This is my second RAV4. The first was 2007 Limited V6 4WD with 120,000+ miles, and was totaled in an accident. As for safety, it did great! Front and back were crushed but my wifi and I walked out of the accident... With minor whiplash. We're ok. So, we looked for another RAV4 with the same style. Found 2010 LIMITED V6 4WD (love the V6 power) with only 20,000 miles. This is better because it has backup camera and smart key--love that feature. We are going to use this car for many many miles and long long years. Best SUV we ever had. Btw, we had a Touareg and it's ok.

Love my RAV

With nearly 84,000 miles, I have very little trouble with this car. The trouble is in the form of a few recalls. I have looked at newer RAVs and still prefer my old one as Toyota has removed some convenience items such as a double glove box (the new RAV has only an opening at the top where the old second glove box was), the sunglass holder above the windshield (I like having a place to put those), and a covered middle console (it is now open). Cutting corners like that will not necessarily make me a repeat customer if I can find another car I like as well. If Toyota would return some of the convenience items, I for sure will be buying another RAV. It also handles very well in snow (a big necessity in Minnesota). My main focus when I buy a car is how comfortable the seat is for me (I am 5'2" and the seat makes or breaks the car for me). My RAV fits that bill and I like the fold-down seats and huge hauling capacity in the back. My only real complaint is the noise level in the car. There seems to be a lot of wind noise which results in my having to turn up and down the radio/CD player. Other than that I am a huge fan of this car.

Classic Toyota gave us a car buying experience that we will never forget. We drove in from Kentucky to visit with family, and to buy a car for a better value. We had looked at our Capital One email who referred us to classic Toyota in Waukegan. Once at the dealer we were met by Diana Romero who was our sales and leasing associate. Diana was friendly, knowledgeable, and she offered us coffee, snacks, and just had a wonderful personality. Diana gave us back our faith in car dealerships because of previous experiences we had vowed never to go to a dealership and purchase a car. We told Diana our monthly price range and she was able to stay within a close proximity to what we wanted, and she was very honest from the beginning about what Toyota financing could offer. I will definitely refer friends and family to that specific dealership. :)

Upgraded from an Altima due to the arrival of my daughter. The V6 engine and transmission are oustanding. Interior is overall great, seats are comfortable, equipment on limited is generous. Trunk is very spacious and practical. I purchased it on 43000km, now at 100000km. I've had a few surprising bills on it, specifically 3 shocks, a wheel bearing and a sticking parking brake cable, as well as a loose cable to the backup camera and an occasional glitch where a random radio button doesn't work. The ride is at best acceptable but not as smooth as I'd hoped, I put the softest tires on possible which has helped too (the Toyo a20's were not good) This will be my one and only RAV4, the thought of downgrading to a 4Cyl from the V6 is not appealing so when this needs to be replaced I'll get something else.

I wanted a well rated small SUV with lower owner cost, so I recently bought a 2010 Rav4 and love how fun this car is to drive! PROS: The V6 has lots of power and better gas mileage than my last car (a Mercedes C300) and I love that the Rav uses regular grade gas. Lots of cargo space, roomy back seat, and the radio's aux is great for using Pandora on my iPhone. Nav and back-up camera are great features! CONS: Hands free phone system's mic is poor quality. Braking is a little slower than I'm used to. Cup holder insert is too small for a travel cup and without the insert, it's too big. Not a big deal, but a little frustrating. Overall, I LOVE this car!

After having both a 2002 and 2004 CRV, I bought a 2007 RAV4 with the V6. It had greater usable cargo space and the V6 got 22mpg when the 2 CRV's never got over 21mpg with a 4 cyl. The 2007 RAV4 got totaled in an accident, so since I was very happy with it, I bought another identical V6 4x4 base model. I bought it with a Toyota trailer hitch and I have no problem towing a 8x5 Big Tex trailer loaded with a John Deere 2320 tractor plus 3 Labs in the back cargo area in 3 large dog kennels every week 80 miles to a farm I own in the next county over. The total weight of the trailer and Tractor is 2850lbs. I still get 16 mpg with that load and the power and braking are more than adequate.

I brought the 2010 rav4 limited v6 awd brand new on a lease. I owned it for almost three years and have put 26,000 miles on it. The v6 engine is amazing, super fast and can pass anyone. The JBL stereo system is awesome. The bluetooth works good. The rav4 doesn't like corners and takes longer to break then most small suv's. If you open the moon roof while you are on the freeway, there is too much noise. The leather seats are not very comfortable. But other than that, great car and Toyota sells the best cars out there. I never had a problem.

Pros: handles surprisingly well with good acceleration and steering, decent gas mileage, good JBL sound system, interior foot lights are sweet, 4WD mode is great since it is superior to AWD, heated seats, very little serice work needed except re-torquing the drive shat every 15,000 miles, interior design is good especially the fold flat rear seats, lots of cargo space with easy access. Cons: very noisy-can't even talk on the phone due to noise level, small steering wheel, poor visability out the rear but all cars are like that now, front license plate gets damaged in car wash.

I bought 2010 Rav4 base 4x4 at Carmax on my return from overseas. I needed a reliable, roomy SUV quickly for a long road trip. I love to drive. Fully loaded with stuff, using a/c, 28mpg highway (despite only 4 gears, a happy surprise). Totally reliable, lots of storage room, side swinging rear door ok, full size spare tire a godsend. Grossly uncomfortable driving position for this 6'2" 210lb male, no lumbar support, my knees rubbed against console and window controls. The worst was the loud, arthritic creaking from all the RAV4's body joints on launches, turns and stops! It sounded like a Yugo. What's up with Toyota? I traded it in on a used GLK.

Pleased with pre-owned RAV4 (28K miles)

After wanting to downsize from my minivan with the additional goal of improved gas mileage, I initially test drove a pre-owned Ford Focus and it was ok but quite compact especially the second row leg room. I happened upon the RAV4 in the same lot. I really liked how spacious the leg room was in the second row and I really liked the back storage. I am 5'2" so the cargo door is a plus because I had to be on my toes with the van hatchback. The full sized spare tire is also a plus; I read some neg reviews about its location but I think it's much easier access. My combined gas mileage is 25.4 M-F due to hwy commuting; on the weekend which is more in town it's 25.1. Overall a good value.

