Bought this car used from a dealership with 126,xxx on it, and I have driven at least 900km since. It is a lot of km's for a 4-year old car, but I heard Nissan's will last forever it taken care of. I have no real complaints about the car. The engine makes a strange ticking noise whenever it's accelerating, but I'm assuming it's the timing chain..Unless this is a problem. Good on fuel, get around 370km to a tank, I got 310 on my old VW Golf. The only complaints I really have is that there are rust spots on the hood of the car. The look like they are from bugs. I plan on removing the spots in the summer. Also, the check engine has come on and dealership keeps saying it's the gas cap.

Maybe it isn't the prettiest, or the most feature rich, but nissan has made a car that has everything I need, and nothing I don't. It's fun to drive, gets good gas milage, has an auxilery port that is conveniently located so I can have my electronics in the stash box, has tons of room (a bigger back seat than my dad's jaguar), and has been essentially maintaince free the last six months. All in all, for the price I paid, I can't complain (even with only 37 k miles)

Love it so far.

I bought this car used. It has 40k miles on it but feels and looks new (kudos to previous owner). This car is a huge step up from my former SUV which as we all know was clumsy and a gas hog. This car is like a toy for me. It zips when I need it to and stops when I need it to. Corners like a champ and is full of features. Excellent car for the price.

All I can go by is the three weeks I had my car but I had a bad experience. Acceleration in a word SUCKS! Its not as bad on the freeway but when you press on the petal it feels like your going no where. Its the worst on complete stops when your trying to pick up speed in traffic. More than once people honked and gave me dirty looks. If the gas mileage was good I would overlook this but thats not even the case, and I use midgrade. Interior rattles all the time and reeks of cheapness. The overall design is nice and the headroom is amazing, however he leg room could be a bit better. Had to take it back to the dealer four times due to a defect in the suspesion before they upgraded me to a sentra

I bought my 2010 Versa SL Hatchback new in 2010. Options included the premium package and floor mats. The mileage rating on the window sticker indicated 28 city and 34 highway. In several 500 plus mile trips on interstate highways through the mountains of PA it did indeed get 34 mpg's, no more, no less. In city driving it has gotten close to 28 mpg's, sometime a little more, sometimes less. I have discovered that running the a/c or the defroster has a negative effect on gas mileage to the tune of 4 or 5 less miles per gallon in city driving. Very reliable, no issues.

I have been driving my Versa for a few months now. It's been a great car! Small, but incredibly roomy. It definitely feels like a much larger car that it actually is. Right now I'm getting around 29 mpg (mixed driving). I wish that was better...I'm hoping gas mileage improves as it gets more broken in. I wish it had a little more power as well - but it's not really meant to be powerful! Overall, comfortable and affordable car.

My Nissan Versa has been sitting in the repair shop for over 6 weeks waiting for a gasket for the radiator!! I would have never bought this car if I had know how hard it is to get parts! We have also had it in the shop because it died and needed a fuse. They keep lots of these in stock--must happen often. What a mistake.

So last week I traded in my Chrysler Sebring convertible, and I am absolutely satisfied with the Versa. I wanted to trade the convertible for a more family oriented car. I wanted a car with good gas mileage, and at 35 highway without being a hybrid this car gets great MPG. I wanted a safer car, and the Versa has great saftey features. It is VERY room on the inside, trunk space is generous. Car has a smooth, quiet ride. For a 4 cylinder sedan it has some pick and go, it also handles the turns well. The A/C and heater are great. The sound System is great. My wife and I are completely satisfied.

I just purchased a gently used 2010 Nissan Versa Hatchback. This is actually my second Versa and I'll keep buying them. The cost is incredible, the quality is fantastic, the value for your money is unmatched. I drive 30 minutes each way for work 5 days a week and do quite a bit of road trips to see family. The Versa is fun to drive, is great on gas and it's roomy and comfortable. I have an 8-month-old son and it's so much easier getting a car seat in and out of this car than any other I've had. The doors open wide and the seats are a bit higher, so it's easy! The first Versa I had took a ponding in a severe hail storm. It cleaned up great and went on ticking!

