Bought my 2007 sonata new. It was a phenomenal car. great gas mileage no issues for years. but when they start they don't stop. Last week spent 200 for a/c maint. now it has trouble starting. Diagnostic tests say nothing wrong. Sometimes get in it turns right over. other times it won't. Door handle on the drivers side fell off in my hand. Rear window motor died.

I traded my 2002 Subaru in for this 2007 Sonata. I barely made 4 payments and now it sits. Was driving home with my children, thankfully I just got off the interstate when I lost complete power. With 4' snow banks along the roads I was lucky to get off the road. Bought a new battery, only for it to drain completely the next day. Bought an alternator, have been trying to replace for the past 4 days. This is the worse design I ever saw! Read on other blogs how Hyundai's are noted for blown alternators because of valve gasket leaks shorting them out. Other Hyundai's have been recalled but not the Sonata. I had to replace the alternator on my Subaru-took less than 15 minutes. As far a gas mileage I barely get 19 mpg city, 21 mpg highway. Very Poor. Don't know if I will ever get another. s

I have had this 2007 Sonata SE V6 since June 2011 (4 years) and it has been a wonderful car to own. I used to live in Texas so the paint has some minor wear thanks the the flaming sun but other than that most people don't seem to notice. I have received many compliments on this car to the point that many people thought is was a brand new car! This car used to be a rental car and I'm impressed how well it has held up since I took ownership! I got this car around 97k miles and it is currently at the 152k mark and it is a trooper. I drove it from the West Texas area to Austin,TX (8 hours of driving) and I had a quarter of a tank of gas left! It gets really good gas mileage on the highway as long as you are in the 60-70 mph range. It gets terrible gas mileage in the city but that's a given for most cars anyway. During my undergraduate degree I drove six hours (one trip, 12 for round trip) from my hometown to my college and I haven't had any major mechanical problems with my Sonata. I'm currently attending Graduate school in Ohio and I have made 2 round trips of 2,224 miles from Texas to Northwest Ohio and I still haven't had any mechanical problems. It still runs and sounds great! It has good acceleration, braking, a quiet cabin and is smooth on the highway. I'm not a big fan of the body roll and the steering but I have dealt with worse. I have had regular maintenance and some major maintenance due to the age of the car. I had to fix the rear axle for the major maintenance but I haven't had any problems with my engine and transmission. My passenger window motor went out probably due to my car transitioning from Texas to Ohio weather and from people opening it all time -_- I have had some problems with the brake lights but the manufacturer recall quickly resolved that issue. If you baby this car and drive non-aggressively it will return the favor. I'm really happy with this car and I hope it continues to thrive!

What hasn't gone wrong???

I HATE this car. I take relatively good care of my car but it is literally falling apart. In the 5 years that I have had it, my driver window dry rotted and had to be replaced, my back passenger window has done the same thing, my driver door handles have both broken (interior completely broke off and exterior won't catch the latch anymore, the passenger side exterior hand literally broke off, my fuzes keep blowing so my airbag and check engine light are constantly on, my airbag had to be replaced on the passenger side, and my visor will not stay up anymore. Should i continue? It was a good first car due to good mpg and safety features, however, in the long run it is proving to be more money and trouble than it's actually worth.

The 6 cylinder 07 Sonata has plenty of pep and the transmission is rather smooth. I have done all the regular maintenance and have gone to the dealer only once to service a recall on the passenger seat air bag. Which, by the way, was not serviced because the sensor chose to operate that day when I took it in, but has been malfunctioning on and off as long as I've had this car since new. The other recall was for the brake light switch that I chose to replace myself. I have a trust problem with all mechanics. The interior materials used are rather cheap. However, some tender loving care will do a lot to preserve it. The car has about 70K miles on it and still runs very smoothly. The paint job is of poor quality and seems to chip fairly easily. I clean it often and polish it regularly. I search often on the Internet for potential problems that others may have endured to maintain this vehicle. 08.16 This vehicle now has over 75000 miles. Since others have had problems with oil leaking onto the alternator, I've re-torqued the valve cover bolts to specification. Admittedly, there were several bolts loose and out of spec. There are no fluid leaks and the engine runs as smoothly as new. There are times when I have to look at the tech. to be sure the engine is on. Exteriorly, the finish is fine except for several paint chips forward and over the front fender well. Interiorly, the driver's side arm rest faux leather has cracked and the plastic on the dash adjacent to the windshield has developed a small crack. All exterior and interior systems work and I've had no mechanical problems. I particularly like the satellite radio for continuous music and the V6 power is mated very well to this transmission. My previous vehicles have been Datsun/Nissans and Toyotas with price to value ratios increasing at a rate beyond what I'm willing to pay. This trial purchase of a Hyundai has been, thus far, successful.

I bought this car used in February 2011 from a private seller with 32k miles on it. FF 2 years, I've since had to replace the headlights EIGHT times (even with the top bulbs from Advance Auto), had to replace the passenger seat due to a random airbag malfunction -- which was annoyingly expensive! --, the paint is slowly but surely beginning to chip on the hood, the passenger door handle literally came off. One night, attempt to open the door, the handle broke off in my hand. And most recently, even having had scheduled, routine maintenance done, the engine now needs to be replaced. After everything I've dealt with, I'm buying another car instead of spending 2 grand to fix an unreliable car.

Not a bad vehicle... Just nothing special...

Purchased this vehicle used with just under 35k miles on it about 2.5 years ago and have put about 25k miles on it since purchase. The car is decently loaded... not as well as others but enough to keep the average person happy. with everything designed to be functional more than luxurious... basically they're meant to go for the longhaul and/or help you not freak out as much do to the cost of the car. The Platinum model I bought has plenty in it and isn't exciting (not my style) but I will say if proper maintenance is done it that it can be EXTREMELY reliable. I can't justify trading it because I've had no issues with it and for that I'm keeping it.

I bought a 2007 new and had to repalce the engine at 71,000 miles. This was completely covered by the factory warranty which I was greatful for. Two years later and 35,000 miles into the 2nd engine it blows again!! I am being told that the whole bottom half of the engine needs to be replaced and that Hyundai is willing to help by paying 1/2 the cost of the repair. While I agree that is a somewhat nice offer I feel they should cover the entire cost of the 2nd new engine. I would still have to pay $2650 out of pocket if they cover half and my confidence in the car's reliability is completely gone. They do not stand behind their car or engine. I am at a loss now.

I have 125k+ Miles on my car and it's still going strong! I was told it gets 21-24 city miles per gallon, but I get 26-31 mpg as long as I'm keeping up with maintenance and what not (air filter changes, oil changes, etc. also have fuel efficient tires) I also drive on cruise control as much as possible which makes a huge difference. the interior is comfortable and roomy, the exterior is pretty standard. No complaints. only repairs I've needed so far were very minor ones that are to be expected or were just standard maintenance (aka windshield wipers, headlights, new brakes, new tires, etc.) but the car runs like a dream.

I've owned 3 Hondas (1 Acura), currently have a Nissan, Porsche and my Hyundai Sonata. Guess which car we take on long trips ? Yes, Hyundai Sonata. Also its my wife's daily car. Its very reliable, no major problems at all so far. It currently has over 170,000 miles on it. Only six years old. NONE of my Hondas including my Acura lasted over 170,000 without a major problem. Neither did my Nissan or Porsche. Its very quite, comfortable, good power. We bought it after careful research comparing Accord and Camry which were WAY overpriced. Few problems I've encountered is the replacing of bulbs often and I'm not a fan of driver's seating position adjuster. Besides that nothing to grip about.

Meh

Personally, I think my boxers are nothing more than a piece of fabric between my body and my zipper. Try telling that to someone that just spent $50 on underwear. If you have a similar attitude towards your car, as a piece of metal between the road and your bum, this will satisfy you. The car has plenty of power for a 4 cyl sedan, more than the 0-60 time leads you to believe, because the transmission is so slushy that you can spin the front wheels at will thanks to a 2000-rpm spread between cruise and go. Textbook slushbox. The steering and directional stability are horrible. The interior fabric still smells like cigs in very hot sun over a year after ONE cigarette was smoked in it.

A few problems but OK overall

As many others stated both of my visors broke. This is a safety hazard and its sad they have not recalled this. I fixed the problem with two cheap strong metal clips that I clipped to the hand/grips. I had an oil leak that was not cheap to fix. My TPMS light is on and its $200. to fix that sensor...I dont know what good it does because I can still see when tire pressure is low so its going to stay on. It has a huge trunk. Its smooth on the highway and the gas is good on highway but sucks it up in the city. I bought it with 30k it now has 103k and has been a good car with minor issues.

I bought my care almost new, 9000 miles on it. It's my 2nd Hyundai. My last one, an Elantra ran 237,000 miles, literally problem free until the transmission fell out. Damn good car. So good thought I would buy another. She runs great but has severe electrical problems. Dealership said nothing wrong but I have replaced every single bulb in that car no less than 3 times in under five years. There was a recall for the brake lights and I took it to the dealership. Still happens. Paint job is the worst. It's obvious the car has NO primer on it. The paint on the hood and above the windshield has been peeling in chunks, literally chunks all this time. Car looks like it's 15 yrs old.

I'm at 57k miles now. Currently my car is sitting with a locked ignition and steering wheel waiting to be repaired. The car looks nice and does well on the highway. However, if it is plastic, it is broken or will break soon. So far, visors are broken, the front skirt is cracked, paint flaking everywhere, driver's seat only goes back, not up, the seat adjustment control falls off every time I get out the car, the passenger side view mirror housing is broken ($300 paint & replacement) and yesterday my back driver's side door handle fell off. This car is built of extremely CHEAP materials. The interior is very worn also despite being a 2007 that isn't heavily driven. Never again!

I have a 2007 Sonata that has 113K miles on it. I brought it in for a ticking noise in engine-was told it 'could' be a lifter; engine has oil so was told to keep driving it. Next day on highway, noise got worse & bang, no power & oil ran out of bottom of engine. Am being told I need a new engine. NO info on any TSB on problems with this car. Am still in it for $7K-am at a loss here & Hyundai takes no responsibility. Now what?! Before this issue, car was a dream-no problems whatsoever. Am baffled, angry & feeling helpless. No where to turn-no help-no nothing.

