Bought my Subaru Legacy brand new and it's now 5 years old.The vehicle is fun to drive.Handles great and acceleration is good for a 4 cylinder. As of yet haven't had any squeaks or rattles to date and car feels solid/well built.I would consider another Subaru down the road. Negatives-As I have read on other reviews on this page, two main complaints.I to have had to replace low beam lights way to frequently and get excuses from the dealer. Also, the seats aren't comfortable as others have stated.Especially on longer trips.

In November 2014 our adult son left the house for his 20-minute commute to work in his 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited Sedan. It was clear, cool and dry that morning. According to an eyewitness, the car roared down the street at a speed of some 50 mph sounding like a garbage truck. In less than 400 feet and about six seconds, the Legacy veered over a neighbor’s curb, pivoted and hit a tree at 45 mph (per Police Department). We assume this was his attempt to slow and stop the runaway vehicle without killing or injuring anyone. Regrettably, our son died the following week as a direct result of this unintended acceleration incident.

I bought my 2010 Legacy new. In 4.5 years, I have had to replace 5 low-beam headlights. The dealership gave me multiple excuses that made no sense. The customer service rep at Subaru headquarters said she thought it was reasonable to replace a headlight every 22,000 miles, and would do nothing. At $70 per replacement, I cannot afford to keep this car. Very disappointed in Subaru's quality and customer service.

So THIS is why people buy imports..

I was originally looking for a 4x4/awd crossover SUV. The salesman had none around, but wanted to show me this Subaru, a brand I knew only a few (good) things about. The weather was really bad that day, with schools closed due to icy roads, but the Legacy killed it. No drama, and the heater was a champ. It feels like an extremely nice, intelligent vehicle, and the truly awesome MPG combined with the looks, comfort, and reknowned reliability sold me on it. I am so glad I tried it.

Except for the intolerable seats...I like my Subaru and everything else about this car. Economical, reliable, easy to see out of it. Good size trunk. Good in the snow and rough roads. Feels somewhat primitive and mechanical, but well connected. Good build quality. It makes me unhappy to report how uncomfortable this car is on longer trips. My wife and I can't wait to get to a rest stop...just to get out and stretch our backs and behinds. We have taken our Legacy cross country for a 5,000 mile trip...no problems with the car...big problems for us sitting in it. It is really unfortunate these seats feel so uncomfortable.

I have had my Legacy for two years now. Bought it new. When I take long drive I'm making 34 MPG. Right now with some city and mostly highway I'm getting about 29 MPG. It's a little less in the winter time with all the idling we do in the cold weather. Love the heated seats and heated side mirrors. I feel really safe on our icy roads in the winter. Would by another in a heart beat.

I purchased the car new and have over 40K miles on it. Great gas milage especially on the hwy going 70-80 mph. - Averages 34 mi/gal. The ride is smooth both in the city and hwy. Very peppy. I have the upgraded radio which is nice. No problems at all. The car is very light but I feel safe. Great handling - almost impossible to loose control. It's a great car I plan to put alot of miles on. Love the paddle shifters on the steering column - I downshift alot instead of using brakes. Lots of trunk space. I use full synthetic oil and change it every 10K miles. I recommend this for a commuter car and have 2 boys 9 & 5. Very good for my lifestyle and budget.

This car is perfect for a taller person who commutes in a snowy environment. This car gets good gas mileage (28mph at 75mpg on highway) considering it's AWD - which I like to have in Vermont. If you don't need the AWD you can do much better (toyota camry hybrid). Also, the handling is average. But for someone with my specific needs, this car is just perfect.

Traded in out 2008 Mazda 3 s Touring for the Subbie. Their CPO program allowed us to make a great deal on a "new " Car with 7400 miles on it. 6 yr, 2.99% financing, 6 year - 100k Powertrain Warranty (I have 2 years remaining on the origional new car warranty). Takes getting used to the CVT, but after a couple drives, it works very well. Drives like a Bigger car for sure, pretty well planted. Handling could be a little tighter. The Premium package should have include the 17" wheels and wider tires (I will be doing that soon). Very roomy interior, decent Cloth seating, only fair stock radio.

Happy :)

This car rides well and is very comfortable for everyone in my family to drive- from 6'0 230 to 5'6 120. I really like the Engine/Trans. combination and the mileage for a full size AWD car is amazing. The 6 cylinder has more boogie but doesn't get the CVT trans. so the MPG is not as good and of course it's more money up front. If you don't care much about mileage and have the coin go with the 6- it's trans. is silky smooth and the extra power is sweet. That being said, the 4cyl and CVT is loosening up and car is getting much faster. I don't mind sacrificing speed for mileage at $3.10 plus a gallon!

This is my first Subaru having had Hondas and Toyatas. I decided on this because of the AWD capability. Initially, the acceleration was painful given my experience with Honda and Toyota but after about 3K miles (I now have about 5K on it) it seems not to be a problem and Ok for the Chicago ways. I'm getting about 28-30 miles/gallon for a 30 miles drive to work which is about 1/2 traffic jam. The inside is spacious, blue tooth and home link work well but some of the inside seams seems to come off easily. People admired the outside design so much and they're shock to learn I didn't pay anywhere near Audi/Lexus/Accura/Nissan Maxima. I'm waiting to see how it fares in the Winter

I finally "get" the Subaru commercials..

Wow. After spending MONTHS test driving and flipping back and forth between the Honda Accord EX-L & Toyota Camry, I decided that I wasn't really in love with either of them and looked for something "more". I definitely found it in my Subaru GT. All the options... leather, sunroof, turbo, bluetooth, etc. plus Subaru safety & reliability. Tons of leg room in the front AND back, and interior quality is outstanding. The leather is better quality than our Acura! Trunk is large, but the opening is narrow... getting our stroller in & out can be tricky.

This is my first Subaru. I have already put 30,000 miles on it in 7 months. It actually surprised me with averaging 28-30 mpg on the highway. Negative is the service-burns about a quart and a half of oil every 4000 miles, dealer said it is normal to burn up to 1 quart per 1K miles. Book says you can change oil every 7000 miles, but you will be out of it. Free service for first 24,000 miles, but only according to book, so I had to pay for the extra oil changes. Service intervals actually are more expensive than the Acura I traded for it. Overall, I like it, but it is costing a lot more money to run than the dealer led me to think when I bought it. I probably won't buy another.

I went in initially looking to purchase a 2005 Legacy but felt to cramped. Saw the redesigned 2010 & took it for a drive. The space is great, front and rear (coming from a Honda Civic Coupe). Looks great from the front, so-so from the rear. Smooth handling on most surfaces, but stimulus money can only make so many roads perfect. Acceleration is to be expected with a 4cyl AWD vehicle & passing ability is adequate. With 13,500 on the clock I've yet to have any of the pulling/shaking issues described in other reviews. I have experienced the shifting "clunk" sound a couple times, though it is always when parked on an incline. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase & would recommend it to anyone.

I bought my first Subaru because I wanted a reliable car, good gas mileage, and all wheel drive. I don't really know how reliable it is because I've only had it a year. I got all that with this car except for a clunking noise thats coming from the brakes when you first start the car after its been sitting a while. I step on the brakes and it sounds like the calipers are stiff when they squeeze the brake pads.

As the title states, I feel this is one of the best family cars available for folks that have to deal with snow. I look at most other cars in this class and my decision came down to the VW Passat and the Subaru. The Subaru's interior space, quiet ride and predicted reliability won-out. It has been almost a year and 10,000 miles and I am still happy with my decision. Fuel mileage has been great - 25 city and 30+ highway. The car has enough power and I would even say the engine sounds good. The car does require a lot of correction in a crosswind and stepping over the body skirts is annoying. The car is not sporty to drive. For example an Accord is much more nimble.

