The V6 base model is very scaled down when compared to the V8 model which comes with all the toys and then some. Although in my opinion I can't see anyone being disappointed in any model purchased. It's just a sweet ride and I have had both the V8 and V6 models.

This model was significantly upgraded in 2015. I have very much enjoyed this car except on long rides. I can really feel the bumps in the freeway. I'm very happy with the controls including the stereo. I like the way it's laid out. Vehicle performance has been great. Lots of power and fine steering. Back up camera is great. Warning sensors are great. Good all around car.

Caution!

After hitting road debris while 50+ miles from home and then hearing disturbing noises while driving, local dealer said ok to bring car in. After more than a 30 minute wait at the dealership, was told they could not look at car that day so I left. Then decided to register a complaint about inconsistent message. After 10 minute+ plus wait, only management available was the controller. I was not nice but really don't think hanging up on a customer is a good idea. Called dealer from whom we bought car and was told they could not look at car for a week. Really glad we spent all that money on the maintenance package! Now feel reluctant to take road trips because can not depend on company to support car in emergency situations. Will never purchase Hyundai again and will discourage anyone else for the same reason.

Nice try Hyundai!

The Genesis is a car that lacks origin and by definition, the car should have strong roots. I owned the car for a little over a year and drove about 30K miles before I threw in the towel of defeat. I initially purchased the car because of its spacious interior and amazing 3.8L engine, which produces 333 horsepower. However, the buck stopped there. While this was only the base model, the car didn't hold up to my standards of what a "luxury car" should be in terms of ride, handling, and amenities. I owned a black/black Genesis with the base radio, which apparently, the optional upgrades really only involve a Lexicon radio and some sun visors in the rear, not so luxury in my opinion. The relationship started as a loving as the honeymoon stage can get but quickly turned into a bitter divorce towards the end and the Genesis took the house and furniture in the divorce, figuratively speaking of course. My initial expectation of the Genesis was a nicely appointed and comfortable ride with a small hint of Euro feel. What I received was stiff rear springs and shocks and cushy front springs and shocks that made for an awkward drive in the city and over large bumps in the road. I spoke to my local dealer and this was the proper setup for the car, which really didn't make sense to me but I lived with it. The next thing that bothered me was the lack of front seat support and the feeling of driving a 1995 Crown Victoria while making a turn and sliding to the passenger seat to have a close conversation with your passenger. Again, this was something I could deal with, although, the fact that it took about a day each time the car was started to connect the Bluetooth, and the fact that the Bluetooth has such weak sound compared to other cars I have driven really brought my feelings for the car down. The faux wood felt more like plastic, which if pressed, you could see the plastic flex and the seats lacked any real support, which lead to my tail bone and back to hurt at all times. The car may grow on you as you see the depreciation drop harder than the economy in 2007, but it will be only because you are underwater and no one will except the car as a trade. Yes, I could have opted for the loaded Genesis but spending 35-40K on a used Hyundai Genesis only to have a Lexicon sound system and a navigation system that no one uses because we all have phones that have Google Maps and Waze, seemed ridiculous to me. Therefore, my recommendation if you are in the market for a full-size luxury car, keep your mind open to manufactures that are used to building luxury cars such as, Mercedes, BMW, Infinity, Lexus, Jaguar, etc. While this car is wonderfully priced, the car depreciates like a Hyundai and parts are very rare so insurance payment will be larger than expected.

