Poor Interior Integrity / Lame Technology System

I've owned a Rav4 since 2013, the redesign model year. If there's one thing you should know, it is this: The interior cabin is filled with rattles and squeaks. In less than three years (still under warranty as I write this), I've had no less than 4 different rattles and tapping noises to chase down. This started before 1K miles! The materials are very cheap Chinese plastics. I had one HUGE dash vent rattle fixed by the dealer. I'd been to the dealer a total of three times to fix the other noises and a "catch" in the moonroof cover to no avail. So, I've had to watch youtube videos on how to take apart the dash pieces to fix them myself. After taking the dash apart, one thing is apparent: If Toyota would use slightly better grade materials and have the factory workers put another few minutes into assembling the interior, this could all be avoided. The other thing you should know about is the Info- tainment system. Toyota Entune system is a joke and all Nav head unit functions are slow and clunky especially when compared to other auto makes from the same era. It's like Toyota was 3 years behind the others in what they offered and how smoothly it works… another obvious COST CUTTING measure. Other than the glaring interior quality issues and a slightly harsh ride on the 18" Bridgestone Dueler stock tires, the motor, transmission and brakes have been fine so far.

I have a 2014 Rav 4 AWD Limited. For what I payed for this SUV I was not impressed with the interior. It is cheaply done. It took me three weeks to decide if I wanted it. My last 2 vehicles were Acura, so you cannot put these two side by side. The RAV4 gas mileage in the city is about 16-17mph. I don't believe their numbers they have listed anyway. I got to really appreciate the softex interior. I always had leather but as we all know it cracks etc. this softex looks like I just drove off the lot with this SUV. This was very smart of Toyota to put this in their RAV4. I never had a problem at all with the interior. I love the RAV4 but if I had my choice I buy the Acura. Nice little truck but it's not an Acura. Just like the Lexus IS like a Rav. I owned a Lexus and they do not compare to the RAV4 even a little.

Just retired and was looking to replace our 2006 Toyota Rav 4 - Found this 2013 at a local dealership, called to see if still available, went over to test drive, got the "bottom line" price and went home to think it over. Went back 4 days later and bought it. The salesman was awesome, the dealership itself has some problems it needs to overcome but generally it all went well - After 3+ weeks we got the paperwork from the dealership & paid for the tag, etc. so we are off and running and anxious to get this Red Runner on the road.......trying to come up with a new name for it, maybe name it after Lauren Bacall....just call her Bacall - ready to see how we like her !

Wonderful car for both highway and city driving. Love the backup camera. One negative is that the door locks indicators are not illuminated on the drivers side making it impossible to see at night.

I just traded in my 2013 RAV 4 XLE for the 2016 RAV 4 SE model. I love the performance of this vehicle. It handles much better taking corners than the XLE. I got the metallic gray with the black and cinnamon leather interior. I feel like I am sitting in a sports car because the front seat hugs your body, making it very comfortable. I also received 3 months of satellite radio for free, which is great! The tires are wider and the rims are really sporty! I only had my car for 2 days so I don't have any complaints! Very satisfied customer!

First off let me say that Toyota make pretty durable vehicles, this is my second one and the first one ran until the 250,000 mark. I bought my 2013 RAV4 XLE at my local Toyota dealership and was impressed by the design and interior; both really well done.I have two kids and this vehicle really has the space to pack around the family on vacations and your day to day travel. All in all the only complaint I have is, I wish the RAV4 had a little more power, when you put this vehicle in sport mode it feels like it has more acceleration and is much more responsive on the gas. If you prefer to save more gas then the ECO mode is great just you can feel the vehicle bog down. Town and short trips I suggest the sports mode, long travel eco will allow you to pass at least one more gas station if you had it in sports mode on the highway.

I love the storage in my 2011 RAV but they took it all away when they took the tire off the back. They took away drink holders, tightened the door pockets, replaced the locking glove box with the sliding second glove box with a non-locking glove box, and eliminated the shelf in the console. All of these features help me keep my car tidy. I will be very disappointed when I am forced to give them up. The 2013 seems to be a safer vehicle, but it isn't fun to drive anymore.

