This was my third Murano,SL AWD. Bought my first one in 2004. I now have 163,500 miles on it and it is still in top shape. I do not garage keep this car and it has sat out in Pittsburgh area weather for the last five years and stills looks as good as it did when I bought it in 2010. I average between 20 and 22 mpg around town. I get between 24 and 29 mpg on a trip, depending on the speed. If I keep it around 60-65 I get better mileage. Awesome in the snow and ICE!!! One heavy car. Handles like a sports car and nearly drives itself on the open road. Change oil and rotate the tires every 3000 miles. Use standard oil, no synthetic. I have been averaging 40,000 miles to a set of tires.

I have a 2010 Nissan Murano, SL, AWD. First noticed transmission oil leak at 20K on garage floor. Maybe tablespoon full of fluid, Took to Lee Nissan in Topsham, Maine and techs could not locate the leak. Drove car directly to my personal mechanic who located the leak within 30 seconds of having the car on his lift. Leaking transfer case at the impellar shaft. Took it back to Nissan who all of a sudden, could also see the leak! 'Fixed' under warranty. At about 48K, noticed leak again. Same runaround with Lee Nissan of Topsham. Fixed under warranty. Fast foward to 77k on odometer. Wife is driving on highway and transmission stops working. Car towed to Nissan who states that both Tranmission an

I've had my Murano 19 mo. and have enjoyed the style, handling and fair gas mpg so far, avg. 23 mpg overall. Last mo. noticed oil seeping from the transfer case, took it to the dealer thinking oil seals needed replaced and was told the complete transfer case would be changed. Four days later it was fixed, (free rental car was given), and everything seems fine now. After reading many stories online about transfer case and cvt trans. problems involving earlier years I'm a little concerned that they may not have been rectified.

Still very happy with the vehicle. No repairs just normal maintainence through 45,000 miles. Tires will need a refresh at 50,000. Leather looks brand new. Love the wide cargo area in the back - great for golf clubs. Fun to drive for an SUV. CVT will remain a worry until the newer models show they hold together than the 07 and earlier models.

This was my wife's car. We both absolutely loved it. One morning at o dark thirty, my wife was on the way to work with our grandson in the car to drop him off at daycare. The car started slowing down to the point that it wouldn't go any further. My wife and grandson were stranded on a dark highway with no street lights. Bottom line, at 40'000 miles the transmission went out. The car has been at the dealership for over a week now. They are waiting on a new transmission to come in. It projected to to be ready next week. I'll believe that when I see it. In the mean time, I'm stuck paying $200 a week for a rental car. Nissan won't pay the rental car even though it's a warranty service issue.

Absolutely love this vehicle!

After many weeks of research & test drives, I purchased a 2010 Murano SL with leather, moonroof, bluetooth, ipod, upgraded Bose stereo, Homelink, backup camera. I researched and drove: Honda CRV, Subaru Outback; Subaru Forester; Volvo XC60; Volvo XC90; VW Tiguan, Kia Sorento and (but didn't drive) Audi Q5, Rav4, so a very broad spectrum. The is by far the best value: more luxurious than Subaru, Honda, Rav4 and Kia; more for the money than Volvo and Audi; more space than a Tiguan; same or more power than most; same or better mpg than most. Nissan reliability (vs. Audi, Kia & VW). I love this vehicle and highly recommend it!

I purchased this vehicle at the end of 2010 and was torn between the '10 or '11. Because of the incentives that were being offered on the '10 I was able to get a loaded '10 vs '11 for even less money. I was deciding between the new Ford Edge and this one and glad I picked the Murano. It is a GREAT vehicle and the more I drive it the more I love it. I have never had a Nissan and I am really impressed with it and the way it was put together. It def. has the power and performance for a SUV, and doesn't feel like I am driving a boat. I have only put about 100 miles on it so far, so time will tell.

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but Edmunds was very helpful as I purchased the Murano so I felt obliged to return the favor. I’ve purchased maybe half a dozen cars in my life and my Murano is by far my favorite. It’s very fun to drive, especially coming from a trucky SUV. The interior is very well thought out, with everything seemingly where you’d expect it to be. And I’ve yet to walk up to it and not like how the exterior looks. It’s really nice to have no regrets about such a significant purchase. I’d definitely recommend Nissan and the Murano.

