We have owned this car for nearly six years and have 85000 miles on it. Even though it is a heavy vehicle and my wife does not drive with a "light" foot, the brakes are still the originals and the maintenance department at Mazda tells me that they still have about 40% life left on them. The original tires were replaced at 60,000 miles. No maintenance other than the scheduled maintenance has been conducted on this vehicle. It drives like a sports car. It is bullet-proof. It has a generous third row with easy access. It is truly a hidden gem that people overlook. I do not know how long it will last, but when it finally does end its life, I will truly miss this car.

Great car! Excellent experiences at multiple dealerships for routine services. Over time, car became noisier but may be due to tired and/or age. Tailgate lift bar recently broke but according to my research, this is common among many SUVs due to the way they are constructed.

Great Vehicle!

2010 Mazda CX-9 is comfortable, great smooth ride, about 19 to 22 mpg. We enjoy the separate temperature controls for each side in the front and separate control for the back seat. Heated seats are nice too! There are no blind spots when changing lanes. I have enjoyed driving this vehicle for the last 3 years.

A great SUV.

Purchased new, the CX 9 is a bit pricey and has garnered some criticism for its high MSRP. However, as other reviewers have said, a used CX9 is an absolute bargain. It' resale value isn't awesome, and it is likely influenced by the car's mileage - about 18 city and 20 highway. On the other hand, the positive attributes of the CX 9 cannot be ignored. A very confortable pair of front bucket seats with excellent forward visibility. Decent finishing as per the car's interior. You have to be careful not to scratch the leather seats, but this is true of any leather interior. The climate control and radio are very good, with a powerful a/c. The controls can be a pain to reach if you roll the seat backwards. The vehicle is cavernous, with miles of cargo space. The back seat is split 60/40, so you can drop one seat to accomodate a large rug or lumber from Home Depot. Then there is the motor. Mazda didn't design the motor, it's a Ford V6! It is rated at 265 or 270 HP, and they may have under-reported the output. The car hits 90 in an eyeblink on an interstate and flies up hills like a sports sedan. This notwithstanding that it is a 4,200 pound behemoth. You have to be careful braking, though. The SUV has inertia so when you roll up to a stop sign, you brake in this SUV a good car length sooner than you would in a sedan. The car is too big to slap the brakes on, so you are wise to drive around town casually. Mazda mated the outstanding Ford V6 (later iterations went into the F 150, and a 305 HP monster for the Mustang), to a mediocre drivetrain. The Aisin tranny does not shift smoothly at low speeds, though it is fine on the highway. After reading many reviews, it is my impression that the tranny needs to warm up and just doesn't accelerate/shift well at low speeds. Car and Driver has noted that the CX 9 drives very well for a big vehicle. Steering is excellent, the car tracks well, and the suspension is pretty good but not great. The car is too big to fly over speed bumps or dips in the road -so don't do it. Given the combination of awesome power, a spacious interior, excellent front seats, good steering and a decent suspension, not to mention a pretty good radio and climate control, the car is a screaming "buy."

Amazing vehicle!! Bought used w/40,000 miles. Incredible used car deal! Absolutely loaded... Handles like its on rails(for a big car). Avg. 25.6 mpg on a 3 state road trip! Tons of power, and super comfortable!!I'm a major Mazda fan... 03 MPV has 185,000 on it and still gets 26.5 mpg! Mazda zoom zoom thru & thru!! If u need a big family vehicle without needing a minivan...Go buy this car!

After owning for 16 months, the Cons, especially #1, outweigh the Pros. Cons - Passenger side air bag turns off when anyone <105ish lbs sits there. Taken it to the dealer & they say there's nothing they can do about it. This leaves my light passengers completely unprotected. Should be a recall. - Front defrost is terribly designed - doesn't span the length of the windshield & sits too far away from the base of the window. Wipers freeze over and have to be manually snapped in a snow storm. - Sub par radio reception - Hatchback too low. 6'1" husband hits head A LOT - Highway MPG = 19 at best - Terrible leather quality Pro - Excellent 4 wheel drive - Price - Super roomy

We have 17,000 miles on our 2010 CX9, 5000 of those have come in a 5000+ mile cross-country and back trip in the past five weeks. I have really liked this car since I bought it 15 months ago, now I love it! It really excels on the highway - very fun to drive, great handling, and very comfortable. I really shopped around before buying it, especially giving the Honda Pilot serious consideration, but I am SO glad I went with the Mazda.

I had my 2010 CX-9 for a year and was involved in a very hard front end collision which rolled the other vehicle over. My two young kids and I were totally unscratched, and even though the front end was destroyed, all the doors were still aligned and working perfectly! Impressive. I'm off to my dealer to order a brand new CX-9. ( white, not black this time, too lazy to keep the black clean!)