OK, so I decided that the 50K price point was the limit and I downsized after owning/leasing an A6 and M35.. No regrets (drove the 4cyl..get the 6). A few nits, like no storage net on the back of the driver seat and got the 2011 with the folding mirrors but so far so good- lots of pep in the 260 hp boxer. easily surpass' the 25 mpg level turnpike (dealer did not lie)- 16-18 local, good body features- folding back seats (not on A4 or G35), lumbar ( you need the electric seats the plain seats are not padded enough). Nav system took a few extra reads in the manual to master- if mileage is a worry you can almost get a 3.6L plus a prius to spare for same cost as A6

I previously owned 3 Nissan Maximas and 1 Nissan Altima since 1999. I liked all of these vehicles. I was in the market for another Altima but the style was the same since 1997. The Maximas were becoming too expensive, so I began shopping for a new brand. My brother put me on to the Legacy. I test drove one and loved it and still love it almost a year later. The 4 cyl. is adequately powered not in the range of the 6 cyl Nissans but it gets you where you want to go. The gas mileage is pretty good for an AWD. I find the car to be very comfortable and roomy. I have had many compliments on the styling. I have no problem saying that I like it as much as the Nissans that I owned.

I have put about 23,000 miles on this vehicle to date. Initially it seemed like a great car for the money. First and foremost, this is the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven. You will not realize this until you drive over 2 hours. I first thought it was me until I had others drive it and agree. I have since bought additional cushions which only slightly help the issue. Temp only adjusts hot or cold. They have replaced this unit multiple times and still not right. Automatic lights flicker on/off when going under an overpass in the middle of the day. Again could not fix! Clunky transmission that will not find a gear and act as if the car is in neutral. Scary in traffic!

I have never owned a Subaru and never thought much about them but I stumbled upon this model after re-reading an older preview in Car and Driver. I went for the test drive and loved the car. There was plenty of room for 3 kids in the back seat and the wife liked everything about the car also. Big trunk, lots of headroom (I'm 6'5"), and fun to drive. It's hard to find a manual transmission these days but this has it and rowing your own is my preference. The car is very quick and there is little noise except from the tires which I can live with (and get some quieter ones when these wear out). Can't go wrong with this car.

We just passed the 10,000 mile mark and I am very satisfied with the Legacy on all counts. Perhaps I'm getting used to the CVT, but the MPG just gets better and better. Drove from MD to Williamsburg, VA and clocked 33 MPG. Averaged 75-85 MPH highway with AC full blast. Would buy another - or perhaps the similar Outback.

I have now had the Legacy for 4 months and about 3000 miles. After $700 spent on 5 trips to an auto upholstery shop for modifications to the driver’s seat, the driver’s seat, while not comfortable, is now tolerable. The adjustable lumbar support works by pushing the foam padding, which is quite rigid, deeper into your back. It is not inflatable as I first thought. I had this seat back foam trimmed and had additional foam in the shape of a wedge and made from softer, less dense foam, added to the seat cushion. I can now drive the car for 2-3 hours without getting a back ache.

The Good: All Wheel Drive provides extra grip - Great gas mileage (average 27 mpg) - Large interior (good rear leg room) - Comfortable driving position - Nice styling interior & exterior - CVT provides less to no jerking - Smooth riding vehicle - Quiet (easy to carry on a conversation) - All Gauges conveniently located The Bad: Touchy “sport” steering at highway speeds - Wind pushes the vehicle around more than expected at highway speeds - A/C ducts blow in face (center ducts not flush but beside radio, no way to direct straight back) The Ugly … - A/C unit does not cool vehicle I have also had to return my Legacy back to the dealer 4-times for A/C problems.

Lots of interior space, back seat and trunk are great. New styling really grows on you. Have seen very few Legacys on the road especially GT Limiteds. Every other car is a Camry or Accord. Love the Turbo, car really goes for a 4 cyl.

Love this car! This is the finest AWD vehicle for the money you can purchase. While it does not have a lot of the bells and whistles of the higher priced competitors, check the price!.Honestly, I don't feel like I compromised anything in buying a less expensive car.The reality is that Subaru makes an awesome and reliable car with good performance and safety for a very reasonable price. This is my second Subaru and I will definitely buy another in the future. My wife drives a 2010 Acura TL and she always steals my keys. She likes the ride better and it gets awesome mileage with the CVT transmission, 27 MPG around town and 32 MPG on the highway. AWD at a reasonable price! Buy one!

I like my Subaru Legacy. I have previously owned a Toyota Camry and this vehicle drives similar. However, the dealership here in Little Rock (Not where I purchased the vehicle) has made it very difficult to get the car serviced. No shuttle service, hours 7:30 - 5:30 M-F. If I had to do it again, I would purchase another Camry because of the service department convenience. Might be a nice vehicle to own but not easy to maintain - especially with 2 recalls already.

My wife and I shopped all of the competition in this segment before we landed at the Subaru dealership. Our primary requirements were comfortable and durable interior, respectable gas mileage, roomy interior and excellent safety ratings. This new Legacy delivered these in spades and the price was very competitive given its feature set. We were initially impressed with the styling, which we feel stands out nicely, but really fell in love with the roomy interior, well thought out use of space, split third row and very nice trunk (with no goose neck hinges). Given the price ($22K out the door for our 2.5i "Premium" model), we felt it was best in class - even after driving the new Sonata.

Have had the car for one year now. Very pleased with build quality and overall design. Recently completed a 500 mile trip. Averaged 37.6 mpg! That was at 70 miles per hour with the air conditioning on. I believe Subaru offers the best combination of room, comfort, quality, and economy in the sedan class with the added benefit of all wheel drive.

Great ride, this is a driver's car. Love the 4 wheel drive system and the handling. Interior is very nice and the doors close like a Benz. Storage bin in the center console is really small for no reason (storage bin tapers smaller). Even though I have close to the top if the line model my satellite antenna is not on the roof but glued to the inside front glass (top passenger side). Give us a push start option on future models please.

You're always hoping for the knockout looking girl to have on your arm or, in this case, the best looking/performing/reliable car to own. The Legacy is not the worst or ugliest but far from thrilling. Maybe that's what the manufacturer had in mind? The car lacks panache. My 2.5 engine is underpowered. It's okay for most daily driving chores but not thrilling to drive. The CVT is fine, handling is better than average, seats are 'okay'. Everything about the car is 'okay' but uninspiring. Then again when one ponies up less than $25K for a new car, what can one expect except what the Legacy provides? I'm okay with the purchase but far from a raving fan who can't wait to re-buy.

This is my wife and my fourth Legacy. All have been exceptionally reliable and competent, but Subaru has hit the ball out of the park with the new car. Interior room on the 2010 is outstanding. No longer do you have to give up space to drive a Legacy. Also the CVT transmission is awesome on the highway. NO ONE makes an AWD car that will achieve the highway mileage like this Subaru. We were already sold on Subarus, this being our fifth, but in our first 6 weeks of ownership I can say we like this one best of all. All that remains to be seen is winter performance, but with all the Subaru AWD engineering under its belt, I doubt we'll have much to worry about when the white stuff starts.

After years of Honda loyalty I cannot believe this clunker is how I satisfy my Subaru dream. Like numerous other posts I too experience the road drift at highway speeds as well as the vibration. My headliner has been replaced as has my barely mediocre radio due to defects. Occasionally my "new" radio will not turn on at all. The car often "slams" into reverse, and constantly hesitates from a dead stop. Car nearly stalls whenever I brake hard, idle, or turn the AC up to max, which is still inadequate and insufficient to keep my baby girl cool in the back seat. Local dealer attributes the RPM drop to strain on the electric system.Really. Expensive maintenance reduces value.

