I have driven many Toyotas over the years, and they have all been engineered with rock solid precision and very high quality inner workings... until this car. It may be that 2007 was the low point of Toyota's quality slump. I bought this car used at about 135000 miles. From previous experience, that's not even halfway to end of life for a Camry. At first it was a pleasure to drive -- leather interior, JBL sound, smooth ride with little engine noise. However, at 145000 miles suddenly we had to have the transmission replaced (not repaired) -- a $3800 expense. At 153000 miles it started leaking transmission fluid, and at 155000 I've had to park the thing because of the $900 transmission pump replacement cost. In addition, we've had increasing engine noise, more corrosion problems than I would have expected, and smaller electrical issues. It may be that we've got an outlier, but this is not a car to expect to thrive on the long haul like the 1990s Camrys did.

Camry XLE V6 - excellent. Extremely reliable

This 2007 Camry V6 has been the most reliable and maintenance free car I've every owned(And I've owned at least 20 cars!). I have 130,000 miles on it, only maintenance has been two sets of tires, one set of brake pads, wiper blades and cabin filter. Oil/filter changes are done free of charge by the dealer every 5000 miles. It still has the original battery! The engine is very smooth and powerful(better than my wife's newer BMW). I still get 30 mpg on the highway. It runs the same now as it did 9 years ago. My only very minor complaint about the design is the rear seat should have folded down 60/40 instead of the small pass through. I think the reclining rear seat didn't allow for the folding, poor design choice. No one ever reclines the rear seat. Great car!

We have had great success with this purchase. The dealership was not much help and costly but the vehicle has been very reliable for the past 7 years. No major malfunctions. It does use a little oil. Toyota had a recall on this but with a "Toyota Test" they decided it did not use enough oil to warrant a fix. It uses about a quart over 1500 - 2000 miles.

I previously left my review back in 2012 and now its 2015 and its been better and I had the transmission serviced and now have no issues with the car at all im at 98000 miles and its running strong and the build quality has improved and looks a lot better now that the recalls on dashboard has been done and it fixed a lot of mismatches with the pillars and things and now my car is fully cleaned and detailed and its great to have a car that I trust on the road my car does not burn any oil and that's with me changing the oil every 3000 miles and I haven't missed a oil change and I get 28 to 30 hwy and city I get 25.8 so I haven't gotten 31 mpg yet and I drive the car once a week straight hwy ....

This car had an oil consumption issue. Toyota considers 1 qt. per 1100 miles normal. For me the oil consumption and loss of gas mileage was not acceptable nor normal. The final detail was the resale value. In 2012 I paid $13,000 for the car. In 2015 a Toyota dealer would only give me $3,000 trade in value. This car was a loss from start to finish. No part of the Toyota ad campaign in true.

I was super lucky to come across a 2007 in Super White. My Camry has the optional sunroof but doesn't have the optional JBL stereo system which looking back is definitely an option to have because of Bluetooth. I have a really long commute and the ride is awesome even with the Stiffer Sport Shocks and springs. Braking cam be improved with changing the pads and rotors, diy project coming soon. Overall this is a great purchase at $9,000 -$10,000 with 100,000 miles. The details are in the options so take great care in choosing correctly.

I was fortunate to find a 2007 Camry with great maintenance records that was in great shape. We have thoroughly enjoyed the Camry and it makes an excellent family sedan. One of the most comfortable rides we have been in next to a Lexus.

I purchased my 2007 Camry SE in late 2013 with 117,000 miles. Less than two years later, the odometer reads 168,000. I have had ZERO problems, and I have beat the crap out of this car. Neglected oil changes, bald tires, some body damage, and I NEVER open the hood. It still runs like a dream! It's deceivingly fast, and if it didn't have that dang traction control, I have no doubt it would smoke the tires. I can weave in and out of traffic (yes, I'm that guy) with ease. The seats are comfortable (and I'm a fat, old guy) and there is plenty of headroom. I guess the only complaint is the navigation system. In order to update it, you have to purchase a DVD, for $80-100..cheaper to buy a GPS..it was probably cutting edge technology for 2007. Just filled it today and checked my MPG..it was 28. I LOVE MY CAMRY. First "foreign" (even though it's assembled in the USA) car I've ever owned. Most US cars cannot compare to this little rice rocket!

I've had my Camry for 6 years now. It has never broken down, and I've never had any problems. I feel safe in the car and its got quite a lot of pick up. The build quality is pretty good. Hi, I bought my camry new from the dealership. The only problem I had its that at 70k miles started burning oil a lot, I brough the car to service dep and they told me that is a had gusket, and they fixed cause was under warranty, but the car still burned oil as much as the beginning. I brough back to Toyota and they were saying that the car is to old that's y is burning this much oil. I stop dealing with Toyota service dep. My camry now has 190k still runs good, it doesn't have the same pick up as it used to but still runs good. At 7 years I have changed tires twice, 2 batteries, struts once, a radiator, a lot of adding oil, and oil changes every 5k miles. my new car would be a camry again

I own a 2007 V6 Camry XLE purchased new from a dealer in New Jersey. The vehicle currently has 87,000 + miles and it has been completely trouble free. The only warranty service that I had done to the vehicle under the extended warranty was the oil line for the VVT. (This was done prior to it leaking when I read about the possibility of it failing on the "net!") The vehicle is only serviced by the selling dealer and I change the engine oil and filter at 2,500 miles. (My choice!) ---- (I DO NOT believe in extended oil / filter change intervals!) I do not have any "sludge" in my engine. At every fuel "fill up" I use an upper cylinder lubricant. (Four ounces to every ten gallons.)

I spent a tremendous amount of time researching and comparing vehicles before purchasing my 2007 Toyota Camry 4dr. I bought it new. The viser immediately was broken and I have been to the dealership for recalls several times. The brakes have been squeaking for at least a year every time I back up and so far the three places I took it to cannot fix them. The car also squeals when turning corners and this is after new tires. The biggest hazard is the inability to see out of the back widow. The rear end is too high and impossible to see out of the back. This was my first and last Toyota.

