EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:SWITCHES:BRAKE LIGHT

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Accent, model year 2007-2011 Azera, Sonata and Sante Fe,2006-2011 Tucson, 2009-2011 Elantra Touring, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2011 Veracruz, 2009-2011 Genesis, 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, 2007-2008 Entourage, and 2006-2008 Tiburon vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 Accent and Tucson, model year 2007-2010 Elantra, model year 2007-2011 Santa Fe, model year 2008-2009 Veracruz, model year 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, and model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. In September 2013, Hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.

Over the past couple of years I've noticed little chips in the paint on the hood. Originally thought they were from rocks, but today found a larger chip of paint missing from over the windshield. The car has been sitting in the driveway for 3 days and it wasn't missing last weekend when I washed the car. As coincidence would have it, I saw another Santa Fe the same color yesterday missing quite a lot of paint over the windshield. Obviously there is a paint problem with this color.

2010 Sante Fe GLS 2.4L Blue W/Tint Alloy Wheels -- Really enjoy this vehicle. Bought it 3 years ago, used with 36k and in great condition. It hasn't given me a single problem mechanically (I do regular maintenance to be proactive) and has started every single time during these past 3 years no matter the weather. I have recently moved to the country to our farm and it gets used more as a truck these days; pulling, hauling, and carrying two great danes around. It tows a 15ft trailer with 2 ATV's and does it with ease. I would recommend this SUV and the newer models to anyone looking for a "close to luxury on a budget" kind of SUV. If I really didn't need a REAL truck, I would most definitely buy another Santa Fe in the future. **my one complaint** to spite having premium audio, the bass is a little lacking. I like my butt to vibrate. (no pun intended)

I am into my 3rd transmission for a car that is 4 years old and 30,000 miles. Dealer cannot explain why my car keeps destroying the transmissions. But when engaging my car into gear there is a delay and then bangs into gear. I am totally disgusted and am getting rid of this car. I will never recommend this car to anyone.

Our vehicle is going on 4 yrs, with numerous recalls (and some others issues mentioned). But, the real problem is when you have to deal with a dealer. Our vehicle suddenly has paint bubbling up everywhere from a poor factory paint job. I've never seen a problem like this with any other vehicle we've owned. The dealer was very unhelpful (I'm sure ours isn't the only vehicle with this problem). He downright just didn't want to deal with us. When I emailed Hyundai and told them I was disappointed in their dealer attitude and build quality, their response was a legalistic you're out of warranty response. Never will buy another Hyundai after this.

Mine is a Limited, FWD. Bought in June of 2010. Just turned 37,000 miles. Runs great. Nice power and handling. 20-22 mpg combined winter and summer--all right for v-6 w 276hp. Has been completely reliable thus far with absolutely no mechanical issues at all! The only complaints I have are the road noise at highway speeds and its sensitivity in acceleration from a standstill, it wants to jump right out there...not much room for finesse. If you need to floor it to pass or maneuver, it takes a noticeable lapse of time where it does nothing ( like a turbo hesitating before it kicks in) and then it snaps to and takes off. Aside from these things, it's been a great vehicle.

My car has now been in the shop for 44 days and have not had a call from the dealership for a week. purchased the car from West End Hyundai in Edmonton On Oct 20, 2010 and have had nothing but problems since. drove the Coquahalla in severe weather conditions only to find there was no wrench to change the tires if we had a flat.. contacted the dealership but never got a reply.. then the troubles really started, the window would not go down, the truck would not open, car would not go into gear, no reverse, took the car to service centre for the 5th time. More tests. They said 1O Days to have part come from Korea BY BOAT! now 44 days later no car, no loaner, huge disappointment!!

Always loved the look of the the Santa Fe so when the time came to purchase a new car it was at the top of my list. The added bonus of a top safety rating and comfortable interior sealed the deal. Two years later, after intermittent shifting issues that "could not be replicated" by my dealer, I now have a beautiful car that only moves forward reliably when in neutral — attached to the back of tow truck. Hoping that it's current failure to move at all when in "drive" makes the situation a little easier for the dealership to figure out. Might be worth taking a peak at the transmission this time (?) So far, the only bright side is that I've never had any issues when driving in reverse ;)

A very good dependable vehicle with a couple issues. The ride is nice. Handling is very good. The 3.5 V6 has plenty of power and speed. Fuel mileage is good too. It doesn't feel or look cheap. I have been in comparable Lexus and it is just as nice. Why pay double the price just to drive a Lexus?? It is comfortable except it needs a little more leg room in the drivers area. I feel too close to the pedals. Other cons may be freeway noise at high speeds. The one major flaw is the odor from the A/C that many owners seem to have. Hyundai needs to step up and fix this.

This is a medium term follow up. I have owned this unit about 6 months with about 5k miles on it. Simply put, I went in with low expectations but it is growing on me. I had the issues with the transmission like many. Three trips to the dealer (flash upgrades and a fluid refill due to a dealer mistake) followed by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds (computer reset) finally sorted it out. Now the vehicle drives smoothly with only an occasional missed shift. Mediocre MPG (about 16 to 18 city). All around, though, for the price (purchased at wholesale) it is hard to beat.