All in all this is a solid family hauler. I chose the Touring for the smaller rim size. Handling is very good for its class, but you will feel the bumps. We moved halfway across the country, so I had my wife two kids & two dogs in the car for 1800 miles / 28 hours of driving- the CX9 proved itself to a great car for the trip. I averaged about 24 MPG on that trip. In what I consider true suburban driving I would get about 18MPG. Now I live in a little town on the Jersey shore now and average about 14MGP in city style driving. Power is more than adequate for all but the true enthusiast and or speed demon.

Handles great ....firm and sure..... Yet not overly stiff. I think Mazda got it right with the CX-9 performance. Test drive of the CX-9 is a must when investigating your options. This is exactly what I was looking for, an AWD crossover that drives well. Took it to the mountains on ski trip …. Handles the snow very well including some side roads that were pretty steep. The 3rd row seat comes in handy and has decent amount of room. I am happy with this purchase.

I like my CX-9. Except for two things. No fog lights on any models below the GT. I don't like the Zenon headlights and those low profile, 20 inch rims are bad news. So I have an expensive vechicle the doesn't even come with fog lights. Second major problem is Mazda's choice of Bridgestone Dueler tires. They are NOT all season radials. I drove on an inch of snow and the car couldn't hold the road! So I have a AWD car that is dangerous in the snow!

The CX9 is a great crossover. I like the V6 pick up, I like the design, I'm ok with the gas mileage (could be better), but overall this is a very good SUV. I'm unhappy with my dealer...and that doesn't take away from the car. Do not deal with Mazda in Lodi New Jersey out on Route 46. Salesman told me it had satellite radio...little did I know it wasn't in it, just satellite ready. So after shelling out 30K now I have to buy a radio...not kosher. They did not care one bit. So the guy lies to me and that's OK. Get yourself this SUV, just not from Mazda in Lodi.

Most reviews have captured what I have to say. It such a pleasure to drive! Really sporty for such a big vehicle. I just love this car. Mileage could be better but it is not too terrible compared to others in this class. Quality of construction of certain interior components could be slightly better (compared to luxury vehicles). Overall, I love this car.

We bought this car after testing several others like the Highlander and Traverse. The former lacks cargo space behind the third row and this third row is intended for children or small adults only. The later has its seats on the second and third rows too close to the floor that it makes it uncomfortable for long trips. We cannot be more pleased with our choice, its riding and performance are awesome, feels solid and its interior and exterior satisfy our taste. We've got so far 23 mpg, mainly on highways.

I bought a 2009 Touring and kept it 18 months. Decided to move up to a Grand Touring in 2010. Wife wanted the power tail gate and we both wanted the back up camera and in dash GPS. This baby is loaded, the only thing missing is the moon roof which we didn't want anyway. Got a smoking deal. Upgraded a year also went from Touring to Gran Touring loaded for $8,000 tax, license incl. One real disappointment. The GPS system is very weak. Will not pull up POI's close to my house. Major chain stores we all know and have been in business several years do not show up. Also took a short trip last weekend and twice was told "could not provide guidance". This was on state hwys. WEAK real weak.

I did tons of research on crossovers and the CX9 blew away the competition. We test drove the Traverse, Flex, Subaru Tribeca & Pilot. The CX9 handles like a dream, it doesn't feel like a big SUV at all. The safety ratings are great, which we experienced firsthand- we were rear- ended within the first month. The triple-H construction lived up to its design, the other car was totaled, ours fared much better. The CX9 has the lowest percent chance of rollover among its competitors, even better than the Subaru. Dash controls are intuitive, heat & A/C work great. Lots of room for kids or adults in 2nd & 3rd rows. Seat folding is easy (the Ford and Chevy were both more difficult). Test drive one!

Great bang for your buck

We purchased our Mazda CX9 after owning a Chevy Tahoe. We have all the bells and whistles on this car, and could not believe what we have for the price. We have had a few problems though. One being the air conditioning. When turning off the car, the air would turn on. We did have that fixed to just happen again. When making turns the car seems to be making sounds, not sure what that is, and need to have that checked. GAs mileage really needs to be improved. It seems like I am filling up that car all the time! Overall I am happy, but not sure I would buy one again considering the poor gas mileage.

I just picked up my Crystal White Pearl Mica GT last night. I LOVE this vehicle! My last two rides were H3's, which cost the same if not more then this beauty. I now realize how much I overpaid for my H3's after seeing all you get for your money with Mazda! I can't think of anything else I would want in a vehicle. It gets great gas mileage for the size (avg. 20 mixed), seats 7 when needed, the exterior and interior remind me of a Lexus, love the 20 inch wheels, rides like it is on glass - and all for way under $40k!

This vehicle will fool ya. Its competent on the road, and I can get about 25.7 on cruise at 70-72 mph. I was surprised by that. I stand about 6'6" and have plenty of room, both head and leg. The tri-zone AC is one of the great features, and it works well. One area that impressed me was the TPM system. I picked up a nail through the sidewall, of course, and the system told me I had a problem very quickly. I am the principal driver (hers is a Prius) and our fleet average on the highway is about 37.5. She wanted me to get the Lexus, but it's too tight for a tall driver, and I saved a lot of cash. I look forward to driving this CX at every opportunity.