Like many other posters, I bought the Camry based on their reputation but it has been a HUGE dissappointment. Multiple recalls, extended parts warranties, snap-on visors and floor mats falling apart, new struts at 25000, a hard shifting transmission and now I find out about the sludge-prone motor, just to name a few. The most frustrating aspect is that Toyota refuses to be accountable for their mistakes unless forced to, then they still claim 'driver fault' on issues like brakes, sludge and visors. The Service Director at Pat Lobb's Toyota in McKinney even brought up "lemon" in our conversation. But then decided it couldn't be since it made it to 128000 miles. hmm...Very Low Standards!

A Step Backward From Previous Generation

We bought this car based on Toyota's reputation for high quality/value, but were ultimately disappointed. Compared to the previous-generation (2001-06) Camry, the interior of the 2007 - while great LOOKING - is very cheap. Lots of hard, creaky plastics, thin seat material, and very cheap-feeling HVAC controls & some other switchgear. Both sun visors broke internally and would just hang down & had to be replaced (with same poor design). The struts had a reputation for failing early (ours were shot & leaking by 30K miles). Worst of all, the engine began using oil excessively by about 70K miles - which I discovered was common for this (2.4L) engine in all of the vehicles it was used.

I purchased 2007 Camry LE V6 new and enjoyed driving all these years.I put up 73,000 Miles and never had issues other than the normal wear and tear.The best part is the V6 Engine which is quick to accelerate and smooth.My car still rides like new.in one long trip i got 34mpg.Now a days its averaging 24 mgp/hwy.The interior looks good but not great.if you look closely the interior has gaps in the edges and finish is not good. The one think i dont like is the steering.Its bigger.. The seats are getting uncomfortable in the long drives.The cabin is quiet and the car rides smooth.

I bought a Toyota Certified 2007 Camry LE in 2010. I wanted economy in a more roomy package, and reliability. I took advantage of the controversy with all the recalls that year and got my car for a couple thousand less than it would have otherwise sold for without it. I also bought the extended warranty for peace of mind, and I get the oil changed and general service every 5K. So far, the car has been a champ. It may be a bit on the "vanilla" side from a performance and styling standpoint, but it's lived up to the Toyota reputation for quality. The only problem I've encountered are occasional hiccups with the Bluetooth, but not frequent enough to require service.

I was wondering if any one has experienced what I experienced with this car. The radio comes on blasting loud...can't be turned OFF unless I turn OFF the engine. I was so scared and startled when all of the sudden the radio came on very very loud and wont shut off.

I bought this car brand new in 11/8/06 with 107 mile on the odo. Never did anything to the car except for oil change and tires. Replace brakes, spark plug at 100,00 mile and I replace the serpentine belt at 155000 mile. Now my Camry se have 175256 mile on the odo and still counting. i'm waiting to hit 200,000 mile then i will be replacing the water pump, do tune up, brakes all around + rotor, trans flush + filter and coolant flush. then go for another 200,000 miles lol

Got Car in Nov.2011 with 61K miles, Car needed New amp for JBL system , then at 67,051 miles needed Waterpump replacement than at 71,508 miles needed Alternator replacement now im at 73500 miles no issues and keeping the regular service shedule and the car is doing wonderful and up to date on all recalls I currently experience tranny issues only in the winter months when its cold outside if I dont let the car warm up before taking off i use only 93 octan fuel and gumout every 3000 miles replaces both engine air filter and cabin air filter every 9000 miles I think toyota could have done better with covering some of the parts but toyota does whats best for business, not for client tale

Bought the car brand new, took good care of it, maintenance @ the delear ets.., thought I was getting the best value for my money, not so! after 5 years & 54k miles, the gages on my 2007 camry go haywire after I turn on the A/C and/or the radio , the ABS light, the hand break light comes on, also the RPM needle moves erratically, even the dealer cannot dignose the problem, never again will I buy another Toyota car.

I bought this car 2007 Toyota Camry LE 4cylinder last Nov,2006. The car has a mileage of 45,000 . Unfortunately the water pump leaked and the drive belt tensioner needs a replacement. I went to my dealership and I was informed that my car pass the 5 years warranty. I bought the parts at parkway toyota: water pump:$175.00 drive belt tensioner assembly $387.00 + the labor of my mechanic. OEM of toyota is made by AISIN , the drive belt tensioner is Made in Canda by Litens. Todays Toyota car is not the same durability as the previous model. In the near future I'am better off purchasing Nissan or Honda car

I bought my Camry new back in 2006. I now have over 103,000 miles on this car and it is still going strong with barely any problems. I fixed all recall issues which include the floor mat and break pedal they were simple fixes. My water pump does need to be replaced. I already purchased the part and it will only cost $180.00 to have it put on. If you go to the dealer it will cost a little more. Other than that just regular, on time maintenance is all that is needed to properly maintain this car. Even though my husband is an aggressive driver it still has held up. Out of the four cars I've owned the Camry is the most reliable.

I purchased my 2007 Camry LE with 5000 miles. The car has now 57K. I have changed the oil and driven this car ever since I bought it and I am very happy with the purchase. The only problem that I have had was the check engine light came on at about 35k and there was an O2 sensor in the Charcoal Canister. This car is a very reliable car and requires very little maintenance if you treat it right. When you buy this car used with more than 50k, you take on the risk of having problems because you don't know how the previous owner(s) have treated this car, which is the only reason that I can think of about the negative reviews below. Overall, very happy with this car and would definitely buy again

I hate this car! Traded in my Tacoma for a "family" car that has given me nothing but problems! 95K to date. Warranty Fixes: Moon Roof Leak, 3-sets of new brakes and disks, 1-set of new struts, 3-sets of new tires, 1 new tranny and now NON-Warranty Fixes: the water pump went out and rear axle is leaking. Not sure if I am giving up on Toyota entirely, but definitely giving up on Camry.

Bought Toyota Camry based on quality reputation. We have 2001 Highlander also. Begining there were recalls (leak above driver side visor let water in, gas pedal/accelerator/floor mat issue, VVT (sp?) hose, transmission slippage). At 89K miles water pump broke. Dealer said it's $1,400 to replace as V6 models have major labor to remove engine parts to get at pump. I had replaced Ols Intrigue that had same issue at 105K miles and was much cheaper to replace. Will not buy Toyota again...will go with Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, or Hundai Sonata.