Now that we've put on a few more miles an updated review seems in order. We drove on 2 winding, steep mountain roads in the Hell's Canyon area of Idaho, and were so pleased with how little effort it took for the Murano to negotiate those roads. Going down I used low gear or the over-drive button on the side of the shifting lever, so that hardly any braking was needed. Going up I left it in "over-drive off" and the vehicle seemed to just glide around and up those steep corners and hills. With the Murano's ease of steering I could keep one hand on the wheel and one on the shifing lever. This is all coupled with an incredibly smooth ride, so that driving those roads was simply a joy to behold.

Didn't go wrong this time!

Traded 2008 GMC Acadia for a 2010 Murano SL. The Acadia was larger and I miss not having the bumper sensors and Onstar, but something has to be said about reliability. We are so pleased with our Murano. Gas mileage is anywhere between 19-26 mpg and this has just been a joy to own and drive. You can't go wrong with a Murano.

Excitement of the new car purchase did not last long. Our AWD SL 360 package came with in built wind noise. The dealership insisted that the wind noise is not an issue and they branded it as normal operation. But for 35K car I expect it not be noisy on a long drive. We do a lot of long drives and listening to music on a windy day is frustrating. Driving this car is fun if you don't cross 60 mi/hr. Love the Bose Music system.

Update from 4/20/10. Have read all of the reviews of this vehicle and they overwhelming positive. The "negatives" I feel are minor, especially the wind noise of the moon roof, open the front windows a crack and it helps a lot. I sometimes drive 450 miles in a day and I have never had more comfortable seats. I've owned SRX, Audi, Subaru, Mitsubishi and a Maxima over the last 10 years. No car is perfect and I was able to get a heck of a deal on mine. The only thing is that the day after I bought it, 3/31 at 9:30 pm the next day went to 0%. I was a bit annoyed at that, felt dealership should have been honest, said they didn't know, but I think they do know.

Too cool for school!

I recently switched from an Xterra to the Murano, and although I am still getting used to the change in platform-truck to car platform, I am very pleased. The Murano is an excellent ride, smooth, great pickup and really brings a bit of sporty fun to driving. Not for trucking through the woods, but the LE is well trimmed, leather is comfortable, stereo is excellent. I love driving it.

The Murano had less than 5 miles when purchased. 6 months later, A/C went out. Diagnosis:Defective Hose. 8 months later, throttle accelerates on its own, which prevented me from braking. Luckily, I was able to kill the engine. Diagnosis:Defective Throttle. Car was towed to Baker Nissan. They suggested I call the dealership I purchased vehicle from. Said "If they care, they will buy it back". Called Sterling McCall, they said there was nothing they could do & directed me to Nissan Corp. Even after the Toyota issues, they said it has been fixed & denied the request for a buy back. Instead, they offered me a service program to make me feel better.

This is my second Murano & our 39th new vehicle. liked the newer body style so bought. It's a fun to drive nice looking sporty crossover & very quite. Not as luxurious a ride as the wife's Lexus RX350H but just as quite. I like to feel the road not float over it so the Murano is great in that respect. Great handling & gas mileage true to it's rating. Had no troubles with my first Murano after 2 years & 18K miles so expect none with this one though I'll probably will be looking for new in a couple years as have throughout my spoiler life.

Seats are very uncomfortable and do not have enough adjustments. Rear cargo area is cheap, piece of carpeted plywood covers the spare tire. Used AWD last night for the first time, it stayed engaged even at 40/45 mph, the manual says it cuts off after driving past 6 mph. I may not entirely understand the AWD feature. Rear seats recline, very nice feature for rear passengers. Very smooth car like ride. Overall a nice vehicle but the seats are a real drawback, my 2001 Pathfinder seats were much more comfortable.

so far enjoying this crossover. just wish the gas mileage was a little better. also the le comes standard with 20" tires. would rather have had the 19" tires that come on the other models. the tire life is short and this tire is very expensive to replace. the gps is excellent and easy to operate. the car is expensive looking without the price. i am hoping it handles as well during the winter as it does during the summer. i have never had all wheel drive, but will probably give it a good test this winter

I bought my Murano two months ago. It drives well. The salesman took me around the block at around 40-45 miles per hour. After the purchase i drove it home using the highway. The wind noise is absolutely intolerable. i took it back to my dealership and the service rep says its common in all Muranos with a sunroof and Nissan does not consider it a defect. Well please excuse me for so being annoyed for paying over 30K for a car and expecting excellence. The Nissan USA rep basically overwhelmed me with her kindness and all but told me to fly a Kite. Shame on you Nissan for selling me a substandard car. I will never buy Nissan and will pass the same advice to my close friends and relatives.