I had one of these as a rental in the summer and it seemed to be a solid, quiet, tightly built little car. Ok so I bought one. Now the weather is cold and the cheap plastic used for the console and dashboard rattles and squeaks like crazy until the interior warms up. Not impressed.

All of the good things you have read about the Nissan Versa are true. Unfortunately, the front bumper cover is too low to the ground and the clips that hold the cover on are too fragile. Half my clips broke within the first month of driving, the cover bottoms-out exiting driveways of all kinds. The impact causes the too fragile clips that hold it on to the car to break. The cover is now held on with epoxy and aquarium glue. The Nissan Versa also has a multi-year history of faulty tire pressure monitoring systems and this has not been fixed for 2010. Dealerships have no fix for this since the problem apparently is the result of poor engineering and manufacturing of the air valve stems.

We bought this car about 2 months ago with 4200 miles on it. It was a dealership beater car for them. The car now has 8500 miles on it and it's now in the shop having the engine replaced. As soon as we got the car, I realized the number of RPM the engine turned so I chose to switch to full synthetic Mobil1 5/30. After 2900 miles, my roommate came home and explained to me the car was ticking. I pulled the oil stick to reveal a clean stick, NO oil. Now, after 2 weeks and a new engine, I'm still in a rental car because they can't get the new engine to run right either. Hope its fixed soon. Awesome gas mileage and comfortable. PLEASE LASSIE COME HOME. Hope no more problems after this!

I've had my new car a week now and so far I love it. I put a lot of miles in every week and find this car very comfortable and am getting the 34 mpg hwy. Woo Hoo! Lots of interior room - I didn't have a lot of money to spend so got the basics - wish I would have got power locks - there is no key for passenger side so lots of reaching across to lock and unlock doors. Otherwise it's a 10!

I bought this car for my mother and initially felt bad that I could not afford a nicer car for her. This completely changed once I got a chance to drive it! With the CVT, hatchback, upgraded interior this car is absolutely wonderful. I drove over 600 miles in one day and felt comfortable (I'm 6'4"!) and relaxed. The CVT is extraordinarily smooth and efficient and had no problem with power up mountains. This car is awesome, a great commuter, and I managed an average of 34-35 MPG during the trip!

Only complaint about this car is its interior upholstery. Everything sticks to it, therefore it is constantly covered with fibers from clothing and whatever else is flying in the air. Vacuuming helps, but have to work really hard to remove particles from upholstery. Even the upholstery itself seems to fluff up when it's vacuumed. The seats are very soft and comfortable but impossible to keep clean. Other than this complaint, this car is very nice.

We purchased our 2010 Versa. In April 2010. Over all it is a great car. Great gas mileage. But the only problem we are having with ours is it doesn't even have 10,000 mile on it but the brakes squeak. We took it in to the dealers several times. For repair but they still squeak.

The car is awesome overall - very, very smart indeed, nippy/fast around town, but engine is geared low (hence the nippiness) so it revs high on freeway - 4k rpm for 80 mph - sounds like you're in a washing machine. backseat leg room is inexplicably huge - really - even for two 6'6" men sitting tandem it's huge. The inside materials are surprisingly good. gas mileage so far is 34 freeway, 30 commute (mix). So thats fine. The front-on view is pretty ugly, it has to be said, but I rarely see it, so i don't care. manual transmission is fun but notchy - this is no sports car (you knew that already though) Excellent value for money - 11.4k with destination, before tax etc. can't be beat.

You get what you pay for. I am satisfied with the car considering what I paid for it. There are some recurring themes of problems (let's face it we want to know the bad before we buy): 1. There is occasional weird noise when I make a hard right turn at > 30 mph from the rear right wheel. 2. Transmission down shifting is non- existing, it is another weirdness to it overall not very smooth. 3. Experience the fan on with only 10 secs interval when the air conditioning is on. That does not sound right. That's about it, the good news is that if your car is exhibiting one or all of these symptoms, well that's the point of 36,000 3 year warranty, get the bugs worked out while its covered.