Its an expensive commuter/ beater car. Honestly, for the price they charge and what you get, you could find a much funner and more responsive car to drive with a LOAD more features standerd than this. Ive been driving my brother 07 Camry LE and, besides being zippy around town, the positives stop there. The car has 39k on it as of 2012 and, the water pump is going out on it. The paint is HORRIBLE and started flaking when my brother washed it on the front bumper. For the same price, you could get a much better car with a way better warrenty and features. The car has horrible steering and the throttle system is so annoying, it basically feather the throtle for you

The car appeared be be a great vehicle initially. I began to have problems with the transmission early on, but the dealership advised nothing was wrong. Now that I have 120,000 mile on it and out of warranty, they recommend a new transmission. The durability on the flawed designed transmission makes the vehicle a liability at this point. I've read several reviews with the same story. Toyota should have recalled this transmission. That is probably why they changed designs for future models. At this point, I would not recommend anyone to purchase this model vehicle or any other Toyota. It is not a reliable vehicle as they use to advertise. It's garbage. I sell cars for a living and have for the last 40 years. In the 80s it was all honda, nothing else measured up. Now I sell Toyotas. I never purchase new because of the depreciation. I am purchasing a used 2007 Toyota Camry, one owner with 149000 miles on it. The car is brand new inside and out and themileage doesn't bother me at all. It has been checked out by a master Toyota Technician and I am not scared at all because of the miles. People who look at a car and back off of it because of mileage are missing the boat when it comes to a good deal on a valuable piece of merchandise. Toyota is the Manufacturer of the last decade with fit and finish and value. Don,t be afraid to buy one.

This has been the best car I have ever owned...ever! In warmer weather it delivers 45 mpg, in winter 41 mpg. Taken it back to the dealer for oil/filter changes since new; every 3K-5K miles. Drive 97 miles per day commuting to work, mostly highway. Water pump went out at 65K miles, the hybrid drive battery at 72K miles. Dealer ate the labor, I paid $200 for the pump. Toyota covered main hybrid battery completely. Have never changed the brakes. Plan to keep the car forever.

I have been very dissappointed with the 07' SE Toyota Camry. I purchased new and it currently has about 65k. So far I had the rotars resurfaced; reset the right front end fender; and after replacing factory tires, the back of the veicles makes a loud metal rubbing sound. I have taken it back to the dealer and the tire store and they both are unable to "duplicate" the noise. I wish I could get a straight answer. Has anyone experienced this problem? This is the 1st Toyota that I have ever had problems with.

I bought my camry off the showroom floor. It is a 2007 SE. Less than one year from the date of purchase I found myself back in the dealership to purchase NEW tires. The dealer gave me a "discount" and said the factory tires were "softer" therefore wearing out faster. Since then, I have put on 2 more sets of tires, ONE set per year and I in less than a month, I will have to purchase my 4th SET of tires! These tires are not cheap! I bought the camry because of the low maintenance reputation. I was wrong! Did I mention that I have had the two front bearings go out and a water pump? Purchased new in September 2006 to replace a 1999 Camry LE V6 with 225,000 miles on it that I had purchased used. I've replaced the brakes once (will need to replace again soon), the struts once, the battery last month, and changed the oil every 7 to 10,000 miles. I've not had a single problem otherwise (except when a deer ran into it a couple years ago). Not a very exciting car, but a comfortable and reliable one.

I have been a loyal Toyota driver for the last 20 years. The 2007 Camry is first Toyota Lemon I have owned. First year the O2 sensor failed. The air bag covers fall off and need to be reattached regularly. The ignition coil had to be replaced year 3. All day project to change spark plugs. Rear seatbelt failed year 1. Sun visor attached by thin brittle plastic housing, failed year 3. In winter driving the car disables steering to keep you safe if you enter a slide. I prefer to have steering. I would like to sell mine, but I would feel like I was taking advantage of the person buying it.

Purchased my 2007 Camry SE, 4 cylinder, auto brand new in December 2006 to replace a car that was totalled in an accident. The Camry SE with the factory ground effects/spoiler/6-spoke alloys has a much better look than the other Camrys and that is the only reason I purchased it. Chose it over a slightly used 2005 Acura TSX-auto. The black cloth interior and special gauge lighting specific to the Camry SE also helped seal the deal. The Camry SE was comfortable, quiet, reliable, good on gas and as stated earlier, easy on the eyes.

Have to replace front axle (good thing it was under warranty - still under 60,000 miles), now I found all 4 strut was leaking, dealer ask more than $1,400 to replace (out of warranty - over 36,000 miles). before I never believe that Toyota has quality issue but since I have this Camry and more problems found, I believe what people said about quality of Toyota is going down.

After driving a BMW that was braking down at least once a month, and after so much money spent to fix, I am Pretty shocked by some of the reviews Ive read. I have not had any problems with my Camry after almost 4 years and 95,000 miles. never the less I have never done anything to the car but oil changes every five thousand miles. It does have a small rattle on the dashboard and may have to change the rotors soon but after 95000 miles well id have to anyway. Now after reading this reviews I wonder if I should start looking into a different car before I hit 100,000 miles. I was hoping to get a V6 Camry but now Im hesitant.

My 2007 4 cylindercamry has always vibrated in drive with the ac on when stopped. This is how the dealer handled it. First we changed to name brand high test gas. Then we had multiple computer adjustments to 750 rpm at idle. In a short time it dropped to 500 rpm and back to the vibration. Then they did a top engine cleaner at a cost to me of $100.00 now they they say I need a new throttle valve assembly that is defective at a cost of $1000.00 dollars. Toyota will pick up $500.00 but alas it's out of warranty! P. S. Toyota awful. Never again

Bought the car used in December 08 for my daughter's birthday. I heard they were reliable and held their value well. My daughter had no complaints for the first few months. Then, the infamous pedal sticking problem occurred. Thankfully, my daughter was not in an accident. After this happened, I let Toyota know about it and they finally came up with a new pedal system that was absolutely terrible, way too jittery and makes you either accelerate too fast and slip A LOT or go extremely slow and watch everyone pass you. The interior is austere, exterior is alright, fuel economy is not that impressive for a Camry. It is not all that comfortable inside. Overall, the car is average or even below.