Great car

When looking for a car the first thing I look for is a car that I prefer its looks to the others. The second thing that I look it is to find out how it compares to other cars. There was a lot of comparison to BMW, Mercedes, Infinity, Lexus and many other brands but at the end of the day I decided to buy the Hyundai because it was the most car for the least amount of money, an unbelievable value at 17K. We also bought the car because I and my wife thought we were done having children. We bought the car thinking we were a family of 4 but then when we got back from buying our Genesis (means Beginning) we found out that we were expecting baby number 3. In case you missed it we bought a silver 3.8 Sedan, black leather, great technology no gps (why they look old in a couple of years) How has the car performed after owning 1 1/2 years and going from 2 kids to 3 with a baby seat? We have had plenty of room although we would love a little bit more space. I just can't imagine trading a Genesis for a minivan. Interior is holding up great for a family of 5. Black on Black is timeless. Performance - 0-60 MPH this car a 1/2 second slower than the 2012 5.0 Rspec and is only .4 second slower than the 2015 5.0 Sedan and is a full second faster than the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. I believe the 3.8 car we would take the 5.0 Rspec in the qtr mile. Maintenance - I replaced the tires on the back with some Tiger Paws. the Fronts are originals. I took it the dealership (awesome service) once for some lights that were malfunctioning inside the cabin. I have done the routine maintenance on it. Most of our drives are about 40-60 minutes round trips. We have driven in to Orlando (many times), Birmingham (many times), Greenville, SC (once) and back from Houston(once). We just made it back from Orlando and I averaged 35 miles per gallon in a car that has 333 hp with a family of 5 and the car loaded with electronics, toys and the trunk completely full. I am completely happy with this car an would recommend anyone to buy one but I know you would be as happy as we are to have one that is a few years old for less than half the price.

Love it......but

I have LOVED, LOVED , LOVED this car. I am looking to buy another one. I have 69K miles and no problems! The interior is wonderful for my 6 ft 6 inch tall husband, even in the back seat. My ONLY complaints are the design of the gas nozzle....it is like there is a curve that cause the gas to splash back and cut off the gas nozzle from continuing to fill. I have to stand with the car and manually pump, manipulating the position of the nozzle so it will fill. The other thing is the cup holders do not allow 2 large drinks in the front holders, they are too small to accommodate. The last thing is there is a blind spot in the drivers side mirror if you are short like I am (5 foot). Small issues over the life of the car and it's wonderful performance!

What car did they drive!

I drove the Mercedes e350 and s550, the BWM 550 and 328i, the Lexus 460, the Cadillac CTS 3.6 platinum, Infinity M, and the Lincoln mkX. I was looking for a powerful, quiet, competent, and good handling replacement for my DTS Cadillac. I have recently owned a BMW z4 and 330i. No matter what the reviews say, I get nearly 30MPG highway (28-29). I replaced the stock continental tires with Michelins and the car got even quieter. I measured it with the spl meter on the iphone. It is now just as quiet as a Lexus, but with way more guts and glory. it does not have the intuitively rewarding handling that the e/s Mercedes or the BMWs, but is you are looking for something between the BMW 550 or S550 and the Lexus with a much better stereo and no stigma, this is it! Note - the new (2015) Cadillac CTS 3.6 was amazing - I looked at my wife during the test drive and I quickly deduced I would have to fight to drive it, It is a very appealing and great performing car with the best stereo ever devised in an automobile. Check it out...way to go Bose/Cadillac. Lexus Mark Levinson pales in comparison! By the way, the caddy is my favorite car of all I drove and mentioned, but the dealer was way overpriced on these. They wanted nearly $40k for a used one. I bought this my second favorite/second place Genesis R Spec for 26K with only 25k miles! It is a steal!

Good but no cigar better options out there

Hyundai is trying to build a luxury brand, but, I think maybe they are 5 - 10 years away. I have had several major problems with my vehicle and Hyundai seems to like stating owner problem can not be duplicated and leave it at that. I had problems with the dash lights flickering from night time brightness to daytime brightness and Hyundai could not duplicate. I also had problems with the power windows and locks been driving vehicles with this equipment since the 1990's with not problems. The service experience needs to be addressed if this is truly a luxury vehicle should I be in the same service line as an Accent? All of my service has been done by the dealer, very expensive and my car had been returned with greasy hand prints on the interior, come on Hyundai up your game. Every time something needs to be repaired the parts are never on-hand and must be ordered. The vehicle rides like a truck the ride is harsh and punishing. The high points of the vehicle is the engine is very powerful for a V6 gas mileage is OK but not great, the A/C is powerful, the trunk is large but no fold down rear seats. The low points besides the harsh ride, there is a lag in acceleration which is dangerous and annoying, the vehicle at times can seem like the power steering is not there, the warranty assistance from Hyundai, I called their Corporate Headquarters to deal with my problems the person I spoke with was less then helpful and surly . The resale value sucks, you save on the purchase end but boom get stomped on the resale value. Would I purchase another Genesis no, I will part company with Hyundai and go with a more main stream brand

Totally love the Genesis.

