All of the cars I own have more than 200K miles on them, I take care of my cars. That being said let me get into my story. The car had been repaired by the dealership at -closed- Mazda in Fremont, CA rear bumper damage during transport, this was not disclosed to us until after we complained we found pink bondo underneath chipped paint. Who repairs a plastic bumper with bondo? That isn't the cars fault, this was the dealer so onto the actual car. I like the amenaties of the car Bluetooth, awesome speakers sun roof tineed back windows. The ride is good acceleration is good brakes are good, except for the parking brake, which I think is useless, car completely rocks forward after setting luckily the actual park gear is their. Seats are comfy steering is average design and look of the car is good. Plenty of space, road noise, I don't notice road noise much but I listen to music with my windows rolled up. Tires, wow one brand makes your tires, special order, ~$200 a tire, go to costco they have a great warranty service. I had to replace the battery around 36K miles, replaced it with a $200 5 year battery warranty from O'Reilly awesome place a bit expensive but I like the peace of mind. I do not like the placement of the side impact airbags located near the front windshield on both passenger and driver side, this is a very bad flaw in design, it restricts vision to the corners of the car. This is very annoying because it is supposed to protect you. I'm not trying to say it completely blinds you, but it is blocking some portion of a very important spot in your vision, bad. Other than that the car is aesthetically pleasing and very spacious gas is ok. This is my major problem with the car, I have a service warranty on the car covers oil changes and maintenance, I love it every car should have this service, but wish I opted for the extended warranty for power train and transmission. Here is the story: 2011 MAZDA CX-7 I have owned this car for less than 4 years and it has ~40K miles on it. On October 30, 2015, my wife called me distressed, saying that the car sounded funny on the freeway driving to work. Luckily, after exiting she was able to park the car close by in a metered parking area safely. Later that day, while on her lunch break, she got back into the car and attempted to leave. She normally started the car, released the parking brake, put the car in reverse, lifted her foot off the brake and the car did nothing. At this point, she called me and alerted me of the issue. Our insurance company offers free towing, so we took advantage of that, thank you AAA. We towed the car to the Mazda dealership and they were nice enough to take the car in for storage until repair day. Our car is outside of it warranty. My younger brother also has a Mazda CX-7, but it is an older model 2010. This anomaly also occurred with his car, last year. His Mazda needed a new transmission, which I am assuming will happen to me. Video proof and footage: https://youtu.be/7dfi80znQNI I hope this helps you guys. I don't usually write reviews but when I do, it's bad.

This SUV is fun to drive! It drive more like a sports car and handles really well. There is plenty of power from the turbo charged engine. As for the comments about the A/C I have had zero problems. It blows ice cold air on the hottest of days in Arizona. With over 80K have had the car in the shop once for repairs due to a tire issue. Maintenance costs are relatively low, although I would recommend using synthetic oil. Highly reliable and looks great.

Attention MAZDA / 2010-2012 owners Mazda North America Operations has issued a NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 14V114 stating that yes "Spiders may Block Fuel Tank Vent Line". I only have 13,000 miles on my CX-7 GT and believe me Mazda should be addressing the Turbo problem, AC problem and braking problem. Spiders, give me a break. As I said in my prior comment bought a 2013 Honda CR-V base am very pleased with it and just ordered a 2014 Honda CR-V EXL. I still love the styling of my CX-7, but that is about all. Drove CX-5 and extremely disappointed.