Purchased Camry for Toyota's product & service reputation. Within 1000 miles, drive train (transmission) began to shift either very hard, or slipped; had very uncoordinated shifts. Dealers told me I was too sensitive, cptr was still learning, and everything else to make me go away. Most every discrepancy was dismissed, or pencil whipped without maint. Toyota's quality of product AND service have been denied. They finally admitted to a problem, only to dismiss me once again because another Toyota on the lot did the same thing...that's like a tire company saying it's OK and considered normal for a tire to come apart and explode when another tire does the same. I won't purchase another Toyota.

this the 4th toyota i have owned and probably the last. i drive 90% highway miles (hint zero to none use of brakes) and had to replace the rotors and pads at 14,000 miles. Door rattles, 4cyl lacks power for the hills of PA worst when AC is on, but my biggest peeve is when descending down hills at almost any speed the car down shifts into 4th gear and then into 3rd which sends the rpm so high that the pistons could shoot through the hood, not good at all for the motor. i know what Toyota would say that it is to help in braking but i'd rather replace brakes than a motor. will i buy a Toyota again? not likely?

LE V6 189K Update

After i hit 189K the transmission went out. The engine still runs very strong, but it to needs to have two out of the four fuel air sensors replaced which would be $200.00 for one and $300.00 the other two if and when they would go out also cost $$$. The transmission dealer told me it would be around $3100.00 to fix trans, but the car is only valued at around $2000.00 to $4500.00 because of the mileage. I drove the car mostly on the highway putting on around 40K to 50K each year. Just pickup my new 2011 Camry 4 with a 6 speed trans LE model. Will update on this one soon, but as far as the old one goes she was good to me overall. Read the other reviews that i wrote from the beginning for info

After purchase and arriving home, some- one noticed a body brace hanging down. Then I began to notice how flimsy the doors, bumpers,etc. are. Then I began to compare how well doors, trunks, etc fit compared to other makes of autos. About 2 years ago I noticed how paint chips off without noticeable reason. In fact, immediately after purchase and close examination, I noticed chips on the hood and front. Ordered some touch up paint from dealer which didn't work and you would have thought I was buying caviar. Taking your car back to the dealer is too costly, unreal. I recently went in because car would vibrate when braking. Well, this cost over 550 dollars. And I doubt it.

Just passed 80,000 miles and still drives like new. Three issues though; first of all, never use 0w20 oil. My lifters have been tapping ever since I did. Second, I had to replace my brakes after only 8 months. Since then, drilled/slotted rotors w/ ceramic pads still have 50% on them. Third, what the heck is up with the tires? I was literally forced to purchased sports car tires for this sedan! The originals lasted 70k but now I have 40k warranty tires that cost more than the originals AND I've lost an average of 6 mpg! This is stupid!

The worst thing about this car was the push button start. Never own one again, after 1 year the battery in the remote went , the car's computer said it didn't recognize it so wouldn't start, had to use the spare, it took three days to replace the battery, not good. Also when the temperature went below -15c the burglar alarm would go off, so would have to turn it off every half hour. Traded it in on a 09 Venza, key start, a much better car.

Sat in the cockpit of this of the V6 Camry SE 3 yrs ago, test drove and fell in love with it. 3 yrs later, still happy with the choice we made. I love the V6 kick, turning radius is to die for, very roomy interior makes for a great road trip car, do a 6 day, 40- mile/day commute plus some city, yet fill my tank twice/month, that's MPG!. Other than routine maintenance, haven't heard a squeak from this car 30K later. Have had only positive experiences with this car, so no plans to sell or trade this comfortable reliable car anytime soon!

Bought this car thinking it would be a 10 year car. It is now 3.5 yrs old and don't think the car will last past its 5th birthday. The transmission is sick. The dealer isnt the greatest (Servco Pacific). To get warranty work done to fix the jerky transmission is like pulling teeth. Hawaii is warm and poorly designed ac gets smelly. To put a redesigned ac to prevent mold growing, they are going to charge me $338 for a $270 part. Last time I checked, Hawaii is part of the US but according to the dealer, they are not part of the us and can charge whatever they like. Trim panels and rattles will drive you crazy. If you buy used, look up all tech service bulletins and get it fixed!

Even though I bought this Camry used it was very low mileage and should have been as good as new. First it made strange downshift noise, which turns out to be a known problem and the dealer fixed it under warranty. Then there is occasional hesitation on accel as some others have pointed out, which actually have now disappeared after the recall repair. I have a 02 Sienna now 120K and drives like new, and when I crashed my beloved Highlander at 90K it also drives like new. I think with all the electronic tinkering and so called high-tech, the new cars are actually less reliable than the old. This is true for Honda, Nissan, and German cars also.

Just came back from the dealer after trading in my lemon.Trans burned out-yes a Toyota Camry with a burnt trans at 110,000 and I babied the car for the 3 years it lived.Quote was $4500 new $2000 used trans.This was after $1300 blown #1 manifold 3 months earlier and the blown oil line $400 mentioned here before. Car was a gem up to 75,000 then my check book opened. Trans slippage between 1st and 2nd gear occurred since new and 1 day trans just blew. My letter to Toyota will sit on the pile they already have. My last cars were a 2000 sonata which i sold with 100k, then i had a mazda 6 for a few year. I brought this as my wife`s and our kid baby carrier. I was aware of the hesitation and did test drive 2. Compared to my 5 speed Jetta it lacks in finish, performance and handling but it's a different beast.I looked for post June build date in 07 where all the problems suddenly disappeared per all research i did.

Oil Consumption

This is our second Camry. First was a 2000 model. After 6 great years with our first Camry we decided to purchase a newly designed 2007. We love the styling inside and out. The only real problem with our car is the oil consumption. at 80k is uses about a quart every 1500 miles. We did research and found other Camry owners with same problem or worse. Toyota has an oil consumption category in the owners manual that states it may use up to 1.1 quarts every 600 miles. NOW COME ON! Who else has that category? My family has owned Toyota for many years. We are now looking for a new vehicle. This makes it very difficult to buy another Toyota. Where has the quality gone?