Have had this car for 2 years now and clocked 20k miles on it. From the outside the Sport package is quite handsome and aggressive. I don't even mind the tire on the door. Then you get in and drive it. The 4 cyl/4 speed gets the job done, but there is no joy. The handling is good for a Sport Ute but can be jarring and at times uncomfortable particularly on long trips. Tight cabin for a 6' tall guy. Interior bits are cheap. There's plenty of space for your stuff which is why we purchased the car, but coming from a '04 BMW 325i this car is a little disappointing and leaves me longing for days of yore. Toyota cheaped out on this car and it shows.

I have had this car for a year and a half. Toyota is the worst company to deal with. After 7,000 miles the brakes made a garggiling sound and would not come to a complete stop. I have my wife and kids in the car up in the mountains on a sunday afternoon. Called Toyota and they wanted to charge me $500.00 to tow the car to a dealership. Towing NOT covered under bumper to bumper. Also the tires on the car only lasted 22,000 miles. The radio will turn its self off for no reason. All the dash lites go on and off then the car dies. BIGGEST PIECE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not [non-permissible content removed] with a Toyota driver manual. (it wont get the job done) MAJOR FAIL TOYOTA

Purchased my Rav4 in Oct 2010 enjoy the car very much. Easy to drive and did very well in the snow during winter. I get an average of 23 mpg. In June 2011 I was rear ended while I was at a stop and the person was going 50 MPH and the car did so well in the accident. I was very impressed how well it took the hit from the other car.

We bought the 2010 Rav4 base model 4 cylinder because we owned a 2003 4runner and wanted better gas milage. the Rav4 boasted 21 to 27 miles per gallon. Yeah right! More like 21 all the time! Also the "4 wheel drive" isnt really 4 wheel drive. It is only active until you reach 25 mile per hour! Then it's just a two wheel drive. And did i mention the suspension? It was sooooo stiff you get beat up in the drivers set day in and day out. Over all i was very disappointed and paid wayyyy too much for this thing! it just felt so cheap! Well we traded it in this week for a 2009 Subaru Forester!

My wife and I both love this vehicle. We've taken it on 2 very long trips and it perfoms great. We get over 26 mpg. Our only gripe is that the bluetooth instructions in the owner's manual are complete garbage! I've had to take it to the dealer 3 times to get the bluetooth working. The rep at the dealership (who told me she had to "go to school to learn how to program phones for Toyota's bluetooth technology) had major problems trying to get our phones synched up. It took her over 40 minutes to get it working. She also stated NOT to follow the owner's manual instructions. What should be an easy application made difficult by Toyota's good for nothing instructions.

I got my 2010 RAV4 this September so it's only been 3 months but so far, so good. I traded in my 2004 RAV4, which I did enjoy driving as well. The 2010 is much roomier. I love how the backseat folds down so easily (I had to take the seats out in the '04), there is a lot of room in the back, and the drive itself is great- smooth and not a lot of road noise. My main complaints are the cupholders and lack of change drawer! I drive 50/50 highway/city and get ~22mpg. I wish this could be higher but I have the V6, 4 wheel drive so I guess that comes with the territory!

We are a toyota family, going back to 1966 and my dad's 67 Corona. I couldn't decide between the forester, rav4 and the honda crv. What convinced me to get my rav4 was that it was the only one with a v6. We just drove our rav4 to Palm Springs, California and back, from Tacoma. We had 4 people and at least 500 pounds of climbing gear both inside the car, and on top of the rack. We averaged around 21 to 23 miles a gallon to LA and back. The car has a ton of power, and can cruise at 80 all day, even uphill and loaded down. With nokian happelita studded tires it is a tiger in the snow. 6000 on the odometer and perfect so far. You can sleep stretched out in the back. Best car I've ever had.

We bought our RAV-4 at the beginning of the year. We got the RAV when the price dropped to the same level as the Forester. The stock tires were fine the end of the first winter. I bought some Blizzak DM-V1s for this winter as the OEMs have poor ratings for winter driving. No problems with combined mileage at 27+ mpg. The vehicle rides a little rough and the steering, brakes, and accelerator are a bit sensitive.

I purchased my RAV4 after looking at the Honda CRV, Acura RDX, Kia, Mazda and Hyndai small SUVs. I was previously driving a 2007 BMW X3. I was able to get an excellent price on my purchase after using Edmunds dealer quote program, sales price was even $1500 lower than average displayed. I have driven my RAV4 for 600 miles and am already averaging 23 MPG.

I bought this vehicle after months of researching it and other vehicles. I can't believe I never came across anyone talking about the navigation system which does not allow you to use it when the vehicle is moving! I couldn't understand why the nav would only work sometimes and then on a road trip 2 days ago I finally stopped at an out of state dealer that told me why. It is so dangerous to stop to use the navigation system! I never would have bought either the car or the car with nav already in it. I feel cheated and betrayed and likely sell this car and demand a rebate from Toyota.

Best cargo space in its class, lots of useful compartments. Was skeptical of the spare on back and swinging back door - now I love those features, make the car even more practical. Leg room in the second row is impressive. Acceleration is adequate. Gas mileage great if you drive carefully and don't unnecessarily rev up the engine; on a highway when driving not more than 65mph you can easily get 30 mpg. I own mine for 2 months now, I do 50/50 city/highway mix and my average mpg is 28.2, weather and driving conditions were perfect, though - during winter and sweltering summer days I expect the average mpg drop a little, perhaps to 27 not lower. Oil change every 5K instead 3K - like it too.

I couldn't be more happier with my Rav4. At the price point of the Base Rav4, I feel I got a reliable vehicle with lots of great features for my money. Really like the side opening rear door, full size spare tire on the back, ease and location of controls, nice radio with XM Satellite, attractive exterior and lots of cargo space. Also, quiet motor, no road noise and a smooth ride. I have the extra value package which was worth every penny. My Rav4 is a blast to drive and so far is trouble free. I'm a satisfied customer and very happy with my decision to purchase the Rav4.