In the first 2k we experienced a thump almost all the time the vehicle was started in park. Dealer said it was a sticky valve and they replaced the transmission. The problem has started again. Dealer has not/cannot fix it. It never happens when a mechanic is in the vehicle. Hyundia Canada do not really admit to that there is a problem. Offered to leave the vehicle with dealer until they experience the thump. But no they could not do that. Other than this problem the vehicle seems fine. Am keeping a log of the thumps even though with a new vehicle you should not have to. Ammunition for when the warranty runs out.

After repeatedly complaining about the jerking shift on our 2010 SF, the dealership finally replaced the transmission. The replacement was okay for a while, but it seemed as soon as the cooler weather hit, we started having a new problem. Now the vehicle seems to shift "down" when coasting in lower gears. Now the downshift is accentuated by "missing", causing the engine to red-line when attempting to overtake another vehicle attempting 15kpm speed increase. Waiting to hear ... again ... how Hyundai will be resolving this. The SF has 45K on it. Our previous vehicles had 250+km and 350+km on original drive trains. This is not what I was looking for in a new vehicle.

I purchased this as a preowned unit with about 22k on it, last June. Initially, I had transmission issues like most spoke of. I was advised that the upgraded fluid had been installed at build. I had to go through several rounds of software "flash" upgrades before the harsh shifting calmed down. It still is there a bit in 2nd and 3rd, but is much better. Overall, this is a terrible vehicle to buy new but for late model used, purchased at wholesale, it is actually quite good. If the tranny fails I have a five year warranty and I drive about 7.5k a year so I'm not worried about miles. Interior is quite good, stereo very decent, and leather seats are comfy. Gas milege mediocre.

I bought my 2010 Santa Fe V6, full option, last year. I've been having problems from the start. I noticed a violent jerk and sounded like my transmission fell off. I took it in to the dealer but they couldn't find anything wrong. My wife drives the Santa Fe, and the engine shut down on her twice. When we took it to the dealer, he gave us a rental for a week while they test drove it. Again, they didn't find anything wrong with it. Last month, when I was driving, I was making a left turn and when I stepped on the gas, the car was not moving, only the engine revved up. I hope people read this and never buy this crap. I am Korean-American and I will NEVER buy Korean crap again. Thank you.

I am blaiming myself for buying a Hyundai vechnicle. Needless to say the bad transmission and poor mileage that a lot of customers having on this forum, my less than one year old 2010 Sante Fe refuse to start one night, and put me into a cold night waiting for more than 2 hours to have their 24 hr road side assitance to tow my car to a nearest dealship. On the way, the tow truck guy of CAA telling me that he had been faced the same problem lately and feel sorry for me to have a Hynduai with such a nonreliable quality and poor service. So my advice for everyone who intend to buy a Hyundai vechnicle: Look somewhere else and stay away of it!

I am so sorry to say, I no longer could live w/ the transmission issues w/ my 2010 sante fe & got rid of it. My initial problems within two months of purchasing: bucking everytime I turned on the car & slamming/thumping into 2nd & 3rd gear w/ slow acceleration and also experienced a hesitation of shifting between 2nd & 3rd. Been to the dealership numerous times & they reset my transmission once. They were able to fix the bucking when the car is turned on. Then took it back for the original problems resurfaced within a few hundred miles. Then they "couldn't duplicate" the issues & told me 'till they can there is nothing for them to do - as if I am making all this up. BUYERS BEWARE!

Had this vehicle for a year now, and I really like it. Mileage could be a little better, and one annoyance is that it does not have an outside-temperature gauge. Very nice ride, particularly on the highway, lots of usable interior room, and it handles well. Brake feel is a little soft. Did have a problem with the splines on the intermediate shaft to the transmission shearing at 20,000 km, but was fixed under warranty. Our dealer treated us well, and we have since leased a 2011 Elantra from them.

So far I am very satisfied with my Santa Fe. It has been very smooth, quiet and efficient (as long as I am not mashing on the gas) and my current peak was 27.2mph. I average about 23 combined which is what I expected and is decent for AWD, the heat in S. Florida, and traffic. The ride height and visability are very helpful for observing the road. The turning radius is excellent! The AWD system really helps when its wet. I have no experience in the snow currently living in Miami, Fl, but bought this with the intentions of moving to D.C.

I have had the transmission replaced twice in my 2010 Santa Fe. The new transmission has the same problems and Hyundai will not fix it. They have to "replicate" the problem which is there way of not fixing it. I have never had a car with this many problems in 50 years of buying cars. The dealer is just as bad as Hyundai. The vehicle has many squeaks and rattles which shows poor build quality. The GPS unit is useless in cold weather as you can not see the screen. This is the last non American car I will buy. Poor quality as the floor carpet is just cardboard covered with a poor quality fuzzy material.

