We've owned a 2010 GMC Terrain SLE 6 cylinder since December 2009. We purchased this after our first child and quickly realized how tiny the backseat was with a carseat installed. Along came baby number 2 and bye-bye went the third passenger in the back. Even just three average adults are squished into that tiny space. I couldn't sit between the 2 carseats and I'm 5'4, 130lbs. Within the first year, the tailgate needed to be repainted because the back licence plate housing rubbed the paint off. 18 months later, the same thing happened. At the 4 year mark, the inside bottom of all the doors are rusted to the metal. The center console USB plug stopped working after a year. Out of the blue, I got a service stabilitrac warning one day around 60,000 miles accompanied by loud grinding from my brakes. I needed a new wheelbearing, all new brake pads, and rotors, and my emergency brake caliber somehow fell off. At 63000 miles, at startup one evening, the engine sputtered and the notification center said low engine mode, service stabilitrack, and the abs, stabilitrak, and check engine light stayed on. After turning the car off and on a few times, the lights turned off, but I still had an intermittent check engine light turn on. The code for that was for a camshaft actuator and the engine had somehow burned or leaked 2 quarts of oil in a very short amount of time. Wasted $300 on a camshaft actuator and the check engine light stayed off long enough for the ride home. Called the dealership next day, they stated that the timing chains usually need to be replaced in these and that may be what is wrong (mind you, "may be" to the tune of another $1,000!) They also informed me that they had never changed the timing chains on a 6 cylinder at that dealership. I questioned if it would affect the engines function and was assured that the timing chains made noise when they went bad and I would know when it was time. Fast forward another 8 months and 3,000 miles and my service stabilitrak light, ABS, and check engine lights are on again and the engine has again consumed 3 quarts of oil in a short amount of time(yes, I regularly check the oil). This car was garage kept and averaged less than 10,000 miles a year, and I followed the maintenance schedule. I am the original owner. When I contacted GMC, their reply was that the vehicle is out of warranty and then they had the dealership contact me. After some research, I found my issues are similar to other GMC Terrain owners and if your Terrain isn't having any of these issues now, great, but I strongly suggest getting rid of it before this happens. If your looking to purchase a Terrain, please choose something else!!

Had this car for 6 yrs and has less than 49K on it when the transmission goes out. You would think that a transmission with less than 49K on would last a little longer. I now see why GM reduced the mileage for it's powertrain warranty from 5yrs/100,000 to 5yrs/60,000. I'm sure they were losing big money. Also, fuel economy is way less than advertised. I barely get 18 MPG.

We are warned that "Everything that looks good is not always good for you!" My son surprised me with this vehicle for Christmas 2 years ago. Needless to say, it was an expensive gift that was NOT worth giving. This vehicle will bankrupt you! If you purchased a 2010 GMC Terrain I certainly hope you have a good warranty to go along with it. You will most certainly need it. The Engine in these vehicles are LEMONS! You better buy stock in engine oil as well. Never mind any recommended oil change schedules you are given. Do it every 2,000 miles or you will pay the price. The best thing about that is, the car will warn you around every 2,000 mile interval. The engine begins to rattle when you press on the accelerator. It will begin to cut off on you upon acceleration. It will surge. It will stall and scare the hell out of you. And KEEP YOUR OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS, you will need them when you have to replace the engine...and you will have to replace the engine! They will try to say you did not change the oil according to schedule. Trust me, If I would of waited to do it every 3,000 (or 5,000 as they suggested) miles the engine probably would have caught fire. There have been numerous other issues as well, but the engine issues and the drastic over consumption of oil are the mother of all other issues. BUYER BEWARE! It's a shame too because I like the design, the body style, and the interior cabin space. But the cons far outweigh the pros.

We purchased this car used and have had 5 recalls now, and the latest issue is the throttle body breaks. We had the dealer check this out before we left on a trip and they assured us everything was fine. On an 8 hour trip to Houston, we receive and error message that the car is powering down. It basically makes you slow down and pull over. Nothing you can do. We had the car towed to the nearest dealer and another repair. Very disappointed in GM as many of the websites I read say this should be a recall but to this point, nothing from GM. The MPG is way off. The car is now burning oil. I'll be taking it in again. Please don't buy GM cars.

I purchased a used 2010 GMC Terrain SLT-2 AWD from Harris Mitsubishi Dealer (Everett, WA) in April 2015 with ~83,000 miles. Everything looked great and the cost was in my price range. When I asked the salesman about the CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE while the engine was running he said "that's normal for a 4 cylinder" Purchased this vehicle with the reassurance that it has been detailed, oil changed and mechanically inspected/ approved. I also purchased their 3rd party warranty (Protective Asset Protection) with hopes to be pro-active and a responsible car owner... - May 2015: Low oil light comes on, I return to Harris Mitsubishi Dealer to be told that they just "forgot to reset the button but my oil is fine". They reset it and told me to come back as directed on the reminder window decal. *NO repairs preformed at this time as directed by Harris Mitsubishi* -June 2015: While driving my Terrain dies multiple times when slowing to a stop. Must rev my engine to keep it on. Took immediately to Seaview GMC Service Department (Lynnwood, WA) Diagnostics come back with a TIMING CHAIN ISSUES and my Terrain had been LEAKING and now RUNNING ON NO OIL. *Preformed ALL recommend repairs by Seaview because this part was cover under factory warranty* - October 2015: Check engine light turns on and clicking noise seems to be more regular. Took immediately to Seaview again and now diagnostics show CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS FAILED and my AC COMPRESSOR is FAILING. $175.00 for diagnostics alone. Catalytic converter is not covered under my warranty and since the ac compressor has not failed they will not replace this. Seaview recommend not driving until these parts are replaced, quoted me at least $1,200 just for the catalytic converter part alone. -November 2015: Researched online for answers only to find out that all of these issues are consistent with other numerous Terrain owners. When I contacted GMC direct 1-866-996-9463 with my frustrations, facts and safety concerns I was told essentially that its a used car that's out of warranty, but they will look into it.... ****My advise to YOU is invest your good hard money into some other vehicle****

I bought this 4 cyl SLE 2 Terrain in 2011 with just 9k on the clock. At first I thought it was a nice car for the money and offered a lot of comforts and conveniences. After 20k miles it needed at timing chain. after 40k miles it needed another timing chain. Shortly after that the ac would cycle on off every 10 seconds. Took it to GMC for ac check and they said was ok. Took it back at least 8 times and they started changing parts and every time they touched it it got worse. Finally they told me it needed a new evaporator because it was leaking. So I took it to another shop for a 2nd opinion and they said they could not see or find any leaks. So back to GMC again and they started messing with the computer. Only to make it worse. Than Yesterday driving home I hear a growling noise coming from the tranny and than my car stoped and I had to get towed to GMC. The next day GMC told me the tranny was toast and it would cost 4400 dollars because I am out of warranty. This car has only 4300 miles on it and has never need driven hard. Don't but a Terrain its bad news

i bought the SLE 2.4l AWD in 2014, the vehicle was already 4 years old with 80k miles on it. before i drove it off the lot, noticed the utility charging plug in the front storage compartment did not work, and the USB port in the center console did not work. told the dealer and they said they would handle it, no one ever called me. as the year progresses that i have the vehicle, i start smelling small amounts of exhaust in the cab and think nothing of it. this week, 11/2/15 - 11/6/15 the check engine light came on and gave a P0011 code, took it to the dealer and found it was crank shaft alignment sensor, the dealer recommended replacing the actuator for it and also doing the exhaust sensor and actuator. $900 later, because the extended warranty that i purchased would not cover the work performed, the exhaust i smelled in the cab became 10 times worse. took it back to the dealer and had them look at it free of charge. i now have a cracked exhaust manifold. this crack does not show up over night, which means when i bought it, the manifold probably had a small fracture in it. and yet again, my extended warranty will not cover this repair either. dealer wants over $500 to fix this, sorry.. i got my complementary inspection, im going somewhere else for the repair. dont get me wrong, the fuel economy on this vehicle is great and it is a good looking car. i, however, do not like having to fork out this much money on a vehicle when i have only owned it for a year now and still making payments on it. my 2002 GMC Sierra has given me less trouble, and it's 13 years old now.