To start the previous automobile was a 1997 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, 190k trouble free miles, tranny went. Too pricey to replace with Lucerne. Nearly entire family drives Hyundai's now. Bought Sonata. Transmission: Wish it had a "winter" mode, button to start in 2nd gear... Feel fifth could be leaner. Excellent acceleration, smooth and quiet, nicely laid out with high enough quality feel and look. Have near 60k, had one mechanical issue and dealership has been great. Niggling, but access to high mount stop lamp bulb is crazy, tires have worn out very quickly(not the car's fault)... Have not had an alignment and I live in Buffalo, which amazes me.

Here's my story, all true. Love the way the car looks, & performs, but that's where it all falls apart. After about 2 weeks the drivers seat bagan to rock, & squeak, after many trips to the dealer for repairs, it now only rocks. The seat mount plastic cover no longer stays on. Stereo cuts out intermittently over bumps, this problem seemed to correct itself. More steering wheel mounted radio controls would've been nice (no tune button). Appx 50k mi. the timing chain tensioner hung up, & valve inbeds into piston, nice! Recall for this ended in '06. Paint thin, & flakes off. Seems like hyundai has a bit to learn about making cars, last one i'll buy I think.

I have a 2007 Sonata and it isn't worth anything. I had to replace the breaks at 30,000 and the alarm would randomly go off so that was replaced. I replaced a censor b/c carbon was build up in the throttle body. The drive belt has been replaced. Both sun visors have been replaced. The gas tank needs to be replaced but will cost $1000 b/c it won't shut off automatically. The check engine light is on stating to replace the O2 censors. The driver seat squeaks and the middle compartment rattles but neither can be fixed, and the paint peals and chips really bad. Needless to say I am not impressed with Hyundai's.

My 2007 Sonata has just turned 4 years old in July of 2011. When it was new I did have a wheel balance problem which was fixed by the dealer at no charge. The battery started leaking acid this summer and I replaced it. Still on the original Michellins and have done no other repairs as of yet. Still looks like new and drives like new. I have 40,000 miles on it now. Really have enjoyed it. Powder White Pearl and I had the windows tinted.

I bought this car late 2008 with 31K miles, thinking it was worth not spending the extra 4 grand for an Accord. Issues with interior pieces, rattles, ignition lock, etc. Issues with rear brakes and suspension noises. Junction (fuse) box shorted out. Noise from failing timing chain tensioner that will eventually fail. Hyundai parts are very costly, and local repair shops in my corner of the world are mystified by Hyundais. These cars are probably fine for someone who drives 10,000 miles per year, but the components just don't hold up for someone like myself who uses the car for business at 2.5 times that mileage. FYI, all the required maintenance was done, and promptly, to no avail.

I bought my 2007 Hyundai Sonata with about 44K miles, now it has over 66K and before I hit my 6 year/60K warrenty expiration, my left side rear window broke and was stuck in the down position, thankfully, Hyundai fixed it at NO charge, However, now that I'm over the warrenty, my right side rear window has broken, in the down position . What is wrong with this company and its cheap parts??? I owned a Nissan before this and never had any issues like this. Also my paint is bubbling off on the mirrors, so far, this is the only place it's pealing. Though, when I bought the car, it had been REPAINTED on the hood and front bumper due to paint bubbling. I never had faith in Hyundai and still don't!!

I bought my 2007 Hyundai Sonata new, and at that time, I thought it was a good car, but I have since changed my mind. After an electrical short in the steering column, rear brake problems, engine computer malfunction, and now bubbling and peeling paint, I have had enough. Warranty covered most of the problems, but since my Sonata has 43,000 miles on it, Hyundai won’t cover the peeling paint, because the paint is only warranted for 3years 36,000 miles. The paint is so thin on this car that when driven on the highway, even bugs cause chipping of the paint on the front bumper and on the hood of the car. This appears to be a sub-standard paint job. Paint should not be peeling off this soon.

I bought the car with 53K miles on it. The first owner took good care of the vehicle, so I got a good deal. The car is inexpensive for its class, a thorough worthy purchase. Pros - Space, wide visibility angle, comfortable interiors, well tuned acceleration and braking for a 4 Cyl., good acceleration, stable at high speeds, low engine noise. Cons - Large turning radius, Insufficient differential acceleration causing deeper outward tilt on high speed turns, low power steering ratio, average road grip, visor spring quality, mildly hard suspension My recommendation backs Hyundai for a wonderful top-of-its-class vehicle at and affordable price... buy 'em while they're still cheap!

We got the Sonata at the beginning of 2010. I purchased the car with 68k miles on it and have put over 20k on it. Let me tell you something, these cars are reliable...maybe more so than Toyota, Nissan or Honda. I have not had a single problem. Oil changes are a breeze, since the oil filter is on top of the engine and driving it is fun and the car is very comfortable. Interior room shouldn't be a problem for anyone unless your name is Shaq. Treat her well and it will treat you well. BTW, for all those complaining about knock on start, that's normal for a top oil filtered car. Just give the car 10-15 seconds to cycle the oil.

I purchased my Sonata in April 2008. Within this last year I have had the paint peal off my hood and trunk. Im over my mileage for the warranty, b/c it ONLY 36,000 miles for the paint defects, and now I'm having to pay out of my own pocket for a new paint job when CLEARLY its a manufacture defect. I have spoke with the dealership, HYUNDAI, and they won't do anything so I called customer service and they told me they will put my info in their computer and if more ppl come forward then they could POSSIBLE have a recall. So the point of this blog is if you have this same problem with these vehicles please call customer service so we all can get this problem fixed!

When i bought my car in February, the driver's visor was broken. the dealership fixed it. when i went to drive it off the lot, the wipers wouldn't turn off. the switch went. the dealership said they would fix it but they never got back to me about the part, so for now i just take the fuse out and put it in when i need it. i will get it fixed eventually. about a month after i had my car the passenger visor broke! its still broke because my dealership wont get back to me! i have a warranty but i dont know how to get hold of anyone. my brakes squeak a lot. i need new brakes and new tires. i love the room in this car and the power. i just don't like everything falling apart. i get about 21 mpg.

I purchased the car used and have read other reviews about the poor fuel mileage. I don't think so, we have the six cylinder engine, and recently put a 170 mile trip on it up and down hills in Eastern Washington and got 28 miles per gallon. We ran from Ellensburg to Spokane and drove locally for two weeks on the tank that I filled in Ellensburg, on the trip readout it said 26.7 miles per gallon. I can live with this as it replaced a 1993 Ford Taurus that got 13 a round town, but 30 on the highway. I won't trade my Sonata for a Ford again.

My sonata is a 2006 lx with 55,000 Florida miles. While the car runs great and is very comfortable. I have had to replace the dashboard cover both sun visors, both window frames for rust problems, and now the body is rusting out and Hyundai says the warranty does not cover rust until it causes a hole in the body. All I can say is let the buyer beware, you buy cheap car and you get a car full of cheap parts

I purchased the Sonata on May 28th of this year. I was ecstatic about the value and what I got for the money! I have owned an Accent in the past, and LOVED it until I was rear-ended and it was totaled. My daughter also owned an Accent. I don't put much mileage on the car as I am disabled. I just recently hit the 1,000 mile mark (since May!) This car is wonderful! I couldn't have made a better choice. I will, however, have the rear brakes checked tomorrow when I take the baby in for routine maintenance. BOTTOM LINE: Great Car!

I brought my Sonata brand new. I have 105,000 miles. I travel a lot between NC, VA, and MD. I have the basic model and I love my car I've only had one problem and that was the rear brakes. I have been rear ended twice at the red light and my car is great on safety. I plan to buy the 2011 as soon as I can. I also get 30 plus miles to the gallon.and for the people complaining about the tires try BF Goodrich advantages they are just as great as the Michelins. (made by Michelin I think)

Love my car. Very nice for the money. College student and I needed something larger to haul more people in comfort plus I needed something bigger inside as I am 6'6". I got 27 mpg in my Honda around town always, best I get in my Sonata is 24 and I can't even touch the gas. 22 is normal, yet okay for this large of a car. Power is good but could stand another gear as sometimes it can be lacking and the difference between 2 and 3 is too great. Cruise could stand improvement too. 78 mph highway and I also only got 28 mpg. The car seems to like premium. I'm in love and very happy even though I just complained. The warning sounds in the car are super annoying, hence Rubi, my female named car. :)

I bought this car new and have been thrilled with it. It's very reliable, quiet and roomy. It's just a bonus that it's cheaper than the competition. After two and a half years though a little problem has come up- the paint is peeling off in sheets! Since it now has over 36000 miles there is no more paint warranty so I'm pretty much stuck. It will be a great rolling ad to poor paint adhesion on a Hyundai. This may not be true of other colors or ages, but it sure is on my silver-blue Sonata. If I was Hyundai I sure would want to get these fixed before someone saw it, but that's not the case.

Overall decent car, gas mileage isn't what was advertised 25-30, have consistently gottn 23-24 mostly highway. Issues with the transmission shift from day 1, dealer said it's normal. Tires held up real nice, 65,000 miles. Sound proofing and suspension could use some work. Hear road noises and noise from the sun roof. Brakes don't hold up well either.

As a former Toyota owner, I took a chance and went to the Hyundai mainly because a comparably equipped Camry was $6000 more. The car has performed well. No brake problems. At my last service my local mechanic said that the brakes front and back were only 50% worn at over 40,000 miles. The styling is attractive, nice large trunk area and plenty of back seat room. . I still have the original Michelin tires and they have plenty left. Gas mileage is as advertised offering about 30 mpg with the V-6 when driving at or near speed limits on the freeway. Service at the dealership has been good. Have had 1 problem with a rattle in the windshield. Three attempts to fix it have not worked.

It has all the features you need, great space many various compartments inside for storage, XM radio, mp3 cd player, safety is great I haven't had a problem with braking system (like others hv...touch wood) it has been kept in great condition and drives REALLY smoothly. Styling is OK. Acceleration is fantastic and fuel economy is brilliant. So far it has been a very dependable machine.