I bought my RAV4 7 months ago and I've never liked a car better than my new one. Ride is smooth enough and all these things I read on reviews about vibrating and stuff, never experienced it except when I'm driving on rough roads and unpaved ones, quite expected I would think. My car is the limited model and the convenience of the features really fits me well. The only thing I don't like about my car is how much I paid for it. Gas mileage is very reasonable since I'm primarily the only passenger plus my little dog, we're so happy to go out of town occasionally on weekends with comfort. I agree it's no escalade nor a Land Rover, but it certainly fits most responsible, low profile people like me

I love its design which is both fun and classy. Toyota doesn't need to resort to cheap tricks to get a higher selling price for a quality vehicle. The interior is perfectly designed (and I believe other manufacturers like Hyundai have taken note of this). This vehicle handles curves almost like a sport car. The radio lighting is a little dim during the day which is awkward but at night the interior lighting is a show in itself. Its classy, its all-purpose, mileage could be better but worth the trade-off for its response. Luv it!

I traded in my 04 RAV4 and considered CR-V (I owned a 98 CR-V), Outback, and Equinox. I finally chose the RAV for the V6, reliability, gas mileage and space. Also, they were dealing at the time because of the media blitz about unintended acceleration. This car gets about 1 mpg better than my older 4 cylinder RAV and is much faster and roomier. It's definitely built light weight, the body panels seem pretty thin from the outside. I have no road noise complaints after driving two other small crossovers for the last 12 years; it's noticeably quieter than those. When my commute was largely freeway I got 24 mpg (actual). Now I drive short stop and go hilly trips at 4200 ft elevation and get 22.

I just leased a 2010 RAV4 Limited FWD I-4 last week (for my wife). I was concerned about some of the negative comments about this vehicle. I leased it in New Orleans and then drove it 570 miles back to my home in Kentucky. I drove up US 61 through the Delta to keep from driving a constant speed on the interstate. My car is a 2007 Cadillac Escalade and I didn't find this car to be any louder than the Caddy. I got 29.7 mpg which I think is great. I also found the seats to be very comfortable. The interior trim is very acceptable for this price range IMO.

I am 5'7" and have a long torso - seat is so uncomfortable I am going to physical therapy. Neck and shoulder pain while driving is horrible. Bumpy ride felt more so on newly paved roads for some reason. It feels like the wheels are not balanced or aligned properly or something. Online research regarding same showed numerous people have same problems with seat being uncomfortable and bumpy ride. Don't limit yourself to the 5 mile or so test drive that the sales rep "allows" you. I regretted buying this car after about a week. Also, stereo is bland and low end.

I Bought a base rav4 w 4 cylinder in July and I am shocked at how noisy it is. It is like riding in a beer can on a bucket. This is by far the noisiest vehicle I have ever owned. Vehicle sounds like you are in a constant thunderstorm. They also never sent me a survey of my opinion of my new Rav4, they did however sent me 1 for the Camry I bought the same day. I can't wait to get rid of Rav4. I took it to the dealer because I really thought something was wrong and they said that is the way they are. The brakes grind always, they are weak, you hear every seam, reflector, bump, patch and sound on every kind of road, even on smooth highways. I am beyond disappointed in this vehicle, I am mad.

I've had the Rav4 for about 4 months now. Overall I'm very pleased with it. However some of the small details really show a drop off in Toyota quality. I really like the V-6 engine in this light SUV. It has great get up and go. The ride on the Sport model is a little stiff but it feels very solid. The space is a nice improvement over our previous Corolla. But this is where one of my greatest disappointments comes in. The interior quality of my 99 Corolla is far better than the new RAV4. Inside the Corolla there are a lot of soft touch surfaces and the plastics are of a superior quality. The cost cutting measures really show through when it comes to the interior materials.

Love this fun little SUV!

First of all I have to say I was hesitant to get a Toyota after the whole ordeal and was on my way to sign on the CR-V but decided on my way to stop at the Toyota dealer on the way. WELL, I leased a limited RAV4 got it with NAV and Bluetooth. It is SO comfortable and has so much power! we took it on a road trip to the smoky mountains carrying 4 adults and my 2 years old. everyone were comfortable and happy. the car did well on the mountains road. Very impressed with the V-6 power and the smooth ride. the car is very responsive and fun to drive. I also wanted to mention that I got the maintenance package with it and it even includes free oil changes and car washes! Well done Toyota!

Over a 10 year period (between wife & I), i have driven the following; Ford Escape (2004), Honda CRV (2006), and a Subaru Impreza (AWD, 2008). Of course i am bias but as of right now, this Toyota is far superior. Also looked at the Subaru forester turbo but dealership was not willing to deal. Thankfully, because then i drove over to Toyota and realized that for me, this is a much better fit. It is not perfect but for the price and what it is, it comes close. As of right now, i am getting about 1 mpg less than my 170 HP AWD Subaru! BUT i have 100 more HP! And i love tapping into it. Also, my insurance premium dropped by $1/month!

My 2007 RAV4 had zero issues in 40K+ miles. Even the original brakes and tires were still serviceable. The 2010 has a few welcome pluses - More power on less gas [we'll see]; a scuff plate on the rear bumper and a nice mpg readout. Sure, the ride's a little jiggly and the driver's seat not too comfy after an hour or two, and the idle's rough with the A/C on, and that weird tailgate doesn't open like all the others - BUT - There's plenty of space for 4/5 adults OR a lot of cargo with the seats down. About 25 mpg average; over 30 on the road. Plenty of zip, even with the I4/4 speed power train.

Decided to downsize from a 2005 Sienna XLE to reduce monthly payment & improve gas mileage. Toyota was offering $199 lease & with taxes, etc am paying $252 per month. Averaging 24 mpg (Sienna 15-18) Seats comfortable but ride is very bumpy. Front seat area feels cramped. Headrests force me to sit with seat back out of my comfort zone to avoid sitting with my neck thrust forward. Poor placement of cup holders. Doors do not lock automatically. Quick handling. Good storage in back. Occasional squeaks in dashboard. Occasional grinding sound when braking. This is my 4th Toyota in 16 years & my least favorite. I purchased this rather than a car so we could haul things easily.

