I say the last "new" Hyundai, when really I mean the last Hyundai I will ever own, and the last car I will ever buy new. I bought this car in October of 2011 as a brand new 2012 with 0 miles on it. It was a special order, from the dealer. Luckily, because it was special order, they didn't get the chance to mark it up $1500 like the other cars on their lot. Even still, I barely got out under sticker price. Up to about 20k miles was great, except for the garbage Kumho tires on these cars, which wore out after 16k. 22k miles I had the shifter knob replaced as the leather was deteriorating. 23k I had the heater motor replaced because it was whining terribly. From 23k onwards the clutch throw-out shaft had been making a chirping noise. 15 trips to the dealer.... let me repeat... FIFTEEN. TRIPS. Have all but yet to determine the noise, or even offer to replace parts. 26k I had them replace the clutch slave cylinder and bleed the system... no help. 27k they lubed the throw-out bearing... no help. Fast forward 60,000 chirpy miles later the check engine light comes on. 87k on the clock I bring it in for the light. Small evap leak code P0456. They change all the solenoids at my cost because EVAP is only covered to 82k.... thanks Hyundai. 90k the light comes back on... They clear it, not finding an issue. 92k the light comes on... They clear it, not finding an issue again. 95k.... my FUEL PUMP HOUSING falls apart. Literally cracked completely around the retaining ring and nearly bursts from the tank.... $790 later, out of my pocket AGAIN... it's fixed... because the Fuel system isn't covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. 96,000 miles... I still owe $2600 on this car. Never. Again. Goodbye Hyundai.

Why not a spare? And hate the low bumper - scrapes off the undercarriage in front. Expensive repair.

I was so excited when I purchased my 2012 Hyundai Accent (from a private seller with 53k miles) it is my first car and I found it very stylish. It doesn't have much to offer on the inside, no cruise control no Bluetooth but I loved it... For about a month. The car is so low to the floor that simply tapping the parking barrier when parking can damage the undercarriage. Something I didn't know until my check engine light came on and I brought it to the dealer. Turns out my av compressor got pushed back into the radiatior, and long story short it cost me 2600 dollars in repairs. One month after buying it. Another thing is when you're driving the car it won't go past 45/50 mph until it goes over 2k rpm and that's an annoying trait in a car especially if you highway drive. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't have purchased this car. It's not the worst in the world, but definitely not the best.

I bought my Hyundai Accent Pre-Owned. The color got my attention. The test drive stole my hear! I wanted something affordable and easy on gas - was reluctant at first because I am big guy and didn't to drive something I could barely fit in! Wasn't the problem at all. I drive quiet a bit in Houston daily, so traffic traffic traffic, so I guess getting 31 mpg is good for me - fill up roughly every 4 days and the most it has cost $24.00. I love how it handles and everything it offers. My only complaint is how low it is to the ground - the rear view mirror is level with almost everyone's head lights - people here are to cheap to repair headlights a lot drive with brites on - annoying!

Bought two and they are a great value!

So my husband and daughter were in college. They needed dependable transportation with great gas mileage. She iives in snow country. We live in city. Both have over 50k on them and run great. We bought these because of the gas savings and warranty. For those things they hit the mark. The road traction is great in the snow. Neither car has needed repair. Just tires at 50k.

I've had my Accent for a little over three years now, and I've gone over 80,000 miles in her. She has not given me ONE problem with the engine. Even when I haven't taken her in for regular service in WAY too long or have been driving her long distances with a lot of weight, she is entirely reliable. Now, she's had trouble with other people hitting her, but even those repairs have been perfect and she's back up and running in no time and with no after effects. She also gets great gas mileage; on one 8-hour interstate driving trip recently I filled up before leaving and then only once more when I got close to my destination. My husband is 6'4" and even he fits comfortably in the car.

I come from a family of mechanics and live in TX I have owned my hatchback accent for 3 years, bought it with 4 miles on the odometer. Now have 65k miles on it and have yet to have any mechanical problems with it, very little maintenance. Original tires wear out at 35k miles. I have driven this car icy conditions, the car handled very well, the front wheel drive and traction control did their job. Braking is very sensitive but stops good. Acceleration sucks. But Eco mode saves gas! This is a great city car, saves gas and handles curves relatively well despite it not being a performance vehicle, under 70mph it feels very safe handling. MY HYUNDAI IS A VERY RELIABLE CAR I WOULD RECOMMEND IT!

