I have had the last few 4runners now, the Limited 1997, then the amazing 2007 V8 Limited. I love the cars, performance and Toyota quality. I really didnt want to trade in my 2007 but I hit 100K so figured I would check them out, not too crazy about the new style but it is okay and thought the new higher HP V6 might be okay at 270HP, however it is NOT, it is WAY underpowered for this size vehicle. It also doesn't have the same solid feel that my previous 4runners always had that other's never had. Makes me wonder if they really changed some things here....engine just doesnt feel right.....way to slow, with the Tundra 5.7 v8 as an option this might be a great truck

My 2010 4runner currently has 39k and has been flawless to me.. i bought it with 26k to avoid the high new car price and couldn't be more satisfied with it. It'll tow anything that I'll ever need to tow and carries everything i could want. The only thing I've had it in the dealer for was the TSB on the headlight replacement for when they haze up. I didn't need it done but figured I'd do it before i was out of warranty. all these things need are oil changes and routine maintenance and they should go forever! I love the new interior on the 5th generations! Bluetooth, backup cam, nice easy to use Navi all looks good on the black interior! can't forget the famous roll down back window!!!

I owned a 1997 Toyota 4runner for 13 years with only one major repair in $160,000 miles. It never once stranded me. Someone hit me and totaled it. I bought a new 2010 Toyota 4runner. In the last six months it has stranded me twice and I have had 4 major repairs. The throttle body was first, then the brake switch. Next was the blue tooth system and last night the entire windshield cracked in half (stress fracture, not a rock). I just can't trust this car. It is a lemon and Toyota doesn't care. It is also very hard to see out of the back windows. The body is wider than it needs to be. My mileage is 20 mpg, which is fine. Comfort is good for sitting on the side of the road waiting.

Have 5100 miles and so far and is exceeding my expectations on MPG and comfort. Just got back from a 1200 mile trip and the reclining back seats were a big hit! The lack of freeway noise and great ride and seats make it an excellent long distance cruiser. Easy to avg 20 MPG overall. In daily 25 mile highwy/city commute I typically get 20.5 MPG with some stop and go driving which is amazing. Exceeding 75 mph gets the MPG to drop slightly below 20 mpg. Also nice to use only regular gas as compared to mid-grade or premium in my Tacoma and Lexus.

Reliable..so far no major issues Comfort - little Performance - well underpowered but gets from point A to B Styling - beautiy is in the eye of the beholder..its ok for me Build quality - tinny construction, lotsa squeaks Fun to drive - Toyota? no, just FUNctional to drive Overall value - ok to me since it seems to be accomplishing the objective i set out to achieve - reliability

I have just traded in my SR5, owning it since Oct. '10. From the get go had slipping trans from 1st to 2nd gears...tinny doors, poor quality seats, spongy brakes, noisy, growly engine... this is not the 4 Runner of the past generations....I'd pass on this one.

had six 4 runners over a 25 year period. so obviously have been happy with them, PREVIOUSLY. have had the '10 limited for five months now and so disapointed with it, i sold it new years weekend. gas mileage 17mpg, pickup/acceleration is terrible. so underpowered. dont believe the HP is adequate for the mass of the vehicle. need to downshift constantly in order to get up the slightest incline. apprehensive to enter a highway. wouldnt try passing a scooter. if your looking to only drive it to the local green market then ok. otherwise look at anything else.

I had a 2005 sport it had a lot more power, than the 2010 sr5 and it had better gas mileage than the 2010, I though it would have more power, and a little better gas mileage. I like the 4 runner over all, esp. The power rear window., I don; t like the way I have to adjust the steering wheel, that set up has to be in the Stone age, very cumbersome and inconvenient and probably the cheapest way to do it.

After driving 8 months and 12k miles I still feel this is a very comfortable and reliable truck. Good for off roading as well as daily commute. Averaging 19.5 M.P.G in mixed driving which is excellent for a 6 thousand pound vehicle having a 4.0 L V6(278 ft-lb torque). The silver color really shines. Seats high up and has a commanding view of the surrounding. Coming from a German sedan i feel like this is a must have for people who have bad roads in your town. My BMW had stiff ride, but now I never complain about those roads.

Cons: paint quality, no frills interior(not an big issue at the price, sensibility to crosswinds. All in all a great buy, nanny your gas and it will truly reward you.

This is the 2nd 4-runner I have purchased & while there is a lot to like about the new one. Reliability is the number one reason to buy this vehicle. The brakes are much more grabby. The 270 hp engine is not as powerful as my 07. The ride is harsher than my 07 because of the Dunlap tires on the new one, I believe. The 07 had Michelin that lasted 90,000 miles & thats what I will switch to when these wear out. The 07 had auto assist tailgate; the new one is manual & a bigger heavier door.