I highly recommend buyers first rent this vehicle and drive it on a weekend trip. That's how I fell in love with mine. I narrowed my selection down to a RAV4 and a Nissan Rogue. The RAV4 is much roomier - my kids feel the back seat is very spacious. My RAV is fun to drive and comfortable and the interior looks more "rich" than the Rogue. My only complaint is that the majority of the Toyota dealerships we called were not willing to come down much off the sticker and in fact some were quite arrogant about their pricing.

Don't buy unless you want to feel every bump on the road - The sports model with Flat-Free tire has a very noticeable bumpy ride. At this it is very annoying, with the vehicle wobbling, driver shaking like he has convulsions. Works well on a smooth and even road, which is not realistic to expect. This ride quality does even come close to 10-year old Camry and 4-year old Sienna.

This my second RAV4. Since my 2007 model, Toyota has improved the engine - more power, less gas, a LOT smoother. It's comfy for 4 or 5 adults with plenty of legroom; extremely roomy and useful cargo carrier with the seats down. With a light foot, it will top 30mpg on the road; about 25mpg average in mixed driving. Dull interior; this is a Base model but even the pricey Limited isn't much better. The ride is still a little jiggly, but it corners much better than you'd expect. Excellent brakes and steering, too. Solid build quality. I got a great lease deal on it; much cheaper than the used SUVs I was looking at.

I bought the Base Rav4 in August, 2010. Everything is great, except it vibrates a lot and is very noticeable, especially at speeds greater than 50. The Dealership tried to help and rebalanced the wheels for me. It did not help. At the dealership, the service manager and I test drove another new Rav4 and it did the same thing. Called Customer Care at Toyota, and their expert said that they are just made that way and to get used to it. So, I am looking to trade it in soon. And our 2005 Camry vibrated if the wheels were not perfectly balance. This will be my last Toyota. They have gotten way too big and quality issues are popping up and they and really don't care.

I almost did not buy a Rav4 due to concerns of Quality going down at Toyota. We had a 2005 Camry that vibrated of the highway if the wheels were not perfectly balanced. Well, I took a chance and got burned big time by Toyota. My 2010 Rav4 vibrates at speeds greater than 50. Other 2010 Rav4s tested at the dealership (after I bought it to compare) also vibrate and Toyota officially told me that they were just built that way. I have come across a couple of nearly identical complaints on the internet. Now I am looking to trade for a SUV that does not vibrate. Toyota could care less, but I would never buy another Toyota.

First Rav4 after a Camry for six years with nothing but routine maintenance. Hope to get the same from the Rav. Comparing the SUV to the Camry car is like apples and oranges. They have there own values. Enjoying the Rav as the vehicle it should be. Has some road noise and a rougher road ride because of the Sport suspension and larger tires. There is trade off. All wheel drive, firmer suspension, safer vehicle for us who travel in winter climates and the build quality where it counts is there. You want a Caddy ride buy one. You want quality and a fun road safety vehicle SUV buy a RAV4.

Being a car freak, it's not hard to choose the 3.5 L RAV4 Sport over its competition. Somehow, I can't feel there are 268 HP under the hood, maybe because of the weight of the vehicle. On the other hand, it really handles the curves well (in fact, handles better than my Lexus IS350), thanks to the sports-tuned suspension.

Hi, I am very disappointed with the bumpy ride for my sports model with the flat- free tires. I am not sure if it is the tires or the suspension. Very annoying! Very annoying! The car is leased. Traded in a 2002 Buick Rendezvous with 100,000 miles on it. Only have 2,500 on the Rav4 sofar. It is a fun car to drive. The V6 is powerful and the steering very responsive. I'm a little larger in size than some and the on drivers' door the ridge that extends out gives me some trouble. Wouldn't mind it being flatter for more leg room. If I put the seat all the way down it works better for me. MPG has averaged out at 23.4 all around on the gauge. Best MPG so far 27 MPG going from Illinois to Mackinac, MI; averaging 65 -70 MPH. I would say the A/C definitely holds the MPG down about 2 MPG with constant use during the recent 90+ weather here. JBL speakers are great.

Wife and I bought new RAV4 in May. Got the 3rd row seat option as we have two small boys. Seems like the usual Toyota quality from a mechanical standpoint. Ample power and interior room. 3rd row seats will only work for children in the younger than 10 year range. Not a lot of leg room between 2nd & 3rd row, but lots of different configuration options with 2&3 row seating. Negatives include interior door panels on driver & passenger side that encroach leg space. Some discoloration on the edges of panel because of leg rubbing - very irritating for a brand new car. Dash display button on steering wheel is unnecessary. Top glove box storage bin feels cheap. Good car overall.

I have just purchased my new limited rav 4 6cylinder about 2 weeks ago. I love having this SUV but I do hear a very annoying noise when i drive between 38-40. It sounds like a high pitched ringing noise. Has anyone else noticed this problem with their rav? I seem to think it is related to the transmission. I once owned a jetta v6 and I had the same problem with that car. It was a complete nightmare. They had a batch of bad transmissions replaced it twice and still no good. Finally bought the car back from me but lost money. I hope this is not the case with my rav 4 but if anyone else has noticed this sound I would love to hear from you. Thanks

Searched for several months for an SUV, needed a larger vehicle than my old sedan also considered the 2010 models equinox, Honda pilot, Toyota Highlander and 4runner. After test driving all of them, narrowed down to the rav4 and Highlander. Loved the 4runner but it was over my budget, the 2010 highlander had a huge visibility issue when looking through the rear window but to opt. For backup cam was a 2grand price jump and bad body lean on curves, came down the offramp and I felt like I was gonna fall off my seat. Rav4 had the same v6, fully loaded around 32k so got the rav4. Visibility is great didn't really need the backup cam. Mpg is averaging 21.5 city not bad yet to get highway mpg. 1000 miles driven.