I have read reviews that say 30MPG on highway, i have gotten up to 34.5 I have had MBZ 500s and the Genesis is a lot more car, I probably will not go back to MBZ There IS a surprise, if you are second owner the warranty is only 5 yrs 50,000 miles NOT 10 Year. after 5 years you are on your own. I didn't find this out until I had purchased the car. This was the only negative thing I would say. I can find no reason for the big drop in pricing for 3 years..if you are thinking of buying one DO IT you will not be disappointed!!!

I didn't want this car. But I'm glad I have it.

I bought an Audi S4 from a Hyundai dealership and literally 5 days later it blew up. Long story short, I bought where is as is (car had 100K on it, and a new motor - so I didn't really care and I was willing to take my chances) After a bit of a fight, the dealership - they said "hey, if you buy this, we'll take the paperweight S4 in as a trade. I obliged. I'm a brand snob, I'll say it - BMW and VW/Audi have been my jam since I was in my early 20's. (TT, Jetta, 318i, M3 sedan, S4....) Well, I bit the bullet and swallowed my pride and took on this "cheap" korean wannabe luxobarge. My complaint: The car isn't ugly, it just doesn't have an identity - it's not unique or special in any way - until you drive it. The car is fantastic. 27 MPG on the interstate a low of 17 when driving around crowded Kansas City streets.... but who cares, the car has the most FANTASTIC stereo I've ever heard ANYWHERE. Car, house, boat... anywhere. There isn't much else to say - don't let your brand loyalty sway you from this car. It rules.

Changed my perspective of Hyundai

Car looks & feels great until it stalls at the intersection, or sputters when accrlerating between 20 & 40mph after the repair. Hyundai doesn't seem too interested in repairing performance issues. Their solution is to keep having the customer purchase expensive fuel parts to guess a fix.

Three years later and no complaints

I bought my 2012 Genesis 5.0 new and as my 2nd Hyundai. My first Hyundai was a 1987 Sonata. So, I had a brief 25 year interlude between Hyundai's, but man on man what a difference a generation makes. I immediately changed the wheel, trunk, and steering wheel emblems to the Korean wings (removing or covering the flying 'H') and no one knows what I'm driving. I've had people in parking lots as me how I like my Bentley ;-) And I tell them just fine. The 5.0 V8 gets V8 gas mileage in the city. On the interstate for traveling I average 30+ miles to the gallon thanks to Hyundai's economy mode. What, exactly, does ECO mode do? I dunno - I dun-care, but it works! Driving comfort is second to none. Get up and go is gone up and went. Living in the metro DC area and driving the beltway frequently I've found myself having to yell, "whooo nelly" when I accelerate to get onto I-495 as she will ever so smoothly go to speeds in excess of the speed limit in zero-2-nothing flat. Truck space - two sets of golf clubs and extra room to spare. Back seat - lots of compliments from passengers in the room they have. Ride: The ride is so smooth on both city and highway roads. Tire tread wear is holding up nicely - no issues. All other wearable items and not to much for wear. All in all I couldn't be happier and I'm looking forward to getting all of my warranty (ten years) out of this car.