We have had 4 recalls. Every time we take the car in to the dealership it takes days to get it fixed, after being promised it should be a 4 hour fix. They also try and charge us every time and they try and tell us it's not under warranty so we have to prove it. The computer is a joke and the engine continues to have issues idling. Don't buy this vehicle as it has many issues.

Piece of crap. Needed wheel bearing replaced @10k miles. Engine noise from oil starvation to top end at startup. 33k miles and one week out of warranty and GM will only cover part of the repair. Cost me $1400 for a trans rebuild. GMC is so confident in their transmissions that they don't bother to give you a dipstick to check your tranny fluid. 5yr 100k miles warranty?

We had driven Ford Explorers for many years and thought we would give the Terrain a try partly due to it's touted fuel mileage. As we live on a ranch and drive under different road conditions depending on the time of the year, we purchased the AWD. It was a bad decision. The mileage advertised at the time was 32 mpg and we were lucky to get 25 mpg under the best of conditions. The transmission was so high geared that we had to manually put it in low and ride the brakes on steep grades. The overall workmanship interior/exterior was poor, with plastics being major components throughout. The worst was the ground clearance, which was ridiculous for a so-called SUV. We encountered several damages by driving road good paved roads, when something would be thrown up from the tires and doing damage. The final straw was my wife hitting a jack rabbit at 50 mph, causing enough damage that the vehicle had to be towed and repair costs were $1,800.00. Owning it less than two years and with less than 45,000 miles on it, we traded it in for another make. I would recommend that you not buy this vehicle unless you live in town, don't care about gas mileage and just want to say you drive a SUV.

I purchased this car new in 2010. within 6 months there was trouble. oil issues, check engine light with no real causes, throttle body replacement, stalling on the highway, stalling on side roads, general unreliability. I have been towed into the dealer 9 times since purchase for dying on the side of some road. It burns oil for no reason. GMC and dealer just say too bad, and tell me to check it every 1000 miles between oil changes. I typically add between 1 to 2.5 quarts every 1500 miles. The car is comfortable, and spacious for having two car seats in it, BUT that comfort does not outweight its ongoin challenges. I would get rid of it if i had the money to.

My first car cost $17,000 less than my terrain and was 100% more reliable. Lots of warranty work was done on the engine before the engine needed to be rebuilt. After it was rebuilt the gas mileage plummeted. then the transmission blew just out of warranty. Would have been nice to be able to check the transmission fluid without crawling under the car, but there is no dipstick. Absolute waste of money and the last gm product I will own.

Purchased my Terrain soon as it hit dealerships during its release. I've never visited a dealership so many times and have had so many problems with a vehicle. Since having this vehicle I've had problems with the vehicle shutting off in the middle of intersections due to the senor oxygen (engine control) needing to be replaced to due cold starting the vehicle, the rear control arm bushings, the stabilizer shaft, the exhaust manifold all of which needed to be replaced. Now, GM was trying to hit me over the head and charge me for the timing chain which they try putting on me for not changing the oil. Luckily I saved all my receipts and they had to eat the $847 bill.

I bought this terrain just over a year ago and have had nothing but problems. In its 4 years of being on the road it's had the motor rebuild due to oil consumption issue. It's had the timing chain replaced twice. The AWD system has malfunctioned. The sunroof is broken. The navigation unit has been changed twice. Numerous sensors have been replaced. The emissions system has been a nightmare. I've spent a lot out of pocket cause most of it has not been under warranty. I'm very disappointed in the quality that GM has put into the first gen terrain. Overall the vehicle so unreliable that I can't trust it for my wife to drive back and forth to work. I do not recommend this vehicle at all.

I purchased my 2010 Terrain after evaluating a number of SUV's. I almost bought the Chevy Equinox but fell in love with the Terrain during the test drive. For the last 4 years the vehicle has been virtually trouble free and very dependable. However--right at 56K miles there was a catastrophic failure of the transmission which required a total rebuild. The Wave Plate, along with a number of other components, basically flew apart. On the positive front the dealership took very good care of me and gave me an excellent loaner vehicle and kept me informed. I had no out of pocket expense because it was covered by the drive train warranty.

We bought our 2010 Terrain new. My wife drives daily to work and in less than 3 years we already have 87,000 miles. We bought the car because we were informed that the mpg would be 31 or so. We've never gotten better than 27 and usually we're at 24-26 mpg with the 4 cylinder on eco. We've had problems with the lift gate, timing chain knocking, and at 80,000 miles we changed the tranny oil. It was black! Since then we've continued to feel it slip. Driving in the back seat is a horrific experience for people with good backs! It's too straight up and down. The AC has broken down twice in 2 years!

At 35,000 miles the timing change had to be changed. At 51,000 miles I brought it in for engine noise that was extremely loud and an oil film on the undercarriage. Told that the noise and oil was normal. Today at 54,000 miles it appears all of the oil drained out of the motor. Beside the huge puddle on the driveway there is oil from the front of the car to the rear of the car.

We have never had so many problems with a new vehicle as we have had with this one. They had to replace timing chain, a rattling noise is still very loud but they tell us there is nothing wrong, drive the car to work and back and no engine light turned on or anything just a loud knocking noes in the motor every time we pressed gas.. Little did we know that the car had no engine oil... But it still showed it had 40% oil life. Don't know where the oil is going. This is the second time it's happened to us. We have to check oil at least every 2 weeks.. This is a 2010 car. Mileage is not what it says it is..

I bought my Terrain as a brand new model when it first came in at our local dealership in October, 2010. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. I have had to have my transmission re-calibrated 3 or more times now, I have about 1 to 1-1/2 quarts of oil drain out when an oil change is done every 3,000 miles.. I have had a camshaft actuator replaced, many different solenoids replaced, a cracked timing chain tensioner bracket replaced, my exhaust manifold gasket was leaking, a wheel bearing go out at about 20,000-30,000 miles, & have had a carbon clean out done 3 times in the last 6 months because it's causing my car to shut off. I am currently looking to trade this in.

My family is picking up our 2010 GMC Terrain on Monday (tomorrow) and we are SO excited! It is actually used with 30,000 miles but its new to us! We took the car for almost an entire day last week (my very close friend is the manager of the dealership) and absolutely loved it. I drive a 2008 Tahoe for work and just can't imagine spending that kind of money on gas considering how much city driving I do. I love love love the interior and exterior styling of the Terrain. I agree with the "numb steering" feel, but I'm used to it from the Tahoe. We were impressed with the gas mileage, but long term remains to be seen. We were in the market for a 4cyl SUV and this one fit the bill!

Our gas mileage is 18.9 MPG. Many people don't like the red lighting but my family & I think it's pretty cool. The fabric seats aren't that attractive but they are comfortable & they seat my tall family very nicely with room to spare. This really is a beautiful, nice, and safe feeling SUV. It feels solid and drives well up mountain roads. The onstar is awesome along with the XM Radio and Ipod USB Port. I've only driven in the snow once with my AWD Terrain. It was brand new and I was nervous. I thought I was stuck and my Dad said "Come on and give it some gas!" No problem I got through their non-maintained road. The engine idle sound is horrible & embarrassing but we still love the car.

Would not buy again.

We liked the idea of 32 MPG highway but it has fallen far short of that. We are only getting about 25-26 MPG on the highway. We mostly drive about 68 mph with cruise control. GMC should be charged with false advertising. We took it into the dealer, Dick Norris of Clearwater, Florida and they supposedly checked it out on the "Computer" and found nothing wrong. We have already told everybody that asks about the Terrain and we mentioned the gas mileage problem to all of them. We are now stuck with this "Lemon" for three years and will never buy another GMC product. Sorry, but just telling the truth.