I liked this car from the start, though I was looking for something more sporty. My interior needs centered around my family of four. The Legacy has plenty of room. Subarus are still iron clad reliable (we owned a '95 Impreza - and loved it). The east coast blizzards of 2010 put this baby to the test and she passed easily. I utilized the shift paddles throughout. In normal weather, I opt for the CVT and I can attest to the improved economy in this mode.

I have had my 2010 legacy now for 6 months, put just shy of 13k miles on it and I would have to say its been a great and very comfortable car to own. I do have a couple complaints however, i have had both front struts replaced under warranty due to leaking, and i feel that the cabin could be just a little quieter. If i could change one thing about the 2.5i, i would add another 15-20 hp, because it feels just slower than i would like. However, i average around 30 mpg mixed with my legacy, and i am completely thrilled with the mileage considering the size of the car, and it is one of the most comfortable and fun to drive vehicles I've ever owned. I highly rec this car, especially for the price

This is a solidly-built, nicely styled car. Great gas mileage--significantly better than posted on the window sticker. Quiet cabin. Comfortable seating. Storage is well laid out, and though the trunk is considered average in size, the space is very accessible. Five stars all around on safety. The 2.5 engine provides comfortable performance for everyday driving, but will not snap your neck from a standing start. Not a bad trade-off, though, when I get well over 30 mpg on a road trip.

I've had this car about a month now. I knew I wanted my next car to be a Legacy and I'm not disappointed. I do not have ANY of the problems others mentioned. My car runs wonderfully, is very comfortable, and everyone thinks it's eye catching. I think some others should have thought more about the car they wanted before buying. Not everyone likes the same things obviously. But, in my opinion, if you want a sharp car that's dependable and comfortable - this is your car!

I've owned the car since August and about 3000 miles later I hit a deer at highway speed. I am a female and was alone at the time. I've never hit an animal before let alone a deer. The crash ratings on the vehicle lived up to every expectation. The impact was the front end driver's side and fender. I couldn't open the drivers door and I thought the deer was out there dead, but alas he was gone. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle. I didn't hit anyone else and I did not get hurt. The vehicle crumpled as expected, the air bags did not go off as it did not hit all the sensors and the frame was not impacted. I have driven it 5500 miles since the accident and have had no issues.

Subaru outdid itself with the 2010 Legacy. This car has a very solid feel to it. The CVT is smooth and responsive. I like the feel and the sound it has when accelerating. Much nicer than a conventional automatic transmission. We live in the "snow belt" so the AWD is a huge plus. The interior is roomy and sharp looking. We got the moonroof and all weather package, both nice options. So far we are very pleased with this car. Anyone looking for a "family" sedan should test drive one. This is a lot of car for the money.

Car shakes over 60 mph, never felt anything like this in any car. So far disappointing they do not have a fix because they do not know the problem. This is BS, i thinks its the design and they dont want to spend the money to make their customers happy. Too bad without this problem it would be a better car than Honda or Toyota but ultimately it seems like Subaru has failed and will lose market share if they do not correct this problem

I love my new Subaru. This is my first Subaru, no disappointments! The 6- speed transmission and clutch took a little getting used to, however the excitement and power make it well worth getting to know. This car has a high rear seat so backing up also took some practice. I was in the market for a Lexus/Infinity AWD, my advise for anyone in the same market. You owe the newly redesigned Subaru Legacy just one test drive.

1. Excessively LOUD Engine Noise, especially when first starting; 2. SHIFTING Gears – HARD, JOLTING, CLUNKING, CLUCKING and CLICKING: A. When shifting from Park to Reverse, most of the time (90%) there will be QUITE a big JOLT accompanied by a loud CLUNKING sound from under the car, and sometimes also a CLUCKING sound from under the rear; B. When shifting to Neutral and Drive, there’s not much of a Jolt; C. In general, Shifting from P to R to N to D and vice versa is always NOT smooth and there will always (100%) be a CLICKING sound coming from right under the car (like a cable snapping noise.) Suggestion and comment are welcome.

Already had a 2008 Legacy 2.5i Ltd and was happy with it but felt it was too small. Evaluated the redesigned 2010 Legacy and found the redesign addressed virtually all of my concerns AND promised improved mileage. I accept some loss of mileage to AWD which is worth it for performance and safety in 4 season climates--and I have not been disappointed. 2010 CVT is great technology with significantly improved mileage but trade off is less oomph which bothers my wife more than me. Still feels fun to me. Appreciate the solid feel, smooth generally quiet ride. Seats very comfortable for me and very adjustable! Happy with build quality and head turning design.

This could have been a wonderful car. They had everything going for it except: It steers very poorly at interstate speeds. It tends to wander from side to side and never really has a tendency to just drive straight down the road. You have to constantly make small corrections in order to keep in your lane. And it is much worse in crosswinds. I have had it into the local dealer and of course they can find no fault with the car. It was out of alignment from the factory which they fixed. This is the first year Subaru has had drive by wire and they have not gotten it right. I have an 09 Forester which drives great, so I know they can make a good driving vehicle. Just not the 2010 Legacy.

I have had this car about a month and absolutely love it. The continuous transmission is incredibly smooth. Although the first time I drove it, it seemed odd to have a car accelerating, but not feel it go through the gears. With the 2.5i engine, you won't win any races on the track, but it's more than fast enough for urban driving. That said, I'm very happy with the gas mileage so far (27+ MPG in mixed driving).

Switched from reg oil to blend after 2nd oil change and notice just shy of 2mpg per gallon increase. Drives as solidly as my old "92 Buick GS did and has enough get up and go for me. I traded in a 2002 VW Passat manual, so the AWD CVT Subaru Limited is quite a change. Its mileage is equal to the Passat. It has a pleasing interior (black leather), and attractive ruby red exterior. The paddles are good for quick downshifting to a stop. The engine and CVT produce enough power to meet my needs. It can become noisy under acceleration. The ride is comfortable, but inconsistent, with some bumps surprisingly jarring. It is sensitive to wind shear. It's good about town, but a little tiring to drive on a highway trip - it seems subject to "drift", so one has to pay attention. The jury's still out on this Subaru. A longer test drive might have led to a different choice.

There is too much front-suspension tire road noise. The car is otherwise mostly quiet. The 3.6R engine vibrates noticeably at idle, smooths out in normal driving, then is harsh and noisy at high RPM. The auto transmission lacks a sixth gear. The center-section data display is too dim in bright daylight and the numbers are too small. Air conditioning is OK thus far, but noisy at high fan settings. The steering wheel should tilt down further, and telescope more. The radio is excellent but lacks the desirable speed-volume feature of the cheaper standard radio. The all wheel drive proved stable and safe on a very poor mountain road.

I’ve had my Legacy Premium 2.5 less than a week and am already ready to get rid of it. I’ve never had a backache in my entire life yet after a week of driving the car, about 270 miles, my back is so painful that I’m about crippled. I cringe at the thought of having to get back into this vehicle. My car has the adjustable lumbar support and even when it is completely deflated, after about 20 minutes it feels like somebody has their knees in my back. My advice to anyone considering a Legacy is to drive, or at least sit, in the car for a minimum of 30 minutes before you make your decision to buy this car. I didn’t and fear I have just made a $25,000 mistake.

I traded my 06 Lexus RX330 in on a new Subaru Legacy, and I am completely THRILLED with my purchase. I test drove Accord, Altimas, Passat, and there is absolutely no comparison on build quality, the fun factor of paddle and manual shifting, and the AWD really grabs the road. In the rain, you never feel like you are close to losing control. I drive long trips, and the car is soooo comfortable, and has all the features I was looking for and more than I was accustomed to. With regular gas, 34 MPG on the highway, I'm in LOVE with my car!