Ok. So I went to buy a Honda at the Honda dealership and at the time I couldn't afford a new one and the old ones had to many miles. So they had an 07 Camry. I thought Toyota are safe. Why not? At first I had no problems. After about 2 years that's when the recalls came. I had 4 on my car. Then it just start falling apart. Poor transmission that was jerking. Cheap paint that was coming off every time I washed it. My wife was scared to drive it because of the recalls. So I decided to trade it for a new one. The Toyota dealership didn't want to give me anything for the trade. Talking about safety issues. WHAT! It's your car. Anyway, traded it for a Honda Accord. What I should have got the first time.

I have read a lot of bad reviews on here about other peoples Camrys but I have never had any problems. Gas mileage is unreal! Anytime anyone rides in my car they gives compliments about the interior. Overall I have been very pleased with my Camry. It's just sad that all the recalls have truly hurt Toyotas reputation. I think they are still the most reliable cars on the road though!

No Regrets

After 64K miles, and despite a rear- wheel bearing that went out at 37K miles ($450), I can say with confidence I'd buy this car again. It's extremely comfortable, gets great gas mileage, has plenty of power (V6) and most importantly, it's extremely reliable. I'm not crazy about the cloth door armrests, but the interior has held up extremely well and still looks new. Best of all, if I get stopped for speeding, I can always claim it was a stuck accelerator!

Purchased car 12/27/06 besides having the oil line replaced when I hit 120K and then again most recently for the three recalls which was the floor mats, oil line, gas pedal the car is still running strong. First tune up, trans serviced was done at 120K. No problems with the transmission so far. Make sure when it comes time to replace tires they are V rated. Had unknown tire dealer sell me H rated tires which he claims would be just as good, but come to find out the V rated tires are stiffer than the H rated tires which in turn when hitting pot holes damages the steel wheels.

Car is my office. 5,000 miles per month and 5,000 minutes on the bluetooth(echo/response needs improve). Drive in upper midwest and wish it had AWD. Not good in wet or snow. Tires-on third set. Got 75000 from factory Michelins and 100,000 from replacement Michelins(rotated every 5,000) Memory seats would be nice. Visibility is an issue that took some getting use to. No transmission problems. Love everything about Ricky but the snow and rain handling. Next car will be AWD, probably 2010 Subaru Lecacy 4 door sedan.

Sure my Toyota looks nice and is comfortable to ride in. My 2007 Camry has 78k miles on it so it's safe to say I drive it A LOT. Here's the problem things shake loose. The driver's side visor fell off, the curtain side airbag panel falls off constantly, the recalls galore and now today, the lock for the glove compartment fell off. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I'm selling it at a loss and buying a new car. One that holds up.

This my 3rd brand new Toyotas. After 2.5 yrs+ ownship, the 2955 miles on the odometer is my testimony of this car bought brand new in Aug 07 and most miles are going to the dealers to get things fixed,inc. sunroof adjustment,replacement of leather driver seat cover,disformed windshield molding,rattles/squeaks,SAFETY RECALLS. I don't want to drive the car at all. All the rattles/squeaks drive me crazy and want to just crash it. I am still driving my old rear-ended-legally- totalled-but-mechanically-perfect 97 V6 Carmy LE very day and enjoy every mile on it. But this 07 top-of-the- line is a very different story. With all the choices in the $30K+ segment, this is very likely my last Toyota/Lexus.

I owned total 4 generations of Camry, this 5th gen is not a Camry any more. I made a big mi to trade in my 2001 Highlander 1st: Transmission up-shift is a design flaw, and it could be dangerous when enter freeway by merging ramp, at speed 35mph , there will be no acceleration when you floorboard it, my Camry was like a horse refused to run, stood still. The fear was that the car behind might rear end you. 2nd: Interior looks so cheap, over-engineering the control panel. Heater is intermittently change temp it self. Speedometer is too bright , make it hard to tell whether the headlight is on or off. -The handle grip on driver side got broken for no reason. 3rd: Exterior bumper paint was chipped

I purchased two 2007 Camry's the same day; one for my wife and one for my daughter. My daughters has been great from day one, my wifes although it was always dependable had engine hesitation and the drivers sun visor continually fell off into the drivers lap every time you tried to move it up or down. With Toyota's current problems I decided to dump it and buy a Volvo. Yes, I took it back to the dealer several times and finally got tired of dealing with them - now ai don't have to.

I have had one previous Camry - a 1995 - and loved it. Traded it in at 195K miles for the 2007. This car has been a disappointment. Paint job is terrible, it scratches very easily and does not buff out. Interior made very cheaply. The big kicker is I have it in the shop right now and the transmission must be replaced - $2500! I didn't have the hesitation I hear many complaining about so not even a warning. It happened very suddenly and turned 100K miles just a couple weeks ago. Wish it was still under warranty. No more Toyotas!!

Having had Hondas since 1976 when the original Accord first was introduced and having no major problems with any of them, I made a poor decision to purchase a Toyota Camry. The Smart Start malfunctioned three times and left me stranded in far off places. The radio scanned on its own. The struts leaked and had to be replaced. And now a wheel bearing shot. $718.00. All the aforementioned, except the wheel bearing under 36,000 miles. The wheel bearing at 37,000 just after the warranty is up. Now the recall because of the accelerator. The car is a lemon.

I have had 3 other Camrys all were great, the 07's and up are junk..... I had a 05 Camry and I loved it, wish I never traded it in. This 07 Camry has been nothing but problems. I went to a car wash and the cheep paint came off the bumper, the trans has had problems, shifts weird, I have has 4 radios, and the power seat is broken. The dealership was no help at all, I had the car for 8 months with only 65k on it, traded it in for a 09 Honda Accord EXL V6 and Love it, I will NEVER buy a Toyota again!!!