Bought this vehicle with 4800 miles on it, now has 10500 and have loved it. Get 17-19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The transmission does have a "different" shifting to it but not a big deal.Have gotten several compliments about the styling and such. GMC could do some improvements to it but that would be nit-picking on my part. Had a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe (for 8 years) and love the Terrain much more.

I drive 40,000 miles a year, and I will say that this is a reliable vehicle but the good ends there. when my full size Ford F-150 4x4 gets better mileage there is definitely something wrong here. I averaged slightly under 20 mpg over the coarse of 35,000 miles. driving gravel roads the cab fills with dust and i gave up cleaning the interior. i have the 3.0L v-6 and it is gutless, absolutely no power. also I am 6' 1" and head room is non- existent. I have no idea why people like this vehicle for anything besides the looks. the seats are rock hard, cruise control acts goofy, I hate the way the transmission shifts, climate control doesn't work the way it should.

I've been driving the fully loaded 6 cyl model for almost 10,000 miles, and my wife and I both love it. We've gotten a lot of (favorable) comments. The ride is great, the fuel economy has been just as advertised, and the NAV system, Bluetooth, and other features are great. I've had a couple of minor issues, but the dealer was able to take care of them with no problems. I'd recommend this car to anyone looking gfor a small SUV.

I have driven this Terrain 8000 miles and enjoyed every mile. I have had Park avenues GMC Trucks Olds bravada Roadmasters . This is by far the most enjoyable auto I have ever had. I suspect the folks that are complaining about the mileage have a heavy foot and just want to complain about something so they don't have to take responsibility for the mileage. I have driven through the smokies with this auto and the 4 cylinder has performed well. I have learned how to use the manual shift which helps greatly in mountains and in the city.I always limit the the trans to 5th gear in the city and do the same in the mountains This is a great vehicle and I think Gm is building some great products

I have had my Terrain 4Cyl now for two months. I am very happy with it. Fun to drive, feels rock solid on the road and delivers good gas mileage. I keep track of every tankful and so far my best mileage is 37 mpg on a highway run and the worst is exactly 30mpg which was a combination of city and highway. However, the engine sounds like a can of marbles when accelerating gently. Sounds like pre-ignition. Dealer says "they all do it." Well, no, they don't. GM is aware of the problem with some of the 4 cyl engines in the Terrain and the Equinox and is planning an ECM upgrade. I have to run the car on Super gas to alleviate the darn noise when accelerating. Other than that, no complaints.

The 4 cyl Terrain lacks power to use cruise control on Interstate Hwys if there are any hills at all. The Tach will goes from 2000 to 4000 and roar like hell on any little rise. In town and on flat land highways it performs fine. It is comfortable for driving and looks fine. I suggest, however, if you can afford the extra dollars, buy the 6 cyl.

Sorry to hear about all the folks with the MPG issues. I bought the 6 cyl. and I know it will take some fuel to drive this beauty. I have only been on the road with it for 2 weeks and I really like it so far. It is smooth and a real head turner (black with all the chrome). I hope to get the upper end of the MPG stated but that is yet to be determined. I started my research back in Nov. 09 for my Terrain. As we probably all figured out GMC has not been releasing a lot at one time at least where I am at. Maybe that is a good thing and those of us who own one will have good resale later. I do not know how often I will use the remote start. Stay Safe and Happy Driving Everyone

In comparing most of the reviews over the past few months, my only common negative experiences are: with only rear windows down, noise cancellation system goes berserk augmenting normal "helicopter" reverberation and hammers your ears unmercifully; radio volume stuck a couple of times in hot weather, but returned to normal after restarting car; several interior chrome appointments reflect sunlight painfully; front headrests insufficiently adjustable (I'm 6' 6"). On the plus side, avg. overall mileage is 26, but I can get 32 as claimed in ECO on highway without cruise control; very roomy interior with comfortable, quiet ride - even for 4 adult passengers; good fit & finish.

The number one reason for buying the 4 cyl. Terrain was the 32 MPG Hwy. advertised. This could not be more wrong. We recently drove over 2400 miles which most was interstate highway and averaged only about 25 MPG. We are senior citizens and this was mostly on cruise control at less that the listed highway speed. We are very disgusted with this poor hwy. mileage and will certainly not recommend this vehicle to friends and family. We could have bought another Town and Country which is a 6 cyl. and we averaged over 25 MPG on the last one we owned prior to the Terrain.

I have the same problems as Hate_GMC. The transmission of my brand new Terrain was leaking right when it was driven home. The antenna is too long and the car won't fit in my garage. We've contacted GM and have gotten undesirable results. The receptionist was very rude to me and only after did we file complaints did they pay us any attention. We've requested that we get a new car or that they would extend our warranty but we didn't receive either. With every year of warranty extended, we'd have to pay a fee.

We bought the gmc terrain as a surprise to ourselves; we had been looking at the CR-V, escape, rav4, edge and a few cars until we realized we really needed a small SUV. Economy and ride comfort were tops on our list and the terrain (2.4 L awd slt1) after 10,000 miles in 4 mo has given us 25 mpg all-around half NY city Urban and half cross-country interstate. On interstate stretches we saw 30 mpg a few times but mostly it was 27-28 mpg unless traversing the mountains of West Virginia/Kentucky/Tennessee where highway mileage was 24-25 mpg, no trailering. We trailered a pair of hds on a light trailer (total weight 1600 lbs. Pushing the max) and economy drops to 22-25 mpg highway. Overall excellent!

I'll start out by saying my only complaint with our Terrain is the turning radius isn't that great. It doesn't always bother you but on making u turns you sometimes have to back up if the road isnt wide. Other than that we LOVE our Terrain. I read someone said it took 3 hours for onstar to get someone to them. IT probably took 3 hours for whomever was coming but be happy onstar was there. Ive had to use onstar several times and in a accident. That voice coming over automatically telling me help is on the way and I don't have to look for a cell which mine was broken. Its awesome to know my car will help me if needed. I love the comfort, the looks. I have people all the time stop me to say its nice!!

Worst engine noise ever - told it is normal. Road noise even with noise cancellation system awful. Nice to look at - not to drive. Gas mileage disappointing. Hate red dash lights and bright chrome in center of dash. GM's answer was sell it, turn the radio up and/or it is only noise get over it. Fuel injectors, fuel pump, valve lifters - sounds like a diesel. Loyal GM owner for 40 plus years - never again.

HAD to trade it before another winter parking it in garage for fear of sliding off roads! So shopped domestic & import sedans, went into GMC-Buick dealer on a whim to check out a gorgeous but pricy LaCrosse. Wandered across the showroom & sat in the GMC Terrain, the wife fell in love! Great/flexible seating position, VERY comfortable seats, nicely equipped base model, attractive interior, plus STUDLY exterior styling which is the polar opposite of the weeny Prius. Have 1200 miles and getting great MPG: 26 city / 31 hwy. Drives solid as a rock. No wimpy RAV4 or CRV for me!!

Purchased mt 2010 terrain on June 11. It was a pleasure to drive. Coming home from vacation on July 3, we were in stop/go traffic on I-95. At a traffic light the car refused to go forward. After pushing the accelerator in moved very slowly and then would pick up speed. We made it home. The car had 1600 miles on it. Dealer cleaned solenoids and car worked fine. July 23 driving on the pa turnpike after stop/go traffic it did the same thing. It took onstar 3 hours to get us towed and a rental. They did the same repair and it worked fine. Coming home on the 28th in stop/go traffic it did it again. The dealer has the car. As of now I don't think I will feel safe driving it again!

I love the looks inside and out/classy. I love the comfort and the ride. I love the color. I was driving a jacked up Jeep Wrangler (which I also loved in a different way) and prior to that I had four Outbacks (which I also loved). This is my favorite. We traded a Lexus IS which is a classy smooth ride and this car is as classy inside. I am pleasantly surprised - wanted another Outback to haul my son to ski practice and races in, and my husband suggested this or the Buick Enclave. I was cynical until I looked at it and drove it. Now I can't stay out of the garage and my husband and son keep finding me hanging out inside. It is just beautiful. Just simply classy. Love it.