Coming from a family that has driven Mercedes Benz for 30+ years I was amazed at the level of refinement the Legacy has. I had looked at the Mazda 6, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Acura TSX, Lexus is 250, BMW 3 series, and Audi 4 series. Nothing strucka balance between performance, value and refinement like the Legacy. Hats of to Subaru for building such an amazing car. Everytime I drive the car I wonder how the hell Subaru makes any money selling this car for so cheap. I would have easily paid another 2000-3000 more without blinking an eye. This car fell short on HP for my heavy right foot but makes up for it with an ultra smooth CVT gear box.

Have put 3,000 miles on it in a little over a month and we are averaging almost 30 mpg, 5 mpg better than our HHR and it is a bigger car with AWD. Very comfortable and rides and handles great. I traded in my 2003 Subaru Baja for this car about one month ago and drove it about 950 miles. 35 to 37 mpg on the highway mileage amazes me. 18 mpg in the city is not much better than the '03 Baja's mileage. The new Legacy has more interior space and better seats than the old Baja. It also has more electronic controls and gadgets making it a little more difficult to operate. I like the ability to plug my iPod directly into the audio system. It also has fuel usage monitors not available on the '03 Baja. I hope the Legacy's reliability is as good as the 7 years of trouble free driving I had with the Baja.

I formerly drove a 2006 Acura TSX, but needed more interior room to meet the needs of a growing 9 yr-old son whose legs were always invading my driving space! Bought the 2.5i Premium/4cl. with CVT in the silver/black leather, and I love the added space and nice build quality Subaru put into this affordable sedan. After 3 months and 4K, only real negative seems to be excessive engine noise and general sluggishness at low speeds. Not sure if that is a trade off with the CVT, or expected. Dealer told me they hear this comment often. I do miss the more nimble handling of my TSX, but enjoy the Legacy's roominess. A solid value for an AWD family sedan, indeed!

This is an initial review at 104 miles of use. The car rides well, dealer prep was poor--the compass-mirror was not set to this region and tires were badly over-inflated. The dealer also failed to prevent this factory ordered car from being unnecessarily driven by dealership employees. Perhaps that is why it now has a slight piston slap in one cylinder. The manual explicitly states not to exceed 4000 RPM before 1000 miles. The H-K music system is excellent. The steering wheel tilt-telescope control is awkwardly positioned. Body gaps are larger than the car being replaced. The white paint appearance is excellent.

I've put 3800 miles on mine in 4 months, a fair amount of that on the highway, and I've been pretty impressed. We've had an above average year for snow and the AWD has performed as advertised. I considered BMW and Infinity before settling on the Legacy, I just could not justify that high price for a car. I felt the Subie offered excellent value for the price paid. My wife was concerned that due to my history with bigger, torqueier engines that I might feel this one was underpowered but experience has not borne that out. I chose the black exterior because I hadn't owned a black car in 25 years and think they look nice WHEN CLEAN.

I am not a small guy over 6'2 and the car has enough room for me to comfortably drive and have a standard adult sitting behind me. I live in New England and AWD is a must. For the features and price there is no car like it on the market. My only issue is that if I don't have the key on me I have to go to the front seat to open the trunk. The 2010 has a smooth yet in control feel along with good match between CVT and Boxer engine. The 2009 does not. For drive-ability the 2010 is great when cornering at > 40 mph. In the snow it beats hands down the Altima, Fusion, Accord and Camry.

Leased the Premium w/auto. Getting 18 mpg city and as much as 35 highway. Great handling car. Little loud and transmission a little jittery but I can live with that. Only 500 miles on car thus far. Comfortable seats, nice amenities. Would recommend based on my limited experience with this car thus far.

I've been driving my Legacy for about 2 1/2 months now and I love it. There is plenty of power and braking getting on and off of I-95. The sound system is quite nice and the range of seating options is fantastic, making for a comfortable ride no matter how I feel like sitting. Great usable trunk space, and terrific leather seating.

We traded in our B9 Tribeca for this car, due to the Tribeca's low mpg and need for premium gas. So far, I am not missing the SUV. This Legacy is nimble, fun to drive, and relatively quiet. I was totally surprised at the power and responsiveness of the engine. The CVT makes it feel like it has 25-30 more horses under the hood. I have driven previous generation Legacies with the base engine, and would not buy one because of the low power. This engine/tranny combo is great. The car is very stable, even when cornering at high speeds. We took it on a trip to the ocean recently and had a total blast on the curvey highway route we took. I would buy this car again without hesitation

Anxiously waited 3mos for this car & have close to 1K mi; it was worth the wait. Live in the NE region w/snow & it feels like driving on rails. Traded in an Acura MDX & wanted another AWD vehicle. Convinced the wife to look at Subaru vs Volvo/Audi. Back seats are much roomier than either brands. Initially looked at CVT for the better gas mileage but got the 3.6 instead for the power; we need it since we live on a hill. Will pass this car onto my son who'll start driving in 2yrs & wanted a safe & reliable car. This is my 1st experience w/Subaru and had some reservations about their long term reliability but after learning their history & sitting behind the wheel you feel very safe.

I was looking for a safe, reliable, all- wheel drive vehicle that had good gas mileage, and this was the car I choose. It is quick, responsive, and fun to drive. I initially got 28 mpg on it's first highway trip (doing 70-75 mph) and then got 30 mpg (doing 75-80 mph). The car still has under 1000 miles on it. The toggle shifters are fabulous, the suspension is stiff, yet comfortable, the acceleration is easily adequate, the stereo sound is excellent, the quietness was unexpected, and on top of it all, I got one heck of a deal. This Subaru may eventually turn out to be the best overall vehicles I've owned.

If you looking for space, lots of headroom even with moon-roof, comfort and style, snow capabilities, great MPG, and overall value, you MUST test drive the Legacy.

I got my Legacy Premium yesterday and what a great car. Traded a 2009 Honda Civic that was like a ski on snow. This feels like a much more expensive car than it cost. It is solid, stable, smooth and very comfortable. Drove through drifting snow on the Interstate at highway speeds and couldn't tell the difference from the dry road. I gave it a 9 on performance because it is not a sports car. The power is adequate, not blazing, but I knew that when I bought it. I even got an $80 break on my insurance with the Legacy over the Honda.

I am extremely disappointed with the incredibly cheap, flimsy plastic bumpers/fenders/fairings on my brand new Legacy. I live in Idaho where we have ice and snow on the ground all winter. My neighborhood remains icy and there are piles of snow at most of the corners. We have no through streets, lots of twists and turns. I always drive slowly in winter because of that. Yesterday I slid a little taking a left turn and the right front bumper hit a snowpile left by the city. I thought it was nothing to worry about but OMG the damage it did to that flimsy bumper was just way out of proportion to the impact. The Potenza's are awful on ice, and AWD/stability control did nothing to prevent the slide

Bought this for my wife who had been driving a van for 8 years. Got 32 mpg on first trip to visit daughter in college. Fun to drive in the snow up to our mountain cabin. Still feels like a luxury car to us. Wife wanted a BMW but really loves her Legacy. I love it too and hope to convince her to let me get an Outback. The headlights are weird in that they only light up the road right in front of you. There is a line of darkness that makes it dangerous on hills. Turning on the bright lights fix the problem so it's not a insurmountable problem. The dealer says they are aligned right and can't fix it. Subaru says they have had others people report this problem.

Legacy is even than I ever expected.