Although I haven't had any major mechanical problems with the car, I've just recently had to have the roof repainted at my own expense because the paint was flaking off. The paint warranty had expired at 36000 miles, but a car with only 48000 miles should NOT need to be re-painted. This is obviously a factory defect. Also, the car is VERY uncomfortable to drive. The seats don't provide good support, and even the steering wheel is uncomfortable. My rear brakes have squealed almost since day one, but just in reverse, so I haven't had them checked. But after reading the other reviews I see rear brakes are a common problem. I want to unload the car as soon as possible if I can get enough for it.

I bought the car in July '09 with 12,000 miles on it. I have since put about 6k miles on it and the car is superb. The engine is quite yet powerful. The design and look of the car rivals some of the 2009 and 2010 models out there now. The looks is absolutely timeless. This is my first Hyundai and I have to say I think I have found the company I will give my future business to. The only complaint I have is that the suspension is a little noisy. Sometimes even little bumps in the road sounds like your hitting a big pothole.

After 2.5 years and 33,000 miles, the car has been pretty good overall. Have had some issues such as XM receiver needing replacement because of water damage due to a weld in rear panel failing allowing water to get into XM receiver box located in trunk, brake switch replacement (recall was issued). So far the only major complaint is the pathetic quality of the rear brakes. Have had to service them twice so far, once at 20,00 miles and just the other day at 32,000 miles (not covered, pay out of your own pocket). Its a terrible design that the dealer admitted to, but Hyundai is not willing to do anything about it. So beware, brake issues are coming if you have not all ready experienced it.

Bought my 07 new in 0906. Feel I overpaid for it. 18,800. Have had to replace tires at 32,000 and brakes. Now my automatic seat works sometimes and my sun visor won't stay up. Dealer only service during the week, late only two days and rarely has loaner cars. Michelin tires are too expensive for this car and wouldn't climb my driveway last winter. Slide a lot! Never heard any noise but had to replace the windshield glass in the first 20,000 miles. Orange barrel fell in front of me and now I have a crack in the front bumper doing 50 mph

I drove this car from Miami to Tallahassee (which is a 600 mile drive) like 10 times and I drove this car from Miami to Washington D.C (which is more than a 2000 mile drive) and I still have no issues. I have had the car since 2007. A great car to drive, but I have had many problems. Check light comes on for no reason sometimes. Trunk would not close one day. Visor would not stay up. Drink holder broke. Car jumps a bit when I change from 1st to 2nd sometimes. About 2% of the time. Electrics are been faulty and I have had to replace 4-5 bulbs. I think that is about it. Quite alot though. The warranty is great and they have repaired everything, but I am tired of taking it into the shop for repairs. Like most people I shopped around and was saying to myself, "Are you sure you want a Hyundai?". I'm pleased I took the chance.I paid 17,500March of 07. It as sun roof, XM, AM/FM Radio, CD, alloy wheels, automatic, all the controls on the steering wheel, well it's loaded for a GLS model. The car has 40k on it. The car has run flawless, but the gas mileage is only about 27, 28 on the highway. My 2002 accord would get 32mpg. Early on I was displeased with the dealer oil changes. The oil always looked dark gray after changes. I do it myself now, and it looks fine. My wife took the car in for a brake switch recall. She gets the normal hard sell on the dealer maintenance. Hyundais have very expensive 40k checks. $298-$598. The rear brakes are totally worn out at 40k. They said that was very good. I have never replaced rear pads with less than 80k. Tires needed replacing at 35k. I will not by another Hyundai. Cost to own is too expensive. I will stick with my Hondas.

I bought this car as it seemed to present a good value for money. I liked its V6 performance, interior design and very nice exterior. Considering how hard I drive this car, I'm content with its reliability so far, after 23k miles. A real problem surfaced at around 20k miles, when I noticed brake noise. I thought it was the wear indicator on the brake pads, but as it turned out it was my rotors. Initially I got pretty upset at the dealership as they suggested rotor replacements - thought they were trying to milk me - but as it turned out, it's a common issue with the 2007 model. Yes, I too live in the New England area and see a lot of road salt. You get what you pay for - car was cheap

Bouncy ride and poor quality. Rear brake pads worn to rotors at 21,000 miles. Hyundai said rust caused this problem. I have never had a car with rear pads worn to rotors with 21,000 miles. I bought an extended bumper to bumper warranty for 10 years 100,000 miles, but hope I never have to use it because I'm sure they will find some excuse not to honor it.

My rear brakes need replaced at 21,000 miles. Dealer said it was from rust on rotors and caliper pins sticking. Also they said it was because of driving in bad weather. My wife drives this car and very seldom when roads are bad. Replacing pads and resurfacing rotors at 21,000 miles is ridiculous.

I have had my Sonata for about a year now and love it. The only problems that I have had were my brake lights went out (covered by a recall) and my visors would not stay up, apparently this is a common problem. But when I took it in to the dealership today, there were no questions asked and my car is fixed. Air conditioning is awesome! I live in Scottsdale and it get's HOT! My car is black and it cools off in no time. The pickup is great, and it is a very smooth ride. I have XM capability, just haven't signed up for the service. And of course, the safety features are awesome. I think most unexpected was if there is an engine fire, the inside of the hood drops and smothers the fire!

Purchased after my Camry was totaled. Comfortable, nice driving. Sun Roof rubber seal is off already, passenger window sounds very strange. Took to dealer, charged me 69.00 and says nothing is wrong. HATE the cruise control, it is awful! Will NOT hold speed up or downhill AT ALL. Has to be on FLAT highway to work mediocre.Got pulled over right after I bought it due to lousy cruise control downhill. My Camry NEVER did this. So though we like the car and drive it at 22000 miles in one year, still have reservations on it lasting. Loaded it up to within an inch of it's life and drove a 2800 mile vacation in Utah and Arizona, got 35 MPG.

I have driven this car for 2+ years and have had not one problem. I have average 30 miles per gal. over the 63000miles i have driven. I did perform he scheduled maintenance. i have taken long trips and commute to work 45 miles one way per day. I am trading it in for a new model and my monthly note is going done by $35. both notes for 36months. What a value?

Leased in 2007 for two years. Returned in June 2009. Needed new tires and brakes by 22,703 - in less than two years! Car had nice acceleration and was a smooth ride. The car had a nice look. However, the quality of the tires it came with and brake problems have soured me on the Hyundai brand. And, since my replacement tires weren't matched to the original brand, Hyundai is charging me a second time for two tires. I'm sure it's standard lease policy, but it feels wrong. I'll probably shop for another brand and avoid Hyundai all together since I anticipate having problems with any of their cars within only two years of purchase.

I have a 2007 Sonata GLS, and I am glad I got this car rather than an Accord or Camry. Excellent ride quality, superb stereo, good air conditioning and best of all the SHIFTRONIC transmission which allows me to shift into manual mode whenever I drive. Any day the suspension is better than a camry or accord. Spare parts are cheap and I buy them online. Warranty on the car is best in the industry . Fortunately nothing has gone wrong till date. Since reliability is a problem with older Hyundai’s I run my car on Pennzoil Fully Synthetic Engine oil, with a K&N oil filter and synthetic transmission oil. Resale value is a problem in the car, but I am positive that Hyundai will do well.

This car has been reliable, but it has one of the noisiest suspensions I have ever encountered. Each bump in the road is met with a crash and a bang. Edmund's high rating for this can only be explained by an obsession with foreign cars.... Disappointing fuel economy. I thought Korean cars were fuel efficient!

We bought our Sonata new 22 months ago and have enjoyed driving it. This week, after 22K miles, the rear brakes started making loud, grinding sounds. The dealership installed new rear brakes, pads, shims and clips at a cost of $265. Hyundai headquarters sees this as normal wear in New England with the sand and salt and all. My 50 years of driving tells me otherwise. Something is wrong with the Sonata brakes. The service manager at the dealership explained the companies concern over the issue. The company itself was unconcerned with my complaint. If you drive a Hyundai in New England, be forewarned.

I've never owned a car before that needed so many visits to the shop for things that shouldn't be going wrong. I've had to replace the tires and rims at least 3 times because the rims aren't sturdy enough to handle New England pot holes. It's been for parts falling out of the dashboard numerous times, the dashboard itself has been replaced, the recall on the passenger seat airbag, cracking in leather (dashboard again), issue with key ignition sticking when you start it. I think this car was built during a non pay week, just before a scheduled vacation!! Now the Santa fe we bought at the same time... the exact opposite, it has so far been a joy to own!

The resale value is pathetic to say the least, even thou dealers wants premium price used. next time a BMW is more apropiated.

For under $20k you get the comfort of a $35k car without the frills. Great gas mileage as well, I get 480-490 miles per tank. I chose the 4 cylinder over the V6, because I literally couldn't feel the difference or see the difference from a highway speed perspective. I drive 120 miles per work day and I couldn't be more happier with this machine. Excellent Car!

This car is the bomb. The 3.3 Liter power plant supply's more horse power than my old 74' Dodge Dart did and it had a 360cid engine. My Sonata has only been in the shop once, and that was for a warranty replacement of a head light. It's close to the 40,000 mile mark and still feels like new, the tires show little wear, and the leather seats make it smell like a new car every time I get in. Can't say enough good things about this car.

I bought the Sonata back in August of 2006 brand new and since then it has had many problems. Both sun visors have had to be fixed, alarm had to be fixed, it needs new tires, an oxygen sensor is starting to go bad, and the trim is starting to come off. The dealership doesn't want to work with you and everything you call about they say is not under warranty. In order to test the car to see which oxygen sensor is going bad they are going to charge me. I have never had this many problems with a car or a dealership. You would think that in this economy a company would want to keep customers but apparently not. I would not recommend this car to anybody and i will never buy another one.

Owned 07 Sonata for 2 years - 24500 miles on it. My recent experiences suggest that there are issues with the Hyundai Quality and Warranty claims. I had to change my both rear brake pads, and also change one rotor, resurfaced other after just 24000 miles! Surprisingly front brakes that should take 70% of braking torque were perfectly fine. Dealership said that the pads and rotors are not covered under warranty and charged $350. I have never heard rotor or even pads needing replacement in 2 years - shows poor quality of parts. Hyundai Consumer affairs would not cover even when Dealer agreed that this was not normal wear and tear. Had to change Alternator just 2 months back! Don't count warranty!

