New Durango mistake

Owned a 2007 AWD Durango which we gave to our son and it's still running strong with 115,000 miles, not problems. I assumed that the new design would be just as dependable and that was a mistake. We traded our perfectly good F150 in on a new 2013 Durango with 10 miles on the odometer and started having problems on the way home from the dealership. Over the next month, the Durango spent most of it's time in the shop at great inconvenience to us, and no support from the Dealership that sold it to us. It broke down for the last time on a road trip with our grandchildren and I was able to get it to a local Dodge dealer where I left it for the last time. This ordeal lasted 45 days (and 1,500 miles) after purchase before Chrysler resolution finally agreed to make an exchange for another vehicle. I was given a 2014 Durango in exchange at a cost of approximately $2000 difference, and no reimbursement for my out of pocket expense for cab fare, car rental etc. Very disappointed with both Chrysler, and the dealership involved. We drove the 2014 for awhile, and then started getting recall notices so I traded it in on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and lost another $3500 in the transaction because the Durango's don't hold their value. The Jeep Wrangler is on a different platform with better dependability and resale and we have had no problems in 35,000 miles. I don't recommend the Durango (or Jeep Grand Cherokee) to anyone because of the electrical problems they have since they are built on the same platform.

i have a dodge durango 2013 and the one thing i have an issue with is the Radiator. I am being told i have to replace my second radiator for a third one and it is not covered under warranty. $800 bill. I have never heard of having to replace two radiators on a car with no accidents. Does anyone know if Dodge Durango have a radiator issue?

I absolutely love my 'RANGO. It makes me feel like a teenager driving a muscle car. The difference is, I have child safety seats in the rear for my Grand Children. It's a solidly built, way cool, totally awesome vehicle. The highway mileage on long trips at 26-27 MPG makes me amazed at the technology and engineering involved in sculpting this work of art. The platform is excellent. The third row seating is a bonus, although big guys like me might not want to try to fold themselves up to climb in back there. But as far as comfort, convenience, safety, all 5 stars in my book. The cool factor is very high with me too. It looks marvelous. I added aftermarket tint and wind deflectors to the windows, some body side moulding, and running boards. It's a bad-assed Grandpa hotrod. The Grandkid's all love to be in it, ride in it, and they all talk about this car. It passes the grandkid test with 5 stars. I plan on driving this until the last bolt falls out. Chrysler should notify me personally if it's to be discontinued at any point because I would buy the last model year of it in the future. It's only going to get better going forward. I would love to attach a pic of my beautiful 'Rango here, but there are no provisions for that.

I love my Durango!!! I have every option available and the kids love it. It has ample USB ports, storage and an outlet for plugging in chargers. The speakers are not top quality and I was disappointed. The navigation is less than impressive and hard to use. It tells me wrong information. The ride in the 2nd and 3rd row seats is rough and the seats are stiff. BUT the power of the hemi is worth every penny. The sleek style and blacktop package match my personality and demand attention. ONE HOT RIDE FOR ONE HOT MOM!

Happy for Dodge

I loved the car until there were so many small recalls and the A/C did not work after three years since I bought the car new in Michigan. There was an inch and a half clean cut to the main tube. The manufacturer declined to help to pay, and the dealership I went to was horrible. I took my car to an A/C certified mechanic whom was familiar with Dodge. He said the main A/C tube was right next to the transmition metal shield. Either the main tube was corroded with all the salt and all from the snowy road or it was due to the metal vibration. Either way, wasn't the tube to last its life time? I have never had any A/C problem with any other car before. I think it is a defect.

I'm having a love hate relationship with my 2013 Durango SXT. Currently at 64k miles. This truck does everything I want it to- the ride is great incl. acceleration , braking, comfort etc. gas mileage is great IMO for the size of the vehicle- up to 28mpg with the amply powered V6. It also tows my 5x10 cargo trailer with ease. Having said this, there have been recalls incl. a new alternator, fuel pump relay, brake booster shield. When I had the truck at the dealer they discovered a leaky water pump, (replaced/covered by warranty),a cracked thermostat housing (covered), a blown rear shock(not covered) which took the rear sway bar bushings with it. Also had an AC problem blowing warm air (covered). So I had the shocks replaced at a cost of $320 incl. parts. My main concern is on the first trip to the dealer for recall work it was discovered the main wiring harness was pinched between the body and frame in the engine compartment. They "fixed" it at the dealer but WTF does that mean? To me it is a clear indication of a build quality issue. I luckily purchased the 5yr 100k mile warranty from Chrysler or else I would have to pay a huge repair bill. This truck has the superb Mercedes 5 speed tranny which is rated to 600 hp. The dealer has been good and no complaints there. So there it is, the good and bad. Having owned my share of vehicles, the Japanese are catching my eye simply because of their reliability, that is a fact.