Bought our CX7 in August 2011 new, vehicle now has 10,000 miles. CX7 is a big disappointment. AC not adequate, turbo hesitates, paint job brilliant black is inferior and gas mileage poor. Complained to Mazda and after BBB intervention Mazda extended the warranty. Gave this vehicle to our daughter who is in graduate school. Vehicle has 23000 and is well maintained and detailed every 4 months. On 8/10/16 NHTSA sent recall notice 16V593. "Water may enter the front suspension ball joint fitting. Driving on roadways during the winter months in areas that use roadway salts (Phila., PA) can lead to salt and water intrusion into the ball joint, causing corrosion, which can result in loosened of the ball joint in the fitting. As a result of the looseness, a rattle may occur at the lower control arm ball joint. After intended operation in this condition, in the worst case the ball joint and lower control arm may separate". SAFETY RISK: "The vehicle may experience significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash". REMEDY: "Dealers will replace the lower control arms". RECALL STATUS: "Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available". Contacted Mazda and they will get back to me in mid September. Unable to sell car if I wanted to dots open recall. Simply frustrated and disgusted with Mazda. Trying to sell this vehicle and unable to trade in due to open recall. On 8/30/16 this vehicle only has 23000 miles. Just purchased a 2013 Honda CRV (8/2013) base model, because we were not sure we would want to keep it long haul. The Honda is trouble free. AC is wonderful, vehicle is well built and solid. Only have 2,000 miles, but can not say enough positive things about our CRV. The paint job Twilight blue is excellent. The gas mileage is 18 city 30 highway as tracked on computer. Honda continues to be a great vehicle, now (8/2016) has 25000 miles with no problems. Regularly serviced and detailed every 4 months.

I have all ready established a series of form comments under A/C problems. It appears that the extremely loud banging that I experience when I first turn on the A/C in the morning is normal or at least that is what Mazda field engineers told Reedman Toll when they were going over my car. When I wanted to further discuss the problem with Stephanie a Mazda field representative at the "800" Mazda number provided it was fine for her to record the conversation, but she immediately hung up when advised I would be recording too. To state that I am discussed with the manner in which Mazda is treating me as a customer is an understatement. Recommend Mazda, not me not a chance; not there for you!!

This is my fourth Mazda. My previous Mazdas over the years have been very reliable. It looks like the reviews on this car are a mixed bag and a lot of discontent with AWD and the A/C. I did not want AWD because of added problems/maint and if you are going to purchase an AWD car buy a Subaru. As far as the A/C goes I live in Arizona where its very hot. There is a TSB out on the A/C for this car. Demand that the dealer fix under the TSB and your problem will go away. From a reliability perspective I have had no problems with mine. For mileage I get about 23.7 mph in mixed driving. The car is very fast with the 2.3 ltr and police have been my biggest drawback.

I purchased my CX7 the day before Thanksgiving last year. Overall I am not impressed with this vehicle. It has already spent a total of three weeks in the shop because of air conditioning issues as well as electrical issues. For this vehicle not even being a year old I am VERY disappointed to see the plastic lenses getting cloudy on the head lights. This is something I would expect from a 8 to 10 year old vehicle. When I asked the dealer about it I was told this is normal. This vehicle practically lives in a garage, while at home it’s parked in the garage, and when I am at work it is parked in the underground parking – never really sitting out in direct sun light enough

We bought a 2011 CX-7 in February 2012 and have loved it! Just out of curiousity, I decided to see what the KBBV was, I was shocked to find out it's worth about $6,000 less than we paid for it.The only problem there has been is today, temps of 96 outside, I go to get lunch and the air conditioner was acting CRAZY, it went from barely blowing to blowing as hard as it could and went back and forth the entir time, my husband has a 10 am appointment for it to be checked out tomorrow, so I guess we will see. As far as the mileage, I have had the cruise control set at 60 and the display is showing I am averaging 37.5 MPG which is very good. Try to update you all soon. Wish us luck?!?!?!

I drove over 800 miles on a weekend getaway with a rental CX-7 AWD and the least that I can say is that this car is a disappointment. I spent a fortune on gas, the car was averaging a bit less than 18 mpg on the highway and about 12 in city driving. There was no fun to drive, the turbo has almost no kick. I was shocked to see that the car didn't have electronic temperature control, a feature that 15,000$ car now have. For that price range, I would without a doubt buy a Ford Edge that looks way better and that is tens time more fun to drive and has 20x more features than the CX-7. Shame on you Mazda.

I love this crossover, compared to other competitor's the Mazda CX-7 is #1! Fun to drive and even comes with great features. I have the sport with convenience package, which is by far the best package. I just can't live without the heated seats, interative bluetooth, back-up camera and the moonroof. There are two ways to fold the seats down, there is even a release button to put the back seats all the way down, and you can put all your grocery's in the trunk with each. My husband is 6 ft 5' and has plenty of room when he's driving, so there is definetly alot of head and leg room. I received so many compliments on this vehicle. The best car for your money!