I bought the CX-9 GT to replace our 9 year old Odyssey. This time I bought a loaded vehicle (only 2WD though) and am glad I did. Previous reviews are spot on. Performance is good for a vehicle of this type. Interior fit and finish also very good. I looked long and hard at the Chevy Traverse (nice but too expensive), Ford Edge (no 3rd row seat) and the Subaru Tribeca (cheap looking interior and just didn't feel right). MDX was wonderful but couldn't justify the extra $8-$10k more. Sticker was $38,315 and I put $0 down and $630/mo for 60 months @ 0% interest.

We bought this vehicle to replace a 10 year old Ford Expedition. We test drove a Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Chevy Traverse. The Mazda CX-9 wasn't even on my radar screen but my husband suggested we take a look. It has the look and feel of a luxury vehicle. We were very impressed with the smooth ride, handling, and spaciousness. The inside is much more roomy than the outside would lead you to believe. We purchased the Grand Touring model with all the bells and whistles and still came in well under $40,000.Getting the same features on the Chevy Traverse would have cost us almost another $5,000. Thus far we have been very happy with this purchase.

Most of these reviews are glowing so I'll just list the faults. Brushed faux aluminum on the inside of the door scratches easily and looks terrible. Plastic coating on the floor runners that the rear seats slide forward/backward on scratch, peel and flake after a few months and look terrible (although still function fine). Getting to the fade function on the stereo is way too difficult (requires 3 different button pushes to change, not intuitive either). Also we have water entering into the passenger floor area beneath the dash when cornering to the left. After some online research this appears to be due to a clogged sunroof and evaporator line from the AC. Pending resolution...

Replaced an '05 Trailblazer. CX-9 is far superior in quality, style and fun factor. Much quieter and better fuel economy than the blazer 6 cyl. The leather seats, and orange dash glow was very easy to read and attractive. Very quiet and great handling on the road. Acceleration was powerful and smooth. No jerky downshifting when trying to merge. Bose sound is a premium. Bluetooth is a must in today's 'connected' environment. This is my first new Mazda and I look forward to a great driving and ownership experience. We got the 2010 Touring FWD. I also did aggressive braking and acceleration and was very impressed. A 'Zoom-Zoom' 4 sure. Beat the Traverse, Edge, Sorento easily!

We looked at Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Acura MDX & Mazda CX-9 when it seemed that our next car should be a family car. Loved my Acura 3.2 TL Sedan but Acura MDX was priced out. Highlander and CX-9 were the finalists and CX-9 won in aesthetics and functionality. Based on reviews, we didn't get the Navigation & wanted to avoid the 20" wheels of the Grand Touring, so got a Touring. Leather is OK. Would like better in-dash NAV since the Garmin 1350T we bought is nowhere close to the Acura NAV we had 10 years ago! Our dealership seems to have a deal with ADS(?) who will install a better NAV (Kentwood) with warranty. $1600/$1900. Yet to try. Paid $30,200.00 with 60 month no interest.

After 8 months: best combination of driving experience, braking, interior space & comfort, technology and safety amongst Highlander, 4Runner, Pilot, Sante Fe,Outback, Tribeca, Vera Cruz & other Asian SUV/CUV's w/ AWD evaluated (Asian quality/value bias after owning 20+ domestic, Euro & lately Asian vehicles). A nearly perfect family of 5 transport design w/ generous 2nd row and a 3rd row even adults could fit into in a pinch - and still have some cargo room. Not there isn't decent competition, but the steering, decent acceleration & AWD, excellent brakes and low road noise compared to even pricier CUVs are impressive. Drive of the CX-9 to others considered or you will be short changed.

This is our 5th vehicle purchase. We owned Toyotas ever since but the recent recalls made me think about their quality and reliability. I've always been curious about CX9 but never had the chance to test drive one. Once I drove it, instantly fell in love! The quality is above average. Interior is beautiful so as the exterior. Very quiet on the road. Handling is great. A lot of space even with the 3rd row up. Became a Mazda fan immediately. Thinking to trade in my Corolla for a Mazda 3!

We have been driving minivans for about 20 years raising the kids. The kids are grown, but we still need occasional room to haul cargo and up to six passengers comfortably. The cx-9 is a blast to drive. Great Bose stereo system. Solid handling. Many nice features. We bought the awd as we do like to go to the mountains and make long trips in the winters. 95% of the time the fwd would be fine. The difference in fuel economy was minimal, so we decided on the awd.

CX-9 is a very good SUV.

I own a cx-9 and every time i go to my garage, i say "wow, i made a good choice." The cx-9 is affordable but looks luxurious and costly. Compare it with suvs like the Acura mdx and the Toyota highlander and i would say Mazda came up with a competitive car.

Purchased new CX9 AWD GT a couple weeks ago. Replaced 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer that was wrecked and totaled. Looked at Toyota Venza & Highlander, Honda Pilot, Acura MDX and Chevy Traverse. In comparing features, style, size, towing, performance and price, the CX9 was an easy choice. 0% for 60 mo. was the deal clincher. Leaps and bounds ahead of the TB. Wife drives it regularly and loves it - very important. Only disappointment is mileage, but expected this based on research done. Have owned Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota and Honda as daily drivers - so far very happy with the Mazda - hope it stays that way.