Our Dodge Durango Citadel is a beautiful car. Comfort and performance wise it is the nicest vehicle we have ever owned. Unfortunately the fun stops there. Dodge has several recalls out on this vehicle that they don't have the parts to fix. Our car currently won't start due to a recall issue and the dealership has no idea how to fix the problem because there are no parts to fix the issue. Imagine owning a 50000 dollar vehicle that won't start and has an unfixed brake booster recall. That is the Dodge experience.

Buyer Beware!

The 2013 Dodge Durango looks nice from the outside, BUT inside...the acceleration is mediocre for a 6cyl, air condition takes a while to cool, uncomfortable front seats, a 3-row seating arrangement inside should always include roof racks in my opinion (no roof rack). Most important thing is that this Dodge Durango has had 3-4 recalls since it was purchase in 2014 and every time Dodge has not moved quickly to make the necessary repairs. Their standard answer is always..."the part is not in yet". All the recalls mention possible crash if the issues are not repaired however, Dodge seems to not care about the safety of their customers. It has taken over 6 months for parts to finally become available for each recall and they have not bothered to contact us when that happens. I will not be buying another Dodge ever again.

Having owned multiple vehicles (cars & SUVs) I knew what I what on my must have list when I began my search. After extensive research I had decided that the Durango was it. My Durango SXT now has 40,000 miles, hard miles, and has never let me down. I have religiously changed my oil every 10,000 miles with synthetic and just put 4 new tires on it. Generally I would be considering to trade a year in with 40k miles but not with the Durango, I plan to keep her for the duration. UPDATE: At 75,000 miles the transmission started to fail. After leaving me sitting it was taken to the purchased from dealership. Once out of the shop it continued to stutter and jerk, at almost 89,000 miles it was traded.

Great value - this is for V8 Citadel with all options

We had a 2011 Traverse LTZ that we were very happy with. Liked the dependability and the room. We were just looking for something nicer inside and with a little better ride and quieter. We looked at Acura MDX (too small even the new one); New Traverse and Buick (mild refresh not too exciting); Infiniti QX60 (nice, a little slower and would have been $10k more than our fully loaded Durango Citadel. From the first moment I drove the new 2014 Durango I was impressed by the handling; how solid and quiet it was; the ease of use of the Uconnect control system, and the performance. We got a fully loaded Durango Citadel with with 5.7 L Hemi V8.

This SUV is simply amazing. We looked at the Tahoe, Suburban, which were both overly priced and pretty plain on the inside. We then looked at the Nissan Armada, which was comfortable but the gas mpg was 13. We then looked at the 2013 Ford Expedition Limited and it had very loud road noise. Then we found it! The AWD, 5.7 Liter RT Durango. It's fast, very comfortable. Has every option out there and rides soooo smooth. We absolutely love the SUV. Best in class by far.

Fits my family's needs... perfectly

I did an exhaustive search (in other words: I was looking for a bargain). We weren't looking for anything fancy, but we had to find an SUV with 3-rows, decent mpg's, something we can take camping, doesn't look like a giant rollerskate (quadruple check)... And we found one, the 2013 Dodge Durango. First, I REALLY like the exterior. The front looks very manly. The side view is ok, but the rear is reminiscent of older BMW's and its cousin the JEEP Grand Cherokee... fancy. Plenty of room for our luggage with the 3rd row folded down. Overall, very attractive vehicle.

so far so good

purchased this new, may of 2013. Have put close to 6k miles on it already, but that included a trip to florida from md. Getting very decent gas milage for such a big vehicle, with AWD. Rides great, its quiet, with plenty of power. I average 23-24mpg in mixed driving, but got over 27mpg on the last fillup on the way home from florida! So far we've been very happy with this vehicle, and will post an update down the road....

I owned a 2003 Durango and the improvements in its ride and handling are remarkable. I bought it at Capital Chrysler in Garner from Sal R., who is a very good rep and takes care of his customer during and after the sale.

It is everything I expected. The Durango got a good review from Edmunds staff, and I have learned to trust their reviews. Consumers Reports also rated the Durango tops in customer satisfaction which says something. This is the first Chrysler product I have ever purchased. I looked at the Explorer, CX-9, new Pathfinder, Highlander, and Pilot also. The Durango matches the others in most attributes and exceeds them in having the shortest turning radius (maneuverability), longest driving range, and highest towing capacity. It is also great looking.

Going from Toyota Yaris 38 mpg to this 16 mpg is quite a shock but I'm learning to just deal with it. I feel powerful and guarded when I drive myself and my baby around in this vehicle. We got the V8 Hemi (which is not an option on this review) and we are both very pleased with what it has to offer. It has a tow package and though we've only towed an empty flatbed trailer it towed with ease. I like the fact that it has an "ECO" function and can detect when I don't need the full 8 cylinders and drops 4 for my city driving. Cons: can feel when it shifts, a minor shudder & hubcaps? I just dropped almost $50K and I get hubcaps?

I have put about 1200 miles on this vehicle. About 400 of those miles were used to to tow a 17' bass boat through the Ozark moutains.I can find nothing to complain about. Plenty of power when I needed it.