I wanted a safe, economical, practical car for my daughter to drive and the Versa is all that and more. The ride is quiet and smooth, the interior is comfortable and the controls are well thought out. We got 33 MPG on the highway driving to Texas...not too shabby. Plus, the car looks WAY better than the Fit or Yaris - especially if you get the red version and put on some window tint! 50 cu.ft. cargo capacity with the seats down, plus, the engine has a timing chain - not a belt! In my opinion, this car is hands down one of the best cars in it's class today.

We purchased the Versa with all the available options including premium package, cvt, nav, and sunroof. This car is awesome!I drive a BMW and the Versa is still a blast to drive. You have to go with all the extras for sure to make this car purchase worthwhile.Upgraded stereo is incredible with satellite and unbelievable sound with six speakers. The cvt is a must and the interior upgrades are a outstanding. the center console addition is perfect. We drove the basic model without the extras and there is no comparison to the fully loaded version. The price was crazy cheap given what we got. Gas mileage is great. We love the car!

I purchased this vehicle NEW 2 days ago. Within 10 miles I had brake pedal feedback/shudder. At 200 miles, the brakes shudder so hard that the steering wheel almost shakes your hand off of it. The A/C compressor was cycling in/out way too often. Check engine light on at 225 miles. Took it to the dealer today - Updates as of current: 1) Front rotors are warped 2) A/C compressor is shot, needs to be replaced 3) "We haven't had a chance to find out what the 'service engine soon' light issue is, nor have we found the source of the odd howling noise. This is the 2nd Nissan that has had ridiculous issues, but this one is only 36 HOURS OLD!

Love this car and being able to put the money on the table and drive it off the lot (to quote Boz Scaggs)! Paid cash-and after a minimum amount of discussion got the vehicle for under $10,000.The car is quite basic-made the dealer put in a radio/cd as it had nothing(got a nice Pioneer) manual windows, locks, etc. but we don't care - awesome trunk-huge and the car hits 60 mph quickly! Also, saving a bundle on gas(commute 70 miles/day). Yeehaw- gotta love this Flintstones mobile!

We have been looking and comparing cars for a while. We decided to test drive the Nissan Versa Hatchback. We drove the base model and then the SL. The SL model is the way to go. Ours has everything except the moonroof and navigation. I am really spoiled with all the extras. It is so quiet, and rides wonderfully. I have to watch my speed, because it feels like you are not moving that fast. There is so much room. We have 2 Aussies and lots of stuff and this can carry it all. It feels and looks like it should cost more!

I bought this hatch because it had more room for passengers than any comparable cars. The Fit handled better, but seemed geared higher & had less room for passengers in back. The Yaris was tiny, had the annoying center gauges & felt like it would roll easily. Over 6500 miles, my Versa is getting 32 mpg (rural commute). The car is comfy, stable & handles well. It is too early to predict long term reliability. The only major knock I have is the drivetrain. The 6 speed manual needs a higher overdrive. The Clutch is a bit vague & needs to have more "feel". My total price was $15,000 out the door with California taxes and title for a 1.8S with power package, VDC and 5 yr. 0.9%. financing.

Have 3000 miles after 3 months. No defects (that is the way all new cars should be). Getting decent highway mpg - last trip about 34. Quiet, roomy, comfortable seats, easy to reach controls, nice instrument panel layout, adequate acceleration, intermittent wipers and washers front and rear - nice! adequate a/c, bright headlights with excellent width/range. Engine quiet at idle and not too noisy during acceleration. Seats four adults comfortably without needing to adjust front seats (awesome!) Standard speakers in stereo not so good - have not been able to adjust treble/bass good enough yet. Cloth seats are lint magnets - will need to get a lint brush.

Let me start by saying I do really like this car. It handles well and is very quiet. Ingress and egress is phenomenal. Gas mileage is really good for a 1.8 liter engine. My only real complaint is that the rear door window shattered without warning today. I can't say for sure that nothing hit it to make it happen but it was quite explosive (glass flew to the other side of the car). I'm fortunate that no one was sitting in the back seat at the time as they surely would have been hurt. First question, what stops the window from rolling up when it finishes closing? If it's the glass itself then there could be too much stress on it. Might be worth a look from the design engineers.