I have driven my 2010 4Runner 1100 miles and I am very happy. I have finally given up driving my '83 Landcruiser and this is the perfect replacement. It is almost identical to the '83 FJ60 in interior room and design. I feel like Toyota has reached back in time and found the perfect replacement for the old Landcruiser. The previous 4Runner appeared too wimpy (styling) and the FJ did not offer the visibility associated with the original Landcruisers. I'm happy the truck does not have mud collectors (running boards). I am also retiring my Scion TC and I have become a one car household. The 4Runner is a pig compared to the scion but, that is to be expected. Overall, very happy.

Had a 2003 4Runner Limited V8 that I totaled in June '10. Wasn't really interested in another 4Runner at first. 4th Gen was too cramped on the interior, always felt too narrow in the driver's seat, but it was admittedly a GREAT truck. Had my mind changed because: 1) NO injuries in the wreck to me or my daughter; and 2) It was 7 years old with 115k miles, and I got 60% of my original purchase price from insurance when it was totaled. New 4Runner, here I come! The Trail is AWESOME. Feels bigger in the interior. Styling is much more masculine than the 4th Gen. Figured out how to turn off economy mode, and throttle response/shift pattern is MUCH better.

Love it!

We had two (basically) two passenger vehicles (a Wrangler and a Mini). Granted, they could carry 4 people in a pinch, but not for any long period of time. We opted to sell the Wrangler. We wanted a 4WD SUV. We couldn't find anything we liked made in the USA, so we broadened our search. The reviews on the 4runner tended to be good so we went and test drove one, and decided to buy one. the dealer didn't have what we wanted in stock, but they looked around and found one that had about the options we wanted, so we agreed to buy it. We picked it up about a week to 10 days later and really love it.

Nice sized 4-wheeler with Toyota reliability. Excellent turning radius with good steering feel. Would be nice if the 5.7 v-8 from the Tundra was an option- could use a little more torque going up steep hills. Seems like the Bean Counters took over the final design of the latest 4-runner.

I traded my 08Pathfinder for this 4Runner. I purchased it back in January, and waited until almost 10000 miles before i gave a review. I personally like the exterior, and interior look. Engine is not as powerful as my 08 pathfinder, but I am getting 23 mpg on highway. you have to press the gas pedal hard to get a great acceleration when passing. The truck feels very comfortable, the ride is very smooth, and i enjoy driving it everyday. At first it was hard to get in the truck without running board, but I already got used to it.

Read all of the reviews and I question if we are driving the same vehicle. Am very happy with the performance. Did not buy a sports car but an SUV. The interior finish is great. All fits well, and the ergonomics are excellent. Have a hard time being comfortable in certain cars, but am very comfortable in this one. Outside finish is flawless. I like the design, but hey, some don't guess we won't all be riding 4 runners. Will comment of fuel economy at a later date, but am happy to this point. Hood does not rattle at high speeds, doors are not flimsy, horn sounds ok it alerts people what more do you want. My wife had not seen the vehicle before purchase, her reaction was "awesome."

Just got back from a month in the Colorado Rockies. Had the vehicle over 13,000 ft and it was still looking for trees to climb. Best 4WD I've ever had. Great size to get through narrow, one way passes. Short wheel base & turning radius make switch backs a breeze. One of the smoothest riding vehicles I've ever had on the highway.

The annoying ding ding seat belt noise, can & was 90% silenced by legit dealer reprogram. Yeah! Also pop out back door recessed handles and insert about 4 lbs of those soft and quiet ankle weights. Door still opens ok yet closes so much easier. Yeah again. Vehicle travels great. 6 cyl enough power 95% of time. One touch seat reset would be nice. Trailer light hook up unbelievably out of position. Buy 18 in extension at wmt. Pulls my 1500 lb boat silky smooth

This is a very cool SUV. It provides comfort, style, safety and, more importantly, reliability. It's new exterior design is unique but still retains the rugged look that is specific to 4Runners all over the world. The interior has great features that many other manufacturers need to take note of. We upgraded to leather, and glad we did. Cloth interior with a 3 year old spilling and dropping stuff all the time is just not smart. The engine is powerful, and will get you out into traffic safely, but wont throw you in the back seat. It's an SUV. Gas milage is impressive but with fuel prices these days i'm even happier with how it does on fuel. It's worth the extra $$!

I initially planned on purchasing a 2009 4runner, but when I saw the redesigned fifth generation, I was hooked. My father and brother both owned third generation models which performed admirably (my brother's is over 200,000 miles now and has not had any major issued). The most noticeable improvement for me is the 2010's enhanced ride and pure drivability. I felt very confident driving aggressively through Houston traffic on my way back to Louisiana after purchasing the vehicle. Smooth power, precise handling, and a rugged, attractive exterior; a class-act all around.

I like this 4Runner, overall. Looks sharp and excellent build quality. Coming from a torquey sport sedan, a more powerful engine is something to be desired. I know it's not a sports car and it's going to take some getting used to. Hopefully it will perform better after the break-in period. It does need better lower end torque. The 4x4 feels heavier than the 4x2. Nice interior and good sounding stereo. The wire antenna has to go; Toyota is moving backwards on this one.