Traded my 2011 MB for 2012 Genesis after 2.5 years with the E350 4-Matic. Should have done this years ago. I bought in April 2015. It was a leased turn-in with ONLY 5783 miles. First noticed great acceleration...3.8 vs 3.5! Second, fuel economy... 19.5 around town; 32 on the road vs 18 and 28. The great cost savings feature: regular fuel for the 3.8 vs hi-test for the E350! As others have reported, there is a slight lag gear shifting in city driving but NOT on the highway. Mine has the fantastic technology package...front parking sensor is very convenient; rear camera with parking sensor is great; active cruise control does not allow me to sneak up on a slower driver. BTW, great dashboard graphics on the active cruise. Vent seat is great...but, would like vent in passenger seat as well. Genesis's leather seats are far superior compared to the MB's faux leather. My E350 driver's seat developed a crack near the sown seam at 51K miles. I had the 6-year/100K warranty. The MB dealer would not honor...saying crack was due to fair wear. That's BS! My girl friend's 2012 GLK 350 has 90K (she's a manufacturer's rep), has same seat faux leather material, she's in and out all the time, and her seat has not cracked. (Yet one more reason why I traded!) Per another review, I assume the tech package comes with rear privacy curtain. I like this feature...MB had same. Overall, the Genesis 3.8 with tech package is by far superior to my MB E350. And for less, $$$, one gets a LOT more automobile. Oh yes, if you like the Genesis wing emblem, this can be ordered to replace the leaning H emblem....front, rear, and on the wheel rim hub covers. Last comment....WOW! is a great way to describe this automobile.

For the value it's the best midsize luxury car!

I bought my Genesis a few months ago and it's a 2012 with 30,000 miles. It's very comfortable and seats 5 easily with lots of room. It is very quick for its size and definitely turns heads. The only downside is the gas mileage is 22 mixed and city 18. It's a great car for the value!

After a decade of driving Cadillacs -- mostly SRXs -- I decided to see what else I could find in the $40K range. After looking at BMWs and Audis, I drove the Genesis 4.6L and took it home that night. Looked very nice, had far more features for the money. And I have been 98% delighted ever since. Great warranty and pretty good dealer support for normal maintenance. Only problem -- really, the only problem -- is a mysterious failure of the entertainment center once every 80 or so starts. On for 15 seconds, then off for 15 seconds. Can't find a way to correct it once it occurs ... but after being off for a few hours it is back to normal, and normal is very, very good with great sound syste

Never a problem!

I have 40,000 mi. on my 2012 4.6L 385hp v8 sedan. With(10% ethanol) premium gasoline 93 octane, I get 21mpg around town and 26mpg on the highway in cruise (65mph) I found a gas station in NH that sells pure 91 octane gasoline (no ethanol) I fill up there often. My gas mileage immediately goes up to 31mpg (in summer) in cruise control at 65mph. Try to find a car anywhere that has that much HP and still gets 31mpg. Incredible ! (shows what a scam ethanol is also)

I have had nothing but problems with mine, I love the car but I have no confidence with it. The radio has been replaced 4 times, the ac repaired and still does not cool, the radar, rack and pinion replaced, the fuel pump replaced, a fuel purge valve replaced not fuel mileage is terrible. The car is still acting up. Trying to file lemon law with Hyundai, here is what they do. Hyundai draggggg you out till most people give up and trade the vehicle in. It’s been over a year and a half and I can wait another year and half if I have too. I will never give up, and I have told my story to as many people as I can. I have personally stopped two people so far from buying a Hyundai.

This is an update review after owning my Genesis for almost five years. Initially quality issues frustrated me and they heavily influenced my initial reviews / perceptions - my reviews were not flattering - I pretty much said I would NEVER buy another one. Issues were minor but frustrating. A body squeak / pop took a year plus and multiple trips to my Hyundai dealer to find and fix. Well, now all that is behind us - the car is now reliable and has been a great car for the last several years! It is by far my favorite road car - powerful with fast acceleration, stable at high speeds, minimal road noise, tracks like it is on rails, great sound system, 30+ mpg gas mileage, wonderfully comfortable seats. Only thing missing is new technology such as blind side monitoring which was new technology not available when I purchased it. I now like my Genesis better than any new car I am aware of and as long as it stays reliable, I plan to keep it. It still looks like new inside and out and drives like new. I like the styling better than new cars. So why not? Well, maybe that new Equs / G90 will eventually tempt me away from my wonderful Genesis?

