So I'll start off with the good. The Spark is a great car for those who want some substance but still like being able to buy things besides the car. Paid $12k for an LS Manual, and it's the transmission for this car. The little car scoots and wedges into tight spaces and holds its own even at interstate speeds (85 mph easy). Fuel economy average was 40.3 mpg in my routine driving with a peak of 51.2 on a trip to New Mexico. Love the neoprene and leatherette seats. Now for the bad, I paid for Black Granite $330 option, not worth it. Chips easily near the bottom of the car. Second, my spark had a weird issue where it appeared to be idling rough, dealership refused to investigate or even schedule an appointment with me. I ended up driving an hour a way to visit another and they solved the issue without hesitation. Overall, get the LT Manual you won't regret it!

I bought this car new. It has been in/out of the shop for multiple recalls. Just got it back last week after it was there for 3+ months waiting a transmission replacement.... and it still doesn't run worth a crap! Feels like there is a force against it keeping it from picking up speed. When slowing down, it acts like a stick shift with a bad driver (someone who is not able to use a clutch smoothly)!! It hacks and coughs and it also blows a whistle-like sound out as it comes to a stop. It only has 35,000 miles on it. I know it's a cheap car. Didn't expect anything fancy but reliable... I did expect! Not even close. Not worth the sales price at all.

I miss that little guy!

I always wanted a tiny car, and the affordability of this car allowed me to purchase my first car from the dealer. I was very happy at first because it was so cute and of course I finally had the convenience of being able to park in any space with little to no struggle. The inside looks very cool and modern. I got lots of complements and jokes on it. I had the smallest car at my job. I was very happy with it until after a while. I began to noticed the inconvenience of having a small vehicle when every bump and pot hole felt harsh and loud. I began to get annoyed by the noisy drive, and the AC was not too great during the heat waves we have been going through lately. I began to feel that the car was too small when I took long road trips and my guests could not recline much. Eventually I traded it for a more spacey car. It has been almost two months since I've let go and it is starting to hit me, I miss the little guy. It was convenient for gas, and parking. Sometimes you don't know what you have until its gone.

The little red clown car!

I kind of compared this to a classic Prius(01) I drove for 10 years. The acceleration is not great, the VCT works well but you have to learn how to drive it. Drive it like a regular car, mileage is 39 mpg, drive it like a hybrid and keep the rpms @ or under 2000 rpm, 47 to 50 mpg. Visibility is great, sound system is good quality and the touch screen setup for personal preferences for operation is good.

Never again

Tons of issues. Owned the car going on a year this month. It has spent tons on time in the shop. Transmission is the biggest issue. Chevy dealership(s) no help. Want to sell ASAP. Planning on trading it in soon.

This car is a complete piece of junk. There have been at least 4 recalls since I got it. It's had problems from the A/C compressor needing to be replaced, to the coolant compartment needing replacement because it cracked from the heat due to being made out of plastic!! The battery needed replacement during the first 6 months of purchase and now I'm having transmission and acceleration issues that are serious. If you look http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchSafetyIssues you'll see how dangerous this car is and GM is going to have a serious lawsuit on their hands if anyone gets seriously injured.

Perfect for city, roadtrips, camping, family use

This is my favorite vehicle out of all the cars and trucks I've owned! Although it is a sub-compact car, there is enough storage space for luggage, groceries, camping equipment, and more. The gas prices in Alaska are pretty expensive, but this car helps keep costs low since we are able to top off the tank for about $20 and make it through the week driving to work, daycare, class, grocery shopping, and usual errands. Another reason I love this car is the front wheel drive and traction control make it easy to drive, even in the winters and even in Alaska.

I don't understand why everyone is crying about the fit, finish and/or ride quality? It's a entry level car under $15,000!!! You're not buying a Corvette or Denali... I bought this car for my daughter's first car, it's safe, reliable and affordable. She loves it, it serves the purpose of what it is and my daughter loves it. My daughter is 16yrs old and I'm sure she drives it like a 16yr old girl. It keeps on going!!!

It will get you from here to there.

This is the first BRAND NEW CAR I ever bought. At 24 years old, working a part-time waitressing job this was all I could afford. I've had no real problems with the car. There were a few recalls that my dealership fixed with no problem. (Which my dealership, Mike Anderson Chevrolet of Merrillville is great, BTW.) This car has been reliable and I assume it will continue to be reliable until I have it paid off, at which point I'll be more than ready to trade it in. Just because there is nothing special about this car. It is not even a NICE car. Shocks are HORRIBLE. Speakers are HORRIBLE. Interior is made with cheap materials. It also has really bad blind spots in the back of the car when you're trying to back out of a parking space. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't resulted in an accident yet. The AC is weak and lukewarm, although the heat is great. This engine has no power. There was a time I went to The Dunes and had a really hard time getting up a hilly road. I get an average of 30 MPG combined. Which really isn't spectacular. I know people with Nissan Sentras and a Honda CRVs that get slightly better mileage than I do. It handles alright in the snow for being such a little guy. I previously owned an 2004 Cavalier which was extremely DANGEROUS in the snow. So overall, if you're looking for a cheap car to get from place to place, this car will do it for you, but with no added fun or comfort to the experience.

