Plenty of room to transport antiques, food orders &. Beach gear. I live on a barrier island. Great handling and built high enough to get down wet roads safely.

Good family car with style.

I don't think there is anything specific that one would need to know prior to purchasing a Venza. It is a nice size, can haul a lot, big enough to lay down in the cargo area and take a nap if one wishes. Very comfortable in all respects.

Good and spacious but the fit and finish are POOR!

I really love the utility and spaciousness inside the vehicle but have had to have door panels replaced at only 30k miles because they didn't hold up and also my visor fell apart. The inside of the vehicle is really cheap and plastic. The only reason why the seats have held up is because I had really nice buttery leather after market leather added.

A fine choice over the outback

I'm really satisfied with my Venza. It is a joy to drive and I feel very comfortable at the wheel. It's got nice acceleration and plenty of cargo space for it's size. The ride height is great and can traverse the muddy roads during spring break-up in Alaska. Driving in the snow and ice was not a problem in the least.

We've purchased our 2011 Venza new and have had it now for five years and 55K miles We had continual problems with the alarm going off for no reason. That was finally resolved. On and off the steering makes a whining or creaking sound. Recently the sun visor on the driver's side broke--it wouldn't stay up or down, just mid-way where it obstructed the front view. The mileage is not quite what Toyota claimed--we get about 22-24 on the highway. For a vehicle that had a sticker price of $40k, it's definitely a disappointment. The ride is average. They don't make Venza anymore and I think that may have affected the resale value. Judging by various resale valuations, it has lost significant value. On the plus side, maintenance is much cheaper than Honda.

Love it and almost 100k miles!

I bought a 2010 Venza V6 2wd with approximately 20k miles on it in the summer of 2010. It is now August 2013 and I have a little over 98k on the odometer. I love this car! I have had no problems and no issues at all. I am a car freak and typically trade every year. I traded a 2009 Lincoln MKX for this Toyota. I realized that trading so often was simply costing too much so I wanted a car that I could keep for at least 150k miles and looks good...I made the right choice. It has plenty of power and I am averaging approx 20 MPG between city and hwy. I did have a cosmetic issue with a wheel. If you scrape a curb, the wheel paint can start to peel off in large chunks. Besides that, very happy.

There are three problem that we are experiencing with our 2011 Venza. First, and most important, is the fact that small animals are getting under the hood and into the interior of the car (clove compartment mainly). This is due to a design flaw that exposes openings on each side of the vehicle where water drains off the windshield that are not screened to prevent this from happening. Second, the gas mileage is poor. We have the base 4 cylinder engine and there is no way this vehicle is getting the posted mileage-absolutely no way. Thirdly, there are serious problems with being able to see in the rear of the vehicle, making backing up in traffic a real challenge.

My comments seem to unfortunately mirror other who have posted a review for this model. I to have had several rattles pop up, humming from the rear at highway speeds, navigation unit failure, leaking water pump, leaking sunroof, abs sensors replaced, and two battery replacements so far. This is my first Toyota and quite sure It'll be my last.

It's been a rather dissapointing 24 months with my Venza AWD. It's been in no less than 11 times for repairs, rattles in the dash/console, interior lights have quit working twice now along with all the dash backlighting, the automatic transmission sometimes has a very long delay before upshifting, Toyota has reflashed twice now and it works great for a few months then the problem returns....they now blame it on my driving style!?!? Im also very unhappy with the fuel economy, its downright V8 like at 15mpg average with a 50/50 mix of in town and interstate driving. Not sure I'll be keeping this one much longer.

I bought this car back in January of 2012. It was a 2011 Demo. Had all options. I figured because it was a Toyota it would be economical. Well they put all the scheduled maintenance into my financing so that's a plus. Negatives are Huge. We went from a GMC Acadia 2009 to the Venza. Acadia a much longer and heavier vehicle. But better gas mileage than the Venza. The Venza's tank fills up on about $50-$60 depending on gas rates. I am in Houston where it runs about $3+-. The dash at full reads about 300 miles to empty. My Optima at full reads almost $500. My Acadia would read about 450. The other main negative is the lack of room in the hatch area. I am already wanting to trade it in.