Overall, I am very happy with this car. I have been able to test out the safety features in the snow and on icy roads and any slippage (due to sub-par snow tires) is immediately corrected. I feel safe, which is my #1 priority. I've read comments about feeling every bump in the road, maybe it is just because I've upgraded from a 2005 Camry, but I feel like I'm floating on clouds in this car. One thing I'm not crazy about is the rear-center seat. The car should be wide enough to have a regular 3-seat bench, not sure why it has this funky belt coming out of the ceiling. Second thing is the lift gate. I think a power lift gate should be standard. It is not easy to get open with your hands full. Especially on the LE model. It has a rear back up camera standard, but a manual lift gate? Why? Even my 2005 Camry had an auto open button on the key fob for the trunk. Then there's the headlights. Instead of just turning off automatically, there is an annoying, high-pitched beep to remind you to turn them off manually. I've never driven a car made after 2000 that didn't turn the lights off automatically when you lock the car. I would gladly give back the back up camera to have auto-off lights and a power lift gate! My last complaint is storage. There is a glove box and small arm rest storage compartment, and under the center console is weird open storage that doesn't fit much. I can tell they were trying to make it look upgraded and modern, I'd gladly have old fashioned and functional! Despite my complaints, I am happy with this car and don't regret my purchase. I've always been happy with the low cost of ownership that comes with Toyotas and I like that I can confidently drive on snow and ice now. The little things do make the experience for me though, and I know the manual lights and lift gate will continue to grate on me...

This car is a great with the exception, I believe was not tested at night. The headlights gives very poor lighting in distance. I have 20/20 vision so it is not my eye vision. Driving in city streets and highways is very dangerous, I have talked to other owners and the complain is the same. When driving I have to have the lights in high beam. I believe there should be a recall with new light beams replaced.

We noticed a very rough ride after we purchased the car. The dealer said we could buy new tires. We declined. We feel every bump in the road. Hopefully readers have some suggestions. Our current solution is with additional outdoor cushions which we place on the front seats. This is awkward but it helps. RJM

Overall the car does a great job. I live in the North East and we get our share of snow. The car handles great in the snow. Sometimes we will get 6 to 8 inches overnight. I don't have time to clear my driveway in the morning and the car cuts right through the snow. The car is roomy, handles great, and is fun to drive. There are however some minor annoyances with the car. For example, I would like to push the key-fob lock and lock the doors before closing them however the car does not allow that. If you leave the hatch open while driving the car will continuously beep. Very annoying when you moving something and can't close the hatch. There's no lock for the glove compartment.

Toyota with the RAV created this segment. Instead of improving with every iteration they are down grating on quality, workmanship, reliability and customer satisfaction. I own the 2013 Limited version since April 2013. It has 9,000 kilometers, the main issue is that the hood vibrates while driving on uneven pavement in the city and on smooth pavement on the highway. This is a design issue that Toyota needs to address. Toyota chose to have a flimsy hood for less weight. Two trips at the dealership could not resolve the problem. Toyota is referring me to the dealer, even though the dealer stated clearly there is nothing they can do to address this issue. Toyota is behaving arrogantly.

I have owed the 2013 RAV4 since June 2013. I love, love, love this car!!! Get good gas milage; 26 city; 31 hwy. The Toyota Care is outstanding. The only complaint I have is the upholstery. I bought what I thought was leather but it turns out to be Soft Tech which is a vinyl. The color is beige and stains very easily. Seats have blue jean staining and it will not come off! The dealership is no help on this issue. They "kinda" change the subject when I bring it up. I would buy the RAV4 again but would just go with the cloth seats unless genuine leather is offered.

My dad had the previous 1st generation RAV4 and that thing lasted forever and took a beating so he had to have a new one. He got the base model to avoid all the unnecessary electronics nowadays. Inside is very roomy, cloth seats are good and textured. Dash is well laid out and material quality is more than acceptable. Acceleration is great around town and on the highway. I have a hard time keeping up in my 2014 Subaru WRX STI in stop in go traffic unless I ring my STI out. No idea what Car and Driver means when it called acceleration "tepid"...absolutely not true.

The air conditioning is awful in this car. There are no vents for the back seat and therefore my hands are numb from the air conditioning while driving yet my daughter in the back seat is dripping in sweat. We bought this car in the winter and wish we had been aware of this. We asked Toyota about it and all we got is the car is small enough the vents weren't required. Well they went the cheap way and therefore it is awful to drive with passengers in the summer. We also had both metal bars that adjust the seats break already. You would think with a semi nice car the seats could be motor controlled. Other than these 2 big discomforts we like the car a lot.