I traded a 2002 manual honda civic for the RAV4 because we had a baby and needed a bigger car. I love the power upgrade from the civic, V-6 is a big jump in hp for my daily driving. It doesn't take the corners like a car, but it does handle fairly well with the sport suspension and larger wheels. We were almost ready to buy the CR-V, but the power of the V-6 sold me. So far I'm averaging 21.5 mpg, pretty good mix of highway and city with the A/C on all the time because it's been hot. Also drive on the more heavier footed side of average, not crazy, but more pedal than probably about 3/4 of the people out there. Overall its a nice car so far.

Previously owned a 98 olds bravada then an 03 chevy trail blazer. Liked both of them a lot. Both drove a little rough like a truck but served me well. I still wanted an SUV or crossover, one under $30,000, but with a little better gas mileage and handling. I test drove the Santa Fe, Tucson, Rogue, Escape, Edge, Outback, Forester, and Equinox. All had nice features, but non left me wanting to drive one home that day. Finally decided to drive the Rav4 and fell in love with it. Husband really likes it too and he doesn't care for suvs. Love the blue color and the V6. It's early, but think I will really like the Rav4. Got it for a good price according to Edmunds. You've read the rave reviews and already know that the RAV4 is a great car and the best choice in the small SUV class so I won't repeat all of its great qualities. Instead, I'll use this space to point out my 2 main gripes about the vehicle. These are the things that I wish someone had warned me about before I bought. I don't know if it would have changed my mind, but it would have been nice to know. One is the interior noise at speed. Far noisier than a car at this price point should be. Source is mostly road noise, but mechanical and wind are also contributors. Second is handling; not as crisp or responsive as it could be. Please pay attention to both of these issues before you buy.

We got the limited with the JBL radio which sounds like a concert, awesome sound. The only complaint is the toyo tires they make some road noise which I plan to change to the Goodyear gas mileage saver tires. Highly recommend the RAV4 you will not be disappointed. I wanted a car I could see out of, park, and back up without hitting every curb in sight. I never thought I could drive an SUV. I absolutely love this car. I just traded in my 2009 Toyota Camry LE for a 2010 RAV4 4WD Base model. I must say, I do not miss my Camry at all! The RAV4 is great. It drives so smoothly, handles well, looks awesome. I guess the only drawback (compared to say the Camry) would be the quality of the interior. The RAV is very nice looking, but the Camry is more "luxury" on the inside. I suppose if I would have gotten the Sport or Limited it would be a little fancier. Still, it's a great looking car. I did quite a bit of comparing to the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V, and Toyota tops them both!

This is our first SUV, we like it very much. But we are having an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment coasting at 32-28 mph. (similar to posting on 5/26/10). I brought the car to the dealer and had a tech ride along with me and he heard the noise but was unable to pin point where it was coming from. They have the car now and will do more testing to locate the problem(s). Is there any more of you that is having this problem? Let Toyota know.Thanks. This is my 5th Toyota and probably the most fun and most economical one I've owned so far. I bought it off the lot with the options that came with it and I was very pleased that it came with more than just basic options. It is great on gas, handles very well, easy to maneuver, surprisingly great pep for a 4 cylinder, tons of cargo space and storage, very user friendly with all dash controls and love the design and the Pacific Blue metallic is a beautiful color. I love that the rear door opens to the side rather than raise like a hatch-back, it makes loading and unloading so much easier. The only complaint I have would be that it didn't come with the rearview camera.

I turned in my AWD GMC Acadia and leased my Rav4 Sport w/V6 in January and just love it. Had two major snow storms (20-24"+) just after purchase and this thing cuts right through the snow with no problems. AWD system performs much better than my old GMCs did. V6 engine is great. Sports Appearance Pkg. is great also as I can't stand having a spare tire on the back door. Mileage on the Hwy is 25 mpg about 19 mpg around town. Very roomy for a small SUV.

The vehicle has less than 3,500 miles and already needs a new camshaft. It's been in the dealership for 3 weeks and still has not been repaired. They are working on it.Dealership keeps telling me it will be soon.I've contacted Toyota Motor Company and they have been ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. Once it's repaired I will always have concerns about the reliability. I would never recommend buying this vehicle.

Test drove this and Subaru Forester. Rav4 was miles ahead in comfort. Dealer was easy to work with and lease deal was better than any competition. Have driven 5000 mi. 3 things stand out to me a) it has good pickup for a 4 cyl, and corners really well. b) I am getting @28 mpg on average, not just highway, on some long trips I get 30. c) cabin features are real nice; decent stereo, lots of ergonomic storage. Biggest negative is high road noise at higher speeds. Changing out the OEM tires is probably first place to start. second negative is how many times Toyota keeps contacting me to ask about my experience(@ 20 emails and 2-3 phone calls). They should just focus on building cars.

Still loving it!

This has been the most enjoyable auto I've owned. I love everything about it. I bought this RAV4 2010 in Oct. '09 after much anguish, having just bought a brand new Honda CR-V-EX. As soon as I drove the Honda off the lot, I knew I made the wrong decision. 6 weeks later and taking (an obvious) loss, I traded it for the RAV and have never regretted this costly mistake. It's a fun, comfortable vehicle to drive, has a lot of power (4 cyl.), handles beautifully and most of all, being single, feel extremely safe with any Toyota but especially the RAV 4. I've had it now for 7 months and I still have that new-owner-can't-wait-to- drive-it excitement about it.

This is my fourth Rav4, I love the size. However, this 2010 is much noisier than my 2007. (outside noise) At 30/32 miles per hour, while coasting, it is making a terrible "growling" noise. I called the dealership, they said no other complaints and if it is intermittent, which it is, they won't be able to pin point the problem. Is anyone else having the same problem? Otherwise I love it, but I am afraid something is going to happen out on the highway and I will be stuck.

I am a first-time crossover/SUV buyer, in which I traded-in my 1997 Honda Accord (the best car model ever made, in my opinion) w/ 160,000 miles, and felt it was time for an upgrade since I'm moving to a mountain state. Going from a car that got 31 mpg hwy to a heftier and less efficient model was tough, but I have actually been happier than I expected, with the RAV4. I get an average of 24 mpg, and probably up to 26-7 on the hwy. I had heard that the Sport models have a rougher road experience b/c of the tires, so I opted for the Base model instead. Compared to my Accord, there is less engine noise and much less road noise than some of the CR-Vs I test drove. Overall a good, smart choice!