We love the smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride. AC, seats, quality, blind spot monitoring, stereo, all great. Test drove Highlander, Venza, Pilot, Veracruz, Santa Faye, Cross Tour (Honda) (our second choice), Kia Sorento, & Murano and this was the BEST by far. Just got back from a 1500 mile trip. Got about 21 MPG. Love the ride, quietness, memory seats, key less entry and start and all the other features.

A few areas have made us not pleased with our choice. Gas mileage is much less than advertised. The car is too heavy - sluggish when passing on highway or going up hill, poor gas mileage. There is a design flaw with the doors. They are big, unnecessarily heavy, and balanced wrong. When parked level, they will naturally fall hard to a full open position. As the doors are so big, they will catch any wind and open hard. The check strap on the door is under-engineered for such a heavy door. Within 45 days, the check strap broke, the door slammed back into car body. $1500 damage and Mazda will not even return phone calls or acknowledge issue. Not happy with the CX9 or Mazda, give both a pass.

Bluetooth, moonroof, Sirius, blind spot monitoring, 20 inch wheels, heated leather seats, innovative styling, beautiful gauges, back up camera, auto. rear hatch, auto dimming mirrors, tire pressure monitoring, 0% financing and more. Best of all it is fun to drive and has good cargo capacity and can be made better by adding more driver storage bins or compartments. Gas mileage can be better but I average 21.5 city/hwy. combined. Driven 7000+ miles w/o any issues. I recommend this over Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse, Kia and Hyundai. Indeed a Great buy!

I went into the process with about six SUVs in mind (Q7, X5, Highlander, Enclave, FX35, and the CX-9). I was pretty smitten with the Q7. But Mazda makes it pretty tough because they are just such an exceptional value. I liked the Q7 better, but not $25K better. I test drove the X5 twice. I know it's heresy, but I think the CX-9 is a better vehicle. I liked all of the cars I drove pretty well, but Mazda gives you a luxury SUV, top of the line model, outstanding performance and reliability at a great price point. Styling is a personal thing, but behind the Q7 I thought it was the best looking of the bunch.

Absolutely love the car. We've had it for two weeks. I've already used it once for a long trip. Our kids love the 3rd row. We started out wanting to get the GMC Acadia, but the GMC dealer didn't want to work with us at all. We decided to go to the Mazda dealership the next day, and had no problems. I'm really glad we decided to go with the CX9. It has so much space and it is fun to drive.

All in all we enjoy the car. Great acceleration and handling, plenty of passenger room, beautiful styling. I would recommend to friends and family. For a vehicle this size it's astounding we haven't had to change the brakes yet, and we're at 60,000 miles. Two odd issues: The mounting pads for the engine already are worn, which creates a nasty clinking sound when the car is put into gear; and the circuits go bad, meaning I'll turn off the car and the fan will suddenly go full blast - I have to turn the car on and off a couple of times to make that stop. But these are relatively minor fixes (I've been too lazy) because overall the car has been wonderful for us.

I'm going to sum it up for those considering a purchase. If you want to spend $45-50k on a vehicle for name's sake, the you should purchase a Lexus, Infiniti, MB or Acura. They are great SUV/CUV choices from these brands. If you want the quality, amenities and sportiness of vehicles offered from these brands, but are in the $25-40k range as far as budget is concerned, then the CX-9 tops all others. We came from a Cayenne off lease and can believe how much value is packed into the CX-9. Don't even think about the Honda, Toyota, Chevy or Ford offerings at the same price (drove and priced them all). There is no comparison in regards to dollar for dollar value.

Just purchased a 2010 CX-9 AWD GT, and the car looks great and drives well. I am not too much of a fan of the driver's seating position, but I am comfortable in it and it sure drives not like a SUV. However I am disappointed of the sound system (BOSE) that do not "sound" very well at all. I don't know if there is a problem with it, but the sound from the front side speakers is muffled and sounds distorted. I may to bring this car back to check on them (anyone have the same problem?). also, I thought that there was 6CD capability with the Bose system, but it looks you can just load on CD at the time (is this right?). we will have to drive a little more for more driving experience review

I test drove the 2010 CX-9, Highlander, Acadia and Flex. Key requirement was 3rd row of seats and fun to drive. After driving and researching all it came down to the Highlander and CX-9. Mazda CX-9 won on these items: - 3rd row is split. - More room behind 3rd row. Highlander barely had room for a row of groceries. - Access to 3rd row was WAY easier for the munchkins and adults than the Higlander. - Cx-9 is was more fun to drive. I liked the Highlander, but the Mazda has way more performance. Engine is smooth and shifts almost stealth. - Fit and finish is solid. Very nice looking car.