We compared this car to the nice '14 Forester and bought this for its interior design and Toyota reliability. I'm not sure I would do it again. I'm 6-4, 225 lbs, and 53 years old & need a car that is higher, easy to get into, and gets good MPG. This RAV4 is high enough, but the shape of the front door causes me to have to contort my body just a bit to enter. I do have plenty of room in the front and my knees do not touch the dash. But, the car feels cheap. The hood vibrates/shakes on certain kinds of rougher paved and dirt roads. The silver & "graphite" trim both scratch really easily. Car handles well, though the ride is stiff. Speakers are much worse than Camry, more like Corolla.

I have had this vehicle since August 2013 and have had absolutely no issues with it. I was somewhat surprised at some of the reviews in this thread as I have owned many Toyotas and have never experienced a problem they could not fix. I live in Arizona and we may have smoother roads than some of the cooler weather states, but I have found the Rav4 ride to be exceptional for this vehicle class. The features available on the Limited are outstanding, everything works perfectly and I love the versatility of the transmission. Heck, you can treat it like a manual and in Sport mode that is fun. Bought it at end of lease!!

Toyota radio do not buy until they fix known issue

I just bought a 2013 Rav4, the volume of the radio goes up, down and also sounds muffled at times. If you plug your ipod, it stays in loading mode with out playing. It will also go off or the screen goes blank in the heat. The volume jumping up is startling and my 7 y/o says " stop that mom". When I take it to the dealer service dept. this is a known issue and the fix is usually to replace the radio. They said they replaced the radio, it continues to do it. I have been there 4 times and they do not know how to fix. They should fix this before putting them on the market for sale. This is a defect. I have concern for the longevity of the car. I have lost trust in Toyota, will not buy another.

I have owned the RAV for about one year. I bought it based on previous experience with Toyota vehicles and a good trade-in offer I got from my dealer for my previous car - my net-out-of-pocket on the RAV was ~$2-3k less than other comparable CUVs. After one year of ownership the best I can rate this car is "average". The only real positive is the amount of cargo and passenger space. In every other area the car falls short, especially comparing to competition. It's noisy, has a very stiff and uncomfortable suspension, safety ratings are mediocre (below key competitors), transmission behavior is strange and disconcerting, mileage is OK but not outstanding. Bottom line - just average.

A great SUV for zipping around town, short highway travel, commuting, or heading to national parks and the great outdoors for fun weekends. One of the reasons I chose this vehicle was because it had the most cargo room for this class of small SUVs. Even so, I did buy a Thule cargo carrier for occasional extra luggage capacity. The transmission is versatile with three modes. Its 6 speed transmission with a 4 cylinder engine shifts gears more often than a 4 speed transmission with a 6 cylinder engine, but we also enjoy 27-29 mpg in the city using Eco mode. The three modes respond as follows: - Normal mode: Responsive shifting, great for busily driving around town and on the highway. - Eco Mode: Slower to shift, but shifts more smoothly, not as jumpy or punchy. We see better gas mileage during city and mixed driving. - Sport Mode: Favors shifting down 1 gear from Normal mode so that the transmission is wound tighter and the vehicle is more responsive. This is helpful on snowy and icy roads. Headlamps create a very clear wall of light for night driving with great visibility. On the interior, everything is well lit except for the power side mirror adjustment--there is no light behind this control, leaving you to feel around for it in the dark. It's a Toyota, so quality is good as expected. Oil changes uses synthetic oil, so they are closer to $80-$90 each, but they are only recommended every 10k miles, so that would average out the same as standard oil changes every 4k-5k miles.. I have only needed the regular preventive maintenance, a set of front brakes, and a set of tires--all to be expected for my mileage. A few downsides to be aware of: 1) The 4 cylinder engine is under-powered when you load the vehicle with people and luggage. Highway mileage on the interstate (75-80mph) + rolling hill country + wind + rooftop cargo carrier reduces the mileage to 22mpg. Even without the cargo carrier, the same conditions reduce mileage to 24mpg. I WISH Toyota would have never dropped their 6 cylinder option. This vehicle needs 6 cylinders to be a good interstate highway travel vehicle. 2) The headrest design is crazy bad! It is too far forward and causes neck and shoulder tension. But for this problem I found a safe solution. Remove the headrest, turn it around backwards (which now makes it a bit too far from your head), and then purchase a headrest pad from http://www.addonheadrest.com/order.html. The distance to my head is now perfect (not too close, not too far), and this makes all the difference in the seating comfort. 3) Thin paint job and not very scratch resistant. It scratches more easily than other vehicles I have owned. So if you have an option of getting some kind of paint protective coating applied on a new vehicle, get it. 4) No air vents, USB port, or power socket in the back seat area. For a vehicle of this size, Toyota should have included all three as does the Hyundai Santa Fe (I tested this vehicle, but it had other issues that led me to purchase the RAV4).