I was looking to replace the wife's Scion xA. The car is a bit larger and MUCH more comfortable. Quieter, more legroom. Sound system is good. Visibility is very good. I tried the Yaris, xD, and Fit and got this one for the quieter more comfortable ride. The others were more like sports cars (to me). After 3000 miles, so far so good. Gas mileage is a bit lower (averaging 30 mpg mixed driving) than the Scion.Got the drop-in rear storage compartment for $120 and a $50 armrest/console from eBay. A nice little car. I'm 6'6" and fit quite well.

And it comes with center armrest! and Ipod hookup! also Sl has few great features that take away most complaints I have seen! If people were not so cheap they would get a much better value for some pocket change! really peppy car actually went from a Pontiac G6 gt to this and his would probably keep up with it! lol handles nice and very very comfy! also more lighting and mirrors in the SL! great buy for the price. I bought the Versa after attending a car show and sitting in every small car made. The Versa is extraordinarily roomy and comfortable for its size, as roomy as most midsized. The headroom, both in front and in back are excellent. The seats are comfortable, especially for a subcompact. I've read some comments about the width of the Versa. It is indeed narrow, but the designers have constructed the Versa in such as way as to create a sense of greater width than it objectively has. I'm pretty wide, 5' 6" and 250, and I truthfully do not feel squished. I've owned my Versa for about 3 months. It handles beautifully. The ride is quiet. I highly recommend it.

I test drove a Honda Fit and this car and the Fit could not match the comfort of this car. My two year old daughter loves it. I am very upset for having made mayor mistake in buying this car. It rattles badly, has terrible fuel economy, is uncomfortable to drive, the price is not competive with other small sedans. I do not know what I was thinking when I bought this. I would only buy a Toyota or a Chevy next time.

I used to own a Nissan 200 SX SE and I just bought a Nissan Versa SL yesterday after comparing and shopping around. I've considered Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Honda Civic, and Mazada3. Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris felt cheap and uncomfortable compared to the Nissan Versa. Mazada3 and Civic EX-L seemed unnecessarily expensive. I also read reviews that said the Civic EX is loud on the road. The Versa is very smooth, roomy, comfortable, quiet on the road and beautiful. Not the prettiest appearance on the outside but definitely practical. So far I love everything about it and I can't stop smiling. Really love the CVT transmission, b/c it's so quiet that my boyfriend kept on falling asleep in it.

I bought the base model for the automatic. No power anything, and no radio even (Went to best buy to buy a better one anyway). I only needed to replace my 2 door Civic I had sold in preparation of my first child. Its perfect for what I need. You won't find a cheaper new car that is decently built. You sit up higher than most sedans too. I like that! Although its taking me some getting used to pulling into a parking space as you can't see where your front bumper ends. Think the bubble shape is cute too. My tall husband can drive this car waayy most comfortable driving this car too, more leg and head room than most cars, doesn't feel small at all! A good purchase!

Mixed feelings...love it but worried...

I love this car inside and out! Except that I've only had it for less than 24 hours, (w/25 miles on it when I drove off the dealership) and the same thing happens to me as one of the reviewers...a weird knocking sound coming from the right front tire. It happens when I accelerate right after driving and/or backing out of a spot. The steering wheel also makes a squeaking sound when backing up into a spot. I'm not sure if I should be concerned because it's a brand new car or maybe it just needs to be driven more and the noises will go away through time. Other than that, I am super happy with the build quality and fine interior.

Because my son had an accident with our '98 Honda Accord (233,000 miles), I had to give him my '07 Honda Fit manual shift (108,000 miles) so that he can get to school. I had to buy a commuter car and the Versa was my choice. It is an SL fully loaded. I will be putting in excess of 45,000 miles a year on this car just like I did with the Honda Fit. So far for commuting, the Versa is miles ahead of the Fit. The '07 Fit is a very fun car, but not a commuter car for the city. The ride is just too stiff on NY City streets. If I really need fun, thankfully I still have a supercharged BMW 540 on the side.