I got this car in March 2010. It is extremely comfortable and has great standard features like heated leather seats. Looks like a much more expensive car on the inside. I have had several minor mechanical problems that needed fixing, which is annoying but not fatal. The worst thing about the car is the terrible mileage it gets. It says 20/28 - I have never even come close to 28 on the highway even with total highway driving and driving conservatively. The best you can hope for is about 18/21 and that's driving conservatively. How they got the EPA rating they have on this car is a mystery.

I'm sad to report that I'm having the same transmission issues that others seem to be having and that is rough shifting (a definite "THUMP" into gear) from 1-2 when the engines cold. Has happened on rare occasions from 2-3 and 3-4. Shifting is fine when car is warm up. Just had transmission "reset" by dealer for 2nd time yesterday, but it thumped softly this morning. Bought the car in May & don't think this started until the weather turned cold at night in the fall.

We purchased our Santa Fe after driving at least 8 competing models and the Santa Fe was way above the compting models. The Santa Fe V6 has plenty of power, decent MPG, rides pretty smoothly, and has lots of extras at a good price. The problem is it's transmission. It started having shifting problems at about 3k miles and we took it in and they reset the tranny. The problem was gone for a while and then gradually returned. We took it back to the dealer and the replaced the tranny at about 7k miles. Now it's been reset again, then reprogrammed and now I'm taking back to the dealer again for the fifth time Jan 10. There are lots of posts about tranny problems on Santa Fe forums now too.

After great reviews I took a chance on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2010. Ran great until about 7000 miles. That's when I noticed oil on my garage floor. Had the problem (timing chain cover)"fixed". Four days later it is leaking worse than ever. I can't wait to hear what the problem is this time. Also, intermittent transmission issues. Hyundai customer service no help yet. I will never buy a Hyundai again. I wish I would have done better research when I bought this vehicle. Please do yourself a favor if you are reading this review trying to decide on a purchase...do not buy a Hyundai. I fell like I threw $22000 out of the window and I'm sure it won't last 100K. I should have bought a gm. :-(

Exactly after 3 months & 3000 miles, this decent SUV is going great, love driving it, not a head-turner but great SUV for the price. Test drove Tuscon, was very tight, harsh drive and wasn't good, liked Santa Fe better. Interior is comfortable and Sonata-like (we own 2006 Sonata), turns are sharp and steering is fun. Brakes were a tad hard initially, but now they work fine. Had a few doubts about I4 engine, but it gives enough power with four adults inside and decent pick-up. In fact, had to tell a friend that its not V6. AWD is good, but will know more in winter. After reading a few complaints about transmission problems, was a bit concerned, but GLS seems to be fine. Love the BlueTooth!

I've had the vehicle almost a year now. I think it is an okay vehicle for the price you are paying, with good features, but there are some annoying deficiencies. On the plus side, the acceleration is very good, the handling is pretty good for an SUV, the interior is above average, and you get a long list of advance features. On the negative side, the ride is a little bit harsh. There are some fit and finish issues. The rear door needs to be slammed to close properly. The rear hatch area is not aligned perfectly. Occasionally there are some annoying squeaks and rattles from various parts of the car which speak to poor build quality. So far, I haven't any transmission problems.

I do have a service appointment next week to fix a problem with the rear door locks, they stopped working when using the key fob. I'm a bit unhappy with all the doors and door hardware on this vehicle in regards to quality and am unsure how it will hold up over time (not optimistic). Other than that I'm happy with the driving experience and mpg.

We traded in a 2005 2.0L Tucson for this vehicle. Our Tucson had been a reliable car. No probs of any kind in 5 yrs, but we had just outgrown it. And we needed more safety features (6 airbags) and a more comfortable ride. The dealer was clearing out the 2010 Santa Fes. We got a 6K rebate. Car was reduced to 23K (Canada). Car is a bargain at this price. 276 HP with 6 speed tranny. Smooth acceleration, tons of power. At 120 KM car is 2000 rpm. Quiet cabin. Lots of storage. Very much a sedan like ride. Great family car. Only had a month, but so far extremely happy. Drove the 2.4L. found it underpowered. Go with the 6 if yer considering it.

Car ride is ok but tires are noisy. AC unit goes out on hot humid days, dealer says can't replicate. Breaks squealed when new, deal said couldn't replicate. Major problem with transmission, auto trans. slips down shifting and upshifting between 20- 40 mph, bringing in next week, hoping dealer doesn't say can't replicate. Would never buy another Hyundai, will sell this one soon.

I bought this car and am not happy with the car primarily bc. Hyundai refuses to address my problems with the Air Conditioner. It has a vinegar like smell and the several dealerships refuse to admit that there is a problem. I have owned several Hondas and foreign cars and never before have I met a manufacturer that won't admit to a manufacturing defect. Hyundai has an attitude of superiority starting from the sales department and heading down to the service arena. They don't know how to take care of their customers and treat them with respect and dignity; instead they make you feel as though you are imagining the problem. I will never buy another Hyundai due to lack of integrity!

