how to service or repair this vehicle. The first to oil changes they did not reset the oil life in the computer and when asked just proceeded to mash my accelerator into the floor and push buttons. It took me googling the procedures to show them how to reset. At 18k miles, I began to notice a rough idle. I reported to the dealership and told that's normal. At 19k I began to get check engine lights. Each time, I get the "computer updates" line. Note, the thing is also going in every other month or so for some sort of recall. After taking the vehicle in twice in one week for the check engine light with repeated reports of rough idle and now acceleration, I'm told a recent (two months old) service bulletin was out for the issue. After googling the service bulletin I was shocked at the level of "repair" necessary. A week, then a month go by before the dealer can get the parts. They even have me drop the vehicle and then return because they realize they don't have all the parts- like I said, significant repair. Finally they get the parts and I drop the vehicle. A week goes by and they haven't even touched the vehicle. I'm told the tech had other vehicles ahead of mine. Why the heck did I drop it off then? It takes almost another month before the car is finally repaired. The most significant engine repair I have had on any vehicle. Let alone one with less than 20k miles and just over a year old. All said I traded the jeep. If you are flirting with the idea of the diesel, first Google the service bulletin and take a look at the repair you may need and whether you are comfortable paying that kind of money for something that will likely need a significant overhaul.

Great Vehicle - but technology has glitches

2014 Grand Cherokee – Overland Edition. After driving 4-Runners for years, I made the switch to Jeep and love the luxury and smooth ride. I live in upstate New York where 4WD is really only needed a dozen or so days a year. However, it’s on these days with heavy snow that I miss the clearance of the 4 Runner, and actually got my Jeep stuck twice last winter, but it probably had more to do with the low profile tires than the 4WD. Luckily, after digging myself out I was able to sit on heated seats and grab a warm steering wheel, which are my two favorite features. My main complaint is the Navigation System – I would recommend skipping this option and buying a GPS since the Chrysler navigation system WILL get you lost. I’ve even been directed to turn up one way streets in the wrong direction! Plus, if you are driving you cannot enter addresses into the system and the voice recognition is completely useless. The first time it understands an address I give it will be the first time in over a year it’s ever understood an address. It’s no Siri!! If Jeep can fix the navigation & voice recognition system I would buy another Grand Cherokee. The last recall to fix the car from not being in park when shut off, was a set back to how the transmission handles. 1st to 2nd gear is terrible now.

First, let me say that I would never have paid sticker for these vehicles even though the vehicle is awesome so far. I bought a 2014 with 11,300 miles so it feels like brand new and I saved about $15K over sticker. I love this jeep but have only owned it a month now. I am averaging 24.9 to 25.9 with mixed driving about 50/50 city/hwy. It has so many features that I did not have on my 2002 Jeep grand Cherokee Limited model. It drives great, very quiet and minimal road noise. Stereo is awesome and I feel like I have more space in the cargo than my older jeep. It is a V6 2wd vs. my 4.7L v8 2wd that averaged 18.5 mpg. I think it has just as good pickup and power as the other and love the added gas mileage. I feel like this car practically drives itself! It's loaded with all kinds of safety features and tech settings that make it a joy to drive. I love the interior with the exception of the suede on the front sides of inside windshield, just not my taste and believe it may fade overtime. I keep it garaged but sure over time outdoors the sun would fade such a dark brown fabric. The seats are nice leather although they could be a bit more comfy, they are a little firmer than my other jeep. I have experienced some fogging of the headlights when humid or wet outside, this I am told jeep will fix under warranty. The only additional improvements I could offer thus far is that Jeep should put a little more luxury leather seats in the front of the Summit model. Like the quality Infinity puts in their SUVs. For the sticker price of the Summit model, they should be a bit more plush and with awesome cushioning. They are fine, the ride is nice, but they are just a bit flatter with a firm feel. I recommend doing away with the suede next to the windshield as this will probably look pretty bad once the sun fades the fabric. I can imagine them looking pink once the sun gets too them. Last Jeep should consider doing a little lighter wood trim on the dash to break up all the dark brown. At least they could give the option for different wood trim colors. The lighter medium brown and lighter brown wood grains would give it a bit more sophisticated look. Some may like the all one color look, but it does need a little something to break up the very dark interior. Last, the lower console has a bit of a plastic look that I believe may show scratches easy over time or color wear off the plastic. Maybe consider something a little more durable like stainless steel material or a hard rubberized plastic such as what is used for the interior door material. I must say that anyone considering a mid size or larger SUV without the need for a third row seat, should check out the Jeep line. They have really come a long way since my 2002 model. I loved my 2002 and drove it from early 2004 till Oct 2015, so I guess you can say I loved my jeep. I tried to find something other than another jeep only because I had driven mine for so long, but when I kept comparing all SUVs the jeep kept coming out on top in terms of size, comfort, fuel efficiency, power, cargo space, regular unleaded gas, and overall maintenance and cost of ownership. I find that I have everything I could imagine and then some in this vehicle. When I compared several vehicles like Acura MDX, Lincoln MKC, Audi Q5, Toyota Highlander, etc., I found that the Jeep seemed to offer much more in value, comfort, and cost efficiency. While I loved the Audi Q5, it was a bit smaller, higher maintenance costs, and premium unleaded gas. I loved the feel of the Q5 and it's driving experience but figured I would be paying dearly in my cost to own and read too many horrors in costly reliability issues. I don't want to go to the dealer for every maintenance issue and closest dealer is a 40 minute drive. Not all parts but many parts and services are as much if not more than 3 times the maintenance on the Jeep. The Lincoln MKC felt cheap in comparison and had much less room. The cargo area is much shorter than other SUVs and didn't even think I could fit a tall pet carrier in it due to it's height. Many door seals, interior trim, and even many door panels seemed not to be aligned very well. The interior felt a bit cheap and the very light interior models I drove already showed scuffs and dirt from test drives. I felt they were over valued. The Acura MDX was nice and drove nice, but didn't need the third row and the premium fuel. The Toyota Highlander, while roomy was more vehicle than I needed and the drive was not anything spectacular. These are just a few I actually compared probably 15 models and came back to the jeep, but a lot had to do with the price I was able to get it for. Overall I am very pleased with my Summit model and look forward to another 10 plus years of enjoyable Jeep driving. Recommend SUV buyers look at the jeep line.

This is my first American car and after 22months and 20,000mile my water pump, disc brakes and now my cam lifters has to be replaced. Thank God the car is still under warranty. This car has too many repairs and recall which I didn't mention. For such a stylish looking and pricey car, I you would think since jeep has been at this for such a long time they would have made a better product. Jeep doesn't needs these problems just correct them and you will be on top for a very very long time.

23,575 mi. Had 2 catalytic converters. 5 engine lights. frustrating to have a new car that strands you a 100 miles from home. Even with appointments car is not always looked at on that day. Not right. Always excuse they are short in techs. (So you can an be out 2 days without a car) Oil changes are ok. $60 oil filter on diesel, + oil + labor.

Had my catalytic converter replaced (under warranty) to the one that serial number ends in AB ... The one that's ends in AA is junk... Now my cat is actually regens on its own. I make it a point to drive 20 highway miles a week at highway speed for regen. I also bought an aftermarket def injector cover since mine injector had malfunctioned twice. I have finally drove my diesel jeep for 40 consecutive days without check engine light going on... This is a first since I bought it

Dissapointed!!

I love the comfort and look of my Jeep Grand Cherokee in eco diesel, but I have been non stop at the dealer since the first day I stepped out of the dealer. I have owned this vehicle not even a year and it has been in service for 4 times for check engine light. I have wasted countless hours waiting for my car and the service telling me they are not up to date on how to take care of the problem. I call Chrysler customer care and they told me there is nothing they can do but keep fixing it. I was told to leave with the car even though it was telling me it needed to be serviced and so engine didn't start a day later, I had it towed to the dealer and they supposedly fixed the problem. I feel stuck not knowing if this car is safe or who to turn too? The dealers are no help.Think twice on this pricey problem.

I love the sound of a diesel engine, and I appreciate the great fuel economy for a vehicle of its size. This VMI V-6 motor is totally adequate in power output. Highway cruising and passing are effortless. There are some glaring negatives, however, that limit my enjoyment of this motor. Foremost is the profound turbo lag that, on leaving a stop, causes very little response from the motor for about one second, then suddenly a rush of acceleration. It so substantial that it makes one look like a beginning driver abusing a clutch. One can avoid this behavior by loafing away from a stop to a speed of about 10 MPH before accelerating more vigorously; this requires changing driving habits specifically for this vehicle. This turbo lag is also seen at higher speeds when the motor is loafing and at low RPM, when suddenly asked for more power. The motor requires very expensive ($8-10 per quart) low ash diesel qualified oil, and expensive oil filters. After my first oil change at the Jeep dealer the check engine light came on because the ash filter in the exhaust system had become totally loaded. By contrast, the ZF eight speed automatic is wonderful; one is minimally aware of it working. The vehicle is a real highway cruiser. It is very quiet and pleasant for roadwork. I have had limited exposure to off-pavement travel. What experience I have makes me question the value of its "Trail Rated" status. The front bumper airdam is so low that it easily scrapes on small boulders here on our Arizona dirt trails. The ground clearance (without the extra cost air suspension) is about the same as my wife's Subaru Forester XT. My online reading leads me to believe that one can not easily remove this low airdam for off-road use and then drive at highway speeds with it off. So in reality this Jeep is a crossover vehicle with super-nice all wheel drive capability, but inadequate ground clearance to challenge moderately rough trail use. I suspect that Jeep gave this vehicle its "Trail Rated" status after testing with the airdam removed.

Loved this car for it's fir 1k miles. Great MPG, great value, good looks. Then it all started. In the shop 11x for various issues, poor fit/finish, including 7x for the check engine light. The service manger was ultra-apologetic and said they hadn't been adequately trained and encouraged me to escalate within Chrysler. Living in California made this a no brainer to claim Lemon Law protection. Ahead of even doing that however Jeep bought the vehicle back, compensated me for the literally 30hrs of time I've spent either at the dealer, on the phone, or dealing otherwise with this disaster of an American car. Yes it was ultimately handled, but avoid at ALL costs.

This is touted as the most awarded vehicle but I doubt anyone who awarded these is an actual owner of the eco diesel. First off I loved this vehicle(for 10000 miles). Everything about it was great. The gas mileage is great but after 10k miles it began!! Fiat Chrysler should never have released this vehicle with all the recalls and emissions problems specifically in the eco-diesel. Read up on this in Jeep blogs. I have been in the dealership(double digits) more with this one vehicle then my last 6 vehicles combined. It's been a year now and this vehicle's check engine(MIL) light has not been off more than a week in the last 8 months. Dealership nor Chrysler techs seem to be able to fix these issues. Unbelievable what close to $50k buys you nowadays. Obviously not everyone runs into these issues and it may not happen to you..that's what I originally thought and it happened to me. Just beware. I'll never buy another Chrysler product again due to them not backing their product nor caring about their consumers. Update - Arbitration forced Chrysler to buy back my vehicle after spending over 60days in the shop. Throughout the process Chrysler stood by their claim that the vehicle performed normally and as warranted. I am sure they will resell it. Good luck next owner.