Won't buy another Hyundai

I have 33k on my 2012 Genesis. Since purchase in 8/2011 I have had the navigation replaced, the fuel injectors had to be cleaned because they were so dirty the car would stall in the middle of driving and now the oxygen sensor had to be replaced....stalling again, but this time the engine light went on so they could find the problem easier. Last time when it was stalling they couldn't find the problem until after keeping the car for 5 days. Now they recommend I buy fuel injector cleaner and put that in the tank every time I get an oil change in order to keep it from happening again. Even doing this, the car still has a rough idle at the start of the day.

I can honestly say I'm glad I stopped at the dealership to test drive this car. I test drove the Azera, but once you're in a Genesis, there is no going back. Besides being dead silent on the hwy, it has an amazing stereo (I have the tech package), and plenty of other features that make this car a joy to drive. The cooled seats are a must in the summer, and ride is very smooth and comfortable. The tech is a little behind, but if you plug in your iPod or put a CD in, you will not hear a better sound in any other vehicle on the road. I would stick with the 3.6. It is plenty fast, and the super smooth transmission doesn't shift quickly enough to significantly improve your 0-60 time.

I have the 6 cyl sedan and the deadly delay from when you hit the gas pedal till the car moves is about 1-2 seconds from a rolling stop. That's long enough to get someone killed not to mention every time you go over a speed bump and hit the gas it takes a whole second or two before the car moves. That's not positive reaction by any means. It's deadly when you are trying to turn across traffic. Love the car otherwise but will not get another one if this issue isn't fixed. I guess there is no throttle cable and it's an electronic accelarater for the deadly delay I gave it a 2 for reliability because the ac compressor stopped working at 3000 miles and it took them a week to fix it

Great car, blast to drive! Good looking car, most of the time no-one can figure out who makes the car. When I tell them it's a Hyundai they're dumbfounded. Took it to a 4th of July car show and won 3rd place in the Import Car class! Not bad for a 4 door.

Third Hyundai I have bought. First a Sonata GLS, then a Santa Fe Limited for the wife, now it was time to upgrade to the Genesis 4.6L. This car is what I call an "upper-middle class" luxury car. It has all the options that the top German and Japanese automakers offer, but for much, much less. Granted, I have only had the car for 12 days, but it is everything I dreamed it would be. I look for excuses to go out of the house just so I can drive it. Great power, great interior features, looks like a million bucks and will turn some heads. Had four State Troopers stop and check it out in the parking lot at lunch last week. I don't think they knew what it was.

429 HP! 429 HP! Unbelievable size engine for this beautiful car! Hyundai engineers out did themselves on the exterior design, moderate pass on interior (what's with the Accent Steering wheel?). Can't complain, you get a lot of stuff for this price! Lexus pfft! MB pfft! BMW pfft! For this price you can't go wrong! Outstanding value! Outstanding Warranty! This car averages about 21 MPG in our first 800 miles? Not bad for 429 HP!! Sound system is INCREDIBLE! 17 speakers put you in another world! Harmon Kaden, Bose & Fender have nothing on this Lexicon system.

We ought our first Genesis in 11/11. We love the car and have had such good luck with it that we purchased another Genesis last spring, trading in my wife's Audi A6. Build quality is great with no squeaks or rattles and so is the reliability thus far. We are getting about 21 mpg around town in mixed driving and over 28 mpg on the road.

I have had 14 cars ranging from Mercedes E320, Lexus LX 470, Audi S4, Lexus RX 330, Acura TL and the list goes on. I purchased my Genesis and Ive had it a few months, so far the car is great. I love the ride quality and the Lexicon sound system is amazing. I must say Hyundai has give the high end car market a run for its money. I almost puchased another E320 but saved some money and got what I feel is a nicer car.