My new 2010 Santa Fe has about 4000 miles on it so far. Overall I am pleased with the car but there are some things i don't like about it. The ride is very rough. From the factory the tires had 36 lbs of pressure. Dropping the pressure to 30lbs helped a lot but the ride is still stiffer than that of a 2010 Rav 4 Limited. The V6 engine is very powerful but the gas pedal has excessive lag. Step on the gas and wait a 2 seconds before the engine RPM picks up. You will find many complaints online regarding the transmission but I haven't experienced any problems yet (fingers crossed). Rav 4 would have been my first choice if it wasn't for that swing out rear door.

Be aware the manufacture allows the local dealership to decide whether the car needs to be serviced under normal conditions or severe conditions. This could double the cost of ownership for you. This is according to a response I received from Hyundai.

There is nothing exceptional about the Santa Fe, however it looks nice, accelerates briskly, has a great warranty and gets decent fuel economy. The interior is mediocre but functional. The seats are comfortable and the ride quality is acceptable. Heated cloth seats on the SE are a bonus. Over the initial 3187 miles, I averaged 21.53 mpg with about 50% highway driving. Prior to purchasing, we test drove the Pilot, Highlander, RAV4, Murano and Forester. The Pilot and Highlander were more desirable-- but would have cost several thousand dollars extra with similar options. After the incentives, we paid $24,000 for the V-6 SE and feel like it was by far the superior value.

I am extremely disappointed in my Santa Fe. I purchased this vehicle due to there popularity. I immediately noticed that the transmission was slipping and making a loud banging noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd and so forth. I have since found out that this is a huge problem with the new Santa Fe and Hyundai is doing nothing about it as far as a recall. New transmissions are replaced with ones with the same problems. The Santa Fe must need a complete trans redesign. Just Google Hyundai Transmission Problems.

I purchased this car with the mindset of it being a family car for the next ten years. Now I hope I can get five. I had the car in for its first oil change and had the dealer look at the transmission since it had been shifting hard into first, second and third gear. To my surprise a week later I had a new transmission. From reading the other reviews it looks like this is a universal flaw. If you have this car I hope your dealer is as honest as mine was or you could have a big problem on your hands! To anyone thinking of buying this car don't!

We've driven this car just over 6000 miles with 1 long trip and mostly daily commuting. The car is very solidly built. The limited V6 FWD loaded with all the options ran us just under 29K Out the Door. We found this to be a better value than every other car in it's class. The cabin is quiet on the highway. The seats are very comfortable for both my wife and I. There is plenty of storage (our previous car was an 07 Murano). We also like the cabin aesthetics. Very few vehicles in this class have fake wood grain on the dash and it's quite appealing. Overall the ride is nice, acceleration is great in the v6 and the cabin is quiet on the highway to go along with a great warranty.

After 4 years of searching and researching options, I finally decided on the Hyundai. I recently took it for a short vacation trip to Helen, Ga, which is in the mountains and I was certainly glad I bought the 6 cylinder. I never had a power issue climbing the medium grade hills in that area. I got exceptional gas mileage; at least the advertised mileage but then I was not in a hurry to get there and did the posted speed limits and didn't gun it at lights or stop signs to get "of the line". It was very quiet and comfortable. The XM radio was nice, however, it did cut out along the shaded tree roads. The accelerator takes a little time to get use to. It does seem to jump a little.

Bought this as an import fan, and haven't been disappointed. Have owned Acura, Mazda, and VW prior to this, and I can say that it's of equal, if not better quality, than the lot of them. Fun to drive, and the 3.5L V6 is a no brainer if you're considering this. I test drove many of the competitors in this class, and none compared value wise. 276 hp makes it a great choice if you like to experience where you're going as opposed to just getting there.

This is an update from my review from 05/09/10. I absolutely loved everything about this car (past tense). I have been experiencing transmission problems which seems to be worsening. I am experiencing rough- "clunking" and abrupt shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear. Also at first start after overnight I hear a metal clanging from underneath towards the back/underside of the vehicle right after the first "clunk". Hyundai has "no fix". They have been reflashing the tcm's, ecm's, installing "new transmissions" with the same problems! Hyundai needs to step-up and remedy this problem. Purportedly it was defective transmissions from 1st production runs.

This is the first and LAST Hyundai I will EVER buy. I typically buy Honda (Accord, CR-V), but I bought the SF based on good reviews (Consumer Reports, etc.), enjoyable test drive, and apparent bang for the buck over the new CR-Vs. After 8K miles I have had 2 oil leaks (Timing Chain Cover Seal + cracked oil filter housing), & the intermittent transmission issues (hard shift, banging, lurching, etc.) that so many others have had. I will now crawl back to Honda for my next new car. It's a shame because without those MAJOR, inexcusable issues, the Santa Fe is an otherwise enjoyable vehicle. I thought Hyundai had done a 180 from the laughing stock it once was, looks like I was wrong.