23k miles in the first year. Pulled a 5000 lb trailer half way across the U.S. twice. Multiple trips between Denver and Rockies thru a lot of snow and ice. Off road in Moab, UT. This vehicle has been flawless. All this and have averaged 23 mpg over the long term. Only complaint I have is when the airlift system is all the way up the shocks top out with a loud bang over any significant bump.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 2014: I'll start with Do Not Buy anything that costs 50k+ from Jeep. I don't think they know anything about supporting this level of cost of automobile. Their service is absolutely horrible. Not at the dealership lever but the corporation itself. I have had numerous problems with my DEF system since purchase. I am at 14900 miles now and still have issues. I have been to the shop 5 times now. It has all so far been related to the emissions system. ] When I call Chrysler I talk to some of the rudest people I know in customer service. They reflect the same level of satisfaction I have come to expect from my Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 2014. As I type this I am waiting for parts to come in so I can take it in again. Just this morning I got a DEF message pop up. I called my case manager and could not get a hold of her. Every time I call the general team number it goes to voicemail. So I called Chrysler Corp and spoke to a rude person who said she cant help and would put me to my case manager. She did and I got voicemail. It's like they don't really care at all about their product or satisfaction of the customer. I am looking into a legal means to get my problem resolved. I hope there is a class action lawsuit against these guys to teach them better responsibility.

As many have indicated in their reviews, Jeep has a design problem with the exhaust system on the 2014 Eco Diesel. It appears to be a software problem. My Jeep has been at the dealership for 4 weeks now and all mechanical parts have been replaced. It's really rediculous. If Jeep corprate folks are monitoring these reviews they should really get this design issue sorted out quickly and make things right with their customers!

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is my third - and last - Jeep. While none of my Jeeps have been models of reliability, my 2014 Overland is by far the least reliable. Problems with the electronics started literally the day after I got it off the lot. Issues escalated to highway stalling, not starting, blank screens, etc. would leave it with the dealer for multiple days only to have the software updated and nothing repaired. As I write this it is in the shop for its fifth time, at least this time they did some real work. Replaced the water pump, crank shaft positioning sensor, blind spot sensor, etc. the car only has 25k miles! For a 50k vehicle the issues and dealer service are way below expectations. It's a great car to look at inside and out, but at only 25k miles I plan to take a huge loss and trade it in for a subaru outback today. Bye Jeep.

Where to start. When the car arrived there were some interior pieces partially off and in the front passenger side a bunch of wires were hanging down by the floor. Red flag? Hmm. Here we go, Issues I have had: -Control screen goes black randomly and radio shuts off. As well as everything else I access via this screen. -Randomly says key fab has left the vehicle and dings when it hasn't. -AC/Heat are extremes. If you decide to adjust temp, takes like 15 minutes for it to actually change. -Gear shifter, yikes! Hard to know what you actually shifted into. You think you pushed it all the way forward for Park but no, half the time, it is in reverse. -----SCARIEST of all is the transmission! It hesitates whenever you need sudden acceleration like trying to make a left turn! Almost got into a few accidents because of this potentially deadly flaw. I have to drive knowing that my transmission will seize and not to try and to do any rapid or quick accelerations. Had it looked at many times and they tell me nothing is wrong. We updated software, have a great day. I leased this poor excuse for a vehicle and I wish I could get rid of it today. Will never buy another Jeep Vehicle again.

Sold my '14 Jeep GC today. First American car in 20 yrs. Biggest $50K mistake of my life. Replaced it with a Lexus NX that will give me no trouble. First 10 weeks of owning this Jeep - dashboard went black, service department AWFUL and have had it back in the shop every few months for other issues; including rear shock failure at 16K miles that caused daily creaking and clunking in the rear end. "The most awarded SUV" is a complete piece of junk. Old Jeep Service Dept. not meant for a luxury vehicle experience (looked like a Kmart) new Lexus Service Dept. treat me like royalty (beautiful place). I will NEVER buy American again. There is no reason they can't build good cars. Took a loss, but so glad to be rid of it. I felt sad b/c it looked good, just didn't run and ate gas like no other car I've owned. BEWARE.

I currently have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 and it was the biggest mistake and waste of money! I have had nothing but problems with this Jeep. It has stalled numerous times, I have smelled a burning smell coming from my dash, my touch screen radio goes blank, my turn signals get stuck on while I am driving, my dash flashes and I have no idea how fast I am going, my shifter gets stuck in neutral, my transmission jerks, my back tires kick, sometimes my keyless entry works and sometimes it doesn't. I have never written a review about anything before but I also have not been this disappointed about anything in my life! My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Do not waste your time or money. They are not safe. If you are like me and unfortunate enough to have one of these do not bother calling FCA with any complaints! They will ignore you, make you think you are crazy and then ask you to stop calling them about your problems! Do yourself a favor if you are looking at a Jeep Grand Cherokee and stay far far away from them, trust me if you don't you will regret it just like I do.

It is said the happiest days in a boat owner's life is the day a boat is purchased, and the day it is sold. So goes my story with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Ecodiesel with Luxury Group. The vehicle was a great looking package with a rugged appearance and nicely trimmed interior. The diesel engine, while slightly noisy, pulled like a mule and got great mileage. That is, when it was working. Fortunately, my Jeep dealer was about a quarter of a mile off of my daily commute to work. That was a good thing as I saw the dealer often. The vehicle information system was very informative. Here are some of the messages it would send me: - "Engine Will Not Start in 130 mi See Dealer" "Incorrect DEF Detected. See Dealer." - Kind of interesting as the dealer is the only one to service this vehicle. - "Engine Will Not Start in 195 mi Service DEF See Dealer" .....and that frequent Check Engine symbol was kind of nifty. I was in the shop over 6 times within a year with multi-day layovers common. At least I got a loaner with the dealer's promotional messages pasted to the outside. The last service, based upon forum recommendations, I had them change out the catalytic converter under warranty. Only then did I feel the vehicle stood a chance of being reliable enough to pass the potential problems off to someone else. I really loved that Jeep when it worked. I really hated that Jeep and the dealership experience when it did not work. It is likely I won't be back to any Chrysler product for quite some time.

I picked up a 2014 GC Summit (Demo) with the 5.7L V8 in Jan 2015. So far its been an excellent SUV, plenty of power, very comfortable, touch screen very easy to use and connect my devices. Interior fit an finish is excellent really like the leather seating and suede headliner, Black interior, Harmon Kardon sound, LOTS of bump. The drive, as it is a heavy Vehicle and me coming from a sports sedan, is very comfortable, Sport mode well thats a hole different beast need I say more. Jeeps done a really good job with the GC. So I've had my GC for a year an and half now. Purchasing this Jeep I new there would be recalls now a days it's almost Unavoidable. I ve had to take it in for a total of 4 1. Wiring harness clip 2. Software update or flash update for my remote start and key fob. 3. New rotors and pads covered under WARRANTY, had to pay labour. 4. There was also another software update. Everything is running very well with my 2014 GC, I've heard there's another recall for the shifter which I haven't received any thing as of yet. At the same time I'm not sure if 2014's are apart of that recall, I've just heard it the 2015-16 models, but I will be going g into my local dealership to inquire. Hope this was helpful.

I have the Limited 4x4, 3.6 Liter V-6 gasoline with Advanced Technology Group, the Lux Group II, Trailer Tow Group IV, Exterior Appearance Group, Off-Road Adventure I and the Uconnect Nav option. I drove a Mercedes SUV, a Land Rover, the Audi Q5 and Q7 and the Volvo X90. I liked the Limited GC better than all of them and relative to cost, I LOVED the Limited GC. The others are so overpriced relative to the Limited GC. For all the reviews complaining about the diesel engine, I ask this: Why in the Hades did you buy the diesel? It cost an extra $4200 + tax and it is no savings over a gasoline engine given that diesel fuel is 20% or so more expensive than 87 octane. Diesel = not a smart buy

I purchased a 2014 diesel Grand Cherokee for multiple reasons. It got great gas mileage, could tow more than some trucks (we have horses), it can do off-road (at farms) and still fit in a parking garage in DC. This vehicle WOULD have been the perfect vehicle however it has been in the shop at least once in 8 of the last 12 months I have owned it. It qualifies for VA lemon law on two accounts and Jeep still will not assist me. Its really too bad because the vehicle could have been a real home run - if it worked. Lost vacation time, spent hours at the garage, etc. and it still doesn't work. Going in next week to get the cruise control fixed.

This is an update to a couple of reviews I have made on this car. As much as it pains me to say, please avoid the 2014 JGC Diesel and probably Jeeps altogether. My car has currently around 9K miles and has been in the shop 5-6 times. The last few times have been related to the diesel engine (catalytic converter was changed, engine light turned on a few times, and now a pipe in the diesel engine cracked. This resulted in exhaust fumes going everywhere. It is a true shame as this has been a car I had been waiting to buy for years. Chrysler really needs to improve its build quality and reliability as well as provide options for folks with lemons. I guess I am going the lemon law route. AVOID IT

I love my first ever GC. I had the fabric seats changed to leather and it is brilliant and only 6 months old.I am blown away by the power when you hit the accelerator even compared to my Dodge Nitro (petrol). The Laredo can throw you back in your seat. Love it! The paddle shifts that I thought were just a gimmick are great when towing which it also a winner in my book. All the electronics are impressive compared to my previous Dodge. It looks good and for an SUV is reasonably quiet. The only 2 x things that annoy me actually embarrass me and Jeep could have avoided which is the foot brake alarms and warnings and the door hinges able to overextend. It has a weird intermittent noise in the transmission when slowing down below 40km/hr. It sounds like a hydraulic valve releasing under load but the workshop has fitted shims to the drive line, replaced the driveshaft and put a new transfer box in and it still makes the noise although not as often. Performance still great. I have managed to bust the inside of the consul tray which is annoying but probably my fault.

About 6 months into ownership the transmission completely failed. After several weeks of trying to get information about what the problem was, not to mention a big hassle about getting a loaner, we were suddenly called and told the car was ready. I'm sure I was in denial for a long time about what was going on with the car, but the transmission was still not right and I didn't feel safe. And in the meantime I was receiving recalls and being told the dealership didn't have the parts to fix, if I was even able to get someone on the phone. The service departments in both my local dealerships just suck! I'll never buy another Chrysler product again!

It's recall after recall and the parts are rarely available. Several times I've tried to get into my car and the remote didn't work, didn't recognize the key nor did it start. I love the ride of the truck and the look, but it's not worth it in the long run. I need a safer vehicle and I'm disappointed that this did not make the mark.

This is an update to the review I originally wrote on this car a while back. I have had the car for about 6000 miles and this is what my experience has been. Love the diesel. Given gas prices declining would go for a V8 today though. This is my 3rd JGC and is an amazing car - if it was reliable. Chrysler needs to realize they are not selling Jeep grand cherokees at $50K they are selling $50K cars period. With that should come better reliability, service, and build quality. My JGC has gone to the dealer twice for check engine light and will need to go in again next week. The passenger door rattles and the leather split after about 100 miles... $50K is good value but it still has to work!