So far the car is amazing! We looked all around car shopping and we could not find any other car that could compare. As they say the price was right. Make sure to get the S series not the base it makes a difference. The only problem we ran into is we never owned a brand new car so no one told us that the first 5000 miles you get less MPG than on the sticker "engine Brake in they call it" except no one at the dealership told us. Worth the test drive!

I am quite pleased with this car. fun to drive, peppy,,, has acceleration if you need it, Clutch is a little soft or sensitive, I'm used to Toyota Tercel 1997, with new clutch, so slightly different drive. the computer throttle cable has a 1 second lag in response to push of pedal or release so feels more like an automatic in that sense. first gear is really a short gear, almost too short, red lines in less than 1.5 seconds,,,, halfway through a turn from stop sign. Handles sporty compared to my old car. Lots of Interior room, especially adults in back. seats fold down flat really helps in cargo department. Stereo is actually acceptable and that's coming from a stereo freak!

Seems like a great value so far

This car has worked out great so far, the price was low enough that I was able to afford nice extras inside. Lots of little things are included in the Versa: long sun shade works well for shorter drivers, good interior storage (huge glove box), you sit up high w/good visibility, impressive rear leg room, cool sunglass holder and iPod attachment. Handy radio controls on steering wheel. I held out for the Metallic Blue color because it's my favorite. Took another reviewer's advice and paid extra for the rear cargo organizer; it makes that deep hatch back well level with the fold-down seats and hides some of your stuff. Gas mileage only so-so.

Love the car

Car is well worth the money. Has plenty of power to accelerate on to the interstate, without worries. A/C cools the car quickly. Stereo has great bass and sound quality. Car is quiet no wind noises up to 80 mph. It's light weight so be prepared when an eighteen wheeler fly by. Any compact will give you the same feeling of being blown off the road. Wish the rear seat on my sedan folded down, but does have a lot of trunk space. Blind spots and the small quarter glasses on the front doors take some getting use too. Automatic trans shifts smooth, 1.8L engine has noticeable injector noise or valve noise when accelerating hard. Would buy again, and again. Great gas mileage..

Very nice car for the money!

My wife had a 2002 Subaru Forester and it was time to get her a new car. She loved the Forester so I knew that it was going to be difficult finding her something she would like as well. After looking at the Honda Fit, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Matrix, and VW Golf, there was no question that the Versa was the right car for her. She absolutely loves the car, especially the unique Espresso Black color, which is actually a dark brown. The gas mileage is tremendous and it is really fun to drive. I would recommend spending a bit extra to get the SL package as it is much more comfortable and the standard options it comes with make the driving experience better.

Nice little car with great gas mileage. Had minor electrical problem before 3000 Mi. Plenty of room inside. Sufficient engine power. Ride is good for a small car. Seats are comfortable. Not too noisy.

Picked after trying all the others!

My husband and I tried every other hatchback and station wagon under $20,000 (including some used) before deciding on the Versa. We tried both the S and SL hatchback and chose the SL because it has much smoother acceleration, iPod hookup, and VDC and stability control (great in the snow!). So far, the car has been a joy. Handling is responsive but not too stiff. Some of the other hatchbacks felt like "kid cars" to us, but the Versa is roomy, with the most backseat space for a carseat to fit if needed. If you get the hatchback, make sure to purchase the $130 cargo organizer for a level load floor with bins below.

Very Happy so far

We have only had the car about a month but so far we are very happy with it. We wanted fuel economy, the first tank we got 31.8, not bad for combined city and highway driving. The car is very comfortable. We looked at the Fit, the space with the rear seat folded down is great, but the seats are very hard.

Bought the 2010 1.8S Hatchback versa on the last day of September 2009. It is fun driving. The manipulation is good, although acceleration is a bit weak. Very spacious inside. So far have only one minor problem on the trunk door ajar light, but the dealer was able to take care of it very quickly. A car of good value.

We compared this car with with the toyota - yaris - no comparison scion - xD - too expensive hyundai - accent - poor build quality and underpowered honda - fit - nice but way overpriced The Versa is a very comfortable car, enough power to get onto a highway, and quiet. I get 28 mpg around town. We purchased it with the power package which includes cruise control. This is a tight little car. I will let you know in a couple of years if it was a good value. But so far, we like it.
