Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Venza The Un Toyota or the working mans Q5

Whatisthat? A Venza. (Blank expression from inquiring person). It’s a Toyota, think of it as a Lexus RX350 lite, as they are based on the same K platform. Only this weighs nearly 600 pounds less, has a 4 inch lower roofline which contributes to much better driving dynamics. Oh they say. That pretty much sums up the Venza. Even Toyota didn’t know what this was. Is it a SUV, is it a Wagon, a car, or is it a Crossover? Motor trend hinted that they may have given this the SUV/Truck of the year award in 09 except Toyota insisted that this was a car, and MT wasn’t buying that. The answer is, it’s all of the above. A stylish Crossover really. It even handles pretty well with firmer suspension and decent handling thanks to the 19 inch tires. It really is the Un-Toyota. Think of it as the working man’s Audi Q5, which is probably why the Toyota faithful shunned it. Too bad. This is a great road and commuter car, with limousine like leg room. After cross shopping every SUV/Crossover out there of 2013/2014 vintage, nothing came close to this in terms of features, driving dynamics and price. Came this close to buying an Audi Q5 (we also own a late model Audi), but this was 10K cheaper and really is almost as good as the Audi driving wise. These are now orphans since they were discontinued so major deals are out there. The good: The 2.7 motor is plenty for this vehicle, even with AWD. The shifter location was not the deal breaker I thought it would be and the tiptronic feature does help to motivate things. All the car magazines say get the six because it gets the same MPG. But in the real world the six struggles to get over 20MPG while I’m getting 25 MPG with the four, a 25% improvement. And never once have I said this thing needs more zoom and I currently own some very fast cars (Camaro SS, Lotus). Plus the six is a service nightmare, check out water pump replacement, for example. The seats are very good; much better than any Toyota seat I’ve ever sat in. The backup camera is a nice addition although it and the display can be very to see in bright sunlight. Five hour drives and no issues. The JBL system is also very good, better than any JBL system from the past. Most people complain about the spongy brakes or weak A/C or vague electric steering or the sunroof leaking or making noises, yet this car has none of these issues even at 45K miles. My guess is that as Toyota quality slipped badly over the last decade that may be the factor in these cars. My suggestion is to do a 2 hour drive on all kinds of roads and see if any of these things pop up. The Bad: Toyota paint. This has to be some of the worst automotive paint ever. The attitude black color is beautiful but it’s so soft you can scratch it with your fingernail and chips VERY easy. The amount of orange peel in it on a car that cost’s over 35K is just unacceptable. I hate to see what this is going to look like ten years from now. Next a foot emergency brake, really? Toyota spent so much time designing this huge console that they left no room for a conventional e brake. The leather on the steering wheel and shifter is something I’ve never felt before I’m thinking road kill. The satin mahogany wood looks like I don’t know what. Also I’m not a fan of push button start, I have my reasons. 19 inch wheels look nice and add to the handling, but just wait until it’s time for tire replacement which can cost $1000 or more. The pano roof is nice but only opens about 12 inches max, what’s up with that, as the roof is over 90 inches long. No luggage rack with the sunroof, most other manufacturers offer one. Yet Toyota sees fit to offer no less that 10 cup holders in a vehicle that holds 5 people. The Distance to Empty readout is a joke; it’s off at least 100 miles. Fog Lights, they can’t be turned on unless the low beam headlights are on. These are FOG lights, Toyota you’re supposed to use them when you CAN’T use your headlights because it would reflect back. How come the window sweeps do not remove the morning dew when you roll the windows down? Speaking of windows, why can’t you open the rear window on the hatch without opening the rear hatch? Then there are tire pressure sensors. Toyota uses Tire pressure sensors unlike lot of manufacturers which have moved to using the abs tone ring instead. Each sensor must be manually logged in the Computer with a special device from the dealer. The problem is the computer only stores 4 sensors. People buy AWD because of bad weather and often run snow tires in the winter. This either requires mounting and dismounting on the same rim, a considerable expense or getting spare wheels with spare pressure sensors and having to take to the dealer and reprogram the computer each time to recognize which sensors are installed, also a considerable expense(fortunately you can clone aftermarket sensors now a days if you “know” the original numbers). Also these sensors tend to leak air due to corrosion and have a finite battery life, all of wh

The roof is almost entirely glass (hail, hail Ceaser), heat monster, no memory seat (position 1 or 2), leather not perforated for cooling. A bit too much road noise as well just driving on typical road surfaces.