I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe from Coconut Creek and complained about the odor in my car. They would not honor my warranty and wanted to charge $140 for repairs. I took it to another dealer and they used disinfectant and the smell came back. Hyundai admits the problem because they changed the ionizer to eliminate bad odors. I wouldn't buy another Hyundai again since they are not standing behind their problem with the AC

Fellow buyers, I am torn in this review. I researched this purchase literally to death! There isn't a site I left unviewed, a model in this category I didn't drive, PERIOD! But I eventually settled on the Santa Fe due to unbeatable feature/$$ list, improved mileage, and warranty. I love the truck in almost all ways, BUT, there is certainly a transmission issue with these trucks (slams into gear, lurches forward unpredictably as others mentioned!), and the mileage is nowhere near EPA. I have 25k km on mine, and never see below 12 L/100 km and EPA est is 7.6/100 km hwy and 10.1/100 km city. NO CHANCE! I have had service chk tranny twice, and going for third time in two days! :-(

I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe in February of 2010. Since day one I have experienced fast idle upon starting (1500 rpm), hard shifting, A/C that won't work when idling and then no A/C at all and a "thumping" in the cabin of the vehicle (right about center console location). After repeated trips to the service dept. the fast idle still exists, the hard shifting still exists, and the A/C has been fixed. I was horrified when the service dept. told me that the transmission may have to be replaced but they would have to get the car to "relearn" something or other (what??). I'm going back to the dealership and I want a new transmission or a new car - simple as that. Totally unhappy.

Purchased 2010 Hyundai Sante Fe V6. While the car rides smoothly and gets good mileage for midsized SUV the car has serious transmission issues. When you first start off it sporadically will make a loud bang as it shifts between 1- 2 gear. It also has a rocking motion caused by the transmission when slowly accelerating. It also shakes badly when shifting from park to either reverse or drive. Contacted Hyundai Consumer affairs about this issue and they say that they do no have any trend as to any transmission issues. Do a Google search on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe transmission problems and you will see many unhappy owners. Car is at the dealer as I write this. Doesn't look good. Don't buy

Just wanted to let anyone interested in buying a 2010 Santa Fe Limited to know the problems that we have had. The first problem was a hard shift from a slow start. The dealership tried to tell us that it was because of a new electronic transmission and that we would get used to it. Well, it became so bad and after taking it in several times they replaced the transmission. Big surprise the problem went away. Next, the A/C went out and their service department said they could find anything wrong and it miraculously started working again. The latest is the satellite radio, it has stopped working and they will now have to replace it as well. Never again will we buy a Hyundai vehicle.

First purchase ever and the Santa Fe was not my first choice. However, after test driving and sitting in all areas of the vehicle, I fell in love with the comfort and ease of the car. Drives quietly, smoothly and has an awesome pick up for a 4 cyl. Gas mileage has been great. Body is sleek and classy. Two downfalls; some parts feel flimsy i.e. gas tank cover, moldings on doors below windows. Also, I have an unexplained muffled thumping sound from the cabin of the car.

My first non-Honda car and I am impressed. This SUV appears to have a smaller trunk space than I am used to but not a show stopper. There are a/c vents on the sides of the door in the back, which causes the air to circulate better than being on the back of the center console for the back seaters. The ride is smooth and I don't hear the thumping sound that others are complaining about. I do have a concern with the exterior door handles as they seem like they aren't too sturdy. All in all, I am very pleased!

I looked at the Ford Escape (no power), the Honda CR-V (less than no power), Jeep Liberty (no legroom) and was pleasantly surprised with the Santa Fe. I looked at it 8 years ago and it was a gas pig then. It now has a six-speed transmission and the V6 actually gets only 1 mpg less than the 4-cylinder with a ton more power. I read reviews that some people weren't happy with the mileage. My tests: driving hard on the highway: 22-23 mpg, going 40-50 mph to work: 28 mpg, 35- 40 mpg on flat surfaces: 32 mpg, combined: 24-25 mpg. The interior and sound system are far and away the best out there. Very quiet. No winter yet, but awd got me through a flash flood just great. Absolutely a good choice.

I have had my 2010 sante fe since the end of January. I find it to be roomy and comfortable on the inside. Visibility is very good and the gas mileage is not bad. The problem is the thumping noise coming out of the rear suspension when driving over a pot hole or uneven road surfaces. I have had it to the dealer twice, the first time they blamed it on the rear seat belts, the second time on a small tool bag I have in the rear cargo area.

I came from a 2008 Mariner Premier, this SUV is superior in every way. Smooth ride, quiet, and very comfortable and the included amenities are unbelievable for the price; avg mpg, outside temp, steering wheel radio controls, blue tooth, wood grain trim, storage everywhere. These seats are VERY comfortable, this was the biggest surprise for me. This is also a very, very smooth transmission. At 70 mph in central FL, I am getting between 23.5 to 24 mpg on a brand new engine...but that is also what I get in city driving. The vehicle is better than the 20 mpg city rating but less than the 28 mpg highway rating; Hyundai ought to address this and not use calculations. Give this SUV a look!