Wife wanted a new ride and liked the styling of the cx7. Felt like the price was good for the amount of car we were getting. Liked the fact that it is totally built in Japan ( the Japanese are known to take pride in their workmanship). Read customer reviews and was scared by all the turbo engine problems,so stayed away from it. The standard engine is not bad and avg 24 mpg with mixed city/country road driving. Drives solid but slightly bumpy. After 15,000 miles my main complaint is the transmission. I just don't like the way it hesitates to downshift after slowing down. I haven't had any problems so far. Only regret is small interior with two kids. Price to pay though for decent fuel economy

Still Skeptic (trying to be positive)

there has been some problems so far. we hace 2400 miles on it. the air con is not the strongest, during our hot summer in Orlando it does not cool off no matter how far you drive. Mazda told me the days are just too hot being over 100 degrees. we suffered for about 2 weeks this summer with a brand new car that cant cool off. then yesterday i noticed a strange smell coming from the engine compartment. i made an appointment and not sure what the problem is now. im beginning to think we should have purchased the Toyota rav 4

I bought my first mazda (mazda3 s) used in 2009 and I loved it. Since then I have bought 3 more and now I have a 2011 mazda3 s 2.5 and we just bought a 2011 Mazda CX-7 i touring. My wife loves the car, and I do too. It drives VERY nicely and is very well put together on the inside with alot of attention to detail. As far as being pokey, I have not seen it at all and I have the non-turbo engine.

In the past, Mazda's interior design was light years ahead of anything American you could buy so I was somewhat disappointed with the interior design of the CX-7. Don't get black interior as everything shows up on it. It's got all sorts of "extras" I don't need and don't use such as blue tooth, 5 disk cd changer (who needs that), and a link for a mp3 player. I must admit the heated seats are nice when it's cold out. Other than these extras it's just a basic car that drives well and gets me where I need to go. I'm not much of a gear head so I'm not even going to try to say anything about performance.

Stay away.

As suggested by another reviewer.... stay away from this car. The reliability is HORRIBLE on these cars. Mazda needs to scrap their powertrain on this one and start over again. Interior hard surface plastics do not wear well and look cheap in comparison to it's peers.

We purchased our CX-7 a month ago, and are very unhappy with it. Do not buy this car, it is impossible to get replacement tires for it. Only one manufacturer makes them and they are completely out of stock and on back order. We have a punctured tire and no way to fix it. Also while car has decent handling and nice interior features, it is not the most comfortable seats. Really wish I had not bough this car.

Picked up my brand new 2011 CX-7 last week. Great price and excellent trade-in (2006 Honda Civic) made this an easy choice. Have close to 600 miles on it. Nice smooth, quiet ride. No issues so far. Getting about 26 MPG combined, probably will get better after the "break in" period. I'll come back and give everyone updates.

I had to wait until April 2011 to get a CX-7i touring. I had rented a CX-7 tubo in Colorado several years ago and liked it but not the $20/day for gas. The CX-7i touring is so far very nice. I have taken it on several trips already (1200 miles and several 300 miles). Rides great and handles like a good sedan. Very short turning circle which is handy. I am getting 20-22 mpg in town. I am a bit dissappointed in the highway mileage as it is on the order of 26. Only have 2500 miles on it so maybe it will improve. I think the non-turbo motor had adquate pep for frwy crusing (70-75). Tested a CRV, RAV4 and several other alternatives (Escape for example). The CX-7 is a better car- my view

After driving my Mazda5 for five years without one problem it was time to trade. I looked at other brands of smaller SUVs and Minivans but in the long run the reliability of my 5 and my great dealer service persuaded me to stay with Mazda. I have had the CX-7 since Aug. 2010 and so far there has not been even a trace of a problem. The CX-7 has undergone improvements in ride, quiet cabin and interior appointments and they are all appreciated. The seats are very comfortable and the dashboard it really smart looking. On my most recent highway trip I averaged 30.5 miles per gallon. In normal city driving I average 22 mph. I love the car.