Considered a Infinit FX-35 and Audi Q5 but got the Nissan with the same equipment for much less. Rear view camera system is very quick when shifting to reverse. Runs fine on regular gas.

I've owned an Acura MDX which cost about $5,000 more than my well appointed Murano and must say the Murano is more impressive. I test drove many nameplates in the Murano class with the same result: The rest failed to measure up to Murano's standards in terms of overall quality, features, looks and performance. The Murano is not a cheap car by any means but it is the standard for others to be judged by and by my experiences the others are in need of playing catchup.

Coming from a 2007 Maxima into the Murano, I can say it does not disappoint. I can only describe this vehicle as awesome. The engine is smooth and powerful and this is using regular grade fuel and the CVT trans only compliments it. The fit and finish on the body is flawless. The interior has a rich, classy look and feel and is plenty roomy in both the front and back. The navigation system works really well and is simple to use and accurate. The ride is great, I have driven my friends Lexus RX 350 and can only say that the Murano is equal to or better than it for about 8 grand less. If you are on the fence about buying this vehicle just jump off and buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Love my Murano so far. Only bought it 2 weeks ago. Love the smooth acceleration. I live in Texas hill country and the Murano glides over the hills. Love the quiet & smooth ride and the comfortable leather seats. First tank of fuel was 20.5, which is not the greatest, but I didn't expect much more. So far am using mid-grade gas, although premium is recommended. I had a 2003 Infiniti G-35 a few years ago and regular fuel worked in it OK, & basically it's the same engine. I traded in two Hondas (CR-V & Civic Hybrid) for the 1 Murano. This of course, head & shoulders above either of those vehicles.

We had to wait to get a white SL with the packages we wanted (sunroof) and waited for the right price as well, Premium and Sport. I didn't think I could afford such a luxury SUV! I LOVE THE WAY THE MURANO DRIVES! I feel like I'm driving a Lexus. For the price, this SUV is wonderful, roomy, comfortable, stereo is great, love the 6CD Changer, Sirius XM and I can use my MP3 Players! The back up camera is a must and I read some reviews about the driver seat not being low enough and it bothered me for a day or so, but I was able to get the back part of electric seat to go up so I can see over the hood and the front part of the seat felt lower, so I'm used to it now. What a sweet ride!

Looking with similar options, it was 10 grand difference. I followed edumnd's advice, as well as tmv. It was no brainer that murano had better finance option plus better interior except that Audi q5 had better panoramic roof. Any how I loved this vehicle and every single option makes it one of the best car buying experience.

I gotta say - I love this car. I drove my RX330 again today and while the Lexus wins on build quality - the steering, brakes, technology and toughness of the Murano excel. I love the looks, the use of space, the seats. The Lexus has been around and performed well over the years - I will need to rewrite this in 5 years. For golfers - the Murano holds clubs across the back storage - 4 bags easy - the Lexus was not wide enough. I also notice the climate control is better than the RX - one always hit me in the face the Murano circulates the air more effectively. For Mid-size SUV the Murano is hard to beat for value, performance and features.

My wife and I looked at multiple vehicles by multiple manufacturers to replace our 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. We narrowed our list to the Nissan Murano SL and the Honda CR-V EX-L. We took a final test drive with both vehicles on the same day and it was no comparison, the Nissan Murano had superior comfort, better ride quality, more trunk and interior space and more features for the money. We have put 2500 miles on the Murano and we absolutely love it. We have been averaging 21 to 23 MPG using midgrade and premium gas. The CVT transmission is amazing and want to replace our other vehicle, having a six speed auto, with one that has a CVT transmission.

The Murano drives and rides like a much more expensive vehicle. The interior is on par with our Infiniti M35. It is quiet and well mannered on the highway and around town. While it does require premium fuel, we haven't found that to be a drawback considering that decent mileage it gets.

I needed a vehicle that is comfortable to drive and has some extra room. Traded in an 08 Outlander XLS, which is a great small SUV...but just too small for me. Looked at Lexus Certified, way too much money, Toyota Highlander, rough ride. Tried to buy American but the interest rates have skyrocketed. Murano SL AWD with everything except nav, have my own portable as I travel a lot and didn't need to spend the money on factory nav. Car is smooth, gets 24 to 25 mpg on highway, 80% of my driving. Put on 2000 miles in 3 weeks and everything fine so far.