My biggest complaint is the engine noise. I can hear the car even with the radio on. I compared it with a friend's Camry, same model and did not notice the noise. It has been to the dealer twice with this complaint, but they find nothing wrong with it. The leather seats in my '04 were much nicer. The trunk got tiny scratches on it the first time it went to the car wash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews in that I think Toyota got a little too relaxed about its quality rating.

This was the car of my dreams the new royal blue, it was awesome. Until one day I was trying to excel into oncoming traffic on I-40 the throttle hangs and I almost get hit. I took it in to the dealer, they did not know what to do about it and said they would not know until Sept. This was in June? So what am I suppose to do until then? In the meantime, it happens 3 more times. finally by sept a fix comes out to reprogram the computer and erace your driving patterns. Worked for a little while but it started again. This has been the most disappointing car I have ever had. My tires wear out in less than 20,000 and always on the back first.

This is my 3rd Camry. The 2007- good car, disappointing is tire wear and alignment, the tires showed excessive wear at 18,000 miles. One alignment by the dealer no help - tires continue to wear and is pretty much gone at 29,000. Dealer suggested replace tires.

In general I am pleased with my Camry. At 35k miles I have had no transmission problems that others mention, nor any other mechanical issues. My major complaint is the cheap rubber from the factory, the tires wore out long before normal expectation. I made the mistake of buying the tires for life warranty which is a joke; the tread is measured and will not be replaced until nearly bald way past most people's safety level. I was also not pleased with the noise, my prior Camrys were much quieter. I have owned two Camrys prior and several Celicas & Corollas as well. I will continue to drive Toyotas.

Just hitting 3 years, still can't wait to get rid of it. My wife has been driving it mostly, I use it once in awhile and still hate the driver seat. About as soft and supportive as a bean bag chair. MPG still great for a V-6. Car has more than enough power but the suspension is worthless. Too much body roll and when I take a turn, I find I need to hold myself in seat by elbowing the pass. seat. I'm in need of tires {Again}. I don't drive aggressive but needing a THIRD set of tires in 45K miles? Unacceptable. Acura TL here I come...

I owned a 89 Camry during my college days and that car went through some rough patches. I doubt this one would go through the same treatment. It would probably break in half before going through half of the stuff the 89 model went through. The exterior shape is a lot better than the 05-06 models which looked like grandma model. One thing I had noticed when car is still cold is that it shakes and the passenger seat and the dash start to rattle a bit but once warm and car on the move, it seems fine. Overall, no problems with the car.

I purchased my car based on having owned two other Toyotas in the past. I so regret buying this car. I should have waited and purchased an Acura. There is something seriously wrong with the transmission; it does not want to change and this is getting worse. Believe it or not my sun visor is broken on the driver side. Whoever heard of a sun visor breaking. Anyway whatever keeps it up, the spring, etc is broken, you can run your hand across the top and see that it has popped open. Of course I can get it fixed for about $200 at the dealer. I have a 2000 Camry and it is better than this one. Oh did I mention that the carpet I had replaced now has another hole in it. Never Again!

Having owned 2 Camrys and 2 Corollas, I was a very happy Toyota owner for 20 years. However this car is just not very good compared to those. Poor quality. Cheap, cheap, cheap plastic parts. So many squeaks and noises that the dealer hasn't been able to fix. Just disappointed overall. This Camry has been in for more repairs in two years than all of my others combined.

Bought this car based on owning other Toyotas. After slowing down, transmission has to be "kicked" to speed up. Doesn't have quick pickup to pass or after complete stop. Visibility terrible due to airbags and head rests. Can't believe any engineer would pass these defects. All tires replaced 26,000 and two more a year later. Every maintenance appointment brings a new problem. Ride seems comfortable and gas mileage fairly good averaging 26 city and 30 open road. Not like my 1996 model, though.

Thumping Transmission Worrisome

We have about 30000 miles on this car. It gets great gas mileage (around 24 city and 31 hwy). The seats are a bit short under the thigh and the ergonomics don't fit the average American as best they could. The car has become rather sloppy in the corners with pronounced body roll, taking several notches off the fun to drive category. It is a shame too, since that engine is smooth and provides fantastic power for a car this size. Biggest drawback...when accelerating we sometimes get a hard thump. Two Toyota dealers say that is a problem with the drive by wire system...and there is not anything they can or will do. Not sure this car is going to make it 10 years. Trading it in on a Honda.

S.O.S!! Toyota Sinking

The first few months were trouble free and couldn't have been more pleased. Winter arrived and the tires which are rated "All Season" felt like they were bald from the get go. Never buy Bridgestone. Tires wore after only 28,000 miles. The car felt as if the tranny was slipping in cold weather. You can hear it pop out of gear and then the RPMs drop to 800. The vehicle couldn't reproduce the problem at the dealership. I'm starting to lose a quart of oil between changes. Stay far away from Toyota.

I loved the looks of this car more than any other in the price range of 25K to 30K. I previously owned a Toyota 4Runner which had incredible build quality and reliability. However, this Camry is terrible in both aspects. Poor transmission. Cheap plastic dash. Noises and rattles from everywhere. Not very sturdy build.

I still like it after 60k miles. I got one built in Japan. I wonder if the people who have problems with rattles and transmission were built in the US. I have a trailer hitch and trailer and the car does everything I ask of it. I have run from Jersey to Michigan a number of times pulling a load. With no load, punch it while at highway speed and jump to 90mph and leave the traffic behind you. With the 2.4 engine you will not crack 3k rpm until 90mph. Great! I have driven over 500 miles on a tank (all highway driving).

I have had no problems with my Camry and it is pushing 63000 miles. Being a mother who drives a lot I wanted a safe vehicle with good gas mileage and this car delivered that and more. It has never been to the shop, I did replace the tires at 60000 and performed all scheduled maintenance. I have never had one single problem with it. I feel safe when I travel with my family and it looks good for a sedan.