They now say well we changed it we won't do nothing. Car has had one problem after another & now is out of warranty a lot of stuff is starting to go wrong. I bought my car used about 11 months ago with 23000 miles. I now have 28000 miles. In that 5000 miles, it has been in the shop twice for engine knock. The second time they had to call Hyundai tech support twice. I didn't pay anything, and it doesn't knock anymore, but hmmmmm.... I also think the rear suspension has always been a little noisy, but now after the coldest January in 30 years,it sounds like I may have a rear strut problem. It kinda sounds like the car is banging on the frame. I will have this checked next time it's in. I'm disappointed because I really do like this car. Hopefully it's nothing and I will be a happy girl for a long long time. Wish I would have gotten the xm radio.

I have 2007 Sonata 3.3L V6 Limited for two years already. I bought it new. It accelerates pretty well, but, car hesitates a little when it shifts from 1st to 2nd speed in auto mode. Avg MPG is 20-21 city, 23-24 HWY (with A/C on). Suspension needs to be stiffer to avoid leaning on corners and steering feels kind of numb at low-parking speeds (in comparison to 2007 Santa Fe, which is great). Seats (driver's one is 8 ways adjustable on Limited) are fine. At the same time, driver seat should be more comfortable for long trips and provide better lumbar support for a healthier posture (as on Santa Fe again). Trunk is spacious. Quality of front cup holders sucks, but it is fixed on 2009 model.

I love this car. The 4 cyl engine has plenty of power. It handles well and give a very comfortable ride (I'm 6' 2"). The incredible warranty also lets me budget for only tires and oil changes during the next three years. Before I bought the car I also looked at a Camry and an Accord but the bottom line is that the Sonata can stand toe-to-toe with those cars and you do not pay for the brand name.

Well, after reading alot of reviews about the 2007 Sonata, I had to go out and test drive a couple. I went to a car dealer that had a V6 and a 4 cylinder 2007 Sonata parked side by side. I test drove both of them and what a thrill. The 4 cylinder had almost the same feel as the V6. If someone told me that, I would not have believed them. I owned a 98 Honda Accord V6 and the 4 cylinder felt almost as powerful as it did. So, I ended up buying the 4 cylinder Sonata and it is such fun to drive. I took the long way home just for fun. I appreciate all the reviews that other people shared. All of them came to "life" when I drove the Sonata for the first time. Go Hyundai.

Have driven the car one year now, including a record setting snowy winter for snowfall. The vehicle is very comfortable and quiet on the road. I purchased my 2007 Sonata in August of 2006 and it has been to Canada twice (I live in New Jersey) Tennessee, and around New York City on numerous occasions. The gas mileage has been outstanding, usually averaging 34 MPG on the long trips and around 25 MPG locally and in the city. The trunk is ENORMOUS, and the rear seat has plenty of room for adults, including those over 6 feet tall. It's reasonably comfortable and probably the best "bang for your buck" mid-sized sedan on the market.

First, when I was buying a car, I was looking for a car that will fit my family. I wanted to buy a used car, later I decided to buy a new one. It was Sonata. It has great warranty. It is reliable car. It does pretty well with millage plus it is fast enough. I love to ride in the backseat, it is so comfortable, but the long window during a sunny day will burn your neck in the back seat. There should be a radio station changing on the steering wheel. Steering wheel should be telescopic. The shoulder rest should be a bit longer or at least should be expandable like in European models. It could be a bit quieter at the back, the ride is smoother in the front seat than in the back. I think that is all

I like everything about our 2007 Sonata The safety features were a great selling point for the dealer. We like the gas mileage @ about- 26 in city driving. This is my first foreign model car, and I wish I had been turned onto these years ago, but at least I can enjoy mine now. I have Parkinson's Disease and entering and exiting a car is very important. This fits the bill for me. We enjoy driving this car because of the peace of mind we have concerning safety features. We've only had this Sonata a month, and already I am heartily suggesting Hyundais to relatives and others...as I am doing here. I am already considering upgrading to a new 2009 Sonata.!

We recently purchased this vehicle as a one year old vehicle. Has compared it with the 2008 Accord, Camry, Corolla, and Malibu. The price was great, and we saved $6- 7000 over the 2008 Accord or Camry. We are impressed. The car is roomy, comfortable, quiet, and has great trunk space. It feels like a much larger and higher priced car. Safety Features and Warranty are great and better than other comparables. MPG has been 24-25 average, high twenties on the highway. The fit and finish is very good to excellent. It does not feel or sound like a 4 cylinder at all. Very easy to park, and fits in the garage well due to short trunk lid. Great headroom and glass area. I would recommend to friends.

I must say I am very impressed with the sonata, my first brand-new car. I drive over 51k hard miles per year and I have had no mechanical problems. The vehicle is reasonably quick, the XM and all of the safety features are great and it is an excellent highway cruiser. Fuel economy is between 21- 29, I've never cracked 30. Build quality is generally good but I don't think the paint should chip so easily nor should the plastic protectors at the bottom flake off. Still this vehicle is an absolute bargain, I considered a Camry and accord and the Hyundai drives just as well them---at a lower price and a with a better warranty:)

My 1st time buying Hyundai & got ~7.5k miles on it so far. Need to put on more mileage before I can rate its reliability. As for quality, the workmanship could be better, as I already noticed a (very minor) leak on the trans bell housing seal the next day after I got the car. I 1st noticed from the fluid drops on my garage floor. Also, some of the body panels don't line up perfectly with the bumper (also very minor). Considering what I paid, I can live with such minor defects. The gas mileage seems nowhere near what's claimed--I drive 1/2 hwy & 1/2 hi-spd suburban roads, but my trip computer tells me ~21.5mpg (on the 3.3L V6). Other than that, a pretty nice car w/ good features for the $$!

I bought the 2007 Sonata at 0% APR. No interest, nothing beats that. I was looking for car with all the safety features. I don't care about horse powers or handling at high speeds. I care about going from point A to point B more safely than my old car. This car does and saves me a lot of buck. 260 hp is not going to get me to work/grocery any faster than 160 hp. So if you are looking to get a good car with good safety features and save a buck while at it, go with the sonata.

I say that because we think enough of the company and their product to continue buying from them. I am very happy with my car. I purchased a GLS auto with xm radio, moonroof and 17in. wheels instead of the 16 in. standard. I have read reviews that have stated the car has average pickup in highway traffic. Let me tell you that sometimes I have to ease up on the peddle, if you know what I mean, an have no problems getting in and out of traffic. I look forward to a continued great relationship with Hyundai!

I now have just over 20,000 miles on my Sonata and to date 0 problems. For a car in this class I have to say that Hyundai hit a home run. Plenty of power and considering the engine size and horsepower, fuel economy is very good (22+ city, 32+ hwy). This is a fun car to drive, very comfortable on long trips, great handling and I can put up with the little noise of the suspension at this price. If you can find a better car at this price than please let me know. I looked at Toyota and Honda's before purchasing this car and I found the Hyundai Sonata to be an exceptional value.

This car has had problems from the very beginning. A week after we bought it, my husband and I left the car parked in the garage while went on our annual week-long vacation. When we returned, I got in the car first thing Monday morning to go to work and it wouldn’t start at all. Completely dead. (We had not even made a single payment at this point and the odometer read 400 miles, most of which were accrued when the car was shipped up from South Carolina for us.) I called the dealership and the Sales Manager told me that someone else had called previously about the trunk popping open..

Bought it with 13,400, at 14,000 they replaced the front brake pads, because I heard a crunching noise when slowing down, they also replaced the rear trunk hindges.. Rear suspension is loud over bumps. My v6 knocks when cold and noise goes away when warm. Suspension is loud! Tires are junk 215 55 17- junk! My first and last Hyundai. Sorry I bought it.

I've had this car for almost a year, and over 18,000 miles later, no significant problems to report. For the money, it's been a good investment - secure handling, decent factory sound system, airbags everywhere, comfortable ride. Minor annoyances include a drivers side seat that "rocks", it never really feels like it's locked completely in place. The wheel covers are CHEAP and easily scraped all to pieces (or maybe I'm just abusive and used to alloys?). Gas mileage isn't as great as I'd hoped (mid-20s). Just this morning I heard a squeal under the hood - will be going to the dealer to have that checked. Lastly, the check seatbelt alarm could cause incurable insanity. Worth a 2nd look!

Being a retired senior I wanted a reliable, well built and comfortable sedan with decent gas mileage. Why spend thousands more for Accord or Camry when Hyundai offers more for less! Gas mileage is 23 mpg Urban driving and 32 hwy. Car looks good drives better and is very quiet inside. Couldn't be happier. Absolutely "0" problems in 9000 miles.

Before driving 2000 km . rear suspension began to rattles ,bang ,etc. Dealer said it was the high performance struts and the cold weather and all 2007's did the same thing. The banging is getting worse even over small bumps. They ordered new strut brackets;haven't arrived yet. Annoying squeak between windshield and dash. None of my other cars had this problem in our cold climate.Could never get the XM radio to work.

I love his car. I feel like I got Toyata/Honda quality at .85% of the price. Tight, smooth ride. Great controls. I suspect that, like Toyata and Honda, Hyundai is heading upwards in price in the upcoming years. Buy now! The older HYundais, like the 2000 Sonata I also own, are.let's face it, pieces of expendable junk. I get the 2000 repaired and, two weeks later, some "check engine" light comes on and I'm in for another $500. But starting in 2006 Hyundai seriously Uped their game. Now this is a car I can live with. Remember how we thought Toyota was a piece of Japanese junk back in 1980? That's the path Hyundai is taking. Before 2006...junk. After that 90% Honda quality at 80% the

I loved the way it drived and it was quiet and a nice ride. Excellent brakes and a nice interior. I got this car for a great price and it was well below the market price. I actually ended up getting this much lower than the invoice price. I love the car!!

It's been a very good and reliable investment. Being driven every single day, it has most of the great features you find on premium brands. The performance is outstanding. It drives with no issues on surfaces covered with snow - original tires. So far nothing to be concerned about during my first year and a half. This new generation of hyundai is truly catching up with japanese brands. The gas mileage was not really the one I expected, but still acceptable.