This is the fourth time that I've had water leak in to my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I discovered the issue, I contacted the dealership. They had my car for 3 weeks and told me that after extensive testing they could not recreate the leak and to come and pick up my vehicle. Two days later I was the dealer again. Weeks passed with my Jeep in the dealership service bays until they fixed it. A month later I was back with more water leaking into my trunk, pooling where the spare is located, and flowing in to the rear floor boards. It took them another 2 weeks to fix it. I had my car for two months with no issue. Currently, my car is sitting at another dealership with a water leak.

Purchases a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee after looking at SUV ratings which rate it as one of the best SUVs to buy. Less than a year into it my car won't start. It idles but it will not start. I was told it is a fuel pump problem which is housed in the TIPM part. I have taken the car back 4 times with the same issue. The TIPM part has been replaced twice. This is not what you expect from a new car. I am a woman who is afraid of the reliability of my brand new car. It appears I am not the only one with this issue. I wish I would have known before. A year and a half into my lease, all I have had are nightmares. I have had so many electrical issues with this car I am actually afraid when driving. IÂ’ve had the JGC Overland 4x4 with 3.0 diesel for 8 months, and have no complaints. We go back and forth from the Bay Area to our house in Tahoe once a month and IÂ’m amazed how good the mileage is. I love the diesels torque. Great gas mileage and power. The tranny is as smooth as silk (Yes smooth.. No clunking) and the paddle shifters are very nice in the mountains. WeÂ’ve used the snow mode a few times and it gives me a real sense of confidence. I did get a safety recall notice and brought in in last week, and had the work done. I was a little surprised when I went there that there were 8 flash updates required. But it has sophisticated computer system in it, so I should not be surprised.

So this is my first American car. They did not provide a diesel option for the drive train but that is the model I have. This car has been problem after problem and I am selling it after only one year. Jeep you have really screwed up this model. The latest problem is the DEF injector is made of plastic, located on the bottom of the car and broke right off. You screwed up that part design and location so bad that the parts are on backorder with no known delivery date. So my first American car is being offloaded with a significant loss to me as your design is not reliable. The drive train is where this car is really lacking to pathetic. The drive train has a great deal of lag. Almost dangerous

Ours: 2014 Limited 4x4, Diesel, Trail Rated, Adv Tech pkg (loaded). Many electrical problems & after 5-mo in service is being bought back under MI lemon law. But we're lucky: came to find that "using" this car was very frustrating. The touchscreen is dangerous to use when driving vs physical buttons/knobs. Just turning on heated seats takes 3-4 steps. Climate controls? More steps. Eyes are constantly searching for controls & impossible to see what's "on" just at a glance. Also, front field of view is somewhat limited. Paddle shifters always in the way. There's no feel in the shifter (try doing a 3-point turn in the city). Always accidentally hit buttons on wheel when turning in reverse, too.

Bought a new '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 in late '13 and traded it in Feb-'15 at 25k miles. Here's my (roughly) 500 day experience. The issues. 1-Transfer case seal fluid leak. 2-Heat/AC temp control either blazing hot or ice cold. 3-Check Engine Light four times before fixed. 4-Clunking of rear suspension. 5-Interior tailgate panel kept popping off. 6-Exterior tailgate handle crooked not flush Jeep said factory defect but wouldn't fix. 7-Radio / Climate control unit locked up periodically. 8-began hearing strange noise from gearbox. 9-constant recalls. 10-overly complicated climate controls. That said, there were many things I liked - see next section.

The most frustrating ownership experience in over 50 years of car ownership. My Grand Cherokee is a 3.0 diesel. Minor irritations would include the frightening suspension clunking when the ride height is set to maximum, but my major issue is service. Or to put it more plainly, the terrible service. Like other owners, I am constantly required to go to the dealer to get the computer 'scanned'. The number of 'codes' is always overwhelming, and the dealer is ALWAYS at the mercy of the factory for instructions as to how to correct the problems. I never get my car back the same day, Sometimes it is two weeks, or more.

This is my second review of our 2014 GC, which we leased in June 2013. The transmission continues to be a hot button issue for me. Gear shifts up and down through 1-3 are rough and sloppy. I believe we're on our 7th recall (hard to keep track at this point), and are on a wait list for the last 3 of them as parts aren't available yet. There are tons of little things that drive me crazy. For example: in literally every other car I've owned, if the stereo is turned off when the driver turns the car off, it stays off when you turn the car back on. Not this car, not a great thing if you're giving a ride to a client or customer and the stereo comes on blaring when you start the car.

Glad I leased it

Owned the car for 8 months and 3500 miles. The 8 speed transmission with the PentaStar V6 is terrible and the other Edmunds negative reviews on that transmission are 100% accurate. Upshifting between gears 1-3 is poor, and it slams into 1st gear at the downshift. Have been to the dealer many times, the software updates to transmission only last for a few days before it goes back to shifting badly.

the Grand Cherokee is by far the best car for the money. The Jeep has a level of luxury and refinement that rivals that of the land rover or even Mercedes SUVS. I've had other luxury cars(namely an Acura) and this jeep offers the save refinement and the go anywhere capabilities of the Jeep brand. The interior has so much technology, two LCD displays that are easy to use yet advanced enough. I'm very happy with my 2014 Jeep,I highly recommend this vehicle for someone looking for luxury SUV that is refined yet capable. its great car, its as home navigation the mall parking lot as it would be transferring the Amazon. its the best car I've ever owned.

I have seen reviews with problems on the transmission. The buttery smooth 8 speed (intuitive) transmission in my GC is the finest transmission I have ever driven. (second place would be my Lexus RX) It seems to figure out my driving pattern and go there for me. If I drive sport for a while it holds the gears longer when I go back then quickly returns. I live in VT and the off road is incredible even with the all season tires. You need to know how to drive and where to put the settings. The only thing I have had go wrong is the gas filler door stuck and the dealer fixed it. He said if it did it again they would replace the assembly. The navigation and radio is top shelf. Drives & tracks true.

I made a huge mistake.

I'v owned many Toyotas and Hondas. Where dependability/ capability i grew bored of styling. I liked the styling of the Overland 4x4 V8 and gave it a shot. 3 months & realize I made a HUGE mistake. Off road is poor with suspension clunking while decompressing over modest bumps or rocks. Panels inside and outside are popping off. Check engine light on and off with dealer saying speaker issue; LOL. Fuel smell. Remote start will not turn on AC or heat until you enter vehicle. Climate control issues Set at 75+ will always blow heat even if temp is 100, set @ 74- will blow AC cold even it temp is 20 degrees. Liftgate problems, radio/SD issues. Bad to no Service.

The day I drove my 2014 Jeep GC off the lost the issues started. As I waived goodbye to my dealer sales rep I notice the Jeep steering wheel is mis aligned and the Jeep pulls to the left on the highway. After multiple realignments and numerous trips to the dealer, they could not fix the issue. Even a Chrysler tech rep came out and could not fix the problem. Then not more than two weeks into ownership and the engine light starts going on and off. After multiple restarts, the engine light goes off only to come on a few days later. A few days after that, the transmission won't go into reverse gear. More trips to the dealer and still not fixed. I'm warning everyone...Do Not Buy a Jeep GC. Update - worthless than 10k miles the dealer had to replace the transmission. What an expensive pile of Jeep.

1st diesel car/suv for me. So much torque and great mpg. Got 34 mpg on a 500 mile Thanksgiving trip. 700 miles between fuel stops. After 5k so far no trips to the dealer for anything. 26 mpg avg around town. 8 speed trans. and electronic shifter takes a little time to adjust to but actually works well and is efficient. The DEF was still half full so 10k between fill-ups is realistic. Build quality is excellent with no squeaks or rattles. The NAV and electronics has worked well syncing with phone and XM. Still have more to learn and utilize. Auto back liftgate and storage is easy to use and ample for midsize suv.

I purchased a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland in October 2013. I've driven 39k miles on California highways since the purchase. The problems began before I got home and have continued to grow plague the vehicle. My first issue was the loud clunk in the rear end during acceleration from a dead stop and repeating during deceleration. The transmission fails to find the right gear either from a dead stop of while passing which is a major safety issue. Driver seat squeaks during movement. The sunroof rattles, the radio/Bluetooth works sometimes and water gets into the fuel filler cap during a car wash. The dealers answer is always a re-boot. I plan to trade it in over the holidays. Poor quality.

After about 30 seconds driving forward, the car shifted from 2nd gear back to first gear. The car practically skidded to shift back to first. I was thrown forward in the car. It would not shift out of first. The engine light came on. They said something is wrong with the transmission. They said with a car this new, they do not have the knowledge to fixing the transmissions. They replaced the transmission. I picked it up on a Monday, November 24 and drove it home. The next day, I had the problem again. When turning on 4 lane road, the vehicle started to go across the intersection and stopped in middle. Needless to say, they cant find a problem with it. I dont want the car anymore.

The premium radio and navigation system is out of date, of poor quality and no upgrades available. The sound system has almost no memory, you need to "plug in" a hard drive with your downloads or carry the CDs with you. Worst of all, the driver's seat has some component that will periodically "thump" you at your kidney level on the door side of the seat. I don't know if it is the lumbar support springing out, or something else. Since it only happens periodically, the dealer won't try to fix my new car with this little "gift" from Chrysler. Just like they don't consider the "Premium Navigation" system not knowing that I-49 is open north of Shreveport as being any concern. Service sucks.

first 3 gears shift so hard that it will snap your head back. Took to dealer 3 separate times. They all say there is no fix and that it is normal. Google this issue. You will see that a lot of 2014 jeep grand cherokee owners have this problem. It feels like the transmission is slipping in the fist 3 gears. Even the service guys at 2 dealerships admit there is a problem but no fix and Jeep says its normal. I've been driving cars for 22 years and I travel for work and rent cars every week. This problem is like no other I've ever experienced in any other car. The GPS with voice controls is also worthless and system also does not work with messaging and iPhones. The most popular phone!

Purchased the Grand Cherokee Overland with the Hemi engine new in March 2014. After 2 years of ownership I am still very happy with the car. I love the way it looks and drives. I haven't had any mechanical issues with it, my only disappointment is the recent recall due to the inability of some owners to use the electronic shifter. I did replace the factory air filter with a K & N air filter and increased my gas mileage by a couple of miles per gallon. I am getting 23.6 on the highway without using cruise control.

I purchased my Grand Cherokee new in September of 2014. As of today, it has spent over 35 days at the dealer for numerous issues - transmission, radiator, gps, bluetooth, brake recall, electrical recall, rusting of tow hooks, water pump, interior door panels broken from the factory. Jeep has refused to negotiate under the New Jersey Lemon Law and has kept me waiting since August. I was also promised that customer care would call this week after my Jeep spent 10 days waiting for a radiator and water pump. Still no answer. Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep have the worst quality as per the latest Consumer's Report that came out last week - and the worst customer relations in the business!