I've enjoyed driving my 2010 Legacy since October, but the December 2009 blizzard that hit the DC area and the 30 inches of snow we just received really proved the Legacy's capabilities. This car has every bad weather traction innovation available. The only possible way to improve snow ability may be upgrading to performance winter tires. Overall, the combination of performance, economy, comfort, reliability, and driving pleasure made this car an easy choice for me (w/wife and two kids). The manual shift paddles are a decent compromise - I prefer standard shift, my wife prefers slushbox. MPG is not phenomenal, but is 20% better than the previous year's Legacy. Not bad at all.

After looking at most mid-size sedans on the market, I knew the Legacy was for me. I purchased the Limited about 2.5 months ago and I have 2500 miles on it. So far, the only problem I've had is a leak in the sunroof after going to a high pressure wash. Supposedly it says to avoid high pressure washes, although I couldn't find it in the manual. Not a big deal, we've just changed our car wash and the problem hasn't reoccured. I love the CVT and the AWD has made the winter driving much easier. My husband is 6'5'' and has plenty of headroom, even in the passenger seat. We often have 5 adults in the car and there is always plenty of room.

Subaru Legacy is a great value. The interior is roomy and the trunk is sized for most everyday things. Big rear seats fold flat for longer items. The power driver seat has a ton of settings… I am still working on dialing in that perfect seat setting for me. The paddle shifters for the CVT are fun to use. The flat-four engine revs nicely and the lower center of gravity helps keep the car balanced in corner. Mechanically it sounds good too. Subaru Legacy has the best features of many of the others but with the advantage of standard ALL Wheel Drive...it’s a great mix of economy, comfort, and everyday drive-ability. Plus it had above average resell value & economical insurance.

My wife and I went to Detroit Auto Show to pick a new "fun" car. Had 14 on the list and as we continued to circle the show and whittle our choices down, we decided to look at Subaru (Wasn't on original list). Why didn't we look at it the first couple trips around? I heard the new body style was polarizing, but I fell into the bucket of "love it". I guess I just couldn't part with the AWD and was completely satisfied with the 2.5 in my 06 Outback. My wife stated it best: "The Legacy is a perfect blend of sport and luxury for us." If you are in the market for a car, at least put this on your list to test drive. I recommend 'Limited' if you like gadgets.

This is our 3rd Subaru, 2nd Legacy. This week was the 1st ice storm test. Waiting at a signal in a line of cars, everyone did something other than go strait. When it was our turn, the Legacy showed no sign of being affected by the black ice that caused everyone else to lose traction. Turning corners on ice, stopping on ice, everything the legacy did said safety and control. The only fear was being patient for all the sedans, minivans and trucks to finish their sliding so that the Legacy could maneuver through them. In style and comfort, its no different than Camry, Accord, Altima, Fusion, but in snowbelt, I wish everyone else drove a legacy, would be safer for me.

This car is awesome. I had never driven a Subaru before I purchased this car. I had previously test drove Accord, Camry, Avalon, Malibu, and Fusion. As a SUV owner for almost 10 years I have been spoiled with space and comfort. Not to mention that Im 6'2, space was essential. I felt claustrphobic in all the other autos except when the drove the Legacy. It was so SPACIOUS! Its AWD for those of us that get snow and are used to 4 wheel drive, and its just plain fun. The added bonus....MPG 22-31, a far cry from my 16 MPG Jeep Grand Cheerokee. If you looking for space, comfort, snow capabilities, great MPG, and overall AWESOME value, you need to definatly test drive the Legacy.

After 1000 miles behind the wheel, I continue to be very impressed with this car. I carefully considered other Japanese sedans (IS350, G37, Acura TSX V6) and selected the Subaru mostly for its total integration of performance, comfort, and excellent ergonomics. It was also less expensive. My only complaints are lack of a temperature gauge (MPG instead) and side mirrors that do not fold. I love everything else about this car. The instrumentation is outstanding; the engine responsive and loves to rev; the transmission with paddle shifters is the best I ever driven (both the Lexus and Acura had issues when transitioning into sport mode). And the navigation/audio system is great.

I was looking at options for trading in my 2003 VW Passat 4 motion when the salesman asked me to look at the Subaru Legacy. At first, I declined as I did not like my wifes 2005 Outback seat position. With some prodding, I agreed. Wow! What a difference in the 2010 Legacy. Larger than my Passat. Great seats. Rear seats fold down, great for ski's. The 2.5i with CVT was quicker than the VW and at 500 miles I am averaging 26 mpg. This includes driving up the mountain which kills gas mileage. The car has the upgraded HK stereo with bluetooth. Very nice. Did I mention the 500 miles has been put on over 3 days. Great car for taking the long way home. 2 big thumbs up for this car. Nice job Subaru!

I just bought a new azurite blue 2.5 cvt legacy and have been pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the ride is. So much that I find it easier to feel sleepy in lol! I've owned a 2002 wrx and didn't expect the acceleration to be as it was on that vehicle because the focus was on fuel economy this time. The roomy interior is almost cuv like. Coming from a coupe (civic ex) it seems cavernous, but it seems so much larger than most sedans too. This was a strong selling point while I was also considering a forester at the time as well. Turning radius makes u turns easy and quick! I'm glad i cam back to a subie! Plus the drivers side seat is ideal for tall and short people, wonderful driver seats

Just picked up a 2010 Legacy. It is the sixth Subaru for my wife and I since 2001. By far the quietest and the most comfortable. The increased room is greatly appreciated. Compared to the O8 Legacy 2.5 I that we still have, the ride is greatly improved but the handling has taken a slight hit. It feels more expensive than the 08 Legacy. There is no front end vibration and the dealer has indicated that no 2010 Legacy that they have sold has had the problem. The CVT appears to be well behaved. The car, the steering, and the controls are very tight- no rattles buzzes or wind noise. We had considered an Outback, but too much of the handling has been trashed to the point of unacceptability. Why?

Mine is the 2010 Legacy Premium 2.5i with CVT. The only option is XM satellite radio, otherwise stock. I love the exterior, in my opinion it resembles the Lexus IS250. The car feels solid, quality build. The 2.5i CVT with 170 hp is healthy; I traded down from a luxury car because of divorce. Besides the luxury doo-dads this car is just fine thank you. Smooth acceleration, not "jerky" from a dead stop. Feels like a performance car to me, it hugs the road. I'm just finishing my first tank of gas which gave 24 mpg in mostly back roads / highway driving. Hoping that will improve. Premium package is very basic, although the brushed metal appointments interior are nice.

I'm as happy about purchasing the car as when I first got it. This is a great car. Comfortable, great visibility, plenty of power. The only negative so far is the UI for the Satellite Radio. It's horrible. You only get one piece of information (artist name OR song name OR channel name), and only 10 characters. When you use the up/down button on the wheel, it cycles through all 150+ channels, not through my presets. Stupid. I didn't get the nav kit, can't say if that has the same issue.

I have boon looking for the right car for 6 months. I bought that car last Friday. We had 9" of snow Sunday, and packed snow/ice since then. 700 miles this weekend, including passing semi's on fresh snow. No other vehicles would give me the ability to that safely while getting over 30mpg at this price. The rest of the features/flaws lack relevance when 2wd vehicles become essentially un-driveable. I can't wait to drive it on dry pavement. Until then I will simply amuse myself laughing at those sliding backward on 7-8 degree iced roads, while carefully driving around them. I made sure to test drive this car at 65- 75, no vibration at all.

First, let me say that this is a company car that I did not pay for. I had a Chevy Impala for 3 years prior to this vehicle as my company car. I could choose a Malibu, Fusion, and Legacy. The Legacy beat the others out based on interior room, features, and styling. I love the interior design. I had the wood trim in the old car and I love the clean lines of the Legacy's black, silver, and tan trim. The curved backs on the front seats increase leg room in the back seat. I sit in the back with my daughter in her car seat in the middle and I have plenty of room I am 5'8. I love the cupholders in the door. Avg 27mpg combined. Subaru Legacy is a great value! CVT takes some getting used to.