After sitting in the seats of several other vehicles (since writing my first review of the Murano), including the Buick LaCrosse, Chevy Equinox, Ford Edge and Honda Crosstour, I have come to the conclusion that car seats in general are now being made much more firm than in the past. The Murano's seats are better than all of the above. The smooth, quiet ride makes driving this vehicle a pleasure. I still think the front of the seats could be set to allow them to drop closer to the floor. Daytime running-lights would be nice. Driving in stop & go traffic does not produce a very smooth transmission response, with it constantly shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive.

Best all around vehicle for the money. Plenty of power and comfort and outstanding performance on mountain roads and snow. Perfect blend between car and truck.

I did a tremendous amount of research before buying this vehicle, Edmunds, Car and Driver, Consumer Reports, etc. Even attended an auto show to compare midsize crossovers. If you are looking for a premium, two row crossover the Murano wins hands down. The interior makes you feel that you are in an Infiniti and the seats are very comfortable. Except for a little wind noise from the side mirrors the cabin is very quite. Performance wise the engine-cvt combination provides excellent power in all situations and the handling is very good for crossover. The Murano is responsive with good feedback from the road. The Murano is fun to drive.

VERY Happy.

Went to Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda and Audi. But fell in love with the Murano. Sure it is a bit expensive to run (at least compared to my previous Nissan X-Trail), but it really pays back. I'm just so happy with the quality and performance. If you don't really need a hardcore offroader, then this is an excellent pick.

I had my murano for 3 months now. It has all the bells and whistles. Traded my 2006 pilot for the Murano. I do not regret the decision. Very well build interior. Premium materials. Excellent quality. My only complain so far is the GPS features are limited while driving. Most of the features can not be access while driving. So-so fuel economy. Limited voice commands compared to the Pilot

I needed a daily driver to haul kids around occasionally and to run errands (sports car wasn't quite up for all that). I compared to Acura RDX, Toyota Rav4, Highlander, Lexus RX330, and Honda Pilot. The Murano LE came out on top for following reasons: 1) Price was reasonable. 2) Smart Key... this is awesome. 3) Bluetooth 4) Navigation is terrific 5) BAckup camera. 6) iPod connection. 7) Stereo with LE is terrific. Driving is easy, I feel in control, handling is excellent.

So far I'm really enjoying this car. I love the styling and the interior features. Also the handling is very solid given the car's crossover status...strong acceleration and very good re: road noise.

Bought the SL AWD with Premium, Leather and Moonroof package. We were looking for a crossover for 18 months. Seriously considered Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain and GMC Acadia. Settled on Murano do to performance (at the cost of fuel efficiency) and styling. We are very glad we waited for 2010 model since it is a cosmetic improvement on 2009. We are extremely happy with decision as car is a joy to drive. We have had no issues although we are still only 3000 miles into ownership.

I have had my Murano for months now and do a lot of road trips. Most road trips are about a thousand miles. I could not be happpier. This vehicle is a very smooth, comfortable and good car for my long road trips. My last 3 cars were Lexus 350s. I was a little reluctant changing to Nissan, but heard a lot about how great they were and decided to check it out. It has surpassed the Lexus in comfort, style, wheel turn, gas mileage and other features. All the family members in my family are tall and the leg room5'11' to 6'4" is just perfect. I read some reviews about car seat comfort. So all you tall people should take notice. I love the car and would lease another.

So far - a happy buyer

1700 miles in and 5 weeks of ownership. First the bad: Terrible burning/hot smell for first thousand miles - now gone. Throttle hesitation on low level initial acceleration. (Supposedly by design)Tough to see the corners of the vehicle - getting used to this - and the back up camera is a useful feature. The good - stylish, comfortable, 23mpg, more useful storage than my former RX330. Love the sunroof, the leather.

Don't be smitten by the beautiful good looks of this vehicle, because it is nice to look at. Instead concentrate on the seat comfort, because in the end that will be very important. Not only are the seats very hard but also, for short legged people like my wife and I (under 5'6"), the fact that the front of the seats (both front seats are power-seats) are not allowed to drop down far enough creates a very uncomfortable amount of pressure on the undersides of your legs. The back seats are very hard also. Like all of the newer vehicles the head rests protrude too far forward, and for those (like me) who like to lean back in their seat this creates another uncomfortable intrusion.
