This car is definitely a good buy for me. I like to have a little space without having to shell out more money for a truck. It has been really reliable for me throughout the first year even though I do routine maintenance.

Research before you buy one!

Stabilitrak Off/Traction Control Off/Service Stabilitrak light coming on. Can not find an issue in the vehicle even after having it taken in 3 times. Apparently this warning means about 1,000 different things could be wrong with the vehicle. I actually made it 21 miles home from leaving the service department this time before it came on. Please, please do your research on this. There are hundreds of complaints on the issue and evidently GM does nothing about it because it is a continuing issue!!

I purchased this 2009 chevy equniox for my used 3 years ago with 50,000 miles on it. When we purchased it finish was starting to come off on the controls, but not bad. Everything was good for the first year then the problems started. First was the drivers door lock would not work with the fob after 2 years. You had to use the Manuel key. Then the third year the service tration control light came on. Then the service engine light. Then the trasmission started slipping. The vehicle started going down quick. Yesterday I decided it was time to trade it in @ 81,00 miles and it was such a relief. Chevy is not what it used to be. A friend that is a chevy mechanic told us that the head gasket would need to be replaced soon because that is a very common problem. The resale value is also poor. Trade in was only $2,500 -$3,500. We still owed $8,000 on it so we ended up paying Msrp to get the suv paid off. Lesson learned. I bought a new hyundai sonata and bought my wife a new kia sorento. 100,000 mile warranty and best rated for reliability.

Bought this vehicle after considerable research. My decision came down to the Audi Q5 3.2 or Eq Sport. I like/ own Audis, although now overpriced. Very similar power, comparable handling, interior room, and amenities. Obviously, big difference in cachet, resale value and sticker price. Athough there are many choices in this vehicle class, these two stood out for handling and performance, without going to a Porsche or BWM (way overpriced/valued). After driving for 27 months/36000 miles, this was a great choice. Other than minor issues with bluetooth, this has been a solid vehicle, with NO problems, interior holding up well, despite heavy use/athletic gear hauling. Fuel use more than expecte

Well im 26000 kilometers and 17 months into ownership. So far i have replaced a Axel Seal, the Radio reciever, had to bring it in to get my XM fixed and currently it is the shop because my drivers door lock and power window is not operational and my Xm isnt working again and my check engine light has been flashing on and off for months. Now there are a few unsolved problems i have had too, Occasionally it makes loud knock while cornering, the transmission occasionally slips, once after a road trip there was a strong burning smell coming from the vents and i have had to boost it multiple times this winter even when it was plugged in. Trading it in at a loss as soon as i find something else

Purchased vehicle new and have put over 33,000 miles in 14 months. Love everything about this vehicle. Great comfort on long drives ( 2 vacations totaling over 5200 miles )Gas milage went from approx 25 mpg to over 30mpg after changing tires to Goodyear Assurance FuelMax.

Although it has a lot of good features it is very unreliable since you must drive it long distances to keep the battery charged or leave it running if you are making a lot of short stops. If it sits more than 2 days you have a dead battery. The dealer can not seem to find the problem. The console is awkward to use where there are two people in the car. The defrosters and most vents come through outside air and across the engine. The air bounces off the window and into your eyes and bringing the toxins from the engine with it and stinging eyes and causing congestion. My small pickup has a better turning radius. I will take a lose trading it in for something other than a Chevrolet.

Have owned since new for 18 months; mileage is good on highway; general comfort is as good as any in price/vehicle type category. @ complaints: 1. Road noise on highway is higher than expected. 2. The lack of a dash mounted rear hatch release control is annoying. It's a very roomy and functional SUV in it's class.

I actually bought a 2006 model off the showroom floor. wanted to add my 2 cents. I liked the interior/exterior look of it and the gas mileage is decent. Lots of options on mine. Biggest issues are that the electrical system has never worked right. Had it fixed under warranty but now other elec. components aren't working. Junky cup holders and the turning radius is wide. good luck in a parking garage! Also the tailgate lift hydraulics go bad fast and those things are EXPENSIVE to replace! Mine went bad less than two years and now, two years later, they are bad again.Break comp. went bad fast too. you feel acceleration switch Cargo room is nice though for its class. Great backseat leg space

Had been looking at new equinox but decided to save some money and go used. The biggest worry was the Stablelizer light but found it only came on when the bumps on the highway were terrible. Drives great, acceleration great. The gas mileage is fine. Didn't buy it for that. Bought a cup holder that sits higher and works great. The controls in the center are too low and hard to see while driving so I don't mess with them unless I am off the road. I can deal with it for the price I got!!

I have only owned Honda or Ford SUVs. Purchased in July 09, looked and test drove several. Read reviews. This was the last on the lot. Loved the car in the beginning. First, the Onstar battery had to be replaced. Second, there is a knocking noise when I turn the steering wheel. Been to the dealership 3 times. The first 2 times, they couldn't hear anything, the last time they heard a slight noise, but no explanation as to why I continue to hear this noise. Don't want the hassle of going through the lemon law. I hate having to pay for a truck that feels like a piece of crap. It's the first and last time buying a Chevy.

