For the price, this car is a steal! I think Ford should advertise it more, but it's kind of nice to be in a semi-exclusive club as you really don't see too many of them.

Overall a great car, with a few little problems

This is by far the most comfortable car I have ever owned. It is quiet, doesnt wear you out driving long distances, nor in traffic. I have been quite satisfied with my Taurus. Only issues I have had have been a small rip on the steering wheel, which the dealer repaired, and the paint. I am not sure of the root of the problem, but it seems to ding pretty easy on the plastic parts, ie the front bumper. The gas mileage isnt what is advertised, but a k&n air filter boosted mpg by 2. The headlights have taken time to get used to, as they are shutter high beam and are noisy. The parental controls on the car are a problem as well as they seem to default to as another reviewer calls it nanny mode. It blocks certain xm channels when engaged, and require a master key to change, and if you do not have both keys its annoying. These problems are not a huge deal, but they are a problem. I am very pro taurus, and love the cargo space. I am constantly amazed at how big the trunk and overall space is. Everytime I am loading it, and think that something isnt going to fit, it does, its awesome. I actually put more into the car then a friend with a newer explorer. The look is awesome, it is truly a beautiful car with lines in all the right places. The tire and rim package is the best looking market wheel combo I have seen, and I get compliments about it all the time. The factory spoiler also looks great. I got the white leather in it, and this is the first car I have had with this, and I have noticed that bluejeans do cause staining to the leather, but with the proper leather cleaner it is not permanent, and it is best to put a sealer on the seat to keep this from happening again. One thing I have noticed about Ford in general, is the dealer you use, makes the difference. I have gone to 5 different dealers from ga, va, tn, il x2, and have had good experiences in most but I have noticed a difference. One dealer would not fix the steering wheel and the other in the town did. The place I bought the car from had horrible service so I started using the one in my town, and they have always been great. So if you are getting a ford, do not be distraught from buying a ford because of the service, just find the good ones, as they are more common then the bad ones.

Not a Ford guy, but I love it

I've had my Taurus SEL for three years and 60,000 miles. I shopped the Impala, 300, Cadenza, Avalon and others before picking the Taurus and am happy with my choice (I went into my search expecting to buy an Impala or Cadenza). Whether I bring my golf buddies and four sets of clubs to the course, or my wife and I cross country, or run a quick trip to the store, it's a comfortable ride and pleasure to drive. The vehicle quality is good. I had one small rattle when new that the dealer promptly fixed, other than that there have been no problems. Everything fits and works. I keep track of all my fuel use. The V6 has averaged 25.71mpg since we got it; not as good as my Impala but pretty good for a big car with plenty of throttle. Edmund's is usually right on with their reviews, but I must disagree with their 'lumbering' handling comment. I've found it to be responsive for a car this size. Furthermore, I've test driven most of the cars in this class and believe the Taurus comparable to them. I love the voice commands, especially with the navigation system. Occasionally there will be problems with voice commands if I speak to quickly or if there is a lot of ambient noise--such as a heavy rain--but it works surprisingly well. There are a lot more things that can be done by voice than I use because I do have trouble remembering all the voice commands.

UNDERRATED!

Look why you are considering a car of this size. Its not small. But it is much roomer and has a more stable feeling than a CAMRY. I disagree with the notion that it is somewhat ponderous around turns. It really rides and handles great. And my other car is a CORVETTE. This car is what it is. Buy a Brass Hat if you can. A one or two year old TAURUS with low miles is an absolute steal. Oh yeah, Get the 3.5L engine. Its quiet and really sooth.

Best car I've ever owned

Been driving 41 years, owned quite a few cars. Prior to this I had a Grand Marquis and a Buick Lesabre, both very comfortable and nice riding cars. The Taurus is very beautiful inside and out. It is a pleasure just being in it. I find the Taurus to be fun to drive, comfortable, quiet, and powerful. Controls are logically positioned and easy to use. Handling and performance are impressive. Seats are comfortable. Personally I like this base models' cloth seats, as there's no need for heating or cooling the seats. But at the dealership I did sit in the models that had leather and they were really nice too. Gas mileage is a little less than what I got in the Lesabre with its 3.6L V6. But really there is nothing I do not like about this car. I love it. I enjoy driving it. It is definitely the best car I've ever owned.