I have always been a Honda Accord person. The automatic transmission had problems in my 2001 Accord. Dealers wanted to replace for $4k. After a lot of hassle, Honda sent me a check. The Sonata is a superior car. They have thought of every detail. From the clean looking engine department, to the roomy trunk. Pnuematic hood and trunk supports. I dont have to worry about bumping the stick when I check the oil.Plenty of room, cupholders in the back, and plenty of airbags. Nice car,at a nice price. I bought as a 2007 clearance. The new accord was too big and costly

Less than a year after I purchased 2007 Sonata Limited I was t-boned by a Ford Explorer doing 60++mph. The impact was directly in my drivers door. Miraculously, I climbed out of the vehicle and walked away from the wreck. I loved the car from the second I bought it and love it even more now. Very nice car for the money. Handles and rides nicely. The transmission shifts slowly from reverse to drive, and is kind of jerky in the process. It also surges when accelerating from a low speed. Also the glove box rattles. Other than that, it seems to be a great car. Got backed into by another car while mine was parked, so I am driving a Toyota Camry rental while my Sonata is being repaired. They are very similar cars, but I like the ride and handling of the Hyundai Sonata better than the Camry, and it's easier to get into and out of as well.

I was ready to purchase a new Ford Fusion and on a whim I drove a new Sonata. It was smoother and more refined than the Fusion. The 17 inch 55 ratio tires made the car ride rough so I bought a set of 16" 60 ratio tires and wheels, then sold the 17s back to the dealer for more than I paid for the 16s. The ride is greatly improved. It is stupid to install low ratio tires on a nice car and expect to get a good ride. I had firm foam put in the drivers seat. The car has been flawless, No problems!!

I owned an 18-yrs old Taurus that I'd had for the last ten years. I decided to by a new car since I wanted something with a warranty. Hyundai's warranty is included in the price and it's 5-yrs bumper to bumper, well almost..! I always had Fords or British Leyland cars. Before buying the Sonata I looked at the v6 versions of the Fusion, G6, Mazda-6 and the Altima. The last two were too expensive. When comparing the Fusion & G6 the Sonata out paced them in all areas. I got a great deal at the dealership who's knowledge of this product was excellent. I have done 13,500km without any issues. Those journeys from Calgary to Edmonton are less tiring now & more comfortable. Excellent car.

I certainly do not understand the expert car reviews. The Hyundai Sonata is sluggish: the auto tranny is sluggish and jerks in acceleration, interior is weak and has no personality, and the windshield cleaner devices are like 'eyes' looking back on me. Why did they put these ON TOP of the hood? Bad bad design. The only good thing I can say about it is that it is great on gas. I would really loathe driving it everyday. Thanks to Edmunds for rating something so well and now I am stuck with a car for 4 years that I do not enjoy. Do they build cars cheap so car reviewers can get kick backs?

After 20 years spent almost exclusively behind the wheels of Fords and other mainstream American autos, I hit my limit on providing endless vehicular life-support: it was time for something new. After a bit of research, I decided the Sonata best suited my limited budget and high annual miles. On paper/screen, it looked great..but would it meet expectations? In some ways, yes. This is a heck of a car for the price, with lots of features standard, and some nice additions in the plus package (like the auto-lights, trip computer, etc). But shockingly, my new 2007 4-cyl gets measurably worse fuel efficiency than my 1999 or 1993 6 cyl Tauruses. So much for that stereotype! economic

Suspension is a noisy especially when hitting bumps. Allow car to "bottom out" struts too easily. Other than too much noise from suspension and noise coming in from an uninsulated trunk mat, the car drives beautifully. Passenger area of car is noisy and difficult to use "bluetooth" with cell phone, end up having to hold cell phone, unsafe move!!! Gas mileage not as good as I thought it would be especially on the highway (for its size and make of engine - V6).

Owned for 6 mos. - new lower mpg accurate (30 hwy, 20 cty, mixed avg 25- ish). Bought new over my other finalists (used '04 Acura TL or '06 Passat)...spent thousands less...wish I could have gotten XM w/o sunroof. I was attracted to mid size exterior with large car interior; at 6'2" 230 my middle age frame/girth fits very comfortably. I threaten to move my 11 yr old into its trunk when he misbehaves, it is g-i-a-n-t and hauls my rep samples easily. Std and safety features really a "wow" for the money...hope this current era for Hyundai will be like the Honda/Toyota mid 80's as far as earning reputation, long term reliability. Only failure 1st 6 mos. is driver seat recline electronic switch.

Probably the best car I've ever owned. But this time I liked the look and drive and the warranty of this car better. Also they had a 5 speed manual available on the lot which I believe makes any 4 cyl a better drive. Also saved at least $3500 over another similar camry, altima, ford focus,or malibu in the 08 models. Nice color selection. Dealership was helpful but not pushy which I like. S0 I decided to give Hyundai a try.

Researched for several weeks including viewing Edmunds ratings and reviews. I ended up purchasing a program 07 with 14000 miles. It rides and handles like our 01 Honda Accord SE, the 3.3 V6 is virtually silent and smooth with an average 24 combined MPG. Fit and finish are very good with one minor dash rattle which we will have looked at during the first service. Agree the front seats need a little work comfort wise. The stereo sounds good.

I was going to buy another Altima, but felt that the Sonia was a better value. I drive my cars for ten years plus so the lower resale value of the Hyundai was not an issue. I found for the same money I would have spent on a 2006 used Altimia I got a fully loaded Hyundia with a better warranty. The Sonata has been a great car to drive. I drive it as a second car and it has become a "sort-of" utility vehicle. The room in it is fantastic, great for the trips to Home Depot or Lowes. The seats are somewhat uncomfortable on a long trip, but the gas milage makes up a little for the comfort. I think Hyundai needs to make a change on the front seats. All in all, a super car. Having owned 2 Lexus' I would consider an Azera next trip around.

We have driven Hondas and Toyotas for years, but when it came time to replace a 1993 Accord, we drove the "97" Accord, several Toyotas but kept going back to look at the Sonata. In the end we went for the Sonata because of the value for the dollar. Warranty, options and it just feels like a secure car. Fit and finish are on par with Honda and Toyota. The 4 cylinder is more than adequate for day-to-day driving and road trips with a family of four. Our first trip on the interstate with 3k on the engine still averaged 30 mpg. Not bad for a fresh engine. The final test will be to see how it handles a winter in the upper-midwest...

My father owns a Mercedes and owned Lincolns before that; but he's been so impressed by my Hyundai that he's going to get the Sonata. He's tired of his Mercedes being in the shop and the standard luxury features in the Sonata Ltd can hold its own with any luxury car and it has been just as reliable as my brother's Honda's and Acura. I'm sold on the brand.

I'm not one to make rash decisions, so it took many months (almost 3) to finally decide on the 07 Sonata. I looked at the Big 3 Japanese competitors - Accord, Camry & Altima, and I have to tell you, for the money, features and warranty, none of them even came close to giving me what Hyundai did at the price I paid. I have owned my car for over a month now and am so glad I made this purchase. The V6 engine is so smooth, and can definitely "pop" your neck if you have a heavy foot. I continue to get nothing but compliments telling me what a beautiful car it is. If Hyundai continues on this pace, I will definitely buy new one in a couple of years.

I researched more than 10 cars over the last 8 months comparing gas mileage, saftey features, reliablity, price, and looks. The 2007 Hyundai Sonato won hands down over the other makes & models. There is simply more car for your dollar. It is safe, gets very good gas mileage for the V-6 and it's size in SW Pa. (24 miles/gal+), it looks, feels, and drives like a luxury sedan! I am impressed thus far with the feel of the car - it is also fun to drive! And there is lots and lots of room in this car.

I have now owned my 07' GLS for a little over a year with zero problems. After 13,500 miles it drives like the day I bought it. Great mileage--I get between 28 and 31mpg on every fill up (mixed driving). Hyundai's commitment to quality for an excellent price with a great warranty is almost too good to be true. Plenty of power for a 4 cylinder, smooth ride, and all the safety and features you need. No wonder it is a top 10 best selling car in America.

Very comfortable interior, largest among other similar car's tested. I'm very happy that I made the choice to buy this car.

Sonata is by far the best value for the money. I started out looking for everything else but a Hyundai, but on a whim I test drove the Sonata. It is hard to believe that the Sonata is built by the same company that sold the Excel... The 4 cyl is a bit weak but for an everyday commuter it works well.

I have owned both Toyota and Honda vehicles over the years, but tried the Sonata this time because my co-worker got one and he likes to run cars till the wheels fall off. I told him I was thinking about a new car and he let me try his Sonata Limited. Whoah- I was surprised- it was better than what I expected from a Hyundai. The Sonata had Side curtain airbags, Stability control, XM radio, roadside assistance and a 10 year warranty- ALL STANDARD! If you try it, you’ll rethink paying more for a Toyota and Honda with far less features. For me, the Sonata GLS had everything I wanted, except in- dash NAV. I never had satellite radio in a car before, and this XM radio rocks!

So far, I've been happy with this car. It has a nice ride, and a lot of interior room (espescially in the back. The trunk is very nice as well. There are a ton of standard features. in comparison to many of the competitor cars, the Sonata drives just as nicely, costs a few thousand less, and comes with a 100k/60k powertrain/bumper to bumper warranty. The car does NOT get as good gas mileage as the sticker would indicate. I drive on the highway about 85% of the time, and tend to get around 26 miles to the gallon (sticker read 24-33). I expected a little more than that.

We've been driving this vehicle for almost 10 months and have been quite happy with the ride and quality of the vehicle. I traded up from a 2005 Elantra for the simple reason that I needed a larger door opening due to recent knee replacement and mobility problems. The car is comfortable and quiet, especially compared to my daughter's 2005 Camry which I consider a comparable car. I think I purchased the safest, most quiet riding, and best performing vehicle I could find in the price range, give or take $3- 4K. I would definetly buy another, or possibly the Sonata Hybrid when it becomes available. My only problem was with a dealer installed remote starting system that has to be reprogrammed.