I have the diesel, other than significant turbo lag it is a great engine. Getting away fast is dawdling off the line then launching at about 10mph with a neck snapping jump, from there on the 8 speed is flawless. The interior is fine and the electronics are good, other than the useless and expensive nav. The navigation is insultingly bad. The maps are old. The updated maps are very very expensive and still older than the vehicle. The head unit is desperately slow. Like fifteen year old computer slow. It takes a long time to start in the morning. It takes a long long time to scan even a small SD card, if it even accepts that it is there. The nav is slow and the higher order features are linked to your SiriusXM subscription. I decided after near two years that it really isn't worth the money, so I have discontinued the service, I can get up-to-date traffic information and much better nav on my phone for free. I can also stream music from my phone. Basically I'd be better off with a tablet linked by Bluetooth to the car and using my phone for cellular data only. Infiniti and Mercedes head units were much better than this in 2012! The manufacturer has no apparent interest in providing any sort of fix for existing customers, so I won't buy from them again. Ah, the collision avoidance and all the automatic brake enhancement garbage! Oh dear, oh dear. How long before the class action? There are two problems, the first is false alarms. You are driving down the road and the car in front turns off. But the system doesn't see it that way and freaks out! You dab the brakes in reaction and WHAM! MAXIMUM BRAKING! But there's NOTHING on the road ahead of you. There's a car entering a parking lot, currently crossing the sidewalk. But it isn't even on the road any more. Once in a while in panics at the shadow under a bridge. Sometimes the car in front dabs its brakes and WAMMO! We have full freak-out mode again. So slowing traffic, which you need light braking to match, results in ULTIMATE PANIC STOP! Good God! This system is not right. On my commute there's a light where I turn left and a lot of traffic makes a U turn. There are six lanes, three either side of the median, so my course to my next road is a wide sweeping turn. But three times now the system has locked on to the U turning car, which is already well off my path, completely not an issue, and hammered the crash avoidance brakes. So I had to disable it. The last time it did it I heard the screech from behind and was sure I would be rear ended, which is where I expect the class action to come from. I stamped on the accelerator and fortunately got away from the impact. The center console plastic leatherette has cracked where my elbow rests. Only two years. You'd think a high traffic area like that would be real leather and it would last more than two stinking years. Other than that it's fine. I think the brakes will need swapping out soon. The suspension is still too compliant in sports mode. Early on I had the DEF injector issue, but that was cured and hasn't come back. I fitted E load rated K02 tires so that I can drive off-road without concern. I sometimes notice the noise, and they cost me about 2mpg. But they are the only E rated tire for the JGC and they are twice as thick as all the other options. Really tough tires. I have reported the fuel economy before the change.

No help from dealership GM on any front as he would not answer a call, e-mail or letter. Note that this was not a stalking but singluar contacts with no response. Went through "lemon law" arbitration which was a complete joke. Told that this level of service issues was "normal and reasonable". I guess spending 25+ hours in waiting rooms is a privlege and honor in the Jeep world. Would not recommend this auto manufacturer to anyone under any circumstance.

Have had this GC a little over 1 yr and have had it to service on average once a month including 2 recalls and I'm waiting for the 3rd one. For the last 3 months the car has a creeking ( like walking on a old wood floor ) that starts in the back and moves all around the car, including when you shut the car off it still continues,It was in the shop for what should have been 2 days turned into 10 days and less than 2 miles down the road it started doing the same thing .I have recorded the sounds numerous times abd have them saved .Today as it sat running in my garage I raised the back and i could hear it coming from the rear door I put my hand around touching and felt so much play. Not normal . 2/2016 ....In the time since I last wrote this car there has been 3 more recalls and the car has been in shop 4 times . When driving for no reason at all , no cars next to me or in front the auto breaking system has come on a total of 6 different times literally stopping the car as I was driving down the road . 3/2016 ....Of course they couldn't find anything wrong but when I totally lost it then they agreed to recalibrate the auto breaking , so far it's been ok the last 6 weeks .4/4 /16 ....The car has been in shop all week again do to a bad coolant system . I was told parts by Chrysler were back order because they need more than 1,000 for faulty coolant systems . This is the final straw with Jeep , as soon as I'm able this car is gone . Biggest car disappointment ever . Stay away from Jeep ! UPDATE .........still many unresolved issues with this car . UConnect Access does not work and of course the dealership has no clue why . Have spent literally hrs on the phone with UConnect and they have exhausted everything they know that could be wrong . Dealership has ordered Star Ticket to Chrysler to figure out what is wrong and the serviceman at dealership gave the wrong info to Chrysler so nothing has happened . Will be inn contact with Dealer and Chrysler next week . This is the biggest 52,000 mistake we have ever made with a car . Piece of junk .

Purchased 2014 Jeep GC Limited late Oct. 2013. Vehicle built Sept. 2013. 7700 miles, and no problems. Only 1 recall item re: vanity mirror wiring in driver's sun visor. MPG as advertised. Rides, handles & runs very well. We find it very comfortable. Only "real" complaint is paddle shifters are too close to rim of steering wheel. Sometimes when turning wheel quickly, I will accidentally hit paddle shifter and go into manual shift mode. I like the GC Limited, and I see a whole lot of them out there. Can they be as bad as some consumer reviewers say? Not based on my experience. 3/21/2016 update: Have had only one problem with the car. Back in October-November, Climate Control system went haywire. Took dealer two tries to figure out the problem. First, they replaced the center stack, but that didn't solve problem. It was a bad controller module under the hood. Replaced that, and problem solved. Still like my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. 9/20/2016 update: Still running just fine. I never had any issues with the electronic gear selector that was subject of a recall, but I had the recall work done anyway (software update).

Recently switched from Honda to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel and could not be happier. A realistic 32 MPG HWY and 24 MPG mixed driving for a 5,300 pound 4WD vehicle is incredible. With its maximum torque available at ~2000 RPM, acceleration from 0-35 outperforms most "sports" sedans...which makes it imminently drivable around town. Sport mode is essential for spirited driving; Eco mode is docile and delivers best fuel economy (~24 MPG City). The interior is very comfortable, and of high quality. I love the open pore wood trim. Only 1 problem to date (DEF injector), which was fixed quickly by the dealer. No other issues!

This is my 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee, and by far my least favorite. Every feature in this car has been thought out (excuse me - not thought out) to be for driver safety and passenger comfort. 1) I love that quick automatic turn signal that only blinks 3 times. Works so poorly in heavy traffic. Its a great feature when you drive put a turn signal on and when finishing changing lanes the signal flashes as though you are turning back to thee lane you came from. 2) I always love a car that lurches when starting to move forward. 3) I have driven rear wheel drive cars that handle snow better than my 4x4 Jeep. 4) The new and improved transmission shifter installed as part of warranty is just as bad as the original one

After 2 years of knowing there is a transmission problem, I finally received my Recall Notice after the accidental death of the movie star in California. I rushed my car in for repair. Within 3 weeks I was having more computer difficulties where the transmission locks in park, not being able to drive forward or backwards or place into neutral (you're unable to move the car to the curb) because the transmission locks into park. If you're at a stop sign when this happens, and everybody starts honking and screaming at you. Once you turn the engine off and all the electronics off and restart the engine and the electronics, it "sometimes" clears the computer like a reboot, but it doesn't clear it every time. I phoned the dealership and they rescheduled a transmission reprogram appointment approximately a month later. The dealership took about 5 hours twice. The second reprogram was done about a month ago - within 3 weeks I had a recurrence of the transmission locking in park at a 4-way stop in heavy traffic when I was about 50 miles away from my home. This happened 3 times that day and I was able to reboot it by turning the engine off. I phoned the dealership and they advised me to call roadstar service and have the car towed to the closest dealership. Not wanting to leave my car at a dealership 50 miles away from home, I took the chance of turning off the engine rebooting it and driving home to try to resolve it at my local dealership. Next, I called the dealership and they advised me this problem with the electronics has not been resolved and until they have the solution or a new program for the transmission electronics, there was no point in scheduling an appointment to reprogram it again. I then phoned the Chrysler dealerships' national customer care head office at a 1-800 number, to register the transmission computer problems I am experiencing. At this point, Chrysler has not given me an answer yet. This most recent incident happened August 31, 2016. They're closed for the Labour Day long weekend, and they told me they'll call me next week.

The knobs did nothing and the touch screen was completely frozen. Screen/radio unit was completely replaced. Dealer forgot to transfer my sirius subscription, so spent over an hour on the phone with sirius explaining that I did not purchase a new radio, blah, blah. New unit seemed to solve my problems. Then about three months later, the screen completely turned off as I was on the highway. Been dead for about a month. No radio, backup camera, etc. Dealer is going to replace unit AGAIN.

I am extremely happy with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E 4x4. I have had it for 6 months now, about 8,000 miles. I am happy to say that I have experienced none of the engine/electronics/transmission issues that some other reviewers have written about. For me, my JGC has given me the perfect blend of size, performance, and comfort. I am constantly getting compliments on how it looks (inside and outside), as well as how it rides. I average about 20 miles per gallon with about half city, half highway driving. I came from a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 (which was another good vehicle, honestly) - but the extra room and power of the JCG makes me happy I "upgraded." * 2 years later and I am as happy with this vehicle as I was when I first bought it. No issues of any kind and the MPG is better than I expected.

We experienced electrical problems 3 weeks after buying it. We opted for the 5.7 V8 Overland with QuadraDrive II. Check the Jeep forums to know problems associated with each model. Our Jeep Grand Cherokee had a check engine light turn on and off randomly. The shut off while the car was in drive, the air suspension raised and lowered, the windshield wipers would come on and off, the headlights would shut off in the middle of the night, and the doors would unlock themselves while the car was parked randomly. My wife was stuck at the mall for 3 hrs when the car would not turn on. The dealership tried to fix the car for 6 months to no available and we were without a loaner for initially.

It could be an excellent vehicle, sharp looking, fun to drive and all the bells. But there is where it stops. My first american car after over 18 years of Japanese and German. To put it short, the most expensive and also worst vehicle I have ever bought/owner. Just within 5000 miles I had the car at the dealership for the same electronic issue and they still could not figured it out. I never had so much stress owning any vehicle. Finally I had enough and traded it in after only five months of ownership. What a pity. It is absolutely sad, that Chrysler has not more pride in their product. Consequently this will be my last Chrysler product ever.

Too many other reviewers have complained about poor throttle response and the 'default to eco-mode' transmission. Sport mode on the transmission is intuitive and impressive in its ability to hold a lower gear when torque is needed on demand. I regularly toggle between 'D' and 'S' modes with a simple reward tug on the transmission selector handle for the times when I want fuel savings or for the times when throttle response is of utmost importance. The base model Laredo is a two wheel drive model, and the only option I chose was 23E (8-way adjustable electric drivers seat). I am averaging 20.8 MPG over 5500 miles of mixed city/highway driving. Comfortable ride and fine handling.

This Review is for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4 EcoDiesel (EDMUNDS Please Add This Engine Choice)Additional features on this already highly capable SUV include the Advanced Technology Package. Despite being a Jeep family and a GC fan, I did a substantial amount of research before purchasing this $50K SUV given the amount of recalls on Chrysler products recently. I looked at BMW, Porsche, and Land Rover but could not find an SUV that even came close for the $50K price point anywhere close to new (or even slightly used). It is important to note this configuration with the Diesel engine literally has almost every feature and is more than enough SUV for most people.