I bought my SE on Superbowl Sunday, 2007. I hardly use it. I've put 6k miles on it in 2.5 years. This is my third Camry ('93, '91) and while this is the first one I bought new, I think it doesn't compare to my old '93. The main problem I have with it is handling. I rarely, if ever, get a good, straight parking maneuver. The added front axle length makes it like driving a shopping cart. The '93, on the other hand, had nearly perfect handling and agility. Also, even though I rarely drive it, somehow I'm losing gas. I estimate around 100 miles to the tank, under 10 mpg. I will have it checked at the dealer. Would I recommend it? No. But, nearly everyone whose seen it loves it.

I bought the Camry because of Toyota reliability and quality. I have two Toyotas (a 2007 Tacoma that is ok, and a 1993 mr2 that is great) but so far I'm satisfied with them. But then came the Camry, what a junky car. Fuel economy is not that great (24mpg mostly highway on cruise control). Rattles from the dashboard that causes you to pump up the volume on the radio. That Camry has a severe lack of power that is not even funny. It feels like a three cylinder car without the fuel economy!!!! And trust me I am not exaggerating. The transmission, I don't know what to tell you, but good luck if you don't learn from my mistake. Just don't do it. I wish I would have read these reviews.

Our Camry is great! It was really comfy but not too quiet but still refine. The DVD player sounds great, but we sometimes complain about the "Welcome to Camry". And most important thing is the engine, even with low hp our Camry is still really fast. So it is great!!!

40800 miles Camry LE 4cyl 5A has been awesome. Just had tires rotated, all four struts leaking significantly and rear brake pads down to 2mm. All struts and rear brakes need replacement. Something is wrong, 4 struts go all at once, at 40000 miles and rear brakes shot? Front brakes usually are replaced twice before rears. Called Toyota Experience, very nice but said it was my problem, out of warranty. Should I question Toyota longevity and unwillingness to stand behind their product??? Toyota is aware of premature rear brake wear and leaking struts. They have issued TSB's. Right not I am not sure if I will go back to Honda.

The reputation of Toyota may have been hard earned in the past but now is quickly waning. The "organic" break pads went out at 36,000 miles. We lost the engine at 40,000 due to the engineers at Toyota putting a rubber piece of hose on the oil return to the top of the engine. Buyer beware! Stay away from this car and don't bank on Toyota any longer!

Watch out for ball-joint failures. Toyota won't cover. Dealer claims there's nothing wrong, but car won't go straight above 45mph. It rattles, the rear shocks thump loud and hard every bump (like the 1996). JBL radio is low quality cd, fm, and mp3 all sound the same. You can't open the rear windows above 30 because of the deafening wind noise. The large trans-tunnel gets hot and is tight to the drives right leg.

I love the looks of my Camry. Super powered, too many speeding tickets already! JBL stereo is good. However, the quality of this car is not acceptable for Toyota standards. Cheap plastic everywhere. Terrible transmission that doesn't shift right. Moonroof has a lot of rattles. Tires only lasted 20000 miles.

Well this is my second 2007 Camry. It is still roomy, comfy, and fun to drive. The power is good for a 4 cylinder 154hp engine. No rattles, I have now 10k miles. I think this car will last and be low maint w.o. a timing belt to change, ownership should be cheap. I am averaging 29 to 30 mpg. I drive mix of light city and highway at 75 mph hwy. The radio gets static when I turn on the rear defrost. Overall the car has a large rear seat big trunk with fold down seats and lots of storage.

Don't like the car at all anymore. Hate the braking system. Funky surge after applying brakes, making you feel like you didn't apply them enough. Locked them up twice because of this. Problems with gears not shifting correctly. Dealer said it was a computer problem and they fixed it - NOT. Still having problems. Press the gas, RPMs go way up, hesitates shifting to the next gear, finally jerks into gear. Headrests are too far forward. Seat belt shoulder harness not low enough (even on lowest setting); cuts across my neck. Console lights dim at night, bright in the day. Passenger side carpet loose. Will be my first and last Toyota.

After two years of ownership

I'm really over this car... For $30k it rattles, the driver window sticks, the rear vents fell off, the tranny is already acting up at 22k miles. This Toyota was made in the USA and I wish I could say that with pride. It's a piece of junk as far as I'm concerned. The design is great, but the implementation of said design in the manufacturing process very poor. Initial quality was lacking and it's only getting worse... It's an OK car all n all. But for the money, I'm rather disappointed.

Cruddy "leather" seat

The side panel of the leather side is vinyl and cracks near the seam. I'm on my second replacement. I use the heated seat in the winter that may be causing problems? Also, the driver's side window is difficult to control how far opens.

Declining Reputation

I bought the Camry because of past reputation. That has gone completely down the drain for Toyota. Maybe they are using bad suppliers or are not engineering for superior reliability now. List of issues I and/or most 2007 owners had: Failed CV Joint 40k, uncorrectable dash rattle, poor tranny performance even with updated ECU flashes, failed brake components. The ride, comfort, and drive is as expected, however, the quality and reputation of yore are completely gone for the flagship Camry. Look at the Accord, they have none of these TSB problems! Big regret, should have waited for the new accord! Just paid $300 to fix the failed brake issue, feels like I own a Chevy!

2007 Toyota Camry - Gutless Wonder

I bought this car for the following reasons, in order of importance: 1) Price (based on features) 2) Safety - front and rear airbags (for the 3 kids) 3) 4-wheel disc brakes 4) Gas Mileage. 5) Reliability (its a Toyota!). The car is gutless, however, and should not be used for passing other cars (I have a 4 cylinder). There have not been any major issues, with the exception of some brake squealing in the beginning, which Toyota fixed. It serves the purpose in which I bought it, and I really do like the roomy interior and the new styling, but there really is no fun factor to it. I still dream of replacing the Camry spot in the driveway with a Corvette.

I've driven Toyotas forever, but I'm afraid this will be my last one. It's not a terrible car by any means, but the quality since they starting building them in America has really slipped. It hasn't broken down on me, but it seems every month there's something new that goes wrong. A panel falls off here, something else falls off over there. Every time I go in for service there's something else they have to replace. Last time it was issues with the steering linkage which still hasn't really been completely fixed. Transmission has a very strange hesitation when shifting. Again, no problems so big it has made the car undriveable, just constant irritations.