We have had this vehicle for about 6 months and we love it. Its a nice blend of luxury and practicality. I like the way it handles in turns(flat in turns), its smooth riding on the highway, very comfortable for long trips, the rear seats have plenty of room and they recline, the roof is not too tall so you can mount things on top like bikes and cargo carriers, the size seems perfect. I also appreciate the backup camera when parking and bluetooth connectivity which is standard on most new cars today. I just like the styling with the 20 inch wheels. It makes it look pretty upscale and sporty. I also love the holders for your cell phone with cable routing to the USB ports. Very nice touch. Im 6ft 2in so I appreciate the fact that there is plenty of space in the 2nd row so I dont have to move my seat up when someone gets behind me. And lastly, I love all the different sized cup holders. We live in our cars here in the US and we need cup holders. Europeans on the other had despise them. The downside, some things look cheap on the inside but its not a deal breaker. The bumpers and doors feel a little hollow for a vehicle of this price range. Torque steer is terrible coming from a standstill from corners, almost dangerous if you floor it too hard. The paint and thin and chips easily. The whole front bumper will need to be repainted next year. The electric steering feels numb with no feedback or resistance. And the touch screen radio with nav is really slow. I would not have paid extra for this. The voice activated nav and convenience features are a nice thought but rarely work well. Too slow and can never understand you correctely. Better off using Google Maps on your phone. All in all, its a nice everyday car. Its not going to ride like a German car but its also not going to be in the shop all the time like one either. The most expensive thing will be tires and Im fine with that since I dont have to worry about changing a timing belt. Id highly recommend one.

This is owning a Venza in a nutshell: It is a sweet looking ride that needs a little TLC to make great. The tires make a huge difference: Get Michelin Latitudes or something similar. Noise is a big issue in this car. The JBL Synthesis system plays plenty loud, and has some nice highs. Bass is nothing more than a muddied mess. There is no sub, so the front door woofers are asked to play sub bass instead of midbass and fail. Get a small underseat subwoofer and tie it into the system. HUGE improvement! As for the interior, it needs a LOT of sound deadening. This thing is a rattle trap. Get yourself some CCF and MLV and some CLD to put on the rattling metal. Otherwise, great engine and handles really well. Did I say how sweet it looks? And I am assuming Toyota's reputation for reliability would apply here too. It requires some work to it, but it turns this into a great car.

A lot of cars look big on the outside but are not spacious inside. The Toyota Venza is deceiving in that it looks a normal size on the outside but very roomy on the inside better than the Cadillac SRX also the ride was comparable and acceleration was better in the venza also better gas mileage. How great I get 26-27 and average 22-24 combined rural and hilly highway. It is Limited AWD with all the bells and whistles I especially like the auto high beam and the cabin comfort it handles great and stops on a dime. I love my toyotas, no recalls on this model to date 2013. The suspension is also much better in 2013 the made the rear independent for a much smoother ride so anyone pre-2013 sorry urs rides a lot tougher . I tested both 2012 & 2013 and it was a huge difference on bumps and holes in the road. Overall I would recommend for extra storage and a true midsize vehicle . Larger SUVs are overkill and consume much more gas. So if u don't need that much this wagon looking crossover suv is great . Toyotas are notorious for great handling in snow. So I'm not worried but haven't experienced yet. In a downpour it had no problems at all, no hydro planing at 65, braking was fantastic also. Highly recommend this vehicle

Bought this car new. Have taken it to three Dealerships: one in Texas, one in Georgia and the other here in Florida. The Brake pedal travel is excessive. Almost hit the rear of the car in front of me on numerous occasions. Very scary situation and will cause me to sell this car. The dealerships all have told me it's a design issue with this car and can't be fixed or improved. Even my brother-in-law's Toyota minivan's brakes are much better than this thing. To bad as it is such a well thought out utility sized vehicle.