Nice car for the price, but still a lot of space to improve on design aspect without real additional cost, e.g. suspension! Engine is nice and powerful, but not as quiet and fuel efficient as competition. Brakes are excellent, but no way in comparing handling or refinements of this car with BMW 5-seires, as advertised! I believe it has better value for money than 3.3L Azeras. You are not really upgraded with a Toyota or Honda! Next step is a BMW, Luxus, or Mercedes! Engine noise when you look at it at ilde with hood open, seems more than one expects from such a beautiful piece of engineering! Can't feel the difference Solar Glass is supposed to make! Functional, but not beautiful dashboard!

I have nothing but praise for this car. Despite it being a 2.4L, it drives close to a V6 with great pickup and acceleration which is great with today's gas prices. It is well built, comfortable, looks good and has many interior features for which one usually has to pay extra. Also important to me is good peripheral vision and the roominess it provides which is one of the biggest reasons I traded in my 2004 Honda Accord coupe with only 9K. I am very glad I did. That is one sweet driving car!!!

I'm in love with my new 2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited Platinum Edition. The value I got for this car is amazing. I paid 23.3 including taxes and fees. I was in the market for a Toyota Camry, but I saved about 5000 going with the Hyundai. Toyota wouldn't offer much on my trade in, Hyundai did. And I got a V6 in addition to leather heated seats, and a great warranty for the same price as the Camry SE with the sunroof spoiler package(that was my first choice).

After recommending a 2006 Sonata to my father-in-law last year, he purchased a GLS instead of a Civic or Accord. He loves his Sonata and averages 23 mpg in town. I just traded my 2004 Envoy SLT XL for a new 2007 Sonata Limited with XM. It rides very smooth, is very quiet, and gets very good gas mileage. I really got a super deal from Hyundai of Decatur. I paid less than $19,000 for my 2007 Sonata Limited! I got over $5000 off of the sticker and they are one of the easiest dealers that I have ever dealt with.

I was shopping for a replacement for a '98 Accord EX V6 and read Edmunds review of the Sonata shootout with the Accord and Camry, so decided to check this out. I had been aware of Hyundai's dismal reviews for earlier models and was very surprised after a drive in the Sonata. The handling of the car is composed and feels secure for family driving (I drive an '03 Infiniti G35 coupe, so I can't call it sporty), power is more than adequate (better than the Honda), and quietness of ride at 75 mph is better than the mentioned Accord or Infiniti. Fit and finish easily match the Accord. MPG thus far (with 3,000 miles): 20 city, 27 highway. Thus far I'm very impressed with the Sonata SE.

This is a great car, comparable to upscale toyota camry or honda accord but about $10K less. My model is the limited, nicely appointed in leather, etc. Has advanced features, very peppy 3.3 (246 HP) litre engine, and in fact is a large car compared to its class, has great legroom and trunk space. Sound system is Infinity 6 CD changer, premium speakers, etc. Have 2,000 miles on it now, gets a true 25 MPG combined city and highway. It is a great value compared to vehicles in this segment costing thousands more.

I don't like my new Sonata Limited Platinum - What a huge mistake! The main problem I have with the car is the outrageously over-sensative electronic throttle. After 3 weeks of driving it I have a horrible ache in my foot because I'm always holding it in a wierd position up off the throttle. I'm unable to rest my foot on the throttle at all, there is no swivel arm action either, the gas pedal is just a hunk of plastic. The vehicle is also VERY slow to upshift on full acceleration. I've had to adjust my driving to allow for a second or two before the car actually takes off, however when it finally does decide to go it really get's up and goes! it is fast and safe, I will give it that.

This has proved to be an excellent car, excellent build quality, tight and quiet, with plenty of power and good fuel economy (24 mpg). The only negative comment I have relates to the radio controls on the steering wheel. There is a control called mode which changes the radio from AM to FM to CD, but ther is no control to move between stations. A small thing but annoying.

1 month into a 24 lease on a bare bones Sonata GLS. Only extras mine came with are carpeted floormats. That's fine b/c my lease payment is peanuts. This car is surprisingly powerful for a 4cyl. It's decent off the line but on the highway it's really superb. It's cruises at 80 effortlessly with more power to spare. I've only got 1300 miles on it but my mileage has been around 24mpg overall but I floor it most of the time. Comfort is decent. Car drives very well, has good road manners and feels well composed. Car certainly isn't flashy but I like it's clean looks and I really enjoy driving it regardless. For the money, I think the Sonata is unbeatable.

This is not your 80’s Hyundai any more. It may take some time for this manufacturer to recover from prejudiced assumption that Hyundai cars are “Casio” of automotive industry, but those people who had a chance to drive recent models and then check specs and workmanship, should know better already. The price is reasonable by comparison, warranty is excellent, quality of drive and comfort is a pleasant surprise and gas mileage is real nice. After buying mid-grade Honda and Toyota for many years almost religiously, and since in last 2 years I did not like what I see, so I started turning towards Nissan yet it appears that I just discovered Hyundai to be very interesting and quite logical choice.

I have been driving a 1988 BMW 735i since 1988. Also, own 1987 Toyota Supra, wife drives Cadillac CTS -- sometimes I get to drive . The last American brand car I owned was a 1986 Mercury Capri with 5 litre V8. I do not buy, or drive ordinary cars. The car is made in my home state of Alabama in the worlds most advanced assembly plant. I was sold on the car immediately after a test drive. I tried out most of it's competition -- Hyundai beat them all. If it was a rear wheel drive it would be a world class car. If and when Hyundai assembles a rear wheel drive in the Montgomery, Alabama factory -- I will trade in my front wheel drive Sonata. Best buy on the market. Price was reasonable.

My choices were not too many; Camry I4, and Sonata V6, about same price, but feature-wise Hyundai was far ahead. The car is not my ideal of course, as I am more tuned to European styles, and this one is mde for Americans! If with replacing shock ansorbers, I could acheive a stiffer suspension, I would have done so, but I am not sure where to find this! Maybe in Hyundai Germany!? Otherwise, everything else is just about Perfect. Maybe too early to say, as I am drivingthis only for 2 weeks, and sill in break in period (till 2,000km). Seats are comfortable, Audio system excellent, very silent indeed (in idling you need to look at RPM to see if engine is running!) I'll update this in 2-3 months

I traded a 2002 Elentra for the Sonata. I had 160,000 miles on the Elentra and never had any issues with the car. So my natural choice was Hyundai and I wanted to upgrade. I commute 125 miles a day and after a month I am averaging 32 MPG in mixed city/hiway driving. With a commute of so much distance comfort is important and the Sonata is very comfortable and I am 6'2". I was worried about the cost of my insurance going up but with all of the standard safety features my cost actually dropped by almost $150 a year from the Elantra. The bottom line is buy a Hyundai Sonata, you won't be sorry. Great gas mileage, comfortable and it turns heads. I may buy Hyundai's forever!!

I put a lot of hiway miles on my Hyundai Sonata, 150-200 mi/day and I must say, for it's size, it's very comfortable, miliage is about 30-31 at hiway speed with air on, but it only has 3700 miles on it, (not really broken in yet). Sound system is great, car is exceptionally quite except road noise which is a minimum considering. The trunk is suprisingly large and the back seat is roomy and comfortable. Well, I have owned my Sonata gls 4cyl auto with sports package for two months now. I had shopped cars in this class from all of the manufacturers. I can say I am very pleased with the car. I haven't found a single defect that makes me want to return to the dealership for a fix. They did a fine job of manufacturing in Alabama. So far, the fuel economy has averaged city/hwy at 23 mpg--and there are a lot of hills around here. The 4cyl has demonstrated plenty of power when entering the beltway from a ramp or when climbing hills around town. Hyundai resale values will be climbing higher with this kind of craftmanship. A strong buy from me on a great car.

I traded in a 2006 Chevy Uplander Minivan as the gas mileage was horrible. I checked out the Camry, Impala, and others and nothing compared to the value of the Sonata. I had to get a car that would allow three Child seats in the rear seat. The seats fit fine as the vehicle is classified as a large car it has plenty of room inside. The vehicle rides smoothly and the 4 cylinder has provided plenty of power. I also have the premium package and the floor mats. I would say that this is the best car in its class for themoney and possibly not even considering the cost. The five year warranty also puts the vehicle at the head of its class. I would recomend this car and the dealership to everyone.

This is a very nice car. It moves very well. It sits comfortably. Power when you need it and a nice growl on acceleration. Quiet with great Infinity music setup inside. Major problem: I was hit by a Saturn turning right from a left turn lane in front of me at an intersection. The driver's front headlight area took the hit. The bumper popped loose, the fender was pushed back against the tire and driver's door which wouldn't open and the hood was bent beyond repair. Normal fender bender speed of less than 20mph... normal repair cost $2500... this one $5000. Now the worst part: Depreciation in 8 months and 8500 miles was 54%. Even Without an accident, Hyundai said it would be the same.

I had driven most of the sedans in this class before I was exhausted with inequities in the american car market. The Hyundai is by far the best deal on the road .Bigger than the Altima, Accord, and Camry, all foreign but better than the Malibu or the Ford Fusion.Handles the best of all that I drove.Only Nissan was close to the ride, but for the money you will not beat it! The one I bought is the SE model fully loaded with sunroof,v-6 all electric seats and windows ,cruise tilt, with alarm. All for 21,900.Five star crash rating which is the best on the market, and that is what makes this much improved HYUNDAI a key player and the KING OF THE ROAD

We looked & tested many different cars. Serious about a Camry when we tested this one. Great car for the money. We have not gotten the promised MPG though and that is disappointing. We purchased for fuel economy. Our larger, heavier Buick LeSabre (V6) gets as good of mileage as the Sonata and it is loaded to the gills.

Review: 10 months, 10,000 miles, relatively heavy-footed and agressive driving style. If curb appeal is your thing, this is definitely your car. My metallic-beige LmtEd draws glowing comments (inside and out) everywhere it goes. Power and refinement remain excellent as well. In a recent 2000 mile trip I rarely cruised at below 80 MPH, often hit 100 effortlessly, and topped out at 120 for one memorable 45 minute stretch. Nitpicks: The handling is somewhat mushy. The car needs a performance handling option. The mileage could be better. I know, I drive too fast. The steering wheel stereo controls could incorporate MANY more features using only the same amount of buttons.