This car is by far the best vehicle i have driven. I am 19 years old and was lucky enough to drive my parents h3. It was very nice, but the interior and engine power was really lacking in quality. The interior was alright, but compared to this beautiful brownstone leather with the red trim, it doesn't compare. The V6 is slow in first, but really speeds up in the other gears. (Most likely for fuel efficiency.) Love this car. As for either the ecotech or v6, i had to get the v6 with the hills, I really enjoy the ride. If you don't have hills, you can get away with the ecotech. I am definitely a lead foot driver (college student) and get 17 city and somehow 26 on the highway! Camera is great

My Terrain has worked great for me. I have about 2500 miles driven. I am a 6'2", 375 pound guy who has an artificial leg on one side & a big brace on the other leg. So I needed a car that had great leg room, head room, and belly room. Also needed to set high off ground so getting in & out was easy. The Terrain was my best choice after looking at about 30 different SUVs. It is working great. It has good second row room,& plenty of space in back for big load of groceries or luggage. I also like the smaller size. I have a lift on the back hauling a scooter. I can still fit in parking spaces. I highly recommend it for people needing lots of room up front - it had more than even the biggest SUVs

I can get 32 MPG on highway trips with regular 87 octane gas when I try (real calculated value, not just what the onboard computer states - although it agrees), but I average about 26 MPG on mixed daily commute of about 40 miles. For do-it-yourselfers who change your own oil, be advised you will need a special low-profile socket (about $5.00 online order). The cartridge oil filter is for agile, small hands but manageable. Ride and handling undiminished over the first 6 months. Runs like a top, but it's not a muscle car. With four adult passengers, you can notice the change in shifting points.

Extremely smooth and quiet. Previously owned a 2door Honda Civic. I needed an SUV, but wanted the best gas mileage. After 3 months, 6500 miles, mostly city driving, I've averaged 22 MPG. I've done some long road trips, which have not averaged above 27 MPG. I don't count on the dashboard fuel economy- I record and do my own calculating. Even though the mileage seems low on the highway, I am extremely satisfied with the city, which is the main driving for the car anyway.

The gas mileage is about 19 mpg, with city and highway driving. The fact that the pax seat is not available in power is annoying. It doesn't bother my wife but when I sit in it , it sits too high. No one touch power windows! Come on this is the top of the line model! The turning is awful. I had a Ford Edge before this and I thought that was bad, I didn't realize how good I had it. The 19 inch chrome wheels are sweet, however I worry about some thug stealing the center cover piece that goes over the lug nuts. It is chrome and has the GMC insignia and just snaps off. I can see it falling off if you bump a curb. The vehicle is very popular, hard to find in stock anywhere. Paid 35k loaded

Have had the Terrain for only couple days but have noticed already the lack of storage space or bins. The spare tie takes up the rear storage under the flooring, the glove box doesn't have a lock and could use air vents for the rear seat passengers. These are minor details but should be passed on tho others. I traded a Hyundai Santa Fe for this and that vehicle more storage space/bins and lockable glove box.

Why buy a Terrain? For me it was the promise of best in class highway fuel economy, rated at 32 mpg with the 4 cylinder. Took delivery of my SLT Terrain last December and now have around 7200 miles on the vehicle. My average highway mpg: 25.1! Well says GM, your mileage may vary. OK I get that. But in every case I've driven pure highway (Interstate) miles, I've used cruise control and driven at or below the posted speed limit (sometimes 60, never more than 70). So GM exactly what am I doing wrong? To put in mildly, I'm disgusted with GM and the vehicle after initially loving it. If considering the 4 cyl, do yourself a favor and look at the 6. Or better yet, buy and import!

I had been reviewing it since August 2009 and when it was finally released I had a hard time finding it because not too many dealers had the fully loaded SLT2. I was a little disappointed that the passenger side didn't have the power seats, the gas mileage, and how the car hesitated when trying to pick up speed but other then that I loved it. My car is totaled due to a hit &run every air bag deployed we were saved! Onstar kicked in pretty quick all the airbags from the front & window passenger side, driver side window & stirring wheel and rear passenger airbags deployed.

Glad I bought this truck

I bought the fully loaded (except for going with the 18 inch wheels) SLT2 with V6, entertainment system, etc. I've only had it for 2 weeks now, but I am extremely happy I bought this vehicle. The exterior in carbon black metallic is great - much better than in pictures. And the interior fit and finish is excellent too.

I bought my Onyx Black 2010 GMC Terrain on New Years Eve 2009. I wanted a small SUV with lots of room. I have a champagne taste with a beer pocket book! I researched vehicles for 3 months. I saw this SUV on the Ellen Degeneres Show and fell in love! I had to go to a dealer 100 miles away to find one because no local dealers had any. I have the basic model, as I only drive 2 miles to work and don't need a 4 wheel drive. The standard features alone are incredible, more than any other SUV I looked at! The interior and exterior are beautiful, the ride is fabulous. A tank of gas lasts me two weeks! Never thought I would use the back up camera, but can't live without it! I could go on and on!

When I first saw the new Terrains I absolutely hated the design. We looked for three months and since I would be the primary driver, it was my choice. It came down to a Terrain, an Equinox, or a Kia Sorento. I grew to appreciate the design and after driving it for the weekend, bought it on Monday! We have found not one thing to complain about and we both absolutely love it! We bought the AWD since we live in the country. Gas mileage is good and it is loaded with great options! Great job GMC!

We orderd the car so it would be to our specs. When it arrived after a wait of 90 days it was what we expected On the way home we recognized a loud wind noise from the sunroof. After getting home and inspecting the sunroofwe see it was not fit right. In fact if we would left it that way water would be entering the car on a rainy day. Next day we went to the dealer and he tried to fix the problem. That did not work and he immideatly ordered the parts to fix it.That was on April 15th on to this day ( May 14th) the parts are not available to the dealer. He would like to fix my problem but GMC rather sells cars than fixing their mistakes.Really? Might be the last GM product i buy.

I've put 2,000 miles of local travel so far and no complaints. Sound system nice, red light dash takes a little getting use to, but fun to have. Glad I purchased this model. My husband was kind enough to say "I will buy it for you". His money is not wasted, I love my new ride. The red stitching on the leather seats was a nice surprise. The car has a great solid ride. Very little road noise. With the V-6, I was not expecting to get the best mileage, but it does get about 19 mpg. It will probably get a little better. Still, it only takes about 2 gal a day to go back and forth to work. Yeah for me!

Only off the lot 3 days, my wife and I love our new GMC Terrain. Small enough on the outside that we don't feel like we're driving a boat; but the inside is a different story altogether. Spacious front and rear seats with all the amenities, not to mention that I'm still finding cubbyholes and pockets for storage. Although there's obviously more power than I expected from a 2.4 L engine, it sips gas, it actually gets better mileage than the '04 "Foreign Coupe" we traded! As for the ride, sure it may be bumpy if you're used to riding in the other upscale GM Brand, but if not it's a welcome, relaxing trip on some less than forgiving Oklahoma roads. Truly Bold & Beautiful.

We just bought our Terrain last week and we are loving every minute of it!!! It is already averaging 26 mpg. That will only get better as it gets broke in a little bit. We have 2 small kids and there is plenty of room for the entire family. The low noise is excellent. Handles better than any SUV I've seen on the highway. Exterior design is great.Don't be scared away by the 4 cylinder, it more than holds its own. All this and you get Onstar and XM radio as a standard feature!!! What's left to think about? The Terrain is head and shoulders above the rest. GMC is back on top where it belongs!!!!!!