We looked pretty seriously at the Acadia and the Traverse, which were both nice, but this is much more fun to drive. Also got it for $8,000 less then the equal product in the Acadia. When I wen to the dealer, I drove the base model and ordered a touring. I thought that I might be a bit let down not getting the Acadia, but now I have no regrets. It's awesome... got to go for another road trip!

I test drove all the others in the segment and there is no comparison. The CX-9 handles like a car 1/2 its size. It has brisk acceleration, corners well and has excellent brakes with no fade. It has good space, but for those looking for all the bins to put stuff in (like the Pilot or Acadia), you need to look elsewhere. The AWD system is seamless and we have received many great complements. Thank goodness Mazda made this vehicle- I can finally have fun driving my two (soon to be three) kids around town. I owned a 2007 Pilot and the CX-9 beats that in every facet hands-down.

Wow, I am so happy with this vehicle. The bluetooth is awesome, and it was standard! I would have had to get the $40K Pilot to get it with a Honda, and it is not even available on the SE version of the Highlander. My last car was a CTS and this handles better around turns (less body roll, really). Better rollover numbers than ANY crossover even better than the low riding Flex - check out the stats yourself at the government website safercar.gov. The space behind the second row is enormous, again much longer than the Pilot. The interior is really nice at night with window switches light up with LED's - a really nice touch (great job Mazda). My first Mazda but I am very impressed.

Not much to say other than if you're looking for a solid crossover with 3rd row seating, buy this vehicle! We have had the Grand Touring AWD for 4 months now, and absolutely love it. This is my 4th Mazda and I would put them up against Nissan and Toyota (before their recent woes) for overall quality/value. We replaced a Ford Eddie Bauer 4x4 Explorer and the comfort/ride of the CX-9 is superior, from the roomy cabin to the smooth transmission and solid quality feel of interior accessories.

Coming from a loaded 2005 Murano XE one thing I could not do without (key fob). This narrowed my search considerably. Needed the extra room and wanted a vehicle that looked slick like the Murano. Interior is awesome as well as the exterior. Front grill bugs some but not me. Love the led brake lights and the rear view camera is okay but could be a bit more detailed. The Navigation system is okay but coming from a hand held garmin it seems a bit clunky and non user friendly. The seats are not as comfortable as the Murano and the ride is on par since I came from the SE and not the SL. They should have went with Yokohama Pradas instead of duelers. So far I've been very happy!

Bought the CX-9 after extensive research. Looked at the Honda Pilot & CR-V, Ford Flex, and a few others. It came down to the Pilot & CX-9. The Mazda has more power, better interior/exterior, better brakes, and seems to ride better. We traded a Honda Odyssey for it & it is our first Mazda product. Vehicle is black & looks absolutely sweet after its been washed. Couldn't be happier w/the purchase. Capital Mazda of Cary gave us a great price. It is loaded (back-up camera, Bose system, auto rear hatch). Took it home for under 30K. And gave us exactly what we wanted in trade for Odyssey + threw in some extras. Very happy we went /the CX-9!

Although I think Mazda could have dressed up the interior with more chrome pieces, I still like the way it looks, I feel that the CX-9 is more ergonomic than other crossovers. We looked at GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse, Honda Crosstour, Hyundai SantaFe and Toyota Venza and none appealed to us as much as the CX-9. I definatelly recommend it.

It has every advantage of a Mini-van combined with the feel and drive of a sports car wrapped up in a beautiful SUV body. And the best part is that you don’t have to sell a kidney to get one. I spent the better part of 5 months researching and test driving every 6 cylinder cross over SUV with a third row. I narrowed my search to CX-9, Acadia, Pilot and MDX. Having owned a 2003 Tahoe I really wanted a car-like driving experience without sacrificing too much size. I'm 6'4" so I need the room. The verdict: The Acadia drove like my Tahoe, large and lumbering. It definitely has the size but the driving experience wasn't there. The Pilot drove nicely but it's exterior styling and small 3rd row weren't what I was looking for. The MDX was very nice both to drive and in features but the price for equal features was in BMW/Audi territory. The CX9 hit the mark both inside and out.

Needed to downsize from a 2007 Chevy Tahoe but still needed third row option. I loved my Tahoe! But did not love the $604 monthly payment! We compared the CX9 to the Pilot and the Acadia. The CX9 Sport had soo many more bells and whistles for a base model! It was a NO BRAINER for us! Bluetooth, roofrack, seat warmers, satellite radio, dual zone heating/cooling, nice dashboard finish, power seats and drives beautifully! The first night I had the CX9 7 of us piled in for my birthday! We all fit comfortably!

I've had my 2010 Grand Touring CX-9 since Dec 2009. This vehicle is definitely fun and comfortable. I live in the country and take the back roads at more than optimum speeds and the vehicle handles great. I've owned a Subaru with AWD and that was a bit better on the handling. Drive 110 miles each day and my back loves the comfortable seats. I've used the heated seats with no problems but I'll refrain until they are fixed. Few economy is great. I get 21.9. Not bad for cruising down the road.

