I bought the 2011 Versa Sedan, 1.8L with 6 speed manual transmission back at the end of 2010. I drive quite a bit, so the truck I traded in for it was impractical. I was able to get this car with A/C, 6 CD changes, power windows and doors, and the bigger engine for $10,900 (which surprised me, even then). I just crossed over 174,000 miles the other day on the Versa, and it has never seen the inside of a shop. I thought that was a pretty amazing stat, and figured I should share it, just in case anyone reading this was on the fence. I have no motive whatsoever to praise a car, but this one has been absolutely reliable and has been from coast to coast numerous times. Even now, the engine runs just fine, doesn't burn any oil, and has only had oil changes every 5,000 miles (or so). The transmission also, is fine. The MPG are at least as advertise, although as light-footed as I tend to be, it's actually probably a bit like 35 on the highways most of the time. The inside is spacious and will seat/hold luggage for 4 people, easily.
So far so good - bought used - owned it for 6000 miles and 6 months now

I am definitely a skeptic and buying a new car is so hard to do.
I settled on the Versa for 2 reasons:
Leg room and fuel economy.
Both are absolutely acceptable.
The car is spacious.
Compared to any other hatchback or sedan that I have ever been inside of, this thing feels huge.
It fits 4 adults very comfortably.
Since keeping track of mileage I have averaged 29.35 MPG mostly city driving.
If I drive carefully I can get 32 MPG in the city but most of the time I am late for work and have to drive crazy.
I have no complaints really.
The car is solid.
I will update my review after another 6 months.
I really want to like it.

I have reserved judgment for the 30 thousand miles we put on this car but wanted to mention a few items about our Versa SL hatchback with CVTransmission.
I donÂt think the CVT trans was worth it in this car. It was bundled along with a ground effects body package and rear spoiler, a few other interior items and alloy wheels. I would get the regular auto trans in retrospect as this is just a basic economy car.
I would not buy this car again because it feels like it is ageing prematurely.
My wife is satisfied because she can plug the iPod into the radio. I donÂt like the Versa on New Jersey roads- the suspension is too weak to handle the coarse conditions.Buy one only at a great price!

We bought this car for our kids....It's a great car.
I rented one in DC and couldn't help but to notice the space - great headroom and decent mileage.
It's fun to drive and the space - we've taken the entire family out in it...5 of us and my oldest daughter is 5' 10".
Just an all around great little car, loaded with features.

Had this car a year and has stranded me twice.
Up to date on all maintenance and still has problems.
Engine turned off while I was driving down the interstate and almost got into an accident because of it.
I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.
You get what you pay for.
The air compressor is bad and the electrical system is on the fritz.
Local dealership is currently trying to work something out since I am 4k upside down on it.

When my 03 Toyota Camry gave out on me, i was devestated- but it lead to the best buy ever. I am completely in love with my espresso black 2011 versa hatchback. Its sleak and trendy and very fun to drive. I love fiting in smaller parking spaces and and the great added features that I chose really puts my "luxery" camry to shame. Between the cd, am/fm, ipod dock and auxiliry plug i'm never bored in my car. I love the inteligent key and bluetooth. Couldn't ask for more! love love love it.

=) Love my 2011 Versa! I have 2 children and Im going to be commuting a lot for school. Lots of space and GREAT mileage! I can get an average of 30-32 mpg.
I was looking into the Honda Civic's but their so much more expensive than the Versa for pretty much the same thing!! for the price of an SL Versa with a Nav AND sun roof it would have only gotten me a Base model of the Honda Civic. =/

I love my versa, got a certified pre-owned with low miles.
Lots of room, very comfortable and i have a long 45 minute commute to and from work.
This car is so fun to drive and i love everything about it.
Lots of music choices am/fm radio, cd player and mp3 jack. Seats are very comfortable and am enjoying the cruise control--first vehicle that has all the options, keyless entry, alarm, power locks and windows and lots of room.
Just can't say enough about this car, if your looking for a great value and excellent gas mileage this is the car for you.