Plus, if you are on the fence between the Premium and the Limited, spend the extra bucks for the Limited. I went with the Premium due to the excellent lease deal but can't begin to tell you how much I regret the decision. The stereo in the Legacy Premium is about the worst stock stereo I have ever heard. Also, really miss climate control and leather seats. If these things don't matter to you, then the Premium is a good choice.

I never even considered a Subaru, (I had not seen the 2010) and was very pleasantly surprised. Upon test driving the 3.6R it instantly took me back to my days of owning my Audi, but with more comfort and room. Exterior noise is quiet, but not as silent as the Audi. I'm averaging 32 mpg overall. Thank you Subaru for making a sporty-sedan that doesn't look like it should just be driven by a young kid. The Legacy has a very sporty-but-classy look to it. I, unlike many others who've posted, didn't drive all the comparable cars in the class because my funnest car (and ugliest) I've ever owed was a dumpy old Outback wagon that would never die. If that old 200+ thousand mile car could be so much fun and reliable to drive, I knew I'd be happy with this one. I was so right!

I wanted an AWD vehicle and test-drove a Ford Fusion since I was ideally interested in an "American" car. However the AWD Fusion is only available in the SEL V6 which is loaded with options I didn't want. My brother has owned several Subaru's & suggested I check them out. I was pleased that the entire legacy line comes in AWD (as does every Subaru model). I drove it and was impressed with the ride and handling and the price was within my budget without feeling deprived (moonroof incl.). I like the fact that you can get heated seats without splurging for leather/upgraded package (Ford take note). And then I found out it is assembled in Indiana. So I got a great "American" car after all!

I recently drove from Long Island to Atlantic City, and averaged 32mpg. Fuel economy was my reason for trading my tribeca, and the legacy didn't disappoint me. I've had two other legacy's, a 2000 gt limited and a 2005 gt limited turbo, but the 2010 is unlike either of them. The interior space is a great improvement, especially in the rear. The fit and finish is great, I'm no stranger to the boxer engine, and combined with the cvt, the car is a delight to drive. All in all, I love the car.

Update on the 2010 Legacy with wheel shake and constant correction needed to keep the car straight. Weeks later and the dealer has advised me that other 2010 Legacy owners are coming into the dealer with the same wheel shake and highway drift problem but that Subaru Corp has not found the fix. I'm in the process of seeking legal recourse to return the car. For those owners who don't have this problem consider yourself lucky. For potential buyers consider this car with caution and be warned that the test car did not have the problem.

After doing a lot of research, I settled on the 2010 Legacy 2.5i. The car is very solid on the road and very comfortable inside. The seat is very cozy and adjustable in so many ways. After a month I am still finding my perfect setting for it. My GF can't wait to take a long road trip in it bec pass area is so comf. The styling is very sleek and modern. I really think Subaru thought ahead on this one, despite what some reviewers have said about the inside cabin. It has a nice combination of tans, stainless look and black. Utility: both seats fold down in back and I was able to put a 6" long laundry table right in with no problem. I have 700 miles on it and 26 mpg on avg. Can't wait til winter!

I was looking for an AWD car with CVT and the legacy was the perfect choice. I love the new Subaru..I agree with one of the reviewers that maybe 30hp increase would work very well. It's fun to drive and hugs the road very well. I am looking forward to driving it this winter.

This is my third Subaru, and second Legacy. First Subie was a 2002 WRX, then a 2005 Legacy 2.5 Turbo GT. I loved my 2005 and yearned for more space and a six speed manual. I picked this car up three weeks ago and have 460 miles on it so I have not yet broken it in. The six speed has short, precise shifts. The engine is very smooth, and appears to have a bit more power than my 05. Subaru did one hell of a job adding space inside of this car. It is much bigger inside and much more comfortable. The 2.5GT Limited is a mean looking sedan, and is what the WRX strives to be. Great car, well equipped, fully loaded with NAV was 33K out the door and you CANNOT beat Subaru's AWD in the winter.

After 1500 miles behind the wheel in various conditions (except snow) I feel able to make a fair review. This car has met all my expectations so far. Plenty of power (very responsive 265 HP turbo) and room (five average adults do fit with some room to spare). This car is fun to drive and practical at the same time (AWD is great). This is the fifth Subaru I have owned over the years and the third with AWD. Contrary to many of the reviews about the MT-6 transmission I find it to be very smooth shifting with good clutch feel. Compared to the MT-5's of years past this is the best Subaru manual I have experienced (especially from 1st to 2nd). The new look exterior does grow on you too.

I have put about 500 miles on my Legacy and am quite pleased with it. It could use a little more power but it is all wheel drive which eats up some horsepower. Gas mileage at this point is better than advertised on the window sticker. A really good looking sedan. Very comfortable inside.

Subaru steps up the mid-size legacy inside and out. We own an 05 and were looking for something with more room, luxury features and interior. Researched so many vehicles. Wanted AWD for safety so we looked to Audi and BMW to compare. This car is great on the things that matter. Comfortable, safe, great on fuel economy and striking looks. Limited package is definitely worth the price.

Test drove the 09 Legacy and was it nice, then test drove the 2010 Legacy and fell in love with it. The overall style is awesome, performance is outstanding and comfort/room is great. Love the awd, especially here in Florida where it rains. Great control on wet pavement. Fuel economy for us, driving back and forth to take our son to school, we average about 30 mpg in city. On hwy, we averaged about 35 mpg. Can not complain.

I once owned a '94 Subaru Legacy with 4 cyl, TURBO, and AWD. That car was rated at 160hp and, when compared to my 2010 Legacy at 170hp, there's little doubt the '94 was the quicker and faster car by far. The '94 was a Movin' Mama! Why doesn't Subaru offer the 2010 Legacy with all the goodies: AWD, CVT, Turbo, 2.5 and AT? The sluggish power is the only glitch I've found on the 2010 Subie so all things considered, not bad. A lot to like on this version including the AWD, CVT, and lots more room and convenience extras the old car failed to muster. The 2010 Legacy, when compared to the likes of Camry and Accord (which I considered) is the clear winner= Most car, least $$.

As a life long Audi owner I had a hard time converting but the price and test drive convinced me to go Subaru. So far after only 300 miles I have found the steering to be average with shaking at speeds above 60 (Subaru Service says this is a known issue with no known fix yet). Highway handling is fair with several corrections needed to keep the car straight. Compared to the German brethren this car lacks driving exhilaration. On the plus the car is roomy, and priced well. The styling actually grows on you. The braking is superb. Good utility car but don't expect a lot of driving wow. Ask about the wheel shake when buying.

Bought today, 50 miles so far. This was my choice over Camry, Accord, Altima since they all had comparable features for the price EXCEPT for AWD. Car runs very smooth and feels solid on the road: The feeling of AWD pushing the vehicle rather than that "pull" feel from front wheel drivers. CVT trans is wowing me as there is no shifting and it cruises quietly: 70mph at about 2100RPM. Engine is very responsive and unless you really need to race, I don't see a need for the Flat-6. Base radio is also very good and can't justify spending the extra 1k for the HK Stereo option. I would recommend test driving this car if you're in the mid-size sedan market. Good luck haggling on a brand new car!

This is our first Subaru, we only looked at them because their advertising caught us. We had looked at many vehicles and settled on two. After weeks of contemplating, we ordered our new Legacy. We've only had it a few days and have not passed the break in period, but it's amazing. The boxer engine makes a huge difference, more than I thought. There is very little noise inside, the seats are comfortable and there is a lot of space, you can seat 4 adults more than comfortably and haul luggage for all 4 in the massive trunk as well. The 4 cyl engine feels like it has more than our 6 cyl mustang.