Excellent Engine. Excellent exterior design. I feel it was most beautiful car in year 2007-08. Horrible quality of interior. Everything falls apart just by little pull particularly console, curtain bag cover, gear box cover. windshield holding frame makes rubs with windshield glass whenever sudden temperature increase. Smart Key System does not work in various areas of Chicago downtown. I must use physical key to lock unlock car (not sure why).

I have to agree with BCQVETTE, HUGE Mistake. I purchased my used 2007 a couple of months ago and have become increasingly disappointed. After driving it a few days, the interior squeaking and rubbing noises increased so much that I drove to Toyota and had the body shop manager check to see if it had been in a major accident. He didn't feel that it had. The squeaking has progressed to actually being very annoying and now the front end makes strange noises. I also had the leaking roof and the Toyota service dept. charged over $200 to clean the "drain tubing" around the sun roof that became clogged. They attribute this to the previous owner parking under trees. Excessive Paint chipping.

One Bad Investment

This is my first Toyota purchase. I am so disappointed. I wasted my money on this car. One day while my husband and I was in route to Atlanta, the car started jerking. I was asleep but the jerking of the car woke me up. We took the cruise off the car and it settled down. When we returned home, I took the car to a transmission specialist and found out that the transmission is slipping. I was told that the car was sick but not in critical condition. I then took it to the dealership where it was purchased and the head mechanic said that the car ran fine. I said, "Aah heck, it's another Mazda deal." I had almost the exact same problem with a lemon Madza Protege. My warranty will be out soon. HELP!

I have owned my Camry for over 2 years and 30,000 mi. Initially, I loved the car and couldn't drive it enough. Rattles, squeaking, and transmission troubles started shortly after. After several trips to the dealership, I am happy to report that everything has been taken care of. My wife and I were in a serious accident with it and while it was in the shop, we couldn't wait to get it back. Over the month it was in the shop, we rented several different cars and nothing seemed to measure up to the comfort and options of the Camry. Strongly recommend it, just make sure it has been taken to the dealership for the technical bulletins.

Like everyone else, I have the problem with the transmission. Toyota needs to do a recall before someone gets seriously hurt. I also have a problem with a film on the windshield. It's kind of spotty. I've tried to clean it; even took it to a car detail place, but it won't come off. This makes night time driving & driving in wet conditions day or night extremely difficult. The detail place told me they think it's a defect in the windshield. I'm taking the car into the dealership next week to see if they will correct these problems. Other than the above and the wind noise, I really love my Camry.

I purchased a 2007 Camry LE in 2006. I have always purchased Toyotas; buying this one was a mistake and will be my last Toyota purchase. I had to have the carpet in the front replaced because my heel went through it. I explained to the dealer that I have a 2000 Camry (still runs) and never got a hole in the floor; they replaced it after threats. The car does not shift smoothly; hesitates. The paint is chipping so badly, the tires wore too quick. I faithfully get this car serviced, as soon as I can afford to I am going to get a Honda or Acura. My underinflated tire light keeps coming on, according to the dealer I can put nitrogen in the tires to prevent this problem.

Initially, I thought that I was making a good investment as I was the owner of a 1994 Camry in the past. My 1994 Camry was worth every penny I paid for it. My 2007 Camry is NOT worth the money I've invested in it. I paid for quality & all I've gotten thus far is NOT quality . The paint job is terrible. I've gotten too many chippings and scratches. You can't even touch the car unless it will get scratched. I just recently had an accident & now after reading the reviews, It appears the skidding was due to the tires. Tires don't go bad in less than 2 years. I don't feel safe in this car at all. Toyota is saving a lot of money on our expense. I used to believe in the Toyota but NO MORE!

When I bought this car, I was so happy to see Toyota improved the bland styling of the previous model years. I was hooked by its looks, but after driving it for the last two years, I am disappointed. I have had non-stop transmission problems, terrible sunroof noises, very uncharacteristic squeaks and rattles from everywhere in the dash, and unacceptable paint issues.

I'm happy with my Camry. Coming from mini-vans, this is like a sports car for me! The V6 seems like it is a "must" for this particular car. It has a lot of get-up and go. I just had it serviced at 20,000 miles and was told I needed an alignment because my tires were wearing unevenly. I do mostly highway driving and have not hit any potholes, so we're not sure why this happened. I see from other reviews that there are problems with tires needing to be replaced at 20,000 miles. Also, my son has a 94 Camry and the engine runs so quietly. The 2007 is a lot noisier.

I purchased my Camry two years ago and am in love with it today as much as when I drove it off the lot. It handles beautifully on dry pavement or snow. It floats on the road, handles like it's heavy and substantial, but I get great gas mileage - around 30 mpg. It's also very easy to park; turns on a dime. I do a lot of interstate driving, and it's by far the best car I've owned (prior cars were Jetta, Civic, 2 Accords, Altima and Prelude). If you're considering a Camry, you won't regret getting one!

I traded in my 1993 Camry after 14 years and 137000 miles with no problems. This Camry doesn't compare in any way to my old one. It's bigger and drives nice, but there are too many squeaks and rattles in the entire car. Very cheap feeling plastic parts.

My wife and I purchased an '07 Camry in August of 2006. When it's not in the shop, the car runs great. The interior is nice and roomy and the exterior design is beautiful. Unfortunately, we have taken the car to the shop for the sixth time in two years today. It has been in for a rattling sunroof pan within 1 month of purchase; 3 trips for a transmission issue; the radio quit working this summer and needed replaced and now the oil line for the VVTi has ruptured. Per the service manager, Toyota claims that oil from anywhere but Toyota is formulated differently and will erode the line to the point of rupture. The power train warranty will not cover the repair. Next time, I buy Honda!

I have always had the best experiences with a Camry, and my 2007 is no exception from that! I bought it new in 2007 and I have loved it every time I drive it. It is very reliable and comfortable. I love how easily it maneuvers and always runs very quietly. It is so spacious throughout and the way the colors are done inside is nothing short of genius because it is so easy on the eyes! Also, I have close to 30,000 miles on it now and I only need to have my tires rotated every other oil change because there is always perfectly even tread wear on them. This is by far the best car I have ever had!