Not as good as past models.

This is my third 4Runner 1996, 2004 and 2010. I think that as time goes by Toyota is not living up to the quality that I am used too. By far the 1996 was the best vehicle. I do not like the doors unlocking on the 2010 as soon as the car is in park. I drive by myself long distance and I hate the fact that the doors automatically open. Also not happy about the running boards. I am 5'2" for crying out loud it is a challenge to get into the vehicle. I won't put anything on the truck unless it is a certified Toyota part. Interior has its problems the head rest doesn't lock into place and that becomes annoying. Oh yeah one more thing the horn on the 2010 is like a horn that belongs on Tercel.

I searched a long time for a vehicle that was right for me. I didn't like most SUVs because they either had poor gas mileage or were too small. I looked at CUVs which seemed more like a minivan alternative than a utility vehicle and not really made to go off road. The 4Runner offers good mileage (I'm getting 20 mpg combined), comfort, technology - voice command, BT, Satellite radio, rear camera, USB, Nav, etc. - so it works well for my daily driving AND is built to tow, haul, go off road - so great for getaways with the family and friends.

Do you know what you get when you cross the FJ Cruiser and the 4th generation 4Runner? The 5th generation 4Runner. I affectionately call it the "bastard child" regarding its new look. A combination of each. I understand Toyota is discontinuing the FJ and I believe they intentionally designed the new 4Runner to reflect both looks to appeal to both buyers. I just traded my 2004 Sport V8 AWD for this new guy and yes it has a few shortcomings in comparison but I hope I love it in the long run as I have my 04.

After driving Ford explorers for over 10 years, I purchased the 4runner 3 months ago. Likes: -dealer experience -build quality (except doors tinny when shut hard) -big buttons -gas mileage really 17 city/ 23 freeway -practical, not luxurious -rides well on rough dirt roads, as well as smooth pavement -quiet cabin -quiet engine (like a sewing machine) -satellite radio, usb port, -not a minivan -power rear window (excellent ventilation when combined with sunroof) -rear seats fold down flat dislikes: -way too high off the ground and no running boards -orange dials very difficult to read in bright sunlight -too much hard plastic -needs optional cargo cover

We just picked up our new 4Runner - I have to say - after seeing the new Explorer today I am so happy with the decision to buy the 4Runner - this is a real 4X4 SUV and includes everything we could want in a truck. We opted for the 3rd row with leather and convenience package. The fit is perfect, the interior is perfect and the drive is what I would expect from a 4X4. I can't wait to put the truck to the test and I will be sure to post an update at 10,000 miles. In my opinion (after owning an Explorer, Mountaineer, Tahoe, Equinox and Jeep) this is the best deal out there. Nice work Toyota!

I bought a 4runner and I'm disappointed. The seats are very hard and cramped, you feel every bump in the road and the braking is abrupt. Way stiffer of a ride and i would recommend the Pathfinder any day. Also the 3rd row seat is useless, there is virtually no leg room at all.

In a world of pregnant looking station wagons parading around as SUVs this is a refreshing change. Sound system and navigation system work beyond my expectations.

The design is aggressive looking especially in black with the 20 inch wheels. The interior is laid out well. Road visibility is great due to the vehicle's height and the ride while truck like is firm and not sloppy. Love the Nav system and the remote start.

Handling is outstanding in the Limited which I attribute to the x- reas suspension. Brake modulation is also excellent.

Looked at the MDX, RX350, FX35, Q5, Pathfinder and the 4Runner was the best all-around package. Initial target was another Lexus crossover but stumbled upon this body on frame SUV that drives just as smooth on new roads (no exaggeration) but you remember that you are in a real SUV on bumpy areas (though very impressed that it doesn't bounce like the SR5 — Limited comes with XREAS). For the price and options this was hands down the winner and also the coolest vehicle in the group. The 4Runner is not perfect but hits a sweet spot.

Love the styling and going with the full leather package was a wonderful upgrade for me. I have found nothing lacking in comfort and styling in this model. I was very disappointed that running boards were not standard as they were in previous 4 Runners, had to have my dealer retrofit them as I was having difficulty getting in and it was expensive. Also all weather floor mats should have been available! Preferred the tailgate assist too. Don't think it has as much pick up as my 04 until you hit the passing gear!! Overall satisfied with purchase!

This is the 5th Toyota my wife and I have owned. We were looking for an SUV after owning a Solara convertible and we could not be happier with the 4Runner. Its comfortable, a blast to drive and fairly easy to maneuver. The exterior is awesome and the interior is greatly laid out and easy to use controls. The MPG has been between 19-22.