I bought mine in 2011. One of the first models. I liked the looks inside and out. So I bought it. After owning it for 2 1/2 years I will say that I hate this car. I read previous reviews and would like to let them know that they are not alone. They brought up the same complaints that I had.Poor rear visibility. If this car comes with a rear wiper for a reason.LCD display. (see previous poster) Cheap tires. Do not buy one with the cheap tires. They suck. No spare tire. I swear to God and all that is Holy that was one of the dumbest moves I have ever made. Driving in snowstorms or on slushy roads. Forget it. If you are not used to snowy/slippery roads, just pull over and hope you live.

I have owned this car for about a year and a half ~36k. I loved the way the new Hyundais looked and I decided on the Accent. I got a silver SE trim. I love black interior, fog lights and rims. MPG's aren't that great for such a small car. AVG is 27/36 This is a great handling car. Engine is a bit noisy, however it is very responsive and you can really get up and go when needed. Drove this thing from Maryland to California and it did great. After about 10k I drove through a pretty deep puddle during a hurricane and the engine was damaged (my fault 100%). I ended up having to replace the engine. Hyundai wouldn't cover it because it was "water damaged," but my insurance did cover it.

I bought a 2012 accent last yr new,I like the style and interior but the performance of it is very bad, last winter i had an experience I have never felt with any car,the roads were slushy and I had no control of the car,it was all over the road, stearing went one way and tires went another, also felt like I had no brakes took to dealer,of cource they found nothing also the gas,oh my god it eats gas,and the gas gauge is way off all the time, the range gauge that tells you how much further you can drive on that tank drops 2-3 miles as you are driving, even if I go a block.I have the digital gas gauge and that drops fast to,The dealer says nothing wrong,of course.

It's been one year and half driving this car and 24000 km on it. I love the exterior and interior design. However I would expect more when driving it. This car makes an awful noise when accelerating from stop. It feels the engine is working very hard to move the car, and I totally gave up using the Eco driving because it makes the car even worse during shift transitions. I first bought thinking I could save a lot on gas, because of the 1.6L. But when I drove a Mazda 3 with Skyactive, I was able to do about the same fuel mileage as mine. Also the brakes of this car felt too weak when I had 5 passengers on it, and only 2 of them were a little above average. Had no mechanical issues so far.

I had owned a 2012 SE for one year and just traded it in for a a different manufacture vehicle. The problems were the mechanics made fun of the car saying it was akin to a GEO Metro. Didn't feel to good hearing that. Broke the glove box changing the cabin filter. Broke the new filter but installed it anyway. Left the engine a mess with dirty oil slopped around and dirty hand prints in the car. The next dealer I went to charged me for 5qt of oil, to give bulk oil pricing, and put in 5-30W instead of the spec-ed 5-20W. Hyundai corp suggested I do it myself after conplaing on a post service survey Welcome to two of the OC Hyundai dealerships.

I bought my Accent after 11mo./23000km of use as a rental, during which time it had no accidents or service issues. After my 6mo./12000km it continues to perform without issue. Excellent fuel economy - I achieve or beat the ORIGINAL consumption rating regularly on the highway, though the city rating is a bit optimistic. Smooth ride, perfectly comfortable for long highway trips (I have many). The air conditioning/heating system takes a bit too long to warm up, but that's minor; also my windshield fogs up a bit too easily, but easily managed. Not top-end materials inside, but no problems with them. but Overall I am very happy with almost all aspects of the car and would fully recommend it.

Glad I ditched the Fiesta!