Have only had for 2 months and it died today. Had to be towed to nearest dealership and will take at least 3 days to fix. This was bad enough, but the service from the dealership and the rules GM has in place for rental car meant I went 8 hours without any transportation. Gas mileage nowhere near advertised. Not nearly as spacious storage as I expected. Overall really wish I had went with another vehicle since the gas mileage that made me want this car is not what is advertised. I am getting 24-25 mpg highway and I drive alot(Nearly 4000 miles in 7 weeks ownership). The dealers response to my car breaking down: "That's why there's a warranty." Not the service I expected from GM.

Overall very pleased with my new vehicle. Traded in Acadia for better milage and newer vehicle with great offer. Very pleased with few exceptions including rear is smaller than I thought (across). Seems they could have done more to make it wider for golf clubs to fit and I miss storage under rear compartment where spare is located. I miss my univerasl remote (foolish not to include this small add on). Four cylinder has enough power for me but wish milage was better on trips even in eco mode. Also why only one month of free onstar. Paid as much for my new LaCrosse and got a year! Still enjoying new Terrain with all its features

Have less than 2000 miles on vehicle. Gas mileage not even close to rated numbers. Reported to dealer and all I get is this "Use the SAME pump at the SAME station with vehicle pointing in the SAME direction with the SAME number of people in vehicle". Is this a crop or what. Here are numbers: Hiway driving (cruise set at 60 MPH) 141.7 mile trip used 9 gallons (thats 15.75 MPG period) City driving 140.2 miles (normal stop and go traffice) with 9 gallons to fill back up (that's 15.58 MPG PERIOD) Dealer says this is not true mileage as there are possiable BUBBLES in tank while filling are fuel pumps regulated and must deliver what is metered out? Instruments say 17 MPG on console

Like others, no where near the 32 MPG advertised. Still a great car. Wife loves it. MUCH quiter than my 2008 Lexus LS. Would trade the Lexus and get a Terrain for myself if there were options available. GMC missing the boat in not marketing this to empty nester retirees, too! We don't need back seat video, but sure would like power passenger seat, rain sensing wipers, push button keyless start and entry, and that sliding back seat needs to be powered! It's a great idea, but it's a bear to move manually. Since auto makers have screwed up the traditional big boat sedans with impossible to load trunks with skinny openings, a vehicle like the Terrain is essential for travel these days.

Just drove five hundred miles after purchase and it was fun. I did have a lead foot and still averaged 22.6 (with almost an eighty mph average). Fit and finish very good. I love the quiet cabin and usb interface. Rain, snow, ice, rain, and snow all handled by awd wonderfully. Son loved to drive and his friends loved the rear seat. Audio was rated 9 by a bunch of sixteen year olds. Smooth ride with a little road vibration at 75 mph. GMC did well with this rig. I hope reliability holds up. Cargo room could be a few cubes more but no worries. I would not hesitate to buy this CUV it is very smooth and nice.

It's kind of a mix feeling. Really like this SUV, but when I see the not so good 19 mpg (city) I'm getting then I'm less happy with my purchase. And I must say that this “mpg” I'm getting is by applying an Ultra-low pressure on the gas pedal...so low that my feet is nearly shaking, imagine the mpg I would get with normal pressure on the gas pedal. I’m really afraid this summer when I’ll have to push the A/C button... My wife Jeep Compass has way better fuel economy with her "aggressive" driving style.

I have owned GMC/Chevy's on and off through out the years, my husband & I bought a Honda a few years back. While that is a nice ride it just is not like riding in an American made /designed vehicle this Terrain will put GMC back on top. I just hope it last as long as my Chevy cavalier (132,000) miles I put on that little car. American made and I am in love once again!!! I drove my wife's GMC Terrain today for the first time today over a long distance. It drives and handles fantastically. The leather seats are very comfortable, and have good support everywhere. Steering is quick and responsive, the navigation system works wonderfully. It got me everywhere I was wanting to go on 8 occasions, except for one time, when I fed in the wrong info, and naturally it didn't work right. I still don't know how to use all of the navigation features, but I hardly ever see that car. We haven't even owned it for two months yet, and it has over 5200 miles on it. Today, in town 35%, and highway 65%, mileage was a very respectable, true, 26.3 mpg. By the way, my wife loves it

Nice interior with lots more space for my 6'2" son in the back than the CTS. Cloth seats with the seat heater is very nice. Looked at several small SUVs and this one was the best of the lot comfort-wise with mpg more than 17/22. 4cyl engine is fine and you will get the gas mileage if you are not a lead-foot driver. I drive 25 miles each way to work everyday, mostly highway and little traffic. My MPG has averaged 26, and that is mixed with a lot of around town driving. I have a lead foot too. Sound system is great, I use the Ipod dock since XM not available in Hawaii. I like the ability to get extra power by pressing the ECO button off. Can really tell the difference for a 4 banger. I haven't had any problems with this vehicle at 5K miles. Got a "this is really a nice car" complement from 14 yr old son's friend. I have to agree

This car looks great in black and SLT-2 trim with chrome accents. Two-tone black/titanium interior is striking. I traded in a 2005 Equinox LT/AWD, which was a nice car and had a great V6/5-speed auto drive train. However, the handling, interior, and GAS MILEAGE of the Terrain 4-cylinder are light years ahead of the old Equinox. The navigation system gives you a larger backup camera monitor, but practically requires a training class to understand how to configure to your liking. Still, it's worth the $2K+ premium. Best feature of all is the unorthodox styling, which really turns heads.

My husband and I ordered my Terrain and could not wait to get it! When it first arrived it was amazing to drive. There is plenty of room for a smaller SUV! We got tons of compliments on the looks both inside and out. I loved driving it. After about 2 weeks I was driving and the gears went out and I could not do anything but put the car in park. It ended up that the oil pump inside the transmission broke. On a brand new car! Not very reassuring! However we are hoping this will be one of our only problems, we still love driving it.

I purchased my Terrain on Jan 30th 2010. I love the design and style. This is my first 2.4 vehicle in a long time. The ride is smooth and quite. A lot more room than the RAV4 or Chevy equinox. The doors open wide for easy access for people who have back problems and the seats are very comfortable with the heated seats. We love the color mocha steel and it is classy. The package is great with all the options. We have a sunroof and upgrade package on the seats. We first saw this car on a TV show called "Medium" where it was introduced. The style of the grill in front was eye catching. Have not checked the mileage yet. Very happy customer.

The 2010 GMC Terrain SLE 2- 6cyl I have has all wheel drive with Stabilitrak. Electronic Stability Control system Driving back on the interstate from Aberdeen, SD on Mar 11th run into 200 miles of 40 MPH cross winds - ice sheet on the road with blowing and drifting snow. Semi’s in the ditch along with an estimate of 30 – 50 cars including SUVs and 4 wheel drives. I watched them flying into the ditch spinning around with loss of rear end traction. Once they lost traction with the rear end the wind would send them flying. 4 wheel drives without rear end posi track would loose rear end traction and wind up sideways and then in the ditch. I sailed right along and passed everything in sight

I bought a FWD 4cyl slt1 a month ago. I have put 1500 miles on it. I haven't had one problem with it. Getting 26 combined mpg (60% city 40% highway). It gets the advertised 32 at about 65 mph. I get about 28-29 mpg at 72 mph. As it breaks in should do even better. I looked at all the other crossovers before I bought this one--Infinitis (ex and fx), Acuras (rdx and mdx), Fords (Edge), Mazda(cx7 and cx9),etc, and the GMC fit my needs perfectly. Right combination of mpg, options, space, etc, at a very good price. Absolutely no regrets. Great car.

Replaced our Ford Explorer and am very glad we did. We could not find one on a lot in this part of the state so we ordered one just like we wanted. For a smaller vehicle the space and comfort is nothing short of outstanding. We opted for the AWD and are still very happy with the break-in mileage with 28 on the highway thus far. Blue Tooth is perfect and the Pioneer sound system is all we expected it to be. iPod port is a great touch and the information system is user friendly enough that the wife loves it. Seat comfort rivals that of many of the "upscale" sedans I have owned in the past. Time will tell but it looks like GMC has hit a home run with the Terrain.