I've had my Legacy now for about two months. I've been very happy with the driving experience. The car handles extremely well. I am getting about 26 mpg in the city and about 32-33 on the highway. I got the all weather package with heated seats, heated mirrors, and heated wipers. I'm excited for winter for the first time in my life driving a vehicle! I enjoy the large tank (17 gallons). I was able to go on a 500 mile trip without stopping to fill up. Some people complain about the looks outside, but I like it. The interior space is incredible for a midsize sedan. Trunk space is adequate and designed well.

The vehicle makes a significant rattling noise at rest when warm. Subaru is aware of the problem but has no date for a fix. At times it sounds like a 30 year old Mercedes. It is difficult to get Subaru to respond. This is my first Subaru and based on my experience I'll never get another.

Replaced 2006 RAV4 Limited V6 4x4. I've clocked 2500 miles so far while averaging 29.1 mpg in the month I've owned the car. Mostly hwy commute on competitive rush hours. The 2.5 w/ CVT is weirdly smooth. I don't feel it in the seat of my pants, but the speedo spins up quick. I don't miss the power as much as I love the smooth, compliant ride. I always thought "corners like it's on rails" was hyperbole, but wow! Harmon Kardon system is clear to the top. The passenger room feels comparable to RAV except 6'3" son reports the back seat doesn't cut it for extended trips, no room to slouch. Kinda buzzy during hard acceleration at hwy passing speeds.

First Subaru I've owned, Germany watch out. After owning an Audi which I loved I switched to the 2010 Legacy. This car seems to have everything the Audi has without the 40K plus price tag. For 29K the performance is great. The 258 hp. 6 cyl (which runs on 87 oct.) matched to the new 5 speed auto with paddle shifters really gets the job done. The car looks very BMW like and the interior is top shelf with plenty of room for 5 real size adults.

I purchased my 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited almost a month ago. I have put a little over 200 miles on it since then and have enjoyed every last one of them. The car accelerates beautifully and the shifting is very smooth (especially for a Subie). I traded up from an Imprezza 2.5 TS sport wagon and the hard shifting was one of my complaints. These problems are now non existent however. The shift on the fly levers on the steering wheel are fun to use. Passing cars on the highway and merging on the interstate is a true joy in this car. The interior is very comfortable and the Harmon Kardon sound system has plenty of bump once you tweak it a bit. My only complaint is the bit of body roll.

Traded in '07 Civic and the Legacy is like driving a luxury car. Test drove a '08 Legacy but car gave rough ride and even smaller interior than the civic. Tested the '10 Legacy and was blown away. Great interior room, great ride quality, great radio sound. Engine sounds awesome under high rev but very quiet when cruising. Considering AWD and the price, you get A LOT for the money. I have 300 miles and am getting over 25 mpg and engine not even broken in yet. Love this car!

This is a unique automobile that should turn some heads while offering years of driving pleasure.

After test driving the Ford Fusion (nice vehicle), Toyota Camry and the Subaru Legacy and carefully researching all three, I decided to purchase the Subaru Legacy (1st time Subaru owner). The Subaru was the only AWD vehicle I tested out of the three. It was fun to drive and held the road very well. I tested the Subaru on an absolutely nasty day (rain all day) and it responded very well. I have owned my Subaru for over a month and can't wait to get behind the wheel.

Have had this car three days and taken trips through Adirondack mountains and on thruways. As past owner of Mercedes 300E, present owner of BMW 540i, must say that this car is on their level in driveability, handling and comfort on road. Am tall and seat support under thighs could be a bit longer, but after a few days am not thinking about that. I love this car, but don't love the navigation manual which is just plain awful in its paucity of descriptions. Spent almost two hours trying to figure out how to have a full screen mode for the great radio system control. But have finally mastered all of this. I'll be selling the 540i now with regret, but this is a worthy replacement.

This is the second Subaru we now own. We also have an '09 Forester Limited which is a great SUV and was the first Subaru we've ever owned. 1 year later, we now have a '10 Sky Blue metallic 2.5 Legacy Limited which is amazing. We've owned a Toyo Solara and Saab 9-5 and the Legacy surpass both in performance and handeling. The leather interior and overall layout is both elegant and simplistic. The exterior is also beautiful. It looks sleek and aggressive even when it's not moving.

I test-drove a lot of midsize cars and chose the 2010 Legacy for one simple reason: when the driver's seat is adjusted to be comfortable for me, there's still room for it to go back some more! And there's headroom galore, too, as the seat height is adjustable. Beyond the comfort, this car feels like it's glued to the road -- if I've driven another car that's more sure-footed, I don't remember when. The fuel economy of the CVT was the clincher (this car gets almost as good mileage as my previous car, a 2003 Hyundai Elantra, despite being much bigger and having AWD).

My wife and I were looking for a fun to drive and safe family sedan and after doing our research we decided to buy this 2010 legacy for the following reasons. This car handling is excellent for the price, the MPG for an all wheel drive vehicle is awesome for our wallets, crash test results are impressive! Perfect size - not too big not too small. We recently took a trip to Maine, NY and we got 32 mpg, this car handles the corners amazing, it feels strong and even though it is a 4 cyl engine for some reason it is very responsive and I actually love the noise that the engine makes when pushed hard. Overall this is the best car we ever got for our money, great value. We are in love with our new Subie.

Took my 03' outback sedan in for service when I decided to take a look at the new legacy. Test drove one and fell in love. Dealer got one for me in 5 days. This is my 3rd sub and the best yet. Was looking at other vehicles to replace the '03 because of leg room issues and better gas mileage. But, after the test drive I was sold. Subaru finally made a car for taller people and better gas mileage. I thought going from the 3.0 h6 engine to the new CVT may leave me wishing for the bigger engine but, this new CVT is great/mileage. I only wish Subaru still made the "Outback Sedan". Better ground clearance in Idaho winters.

I ordered my new legacy today. I shopped many dealers in and out of area. It is amazing what the difference in price can be. It drives really nice; the CVT sold me, decent pick up, quiet interior, great mpg, awd, handling, much more room than previous. Nice dash layout, price not much more than Camry, etc and it has standard awd which is sooooooo nice in winter and wet roads. A big improvement, hope it is very reliable. Almost bought new equinox - so glad I didn't!

Subaru did the right thing by making a more spacious interior, particularly legroom. Design remains 'under the radar' and turbo remains very quick, can snap to 100MPH by surprise, no dog here. Handling is smoother/ quieter than prior design, not quite the road feel tho. Just over 1200 miles & no issues, like it better each day.

I replaced my 2008 tribeca with the 2010 legacy, primarily to improve fuel economy. The tribeca is a great vehicle, but I wanted something more fuel efficient. This is my third legacy, having owned a 2000 legacy limited and a 2005 legacy gt limited. I love this car, the increase in interior space, especially with respect to the rear seating is welcome and a major improvement. So far I'm impressed with the mpg I've been receiving, and love the CVT transmission. What more can I say, it's a Subaru, they're the AWD champs.

06 Outback and time for something new, went to test drive a new Outback had to have the Legacy. Finally, a Subaru with an interior big enough for my toddlers' carseat! Love the looks inside and out. Yes, the 2.5 engine is not a good selection if you like to drag race. But realistically, it handles every day driving just fine, not a donkey. Gets over 30 mpg on the highway-really good for AWD. It handles exceptionally well, just drove it in a huge rainstorm and the car has nothing but confidence on the road. The CVT has an interesting feel, especially if you are coming from a 4 speed auto, it's very quiet and often at a low rpm. For 23k, AWD, moonroof, CVT and paddle shifters, hard to beat.