Bought the CX-9 to replace an Acura MDX. It's a great value, thousands less than an MDX or even a Chevy Traverse with leather. It drives beautifully and the interior looks great with French-stitched leather and contrasting accents. It's every bit as roomy, luxurious and comfortable as the MDX, and looks a lot better than the current MDX, or just about any other SUV.

Bought this truck for the family. We just got belted with almost 2 feet of snow. Truck handled it like a champ. Wife loves room. Had deposit on Highlander but went to see the CX9 and had to have it. Highlander is smaller, not enough storage space, 3 row entrance from only 1 side, middle seat in 2 row is small. CX9 drives great and stable. Kids actually want to sit in 3 row. Amazing the 3 row is split fold down.

Have had almost every SUV made in the last 30 years, and I can say without question, that this is the best value for the buck of any that I have owned.. Came from a H3 Hummer, which cost me almost 45k, to this, which is a fully loaded GTAWD for 36k; BLOWS AWAY the competition, and, even though I didnt need a 7 passenger SUV, the cost vs. value for this guy was impossible to resist...Compared to a Pilot, Santa Fe, Ford Edge, and a few others, there is NO COMPARISON! Just flat out fun to drive, and solid and stable as any car or SUV I have ever owned..and , even my wife LOVES it, and she hates most SUV's...

Just purchased CX-9 Touring with moonroof, bose sound system and power liftgate for around $32,000. I've been test driving and looking at new cars for over a month. I work out of my car so I needed power plugs for my laptop and GPS. I also needed a car that I could be in for over 8 hours and drive over some gravel roads and rough terrain. The CX- 9 had everything I needed and it cost less then all the other cars I looked at. I really liked the Highlander, Acadia, MDX and Enclave but after doing all the research I kept going back to the CX- 9. I'm really enjoying the Sirius radio. The bluetooth I'm still learning but it seems to have difficulty locating my phone every time I try to use it.

Average interior. The plastics inside feel cheap. Seats are not comfortable. Lacks power going uphill. Rough ride, you feel every tine ridge on the road. The sheet metal body has light tin feeling. Definitely not worth almost 40 k sticker. The passenger seat heated up while the car was parked due to electrical malfunction and created a fire hazard. The heated seats had to be disconnected to stop the battery from draining. Dealer does not have a fix. I think this being reported by many owners. No word of any recall from Mazda. They are probably waiting till there are reports of spontaneous combustion of few front seat occupants to occur before doing something about it.

I purchased this vehicle less than a week ago. Have driven 250 miles on it already. So far, the drive quality is outstanding. Freeway noise minimum, good gear shifting (auto transmission), great power when taking off on a green light, good passing experience on a two lane road, comfortable seats, bluetooth works great, navigation locks out at > 5 mph but allows you to change pre-set destinations (so make sure you enter things ahead; if you want to change locations to a brand new address - sorry! I guess a safety issue); I have argued that passengers could enter a new address but then how do you prevent a driver from doing it when he/she drives alone? DVD sys

Our CX9 Grand Touring just replaced an MB R350. Pros for the CX9 - Value for $, Handling, Power, Nav, Really Great Sound System, Handier Seats / Utility, Power Liftgate sounds like it will work, Regular Gas, Style, Interior Fit & Finish / Style. Cons - Gas Cost really isn't - CX9 is 10% less gas mileage, but uses Regular!! Seats other than driver's seat are a little less solid. Driver's seat is better than R, especially for medium height drivers. If you need something midsized and flexible and miss CX9 you are missing a great choice - we tested a lot. Most amazing feature - the car got looks from people in LA - must be the new colors and big wheels!

Love the car. Definitely best in class. Then the problems started. Heated seats stay on and won't go off until the battery dies. Mazda has no solution. Can't get the same answer from the dealer and Mazda corporate. Depending on you you listen to - it's a faulty design - and Mazda is working on a solution. My issue is that this problem has been around since October. Why did Mazda knowingly sell me a car with features that they knew did not work? If you expect the manufacturer to be there to support you when you have problems - this is not the car for you!

I bought my CX9 to replace a 2008 Saturn Outlook. So far the car has impressed me except for the electric seat heaters,While driving my wife's seat became very hot and wouldn't shut off,I had to pull the fuse,I brought the car to the dealer which rpt the underneath of the seat was scorched and they took pictures to send to Mazda and Mazda rpts they have no fix for the problem. So now I have a new car without the electric seats I ordered until Mazda fix's the problem. It could have been worse,I guess the seats could have caught on fire and someone could have been hurt. So maybe you might want to wait on buying one until Mazda address's the problem.

Took delivery of our new CX9 Grand Touring yesterday and have no regrets whatsoever. The CX9 was "hands down" the best vehicle in the class. We looked at Acura, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan and VW and none of them compare to the CX9 in terms of features, styling, comfort and performance. Out purchasing experience was good. Pricing was a little high, but we opted for the top of line Grand Touring. You will not get the deal of the century on this vehicle due to demand and popularity, but you should walk out with a fair deal. Our dealer offer a couple of lease options if the monthly payment estimate scares you. We do wish Mazda offered a longer basic warranty.