This car is really nice. Easy to drive. I got the XLE model from Mark Jacobson Toyota in Raleigh/NC. They were nice to deal with. I like the drivers seat, it is very comfortable. The electronic gear shift, is also very handy. I got 32 miles on HWY. I had the front windows tinted and that helped out from the heat. I think Toyota builds the best car for the money. The one thing I would change is when you open the hood, you have to use the rod to hold it up. Not a good idea.

We traded our 08Rav4 in for the 2013 Rav4 We live in Upper Michigan where we get a lot of snow AND under the doors (including the back door)the snow & ice collects and then it melts off in our garage creating a huge mess! When you open the doors you can see the accumulation! This is a real problem and had we knew this before ... we would have gotten a different brand vehicle. Our old Rav did not do this. Perhaps Toyota should re design the doors and eliminate this problem

We purchased this vehicle in November and have found some things we like & don't like. We really like the blind spot monitor. This feature should be available on more cars. We also like the style of the car and rear cross traffic alert. We are extremely disappointed in the Rough, Bumpy Ride. It is a great riding car on the PA turnpike or a smoothly paved road. Our limited model has 18 inch Bridgestone tires and it provides a very Rough Ride. My voice even vibrates when I'm trying to talk to anyone in the car at the time with me. Don't think this will be a vehicle my husband and I will grow old with in our senior years.

2013 RAV4 AWD Limited

We bought the car in mid-August. We really like the Blind Spot Monitor option. Also, an unexpected but convenient feature is that the music files on a USB drive can be played back directly. We also like the memory function of the driver’s seat. Our main complaint is that the ride is really bumpy, even bumpier than my 20-year-old Corolla. Another thing is that the air outlets have begun to make an abnormal sound when switching the air flow from the setting of upper body and feet to the setting of upper body. Since the car has less than 2000 miles on it and it already got a problem, I really question the long term reliability of this vehicle.

We had the Toyota RAV 4 Limited AWD since May 2013 and disposed of it April 2015. At first as liked the RAV. Then as we drove it little things just got annoying. Front seat driver and passenger shoulder to shoulder, the sliding console always moving at the wrong times, smaller steering wheel and guages. The Sport button and other buttons hidden behind shifter so low that you had to take your eyes off the road to make adjustments. My wife and I are not large people and we felt a little clostraphobic. What pushed us over the edge was that our 2 labs had no place to move in the back seat and the last straw was the short wheelbase and Bridgestone Duellers that caused every bump to vibrate the entire car. Have to mention that the Duellers were horrible in the snow. Pluses were gas mileage and looks. I couldn't take it anymore and bought a Highlander Limited and I haven't regretted that choice. Should have done that a year prior. Nevertheless, if you like a 1 person car and don't mind kidney vibrations the RAV is a good choice. All in all this is a one person car.

Great car and customer service. I am having trouble with the Bluetooth connection to my phone. It worked for the first 3 weeks and abruptly stopped. Took car back and no one seems to figure out what happened or fix it.

I used Edmunds (among other sites for comparison) to help me do research for a new car, before I went out and test drove them. I dislike going to car dealerships, but I can say with confidence that I have improved with how to deal with them. Plus I had done my own research beforehand, and knew what to look at and expect (as well as knowing when a dealer was lying to me). Well here is my review of this lovely car after having it for about 4 months now, and some improvements that I think should be made for the future.

Darkened Dashboard/Speedometer

The dashboard/speedometer is set back into a tunnel. In any other car when you turn the ignition key on the dashboard/speedometer illuminate. Not the case in the RAV4. It stays dark. So dark, that when you are driving downa tree lined street or on a cloudy day, its almost impossible to see the speedometer. This is a design flaw in the vehicle. I have to turn my night time lights on during the day to see the speedometer clearly. A very dangerous situation! I have tried talking to corporate in California and they will not do anything about this problem. I have not contacted the BBB, The Dept. Of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney Generals office.

I bought my RAV 4 XLE two weeks ago. I drive more than 100 miles on most days and thought I could save on gas. It runs very well and gets good mileage. However, the seats and maybe the shocks are hard so that after seating for more than half an hour, it is no longer comfortable. I don't look forward to driving it long distance because the seats are just too hard. Also, the rear passenger section should have cup holders on the side doors instead of just cupholders located in the center seat. If you have 3 people sitting in the back, you won't have any cup holders.