As soon as I heard about the redesign of the Legacy for 2010, I was intrigued. Many things were upgraded in this model year besides the interior space. The CVT works like a dream- very smooth acceleration (I am used to listening to the gears to know about how fast I am going, and this has been a bit of a change for me), and brings the rpms to around 2000 when cruising. The electronic parking brake is interesting (fine with me as I rarely use one anyway), but the hill holder feature is amazing. I wish I had something like that when I was learning to drive a stick. The paddle shifters are fun, and the controls on the wheel are great.

The scuff marks buff out after washing with a damp cloth but it is still a pain. My car almost looks dirty there's so many scuff marks! I'd hate to see what it looks like for someone who has kids!

I've had the car for a week and it's wonderful. 3.6R feels strong and smooth, 5-speed auto is spot on, and the car overall feels very well constructed and ridged without sacrificing ride quality. Has a sporty feeling overall. Interior room is superb (I'm 6'5") and materials feel very high quality. iPod/iPhone integration could be better as it's inconsistent (some touch screen buttons are inaccessible at times when they should not be). The NAV system also is not the most intuitive system out there but is very good. This car definitely looks better in- person compared to pictures where (for whatever reason) it tends to look awkward at times. Not so in real life.

Picked up the car 10 days ago and I love it! I think it looks really good both inside and out. I have the base engine with CVT for fuel economy and it is actually fun to drive for what it is, especially with the paddle shifters. I wish they would have offered the Premium with 17 inch tires though. I did not like the wood in the limited. I have never owned an all-wheel-drive car and like the feel. Corners very well, climbs hills without missing a beat, great fuel economy, average between 25 to 33 mpg depending on how much I let it idle with a/c. Not had a all highway trip yet. Very comfy compared to the 09. Cannot believe the leg and arm room. 3 kids in car and booster seats and they don't touch. WOW. By the way, these cars do not shift, they have no gears, they're very smooth and quiet. I really like the mpg usage gauge. Can put 20 ounce bottle in door pocket cup holder. Love the middle console and heated cloth seats. Highly recommend this car. First Subaru, and will stay Subaru. Can't wait until winter...

Living in Utah I needed something that that could perform year round unlike my last car. I knew I needed AWD so Subaru was the first car I thought of. My buddy works at the dealer so I went over, saw the Legacy, took it for a test drive, then had them get the papers together. The look of the car inside and out really sold me. The AWD was also key. This has got to be, by far, the best car you can get for the price that has AWD. I love the standard features like the iPod hookup. The rear seats have plenty of leg and head room as well as the front seats. Unless Subaru changes their quality and styling, I'll be a customer for a long long time. Now if it would only snow to test the AWD...

I owned an 05 legacy GT with an automatic, and traded it on an 2010 Legacy 3.6 Premium. BAD MISTAKE!!! The new Legacy GT doesn't come with an automatic anymore, REALLY BIG MISTAKE!!! I don't like manual transmissions, but like the performance of the turbo 4, so the only choice I had was the 3.6 6 cylinder, if you have a turbo 4 Legacy GT hold on to it, the gas mileage and performance of the 3.6 can't come close!!! WISH I STILL HAD MY 05 GT!!!

I previously owned a 2006 Forester and loved it, but the hour long commutes and gas mileage are why I change to the new Legacy. I could not be more happy with the car: it rides great; it gets very good gas mileage (average is about 28 mpg overall with 31 highway) for an AWD car; the options, such as bluetooth and media hub are great. I also "love" the lighting in the car as well. The ride is quiet and controlled. The Harmon Radio sounds great. I love the new styling; I have received many compliments on it already. The interior room is huge. Simply put, this is one great vehicle (rival any car), and Subaru has outdone themselves once again. I can see why "Love" is the theme for Subaru.

Driving it for under a week and love it so far. It handles very well and is getting great gas mileage around town. The 2.5 gets the job done but is nothing to brag about. Considering it is a 4 cylinder though, I am impressed. I also really enjoy the paddle shifters. The interior is very well done and the seats are comfortable. I have a lower back problem and generally need to use a back pad for driving, but not on this car.

I needed a midsized sedan that my wife would enjoy driving. My short list included the Ford Fusion, the Toyota Camry, and the Mazda 6. I test dove all four and the 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i with the new CVT transmission became my first choice. I like the styling, it looks expensive and it's clean aerodynamic line illicits lots of raves from friends. The car is roomy front and back and all the controls are accessed easily. The ride is solid with no swaying in the corners and adequate suspension on bumpy terrain. This is not a Hot Rod, it's 4 cylinder 170 HP engine with the new CVT automatic transmission gives you adequate acceleration for all sensible driving needs. Gas mileage 25/32.5.

Love the CVT

I've only had it a week but so far I'm loving it. There aren't many AWD sedans out there and most get lousy gas mileage. I don't think the 2010 Legacy looks any better or worse than the 2009 on the exterior. I do like the look and feel or the 2010 interior much better. The car drives very smooth and handles well. Has lots of little features I never knew I wanted.

Had a terrible time in the winter last year so I wanted something that would provide better driving so with the AWD Subaru was at the top of the list. The 2010 redesign caught my eye. It is now just as roomy as the Accord and Camry that I tried out and was quieter than the Accord. I chose it over the Camry due to the AWD. Although not as spirited in the engine from a start it is plenty powerful and cruises nice. I just hope the seats break in faster.

I was ready to purchase a 2009 model from the local Subaru dealer when I came across the 2010 Legacy. From the outside, you could not tell the 2009 and 2010 models are related. It was also apparent that the new Legacy was roomier for passengers. A quick test-drive around the block was impressive --- the CVT transmission shifted smoothly, the ride handled a rough parking lot (speed bumps and pot holes) admirably and the seating was comfortable for a petite female driver and her 6-foot passenger. With improved gas mileage and a price tag that was only $2k more than a 2009 Outback Sport and I was sold. The car sold itself. It didn't need a salesman to talk me into it.

After straying away from German cars and owning several Japanese cars/trucks/SUVs, I was determined to get back behind the wheel of a German car, most likely the king of them all. However, after doing a lot of research and then test driving the new Subaru 3.6R Limited, there was no doubt that I wanted this car. The look and feel of the 3.6R Limited cannot be beat, especially for the price of around $29k. It wants to go fast and handles better than any other all-wheel drive car I have owned, including those with Quattro. If you are considering a pricey German or any other Japanese brand, try the 3.6R Limited first. If you can find one, you will not be disappointed!

Horray for CVT!

I've had the car for two weeks and continue to be impressed with the design. The 2.5 is a little gutless off the line and under heavy acceleration, but it gets the job done and for the 26- 28 mpg I'm getting around the city on regular grade gas, it's well worth the trade. Averaged 32 mpg on a recent road trip. The CVT transmission is remarkably smooth and keeps the tach in a sweet spot. Handling is fantastic. What the Legacy lacks under the hood is more than made up for in the turns. Bluetooth works well, wheel controls are well placed, seats are comfortable and supportive and there is no lack of passenger space. No noticeable blind spots or tiny rear view issues as is common in many new cars.

I just picked up my new 2010 Legacy 2.5i Limited edition from the dealer today and I am absolutely thrilled will the whole package. I previously had a Volvo S80 and I enjoy the handling, comfort and quietness of the 2010 Legacy more than the S80 which cost me $15K more. The car looks fantastic, feels luxurious and handles and drives smoothly and precisely. This last winter in Seattle was the worst we've had for a while for long periods of ice and snow so the awd was the compelling feature, but I am blown away by the jump in interior space and smoothness of the cvt over the 2009 Legacy I test drove last year. Go Subaru.