We looked at tons of crossovers & suvs in this price range - and for the money it doesn't get ANY better than this car. I almost went with the more expensive GMC Acadia but after driving this - the GMC felt like a tinker toy in comparison! This is a very well made, well appointed and stylish car. I am pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage. This is basically a luxury crossover for about $15k less than the volvo, lexus or cadillac counterparts. My husband and I are starting a family this year and he calls this my "sexy mom car" =)

Well this is my first SUV. I have driven full sized Taho's and what nots and they are comfortable but the gas mileage always kept me away. This CX9 is very snazzy. It feels fancier than you would expect. There is lots of room and it is comfortable. Plenty of power and a lot of cool gadgets. Im very pleased with it. Its fun to drive and you don't see many on the road. The bad things include: Of course the gas mileage we average 17.5 but have gotten as low as 15.5 which doesn't sound that bad till you need to fill up again after 300mi. The nav is beautiful but kinda stinks. You cant make adjustments on the fly we usually just use the iphone. The heated seats you can barely feel but we still love it

I have 20" wheels on mine. It is not 'smooth' as some people like. but it is so cool, it offset the bottom dis-comfort. fuel economy is not great but ok considering the size of the engine and the zoom you get when pushing down the paddle. 24 GPM on a 12 hour flat land highway trip at 75 MPH cruise control. GM and Buick (Encore & Traverse) are asking few thousand $ more for a compatibly equipped vehicle. Traverse and Arcadia interior is all cheap plastics. I though I will qualify for some 'bail out' discount.not.Can't see a reason to 1st pay GM to build cars and 2nd buy cars with higher price. not all at lost, Mazda is a partner of Ford which is still an AMERICAN company. so I was told.

The Mazda Cx9 is a great SUV with plenty of room in the cabin, the large amount of leg room in the middle row amazed my family. The ride is smooth and quiet but like a German car it keeps you in full control with the awareness on what kind of terrain you are in. It seems as Mazda copied other car companies (in a good way) The Navigation is like Acura, the seats like Lexus, the controls like GM, and the overall ride like a BMW. The SUV is simple to use with good controls that even an older generation can get used to. The down side is that the lights in the third and second row are single ones in the middle, it would have been nice to been personal ones. Other than that it's a great buy.

Had to do my research and I'm glad I did! The CX-9 is by far the best value for your $. Bought the GT w/Bose/Moonroof & Power Liftgate pkg. At first i thought i didn't need a power liftgate. Boy was i wrong. It's a must especially with a baby. I also own a Lexus ES300 and i didn't think i would find a more comfortable ride..until now. The CX-9 is all i had hoped for & more. Personally, the CX-9 destroyed the Highlander(3rd row impostor),Pilot, Murano. Skeptics out there looking for a roomy, styling, SUV check out the Mazda CX-9. You'll see and feel the difference. Lastly-Mazda is not owned by Ford. Fords stake in Mazda is 13% & every CX-9 comes from Japan.

Great performance, excellent Cargo space, comfort is awesome either at the front row and second row, dashboard is very nice and neat, bluetooth is also another great feature and extremely easy to setup. Mazda should add to their Basic package the Cargo Cover and Cargo Mat. We purchased the Sport Model and added the after market leather. Great Choice, way much better material the factory installed, cheaper. You will not go wrong when considering the purchase of this vehicle.

I've had the gt cx9 for a month now. I absolutely love it! I was worried it wouldn't be as smooth as my Lexus Rx, but I don't even notice the difference! I considered the Acura mdx, the Buick Enclave, and the Highlander. This was definitely the best choice! I love the keyless entry, the third row, the sirius radio, the ipod connection (sounds awesome with Bose speakers), and the navigation! I feel like I got a pair of Jimmy Choos for half off! I do wish the doors automatically locked after shifting to drive, and that the cargo cover was available for power liftgate doors (got used to both with my lexus). Great car all around, I don't miss the Lexus one bit!

I love this vehicle! It's sporty, roomy and handles incredibly well on slick streets. I drove it on a rain- soaked highway at 70 MPH, and the CX9 was completely sure footed. My previous cars have been a Ford Mustang, a Suburu Impreza, an Infiniti G35, and a Honda mini-van...and the CX- 9 combines all the best attributes from those cars. It is really, really fun to drive...is a very high quality build...and all the kids and their stuff fit inside. The only downside is the poor gas mileage. I do a combination of highway and surface street driving, and I'm only getting 15 MPG.

Our second Mazda product and no disappointments. We shopped for weeks and considered all similar vehicles from $25,000 to $40,000+. Nothing compared for dollar value. This CX-9 set the standard for everything else. We could not find any reason to buy Lexus, Acura etc. Nothing is perfect but we have yet to find any faults which is a great experience, especially considering the selling price compared to others. Yes it would be nice to have better mileage but ride, comfort and build quality are first class.

Cargo space is roomy with the 3rd row down more room that an Acura MDX, ML 350 or BMW X5. The 20's wheels makes the ride a little bumpy the 18's ride smoother.