I recently bought this vehicle from Napa, CA and I love this one. It has a great pickup and power. 269 bhp is not too bad. Unknowingly, I bought the one with built-in GPS and I regret to buy that. I didn't know that it won't speak street names and when you move, you can't select another destination until you pull over somewhere. I was very disappointed with this GPS overall.

I've been driving my Rav4 for about a year. So far it's proven very reliable. Switching from a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C280 to the Rav4 was a huge difference in performance, but even at 4-cyl it gets the job done, more than well enough i might add, when I need some passing power. I'm in college and involved in multiple organizations which requires me to transport large equipment for food sales, parties, etc. the spacious room when back seats are folded down is remarkable. Handling is great, I use the cruise control daily. Toyota is the way to go, despite the companies recent setbacks.

Very practical car, quite spacious inside, though you cannot tell from the outside. Nice styling, large buttons inside, lots of cargo room here and there, especially with second row folded. On the downside, the interior is very simplistic, the steering wheel is too small to my taste but on the lighter side of steering, which I kinda like. The brakes are marshmellowy. The 4 cyl engine is peppy and is surprizingly agile in all conditions, feels more like V6, actually. Too noisy though, engine noise is very intrusive, not like in Camry (though same engine). Mileage was disappointing -- 12.5L/100km.

After owning my RAV4 for about 6 months, I can report that I am very pleased with it. I live in the south suburbs of Chicago and have about a 25 mile commute each day and average 24.0 mpg. This does require that you go easy on the accelerator. But its nice to know the power is there with the V6 when you need it. I replaced all the factory floor mats with weathertech floor mats. My kids are in a lot of sports, often riding with muddy shoes and it is really easy to dump the weathertech mats out. I also added my own towing bar to use my hitch mounted bike rack. Very easy (4 bolts), and way cheaper to do yourself in lieu of buying from Toyota.

My wife choose this vehicle as she will be driving it the most. We have only owned the vehicle for two weeks but are very satisfied with the RAV4. The V6 is freaky powerful with lots of fun acceleration. She did not like the rear door mounted spare tire, as it detracts from the nice style of the Rav4. She said it looked utilitarian with a Jeep CJ look. Choose the Sport with rear tire delete. I did notice a stiffer ride with the sport tuned suspension and 18" tires compared to the Limited we drove. Good mileage for our new found freedom to travel yet enough cargo space to fit our daughters dorm room in. At 6",2 the seats run out of thigh support for me, but wife finds it comfortable.

Disappointed in gas mileage, it isn't was they say it should get. Avg is 21 MPG. There is road noise and i agree the cup design is in the wrong place. The stereo is low quality. The Corolla had a better stereo system and cost a lot less. Overall happy with the purchase but think Toyota should go back and offer the 0% to those that purchased 6 months ago. That would show customer appreciation!!!

New Rav4's are almost the same size as 2nd gen 4runners, and the V6 engine is fantastic, 10 more horsepower than my bosses BMW X3! I got 4wd and had no problem driving through snow to go skiing. The interior is pretty nice, the seats fold easily and it is easy to get my surfboard or a bike in the back. I think it looks great in the Sport edition and in general am very pleased after 2000 miles and one west coast road trip. It looks and feels like a much more expensive vehicle. I had a small car before this, though, it hurts at the pump. My MPG are around 21. In general, I don't care what Kanye West has to say about RAV4's, I love mine.

This is my second RAV4, bought just before recall. It is in no way the same car as my 2003, which had a superior sound system, a quieter engine, and a boxier shape I preferred. Before the news of the recall broke the first impression I had driving this was that Toyota had cut corners since 03. The annoyingly loud drone of the 4cyl at low revs makes it sound like the car is not warmed up/struggling, thought that's not the case. It handles well and the interior is far superior to other compact SUVs in the class I tested, including CR-V, Mazda Tribute, Hyundai Tuscon, Mercury Mariner and VW Tiguan. Toyota is buying mine back, but I may go for 6cyl as other SUVs in class a large disappointment

I need the other glass holder for key. Hate that I can hardly see the clock. It has pale orange background and black numbers. Ugly plastic inside. Too manly. Really don't like the light color floor mats. Am using old ones from another car, because it would get dirty in no time Who would put creamy or light color floor mats in a car! The steering wheel is too small Mostly don't like all instrument panel is not illuminated enough. I kept turning the light in every position to see if clock can light up

Fabulous visibility when backing up etc., CON- Very upset about the gas pedal recall. Purchased vehicle mid January 2010 and recall happened shortly afterward. Ouch! Do not like the front cup holder positions. Cups block power plug. Would like air/heater controls for rear seats. Would prefer the rear door to hinge upward instead of opening to the side. Really needs some basic lumbar controls. Overall would have given a much higher rating if it never had the gas pedal recall but it has caused so much anxiety that I don't think as highly of Toyota now

2010 RAV4 4WD (4432C). CF FE MF QV. 101 miles the TPS light began to flash. Then stayed on. I checked the tires, they are not low. I slightly overfilled the tires and the light went out. 174 miles the TPS light goes back on again. Tires are not low. Rattles are everywhere; like surround sound. Front seats lack thigh support, again. The value of the display button on the steering wheel is comical. So far I'm not convinced this is a worthy effort by Toyota. I've owned 10 Toyotas in 23 years and I've never had any problems with any one of my cars/SUVs. I leased the 2010 Rav4 Limited V6 because I wanted a small roomy SUV with good gas mileage. The good: It's roomy, has great power, its comfortable, good options, and handles very well. The bad: Lots of road noise (my 2009 Highlander is nearly silent). You hear just about every noise on the road. And so far, the gas mileage stinks! I have almost 3,000 miles on my car and the mpg has never been more than 20.3 mpg. I drive 85% hwy, no traffic, between 65-70 mph, and I'm not hard on acceleration or braking. My tires are normal & the dealer tells me the car is "just learning my driving habits", huh?!