In my lifetime I've owned over 13 vehicles (from Mercury, Ford, GM to VW, Honda, and Subaru), and this is by far the best vehicle I've ever owned. We just hit the 8k mile mark and I enjoy being behind the wheel at all times. Highway driving is fun and off- roading/driving in snow is awesome as well. There's plenty of space for the family (two kids) and ample cargo space for vacations.

After reading so many reviews (good and bad) let me get you some core basics of this vehicle. It is comfy, power is good, good mpg for the size, and good reliability. If you are looking for a city slicker show off car than better go with a X5. But this is for real heavy duty off roading without the sacrifice of the comfort of city/highway driving. It the best of both worlds.

This is my 3rd 4RUNNER. I have had the 2003, 2007, and now the 2010 Limited 4RUNNER. I am very satisfied with this one other than the fact that the basics I just knew would be standard are not even available as options. This is the highest 4Runner I've owned, and it has no running boards, go figure, also no wind deflectors available. Love the adjustable, reclining backs, AWESOME! Also very pleased with all the other perks. I'm a Toyota Fan for LIFE!

Picked up my 4runner last week and absolutely love it. I owned a 99 4runner and always regretted getting rid of it. I've owned many SUVs but nothing has compared to the 4runner. If you are tired of all the new "crossovers" (reworked minivans) and want a true SUV then the 4runner is for you. The new exterior is classic and the interior is highly functional and looks great in leather.

So far, so good!

Traded in our '08 Highlander Limited, needed something over 6001 lbs for business tax advantage, very impressed with new model, drives very similar to the HL, but definitely a truck vs HL's car-like drive. We actually prefer to be up a little higher, but it does lumber around like a truck, no worries for us tho. Just as roomy, third row seems smallish, but ends up almost exactly same size and functionality as the HL's. 2nd row has plenty of room, fit and finish are excellent - thx Toyota! Gas mileage as expected - this is not a Corolla folks, don't get a heavy V6 truck and think you can coax 30 mpg out of it, considering what the 4Runner can do, 19-23 mpg is fantastic! no complaints

I previously had a 2004 4Runner but wrecked it. Loved it! Went 109,000 miles with only normal maintenance. Never changed a light bulb! Have had the 2010 for about a month. It is very similar to the 2004 with a few minor changes. It is larger which I like. Miss a couple things about the old one compared to the new one.

I had 2008 Limited V8,4WD sold and bought 2010 Trail with all the options. First, the seats are like bench seats of churches, so hard. Only a few minutes ride, even my friends complained how hard and uncomfortable they were. I bought many cushions to relieve the hardness, but no solutions. I tried to voice out this problem both to dealership and Toyota HQ. After 3 months, customer service of Toyota wrote to me that could not do anything and sorry for dissatisfaction in advance. No wonder Toyota is losing faithful customers like us. We bought 5 Toyotas including Lexus LX470, all new. I will not buy another Toyota ever again. The new V6 is no match for previous V8, with no MPG advantage.

Have 5k trouble free miles. As high as 24 mpg on hwy. Tows a 14 ft enclosed trailer ok. Traded a Acura mdx for this so I could tow. Not as plush but 10 grand less. Also had a gx 470 but couldn't stomach the extra 16 grand. Overall it is a decent ride, not like the high ends but for the money it is good. Toyota did go a little cheap on this one. Metal is too thin, plastic scratches too easy, no memory seats. Its obvious they skimped.

I recently got a 4Runner Limited but I had the opportunity to review the SR5 in detail as well. The 4Runner is a great SUV, reliable, efficient, safe, and powerful but on the 2010 I was disappointed to know that Toyota no longer puts the cross-bars in the roof, the mudguards are gone and there is no running boards anymore, not even for the Limited Edition. That is unacceptable. The dealer says that during the 2010 summer these accessories will be available but of course you will have to pay $$ for them. Isn't that ridiculous?

Purchased my 2010 SR5 two months ago. Love the color gray. Averaging 19.5 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. Love the ride--smoother than many cars and most SUVs. I purchased the 2010 model after driving a 1999 SR5 for the last 11 years. Gas mileage is o.k. but I was hoping for a little better (low 20's would have been nice). I like the fuel economy meter and interior gauges and controls. Quality is great so far. I like the masculine looks, inside and out. Here are the minor flaws: no running boards, radio illumination gets washed out (too dim) when the headlights are turned on, rear wiper could be better (why doesn't it swipe the entire back window?). Overall, a great vehicle. No regrets.

Well, all fixed. Great interior, controls and quality and now headroom. The engine makes good power, very quiet, hands free phone system works very well and the interior is cozy without being cramped. I couldn't be happier.

I had a 2006 Limited that I loved, but I was hit and it was totaled. I purchased the 2010 SR5 last Dec. I'm tough on my trucks as I have dogs and do SAR work in Nor Cal. The 2010 immediately started having little problems; vent piece broken, rubber door seals pulling off, radio flickering, etc. Not the quality I've come to expect. But biggest problem has been the tow hitch wiring receiver. If you plan on towing, good luck! The wiring plug is underneath the vehicle way to the left side. No way is this going to work. Total design flaw. I've been to dealer and they are telling me there's no fix. I'm on my own. NOT GOOD!