Overall this car is very nice. I was previously an owner of a 2006 Honda CRV. When I compared the two in the 2013 models the Rav4 won out. However, after owing the car for a couple weeks I have some issues that I don't like about the design. First the low beam headlights are horrible. They are the worst of any car I have ever driven. There is a line across the lights that makes it so when I am driving I can't see very far up the road. It is fine with the high beams but you can't run those all of the time. I hate the rear pass' windows. They are small and they slope up toward the back blocking visibility making a blind spot. The rear window does not open so you can't haul anything.

Bought XLE June 26 2013 and I love it!!! Have 2000 miles and get about 27 miles per gallon in city. Have not made any road trips yet. I am 5'11" and my husband is 6'2" and we both are quite comfortable. Vehicle has good pick up so no worries about merging onto interstate. Test drove Mazda CX5 and Honda CRV. RAV4 offered more options in the base price and the cabin was not as noisy. Black carpet shows every speck of sand. Floor mats are a flimsy for the extra cost (nearly $300.00). Ordered an extra set online (must more cost friendly) to have on hand. "RAVen" (I have named her) is a real looker. Removal of "barn" rear door was the best thing ever!!!! 9/14/2016 Still love "RAVen". I have 45,0000 miles on her. She still looks and runs very well. I thought I ordered leather seats but they are not. The synthetic fabric stains easily and things like blue jean and ink from paper transfers are impossible to remove. Think Toyota should offer a choice of leather or the synthetic fabric. The gas millage is not as good as when she was new. Averages about 24 miles per gallon in city and a little more (28) on highway. Will be replacing her in January 2017, not because I have any issues, because I will be retiring and want a new vehicle. Would consider a RAV4 if the body style changes greatly.

For starters ... I rushed to upgrade from a 2011 Rav4 model I loved to a 2013 model I don't like very much. After 5000 miles of city and highway, this SUV consistently disappoints. While many overall improvements have been made as listed in great details throughout the other reviews, the fundamental issues are the power/train. combo and also the tire change up in this new model. This is not a fund vehicle to drive (unlike the 2011 model). The car feels sluggish, hesitant and often puzzled as if it doesn't know what gear to go into and when (automatic version and AWD).

Bought my 2013 limited the end of June. This is a great car in so many ways. I know it will be reliable and I am already seeing the savings from my 04 explorer. 28mpg combined and 32 hwy. The power memory seats are great as is the auto liftgate. I would not have bought this car if it still had the sideways gate. The stereo is not great. actually it is bad. Too much sound up front and it is very bright and "scratchy" I have played with the controls endlessly. This is annoying as I love to listen to all kinds of music as I drive.

The good: Technically, mechanically, this car is fantastic. It has the smoothest transmission, very nice pick up, and very quiet. The not-so-good: The XLE version does not have power seats. Weird. Detail review: I have been researching crossovers since almost a month. I thought about getting a CRV, and I test drove 3 different ones, but all of them were noisy. The engine noise is high, combined that with the road noise was the deal breaker for me. The RAV4 is noiseless. Mechanically, this is a fantastic vehicle. The pick up is great, and it has three modes: eco, regular, sport. Loved the power steering on it too (better than CX-5, IMO).

I traded my 2011 Dodge (Lemon) Journey with 7 months remaining on that lease for this SUV. Leased this RAV4 for 36 months and so far I couldn't be happier. I was concerned this SUV might be under powered with the 4 cyl especially after having 6 cyl for my last few vehicles. That concern was removed as my wife and I have just returned from driving 4750 mile vacation and the 4cyl was unbelievably great. Not only did I have enough power for cruising the interstates I was able to pass vehicles on two lane roads with no problem at all. Gas mileage was always between 28 & 32 MPG depending on conditions.

I baught my 2013 rav 4 and everything was fine until I decided to open the back windows, while going down the highway. the noise hurt my ears. and I mean really hurt. I contacted the dealer. and he told me he new about the problem. and suggested that I shouldn't open my windows ??? I then contacted Toyota and explained the problem to them. they told me to go on a ride with the service manager, to show me that they all have that problem. But offered no remedy. I guess if that's the case! the windows aren't meant to be opened while driving!!!