About the 1.6L engine- Here in the U.S it is positioned as the less attractive engine for the lowest trim levels. But the truth is, the 1.6L is the largest engine in a family of engines that excel in fuel economy, and most Versas around the world (called Tiida elsewhere) get the thrifty 1.6L(including all Canadian sedans). The 1.8L isn't related; it's a de-stroked Sentra 2.0L. The EPA ratings for the 1.6 seem artificially low. I consistently get 36 MPG combined. A light foot brings 40-42 MPG hwy @ <70 MPH.
Ideally I'd want more top end HP, but the torque curve is better than I expected. 5sp gearing gets you to 45 MPH quickly. Smooth little engine with nice exhaust note makes this car fun

When we were shopping we also looked at a Honda Fit. The thing is that a requirement for us was that anything we bought had to be able to take our bicycle in the back, ideally without having to take off the front wheels. The Fit would not even accept one bicycle even with a wheel removed while the Versa would take one ready to ride and two with the front wheels removed . So much for the Fit's superior cargo versatility touted by the Edmund's writer.
This car really fits our lifestyle and who we are. Handling is perfectly adequate for the way we drive. So is performance. Yes, we give up a bit for the extra size. Every time we gas up it comes out to 30 mpg, not terrible but not great.

I love this car! The nice people at Cronic Nissan in
Griffin Georgia got me a great deal on a new 2011 Nissan Versa & I'm tickled to death. When you sit in the seat it looks like a sportscar and the seats are on the same frame as their more expensive cars so it is comfortable. The stereo is wonderful with the MP3 jack. The only thing I don't like is the hatch was to be locked and unlocked by the drivers door and there is no hatch opening in the car so you have to take the key out of the car to get something out of the hatch if you don't want to let down the seat. Other than that it is an amazing car for the $.I drove ten in the lower than 20 k price range. Get a Versa, you won't be sorry

I bought this car for my daughter to drive. It's comfortable and spacious inside, looks great outside (red hatchback with tinted windows and spoiler....zoom), rides and handles very well, gets great gas mileage, not to mention lots of cargo space and all this at an affordable price.
I like it so much I'm considering getting one for myself.

This car moves quicker and handles better than the Impala that I drove previous to this vehicle. Gas mileage averages at 31 at mostly highway driving but I like to drive close to 80mph. If you are thinking that this car is too small, take a test drive. There is more interior room than most cars out there.

I needed a economical car after totaling my G-6. The Versa exceeded my expectations. It's roominess and comfort is more like cars that cost a lot more. I play in a band and needed a car to carry my instruments and equipment the hatchback gives me plenty of room. The drivers position is higher so you have a great view of the road and traffic. Performance is good with the 6 speed manual and it is fun to drive. I have been averaging over 30 mpg in combination driving. One of the things that impressed me was the fit and finish of the interior, everything looks well made.

My wife and I actually bought two 2011 Versas. I got a 1.6 manual and she got a 1.6 automatic. We both love them! The 1.6 has power nothing, which is fine with me. It's a great starter car or for someone who wants a great car but doesn't care about all the frills. The interior room is amazing for such a small car. My legs have a 36" inseam, but I have plenty of room sitting in the back seat even when the front seat is back as far as it can go.

I recently wrote a review on my purple disaster of a chevy equinox and not long after It gave out completely at 40,759 miles. So I finally got it started and drove it to clay cooley nissan in duncanville Texas and I absolutely fell in love with this versa! It's huge inside! It absolutely blew my mind how large it was and the gas mileage is unbelievable! I love everything right down to the little meep horn! It's practical, affordable, the insurance is cheap and it's easy on the pump as well as the eyes, legs, and back. However this is not the car for speed, the sentra has way more power but it can hold it's own, bottom line, perfect car for me