I traded in my 2009 Toyota Corolla because I had many problems with it and it was too small. The gas mileage and roomy interior attracted me to this vehicle. The cargo space in the back isn't too big, but suitable for my needs. The back seat lays down (not flush) to make more room if I need to haul things. I love the OnStar and Satellite radio. It also has heated cloth seats, which is amazing in the winter. If I were to buy one again, I'd want a sun roof and built in DVD players, but otherwise this is the perfect smaller SUV. Good job GMC!

Love the exterior design! Has a lot of pep. Handles well and is fun to drive. A little disappointed that a four cylinder doesn't get better mileage. Averaging 25 mpg. Some cheap interior materials. For the price, thought better quality materials should have been used. Half circle bisected headlight illumination is extremely annoying and limits visibility. Rear seat does not fold flat. Doesn't compare to the quality of my Tahoe, but what I gained in fuel economy ALMOST makes up for it.

Where do I begin with this nightmare. I purchased a Terrain on 26 Feb 2010, and not even 200 miles later (153 to be exact), I was driving home from work and the Terrain started to slow down. The gears seemed "stuck" or having problems changing. I pulled over on the interstate because I was slowing down and UNABLE to accelerate. I drove into a shopping center and tried to reverse into a parking stall, and low and behold the damn thing would NOT REVERSE. It was stuck, only neutral would make it go forward. WOW. I had to tow my 6 day old "brand new" 2010 Terrain back to the dealership. Just my advice, WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR OR AFTER TO BUY A TERRAIN. There are "kinks" that they need to fix first.

It's nice to get up in the morning and have the remote start so it's warmed up to go to work. I bought the SLT-2 V6, and it has just the right amount of power and pickup. For those that don't like the red lighting, I think it's great. For those that said you couldn't read it, maybe you needed eye correction anyway.

This vehicle is unreal. I test drove 12 cars before going with this one. The 4 cyl model drives like a 6 cyl car with all the benefits of a 4 cyl sedan gas mileage. I am getting around 25 mpg in the NYC / Metro area, which is pretty good but not the 32 mpg they boast. It took me 3 months to get this car and it was well worth it. There is NO car that comes close for all the features it contains. I would recommend only the SLE-2 and not the SLE-1. There is a big difference in the amenities and the seat cushions between both. I previously drove a BMW X3 and the amenities on this car are better and the drive is comparable. GMC really did a great job with this car. Get the 18 inch wheels

I did tons of research on all competitors for at least four months before my Envoy lease was up. Drove them all and settled on purchasing (owning)the Terrain. I chose the AWD 4cyl leather seats SLT-1 model. More bang for the buck. Good gas mileage and very comfortable interior. All the Tech stuff is neat. I love the bold/mean exterior look. The vehicle has swagger! My hats off to GMC for building top quality into their vehicles now. I rate the car a No.10. Fit and finish good. The only thing I don't get is why with all the tech stuff built in why GM didn't include a garage door opener. Doesn't make sense. Other than that the SUV is a perfect fit for me.

The Terrain is being advertised on television and the brochure states the vehicle has that option, but I when contacted someone at the 1-800 number, I was informed that that option is not available. Why advertise something that doesn't exist? If it is forthcoming, then state that in the advertisement. I am very disappointed, but overall, I Love My Terrain.

I've had it for three weeks, and have no complaints; it's exactly what I expected based on reviews and research. During this 3 week time, we've had two major (20"+) snowstorms, and the handling was fine on snow covered roads. It doesn't go through and over snow like a sno-cat, but it handles well enough; starting and stopping well while driving sensibly. With the smaller engine, it's no powerhouse, but it's more than adequate; getting all of its rated mileages both highway and city. Dry road handling is much more like a larger car, but with the advantages of a smaller one. It's quiet and smooth, feeling like a high-end Yukon, but much more nimble and agile.

Locks on vehicle replaced after 1 month, carpet replaced because of poor installation (carpet is not secure where it meets under the dash, the dealer told me they all come like this but it looks very cheap and of poor craftmanship never had a car with carpet like this). Not to sure this car handles well in the snow, it seems to slide a lot. Interior roof of car was detatching had to have them secure it. Not to happy about spending time at the Gmc dealership and put in a cheap rental after the purchase on a brand new vehicle.

Data center shows average speed of 33.7 MPH. Anyone else having gas mileage issues? Comofrt is ok with the exception on seat edges while getting out of vehicle, and rear doors are hard to shut. Ride is good and firm and handling is great and the and style is otasite. XM radio is awesome but gas mileage has got to go. It definately won't win any awards for being fast to accelerate from a dead stop. The ride is wonderful coming from a Honda Element, its like heaven. Nice smooth ride, quiet cabin. No problems thus far. Haven't had a chance to test it out in the snow. I hope it's as good as the Element was.

I had been looking at Compact SUVs and a variety of cars for a few years now, and finally settled in on the Terrain. I'm a bigger guy, 6' 4", 290lbs, and I was amazed by how comfortable I am in the car. I could actually stand to put the front seat up a little bit from the farthest back it goes. Passengers were impressed with the room in the back seat as well. The amenities are very nice in the car, and works out to be better pricing than to try to get a feature-heavy Equinox. The 4 cylinder engine carries itself well. You won't confuse it with a Camaro, but it does good with acceleration and I have no complaints. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase--great job GM!

We have owned this vehicle for over 6 weeks and we are very disappointed in the gas mileage. With only 1100 miles so far the best hwy mileage is 17.8. We like the exterior style very much with lots of positive comments coming from strangers. The drivers seat is of the most comfortable seat I have had in a long time. The negatives are: no power passenger seat, no garage door link opener, back-up camera in the rear view mirror is a distraction, no dual heat controls and I can't get used the door lock on the dash. The interior is extremely comfortable, and the locations of all of the controls are perfect for me. The Edmunds review says that the ride gets a little rough with the 19" wheels, but I have to disagree. I did get the 19" wheels, and I do not notice a difference in the ride. I am so glad I purchased this vehicle! It has to be my favorite purchase out of the 9 vehicles I have owned so far.

The wife and I are now expecting and we needed to trade in the Mustang GT for something a little more child friendly. We researched online and drove many vehicles before we decided on the Terrain. Perfect size. By far best looking SUV in its class. Great power for a 2.4 but a big difference from the GT in driving excitement and surprisingly not much difference in mileage. Highway trips in the GT 22- 24 and around town at 19mpg. So far the Terrain's best is 23.5 on a 300 plus mile trip! The worst was 20.1 around town. Doesn't look like the stated mileage will even be close. Keep in mind, this is with my wife driving(Sunday driver).

I've had the Terrain for 3 weeks and I have driven it about 2000 miles. I love just about everything about it. Styling, comfort, standard features, fuel economy are all tops. Coming from my Buick, the 4 cylinder engine feels a little sluggish at the starting line, but it does fine on the highway. I was also very pleased when I checked the mileage with the last 2 fill-ups and average mileage was 28.7 mpg. I have the base model, but it's packed with about every feature I would want and then some. The standard sound system is great. I have rented the RAV4 and the Tuscon and have an Escape at work. I would definitely recommend the Terrain. GMC has definitely put themselves out front with this model

I love the unique look, and the MPG reports in Edmunds from you all helped to sell it. Bought Mocha Steel with Black Leather, Navigation, Sunroof, SLT-1. Plenty of power in the 4 Cylinder, since gas money is important to me, as well as saving gas. I have already put 3M miles in 3.5 weeks, and never sore! Yes, there is a lot of hard plastic, but for $29,000 ($3,225 less than MSRP) you cannot expect luxury. C'mon Edmunds! I have to title my review to indicate that I have the 3.0L V6 because the drop down menu selection does not have anything but the 2.4L engine option for all trims!! End of rant. So, I decided to give Government Motors a chance after being discouraged with my brand of choice for over a decade (Toyota) and boy did they come through with this model. Excellent vehicle overall, but watch out for the very poor 6-speed transmission on the 2.4L 4 cylinder - it is a disaster. The V6 is MUCH better in this department - really compare the two when test driving and you will see what I mean. If you care about a smooth drivetrain, the V6 is the only choice. Quality jury still out.