I have owned my 5.0 R-Spec for 10 months and the car lives up to everything Hyundai said the car would be. There are reviews out there giving the car a medicore rating. I completely disagree with them. The interior is well thought out and the leather is of a high quality. All of the instruments and navigation systems are easy to use. The engine is very responsive and will pin your back into the seat when floored. Cornering is improved with the upgraded suspension. Overall the ride is quiet and comfortable. The Genesis is very sporty for a luxury car though it is not a true sports car. The Genesis is more of a luxury car and a muscle car combined. Still makes me smile!

Very very nice car for the money. I went in to buy the new Azura. Don't get me wrong that is a nice car, but the Genesis is serene Interior well appointed. Feels like a much more expensive car. Lots of room, both front and back seats. Sound system nice!! Only complaint to that is the technology is behind. I have 5,000 songs on a thumb drive and I can only browse in order. Would like a way to sort them by mp3 tags. A/C was a little slow in cooling, but we had a hot summer. Not sure what to blame that on.

I got a great deal on a 2012 genesis with the premium package - just a hair over $34k. After I got done pricing out an Exl Accord, the choice was simple. This car is loaded -- fantastic sound system, great navigation, adjustable lumbar support, upgraded leather, huge backseat and trunk. Really like driving this car. Its slick and classy looking without looking too sports car-like. I got the rebadging package to add the genesis wings to everything, which looks better IMO. I've been getting about 23 average on MPG, which is worse than my old 4 cylinder Honda but not that much worse, and better than most V6 cars. Tops out at 29 on freeway.

Test drove 2012 model sedans of the following: Acura TL, BMW 5, LExus 350, Hyundai Genesis, Infinity G37, Audi A4.... purchase the Genesis. here's why: Quiet... felt better than ES 350 and unlike the Infinity since I dont want to sit on top of a chariot, riding the highways and hear the engine. Comfort... seats, lumbar support adjustments, heated, head room, leg room I am 6'4... you get the picture Open... most spacious and largest of all the other models, very comfortable on long drives. Performance... Quick, love the comute to work. I feel the speed, acceleration and dont hear the noise. Gadgets... everything that I need. located in the right places Looks... front, back, inside

I haven't been this excited with a new car in a very, very long time. I feel similarly about the Genesis as I did with my first car back when I was 16. It was an '83 Buick Skylark which required me to pour gasoline into its carb to get it started haha. Those were the best times. I'm by no means comparing the two, just the lovely feeling I had with my first car and how excited I was every time I had a chance to drive it. This is how I feel with the Genesis. I like nice things, but love saving money. This car fits the bill and provides me with a great feeling when I get settled into its wonderful seats. I find myself making up reasons just to drive it. Really, the experience is terrific.

Do two things: 1) Take an Avatar DVD, throw it in the player, tune to chapter 6 and crank the surround sound; 2) Settle into the leather seats, drive the car on the freeway, and wait five minutes until Mr. Highway Patrolman apprehends you for 'slightly' aggressive driving. If these two experience don't convince you that this car is AWESOME, then you have no pulse. I own the 4.6...because the R-Spec doesn't come in red.

Bought this car over the summer and absolutely loved it for about six months. Then winter came. Had to switch up vehicles after I got stuck in relatively small amounts of snow for the third time. This car goes from absolutely fabulous to virtually useless in snow and ice, particularly in hilly conditions. Apparently everyone in the world knows this about rear wheel drive vehicles except for former Florida boys. It pained me to part with the car but it had to be done. If you live in areas without snow, I would recommend this car without hesitation. However, if you deal with winter driving at all, I would definitely look elsewhere, at least until 2014 when the AWD Genesis and Equus are due.

Great car so far!

I got rid of my 2009 Merc E-350 that I liked but did not love. This car leaves that one in the dust! I'm not used to having this much horsepower, and I love it. It's nimble, quiet, and fast. No tickets yet - but I'm going to have to invest in a radar detector. For me buying this car meant disregarding the fact that it's a Hyundai. I've always owned luxury cars and quite honestly I think there is nothing better than this for the money. I almost think Hyundai could sell a lot more of these cars if they just spun the Genesis line off. I could rebadge this as a Merc/BMW/Audi/Acura and people would fall over themselves wanting to get one.