A basic hatchback that has an interior color other than black! Mine is a 6 speed, a real advantage with the relatively small 1.6 engine, but still quite gutsy! I drive almost exclusively highway miles between Albuquerque proper and the east mountains. 23 miles each way, and 43 MPG is my average with a high of 46.5 when I drive like a little old lady (NOT typically!) Convenient controls and placement thereof. A little buzzy but quite tolerable. Good road feel and great brakes. I enjoy throwing it around road curves. decent standard equipment and greatly improved safety over previous model.

although the car is great at first everything starts to go with in the first year. I got my accent right of the truck my problems started before I had even had my car for a year, I had gotten oil changes tire rotations and alignments every 3,000 miles first my front left tire went followed by my back right and now my front right. The car doesnt shift until 6,000 RPMs and is not fun to drive at all. I have been trying to find somewhere to trade this car in at but no one will even take it. Really only 285 miles per tank of gas!!! 30 mpg barely. I am driving 60/40% hwy/city and im not even getting 300 miles per tank. I took it into the dealer and was told that they "hooked it up" and there were no codes showing any problems. I drive speeds varying from 45-75mph....more closer to 75mph. So tell me what i must be doing wrong??? When my wife drives the same as i do (if not worse) and she has the sedan model. She gets close 340 miles per tank of gas. I was told by the dealership (Colonial Hyundai of Downingtown, PA) that it was the way i drive not my car. Should have stuck with an american made car!!

I considered a number of sub-compacts, including the Honda Fit, Kia Soul, Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta before deciding on the Accent hatchback SE. Main considerations were price, fuel economy and warranty length. It's only real competitor for me was the Kia Soul, but at only 34 mpg and about a grand more, I chose the Accent. I paid $16,900 in Sacramento CA for a brand new one with nearly all the options available. So far, after two weeks, here are some first impressions. Two fill ups and about 800 miles: only getting 30mpg so far combined city and freeway. Smooth riding, plenty of pep. Comfy, plenty of leg and head room. Stereo could be more powerful. Ipod lacks volume.

After we got a flat about 100 miles from home, late at night, I discovered that the car didn't come with a spare tire or donut. Spent a fun filled night at a motel dive waiting for the tire store to open the next morning. I'd like to know who the genius is at Hyundai that made the decision that a spare tire shouldn't be a standard item in their vehicles. This should be illegal. At least I now know what type of car I won't be buying next time.

I am not sure why Accent was ranked lower than mazda, kia or ford... I'd like to put Accent at number 2 with Elantra being number 1 on the list (only because Elantra is a larger and more stylish model than Accent)... The Accent is a greater car than the mazda 2, ford fiesta, kia soul/forte or toyota yaris... Considering the performance and reliability (I got a 10-year/100,000 miles bumper to bumper on mine for a fraction of cost compared to other cars' base prices) it is the best option for quality/gas mileage/options... Just because ford provides two extra buttons on the steering wheel does not make it a better car... I'd buy a Hyundai over any brand on that list any given day...

I traded a 2007 Azera for this car. The Azera convinced me that Hyndai knew how to build really good cars; the Accet is the best little car I've ever driven. It is sharp- good-looking, economical, safe, and fun to drive. I get 32-35 mpg driving to work; I have gotten as much as 43 on a trip. The seats are very comfortable. The steering is a bit loose, ad it is not a sports sedan, but it handles well. I'm amazed at how this little motor does at highway speeds. It can cruise at 85. The short wheelbase makes the bumps quite noticeable, but it is unexpectedly quiet.

Made a trip from Tacoma Wa to Reno Nevada last weekend for 3 days 720 miles 1 way averaged on trip about 38 mpg in lots of mountain terrain, got as much as 44.1 miles per gallon doing 65 in the flatlands, very impressive fuel economy and not lacking any power either. First thing I did after finding out the hard way, Side Wall Puncture" on right rear tire, was get rid of the junk Kumho tires and replacing with some decent Dunlops with more rigid sidewalls. d Then found a 4x100 pattern 16 inch wheel and put one of the stock Kumho tires on it for a spare. P.S it does fit in tire space in rear. Car does not come with a spare (Very Poor Idea Hyundai) Pump and fix a flat does not repair a sidewall

Excellent.