Leased a 2014 JGC Overland. Had it for a year & just traded it for an Acura. All in all, not a bad car. Comfortable, nice features (when they worked), sharp looking. Definitely opt for V8 or V6 (I didn't - mistake). Jeep has got to focus on overall reliability across the board. In particular is the technology. So unreliable. Would turn on car & no volume, navigation has no idea where I am. Half the time couldn't change stations or adjust volume. UConnect is a waste. You get Yelp & Pandora for a fee (free on my teenagers Honda Accord). Navi input crazy slow. The wifi option is expensive & completely worthless. Transmission stinks. Step on accelerator & stand still for a few seconds.

I hav 2014 Jeep Overland V8, fully loaded and its a beautiful gas guzzler that drives pretty darn well.....when it works. It is 13 months old and has about 9500 miles, here is the problem list: The forward collision warning system goes off randomly, activating the brakes about half the time!!!! This is the worst problem I have, its unsafe, the vehicle will brake very hard when this happens, I have almost been rear ended several times. It has been in the shop 6 times for this problem. FYI they replaced the camera/sensor, the part cost $1400 according to the warranty ticket!!! 5 other significant problems and Jeep customer service is horrid, its getting lemon lawed!! Update: still never a response from jeep,, traded it, lost a couple thousand but it was easier than fighting through a lemon law. Never fall for the nice exterior and interior, the vehicles are problem ridden POS's!! They continue to have safety recalls and arent getting better, resale value has certainly fallen.

Bought a JGC Ltd. in January and loved almost everything about it. But in May I had an accident that caused all of the front air bags to deploy. The vehicle was repaired in about 3 weeks but I am now in my 7th week waiting for the knee air bag to arrive and be installed. The collision center has done everything it can and I called Chrysler Support. What a joke, they are telling me it will be another 8 weeks before the part will be available. They have offered NOTHING in the way of support like a free rental car even though I have maxed out my rental insurance. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product. How can they sell cars they don't have parts for? Does the customer mean nothing?

I have a 2014 JGC Altitude 4x4 with a May 2014 build date, and it is really great so far. I am confident that many of the issues reported in the early builds were software related and have been cleared up. My observed mpg is 17, so that is a little disappointing. I will admit that I have kind of a heavy foot. Coming from a string of luxury sport sedans, the lower mpg is offset in part by getting to use regular gas rather than premium (which costs about 12% less at current prices in my area), and dyno oil rather than synthetic.

Well I never thought I would have to write a review. After working for Chrysler for 42 years and driven nothing but Chrysler producst I'm about to change. I purchased a 2014 Jeep Overland and have had to return it to the shop several times for transmission problems. Trans is a 8 speed and it really sucks. Jerks forward to approx. 2800 -3000 rpm. when starting out. When merging into traffic no response when accelerator is pressed then jumps into passing gear. Thought I was back in the sixties again. Dealership tells me that it is the characteristic of that vehicle. Well when you buy a $50000.00 vehicle you kind of expect everything to be right. Ok I think I'll try a Ford.

Chrysler will not stand by the product.

We bought our 2014 Overland in December of 2013. It isn't six months old yet, and the leather is pealing on the lower part of the driver's side seat. We had to make two trips to the dealership in order to have the manager take pictures so that he could then send them to Chrysler. Chrysler says they will not fix it. Too bad, because other than the leather pealing, it is a great vehicle. However, I am afraid to think of what I would have to prove if something went wrong with the drive train. BUYER BEWARE. If they won't fix something small like leather, what will happen with something big?

I love my 2014 JGC Summit. It drives so smooth and quiet. The bigger touch screen is great and makes it easier to see the maps. The sound system is the best I have ever had in a car and love it. The handling is so sweet, corners well and it has plenty of pick up and go. The gas mileage is so much better than my old Hemi. It looks beautiful on the outside and inside. I feel pampered and spoiled to say the least. A fun and great SUV to own. I say get one and enjoy it.

I have had the Jeep SRT for almost 3 years now and love it. I usually swap vehicles every 3 or 4 years, but dont think i'll be doing any swapping anytime soon. Performance tires only last 17k miles! But that's performance tires for you. Swapping them out for far cheaper performance tires that last twice as long. Only had to do oil changes and tire rotations otherwise. Still decently fast. Sounds awesome! Fastest time is still 4.3 seconds, althought computer shows 3.8 after last upgrade. Hmmm... overall very satisified with the Jeep. Original review : I laugh when some claim a Porsche Cayenne or BMW X5 M are better or are in a different class. I originally was looking at an X3 M-Sport, but couldn't swallow spending almost 60K for an X3. I also considered the Audi SQ5, a used X5M. And I couldn't stand the snobby dealers with their nose in the air. I eventually ran into the Jeep SRT. Not only is it the most appealing of the luxury SUVs, the new interior for 2014 was bar none the best. Perhaps Audi and BMW can take a lesson from this. And it is FAST! I love that it's only marginally 'slower' than a Cayenne Turbo S that costs more than 2X! I DID 0-60 in 4.3 SEC! You decide if that's slow! Love the SRT and looking forward to many years!

We leased our Grand Cherokee in June 2013, and so far have not been impressed. Granted, the car is great looking, comfortable, and the interior is top notch. That being said, the transmission in this car is a nightmare. Shifting up and down through gears 1-3 is like riding in car with a 16 year old kid that is learning to drive a stick shift. It slams and lurches in and out of gears, almost to the point of being embarrassing when we have friends or guests in the car. It never seems to know what gear it's supposed to be in while driving. I'm glad I leased, and that in two years I'll be able to hand over the keys to the dealer instead of being forced to keep this car long term. It's already been in twice for multiple warranty issues. UPDATE: we ended up buying out our lease 9 months early and traded the car in for a Toyota 4Runner. Too many warranty issues, many of which we were stuck on a waiting list for parts. Couldn't be happier with the 4Runner and happy to be rid of the Grand Cherokee. We were so excited when we bought the Jeep, and it was a colossal disappointment. UPDATE 2: So happy to have the Jeep gone and the 4Runner in my garage. Ten months of ownership into having the 4Runner and couldn't be happier.

This is my third Jeep but my second lease. This one has fallen short right out the gate. I bought my Jeep in February. The issue is when I tried to put the vehicle in reverse or any other gear, it would snap back into park. I would have to turn the vehicle off and on again at which time it would work but my engine light would remain on. First they said it was a 'faulty shifter module' and replaced it within 2 hrs. One week later, back in, this time they said 'it is an issue with a transmission part'. Two days in the shop. Two weeks later it's in again...now it has been in for 2 weeks come this Wednesday and they are replacing the entire transmission. Eventually.

After driving my 14 Limited for a year and 20K miles and countless days in the dealer I just could not take it anymore. Ac issues,Uconnect and transmission issues finally made me trade it in. I had a early production 14 and was working a deal with the dealer to trade it in on a latter 14. I started thinking twice about going through this hell with another Jeep. I thought I'd gave the dealer another chance to get the bugs worked out because I really liked the Jeep and had done several upgrades. It was in the shop this time for three days and was returned to me worse than when I took it in. I'm sorry to say I traded it in on the way home for a Volvo. I sleep at night now!

I read some of the complaints but a few friends have the truck for a while with no issues at all. Firstly, you can not beat the deals Jeep is giving on these trucks. The value for the money is unreal. I love the U Connect interface. It is by far easier to use than BMW I-Drive, Audi MMI, or Lexus. Have an Audi and had the others. The features are terrific, intuitive, and easy to use. Heated seats front, rear, and steering wheel. I got the 20" wheels and the ride is firm and comfortable. The steering is precise. The transmission is the same 8sp electronic that BMW uses. It has 3 drive modes. No electronic, HVAC, or transmission issues at all..

Well I went from foreign to American after 20 years with some good and bad news here for you all. Make sure you do your research and test things with this Jeep. List of my bads: 1. HVAC was poor at first, just google it or look for hot cabin in youtube. They did some updates that seems to have helped with that issue. 2. While the shifter is not a good one in this car, my jeep has yet to roll over me. Fingers crossed! 3. Repair frequency is a let down. So far I have had both front bearings replaced around 36000, then the one failed again within 20k. Even though the 20k failure was out of the 3/36 warranty, I called Jeep to complain and they picked up the tab. At 57,000 I started having a odd vibration, now the one front axel is bad. This is covered under the powertrain warranty, so those buying this care new now, take that into consideration. Goods: 1. Interior is very nice. 2. Unconnect is very easy to use, and logically designed. Had an acura, hated that set up with their dual screens. 3. Noise, this thing is insulated very well. 4. Gas MPG I am routinely getting 24 on the high way and 19-20 mixed. Note, I never keep it in eco mode. 5. Towing, tows my 22ft pontoon boat just fine. Overall I like the car, I wish the rear glass would open up. I like the great res of the reverse camera. I had a Honda Pilot before this that started suffering from the VCM vibration on the highway, just google it, all their 6 cyls have this issue. Honda did nothing for me on that one at 36,000 when it started and Lehigh Valley Honda in PA let me buy new tires telling me the tires were causing it! They new damn well that was not the issue and when I showed them post new tires it is still happening their stance was that it is a characteristic of the car! Done with Honda for a long time, at least Jeep stood by their car and fixed the bearing for me and offered me an apology package for my annoyance with the issues. All cars have issues, just need to decide which ones you can live with or without. For me, I am keeping this till 100k when the warranty is out, then I will decide what is next at that time on the market, happy shopping!

I had rented the JGC for two days earlier in a business trip. The rental totally changed my perception of the Jeep brand. The drive was smooth and the internal furnishing and electronics are as good as my other car, which was BMW Z4. At the conclusion of the rental, the truck was rear-ended by a Toyota Camry. The Camry's hood was badly damages, but the JGC has only a very slight impression of Toyota's emblem on its plastic bumper (the rented JGC has no tow hitch). When my wife said she wanted an SUV, that became my first choice. We tested a couple others, but both decided on the JGC. It has only been a couple days, but had been extremely happy with it. Everything comes as expected.

I leased a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited in November, 2013. It has a variety of problems some of which are serious safety issues that both the dealer and Chrysler choose to ignore. The transmission lags and lurches and makes periodic clanking noises. Worse than that, mine has twice run up engine rpms while I was breaking to stop - a serious safety issue. The electronic shifter offers no advantages. but rather is distracting (requiring a look down to verify what gear you are in). During an emergency situation I needed to stop and quickly shift into reverse to avoid a collision. Using this shifter created a delay that almost killed me. Later I learned that Consumer Reports noted the same thing and that this shifter problem could result in doing exactly the wrong thing in an emergency. Both the dealer and Chrysler failed to respond to or act on the problem when I reported it in 2013. The now identified problem of assuring that the vehicle is in park is a part of this same problem. Several other problems none of which are fixed. Thankfully, my lease is almost over.

Averaging about 25 mpg in mixed driving with winter blend diesel. Fit and finish is flawless. Found a delivery checklist at Jeep Garage dot org and went over the Jeep with a fine tooth comb upon receipt, no issues. More snow headed our way this weekend so we'll see how the 4wd system works. So far, I am loving this vehicle. Truth be told, this is the nicest vehicle that I have ever owned, and I have owned quite a few.

This vehicle has great potential. This Jeep could be great and has many likeable and commendable attributes. This Jeep has two issues; one rather substantial. The Audio/Nav system is basically the electronic brains of the vehicle and it has bugs, lots of bugs. The bigger issue is the transmission, it is awful. Perhaps it's not widespread (I hope it's not) and it's just my particular jeep but I have never driven a more balky transmission. It lurches, it has delays, it feels like their is a disconnect between the pedal and acceleration. In summary it is the opposite of smooth :( If it is fixable, I'll be overjoyed...If not, extremely disappointed.