Excellent ride comfortable but not mushy, corner very well, amazing steering for a Toyota, 4x4 like a dream, and great Transmission. After 3,500 I am amending my review, and I now regret my purchase. Recall issues aside, I have a Denso pedal and my car is not on the list, I am beginning to think that Toyota's quality problems are not limited to the recalled parts. The transmission shifts abruptly at low speed, my driver's door handle sticks, my breaks squeak, rough idle, and my gas mileage stinks (best 23.5 on the highway at speed limit). When I was at Toyota for a recall inspection, I told the service manager and he replied, "Try putting premium gas in," which the owner's manual says not to do. I paid too much money to be driving a vehicle reminiscent of a Ford.

My choices were either a CRV (our old vehicle) or a RAV. We decided to go with the RAV and we are in general happy with our decision, especially since we got a good deal on the price. The main problem is the fuel economy. On my first fuel refill, it was 14mpg. So far, I have not been able to get more than 18mpg between refills. I asked the dealer to check it and apparently they can only do this in the summer. They also told me that the winter mpg is supposedly less, but an average of 14 - 18 mpg is a joke. In comparison, my 1999 Honda CRV averages 20 mpg. I only have about 800 miles on the RAV and the mpg may just improve with use (I certainly hope it does).

Just purchased so I cannot comment on reliability but only initial observations. Car feels more solid than other cars in class. Doors have a definite "thunk". Drives easily like a smaller car but has lots of room in both front and back seats. Standard features cover most of the important items like AC, power windows/locks, window tint. Really nice suspension that absorbs most bumps and breaks in the road. 4 cylinder feels torquey but definitely does not have wow factor. Test drove 6 cylinder and it had really good power but hesitated to downshift at highway speeds. I am hearing some rattling from the rear of the car which is troubling for a new car.

With 50/50 lock and downhill assist control it works great in the Utah "crawl" down busy ski resort canyons. The V6 performance is also a great benefit with plenty of passing accelleration power. The drive is light and nimble - great for in town driving but not as stable as the heavier full size SUV's. But the storage rocks - hidden bins under the fold flat floor, lots of nooks and crannys for sunglasses, etc. Drink holders for taller bottles. And the seating comfort is quite good too - I regularly drive it on 6 hour trip

This is FUN to drive!!

This is my 1st SUV in many years, but it won't be my last. Previous vehicle was a 2000 Avalon that easily moved past the 100,000 mile mark. The 3rd generation RAV is actually pretty good sized. This vehicle is so much fun to drive. The V-6 sounds great and is really "hot", but fairly economical. A great sound system is enhanced by the access to XM Satellite radio. The solid safety rating (including being surrounded by airbags) is comforting. The Smart Key system has you lamenting the fact that you have to use a key to open your front door in just a few days! I live in a hilly area, but the AWD got around in 7" of fresh snow like it was July.

Test drove & extensively researched both 2010 RAV4 & CRV before buying--(previously had a 2002 CRV & loved it). Comparison was a tossup, so got a RAV4 mostly just to "try something new". After 2 months...it's a great car, but overall, think I preferred my CRV. RAV4 interior design/quality leaves much to be desired. Biggest letdown is the whole front console/storage/cupholder arrangement--storage room is unhandy and limited; your drink blocks access to some controls & dashboard storage nook; plastic is flimsy; center console too low for an armrest. And if they can dispense with the clunky exterior tire on Sport model--why not on ALL RAV4's??

Vehicle drives well, better that expected, mileage around 19-20 MPG in city, 24-26 on the highway. The brakes are very spongy and low, if you have a big foot, gas/brake peddle combination possible. Scary on icy roads. The brakes take too long to engage unless pumped up. First time back to the dealer's for problem NTF. I am back for a more comprehensive analysis and am awaiting the out come. I am told it is the nature of the beast with disc brakes all around, Not Happy...

After relocating to New England, I decided to buy a 4-wheel drive and purchased the Rav4 Sport model. After the first major snowfall, I was convinced that I had made the right decision. This terrific car cut through the snow like it was not even there! It's beautiful, responsive, and fun to drive. Also, I like the Toyota reliability. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a car that is reliable and will take on any type of weather!

Just bought 2010 Base I-4 FWD RAV4. So far, it seems like a good SUV. I had fun driving it on hilly, twisty roads in my area. It had enough pep to merge into traffic on a 65-mph HWY. More energy than expected. The radio is better than some of the reviews I've read, but I'm not one who needs the best audio. Seats are firm; hoping they soften a little with use. The headlights on the RAV4 are surprisingly bright! I rarely had to use my high beams (unusual for me). The rear door needs to be changed to a left- hinge for sale in the U.S. Plenty of storage room. Would like more space to rest my left arm on while driving. Love the exterior design. Even the base model is sporty.

So far so great...

I just purchased the 2010 RAV4 V6 4x4, and got a heck of a deal too. While I don't love the styling of the RAV, the power that its V6 offers is very impressive. It handles well, and accelerates through traffic with ease. The ride is smooth but the transmission shifts a little rough. Overall, if you can get a good price, the RAV4 V6 is well worth it. I am kind of disappointed that they filled the interior with so many plastic features though. There is no place to store stuff and it feels a little tight. Also they could have put a few more lights on the instruments like on the cruise control.

Went in to Toyota dealer during "Toyotathon" to look at limited edition Rav4. Was disappointed to find no V6 on lot, or at any nearby Toyota dealers. Had already decided that 4 cylinder/4 speed transmission would not do. Test drove Limited 4cyl/4spd transmission at dealers insistence and was blown away. Great pickup and gas mileage has been better than expected. Four speed is perfectly mated to engine and downshifts appropriately for steep hills. Cruises at 65mph with only 2200 RPMs. Perfect commuter vehicle for me. Car performed well in recent Virgina Blizzard/Ice storm. Waved bye bye to lots of pickups in the ditches and trees.