Mine came equipped with leather, running boards, spoiler and 3rd row seating. This vehicle sits up higher and has more interior room than the 05 models. The 3rd row seating comes in handy and folds away flat and neat. Looking forward to my first real road trip in the 4Runner.

This car should definitely revive Toyota's declining reputation for sure. I have never owned a better vehicle. It works simple marvels off road, but its still more then comfortable in the city. It blows my wife's g-class out the water. More comfortable both on the beaten path and off-road. I got it lifted, added a bullbar, kc lights, rear Bush guards, and a snorkel, but it still handles like my previous 3 series. The real shocker is though how good it does water fording. I was driving through a lake once that my-off road club goes in often but I ran into a deep spot that we didnt know about. It completely submerged, with just the snorkel sticking out. It was stuck for over 3 seconds but still drove out!

This truck replaced my '04 Highlander Ltd. I was afraid of the gas mileage, but it's almost a tie (19 mpg avg.) The cabin is very well appointed. The seats are very comfortable. Fit and finish are impeccable. My 4Runner LTD Edition is not wallowing excessively at all, as some reviews indicate. While the ride is not as carlike as crossover's, the good ol’ feel of the body on frame is worth the compromise. On the positive side, it glides over New England's potholes with aplomb without any sign or sound of the suspension destruction. I hope that this truck will be safe, much more durable than my previous, and last longer with little maintenance."

I bought a 2010 4 cyl. 4runner in March. I had a 2005 Toyota Highlander and planned to purchase another one but came across this model on the dealers lot. I bought it because it delivers good gas mileage, has 8 air-bags, neat appointments in interior. Has better outward visibility than the hl, sits 1" higher, and has enough power in the 4 cly. For my use. I am towing a 2000 lb. Pop-top camper and have no interest in going off road. The storage space is adequate, seats fold down flat, dashboard temp., compass, mileage ratings, etc. Are an added plus. After just 1300 miles I am ave. 20.5 mpg. It has sonar for backing up, fog lights, etc. A very good BASIC vehicle for $28,500.

So far I am not impressed by my new 4Runner in the least. I was so excited to get this truck, as I have had a 4Runner in the past (2004). Now I am regretting my decision. I am taking it back to the dealer for the third time in two weeks. Rattle in the overhead compartment is driving me nuts. My brakes are hard to press and have a metal releasing/vibration feeling to them. Very unnerving. Each time I reach 40mph the engine starts to sputter and miss. Trying to merge onto the highway is a mess. The first time I was told this is "normal for a 4Runner". Then told it was the ECO and to turn it off. No dice. Not at all Toyota "quality".

I drove my 2002 4Runner into the ground and bought a 2010 4WD. After a few thousand winter miles in the Rockies I got a better ride and better gas mileage than the '02. XM radio and MP3 input are nice. But there are minuses. The rear window gets dirty fast. The overhanging "spoiler" creates a vacuum in the rear that sucks dirt off the road (the '02 has a deflector that pushes clean air down over the window). The rear wiper covers only half the window and you can't clean the window near the spoiler with a gas station squeegee. The interior is wider, more passenger leg room in back. But center console is a big bucket where crap gets lost. Kept the '02.

I switched from a Ford Explorer to 4Runner and I must admit I love my new toy. It's comfy, looks nice, sits high off the ground has awesome options and the leather heated seats in a 4Runner…I mean tough and comfy… I love it! Initially I wanted to go with a black exterior and cloth 3 row interior, but after some more thought, I decided to do the dark gray (magnetic gray metallic) exterior and black leather interior with light gray paneling. It looks very sharp… I am glad I chose the combination over my initial one.

Not too impressed with the sliding rear cargo tray. Takes up space.

Doors close very tinny - hood very flimsy at highway speeds - very underpowered with V6 - constant shifting with cruise - transmission whinny at low speed. Does not compare to my 2003. Gas mileage is no better than my 2003 V8. Toyota seriously cut corners on this machine. Not recommended -- mine is for sale.

We purchased our 2010 Limited 4-runner 3 weeks ago an so far we are very pleased with the decision. We had previously owned an 04 4 runner which we also liked a lot except that it was a little difficult to control in heavy cross winds. The new 2010 4-runner does not have this problem and seems very stable with any cross-wind. Ride is much smoother than previous generation 4-runner and so far our fuel economy is 18.5 mostly city driving. Wish Toyota had put running boards on as standard. We will have to purchase instead but haven't decided where yet. Overall , very pleased with fit and finish, ride and comfort. Telephone interface/Bluetooth is excellent and the Nav unit is also very good.