Highway driving is excellent, city is also good. Lots of cargo space and storage in rear. My 3 kids sit comfortably in back seat. Quiet in the cabin at highway speeds. Gas mileage isn't bad with the V6, just drive in the ECO range and you'll get further. Overall not a bad choice for my first import car (Korean). I've taken it back twice for repair, am told there is no repair that is only happens on this size engine. However my loner was a smaller engine and it does the same thing when driving. Beware, this is a new problem with the 2010's. After two attempts to fix it, there is no fix. I was told I'd have to drive it that way. This is my last Hyundai. After spending nearly $30,000 for a Hyundai with a 4 cylinder engine I thought I would get the mileage posted on the sticker 20/28. Instead I am getting 16/ 22. We purchased a 4 cyl. FWD Santa Fe Ltd in late March and waited to drive it awhile before posting a review. We were looking for a mid-sized SUV to drive north each summer with kayaks and bikes. The SF had more room and comfort than the CR-V or RAV-4 for about the same price. This is our first Hyundai. This Santa Fe model is a very comfortable car with adequate acceleration but does require the driver to plan ahead a bit when passing or pulling out into traffic. Mileage in small town/rural driving has been in the mid-20s so far. We are still concerned about what we have heard are owner experiences with the warranty - but so far we are very pleased with our purchase.

After two days of driving the Santa Fe I am very pleased with my purchase decision. My last 3 cars were Hondas so I was a little hesitant to consider a Hyundai but after a lot of research I learned that the Santa Fe has good reliability and consumers reviews. But I am so glad I did. I really love the exterior and interior styling of the Sana Fe. The power of the V6 is impressive even though I am driving easy for the break-in period. The only negative I have so far is that the suspension is pretty tight and road bumps, etc. can be felt (and heard) in the cabin at times. Although, I am coming from a car so it might be that I am not used to driving a SUV.

I have only had it for a month, but so far I love it. Very smooth ride, very quiet vehicle. Build quality seems to be excellent, and the warranty is great. My mom just bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox, and hers is an 2LT, which is not the top of the line model, I got my top of the line Limited Santa Fe with more options than her Equinox, for about 4,000 dollars cheaper. It's the first foreign car I have owned, but I loved the look of it, and loved it when I took it for a test drive. And then add on the price and it was too good to pass up.

My wife and I purchased a 2010 Santa Fe from the Wayne auto mall on route 23 on June 17. Before leaving the dealership we realized the hood did not open and the driver door did not close correctly. My wife was very excited with the new purchase and wanted to bring it back in the morning to be what we thought a half hour adjustment, she waited for 2 hours to be told that we might need a loaner. Should a brand new car have these issues? How will the dealership handle their faulty product? Will let all know the outcome

I purchased the Santa Fe se v. 6 awd in April 2010 and now have almost 2500 miles on it. I was a little concerned about the gas mileage the first 1000 miles because it seemed low but as soon as it hit about 1500 the mpg jumped significantly. We took a long interstate drive and it averaged almost 25-26 mpg. I live in a city and it now averages about 21-22 which is very good for this size vehicle. Will try it out on a 1200 mile trip next week and see how it does. I will say that I love my Santa Fe. It is very easy for me to drive and it is very comfortable. It has plenty of storage compartments. I don't really have any complaints so far. I will Post a review again in a few more months.

This is my Wife and I first SUV and so far we are loving it. We look at some of the other smaller SUVs and the Hyundai won us over. The engine is a bit underpowered and has a little lag from the start compare to other SUVs in this class but the trade off for better gas mileage may make it seem right. The ride is firm but not overly harsh and the steering is precise with very little under or over steer. The sound system could use some work the speakers lack range and depth. Overall we are happy and can't wait for our first long trip.

After getting two Elantras for my children, I knew I wanted another Hyundai. The new Santa Fe (holy faith) with the new four cylinder engine has given me 28 MPG on my road trips. The fold down seats in the rear have also allowed me transport sizable cargo. To go along with the decent MPG and cargo space, I got a price that I could afford (OTD at $22,500).

We recently purchased a 2010 Santa Fe GLS with Nav. Generally, we are pleased with the car. The fit and finish is very good and the car is rich in features. It's a very pleasant car; competent but not excellent. I have some concerns over how well the car will age - time will tell. One thing I am disappointed over is the gas mileage; we are averaging about 21 mpg in mixed driving. We had hoped for a bit better considering our GLS is the four cylinder version.

Here's my story, it's a long one. I've been researching, renting, test driving and reading reviews for over a year. Finally I made a decision. Considering the tag price, gas mileage and overall value this SUV is the way to go! Standard equipment on base model, excellent warranty, reasonable resale value, and so far dependable. If Hyundai keeps this up I'll never buy American again.

Hyundai added features are nice.

Traded in a Toyota van which had great ride quality and am disappointed in sante fe's ride. Very stiff ride which I did not discover upon test driving. Interior is noisy, could be the leather seats rubbing together and vibrating. A/c controls are more complicated than they need to be. Engine seems to have some hesitation upon acceleration. Black interior is more dark gray than black which I like better. Anxious to see how it handles in snow. Lots of features on this SUV for the money but not sure I will keep it for the long term due to ride quality and interior noise. Interior comfort is more important to me than all the bells and whistles that this car has. Not sure it was right car for me.