I bought a 2013 Chevy Spark LS when they first came out. I loved it! Then a recall on the ignition switch, then it was the fuel pump and now this year the air conditioner went out and burned all over my motor. I never heard a recall on that but reading some of the other reviews it should have been. I still Love my car but now It seems so noisy on the road and it sounds like I am driving a tin can. If I hit a speed bump it feels like to me that the front end tires start to shake and the car seems to try to recover..I have the Techno Pink. Hopeful, all the re-calls I had was a good thing and they will make a better car.

Sparky is a great little car!

Very comfy for a small car, doesn't feel tiny on the inside. Acceleration is a little slow but cruises happily at 75+. Getting almost 40 mpg overall. I like the my link system, works with my phone and the navigation app. I'd recommend getting an LT1 over the LS, I looked at both and the extra features are worth it. I'm commuting 32 miles each way and I'm very pleased so far. Front seats are very good for a cheap car. The back seat has a surprising amount of room but the folding seats are pretty hard. Overall a very good value for the price. You should be happy as long as you realize this isn't a Cadillac when you get it.

I've had the car for a few months and put almost three thousand miles on it. I tried the automatic but man, was it lousy. Floorin' it and nothin'. The manual though, fun stuff. I feel like a kid again with my go cart. It's no frills like my go cart but it has AC (not the best but I don't live in Phoenix so whatevs). The sound system ain't that great but I don't care. I got it super cheap and brand new. I love zippin' around town in it. Recently I drove it into the mountains and it was fun! I can imagine the automatic would have sucked up there though. I thoroughly enjoy the interior cloth or whatever it is. Best of all, 38.5 MPG in town. UPDATE 5/12/16 Still love this car. No repairs have been needed. The MPG's have only improved and right now I'm sitting at about 40.5 average.

What a hunk of JUNK !! Bought this fine quality GM product 7 months ago, brand new. Out of the 7 months ? It was at the dealer for 2 months total. 7 month old car with a MASSIVE OIL LEAK from the valve covers, 3 recalls, rear latch breakage and bad tire pressure sensors no one could figure out how to clear the code. Chevy has re-invented the Vega got the "quality" from Yugo & created the Spark. Road noise is horrible !! Fit and finish is a JOKE !! The door chime causes loss of hearing. It's a plastic hot mess. And the black paint is an upgrade ? Junk all the way. Traded it in yesterday on a far more reliable method of transportation. That car should of been recalled & forgotten about.

Have a 2014 Spark LT1 with nearly 18,000 miles on her (I drive a lot). This car has it +'s and -'s, that's for sure. PROS: The driving position is comfortable for me and I have a horrible back, so it's hard finding a car that doesn't cause me pain. This one is kinda fun to drive and handles very well for an econo-car. Roomy cargo area with nearly-flat folding rear seat. Dash is nice and touch-screen radio also works well. MPG is avg. 38+ in mixed driving in Florida (level, but lots of a/c). Recommend dealer installed fog lights for night/bad weather driving. CONS: had bad hesitation problem and lurching at very slow speeds but "cured" by using 89 octane gas. A/c is poor - weak fan.

Transmission & hesitation = traded for a Ford

After numerous trips to 3 different Chevy dealerships to fix horrendous hesitation issues that appeared to be associated with the lousy CVT transmission, and almost getting hit trying to pull out into traffic, I got rid of this car for safety reasons. The Good: roomy for a little car, comfortable overall, fun handling, nice stereo unit/Bluetooth, flat-folding rear seat. The Bad: TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, driveability was scary and got worse as time went on, Chevy dealers cannot fix their own cars (no more GM vehicles for me!), paint scratched easily. I would have kept the car if Chevy would have fixed the problem instead of stupid remarks like, "yeah, I've heard that from other people..." when discussing the horrendous driving characteristics. No one seemed to know what to do... so traded it for a loss for a Ford C-Max. Have now over 15,000 miles on the C-Max, getting better MPG than the Spark (avg. 45.5 MPG mixed driving with a/c on), never returned for any repairs or problems... reliable, comfortable, roomy, handles nice (except large turning radius, but can't have it all), great voice-activated radio/nav., very happy with the Ford!

I love my Spark!

I just bought my 2014 Spark at Davis-Moore. I love this car! It is small but spacious. My tall grandchildren fit comfortably. The little storage area holds more than it appears it would. Going from a 95 Mercury to this is like day and night on gas. It's the cutest little ladybug on the road. Would recommend.

I test drove a 2014 Spark at my local dealership, I noticed the "check engine" light was on when the salesman and I returned to the dealership. I like the car's build so I purchased another Spark, one with more up grades on it, It had only 11 miles on it. I bought the car and after just 3 1/2 weeks, the "Check Engine" light came on in my new Spark while on my way home from work white smoke poured out from under the bottom of the car. I am very disappointed because I was so proud of my little car. I am in a rental waiting on GM to send a new motor

The Spark's main claim to fame is four doors and a real back seat. Compared to the Smart Car and Scion IQ those features leave them behind. The gas mileage is at least comparable and the sound level and ride are much better. Compared to the Fiat 500, rear seat room and access is much better in the Spark, performance is about the same. The new CVT is a great improvement over the previous 4 speed auto. So far I am very impressed.