I love this car. The quality, value, performance, styling and efficiency are first rate for the class. It doesn't even hydroplane. It took a while to break it in to get the best fuel efficiency - 3,000 miles. It averages anywhere from 35-45 m.p.g. The shiftronic is fun to use. The highest m.p.g. is attainable @ 60 m.p.h. on a highway with the cruise control on. It will get 40 m.p.g., by slowly getting up to speed. I won't even post the highest numbers because it will make the Prius and competitors look bad. Leave eco-mode on if you want the highest efficiency. Driving it the fastest I couldn't get less than 28 m.p.g. This is the best car I've ever owned. I recommend it over Fords I've owned.

This car is the total package for someone looking to save money on gasoline without sacrificing power, looks, comfort, and driveability. Ok when I first got this car I thaught it would be a drag to drive because it was "fuel efficent". Well it's not, I was suprised it's a little beast. Ive broke 115 in a stock very standard model. So it is an absolute thrill for me to drive. Aside from that I love the mpg. When i cruise down the hwy at 70 I get 44 mpg in eco mode, only 33 when doing 80. My only complaint is in my residential area we have alot of stop signs so i only get 10 miles to the gallon till i get to the main roads. Its because of the quick shifts in the lower gears. Over all an amazing car.

Very Happy Accent Owner.

I recently purchased a used 2012 Accent SE with 8122 miles on it. Traded my 2008 loaded Cobalt in for it when I read and heard gas was going to hit 4.50 a gal this summer. My Cobalt was a nice car but at 32mpg it just wouldnt do. The Accent's mileage is Great!! Just filled it up after driving back and forth to work and errands for a week. 4.5 gal!!! So happy with that. Avg 34.4mpg. The cobalt was a pitiful 24mpg at best. The only thing I would have liked is a lumbar support and outside temp. Gauges and radio are easy to see and use as is the bluetooth. This car is just so easy to drive I kind wished I lived further from work......

I really like my Accent. It is fun to drive and quite comfortable. But . . . the radio display LCD is terrible! There is very little contrast in the display of dark gray and light gray, and there is no brightness control. This may be petty, but I'd like to be able to see the clock (hidden in the upper right corner), rather than the radio station that I've been tuned to for the last two hours. Does anyone else have a problem with the display screen?

So close, but a few suggestions

Have an 09 Elantra Touring already, & bought a '12 Accent Hatch SE. I'm blown away by the mileage. Over 35 mixed use; easy to get well over 40 Hwy. The accent is quieter & more refined than the (more expensive) Elantra Touring, w/comparable passenger room, but the cargo space is tighter, & a higher liftover. I'm disturbed by the lack of spare tire; Dealer has promised to alert me when the "donut kits" arrive. Also there is no ext temp display. How much did they save by leaving THAT out, LOL? Paid sticker, plus dealer installed mudflaps & iPod cable. Elecrolyte Green. Other than that I'm completely satisfied. Paid $18,020 including delivery,

This car for the most part is what it is advertised. A cute reliable fun to drive car. My biggest qualm is the gas mileage. I drive my car mixed between highway and city. Their sticker says 30 for city, and 33 mixed. I average 28MPG. I have tried both the active eco mode and standard mode, and actually if I drive it easy in normal mode, do just as good as ECO. Plus, in my opinion, the active ECO mode is actually dangerous to use. I have had Fords that have been dead on as far as the EPA estimates are concerned. They should change their sticker to better reflect the actual fuel economy! Especially since this is the exact reason people buy this vehicle.

This car was bought as a company car by the company for me. MPG were a huge reason for the purchase and I am observing about 32 mpg (not the 42 Hyundai says you will get) however I do not drive with ECO on. Either way, this car is very comfortable for subcompact standards and is packed with features, again for subcompact standards. Personally I own a full size 07 GMC and 09 Maxima, so I know comfort. That considered, it drives very well and induces grins while driving. I recently took a trip from Raleigh NC to Balimore MD in this car and was very comfortable the entire way, keeping in mind that I am a 6'2" 290lb man. All in all, Hyundai hit the mark with this one.

I love this car but I was not "surprised" there was no spare tire, I was down-right pissed. I took a road trip over New Year's and when I was heading back home, discovered there wasn't a spare tire!! Who does this!! What idiot S. Korean engineer dreamed this one up? Scenario: Me and my wife and son hit road debris at night on the freeway which shreds the tire. I'm frantically looking up and down for the spare which doesn't exist. Bang, lights out. I guess Hyundai thinks a tire inflater will fix this. Wrong! This is inexcusable and is a safety hazard plain and simple. I'm notified the dealer, Hyundai and I think I'm going to contact a federal agency to complain.