This is my first new car in 23 years so I researched models and price for months. Had been a loyal Toyota owner (until this year) and also wanted my first SUV. Thanks to Edmunds and Truecar.com, I honed in on the Santa Fe, then used the internet to contact sev. dealers and start negotiating. Local dealer agreed to sell the only fully loaded, 2010 Ltd that he had on the lot (they're hard to find) for a negotiated price of $27,600 and I drove off the lot completely in love with this car. Entire purchasing process was seamless and painless. As a woman, I can't stress enough the importance of using Edmunds and TrueCar to educate oneself and gain negotiating confidence and power.

Purchased a 2010 Hyundai Sata Fe SE, FWD with the 3.5L 6cyl 6A. This is my first Hyundai and I was really surprised at the quality and refinement. I think it compares favorably with more expensive SUV's (Nissan Murano etc.) I really wanted the Limited version-but could not get the gray interior-only on the SE. However, I am very pleased with my SE. It's very quiet with outstanding ride/handling characteristics. I also calculated approx. 19.5 mpg on my first tank of gas (mostly city). Excellent mid-sized SUV!

I have just bought the Santa Fe for my wife and newborn son and I am amazed by the high quality and luxury features. Unbeatable price, big warranty, and better trim level. Was initially considering Toyota Highlander, but disapointed with price and low quality on test drive. Was starting to consider smaller SUV's with better trim, but was unable to scape the Santa Fe. My brother has a Tucson for 2 years now and he also loves his car. I guess we will be a hyundai family.

I am a 1st time Hyundai owner. A humbled one I might add. Never even allowed myself to consider this brand. Wanted to move into small SUV and shopped comps at Subaru, Chevy, maz, niss, Dodge, Ford. No one even came close to Hyundai's prod and price with awd / auto. Impressed w /the standard options normally reserved for upgrades, 5* consumer reviews, 5* safety, fuel efficiency, space, styling in and out, quality of drive, fab warranty and hassle free buying, great manufacturer financing. While Hyundai is a Korean vehicle, the Santa Fe's are built in American factories by Americans. All around I would recommend taking the plunge. A smart buy your not likely to regret

We traded in a BMW X3 (big disappointment) and had planned on getting a Toyota Highlander, but with the recent problems there we looked at the Santa Fe. This is a great looking SUV, much more attractive than the latest Highlanders. Fully loaded with Nav (hard to find for some reason) and most other options, this cost us under $30K. It's more fun to drive than the X3, more comfortable, looks great and has awesome options -- the touch screen Nav also controls the audio system with XM radio and iPod controls. I can stream audio from my iPhone to the vehicle using Bluetooth! We're thrilled with the Santa Fe. Gas mileage is lower than expected so far though (17 city).

This is a great car for the money. I am having some type of down shifting problem with the car. When the car is cold and is first starting out down the road it seems to not want to down shift, and then it suddenly makes a loud noise then jumps forward and down shifts. When I brought it to the dealership, they were not able to duplicate the problem so they erased the computer to see if that would fix it. Interestingly enough, there was a customer ahead of me that owned a 2009 Sonata that described the same problem. Apparently, there is a technical service bulletin for that model to make the repair. Hopefully, if this becomes a problem for Santa Fe they will come up with a repair.

I traded in my 2009 Mazda 3 for the 2010 Santa Fe a few weeks ago for the increased utility. I'm a sports junkie and needed the cargo space of an SUV for all my sports equipment. I researched and/or drove the Rav4, CRV, Tucson, and several others, but fell in love with the Santa Fe when the minute I started driving it. I've never owned a Hyundai before, but I am thoroughly impressed with their build quality, interior design, and performance. The lengthy warranty is great, as I plan to drive the Santa Fe at least 10 yrs and I put on about 17,500 miles/yr commuting to work. I especially appreciate the very comfy heated leather seats, which makes my commute a joy, along w/ the awesome stereo!

I'm a first-time Hyundai owner who was previously skeptical of the brand. I read lots of reviews and learned that Hyundai has greatly improved it's quality so I decided to test drive a SF. Who knew? I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and standard features given the price. I was leaning toward buying a 2009 RAV-4 V6, but the 2010 SF SE was approximately the same price with more cargo room and more comfortable ride and fit/finish. Hyundai is giving Toyota and Honda a run for their money, especially considering the warranty and price. If you're looking at SUVs, you should definitely test drive a Santa Fe.

I would recommend this car over most of the competitors. I looked at the Rav4, CX-7 and the Ford Edge and for the price and warranty the Santa Fe limited is by far the best value hands down. My Limited has the navigation, XM, sunroof and everything else except the towing package. And so far the 4- cyc has not been lagging on power and the gas mileage has been great.

Good value for the money. Expected to buy a used RAV4 or similar small CUV but got a good deal: MSRP at 27k, bought at 23k. Wish sunroof came standard but having it added, which upped price to 24k out the door. Comfortable, stylish, good cargo space. I had smaller, sportier cars before this so I'm adjusting to driving a mid-sized SUV. Easy to drive and very good acceleration.