A like vehicle from Acura or Lexus would be $15k more! Fit and finish is exceptional. I am tall - 6'2"- as is my wife at 5'8" so we figure the kids will be big, so I sat in the 2nd and 3rd rows...plenty of room in the 2nd row, and even in the 3rd though head room was shorter...but I could see my self in any seat in the vehicle for a 2-3 hour trip with no problem! Had it two weeks. Thrill to drive. You name it, we considered it. Bottom line was MDX, Traverse, and CX-9. MDX offered really no extra value for the money and the 2nd row didn't allow rear entry on both sides! MDX 3rd row terrible. Easy on the CX-9. The Traverse was just too long for our garage. It's half a foot longer than a minivan. For our family, this was the best value and ride. We got every feature and were treated well. No regrets. We were surprised how much we liked CX-9. Always presumed we'd buy an MDX (actually disappointed it wasn't as good as we'd expected).

Fully loaded Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring. We agonized over which family SUV we would buy. Looked at Toyota Highlander, 4Runner, Acura MDX, Lexus RX350/400, BMW X3, Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot, Volvo XC60/90, and a few others. If buying a car is a multi- variable decision (price, comfort, quality, reliability, luxury / convenience options, aesthetics), you absolutely have to check out the CX-9. Mazda has built the best car for your money, bar none, in the family SUV with 3 row class. It's a hidden gem. You will pay $5-10k more easily for a comparably equipped Toyota / Lexus, Honda / Acura. It's a great fit for anyone who wants a big car for the family but not as big as a Suburban.

I traded my Mercedes R350 on a new Mazda CX9 Sport; what a value! Even the base level is well optioned, including heated seats. I added leather as a dealer installed option which was well worth it because the quality is much higher than the factory hides and it is less expensive that upgrading to the Touring model. My Mazda rides and drives like a dream and the styling is awesome. The cargo room with the seats folded down is enough for furniture and unlike my Mercedes you don't have to remove the headrests to put the seats down. If you are in the market for a 7 passenger, AWD vehicle, this is the one!

I downsized from a 2003 Suburban and was concerned about giving up 8 passenger seating so I was glad to find the CX-9. The third row is difficult to get little ones in and out that need adult help in getting fastened, I would not want this to be an every day thing, but I am a grandparent, so when needed it will work. The built in dvd system was a hit on day 1. I have had it not quite a month, and so far I am very pleased with it. Gas mileage is not great, however I knew that going in. It has great power which was important in going from my V8 Suburban, I haven't gotten myself into trouble yet. Its very comfortable, seats are great. No issues yet, overall very pleased.

TOTALLY AWESOME SUV

Traded in a minivan last Halloween, and i really made the right decision. I own a CR-V and a Toyota and i can really tell the difference in driving, comfort and the responsiveness of the vehicle. I got the BOSE-Moonroof Pack and the sound is amazing. Driver's cockpit is classy. Transmission is smooth, manumatic shift is a plus. Bluetooth and voice command recognition is nice and standard. The interior fit and finish is at it's finest, such a handsome look outside but still looks good even when carrying the whole family. This is trully a ZOOM-ZOOM vehicle from Mazda,so fun to drive. Can't wait to drive to Florida w/ the family on Thanksgiving!

Awesome inside and out

Just picked -up the vehicle from the dealership.Traded in our sienna minivan, came out to be one of my best decisions.Tried going to pilot but cant stand the boxy look, the nose looks like a bulldog.Highlander is ok but on the small side. I love how the cx-9 looks from inside and out. Very comfortable ride, very smooth transmission. Manumatic shift is great, makes it more sporty feel.20" is awesome adds on the vehicle's handsome look,BSM is great too.Interior finish and cockpit looks classy. Definitely this mazda is a keeper.

Waited for the 2010 to arrive before I pulled the trigger. Was considering the MDX and others. Test drove many. I went the CX-9 because it is the best value. My wife and I both felt the MDX had no luxury value over the MDX. The new CX-9 is really nice! It handles it beyond expectations and has awesome features. I am 6'3" and this car was is very comfortable. Adding both the IPOD Module and Overhead DVD.

Impressive

We test drove the MDX, Enclave, Traverse, Pilot, and Highlander. None compared to the CX-9 for price, power, interior quality, fit and finish. We went with Grand Touring with assist package includes Nav , Back up camera, The Blind spot radar is very cool. MSRP little over 39k. We leased with min drive off $1200 for $550 a month 42 months. That was $200.00 less than any of the vehicles I mentioned above. I also like the fact that this is truly a Japanese Car. Engine, Trans, and assembled in Japan. Oh and news flash there are not any US car companies any more. They have been Multi National for a long long time. Yes I know mazda is owned by ford..

Mazda CX9 is ZOOM ZOOM GOOD

I love the way this SUV drives. The keyless entry is the ticket! Now I know why Motor trend named it "SUV of the Year" I have been in for Service at Schwartz Mazda and they even gave me a massage while I was waiting.