Hyundai gone a long way.

I have a hybrid in disguise! Just picked up 6spd SE Accent yesterday. Already drove 241 miles and it is still not at half a tank yet. And I was not driving too conservatively. I was revving the engine hard at times taking off treating it like a sports car. Pretty impress so far with the standard features like bluetooth, ipod, decent sound speakers (need sub), satellite radio, etc. Was at 70mph and felt like I was going slow, so suspension is pretty good I have to say. I will update the review if I find anything undesirable, but for now..two thumbs up.

The car looks very nice inside and out, has excellent head and leg room, and excellent driver visibility on all sides. The rear view mirror has a bit of a letterbox view, which feels a bit constricted but offers all the visibility you need. I've been getting fuel efficiency in the high 30s on my commute. The 6-speed manual transmission has adequate pick-up when you need it and the road noise is minimal. The clutch is a bit soft. The dashboard instruments and controls are clean and clear. The trunk is quite spacious, and the back seat can fold down to provide additional room if needed. All in all, the car seems much roomier and better appointed than I would expect in a subcompact.

This is my 3rd HYundai and first disappointment.I bought it for the MPG. Just getting 33 with ECO on hghwy 28 in city and dealer said it was because its cold? Dealer said 40mpg and some people getting47?? Most trips at 60deg. Tried to buy extra key only at dealer for $100 and not available yet? NO sparetire just a run flat can with cig liter pump, which should be fun in cold weather, CHEAP. Hood release right by knee and I have hit it many times on exiting, pain in A. AC control in fan button and hit many times by accident. Poor vision for rear window and better to remove head rests to improve. Other little stuff but out of characters.Test drive well before you buy.

I had previously driven a 2005 Subaru Forester which was totaled in a collision. So when I was looking for a replacement I began to think about what I really needed. I commute around 50 miles per day to work, so fuel economy was very important. Secondly I am 6 feet tall, so I really need ample legroom when I drive. Most cars I end up hitting my knee on the center console, not with the Accent. I did not even have to move the seat all the way back. There is so much interior room in this small car. So far on the highway I’m getting 42 mpg, and with my commuting I’m still averaging 37 mpg! Not bad. I really love the pick up of this small engine, it feels very peppy.

I was absolutely surprised 3 days after purchasing that the ACCENT does not come with spare tire!!! I was not told by salesman!!! Before purchasing, I looked at the truck which was covered with the rubber tray inside. Never thought of any car without spare tire??? How did this car passed JD power associates, Consumer affairs, National Highway Safety and other Federal regulations without SPARE tire??? There should be a NATIONAL recall and every owner should be provided now with 1) Spare tire, 2) Jack and 3) wrench for spare tire replacement and space in the trunk organized. Seriously recall must be there!!!

This is my first Hyundai that i've ever purchased. I bought this car back in August and I have to say I am very happy that I did. Its great on Gas, The Styling of the car is excellent, The Warranty couldn't be beat, and The Price was better than Models I considered such as: Mazda Mazda3, Scion XD, Nissan Sentra, and Ford Fiesta. I can honestly tell everyone that this car is the car to beat. Comfort is so-so, but I also can honestly say that if you choose to want a slightly bigger car the Elantra is a car i almost purchased. Lets see how well my Accent performs in later years. hope this helped.

This car is NOT what I thought it was. I fell in love with it when I first got back in August. Then two days ago, while I was making a sharp turn, the wheel suddenly became extremely heavy and tight to turn as if there was no assist. I had to use all my strength and accelerate in order to make my turns safely! After 10 minutes the steering softened up again. However, yesterday as I was making a u-turn it happened once again! My car is currently at the dealer and I should be hearing from them tomorrow. I am hoping they find something wrong because this is NOT NORMAL OR SAFE! This is not the first complaint about the power steering either, meaning there must be more out there!

Good stuff.