I was looking for a body-on-frame SUV with excellent reliability and good mileage. So far, so good! The ride quality is great for a truck and road/wind noise is low. I find the driver comfort high, but suspect that it could be a challenge for those over 6'2". Vehicle handling is very good for a tall, truck-based platform. Worst feature - the iPod control is a joke. Scrolling through songs/artists is done in chunks, each set taking about 2 seconds! Further, it goes back to the "A" position after you start a song. I quickly abandoned that route and use the iPod through the AUX input. The Toyota software developers should be ashamed of themselves.

I am getting 18 mpg on mixed driving which is good for a vehicle of its size and class. I live in NY metro area and was always scared of driving over huge bumps and potholes. Now with this truck I embrace them with smile. After driving a high end German sedan I would have to say, if you wan a reliable transportation stick with TOYOTA. I have had my 4 Runner for 1 month and I must say that Toyota has not impressed me so far. I have a growling noise under the hood and it is really a pain for a SUV with only 2400 miles on it. I also have to agree with other reviews that the sheet metal seems very light. It feels like a $ 6000.00 car (not $36000.00) when you shut the doors, very cheap feeling. I have really outdone the Gas mileage around town averaging 19 plus miles but the Highway mileage is at best 21-23. The services guys say that the computer is learning my driving habits and it takes a while to really get the good mileage(sounds like BS to me). Also I traded in a 2005 Pathfinder and so far the Service at Toyota STINKS.

I had a '07 4R and traded for the 2010 4R. The new one is very nice, but it is so much larger and bulkier than the 07. The interior features are square and give a harsher, hard appearance. The locking gas door is gone. Why?? I had to buy a locking gas cap. It is a fine SUV, but if I knew what I know now, I would've kept my 07 4R.

We had a 2004 6 cyl 4WD SR5 which we were very pleased with-excellent performance and reliability. We decided to buy the new SR5 and have been driving it 4 weeks. First off, a review at this site describes it as "taller, wider, longer." It is not wider and longer enough to be noticeable-but believe me it is quite a bit taller. Don't buy this unless the woman/children in the family climb in so everyone is on board with the height-it is significantly higher than the previous model. The trade off is the improved off road clearance. The ride is great, acceleration satisfactory, perfect build quality. We started off with 18.5 mpg and our last tank was 21 mpg.

I had an FJ cruiser with an expired lease term so I traded it in for the 4Runner. It feels solid; the ride quality is definitely truck-like, which is exactly what I wanted. It feels solid all around. Great exterior styling. Inside styling, I was not too keen on but it is growing on me as I drive it more. Off road, this truck is amazing; it begs to be driven off the beaten path. I owned a 3rd. gen. 4Runner and then bailed out when the design became a little too elegant and suburban on the 4th generation. This one captures the truck heritage and the ruggedness of the 2nd and 3rd generation 4Runners. I am glad they stuck with the body-on- frame formula. Very happy so far.

I've driven older 4's and they felt more solid, this one drives solid, but doors shut tinny, would wait a year to buy, I'm guessing somethings will change, pull out back floor should be an option period, waste of space. Brakes go soft quick and transmission struggles to find a gear, engine and transmission don't seem as smooth as past 4's. Lots of bugs, one day rear defrost works next it doesn't, move side mirrors and rear defrost works again. Anti-lock brakes gave out and now no problems. To keep cost the same on new design Toyota definitely cut corners. Like I said "like It not Love It" for the price I should LOVE IT! Trailer Hitch too short for receiver cause of the full size spare.

Got the Trail model in mid January, actually came down to the 4Runner vs a Lexus RX...not your typical comparison. After trading in a 2002 Pathfinder, i figured i would stay with the "truck look". However, although the body look and style is really nice. It's a bit bigger than i thought, (or would have liked). At about 3000 miles now, I cannot even reach 17 mpg, doing about 50% highway,, thought it would be better. The BIGGER concern is today, after braking coming up to a red light, i had a sudden surge of acceleration. This was not imagined, it was VERY REAL. While i was braking, the car had a sudden surge of power. It did stop right away after that so i am going to contact Toyota.

I drove right at two hours to get my vehicle. I love my new vehicle. Vehicle handles great, great gas mileage for the size.

Much to my disappointment the new 4Runner falls short in many areas. One of the most glaring issues are the brakes. There is a 2-3 inch depression of the brake pedal before you feel they kick in and only with tremendous effort on the pedal. (It makes me wonder amid the recalls.) The rear end brakes make a 'pop' sound at times and dealer says it's normal:( The vehicle height is a problem, no running boards and instability when facing cross winds. Steering is vague when opposed by the same cross winds. No USB port but a mere MP3 plug for a vehicle of this expense. No running boards either and anyone under 5'11 with have a tough challenge getting in and out of the vehicle.

The 2010 is my second 4-Runner Ltd. I just gave my 2005 with 180,000 miles on it to to a brother. The 2005 is still solid and runs like new. The best auto I've ever owned. I have 4,000 miles on the new one.I am pleased with it overall, but the new engine appears to have little more power than the 2005.Quality of mfg materials is inferior to the 2005. They have improved it in many other areas though such as panel layout.