Have had my Terrian for about 6 weeks and have driven 2200 miles so far. Overall, the vehicle exceeds my expectations. It seems well built, solid and quiet on the road, and is loaded with features. A great value! My one concern (and it's a big one) is highway MPG. With the 4 cylinder, the Terrain is EPA rated at 22 City/32 Highway. So far my "local" mileage has been acceptable, in the 24-26 MPG range however my highway mileage hasn't been any better at 26. My primary reason for picking the Terrain was it's best in class highway mileage, but so far it's not meeting expectation. Hopefully, I'll see improvements in the future as the engine gets more broken in.

LOVE IT!

I was worried about going from a Tahoe to a smaller suv but the Terrian sold me. My husband and I love it and so does everyone that sees it. The interior and exterior design is great. I was looking at the Equinox but GMC just looks better. It's no wonder it's hard to find one. I am very pleased with it and enjoy driving it everyday!

I purchased my SLT-2, 2.4L 4-cyl on December 11. I have been very well pleased with it for the first 1,000 miles. The 4-cyl has been real good for me and I am getting 22 MPG on mostly city driving. I haven't been on the road yet. I would rate the vehicle overall a 9.5. The only problem I have had so far is in very cold weather, the ignition key would not turn off in the last notch so the key could be removed. The dealer has found a defective sencer and has ordered one from GM.

Bought in late sept, wanted 4 cyl but wife fell for the 6 cyl with 19" chrome wheels. Overall love vehicle, drives nice on hwy, quiet, comfortable.Only disappointment is fuel economy, maybe only 15mpg city, 24mpg hwy. The more I read about the 6 the less I like it. I believe they made a mistake with this new engine. Hope i'm proven wrong. Does have good power and can tow 3500 lbs.

I had extensively researched this vehicle for several months before committing to ordering one from the factory. I did a lot of comparisons and believe this beats out all the foreign and domestic competitors. It was interesting to see that some people didn't like the styling over the Equinox, "but to each his own." I think it is a very bold design that sets it apart from others, and my opinion is that it is better looking than many other vehicles and doesn't have the "cookie cutter" styling that so many others have. Lots of compliments. The vehicle has plenty of power with the 4-cylinder engine, and I don't find the 6 speed automatic to have any annoying qualities that some mention.

Every Two years I purchase a new car and in 2009 I purchased the Terrain based Two test drives in a V-6,styling and overall appearance. After checking many sources I decided to get the Four cylinder because of the better gas mileage. Well did I make a big mistake. I have taken Three trips over 400 miles each and the best mileage I got was around 25 MPG. My 2008 Taurus X with a V-6 got almost the same thing on trips. I seen ads they say you can get 600 miles on a tank of gas but I can only get 400 or so.

Just purchased my Terrain a week ago I got a SLE AWD with the 2.4L ecotec. I am so impressed with this suv, It drives like a way more expensive vehicle. The 4 cylinder is very smooth and powerful this motor was rated top 10 engines in wards best engine awards. It is very quiet inside with none of the squeeks and rattles of the older GM products. I highly recommend this suv after owning Audis and other high quality cars I have to say the Terrain is on par with them if not better! Hope GM keeps up the good work with my bailout money.

I tried to fight off purchasing a new vehicle, but saw the Terrain on the road and loved it. I thought it would be bad on gas, actually gets better mileage than my Saturn I traded, and has much more room. I like it that it can tow my motorcycle or my fishing boat. Last but not least, I get more compliments on this vehicle than any other I have purchased. I seriously was giving up on GM after they dropped Oldsmobile,Saturn and Pontiac, 3 of my last four vehicles. But they hooked me with this dang Terrain and saved a customer. Keep up the good work and Ill stay a customer.

Looked at Subaru Outback and Forrester as well as Ford Escape. None could compete with drive, feel or accessories of the GMC Terrain. Almost didn't look at the Terrain but glad I did because I fell in love with it once I drove it. Good acceleration, smooth transmission, great accessories, even the red trim lighting isn't as bad as people make it out to be especially if you use the dimming knob. Have had the car 3 weeks now and have loved every minute of driving the vehicle. The key now is reliability. Will check back in when I have full year under my belt.

We have had our Terrain for about six weeks and have just over 2000 miles. We got the Terrain over the Equinox because my wife liked the styling better. We ordered a 4 cylinder because of the calimed fuel economy. Overall the vehicle is great but after taking two road trips we have averaged only 22-23 mpg with very conservative driving. Around town we are getting from 20 - 22 mpg. Otherwise the vehicle drives well and is maneuverable and is a vast improvement over the Torrent. My wife is very happy with it. If our mileage continues to disappoint I will regret not getting a V6. I'm hoping the mileage improves with break in and after the first oil change.

Traded in '07 GMC Yukon XL. Wanted something to fit in my garage year round -- i.e. a big downsizing move. No need to look for small SUV's - most competing dealers would have lauged me off their lots. Got $1000 for loyalty. 14.2 mpg on first tank. The V6 - 19" chrome wheels make ride way too stiff.

I tested all of the newer Crossovers out there, and when I drove the Terrain, that was it. The handling and the feel felt like a much larger vehicle, and the room in the back seat is uncomparable. It has plenty of power, can't believe it is a 4 cylinder. This vehicle is great to drive, easy to get in and out, and holds all of my things that I travel around with. Work in outside sales and I just love this vehicle. Hooked up my bluetooth and this is just what I needed. Great job GM.

Very comfortable to drive, although a bit stiff on some roads. Quiet, sound system is excellent, love the USB capability (just set up thumb drive from your PC). After 2K miles, mileage on typical commute is about 21 mpg (DIC says 22.4, it's wrong). Getting used to automatic downshift on glide to stop (kicks in at 45 and 35 mph). Big issue is the dead spot at about 35 mph when you want to accelerate into freeway traffic (a brief delay, then the engine kicks in). Visibility to the back corners not good. Went with Terrain since the trim levels were better aligned for me than the Equinox (for 3 months, couldn't find an Equinox anywhere close to my specs). Styling evokes strong responses!

I commute 45 miles a day and needed good gas mileage. I did allot of research on many different crossover's before choosing. This has allot to offer and affordable. All the reviews say the 'Nox is cheaper, but based on the options I wanted (SLT1), you need to step up to the fully loaded Equinox to get some of the same stuff (like leather), which was $2K more. We also found the GM to have the classier interior vs the Chev (albeit slightly). Might be a Canada thing. Just boils down to preference and looks. For us, the Terrain was the better fit and value. Fantastic vehicle though - well executed throughout (and this is coming from a lifetime Honda fan who swore never to buy a GM). Flexible, comfortable, quiet, and compliant. GM sure has stepped up here.

Overall a really great vehicle. I'm very proud it's an American product. They have it 95% right. If GM would only give just a little more thought to the small appointments....coin holder, LED lighting, universal door opener, power passenger seat, maybe a storage drawer on the dash, sunglasses holder, make the cupholder insert removable so it can be cleaned. To GM designers: If you think people do not notice these things, you are crazy. Throw $500 more into these vehicles and give us what we want!

It rides great had a Jeep Liberty Limited and the Terrain feels like a car more than SUV. Very Happy with the features however with in two weeks have a service issue the power lift gate will not open. Went back to dealership and they had problem because its so new they really didn't know why it was not working, they dug in and were able to find a bulletin but unable to get it to work. So now I have a great ride but can not access the back. Very sick feeling. They are ordering a new modular to have on hand so when they really dig into it they think they can fix it. :( sure hope it comes fast. This is not the way I wanted to start my new ownership.

Now have 1,000 miles on the Terrain. Came from an Enclave and in my opinion this is a better built vehicle. With the 4cyl. it will shift less on the hills than the V6 Enclave. First tank full gave 25.1 m.p.g. and the DIC is showing over 26 on this tank. The looks is still growing on me. I preferred the Equinox and the better 1/2 preferred the Terrain. So we compromised and bought the Terrain. Decent seats and good room for 4 people. Better stereo than the Bose in the Enclave.