Brand New 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been in the shop for 18 days in the 38, I have owned the car. Transmission phantom shifts and revs unprovoked. There is a knocking in the front end when braking that the dealer said was an issue then came back to say that knocking is "normal" for all 2014 JGC. Also the same climate issues that other reviews state. I am a lifelong Jeep customer. Owned 6 in 20 years. This will be our last one.

My lease on a 2011 Mercedes E-350 four matic was expiring & I drove ALL the high end suvs, & NOTHING comes close to my Summit!! The Mercedes M class seats are a pain to put down, expensive for gas & insurance, the Audi don't give a decent lease payment, same for the BMW X-5. A lot of suvs also don't have avail the active headlights, which are awesome!!I have had no problems with anything, gas mileage is about 19 city & 25 highway. A really fab vehicle!!

I purchased the Summit after many months of study and test driving 2013 and 14 models. I needed a step rail for family member safety and ability to use the vehicle. At the time of delivery I was informed Chrysler did not have a step rail that would fit the Summit. I could not believe it so I took delivery thinking they were wrong. A 2nd Chrysler dealer said there must be a problem in the computer because it showed 2014 as accepting the step rail but my VIN not accepting the step rail. As of today, no one has a step rail and I have a $52,000 car my wife can not get into and drive. No after market available either. I googled the problem and found a Jeep Forum question dated Oct 2013. Augus 2015. The jeep is the best vehicle for ride, comfort and safety both in town and on road trips. I had problems with AC in the beginning which were fixed by an computer update. The problem was on a series of Durango and Grand Cherokee which Chrysler updated with TBS. Also had problem with filler cap alignment which was finally fixed by my local dealer by ordering the housing and filler cap using a VINN for a 2016 Grand Cherokee. The part numbers for both filler housing and cap had not changed but I measured the housing rubber gap carefully and determined there was a difference. The service manager at Lee Chrysler in Fort Walton is extremely helpful and fixed it all under warranty. They had tried a new filler cover in 2015 but that did not fix the problem. One of the reasons I have continued to purchase Jeep/Chrysler products is because of my outstanding service. I no longer need the step rail. I do not think Chrysler has made one for this model but there are some after market versions available. I did not buy one of those because they did not integrate fully like the ones Chrysler makes for the other Grand Cherokee models. By that I mean they either hug down below the vehicle or extended outside the wheel line which increased the total width of the vehicle of made it more likely to drag. Overall, the best vehicle I have ever owned. The safety stuff really works. Visibility is great and other drivers back off.

This car replaced my 2012 Nissan Murano SL AWD. Before I test drove the Grand Cherokee I swore by Nissan... Imagine my surprise when I found out that for the same $ I can be driving a v8, have real leather, navi, xm and a bunch of other things, like ground clearance, a lot more safety features, way better built body and (most importantly),an extremely reliable 4x4 system that NEVER overheats leaving me stranded! I love this truck that feels like a truck, despite being almost the same size as Murano! I test drove so many suv's and crossovers before getting this one with 20" wheels... No words, for the money (and otherwise) this is the best car you can get, bar none. Nothing else can compare.

Just bought the Overland 4x4 V6 and I do love it. However, it appears that it still has glitches. I would give it 5 stars but my must have Samsung Galaxy Note 3 can't pair with the Uconnect/Nav/Stereo system. Confirmed with manufacturer that it's still behind in addressing the issue. In fact, if you look at their compatibility list, it's a short list. Pathetic that Jeep/Chrysler/Uconnect can't address this issue. Also, there appears to be some concerns with the Front Collision Warning system. Many can't verify if this system actually works. Also, system appears to work differently when Adaptive Cruise Control is on versus off. Hope Chrysler reads this and address these issues.

I leased a 2014 grand cherokee overland. I have 5,300 miles on it and has been in the garage over 15 times. It has a vibration in the steering wheel at 70 mph, which 90% of the dealers consider normal. The heat and a/c goes wild, you can have it set on 68 and it will blast you with 150 degree air. I used my electronic thermometer, having set 68 degrees on both sides the passenger temp came out at 152 degrees and the driver side came out at 64 degrees. If you are interested in purchasing a 2014 grand cherokee test drive it first at 70mph and set the heat at a certain temperature. The dealers have no cure cause they all do it.

I'm very happy and impressed with my new Jeep purchased 2013 between christmas and New Years. The vehicle feels solid, smooth, and is fun to drive. My search for the best SUV started early 2013 with a 2013 BMW X5 loaner while my wife's car was in for service. I test drove them all, but with the focus on a two-row, mid-size that provided good handling (for and SUV), decent acceleration and lots of leg room all around. I did not want too much storage with the school bus feel. Exterior styling and luxury interior with a large touch control/nav. screen along with a good sound system also on the wish list. The Summit provided all of these things and much more, like strong off road abilities.

Bought our 2014 V8 equipped Overland in April. We really liked the premium features when compared to our previous 2004 Durango. The air ride shocks make the truck ride better than ANY truck I have experienced. As well, we've gotten as high as 26 MPG at 62 - 65 mph, exceptional if you ask me. However, we've had this truck in the shop 6 times already for: electronics, bad radio display, oil pan replacement, recalls, etc. Past experience with other brands of vehicles tell me that I should plan on selling this truck right before the warranty expires.

I traded in a Honda pilot as my Honda pilot had the VCM issues. This car is so quiet on the highway compared to Honda. It definitely feels more luxurious than a Honda pilot. The ride in the car is good considering it's a true SUV. However I would advise you before purchasing this car to try out the heat controls in the vehicle. On a cold day turn it to manual at 60° and see how hot the air comes out the vents. It turns the car into a sauna and then goes a complete reversal and blows cold air in. The Jeep dealership told me that is because even in manual mode it's behaving like a thermostat trying to get the car of 60°. For this reason alone I hate driving the vehicle.

I bought 2014 GC Limited 4x4 in October, and have just under 3,000 miles on it. It works fine. No trips to dealer about anything. I've read all the negative reviews, and I'm sure if there were problems, they'd have shown up already, so I guess I'm lucky. Only complaint is no CD player, except at optional outrageous cost. Knew that when I bought it, so having no CD player wasn't a deal breaker. The GC really paid off in December and January with this crazy, snowy weather. One idiosyncrasy--when I clean touchscreen (and vehicle is completely "Off"), temp. resets to "Low" setting. Must be residual electric charge in screen even when "Off".

I've had the Overland Grand Cherokee for about a month and have put about 1,200 miles on the car. I'm very happy with the technology in the car, the ride, comfort, and looks. I have read complaints about the transmission lag. I agree there is a bit of a lag but I suspect it has to do with the eco mode. When you put the car in sport mode or take out of the eco mode it gets better. It doesn't really bother me as if I wanted a fast car I would not have bought an SUV. I have also read about problems with the U Connect system as well as the Navigation. I haven't seen any yet and I'm happy with the system. Overall I'm very happy with the Jeep.

I recently purchased the GC Overland in late January. I traded a smaller Honda Accord sedan for this SUV and I am loving every second of it. My Jeep is the beautiful gold/cashmere and I received it with complimentary tinting from the dealer since I was waiting for several days for it to arrive. I live in MS and it handles the rough and lower quality roads we have SO much better than my Accord did because of the bigger wheels and better suspension setup. The 20" wheels that come with the Overland really bring the car together and make it look so much more expensive than it actually was for me. The engine and transmission really make the car feel so much more responsive and sporty than an SUV.

I reviewed the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit when it was a month old. Now, with over 60,000 miles and 30 plus months of experience, I really believe this is a GREAT SUV. I have had no issues. There have been a couple of recalls, and I make sure to do all of the scheduled maintenance on time. It is a joy to have a trouble free, capable and comfortable SUV. Gas milage on the highway, and in mixed city/highway driving is better than promised. The local dealership did not offer a great buying experience, but the maintenance shop team is really impressive. I use an iPhone, iPad and kindle fire - and connecting to the Bluetooth has been effortless. The navigation is a bit slow to plot the course, but after it does, the location ability and directions are excellent. I don't work for the auto business, so I don't have special loyalties. But I Love This Jeep! My original review below... Purchased Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit a month ago. Already have 2k miles on it and it is indeed a joy to drive. Handles in snow and high winds beautifully. The electronics are a bit overwhelming in the first few days - best to plan a few 10 minute parking times to play with adjustments. I found lots of great features in the menus. Love it so far. And the weather has given the SUV a real workout. But it is an amazingly comfortable, quiet and nice riding vehicle!

I have been driving German vehicles for years now and I decided to take a detour and give jeep a try. Paid $45,580 (much less than my BMW X6) and have been very happy. I love the transmission because it "feels" German which equates quality. Same with the interior; the steering column is fantastic and the touch screen is simple to figure out and amazing agile. I have read many reviews trashing this car and I don't understand because I have had not one issue with the car since it's purchase last August. I drive nearly 100 miles a day and enjoy every mile of it. Many of my co-workers have driven it to lunch and are always impressed (mainly with the technology and the feel of the transmission).

Bought 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit on Dec 21, 2013. 18 days later it was flatbed towed out of my home garage. It would not shift into reverse. Due to our dissatisfaction, we were kicked up to corporate with Resolution team. A brand new transmission is being installed now, a full 2 wks after being towed. Being told from service dept that it is taking longer to install than anticipated, as it is a bigger job than they thought. That makes the customer feel confident. Virtually no communication from corporate or dealership. Do not want this "new" majorly repaired car back. Problem with the transmission seems to be happening with many of the new purchases. I purchased my Grand Cherokee in July of 2013. I have the 2014 model. Since the beginning this car has been problems. Originally it was said that the system was new, that is why no one had any real knowledge on what to do when I had a problem. I have taken it in 8 times only for them to find one or two problems. The rest they said they can fix if it is not acting up at the time. I have had issues like the sunroof being stuck open, the dashboard going out, transmission not shifting correctly, radio went out, buttons on door won't lock them, just to name a few. I wish I had know then what I know no, I would have saved my money and my time. If you are in the market for a car this is not it.

Safety hazard; Mirrors and columns obstruct vision - big time. Dangerous!!! GPS; Use your phone or buy another car. GPS tends to gives bogus directions. It sends me in/out of the freeway for no reason. Hum; car hums. Dealer says "Hemi hum", period - end of story. They demonstrated that other GC do the same. Radio; Volume must be adjusted and re-adjusted each time we change AM to AM and back. If you do so - to avoid commercials - buy another car. Dealership acknowledged the problem, demonstrated that other 2014 GC do the same and replaced the radio - to no avail. Reception is very weak as well. Too many useless buttons on steering wheel. Other electronic features are inadequate as well.

I, like many others, have had constant issues with the Navigation system and slow hesitation when the transmission shifts gears. I have had this vehicle for 2 months, and it is now in the shop for the 3rd time related to the same issues. Navigation reboots itself or screen goes to static. My radio, both FM and Sirius, have more static than I have ever had with any other vehicle. The outside temp shows the wrong temp, yesterday it showed -40. My MIL light came on again yesterday as well. Each time I take it to the shop, they say that there is a software update to fix the issue, but I am starting to doubt they actually know what the issue is. WAIT for Jeep to fix this before you purchase it!