New model is refined and roomy. 4 litre engine puts out V-8 power with V- 6 econony. Excellent towing - ignore the new rating - this SUV will tow 7,000 pounds with ease. Very useful sliding cargo floor, and backup warning device is a welcome feature. Only gripe is the silver painted plastic interior trim parts that easily scratch and cannot be easily fixed. Flawless build quality - typical Toyota. This SUV is in a class by itself. It doesn't pretend to be a crossover - it is a REAL full framed rear-wheel drive heavy duty SUV. It is like having a 7/8 scale Tahoe with a big V6 motor.

Wanted something a bit smaller to replace the Land Cruiser, but with low range 4WD. 4-Runner is getting bigger, almost the size of the Sequoia, maybe too big. Happy to have the peppy 6-cyl engine, getting over 21 mpg. Off-road performance is solid, on-road tends to lean in the curves, with a trucklike suspension that could be firmer. Turning radius is great. Styling is trying too hard to look like a Hummer - come on, Toyota, your strong suit has always been simplicity and reliability. I almost didn't buy this one because the hood is so high you can't see the road obstacles. Stereo has way too much bass, maybe the higher end stereo is better.

We've had the truck for one week and have yet to take it off road, but we're anxious to do so. It is appealing to the eye, gets good mileage for a vehicle of its size (averaging 20 mpg combined open freeway in the a.m. and stop & go in the evening). Interior and exterior appointments are excellent and well constructed.

I must admit it is a great looking vehicle, and has that toyota feel of quality. I cant believe this 4X4 does not have mud flaps,no running boards,no cross members on roof rack,no limited slip rear end,no locking differential, and they eliminated the turn knob to engage the 4 wheel drive, you need to push a handle to engage the 4 wheel drive. My wife hates it,NOT WOMAN FRIENDLY!

So far the only issue is a little steering wheel wobble at 60 MPH. Possible wheel alignment issue. Everything else about the SR5 is fantastic. Love the fact that rear window rolls down and all other windows including the ones in back seat go all the way down. Great in snow and seat comfort is great. The little moon light that illuminates the front gearshift area is a great feature.Reclining rear seats and satellite radio, as well as blue tooth phone are some of my favorite features. In metallic gray the chrome really stands out. Third seat is preferred over the goofy roll out tray. Who ever came up with that feature should be shot. Overall very pleased with the purchase!

I took this truck through over 24 inches of snow and it handled it without even a slight struggle. Fuel economy is great and it has far more power than you would expect from a V6. All together a great buy if you are in the market for a SUV.

The exterior looks sharp, and the interior is roomy and comfortable. I've only had it a day, mind you, but it's really fun to drive. There's tons of cool features that I have to figure out with the NAV/Radio system. the keyless ignition system will take some getting used to, but it's really cool. I'm liking the all time 4WD, and once you lock in the 4H, it feels especially solid. You can tell it's very well built, and we feel very safe and secure driving this machine. The new body style has a modern look yet strong and masculine, a definite guys truck. The interior is superbly done, with has everything a discerning buying could possibly want. Looked at the Trail Edition on a Friday night and picked it up on Saturday. Driving to work has become fun again. Toyota has done a great job on this vehicle, from fit and finish to the great off road features. Truly a "one of a kind". The interior layout is easy and compact, coupled with several nice touches of current technology. I came from a loaded Maxda CX9 and the only thing I miss are the heated seats...but with the remote start it's a lot less of an issue. The exterior is brawny yet nimble and extremely stable. It has a true "body on frame" ride...which I missed so much! Unibody construction is nice, but that "truck" feel can't be duplicated.

Quality and fit and finish are above average. Fun to drive and overall view when driving good. Paint finish is excellent along with interior. New feature on this model is not having a dipstick for the automatic transmisson. Fluid is changed after 90000 miles. I tow a boat so I feel more comfortable with a body on frame setup. I fell in love with the 4 runner after the first drive. It is comfortable and has a great quiet ride. I got 21 mpg in mixed driving which I was pleasantly surprised. I traded in a 2002 Tahoe which was a great vehicle and I use to get 16.5 mpg under the same driving conditions. My only complaints are that you can't get some options on the SR5. I don't like leather seats, there cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but most of all in my opinion they are not nearly as comfortable as cloth. So I don't want to pay for something I don't like. I don't know why car companies don't offer their upper end models without leather!

I just bought a 2010 4runner Limited. Love the new body style. Fit and finish up to the usual Toyo standards. Headliner and carpet seem a little cheap for a vehicle of this price. Leather seats are impeccable. Nice ride and quiet. Brakes seem a little weird. The first 2 inches or so of pedal travel are a little spongy, then with a little more pressure, they grab. Will take a little getting used to. The limited has a back-up camera, but the display on the rear view mirror, while cool, would be aided nicely if they included the "beeper" which is only available on the SR5. If you order crossbars for the roof rack after-market, BEWARE..the end caps must be removed to install them and the caps are VERY fragile ..$56 apiece to replace if you break them.