Overall, this is an impressive automobile and a good value. It clearly seeks to emulate much more expensive sedans from Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes. It comes closer in some areas than others. Some aspects of the car are exceptional - perhaps superior to its more costly competitors; but in other areas, not so much. It's a lot of car for the money, superior in many ways to equal-cost competitors ... but don't expect it to equal cars costing $10, 20, or 30k more... not yet.

I bought a 2012 Genesis 3.8L with premium package last week. After having test driven the 2011 model, I think that this is a nice upgrade in powertrain performance and exterior styling. For the price, I like this better than many of the higher priced Asian competitors such as Lexus, Infiniti and Acura. Fit and finish is excellent, it is fast and quiet and the price/value is tremendous for what you get. My wife likes it so much that she is trying to trade me her Audi A6 for it.

What is all this raving reviews about the car being so quiet! Both the regular v-8 and the R-Spec have unacceptable road/tire/wind noise, especially on the driver side. Changing tires from Michellin to Continental did not help. It is a constant hum/rumbling which should not be there, if Hyundai wants to compete in the "luxury" car market.

For as long as I can remember, my ideal car was going to be a BMW 5 Series, but all that changed with Genesis. After test driving BMW & Lexus, and seriously considering a2012 Dodge SRT8 Charger I went with the Genesis 5.0. The 550i was in the mid $60K, and although the SRT8 was tempting the 2012 R-Spec had the entire package I was looking for, especially since I opted for the Bridgestone summer tires. The ride is moderately harsh but I live in SW FL and our roads are pristine, and coming out of a '08 Sonata Limited I welcome the cornering ability. No company can beat Hyundai's warranty, reliability, and service. I'm 100% satisfied although I think the R-Spec should've included an iPod.

I previously owned a Mazda RX-8, so I can't really compare these two vehicles, since they are from two different categories. However, after pricing other brands: Audi, Acura, VW, BMW, Infiniti, and Nissan, there were no other vehicles at this price point that offered the style, performance, safety, and technology. To get what comes standard with the Genesis 4.6, I would have had to add several option packages, putting the price of the vehicle at or above $50K. Also, check out everything about a car and research before I buy it. I really went through this car looking for where they used the cheap parts to save money. I couldn't find anything. Very well done Hyundai.

The 2012 Genesis Sedan comes as close as I could get for the money I wanted to spend. More surprising though is the technology, the get up and go of the v8 is awesome. I love the body design of the car. My grandson loves the car. The interior is smooth, sharp, and the exterior is distinctive. I love the Genesis Wings - to be sure, I am a happy camper. Dollar for Dollar it can't be beat! Oh ya, I added the Genesis branded hood, trunk, and wheel emblems which really look great. The 2012 Genesis is a wonderful car for the money. The extra 30 hp and the 8 speed transmission this year avoid the need the for V8. It is the equivalent of getting a fully loaded E350 MBZ with more rear leg room and a stronger engine for a price in the mid $30's. All you have to do is change the badging and wheel centers to "Genesis" (available on ebay) and your friends will swear you're driving a MBZ. The interior is very plush and confortable.

I researched the 30-35k sedan landscape, ending up right where I thought I would, with a base 2012 Genesis 3.8 sedan. The Genesis joins our trouble-free 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and replaces a V6 Honda Accord. Prior to the CPO Accord, acquired as a “quick need”, destined to be replaced in 12-18 months, I drove a Volvo S60 2.5 AWD and 2 Toyota Avalons, each for 3 years. Two Oldsmobile Auroras preceded those. Those around you are not likely to be impressed by the “H” on the trunk lid, so this is a car you drive solely for yourself and your passengers. When doing so, you will be rewarded with a strong sense of having chosen well.