I test drove Camry, Accord, Galant and Sonata. In terms of performance, and comfort, I think there is no significant difference among these competitors. Sonata, however, is $5000 less than the comparably equipped Accord/Camry, and $3000 cheaper than Mitsubishi Galant. According to JDPower and Consumers Report, in terms of overall quality and reliability, Hyundai cars rank third or fourth, just behind Toyota and Honda but ahead of Nissen, Mazda, Mitsubishi and other second-rated Japanese cars. Knowing that the quality of Hyundai cars has improved tremendously in recent years, I wanted to give the benefit of doubt to the Korean underdog, just as I extended the same to Toyota 25 years.

The Hyundai engineering department needs to pay more attention to the drive train to truly make this an outstanding car. The interior/exterior, suspension and handling are all fine on my 2007 Sonata. The engine and transmission is where this car falls on it's face. The transmission shifts entirely to lazy and slips with the engine revving in to the next gear, this shows lack of refinement. The drive by wire system allows the engine to rev slightly while coming to a stop and then rev slightly again when lifting your foot off the brake, very annoying to drive with this revving. I am putting up with these problems for now and trying to get used them as the dealer say's it's normal.

Performance is definitely there, comfort is top notch, and the features are second to none for the price that you pay for this wonderful machine. Not too mention it is the best looking sedan on the road today. If you are thinking about the Sonata and comparing it to other sedans then stop and buy right now because no other sedan even compares.

Very nice ride, quick, quiet, comfy. MPG could be better, but might improve with more miles. Light grey interior looks great, but is hard to keep clean. No problems at 3000 miles. Many safety features and standard features that are options on other makes, plus the warranty, sold me on this car. I also think it looks better than the competition. I just hope gas mileage improves to EPA ratings, especially with fuel prices going sky-high.

For business I rented several of the competing mid-sized vheicles that were available from Hertz, Avis and National. I put them all through some rigous perfomance testing with the idea of purchasing the best. The Sonata was the clear winner. A great bonus was that the Sonata was also cheapest car with the best warranty. Money is tight so spend it wisely and buy the Sonata.

I am a bit mystified by the disappointing mileage achieved by the in-house reviewer. I have taken three road trips in exess of 2,000 mi. in my Sonata, each with two adults and luggage (sometime golf clubs too). The worst overall mileage I've gotten on these trips, which includes city driving, idling in parking lots, one hour delays on the interstate for accidents, etc., is 28.7 mpg and the worst was 31.4. I don't think the onboard computer would lie to me. In everyday driving, it never has gone below 25 mpg. Anyway, the V6 is really powerful, it corners like a bat, stops on a dime, is roomy, comfortable and has never had a single thing go wrong...what more could you ask for?

Looks better than the Camry I looked at. Out performed the Accord. Blew the doors of of Sebring and was better built that the Fusion or Milan. All I can say is the Sonata is awesome and Hyundai has come a long way.

Let me start by saying that I researched and test drove about every car under $23K prior to picking the Sonata. In doing my research I made price the least important so I could be sure that I got the car I wanted without price being the driving force for my decision. I needed a car that I could put 3 kids in sometimes but got good gas mileage since I travel a lot. I found that the Sonata had more interior room in every aspect and trunk space than any other car in its class and got comparable mpg. The build quality is easily equal to that of its Japanese rivals. I was going to buy the V6 but opted for the 4 banger. It has tons of torque and adequate acceleration. Best car I've ever had.

Went from a 2001 accord to the 2007 Sonata primarily because of cost. Was very pleasantly surprise with the Sonatas performance together with the added features the Accord does'nt offer. Todate I could'nt be more pleased. Given the cost of the Accord and Camry they are both overrated compared to the Sonata.

I bought the Hyundai Sonata because I am fed up with North American car that keeps on braking after 100 000 km. I will say this in my 23 years of driving the only car I have ever driven that compared as far as quality and comfort was a 1984 Buick Century. The Hyundai Sonata is an outstanding car that easily compare to its Japanese competitors. I honestly find the comfort surpasses what of the Accord and this while being $4000 Canadian cheaper then the Accord, for the same equipment fit. I own a GLS 3.3 6Cyl 5A. In short it has great fuel economy and outstanding comfort. And Exceptionel comfort. The only negative is the road noise being louder due to leather seating.

My GLS XM doesn't have the MP3 input jack, or the leather-covered steering wheel and leather-trimmed shift knob, which is odd, because these are standard features! The sticker said it came equipped with fog lights, which the dealer confirmed, but there are no fog lights...which I found out driving home the first night I owned the car in a thick, blinding fog! It seems that there was a shift in the trim lineup the very week I purchased the car. This is something I'll have to resolve on Monday, when the dealership reopens. Meanwhile, this car is so peaceful to drive; it's like riding on a velvet cloud - but with great road feel and steering-wheel feedback, as well as decent handling.

Hyundai is my 6th new car for past 10 years and it’s my first time to drive Hyundai. But I don’t have that kind of luck any more as I did with my previous 5 cars. I found defect after defect of this Hyundai when I just owned this car less than a month. I already encountered 4 defects since I have had Hyundai less than 10 months, loose hanger bar, broken pump of wind shield fluid tank, visor light out, and break light out. I not only needed to spend time to get those problems fixed at the dealer, but also the even worse part is that I had to pay for some of the fixes, which are not covered by the warranty. I felt that buying Hyundai car is paying for a new car price without a warranty.

I traded a 2007 Elantra for a 2007 Sonata and I could not be happier with my choice. I looked at pretty much all the option packages and the Limited Platinum Edition was by far the best value. The fuel efficiency is not that great, which is not unusual for a car with such a big engine.

Got this car 2-19-07 and like it. The ride is smooth. To date I have gotten 19+ MPG. The only problem I have is the ESC light indicator comes on when not touched. The dealer is going to replace it this week. I would like the front seats to wrap more around my body (had a VW Passat before - seats felt great.) These seem too shallow. Also the dash material seems not very 'smooth' and when I wipe the dust, it seems to push it into the dash not off.

The Sonata Limited is truly an excellent value for the money. In the 2.5 months I've owned the car, absolutely nothing has gone wrong. It is a true pleasure to drive. Excellent traction in wet weather, very good cornering, very, very quiet. The engine is smooth as silk. The sound system is excellent. All controls are within easy reach of the driver. The quality of construction is evident in every detail from pain to under-the-hood to interior. Previously, I had a Honda Accord V6; however the Sonata is superior in all ways and for several thousand dollars less.

I tested the Toyota Yaris and the Camry before I purchased a 2007 GLS I4 Auto. The I4 is easy to maintain and service (change parts/spark plugs, etc.). It will save you money over the V6 in the long run. The I4 is powerful and economical. The engine compartment is well organized and the quality is high. Quiet at 70+mph on "a smooth" pavement. During my last trip, I got 37 MPG (over 90 miles, speed 60-65 MPH). This is great for an engine during the break-in period (70+mph expect 34+mpg. Mixed expect 30+mpg). 800+ miles with no problems or strange sounds.

Overall, a great buy. Comfortable ride, roomy, adequate performance, quiet. Gas mileage avg 20MPG. A few little quirks: 1) Seats heaters only slightly warm, can hardly feel through your coat. 2) Seats have no lateral support, more like a bench feel than a bucket. Seat bottom way too short to support your legs on longer drives. 3) Radio too high and far away. No matter where you sit, you have to lean forward out of your seat to reach the channel knob and some buttons. 4) Brake pedal soft, spongy and fade under high demand. 5) When cold, squeaks and rattles. 6) XM sound quality awful; cd/mp3/fm sound is fantastic. 7) Steering wheel should tilt, not just raise and lower. Angle is like a bus.

I read everything in sight and did a lot of research. After driving both the 4cyl and the V6 we decided on the 4cyl. Our dealer was very cooperative and let us check the cars out and get in some realistic drive time. It is very responsive and has plenty of get up and go. We have not experienced any of the few negatives that I came across in our research. My daughter has had a Hyundai for 4 years and highly recommended this brand to us.

While very excited about my initial purchase based upon reviews, it was only a week later that creaks, squeaks and clunks began to appear. After three trips to the dealer the problems only seem to be growing, and are the kind of problems I do not expect adequate resolution to be forthcoming despite very good involvment from corporate. I suggest staying with Honda or Toyota. They cost more for a reason.

Leased my Sonata GLS '07 (with extra trim) in Feb 2007. Debated between this and a Jetta but cost-wise I chose Sonata. It is good overall, except comparing to the Jetta, the quality of the sound system of the Sonata is inferior. Also, the seat of the Sonata does not feel as tailored to the passenger as the Jetta seat is. But it is definitely much BIGGER inside. I enjoy the space. I owned a Jetta and enjoyed it and really like the sporty style and feel of it. But now when I look at a Jetta, it seems to look too small! It's a nice change, but I think that being single, I would still go back to a Jetta next time. Get a Sonata though if you have a family. I don't think you could go wrong.

Love this car..it's my second one..I had a 2004 for 19 months and upgraded to a 2007..I've only had the new car 10 days but I can't pry myself away from it..Handles great in the snow with the ESC traction that assists with that. Great value..I've recommended the car to 3 people already.

I was in the market for a new Camry or Accord when I test drove the 07 Sonata. The base GLS model had all of the features that I was looking for, was more roomy on the inside and costs a lot less money than the Honda/Toyota. The warranty is superior as well. I never thought I would own a Hyundai, but they have really stepped it up! And my Sonata was assembled in America.

We bought our sonata less than 2 weeks ago. And honestly we love the car .... but some problems that come standard on some sonatas. Center console makes rattlling noise. Bad shocks on the rear suspension. Also the mode button on the weel was getting stuck. All those parts are going to be replaised by the dealer. But other than that we love the car. And i just wanted to say all that for the people that a going to buy one of those cars. The onlything i didn't like so far is that the car tends to slide from stop on snow but that's why there is the stabiliy control. The red colour ROCKS. Didn't score perfect only because no car is perfect.