I bought my Accent SE about a month ago and have put 1000+ miles on it, and still love driving it! Other cars I test-drove first: --Honda Fit--Had better visibility and cargo space, with cool fold up/down seats; but no Bluetooth , more expensive, and virtually unavailable for months) --Ford Fiesta was nice looking and cheap, with great Bluetooth for wireless phone and music. But a miniscule back seat and cargo area--doubt it would have fit the carseat with my 4 yr old actually in it, let alone a full-sized person. Also, poor visibility--felt like I had to crane my neck to see out left driver's front window & right rear window. Poor visibility out back d/t small window & huge headrests.

Due to economy had to sell my new 2011 Honda Accord EX-L V-6 coupe. Got $21,500 (best value from Orisman Hyundai). I needed cash for family, and a car, so I checked price on Elantra and Accent. After price of new 2012 Hyundai Accent with all features, taxes, fee's, etc... I made a few thousand. Bought my car Monday October 17th 2011 and so far it does not seem to be like the 'old' Hyundai's from the 1980's early 90's. Good safety features, excellent warranty, decent styling, and strong engine made me giving up my Honda a little less painful. I checked the Honda Civic's/Fit's, but the dealer would not give me as much for my Honda...and would not budge on his 2012 car price. Oh well...

Very nice little car. I was looking for something with great gas mileage to replace my Jeep, and I found it. Performance is great for a V4. Doesn't feel like a toy. Plenty of power for accelerating/passing when you need it. Looks nice on the inside and out. Quiet ride on the highway. The stereo isn't great to my ears, but it'll do for most people. Feels solidly built. Plastics don't feel cheap. I gave reliability a neutral rating because I've only had the car for a week and a half, but I've yet to experience any problems.

I have driven my 2012 Accent for more than 4,000 miles and it is still fun to drive. There is one feature, however, that is problematic an annoying: The LCD display has virtually no contrast, i.e. it is medium blue on light blue. I find it difficult to read under any lighting conditions and brightness cannot be controlled. At night, it glows like a spot-light. During the day, it's just fuzzy. And no, I do NOT have any vision issues. I hope that Hyundai fixes this because the Accent is otherwise a good value (so far).

I've had my 2012 Hyundai Accent SE (mocha bronze) for 5 days now and I absolutely love it! It is roomy and comfortable with plenty of power when I need it. The engine is quiet and still feels powerful when I turn on the A/C. Reviewers like to say it's not as sporty or fun to drive as the other hatchbacks in its class. Personally, I find it plenty sporty with a very smooth ride and quiet cabin. I never thought I would consider a Hyundai let alone step foot inside a dealership but I'm glad I did. I am thoroughly satisfied and impressed with this little gem of a car!

I recently was able to purchase a 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS Sedan with the premium package. I have almost put the first 1000 miles on it and overall I am extremely impressed. The Accent is a great combination of fuel economy, driver enjoyment, and build quality that is made even sweeter by falling thousands of dollars below the $20,000 mark. Driving the Accent is a great experience as a daily driver, offering excellent comfort and with 138 horsepower a great amount of confidence in all situations. Compared to the competition the Hyundai Accent has a price that many consumers can live with while getting the magic 40 mpg mark. I'd make this choice again given the option.

While driving in a 25 mph school zone, my steering wheel locked making it impossible to control my car on a curvy road after having just made a right turn, as I begun to pick up speed, my steering wheel remained in the position placed in order to follow the curve, locking immediately after. My initial reaction was to try unlocking the steering, but it didn't budge; I hit about 3 concrete median blocks, before drifting into an uneven field of grass; luckily, there was a sewage manhole jolting out from the ground managing to slow down my car before I was able to pull the emergency break. If this would've occurred in high traffic, there could've been several casualties, including my own.

I got the SE hatch automatic. Nice car. Fun to drive. Quiet and comfortable. Looks good. Averages 35 mpg. I'm very pleased, overall! The cruise control is useless on uphill grades. The door armrests are hard plastic and uncomfortable. Handling around curves is great but it doesn't track well in a straight line on the freeway, requiring continual corrections. No spare tire, even though there is a space designed for one...cheapskates.