Bought this vehicle two months ago and could not be happier with it. Everything actually works, it's fun to drive, gets decent gas mileage and it was delivered without a scratch or ding on it. I'm hoping to keep it that way. And with the v6, no problems with passing on the highway. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a new ride.

We were initially set on getting the base model but after driving the Sport model we were sold on the upgraded version. The V6 almost packs too much punch. We took it on a road trip to LA from Nevada for thanksgiving and it handled extremely well in the rain all the way home. This car has the perfect balance of performance, size and price. My wife says she is happy she doesn't look like a soccer mom driving it; we just had our first child and it is perfect for our small family.

I needed a 2nd car that is easy to take my 85 year old Mother back and froth to the doctors, shopping and so-on. I looked at the CRV and Forester but the V6 Rav4 Sport with the Sport app Pkg missing the UGLY wort of a spare tire hanging off the back door. I would have passed if it had the spare on the door. Anyway, I ended up getting 3k off sticker price and must say it was worth it. My first car is an Audi A4Q and I had no idea how cheap the poor plastic everything Toyota builds car out of was, my Audi is light years ahead in build quality and dash layout. If you drive easy the 4wd V6 Rav4 gets decent MPG's, I always get 20 in the city and 26 to 29 Hwy. If your heavy on the gas you'll pay.

My wife and I test drove several cars, SUV's, and Crossovers before settling in on the RAV4. We found it easy for both of us to get in and out. I am 5'11" and my wife is 5'3", yet we can both slide in and out with ease (don't have to grab handles or anything). In the past my wife has been more comfortable driving smaller cars. However, with the RAV4 we both found the visibility exceptional, as well as being very easy to turn and park. We love the cargo room and the easy-to- open rear door. Since this is a vehicle that both of us drive it had to satisfy both of our needs, and it does.

My wife has owned her rav 4 since 1998. Honestly water pump and timing only repairs. Those items are minor compared to other car if you know what I mean. I bought the 2010 rav4 4x4 for myself. They handle through any snow and comfort is a 10. Not only that they are roomy inside and the suv handles great on the road. If you want a vechicle that is going to last a long time then look no futher. Toyota workers have built you a high quality running machine with many years of service and safety to you and your family. I have been a long time customer of Toyota and a lot of people won't buy foriegn cars but stop and think for a moment - these cars are built by American workers with families too.

I had this beauty for about a month, but I can not stop loving it. It is a very well designed compact, yet roomy, SUV. The vehicle handles extremely well with small turning radius, and the ride is quite smooth for its size. Instrument panel was well lay out with all the buttons/switches located right at your finger tips. Cargo rooms are plenty. The Bluetooth feature is really nice since more and more states are restricting driving and holding cell phone to your ears at the same time. Upgraded tires, and the roof rail make the vehicle more muscular and nicer looking. Test drive one, and you will fall in love with it.

I have to admit, the V6 is a powerhouse. I opted for the 6 over the 4 and will sacrifice 2 miles per gallon any day. Outside of the truck is a beauty, I didn't like the wheel in the back on the standard model and went right to the Sport edition. The ride is a little hard, but it's ok with me. I am usually a Honda guy, but the truck was too good to pass up. The stereo is pretty good, though I will add a sub woofer. Overall, this was a great purchase and can not wait for snow for the 4 x 4! Trust me folks, it's a winner!

This is our 3rd Toyota and I hope this is half as good as our other ones! (2000 4Runner and 2000 Camry). So far we have had the Rav4 about 2 weeks now and it hasn't disappointed us in any way! The V6 is like a rocket. Just a little gas and you are gone! For such a peppy V6 the gas mileage is surprising good. The ride is comfortable and car like. This is my wife's vehicle and she loves to drive it! She didn't want anything too big to drive but she also wanted a large cargo area. The Rav4 nailed it. I hope others enjoy their Rav4 as much as we are enjoying ours so far. Great job Toyota. You did it AGAIN!

This is my second Toyota Rav4 (and my 5th Toyota), but my first Sport model. The Sport model has eliminated the spare tire from the rear door, making it much more attractive. I've been a Honda driver for 20+ years, but this time around, the RAV4 V6 won out, hands down, over the CRV. This vehicle is in an entirely different league. Like the CRV, it's reliable and fuel- efficient--but unlike the Honda, it offers more interior room and a much more powerful engine. Tow capacity is 3500 pounds; rear seats fold flat to create a box-like pickup truck-style space. Acceleration is crisp and smooth; braking is grippy, confident. Seats are comfortable; cabin is spacious; sight lines are clear and unobstructed; stereo kicks. 24 mpg in town; no highway numbers to report yet. Of course, if all you want to do is haul groceries, go with the CRV.

Whoever writes all the positive reviews on the Toyota Rav4 Sport definitely did not drive a Chevy Tahoe prior to downsizing, which was a big mistake. For us, it's hard to find the good that outweighs the bad. Hopefully, the Rav4 will have a decent trade-in value as we hope to rid ourselves of it soon. We read tons of information regarding this car. We have not found the economy, comfort, pep, or anything else. Our average mpg is 24, far from the 28. The ride is rough, and the passenger seat and seating area is the most uncomfortable ever! Even the steering wheel is misplaced causing uncomfortable driving if going any distance. Also, very poor stereo sound system and very loud road noise.

When I began looking for a new vehicle, I knew I wanted a small SUV. After researching, I put the RAV4 towards the bottom of my list because I wasn't a fan of the spare tire on the back. Once I test drove it, it went straight to the top of my list. I love all the storage room and how easy the back seats fold down flat. After a month, I still love the ride. I don't do a whole lot of driving but so far the gas mileage is what I expected. The tire on the back doesn't even bother me and I figure that if I'm by myself and get a flat, it'll be easier getting the tire off the back than trying to dig it out from under the car.

We've had our 2010 Rav4 Sport for a week now. We did plenty of research on comparable SUVs, but this one beats the competitors. Toyota reliability and resale value. Top safety scores. Great gas mileage. Amazing leg room in second row due to sliding bench. Great storage, with under floor bin in cargo area. Then you add the V-6 and this turns into the sports car of SUVs. CRV doesn't come close!