Now I know why they say GMC fans are the most loyal. Decent acceleration for a 4 cyclinder, very interesting and unique and cool interior. Good stock sound system, great handling. I could go on and on. If your thinking about purchasing a small SUV, be sure to check out the Terrain. I was going to buy a Ford Escape Limited, but the Terrain was FAR nicer. It was incomparable how much nicer the GMC was, Its hard to believe they are in the same class.

Just picked up a Terrain a couple of days ago. I've put about 200 miles on it already, and it's a great vehicle. My last two cars were foreign, and I fully expected this purchase to be foreign as well, but GM has put together an SUV that rocks it's class (Rav4, CRV, Rogue, Santa Fe, etc). I bought the FWD, 4cyl SLE. It comes standard with 3-way power seats, XM Satellite Radio, a backup camera with a 110 degree wide-angle view. The vehicle seats 5 and is fairly punchy for a 4cyl. I had a 4cyl Nissan Altima previously, and this vehicle is comparable off the line. Most important for me however is the 22mpg city/32mpg highway that the Terrain gets, with SUV size & comfort.

We've had it for one week. Overall, great vehicle. Live in Dallas, rolling hills, mostly one driver. Got 23.5 mpg on first tank in combined driving. Seats contoured like bucket seats make it a little difficult getting out, but seats are wide and comfortable even for an older widebody. Also a tad on the firm side. Pick-up is amazing for a 4 cylinder. Plenty of power for our purposes. Can't tell its a 4 unless heavy acceleration onto frwy. Got just the basic vehicle, very impressed with interior layout. Seems like a couple steps above your basic vehicle. Above average sound from standard radio. Its a quiet and comfortable cruiser on the interstate. Recommend it to anyone.

I was looking at the Terrain over the past month as we comparison shopped. We look strongly at the Toyota Venza, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Edge and CR-V. But these couldn't match the standard features, comfort, ride and looks that the Terrain had. I had first taken a new Equinox for a drive and even though it is pretty much the same vehicle, I found the Terrain to have better interior finishes and a more confident stance and feel than it's Chevy counterpart. I also preferred the red ambient lighting compared to the blue of the Equinox. Also liked the truck looking front end better. Ended up with the SLE-2 V6 in Mocha Steel.

Enjoy this truck, despite having used a p/u for most of my driving life. With this truck, I get out, not climb up&out. Has a decent traffic presence and forward view. I've had this Jimmy for 2 weeks and have 2600 miles, driving 4 hrs/200 m round trip while getting 28mpg. Adequate power for hills and stop lights and great brakes. Overall happy with this truck. Hard to keep my wife out of driver's seat! Complaints? The climate control won't settle on heat or cooling; it overcompensates (due to cabin t-stat location?). At 6', 238, I find the seat way too narrow for extended comfort; the lower seatback seems non- existent, causing a slumped posture. Very intrusive blind-spots!

Waited 5 months after I heard about this new model to get into one. Should have waited a little longer. Dealership had only SLE1s available, while I wanted SLE2. It lacks key features for me and needs a 6 cyl rather than a 4. Power on cold takeoff doesnt exist. Coming from a 4 cyl turbo, its a bit doggy but that's just personal: no fault of maker. Im getting less than 22mpg after three weeks so thats not good either. Love everything about it otherwise. I wouldn't recommend the SLE1 to music lovers, cellphone users, etc. Sound system is woefully lacking. Backup camera is ok but useless in rain/snow. Go for the SLE2 and higher. You will be absolutely thrilled!

Wanted a Hybrid for mileage purpose; however, dealer said we would not be disappointed, and they were right. Nice ride, comfortable, quiet, you need to upgrade from base model to really get the true vehicle. Price is right, especially for the size and mileage. Nice to drive and oh so quiet. The back up camera is absolutely terrific. I only have the 4 cylinder but the engine seems to have plenty of pick up. I may get beat from a stop but after that no trouble keeping up with the pack. Oh, when they stop for gas I'll be miles down the road. This is just a great car.

Waited 5 weeks to get an SLT-2 with a 6 cylinder and MSRP of $31,495 for my wife. Traded a Honda CRV and this beats it so far. It's small and simple like the CRV but the ride quality is far superior. With the back seat pushed forward (that's the way my dog likes it) the cargo area is bigger than the specs make it seem. This may seem crazy but I drive a 6 cylinder Porsche Cayenne and the Terrain, while not handling as nifty as the Porsche, has a ride quality and practicality that actually make it the vehicle of choice for driving excursions out of town. So far, I think GMC has hit a home run with this.

After driving imports for a number of years, I stumbled across the 2010 GMC Terrain. Despite serious reservations about American quality, the style and design of the Terrain caught my attention. Bold exterior styling sets the Terrain apart from gang of crossover clones. The interior is remarkably well done. Being 6'3" , sufficient leg and head room are often a problem. The Terrain is the first vehicle offering room to spare. The technology is first rate. Radio, DVD, navigation and bluetooth interface work well. In fact, systems interact almost seamlessly. he Terrain is quiet and comfortable.. Power is adequate. Fit and finish could still improve. Overall a great American Car!

Because of past experience, we didn't even consider buying American. Then we saw a Terrain add, did online searches and read reviews. After visiting the dealer and test driving, we were sold on a SLT-2. Drives solid, quiet, and handles better than the foreigners. The interior is functional, spacious and beautiful. The exterior is cutting edge, macho, yet elegant. The chrome wheels rock. I was glad to suppport American industry again after 30 yrs. of buying foreign

We looked at a dodge Journey (not impressed at all) a buick enclave (way to pricey)a Ford Escape ( nice but didn't have the features that the terrain has) and a Chevy Equinox ( also nice but compared to the the terrain it just felt cheap). No one could match the quality, price, warranty, and EMG of the Terrain.

We picked this vehicle yesterday It's a really Great looking vehicle. It's a little too soon to tell how well it'll be in the long run. But everyone we show it to really thinks it's great with the chrome 19"wheels and SLT-2 body style. But with the 19"wheels a lot of the smooth ride is gone stay with the smaller wheels for a smoother ride.

Awesome!!!!!

We just got our Terrain last saturday. We LOVE this truck. YOu dont feel like your in a huge suv but it has plenty of room. We love the electronics on it. LOVE onstar. The backup camera is very nice. I got into it the other day and a message came up on the nav screen with weather information in the city we are in. It told me about tornado severe thunderstorms and flooding. Where it was and when the storms would pass. As usual Gm did another fantastic job with this truck. You would NOT be disappointed! It beats the competition by miles!

Totally blown away by this vehicle, Ride & handling experience, I went all out and fully loaded with, NAV, DVD you name it we got it everything but AWD. GM hit this one out of the park. A real head turner everyone wondering what it is. Macho, masculine, pug nose bulldog It's an ALL TERRAIN-ING experience driving this vehicle. The 6 cylinder is machismo!!! Equinox is sweet but Terrain is sweeter! Well done GM well done !!

Fantastic!!!!

We just got home with our new Terrain. We looked at Yukons and Enclaves. We had a Yukon Denali and LOVED IT!!!!!!! This little suv is the little engine that could and DOES! It has stylish looks, a bit agressive. Love the electronics! Wish it had cooled seats like the Enclave and other siblings! We could have spent alot more there was no point. It also has the power to tow our sea doo. Nav system is cool! LOVE IT!

This a great vehicle. I am taller than most people and find that it has more than enough space for me from leg room to head room. If you are looking for great compact SUV this your car. You cannot beat it when comes to all the features you get for the price.

This is quite simple, drive it then buy it. This is an extra vehicle in our household. We could afford to buy almost anything on wheels but decided on this because of the styling, ride etc. GM surpassed my expectations. Why couldn't GM have built these type of vehicles years ago??