I absolutely despise driving this vehicle due to the lower shift gear hesitation when accelerating from a stopped position. We've tried a few computer updates but it didn't help. It's a shame b/c the rest of the vehicle is great - very comfortable, smooth ride, great styling, etc. When I tow the issue is less noticeable b/c its forced to move thru the gears more quickly but then I only get 11.5 mpg. Whenever people tell me they are thinking about purchasing one, I hand them my keys for a test drive. I always get them back with a "No way." I'm skeptical of any review that can overlook this major issue.

I have had nothing but problems with my new $50K Jeep GC limited. Transmissions clanks when shifting. Hesitates when trying to speed up. The uconnect went out and had to be replaced. Touch screen went out. Rear hatch will not open when pressing the remote control. Rear hatch inside trim fell off. Door locks takes several attempts to open the door. GPS is very unreliable. Set the radio to a station and turn it back on and it goes to another station. But the worst problem is the blind spots around the vehicle, I have almost gotten into several accidents because of the poor visibility. Each time I have taken the vehicle into the dealer it is like pulling teeth to get them to honor the warranty. UPDATE. After owning it less than a year I had to sell the vehicle. It was to unrealiable and most of all I could not stand the clanking of the transmission. Both the dealer I bought the Jeep from and the Jeep corporation refused to deal with problem. The dealer refused to test drive it to confirm my complaints. Now Jeep has a recall out for the transmission problem. In the mean time I lost $20.000, thank you Jeep.

I cannot believe how impressed I am with the ride quitness, the engine, and transmission. The ride is much better than my Mercedes. The fit/finish and drivetrain puts my wife's 2012 GMC Acadia to shame! I am hard to impress when it comes to cars. I have owned BMW's, Mercedes, Honda's, Acura's, Volvo's, and GMC's, but this diesel Jeep GC is by far my most favorite. I bought this car in March and it has been broken from day 1.The lights in the air conditioning panel never lit up but some of the others did. I asked the sales person about it and he said "those lights don't illuminate in this model". I brought the car back for service. They kept my car for the day, 'ran some updates' and they still didn't light up. In addition my trunk wasn't opening 90% of the time. I was told if they couldn't duplicate the problem it couldn't be fixed. I took it to another service center instead. The whole light panel had to be replaced and updates hadn't been done at all to my car from before I bought it. Three trips later my trunk still wont open most of the time.

It's incomprehensible to me that Jeep continues to ignore the problems on the 14 GC. There are innumerable reports of issues with this vehicle, and frankly, I'm very suspect of any positive reviews. My 14 Limited was purchased in July and it has been to the shop at least 7 times. I'm in rental cars constantly, and the vehicle is still not right. From the transmission, to the unintentional radio presets clearing, to the issues with the driver seat (now being replaced), etc., etc. And thousands of people are having similar issues. Less than 6k miles, and it's been an expensive, time consuming mess.

I've been driving a long list of German cars over the past 20 years - in fact this is my first American car. My last vehicle was a BMW X6. After two weeks with my GC Summit, I have to admit that it's fun to drive, has excellent performance, great fuel economy for a 5K plus pound vehicle, and is quiet. There are some differences in interior fit and finish quality. Some of the plastic on the center console looks cheap and is in stark contrast to the generally great quality of the dash/instrument panel and seating. Overall, however, for a car with a list prices of nearly $25K less than an X6, it's a great value.

Negative consumer reviews here and elsewhere stopped me from looking at 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Six months later, I went to a Jeep dealer and checked out a 4wd GC Limited. Chrysler jacked up the prices by about $300 (probably to cover all the warranty expenses on the earlier production models), so I guessed they had fixed all of the problems. Bought one, and now have 1100+ miles on it & it runs fine. No transmission pbs., no touch screen/UConnect pbs. Quiet, comfortable, rides & handles well. Fit & finish is so good, you'd never think you were in a Chrysler product. We're a two car family, & this is our 1st vehicle since 1995 to actually achieve the EPA mpg numbers. 5/12/2016: Still very pleased with the Jeep Grqand Cherokee Limited. I have had only one problem with it which occurred in October 2015. The Climate Control system went totally haywire (HVAC and defrost front & rear). Dealer replaced center stack, but that didn't solve problem. Had to replace a controller module under the hood and that did the trick. Otherwise, trouble free, and a very enjoyable vehicle to own and drive. I do mostly city driving with occasional highway trip. Mostly get 17+ mpg, but on the highway I have gotten as high as 27 on long trips.

We have owned our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for 5 months. Tomorrow will be the fifth time it is going in the shop. We have transmission problems that are dangerous, problems with the radio which controls the heat/ac/clock/navi, the speedometer blanked out at one time and the abs breaks maded the car almost come to a complete stop on a highway. The Jeep dealership continues to do "computer updates" to the car and it continues to have problems. Now we also have a squeak in the back. Beautiful car but terrible reliability! Not safe to drive!!!!!!! Do Not Buy.

I have owned 3 cars and all have been the Jeep brand. I purchased the Limited with Lux II package and couldn't be more happy with the build quality, extra features and fuel economy (as compared to the Wrangler). My 30 mile/day trip averages 19 to 20 mpg's, but is up to 21-22 on highway driving. A tank of gas will last me two weeks with my standard driving routines. I have read reviews regarding problems with the UConnect system (the screen going blank or slow to no response), the electronic shifter being difficult to get used to, and the panoramic sunroof leaking. I am fortunate to have had none of these problems.

I have had my 3.6L Limited for about 5 weeks. I like the features, and find the cabin very comfortable. Having been a Grand Cherokee owner for 23 years, I would have preferred to get the basic one, but the navigation was only available with the upgrade. The only problem I have had is "phantom shifting". Once in a parking lot, I stopped at a crossroad and when I tried to head thru the intersection, the engine revved up, and I was in neutral. Another time, I was driving about 35 mph, when the engine suddenly revved up, an I lost forward momentum. This time it was in second gear. Big problem if the car slows at highway speed and one is being tailgated!! There will be no brake lights.

I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. I love it, but lately it spends more time in the shop than at my house. I have not had any radio issues, but I have had transmission issues that Jeep does not seem to know how to fix. I have a little over 8000 miles and currently it is in the shop with the mechanics trying to figure out how to put my transmission back together. We spent a lot of money on this car so we would not have these issues. I would say to anyone looking at this vehicle.....wait until they work out all the issues with this transmission before you invest in this Jeep.

Overall I like this Jeep so far. I drive 1000 miles for work per week. I track my milage at fuelly.com . I don't get the 24 as promised with 8 spd transmission… I get a solid 21 in my last 17 fill ups. I got into a bit of a traffic snag where I had to slam on the breaks etc, it handled far better than I expected it would. Two bad faults, my dashboard keeps going out, dealer doesn't know of a fix, and my transmission lags, sometimes stays in higher gears when breaking, and occasionally 'clunks' Those concerns aside its been 8200 miles and I just hope the dash fails so it can be fixed in warranty.. that seems expensive. My NAV sometimes freezes and I have to shut/restart the car to fix.

Im at 6500 miles and the car has been at the shop 6 times. The navigation system has not worked correctly the entire time. It will not show the correct location, so is useless. They have done 3 updates and are currently installing the 3rd radio as we speak trying to resolve the issue. Not the quatlity or the aggrevation I was expecting. Not to sure about the transmission either it seems to not shift correctly downhill it runs up the rpm's. If this issue isnt resolved this time looks like I will be invoking the lemon law. I waited along time for this car at this point its a dissappointment.

8000 miles. Ride and design much better than my 2010 Limited. Averaging 23 to 26 mpg. Comfortable to drive. 8-speed transmission is very clunky. I was so concerned I took it to the dealer and they said no problem. The clunks when coming to a stop remain concerning. Never had such a rough, unrefined transmission in a car, not sure I trust it. V6 is capable and fuel efficient but I do miss my V8. Radio had to be reprogrammed because it would not save Bluetooth phone pairing. There was a service bulletin on that issue. Update - 35000 miles. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has proven to be extremely reliable. My wife loves it and will not let me trade it in (I have never kept a vehicle this long). The transmission has smoothed out so that I now consider it to be remarkable - it never hunts for a gear and shifts are barely noticeable. I purchased the Jeep very early after release so I think a software update corrected the transmission issues described in my original post. Mileage averages about 26mpg - we have very little stop and go driving, mostly rural. I no longer miss the V8, the V6 has plenty of power for normal driving. The Jeep is excellent in snow and ice (we are very rural so we experience this a lot) because of its very good four wheel drive system - traction was considerably improved when I got rid of the stock tires and put on real all terrain/winter tires. The stock tires were terrible. I think the headlights are a bit weak on low beam. The fog lights help when the low beams are on. The high beams are quite useful - used a lot in our area. I found that the "full size" spare I paid extra for was really just a full size temporary tire and not a regular tire. I am displeased with Jeep about the spare tire - its a Jeep, a full size spare should be a real tire not a glorified temporary tire. The weak low beams, poor stock tires and the aforementioned spare tire are my only complaints after almost four years of ownership. Those complaints are very minor in the overall picture. We have had no problems with the Jeep and are very happy with it.

A big dissappointment

Stay away from this vehicle, I am having nothing but mechanical issues with this. With in a month a component in the radio went out (which controls a lot of features in the vehicle) and it had to be replaced. After two months the instrument panel went out as well as the gauges quit working, now they are ordering me a new dash panel. I have had this car close to two months and have nothing but problems. Please research this vehicle, as well as other vehicles, before buying the cherokee. I have noticed in the jeep forums that the same issues are occurring with other people. I wish I had never traded my other vehicle.

We just returned from a 2247 mile roundtrip and averaged 26.7 mpg including four days in Denver. Our Overland has just over 3000 miles on it and I fully expect the gas mileage to continue to improve. My wife wanted to wait for the new diesel, but I did not see paying $4500 extra was justified. A cruising range of over 600 miles for a gasoline V6 SUV is exceptional. The Overland comes fully loaded and is by far a much better than the ML320 CDI we previously owned. It is also a much better value than the MB ML. We put on over 500 miles per day to and from Denver and we were very comfortable in the Overland. It is quiet, powerful, comfortable, economical for its size and a joy to drive. We rated the performance a "4" as this is an SUV not a V8 powered car. Update @30,000 miles: Once you have used the shift lever awhile you get used to its positioning. We have had zero issues with the 8-speed automatic. Yes, there has been a software update or two but I respect Jeep for updating its product. We get ALL of our regular service at our local Jeep dealer. They know their products and if there is an update or recall that needs to be applied they do it. One stop shopping.

Bought the Summit in August, so I am just under two months in, and it is one heck of an improvement from my 2009 Overland (Hemi), which was very reliable and had very few problems. Ride and handling are improved, and the V-6 has plenty of power for just about anything short of pulling a large trailer. There was a problem with the Blind Spot Monitoring system, and the dealer just replaced its control module (less than an hour). My first trip during the first week yielded ~26 MPG, mostly on the highway. While I never buy a vehicle solely upon gas mileage, this was a nice bonus. Combined driving yields 22-23 MPG. The ZF 8-speed transmission makes this Jeep work well.