Left from home convinced we were coming home in a Murano. We spent 2 hours at the Nissan dealership only to find that we would only be able to get a stripped down Murano in our price range. We went two miles down the road and stopped to drive a Santa Fe. I just couldn't believe how much SUV we got for the money. Bigger, more features, cheaper, and better safety rating than the Murano. Love putting my wife and 2 year old son in such a safe reliable vehicle. If safety is a priority, then you have to give this thing a look. Save the money, get the features. My step-mother turned us on to the Santa Fe when she traded in her Navigator for a 2009. She likes it better than her $50,000.

This is my 3rd Santa Fe but the first 2nd generation model I have owned and I am very impressed with the overall improvement. 100 more horses than my '01 and 2-3 mpg more on average makes me smile. This car has big shoes to fill since my '01 had 150k miles on it and never let me down in the 9 years I had it. I'm sure it won't disappoint, if so the dealer can fix it under warranty.

Great vehicle-except A) no protective covering on rear bumper as in 2009 models, B) and takes a lot of effort in order to lock steering wheel (180 degree turn of steering wheel). Lastly, no daytime running lights, reason unknown.. All controls easy to see, reach and use. I do mostly city driving and have gotten about 20 mpg thus far.

The Santa Fe is a very pleasant SUV. After owning a Honda Pilot for 3 years, I found the SF to be a worthwhile transport. It does ride more like a real SUV as where the Pilot was more like a car. I believe the 18" tires have a lot to do with this. The ffit and finish of the SF is now up to Honda standards in every way and at a much fairer price($4-5K saved). I do find the ride is much better than my '09 Sonata which I traded in( it had a noisy suspension). My only complaint is the driver seat is hard to adjust to my liking though not terrible in its feel. I have to be picky to say this as the SF is a joy to drive and with the 6 engine has great road power. Believe me, try it!

I am a field claims adjuster for an insurance company so I look at wrecked cars all day every day. Recently I have noticed that Hyundai's build quality has improved vastly. I've also taken note of how well they hold up in crashes. When we received a letter from our local dealer offering added incentives for Toyota owners to trade their vehicles in, my wife and I went to the dealer and checked out the Santa Fe.We we were sold on the looks, the quality of the interior and the performance, and traded in our 07 Rav4 right then.Don't be put off by Hyundai's prior reputation, the fit and finish is at least equal to Honda and Toyota and the warranty is excellent.Feels like a lexus inside.Recommend!

The Santa Fe is just the right size for me, not too small like the CRV or RAV4 but still small enough to be fun to drive. I bought the Limited with navigation, and the IPOD integration, blue tooth, and nav system, and satellite radio and backup camera all work wonderfully. The 6 cylinder has great pick-up. I've been averaging 21 MPG with mostly city driving. Taking some 6 footers out to lunch, they found the back seat roomy and comfortable. The cargo room is very spacious. The paint job is top-notch. Fit and finish inside and outside are outstanding. The dash controls are wonderfully laid out. The leather seats up front with the power seat is very comfortable.

This replaced our '08 due to a defective engine. Interior is more upscale now, and seats look much nicer but they need to be firmer for taking turns. The 3.5l V-6 is ridiculously powerful for the FWD model. Torque steer is actually dangerous during full throttle operation in 1st gear. Grab the wheel with both hands or you'll be in the ditch! It's great once you get used to it, though. Left foot placement is a bit awkward for the driver. I wish the sunroof didn't require the only and very expensive upgrade package. I don't need a nav system. I live on an island so I'm not going to get lost. 3rd row seating is also gone. Overall very satisfied and great build quality so far.

I have been driving various Honda vehicles for the past 13 years. They have pretty much priced themselves out of the market(for what you get). And let's face the fact that a Honda drive like a Honda. I purchased the 2010 SE this past Saturday. I wanted something a bit more "luxurious" & want to feel that I am getting little bit more value for my money. Everyone I have spoken with who has a Santa Fe highly recommends this vehicle. I was sold after my test drive. Very comfortable & lots of space for everyone. I am impressed that the sticker said 20/26 for gas mileage. Very solid/safe/sporty suv!

My wife's 2003 Subaru Forester was getting long in the tooth so we knew a replacement was in the cards. I drive an Explorer and she like sitting higher and safer, but wanted something smaller. We looked at Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner, but it was very pricey. Also looked at the new Kia 2011 Sorento. We both knew the Santa Fe was the right choice as soon as we drove it. More than enough power, posh and roomy interior, well built and fun to drive. My wife loves it and we were out the door under 23K on a 29K list price. I also like that it's built in the USA. Never thought I'd drive a Hyundai, but now my wife has to get up early or she'll be driving the Ford.

My wife is having our first baby, and wanted a crossover. Rated very safe, and my brother in law was hit on the side of his sante fe, and rolled the car three times, and walked away from the crash. I drive a lexus, and did not think highly of Hyundai. We bought the limited edition, all wheel drive. This car is a tank, and great in the snow. We both love the car, and on weekends it is my first choice of ride. Hyundai has come along way, and I would certainly recommend this car. Plus we bought it new for 25k, and list price was 32k. They have great deals, and the car is very nice. Heated seats, many amenities. Great Job Hyundai!