Trouble For some reason when we put the key in the ignition it will not start until you play with the wheel. It will start with the remote. This has happened twice in the last two days - takes 10- 15 minutes and some sort of luck to get it to start

This car gets terrible gas mileage and has many defects. At 24000 miles the gas gauge quit working, the fan constantly cuts in and out with the AC, and now with just 46000 mikles the transmission seal is leaking (not covered under extended warranty) and a bad spark plug wire fouled a spark plug and ruined the fuel injection system all not covered under warranty! All factory items, had the dealership always change the oil and perform routine maintenance yet the original spark plug and wire is bad. Terrible service and terrible quality. I will never owen another Chevy product again.

I have had major problems with this vehicle, the ABS light, brake light and 4 wheel drive not working light continuously appear on the dashboard. The dealer has tried to fix the problem multiple times but is unable to. The vehicle has been out of service for more than 30 days. I am trying to return it under the lemon law but GM is fighting me. I would not purchase a GM vehicle again.

I picked up an 09' equinox after completing many hours of reviewing. What I like most about the vehicle is that all of the 'kinks' have been fixed since 2005. The seats are comfortable; outside design is nice (2010 owners, you win!); drives like a truck (which is fine); gas mileage is ok (nothing to brag about).. overall it's a sturdy vehicle. I would have picked up an 2010 model if I racked up ++ miles, however, I do not drive enough to take full receive full benefit of the gas savings. The way I look at it, it would cost me $1000/20000km (I'm CDN) more running this vehicle than the 2010 model. I only drive 5-10k/yr and keep my vehicles for 5-6 years; therefore, costing $2000 more in gas.

I bought my 2009 Equinox to replace a 2002 Trailblazer. The vehicle I love except I could use more room in the back to haul things. I can not haul four golf bags and four golfers. Other then that I think it is a great vehicle. Very well deck out with options.

Well i couldn't pass up the huge rebates even though i kinda regret it now just because the 2010's are so darn sexy. However i am still pleased and my wife is extremely pleased with our current equinox. Still i prefer the 2009 equinox to the competitions compact suv's.

my nox is a really good vehicle. I use it like it were a truck, which is what i traded in for it. I had a really bad experience trying to hook a trailer four way plug to it. Now i am trying to hook a 7 prong plug to pull a small pop up camper. I found out that it has some weird electrical system that needs a special something in line. If you don't use it the cars module will blow out, cost around eight hundred dollars to replace. it has something to do with the lights being separate. any help would be happily used.

We looked at a lot of suvs and crossovers. We knew as soon as we drove the Equinox Sport that this was a great vehicle. Great Power and Handling. It can tow my boat, because it has a 3500 lb towing capacity. Has good gas mileage if you do not race around. The warranty is great. Equinox is fun to drive and very versatile.

Test drove escape, rav4, crv, Hyundai Santa Fe. All in all my first choice for interior comfort was the Santa Fe by a large margin. The equinox is simple and cheap feeling, but for the steep discount I got, I couldn't pass it up. Msrp 29,035, purchase price 18,766, lt with lt2, chrome wheels, sun roof, pioneer stereo, leather and heated seats. Runs and feels Nice, but at this point I am still missing the luxury feel that I couldn have had with the limted Santa Fe. Other issue- cheapskate design, no hatch release inside the car? no dome light or hatch light? cmon gm, that is just so lame, have some pride in what your putting on the market. No excuse to be that cheap.

My whole car shopping experience was done on line. I read all test drives and owner reviews of several vehicles. I used Edmunds calculations for a fair deal. Eliminating vehicles one by one, I was down to the Equinox. It was love at first sight. I test drove it and we were "one with the road immediately". I have taken several trips in complete comfort. I have to admit to being a senior citizen and thought I was going to have to give up night driving. The Equinox puts me slightly above the lights of most oncoming traffic and I have no trouble at all now. The all around vision is very good and the size is perfect for me. I bought the Silver Ice. Love this vehicle! Highly recommended.

I found this SUV to be a good alternative to my 2003 Lexus RX 300. It has good room and handles well. It seems to understeer a little but no problems. It's functional even though ite interior quality is a little inferior. Splash guard below door extends out too far and interferes when exiting.

Quite a difference going from a Dodge Quad Cab to the SUV, but it was time. The Equinox has everything I was looking for, power, handling, room, looks, etc. After the 1st week (7 days)of ownership, I still had gas from the full tank I left with from the dealership! The 0 to 60 in what feels like 5 seconds really comes in handy when entering the highway in Houston, it's like hitting the "nitro" button! The steering is quite tight and responsive.

My wife and I recently traded a 2006 Grand Caravan for a 2009 Equinox 2LT. We wanted something a bit smaller and more modern and the Equinox really fits what we were looking for. The styling is great. The controls are far more advanced than GM used to put on their vehicles. The handling is tight. The seats are comfortable. We totally happy with this decision. We looked at many of it's competitors, and liked the Equinox the best by far. Anyone thinking that GM still doesn't make vehicles that consumers want should take a look at the Equinox.