Bought my GC Overland August 2014 and now close to the 50,000 mile mark. It is the V8 version with the extra technology package. Drives like a true luxury car - the ride and the handling are superb and I still get excited taking it to the road every day. This vehicle had very few minor hiccups and recalls and these were all taken care of without cost to me. This Grand Cherokee is a beauty inside and out, roomy, great dual-pane sunroof; The 8.4 inch screen is really the right size to have while driving, tons of features on the electronics. I intend to keep it for years to come!

I had a 2012 JGC SRT and had nothing but problems ranging from the transmission to the radio not working. Purchased this 2014 Overland and found out yesterday that the axel was installed improperly (according to the dealer) or that the axel "popped out" according to Chrysler. Shifting is clunky, problems with freezing screen. WHen on NAV it shows radio instead but other, window overlubed causing oil streaks and passenger seatbelt not retracting. I have only owned this Jeep for 1 month and 4 days. Don't think i will ever buy another one.

Although I like the design, ride and comfort, the quality is severely lacking. This is my 2nd Jeep in a few years. I was really hoping they got it right this time. Cons: 1. Uconnect system has impressive specs, but doesn't work as designed. Had my radio replaced once due to system crashes, poor radio receptions am/fm/sat, nav issues, the list goes on. I am a software engineer and it is inconceivable to me that Chrysler would release such a buggy system without comprehensive testing. 2. Transmission is better than my 2011 JGC, but at lower speeds and gears is a real clunker. It's scary some of the sounds it makes. I'm really apprehensive about it breaking down one of these days.

I bought the Jeep GC Overland because I like the styling and read a great review by Warren Brown in the Wash Post. After owning the car for 2 months, I wish I hadn't purchased it. I've had the car in for service twice already, both times due to faulty computer issues (radio presets gone, clock not working, NAV system freezing), and transmission issues. The first time, I was told that they did software updates which should fix the problem, and the 2nd time, I was told that there is nothing wrong with the car (even though they recognize/identify the issue). Apparently, Jeep doesn't have a fix for the issue, so the issue doesn't exist.

Jeep has less then 1500 miles on it.. It had a complete transmission failure which left me stranded in the middle of the road.. Could not shift into neutral it would immediately go back into park. I was stranded in the middle of the road with traffic speeding by my Jeep. It was one of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had..I could not push the car to the side of the road it was stuck right where it broke. Finally Managed to get out of my car after several people blocked traffic and routed it around the stranded jeep. I opened the hood all the transmission fluid coolant or transmission fluid I do not know which was on the ground. Chrysler needs to fix this is completely un

This is my second 2014 Grand Cherokee. Why? Because at 500 miles, the first one had a total and complete transition failure. Like could not turn the car off, take it out of gear, nothing. Should have walked away then but we had a bad experience with a Suburban once, had it taken back under lemon law, and our next 'burb was great. So my new car, a 2014 JGC Summit has had the following: Nav System failures - shows me in a completely different city than I am in, constant radio issues (we are now on radio number 3), phone connect issues, remote start doesn't turn on A/C, and now there are days when the car simply will not start. At all. Chrysler is crap. Beautiful car that will not run.

It happened at 50 miles and they said moisture got in spark plug. The dealer did not offer a loaner right away and I had company coming. They ended up giving me a mini van. The Jeep seemed great at first, but now at 800 miles the UConnect System is horrible. The screen often turns black or freezes. The GPS sometimes shows the Jeep several hundred miles from the actual location. The clock doesn't keep the correct time so we have to update the clock at least once a week. We have also started getting a red screen saying the phone needs service that flashes on the screen, but then disappears. If we knew what we know now, we would have never bought the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. We spent a lot of money on something that is now just a pain and already headed back to the dealership for service.

In addition, backup camera not functioning properly, can't open lift gate, and UConnect keeps cutting out completely! The car drove like a dream for the first 500 miles. I'm at 8,200 and every mile in between has been a nightmare. The transmission slams up and down, causing a terribly uncomfortable ride-and remember it has 8 gears so it is constantly changing gears. In the morning, the transmission has become so rough I feel as though I am being rear ended. I have had it at two different dealerships to solve the issues and both have told me it is normal-and if it something were actually wrong a fault light would illuminate. I was issued a case manager with jeep corporate. She refused to return calls-I went three days calling her three times before she picked up.

I have about 3500 miles on my new Grand Cheorkee limited. My first problem started almost immediately, the touch screen on the dash went out. I had no air conditioning no radio no navigation system nothing at all. When I took it in to the service department it suddenly started to function and they said unless it fails when they can see it they can not fix it., one day I was able to get it into the dealer when it had failed and they did fix it but it took three weeks to get the part in. My next problem is the transmission it shifts very bad between 1st and 2nd and from 2nd back into 1st. The dealer calls it a Jeep characteristic. You feel a clunk when it shifts and you hear the clunk.

Uconnect issues. Key Fob liftgate problems. Remote Start HVAC problems. Leather seats and dash prematurely cracking. Uconnect a joke compared to other systems: no convenience features such as Pandora, iheart radio, etc. Voice dictation laggy. Yelp search is a joke.

Took delivery of my new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Drove it less than a mile from dealer. Transmission would not shift out of first, and radio would flip continuously. Faulty steering column control sensor. Took 1.5 weeks for the repair. Drove it for a week and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Dealer said they could not duplicate the error. Searching forums, I found others have this problem. Faulty ABS module. The dealer contacted Chrysler at my insistence, who said the ABS module is bad. It is on national B/O. I have been a loyal Jeep customer for years. Just know you are beta testing this vehicle. Never again!! Chrysler said they will not cover a rental, to make matters worse.

I got the Overland with light interior and the V6. Cons: -The felt stuff they used for the "misc" holder on the top of the console cannot be cleaned. I have no idea what they were thinking. It's just pure stupidity. -The silver plastic on the center console looks and feels really cheap to me. It also scratches easily. -I don't like the dry/broken-earth background on the stereo. Neutral: -The carpet isn't that great. -The plastic isn't that great. -The grill on the Overland, where it's just the outline of the "teeth" in chrome doesn't look very good. Pros: -I didn't like the flat/matte dark wood at first. I like it now. I think that was forward design. -V6 is peppy

To make a long story short, I picked up my 2014 JGC on June 13 with 12 miles. Made a right out the dealer lot and the radio (8.4a) would not stop flipping. Transmission would not shift out of first gear. Took it right back to the dealer. The steering column sensor was bad, which controls the radio and transmission. This part had to be approved and shipped by Chrysler. It took over a week for the dealer to receive the part, and another couple days to install the item and test the vehicle. I understand that mistakes happen and you can not expect perfection. However, a DOA vehicle, Chrysler's taking so long to repair a vehicle, and other little defects cause me to questions the build quality.

Loving our new vehicle but totally misled by dealer around iPhone connectivity. They even programmed all our four iPhones for us before we left the dealer. But, after several reprogramming and calls to the dealer, they told us the car is not compatible with iPhones. Other major deficiency is a back up camera or sensors.

Blown away

Two of our 4 kids are in college now and it was time to sell our T&C for a smaller car. Did an intense analysis looking for a new SUV: cheched 4Runner, Explorer, Mazda 7 and 9, Chevies. Nothing came close to the new 2014 GC in value and price. Mine Limited with roof, nav, hitch, everything heated was 34.5K before taxes - no other car had that amount of feature for comparable money. The quality of interior, driving experience, fuel economy (17.8 in city, 24 on the road - 8speed transmission!), quietness, the number of gadgets, electronics - totally satisfied! So far got 2000 miles.

Bought brand new on April 5. While driving home, 'Service Air Suspension System Immediately' light went on. Returned it, it was 'fixed', on way home it again went off, and kept going off, sometimes 3-4 cycles worth. Back to dealership. When dropped off, had 1060mi on it, 360 of which were spent back and forth for repairs. They have had the Area Tech look at it, and also gotten the Engineering & Parts Development Dept's involved, as well as the company that designed the suspension system. No luck, Has been there a combined 3 weeks for same problem. Beware: When Jeep has problem, it becomes yours too. Case is now in hands of settlement team, but nothing is moving forward. Can you say lemon?

I love this jeep. The Navigation, Sound System, Hemi V8 power. I can connect my iphone wirelessly to the system and listen to all my songs. Seats are comfortable, Vehicle looks amazing. Got the 20 inch wheels. I drive almost all locally and short distances so my first mileage check im getting 14.7 mpg. Only thing I might have done differently is go with another color. I chose the green which usually looks black its so dark.

Loving this baby!

Second update with over three and a half years of ownership. Still love it just as much as the day I bought it and will continue to drive for a long time! It was recalled due to people having issues knowing if it was in park before exiting vehicle. Seriously? I've never had any issue and always made sure I looked at the actual screen to see it was in the appropriate gear. No issues with my Jeep at all for me. Updated review after ownership- I have owned this car for three years. While it has had a few recalls, they were for minor issues. I have absolutely loved owning this vehicle. I plan to drive it for a very long time and I am very happy with this purchase! Original review-I traded in a 2013 Honda Pilot that I only owned for 6 months. When I bought the Pilot I actually wanted a Jeep, but due to peer pressure, I caved and bought the Pilot. Well after 6 months of driving what felt like a cardboard box on wheels, I traded for the Jeep Limited. I LOVE this car. It is very responsive and smooth. The interior is exquisite and I love the detailing on the leather seats. The exterior is actually what sold me on this SUV. It looks so refined and streamlined. I actually didn't even realize that it was different than the 2013 models, but oh boy is it. Keyless ignition is awesome. Love the fact that I don't have to dig for my keys in the bottom of my purse.

So far so good!

I've only had my GC for a few days but I'm very impressed so far. The ride is outstanding and quiet, the gas mileage averages over 20mpg in mixed driving and the engine has plenty of power. The ONLY option over the base model I opted for was 4WD; everything else comes standard! It has leather wrapped doors and steering wheel, touch screen everything and Bluetooth, satellite radio, automatic headlights, paddle shifters and steering wheel controls, auto climate control and much more. I'm really not missing anything!

Hot off the lot!

I traded in a 2012 Chevy Avalanche LS for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I am very impressed with the overall build of the vehicle. I can get the same gas range out of the Cherokee as if I was driving the Avalanche. It has a 24 gallon tank with a range of about 620 miles which is very comparable to my Avalanche. Gas mileage has improved in comparison and my insurance dropped $200 every 6 months after switching vehicles. I was not expecting to see that much of a dramatic drop and makes it even more worth the trade! The interior has a touch of European styling and very simple to understand. All my controls are on a touch screen.

Traded in my Lincoln MKZ as I am a SUV man at heart. I like technology in my car and the Jeep has it. Not sure if this is the Mercedes influence but it has more technology then my Lincoln did. Ride is amazingly quiet for an SUV almost as quiet as the Lincoln. Motor has plenty of power for everyday driving and 8 gear transmission shifts smoothly even when you get on it. Seats are firm but comfortable with excellent lumbar support. The speech access system has its quirks I will elaborate in the suggested improvements section. The Jeep is 2 weeks old and I have 1300 miles on it currently getting 19 MPG overall.