The sleeper !

I have purchased a new car on average every three years since 1968, everything from Corvettes and Cadillac to Volkswagen Beetles. This Ford is the first car that needed no adjustments, no repairs, no squeaks and no rattles since I've owned it. All wheel drive and 365 HP make this one fun car to drive, 18 MPG on average with regular gas, 24 on the highway. It has a huge trunk and can seat five comfortably.

Makes my work "fun"

This is one great cop car .we have Chargers and a new Chevrolet "Caprice" well I always grab the "police Interceptor " keys first (ford does NOT like when you call it a "Taurus" .. Of course we do not have all the "bells & whistles " not even a "aux input jack " or even remote lock/unlock (like the Charger and Chevy ) ..but this car just flies ,and I beat on it every day ..50K so far and NO problems ..It does have the 3.5 Twin Turbo EcoBoost ..

I had to trade the truck that I had for something that was easier to get in and out of due to a back injury. I have had two older Taurus's before and my teenage daughter even has an older one now. I have also had various makes and models of other vehicles over the years, mostly Jeep, Honda, Toyota or Ford. No vehicle even comes close to this baby! Tuxedo Black with black leather, black and aluminum wheels. It is SEXY! There is something also very elegant about it. But I will warn you, even though it is a 4 cylinder engine, (with turbo) it will take off if you press the gas, could get you a ticket if you aren't careful! Love it, pure joy to drive, and turns heads! The color is gorgeous!

You gotta love the Taurus!

The build quality of the new Ford Taurus is very cheap. If this car is driven for any time at all I can't see it lasting more than 4 years. The paint job is horrible! It will scratch at the slightest touch. The craftsmanship is of very low quality. Ford reverted back to the 70's when they built the Taurus. And, it's a shame because the design of the car is very attractive. I truly regret returning to Ford.

AWESOME!!

Traded in my 09 Buick Enclave for this. As everyone knows, nothing rides like a Buick. I can finally see everything at a 4 way stop. This car has everything for music lovers! My USB port is loaded with over 800 songs. Personalized pictures etc. the technology here is amazing!! Nice highway ride, not as nice as the Buick but I doubled my gas mileage!! Seats are comfortable, handles excellent. Red exterior, Sand interior. What a head turner! Navigation is a little weird but I just send directions to my car from Mapquest. You can somewhat even customize your dashboard and even ask for gas prices and it will come up on your screen!

Bang for your buck, great car!

We bought the Taurus SEL AWD V6 after trading our 2010 Escape Limited. Our SEL was upfitted with the 201A package, then they added heated leather, 8 inch touchscreen with voice-activated navigation, moonroof and it was still $5,500 under a Limited. If you don't need the Sony sound and a few other costly and unnecessary options, the upfitted SEL is the better buy. 18" wheels give it a smooth but assertive ride and its a very confident car to drive. The V6 does a great job and surprises you with how well it really pulls consistently from zero to 100+...not neck snapping but very fun. AWD excellent in nasty conditions, very quiet and a great value with incentives and rebates.

2014 Ford Taurus SEL rocks!

2.0 Ecoboost I4. Rated at 32 mpg. Car averages 23-25 mpg highway on premium after 8240 miles. I commute 110 mi/day. Driver assist package is the worst. 15 menu clicks to turn on std cruise control instead of adaptive - defaults to adaptive when the car is shut off. Sony stereo sounds tinny, no bass. Many Sync issues. Can't use it on accessory power. It shuts off automatically and sends a message to start the engine if you want to use the system. Phone doesnt connect consistently after paired. This after new update. Only 2/3 of the heated steering wheel is heated, not the top 1/3. Can't use any climate button on console wearing gloves! Exhaust smell in stop/go traffic sucked in by the heater.