The engine, AWD, break, etc lights are all on the first year. Toyota fixed it for three time to get it right, and replace two parts. This car is No good in cold winter and snow. If you drive out after the snow, you will feel the car is shaking heavy, like it's going to collapse; you can only drive to 50 mph at the time, if you drive over 50 mph the shaking is very bad. The second year, the check engine, and AWD lights are on and off, the day you bring to the dealer, the lights may off, but the warming lights are back on next day. Lucky this time they seen it, and repair for you. The Toyota is bad quality now.

Leased for 5 years ,, the car was pulling left on braking. temperature on right disk 116f, on left disk 165f., proof of imbalance. The cabin noise is excessive. You may not have noticed but the steering wheel is at an angle in other word of center.

I have had my 2013 Venza for a month now. It's a great car, but, two complaints. The Buick SUV I traded in rode much better and was much quieter. First complaint - the radio - my goodness, what a tinny sounding unit (not the JBL). Tried all the settings with no great improvement. My new Ford Escape has a much better radio. Other complaint - rough ride and noisier than my American cars. Sure seems like the much vaunted Toyota could do better than this. Will probably go back to American brands after this. If you are looking only at Toyota - look at a couple American brands - you might change your mind.

When I was looking for at this vehicle at first, I love the style of it! I almost bought one without driving it first. Lucky for me, one of my customer's happened to have one and he let me drive it. I fell for it! I read a lot of reviews that said it lacked in the driving, they said it wasn't fun to drive, I feel the total opposite! I am a Toyota person, my 1998 Camry has 365k on it and still on the road today. I was spectacle of the quality of the newer Toyotas and that of the 3.5 V6 (ticks on start up like a sewing machine) which is why I went with the 2.7 4 cylinder. I have literally no complaints about this Venza at all!

I just went over 1,000.00 miles on my 2014 Venza XLE FWD V6 after owning the car for 20 days. The most impressive thing about this vehicle is the 3.5 L V6. It is powerful, relatively quiet and works seamlessly with the 6 speed automatic transmission. I am averaging just over 20 mpg in mostly city driving thus far. I have observed up to 30 mpg on the computer in short highway trips traveling at 60 and 70 mph. (Hopefully these figures will improve even further as the engine gets fully broken in). The only negative that I need to write about is the jarring ride on rough pavement. Toyota must do a better job tuning the suspension to complement the 20 in. wheels. I like the roomy cabin.

I bought my 2013 Venza LE AWD last April, so I have almost had it one year. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I liked the exterior design when they 1st came out several years ago. The inside of the car is very roomy all around. The kids have plenty of space in the back and the car is wider than most. I am a pretty big guy, so I appreciate the width of the drivers seat. It also has a nice large trunk. The electric steering take a bit to get used to (feels a little loose at first) and this car also rides pretty rough compared to most American-made cars. You really need to take it for a long test drive before you buy it. This car is absolutely amazing in the snow.

We purchased approx 4 mths ago and still believe this is one of the great value cars in the market today/ We just came back from a 2500 mile trip with our venza This car has performed like a dream, no problems on anything since purchase. Electronics are great, satellite radio -wow this made time much easier with time. Mileage varied from 26-30 MPG (depending on road condition etc., so happy we can burn regular fuel. You will not be dissatisfied with this vehicle. We purchased the limited model. My wife and I love this vechilce!

3 Year Update

Have owned my 2013 Venza Limited for 3+ years (58K miles) at this point and continue to enjoy the care quite a bit. Mileage seems a bit worse lately, 21/22MPG though I'm not sure why. The paint on the front of the car seems pretty thinly applied and started to accumulate a lot of chips and dings from road debris very quickly. Touch up paint takes care of the worst spots but overall if you're obsessive about this sort of thing it would be annoying. Reliability has been superb and what you'd expect from Toyota, nothing but routine maintenance and tires have needed attention. I think the premium infotainment system by JVC could be better. The stock speakers are OK, but the touch screen is on the small side and the graphic user interface is not impressive. Listening to the radio information on the song/artist/album have to be truncated due to the tiny display and there's no scrolling option to view what's cut off. Likewise in navigation mode there's a lot crowded into a small space (Garmin and others do this so much better) it's hard to read at times, also the maps were out of date to begin with and the dealer charges a premium to update them. It also seems to pick some really illogical routes at time to the point I just give up and use Google Maps on my phone. When using the back up camera it's often impossible to see anything due to glare on the screen. Otherwise it's been a very good car and I expect to keep it for another 3 years at least.