I owned a 2006 Rav4 (V6, 4-Wheel) and put 135K miles on it before purchasing my new I-4 Rav4 2013. It’s been a love-hate relationship with the new. I loved the old one. I have 3,500 miles on the 2013, which I purchased on 5/21. Today is 7/24/13. I bought the all-wheel drive and have been getting 28 mph, doing mostly highway/thruway driving. I tend to use ECO for long hauls on interstates, Sport for short bursts up hills, and the regular setting for other times. What I dislike is the odd placement of the ECO and Sport buttons, which must be activated way under the radio and NAV system. It’s hidden, inconvenient, and dangerous. The black bumpers streak terribly when washed.

I got the front wheel drive Limited. This was a replacement for my 2008 Honda CR-V. I've always been a Honda customer. I thought I'd try the Toyota after seeing a brand new exterior and the spare tire is no longer visible in the back. I've had it only for a little over a month. Although it is nice to look at (exterior and interior), you can tell it is the cheaper version of the CR-V. The handling feels like a toy car. The ride is also bumpier. The "leatherette" I am sure will wear off much faster than a leather. It also stains very easily especially if oil based. Even pens stain and is very hard to remove. Also not as good visibility. Women will find the CR-V much easier to drive

Nice looking, more car like, great driving SUV. The new 6-speed transmission is great. Handling is very good. There are three modes to choose from, Eco, Sport, and the default. Seems to effect how the transmission is used. In heavy traffic I prefer Sport mode because the car stays in the proper gear so you don't have to brake all the time. Reasonably comfortable (I used to own a Buick). I upgraded to the 2013 model primarily for the top-hinged hatch. I make frequent trips with an inflatable kayak to the river and got tired of having to deal with the side opening door. Much easier to work with now. The back seat folds down nearly flat. A big plus.

Had tro decide between a Subaru, Honda CRV or the Toyota. Picked the RV4. had some problems with the Navigation. Couldnt see the darn screen dealer couldnt fix so I asked if I could talk with factory Field Rep who was coming to visit the dealer. Field Rep came & said he doesnt speak with customers. He also could not fix screen. So, what do Ido? I called the factory service complaint phone number and i couldnt believe it. Said they only talk service with their dealers. Finally got an email from same department that said I couldnt complain abou ta problem if I didnt even know which engine I had!! I was stupid. Again, attacking me. . Why argue with me? Forget theToyota

I had a 2009 Toyota Rav4 which I really liked... I am one of the few that like the rear swing open door... my wife takes our two golden retrievers with her to work and it was very easy to get the old guy (13 years old, blind, deaf but still loving life) into and out of the back with the wide door and low floor... to jump right to it.... I love the 2013 which I bought in the U.S. (yes I am Canadian, and the Rav4 is made 20 minutes from where I live but I saved almost $7,000 in the U.S.) my concern is the exterior black plastics... when they get dirty and you wash them and then the car dries off, the dirt marks still show !!! has anyone else experienced this? please let me know. thx

This is my first SUV, I've had it for 1 month and driving 600 miles. Initially, no matter how fun it was to drive, I questioned my decision to get the Rav4. The dash display told me my MPG and I was less than thrilled. However, I decided to track my own stats and I have no remaining doubt that I made the right choice. I just gassed up and calculated 29.8 mpg. I traded in a 2001 Mazda 626 that got 23, and this ride is so much more comfortable and fun! The rear-view isn't too limited and it has loads of power and spunk. Extremely comfortable and well-designed cockpit. Classy-looking, too. Quiet, smooth cabin and fantastic sound clarity in stereo & Bluetooth. Recommended!

my ratings for the vehicle are based heavily on what I believe to be inferior seats for the extra money that is paid for the limited. there is a big price jump from the ex-l to limited and they try to justify some of it with the softex seats. if you are want good quality leather seats, these will fall way short. when you are doing test drives, pay particular attention to how the seat feels. compare it to the leather seats in the Honda crv or mazda cx-5. you will feel the difference. if seat comfort is not that important to you and you don't mind spending the extra $3000 for limited, then you can disregard this review.

bought new on 4/22...with only 500 miles on the odometer,car quit running while i was driving down the highway...felt like engine was revving up but car was not shifting into higher gear properly..freaked me out! had it towed to dealership and am waiting on a diagnosis...i am bitterly disappointed and wish i had bought a ford escape....NOTHING should go wrong with a vehicle that has only been driven 500 miles! now im stuck with a car that i will NEVER feel secure in.

The XLE trim level has the most bang for the buck with many standard features you'd have to either pay more for or purchase the top trim level to get it in other SUV's.