I was expecting my wife to tell me not to do the trade in but once she saw the 4 Runner and took it for a test drive she was hooked. So far it's been a great SUV. My limited didn't come with the chrome tip but I found one at O'Reilly's for $30.00. Sure beats the $80 plus that Toyota wanted to charge. Not sure why it wasn't included with the Limited anyway.

I love that it is wider for more interior room. I have two kids car seats in the back & another person can easily fit between them. Really wanted the 3rd row. The ground clearance is nice for us who like to actually off road a bit. The NAVI & blue tooth work perfect with my iPhone. It took 30 seconds to get the phone connected to the system. Stereo sounds great. Seat warmers have come in handy too. I drove through 1' of untouched snow w/out ever thinking of locking down the 4W high. Driving up I-70 out of Denver was a dream with all power and the breaks have serious stopping power. I do have the Limited w/22" wheels so maybe the brakes are larger?

High ride height works well with both short and taller drivers. Overall Mileage around 20 with highway @ 22mpg. AM radio works well with mast antenna. I looked at: BMW, Lexus, and another ML350 but bought 4Runner. The build quality of the 2010 4Runner exceeds my expectation and is better than any previous automobile purchase. 4.0 V6 is all that is needed, it has good torque. We purchased the 2010 Limited without nav in Blizzard White Pearl the weekend before Thanksgiving and took it on a 2000 mile trip from Seattle to the California Sierras. The vehicle was extremely comfortable to drive. We averaged 20 mpg on the trip. We put down the seats and slept in the back overnight when the temperature outside was 31 degrees F - and were able to plug in our laptop while doing so. Took it light off roading on jeep trails in the Buttermilk Mountains where it handled very well. The low rear differential setting and high ground clearance got us over the rocks. The traction control keeps it very solid in all road conditions. We enjoy our commute where we get 18 mpg.

For years I've wanted a 4Runner and when they came out with the Trail Edition, I finally bought one. Standard rear locking diff, Multi-terrain 4wd select, multi-speed crawl control (like cruise control for 4wd). With the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension system handles like a car at high speeds. In terms of handling, features, and interior comfort there is no vehicle like this. Can't wait for March when I get to test all the 4wd features in southern Utah. Although I wasn't crazy about having to pay $2400 for the Nav system, the 15 JBL speaker system that comes with Nav is amazing.

Smooth and reasonably comfortable for a $40K SUV. Good ground clearance and capable with some minor off roading I did. Handles nicely too while suspension is quite compliant. Exterior design OK.

I was patiently waiting for my 4 runner for 2 months and finally it arrived in December. Loved everything about it even my baby boy calls it mommy's boom boom. Everything about it is awesome. Drives smoothly, handles turns well, and has a kick when you want power. Just couldn't wait for the TRAIL or limited models to come in so we got the SR5 instead.

Far exceeds expectations

Just bought a silver 2010 4runner 4x4 for my wife yesterday we traded in her 2002 4runner 2wd. Now this was a huge upgrade for us even though we only bought an SR5 not a limited but all the standard options have come a long way. The ride is very quiet and extremely smooth. Factory stereo sound amazing. All the hookups for ipod included USB. mirror defrosters with power seats are a very nice feel. We looked at lexus RX and It felt for 10k more we were just paying for the name and leather. Also the height to see over everyone and still with good turning and parking. Were extremely happy i know most people haven't gotten used to the exterior but me and my wife

Love our new 4Runner; bring on the snow!

The new 4Runner has a great rugged look. Seats and driving position are very comfortable. Handles very well for an SUV, especially tight turning radius. Rides so much better than older generations of this vehicle - very smooth on the highway and minimal wind noise. The V6 engine is very peppy and responsive - seems like fuel economy will be pretty good if we don't romp it too hard. We are looking forward to trying out the 4WD system in the Northeastern Ohio snows...

As a small business owners we get a tax break if you purchase a vehicle over 6,000lbs. The 4Runner was at the top of the list at 6,300. The big question...SR5 or Limited (8-10K diff.). Our dealer received the Blizzard White SR5 first (4x4). The day it arrived we drove it and instantly loved it. It had so many standard features that we didn't consider the Limited after this (~$34K vs ~$42K). We purchased the vehicle the next day and have not regretted our decision in the least bit. It is a dream to drive, very comfortable, and fun. We added a remote starter and mud flaps as dealer accessories.

The Bomb

Just purchased today and I am very impressed thus far. The black limited I purchased is refined and luxurious, I have yet to learn all of the gadgets. I had to get use to the bubble head lights and taillights but once I got past that I viewed the vehicle as a very refreshing change from the 2003 thru 2009. I owned a 2002 and liked that body style but the 2010 (Limited) is the Bomb!