Had 2010 Mercedes GLK350. Traded for Venza and so glad we did! This suv and I call suv as it is closer to suv than wagon by a big margin. Is a great automobile. Smooth ride, great construction and space that exceeded our expectations. The v-6 performs wonderfully, shifts smooth and ride meets all expectations. We had now for about 3 months with no problems, mileage on road about 26-29 mpg, not bad. (note at least this auto has a spare tire the Glk 350 had just a air pump-no spare tire. We got the LIMITED version of Venza and so glad we did, many many improvements with top notch equipment. We did not want to spend extra money on Limited, but after using features would not do with out.

My wife and I leased a 2010 Rav4 Limited V6 and our lease was up. We decided to get a new 2013 Rav4 however was disappointed to see it no longer had the V6 as an option. As we walked through the dealer lot a 2013 Attitude black limited AWD V6 Venza caught our eye. It was stylish and had a great set of 5 spoke 20" wheels. We took it for a test drive and the ride was fun however very very quiet compared to the 2010 V6 Rav4. We loved the new Entune Nav system and the current LED daytime running light as well as the HID main headlights were nice. We liked the panoramic roof and the power lift gate. The seats were comfortable and very adjustable. The dual chrome exhaust were a nice sporty touch.

Just crossed the 3 year ownership date on my 2013 Venza Limited with V-6 engine. This car has been an overall pleasure to own. It's practical for me living on my remote Texas ranch for most of my driving needs. I hate pickups and prefer sedans so this was a good compromise. The mileage could be better averaging around 22-23 MPG on regular fuel. There have been no maintenance issues other than one. Apparently Japanese manufacturers use "green" products under the hood that are derived from peanut oils and these attract rodents who will chew up your hoses, wires, etc. I caught this early before any severe damage was done (repairs cost about $300). I now use countermeasures like putting mothballs under the hood to keep out pests which seems to work for the most part. Our GM and John Deere products don't attract any attention from vermin. Otherwise I like the way this car drives and feel the V6 provides reasonable performance. The interior could be more luxurious and offer more features and some of the fit and finish is a bit off. Bottom line, I'm pleased with my choice and am sad to see that Toyota has suspended production of this vehicle.

Traded my 2008 Toyota Highlander Limited for the Venza AWD...I love it ! I call it a baby Highlander ! The Golden Umber Mica is a sharp, beautiful color that gets many comments ! The ride is smooth and very quiet. The engine purrs just like the Highlander, as the V6 is the same. The comfort and roomy interior is wonderful, and it's a fun car to drive ! The fit and finish seems to have improved in the 2013 , as mine is wonderful looking. Test drive a Venza...you will love it !

I owned a 2011 Venza, 4 cycl., and purchased the new 2013 Venza, XLE, 6 cycl.,Nav. Leather,power rear door lift, rear camera, 20 inch wheels. I love this vehicle, the ride has improved... My commute to work is 35 miles one-way, this vehicle is a joy yo drive. The Nav., Bluetooth, HD radio, Satellite Radio, make my commute easy to handle. The quality and interior workmanship has improved!!!!

I've only had my gray XLE AWD for a few days but so far I'm pleased. I was looking for a reliable, good looking ride with decent mpg and utility that's reasonably fun to drive. The Venza is great looking. The sheet metal which hasn't changed since the model was introduced in 2009 looks great from all angles and is enhanced with the bold 20" alloy wheels and the dual chrome tipped exhaust. Most notable change is the grill which looks good It's nicely equipped including the entune audio/nav system with backup camera, power tailgate, smart key, homelink Solid feel, reasonably fun to drive, quick and nimble. Good headroom (no sunroof) was essential as I'm 6'-6. Seats are comfortable.