Purchaced new off the lot late in 2010 as a 2011 model. This vehicle has been a huge let down, I have had a truly unacceptable amount of issues with it. Lets start with dead batterys, I can't count how many times this car has failed to start because its dead. Toyota has replaced the battery 6 times now, they have no idea where the drain is coming from. I've also had troubles with transmission shifting, rattles, wind noise, creeking sounds when going over speed bumps, a dead climate control unit, and i'm sure there will be more as I only have 37,000 on it. Also fair to mention this baby is a fuel-a-holic, 15-17 MPG mixed with mostly highway is average. I will update quarterly with my reviews

Toyota it would seem uses some below standards materials when it comes to carpeting. My Venza has developed a hole in the floor carpet located on the drivers side. With only 32,000 miles and the purchase of the extended warrantee all the Dealer and Toyota states that it is a wear item. I am hoping that the rest of the vehicle holds up better.

Seems to be quite a few unhappy Venza owners writing reviews here, here is mine. Our car has 26,000 miles and also has the "common" transmission issues such as slow shifting, and a vibration while changing gears. Toyota calls all this behaviour normal. Our's has several rattles coming from the seats and dashboard, toyota has made two attempts to fix these only to have them return a shot time later. Our battery has gone dead for no reason THREE times. Just recently the A/C quit, and the ride feels much more bouncy than normal. Top this all off with a poor average of 17mpg mostly highway fuel economy- Terrible!!I hope I can get a good trade in value for this lemon!

My husband and I just traded my 2006 Toyota Solara Convertible for a brand new, still on the lot, 2011 Venza. This vehicle has every option including AWD. I LOVE IT! This vehicle is so easy to drive and I really aprreciate all of the cargo room-especially coming from a 2 door convertible. The back up camera and navigation are nice features and I am sure that the AWD will come in handy this upcoming winter. Our's is a V6 and it will pick up and move on the interstate. The best part is that we feel we received such a good deal because they needed to move it before the 2013 models arrive!

Bought 2011 Venza w/49 miles on it new. From the start complained of knocking noise from suspension when 1st starting out after car sits for awhile. Toyota says it's common in all Venzas. Also slow shifting in am when car cold. Takes three blocks to shift to 3rd gear. Toyota also said is common. Cannot see myself driving this car long. Must trade soon. Toyota dealership Royal Palm Toyota in Royal Palm Beach Fl. gave me my worst experience buying a new car. Very disappointed in vehicle.

Glad I'm leasing this, I'll be giving it back!

Maybe I should've got the 6 cyl but there is a lot not to like about the 4 cyl. I've had mine for 10K mi and the handling is very poor, the car drifts and seems like it's constantly out of alignment, even right after they align and balance it. I took it in twice so far and it seems fine for maybe 2 weeks then it starts drifting again. Hate it. The power is too weak and the engine sounds like a cheap engine with a course sound. Very loud compared to my Odyssey. Gas mileage is poor, even on the 4 cyl. There is a lot of room for improvement on this car. Meanwhile, I'll be renting other cars for lengthy test drives before buying my next car. :(

Took delivery of our brand new Venza Sept 2010. We now have 56,000 miles on this vehicle. The vehicle has required a multitude of repairs both major and minor, it rides poorly, gets lousy fuel mileage, and as generally not a vehicle of very high quality. Had to have the transmission replaced this past winter because it was slipping, I could go on and on describing visits to the dealer for all kinds of electrical issues such as check engine lights, vsc codes, nav/radio unit malfunctions, and sunroof troubles. The ride is very bouncy and not noticeable during the first leg of ownership. We average just 16.5 mpg mostly highway driving, we have a 2010 Full size GM yukon V8 that gets 19mpg!

I've only had the Venza for 6 months, 8500 miles, but that's been plenty of time to conclude that this is a HUGE step up from my Volvo XC90. For the price of a used luxury SUV, I got a new Venza and LOVE it. The back seat room is much bigger than all 3 of my prior SUV's. I can carry 5 adults very comfortably. This is the first car I've owned where I don't have the driver's seat all the way back...great leg room. You sacrifice back cargo room to get the leg room, but I'm fine with that. I get 24MPG and 95% of that is driving around town. Interior, even on the base, is very nice (I had the dealership add leather after for $1100). I would get the AWD next time, but other than that, LOVE it!

I've had several issues with this vehicle in the last year and half. A total of 14 seperate dealership visits with problems in areas such as- Battery, rattles and build quality issues, transmissiom, heated seats, stability control, and remote keyless system. Toyota service is awesome some days, and terrible the next. I'm not the only Venza owner with a problem car as i've met several more just at my dealership. What happened Toyota? MY 00' 4 runner feels better built at 200,000+ miles.

I get 24 mpg overall and have Avg. 28 mpg highway at 70 mph I enjoy the nav system and the rear view uses the same screen and rocks. Heated seats are sweet also. No wind noise at all, slicgt tire was dampened when i installed a rubber mat in cargo area. fit and finish is nice. I would recomend this car to anyone. The v6 has plenty of pep and is reated for 3500 lbs towing.

This Venza is a piece of CRAP. Have had it for three weeks. You have to rank on the steering wheel back and forth to get the key to turn to start. The key ignition as at a stupid angle. Everything in this Venza is CHEAP. The back up camera is useless. And to top things off Park City Toyota in Medicine Hat, Alberta charged me $ 2,000.00 over the sticker price. They then added on that stupid window etching without my permission. I have to sue them to get my money back that they stole from me. I will NEVER purchase another JUNK Toyota from any of the [violative content deleted] Toyota dealers.

I have a 2009 Venza. Love the car however now having constant issues with VSC lights coming on. Many other people experiencing same thing. Dealers don't have a fix but they won't tell you that because they want to make some money. This is an issue with Toyota, they know this. I suggest you all do what I did, go to Toyota's website and post your concern, demand a recall. This issue seems to be escalating from the warning lights being on to car jumping into gear on it's own. We should not have to pay for constant repairs for something that only Toyota can fix.

I originally wanted a Chrysler Pacifica and was very disappointed that they stopped producing this car. I drove a Subaru Outback for 11 years and I loved this car dearly. I was planning on buying another or Venza, or a Pacifica. I loved the LOOK of the Venza, however the 2009's were pathetic inside. I waited and kept hoping it would improve. I read alot of reviews and the number one complaint was the rough ride. It definitely has a stiff ride but that to me makes it fun to drive. I loved my AWD, but the FWD is working quite nice as well. It is also does not have excellent fuel economy, but is comparable to my Subaru's mileage. Everyday I tell someone, I LOVE MY VENZA!

After much searching we loved the Venza for comfort and roominess. With back and hip problems it's easy to get in and out of. The only design I would change is to bring the windows down another 2 inches. From inside going to drive-up windows, you have to raise your arm somewhat high and try to reach over and down to grab items. Also, the armrest could be a couple inches higher. Very disappointed in the gas mileage! Have had it a month and get just 16 MPG around town! I was use to a V6 Buick. FWD, that got 26 MPG, so this is a big disappointment. It doesn't even reach the gas rating suggested on it's sticker. We don't drive lead foot either.

This vehicle is just about as high up as a truck on the inside, pluus the power steering feels better than the carmy. I love the wood grain interior and My gas mileage so far HAS BEEN averaging 24 MPG with a mix of city and highway. Highway gas goes between30-40 MPG when on cruiise control at m65-70 MPH. I needed room in the back for my work stuff, and there is plenty of space and the cover for there is a god ideA. there is a good idea to put the tint inside the glass & I can see out through the tint at night, no more opening windows so I could see,

I have less than 500 miles on new 2011 Venza and I'm ready to sell it. Very unhappy with the handling. At highway speed it requires constant attention to keep it straight. It just seems to wander out of the lane. It doesn't ride as smooth as I expected either. After first 2 hr trip I thought tires might be over inflated. I checked but all were set at 32 psi. After second 2 hr trip I have same complaint. Must be the electronic steering. This weekend I took my 2007 Honda Accord on same normal trip and remembered how great it handles. It required very little attention to keep in straight. I bought this car to be my primary road trip car because it has larger interior than Hond

I am a mother, of two very active children. So i have a sporting good store in the back of my car most of the time. I was a previous owner of a durango and was looking for a car with the room of an Suv and gad mileage and feel of a car.I must say this is everything i could as for and MORE. The back seat is so big it will grow with my children into and well beyond their teen years. The seats are comfortable, the ride is smooth and the panoramic roof has been a big hit with my family. I get the drive and "zippiness" of a car (just like i wanted) and the room of a full size suv .I dont know why all the commercial are geared to the older crowed.I LOVE THIS CAR very sleek

Nice looks. Lots of power. Poor ergonomics. Cheap materials inside. Seats very uncomfortable. Visibility limited. Rear camera is a joke. Weak brakes. Worse fuel mileage.

We love the car! It has absolutely been a great car so far. Sun Toyota was an amazing dealership to go to and we will continue to buy our cars from here.

I do work for a Toyota dealer and have access to all the cars. I had my Camry for 9 years and the Venza was a perfect next step. Before I bought the Venza I test drove the Ford Edge and Chevy Terrain. I also tried several new sedans to make sure I wasn't missing anything. After driving the Venza I don't think I could ever go back to a sedan.

I've had the 2011 Venza for a month now. It has steadily grown on us.. what we initially liked, now we LOVE! This is a very comfortable car with lots of headroom, legroom and width! My 3 sons are all 6'3" and they fit in the back seat with lots of legroom! It drives very well and handles well. Its not a sports car, but it handles better than our old Honda Odyssey Minivan, and my Toyota 4-Runner. Plenty of power (v6) and all the solid technology (Nav, sat, cd, ipod, etc) you need in a car these days. Gas mileage is about 20 around town and 25 on the highway (80mph). Excellent build quality all around. Panoramic sunroof is really a nice feature.

I wanted 4-cylinder to save gas (180 hp is plenty enough for me). I wanted a hatchback style so I could put more stuff in back. I needed rear seats that folded down so I could put more and longer stuff in. I wanted leather since it's easier to keep clean and looks more professional. I wanted a panoramic roof so that it makes the back seats feel more spacious and comfortable to sit in. I wanted USB and MP3 capability so I don't have to change CDs so often. I wanted good looks on the outside. I wanted a nice, polite, clean and clear-looking front instrument panel. I wanted a non-luxury, well-known brand so I can get max. value for money and it it fixed anywhere. The Venza was it.

Very pleasantly surprised

I was going to go with either a VW Tiguan or Ford Edge or the Venza. VW had to deliver, taking 3 months (salesman originally said 4-6 weeks), Edge was over priced and interior not as nice. Drives well, great driving position and comfy seats. Handles nice, 6 cyl has great pick up from standing and passing. Cons: no power mirror turn in (have to roll down window to turn in mirror), no seat memory for a limited trim line, cups in holders make getting to climate control difficult. Some minor fit issues with interior. Touch screen is not flush with console so I have to bend in my long finger to tound an icon at bottom of screen. Fuel econonomy so so, I have only been getting 24 on highway.

Tires not that much of an issue.

Look at Yokohama Parada Spec-X 420 treadwear rating are 194 each set of 4 with tax in Texas is $915 installed at Discount Tire, Good year has a cheaper tire ar $125 each but it has lower tread rating and a more aggresive tread that will lead to more road noise. The good years can be had for under $600 installed but they would be inferior to the Yokohamas . Remember this car is a more comfortable alternative to a SUV their tires will usually cost almost as much and in some cases more.

some easy fixes to increase sales

I was disappointed that Toyota did not make some easy changes to improve this car. I know it just came out less then 2 years ago, but the number of people who have complained about the tire size/cost/fast wear is very high. Neither walmart nor costco even carry a tire this size, and the local shops want $1,250 to replace all 4 tires - all of which wear out very quickly. yuck.

- No mirror integrated turn signals - No blind spot information system - No mirror with ground lighting - No Interior cabin light delay - No HD Radio 4 Cylinder drive good around the city ,feels compose and stable , intrusive road noise noticeable on back seat, a lot of compartments, love power tailgate, I wish they would offer simulated wood trim on 4 cyl package. Good Voice-activated navigation system.