While I only have 1400 miles on my '07 leather limited V6, overall it is a nice car on par with Camry & Accord but choose it because of better features for the buck than either. Minor, but nice styling changes since 06. A personal choice: I had them change out the 17" wheels for 16's for better ride with taller sidewalls since this is not a Corvette I plan to be pulling 6G corners with. The engine design is old school and the fuel mileage shows it. Hyundai needs to follow Honda's edge here in engine tech. Also, Hyundai needs to get into the hybrid market with a peppy Sonata hybrid in the 30-40 mpg range.

I have owned my '07 Sonata for 3 months and I am loving every minute of it! It has excellent acceleration, nimble handling, smooth ride, great looks, quiet and roomy. I upgraded from a 2000 Elantra and wow what a difference! Hyundai has really improved their product line. It is very nice looking also. I have the 17 inch alloys and sunroof which really makes a difference on the appearance. If this car didn't have 4 doors I would swear it was a sports car!

This is the best bang for the buck if you are looking for a family sedan, far exceeds the value of the Camry and Honda and exceeds the value of the mid/intermediate class such as the corolla, civic which I compared, The brand will evolve to be a powerhouse and increased market share w/ bring prices higher to where they should be, approx 3-4 higher at least, which is found in the warrenty, nevermind the undervalue price in what really matters ....and thats the bread and butter of the family car, saftey, warrenty, soundness, and comfort. this drives very similiar to a buick century.

I went from a 05'Silverado C.Cab to something more economical and easier to drive. Tired of American vehicle unreliabiliy. Finally a foriegn car that is affordable! The car has everything I could ask for at$18K. I seem to feel a little rough shift from first to second gear but otherwise no problems. My husband is 6'4" and my kids are also tall, so we needed a car that would fit us all with the seat all the way back. Very comfortable, quiet and smooth ride. highly recommend this vehicle, it is impressive.

This car is so much better than the entry level price being charged. Fit and finish are impeccable, controls fall naturally to hand, the ride is almost flawless. Economy is okay but my car isn't broke in yet. Should get better. It would be nice if the manufacturer would put upgrade options on the GLS series in greater numbers. In my opinion the V6 is not necessary.

My 2007 model has a problem with the passenger side air bag system. My wife who is 5'7" and 125 lbs does not always activate the system. The car has been back to the dealer who reports that there was not any problems with the syste. I called Hyundai directly and they said that I should bring the car back to dealer. The instruction manual states that the system will activate when the passenger has the seat back in the full upright position, the seat all the back, no leaning on the center consol or arm rest. On one trip she got in the system went on but when she dozed off and her body moved the system was deactivated. I tested out the system with one of the 5ft 2 girls in my office, no luck.

I have been looking for about 6 months and have driven everything from an '04 Lexus ES, to every new 07 in the same class, including the hyped Camry and Accords (which are nice cars). After driving by the Hyundai dealer many times looking at others, I thought I'd drive one. Wow. For about $8,000 less than a similar optioned Camry I drove off in the new black leather Platinum Edition and have no regrets. Guess I can't tell any more jokes about this company. They truly do make a fantastic car. If your looking for a new car, you owe it to your wallet to drive one of these. Either that or settle for a cloth interior and 4cyl. Accord or Camry and watch me wiz by in comfort and style!

Have the Sonata for two months. I'm past the 1000 mile break in period. The car has a solid, sportier feel than my previous car- a Camry. On a recent 500 mile trip, the car's trip computer says we averaged 31.2 mpg. That's with two adults and luggage. This was interstate driving.

This is an outstanding car for the money. I love the styling and performance let alone the build quality of this vehicle. Hyundai has really stepped up to the plate with offering that rival Toyota and Hyundai. As a matter of fact, the Hyundai Initial Quality ranking by JD Powers came in third to porsche and Lexus. Toyota and Honda lagged behind Hyundai. With the V-6 you will really get a kick out of driving and for all of those sport sedan enthusiast, this Sonata comes with the triptronic shifter, so that you can drive it like it was a manual. This vehicle also beat out the Camy and Accord in the family sedan shootout a few months ago.

I have way too many good things to say about this car that it won't fit here, so I will only discuss the bad things. #1: the ride is on the harsh side. Wheels are 215/55/17, which do not belong on a family sedan. Need to bring them up to 60 series. #2: I have yet to find a perfectly comfortable seating position. Maybe it's because my previous car had bucket seats and wasn't leather, but who knows. Oh, and the lumbar support is a joke. #3: CVT. I may get used to it over time, but right now I'm not a big fan of it. Look it up on wikipedia.com if you don't know what it is. Other gripes I have are in the Suggested Improvements sections. Don't get me wrong, it really is a great car!

At first I thought I really did well getting a Camry-like car for $3000 less. The V6 is smooth, power when you need it etc. The car is comfortable and you sit higher than in most other cars. The heater starts working within a mile. The car would be completely fun to drive BUT The BIG problem is that the 17" rear-suspension makes clunking noises on bumpy city roads. A Nov. fix supposedly doesn't include my VIN (according to dealer). In fact the car is weak on sound proofing There are other noises in this NEW car such as squeaking rear window, A rattle somewhere in the front roof as well. If you want precision carmaking, this is not the car for you - what a disappointment & hassle.

So far so good on a 2007 Sonata Limited. Very comfortable, quiet, smooth ride. Had a 2003 Sonata GLS . . . the 2007 is obviously a big improvement. Hyundai is offering some decent incentives: price at invoice, $1500 rebate, $500 loyal customer rebate and 2.9% financing. Service at the dealership was very very good.

This car is way above what we expected. On smoothly paved roads it is the quietest car I've ever driven. It puts the new Camry to shame in that category. It also puts the Camry and Accord to shame in list of standard features by including SAB, ESC, ABS and traction control. The NHTSA says it is even better than the Accord in its side impact crash test ratings and costs thousands less. Only thing I would change is the look of the climate controls, a little dorky. Otherwise go for it. Oh yes and the warranty package is far better than the Accord and Camry. I feel like a saleperson......

It is scary and i wonder if others have experienced this crazy behavior and what I might do about it. Seems to me that this should not happen with such a nice car in every other respect. WOW! I love this color! Was the first thing I said when I saw my Sonata onthe lot. Now I just say, "WOW, I love this car!" It rides like my grandmother's Cadillac, but handles like my Saburu did. When I first moved to Northern Virginia, I was always making U-turns. There was never a car that could make a U-turn like my Saburu, but now I have a Sonata. Hate to say it, but it is as good as the Saburu! The perfect combination of everything you want in a car! The feel of safety you get the first time you stop on a rain slick road. You know you have the right car, Plus, unbelievable trunk space.

I have owned my 2007 Hyundai Sonata for 2 weeks. After a few days, I realized that when I turn on the rear window defroster there is a lot of interference with the radio reception. Also, some of the defroster "wires" don't work at all. I took the car to the dealership. They confirmed the problems, but didn't repair them. They are currently "talking" to Hyundai to see what they will do. This is ridiculous. This is a NEW car with major problems and Hyundai can't decide what to do. For me, the only option is for them to replace the rear window. I think I made a BIG mistake by purchasing a Hyundai.

Second Sonata, first was '03 that I put 332,360 miles on... most reliable car I ever had so the '07 was a no brainer. Did lots of research over a 6 month period, it all came back to the Sonata Limited. Styling (clean and classy), loads of standard equipment with plenty of safety features and the expectation of the same or better reliablity then my '03 make it the best buy in the marketplace. Car is powerful, smooth and fast. Controls are well placed and have a solid feel. Many thoughtful touches include plenty of storage inside and lit window switches and steering mounted controls. Handles like a true sports sedan. Front seats have great shoulder and back support. Rock on Hyundai!!!.

I've only had my Sonata for a few weeks but so far I love it. It definitely handles really well, and is less bumpy than I thought it would be. I'm 6'2" so I need a fairly large car and the Sonata has more than enough rom for me. The back seat has plenty of room even with my seat almost all the way back. I upgraded to the premium package. I like the power seat, and its pretty comfortable. Volume control on steering wheel is nice. The only thing I dont like so far is that its a 4 speed automatic. Its kind of slow getting going, like after a stop light. It lacks that immediate kiddy up. It has plenty of power on the highway, but going from idle to about 25 MPH is a little slow.

Steering wheel vibrates at 65 and up, feels like wheels are not balanced. Dropped off for service and got it back the way it was. Dealer wrote: wheels rebalanced. I have marked the weights on all wheels, and they were untouched. Great car, bad service. If this will not change Hyundai will have to compete with Chevy not Toyota or Acura like they would like to. The service will make or brake the company, just ask Audi of Usa.

I purchased this car on a whim and I am so glad that I did! I bought the 4 cyl only because I was looking for better gas mileage. This car was an upgrade from my Suzuki Grand Vitara JLS (2000 model). So far, this car is awesome. It looks great, handles beautifully and seems as though it "floats" down the road. I love this car!

Just turned over 2k in mileage. car has been great. averaging 25-26MPG at about 70% hwy driving in hilly western PA. accelerates smoothly. quiet and comfy ride. downshifts a bit quick for my taste when you take your foot off the gas pedal, but some people like it. that is really my only 'complaint' , if you want to call it that, besides the paint. I don't have much of a point of reference, but it seems awful delicate. Within a week a had two sizeable scratches down to the primer from I don't know what.

Overall, like most, I find this car a great value with comfort and convenience equal to the equivalent Accord and the Camry. In addition to all the positive things said about the Sonata, I'd only add that I find the mileage I get to be perfectly suitable. In easy city driving, I'm averaging about 23.5 mpg, and after a 2000-mile interstate trip I just completed, I averaged 28.5 mpg going 75-80 mph, even with one tank of 10% ethanol gas. This seems to me most reasonable and very much in line with the 30 mpg the car lists for a lower speed. Given those figures and all the other positives about the car, it's hard to beat for the price: nice look, good power, overall decent comfort.

The car rides very quietly, accelerates well merging into traffic. Flawless, unnoticeable speed shifts in automatic and incredibly smooth shifting from auto to manual. Car can be downshifted to 3rd gear in a mile+ small grade downhill and will keep 2000 rpm and 40 miles per hour without using the brakes. All the cars around me were riding the brakes. At the end of the hill, one forward push and the car goes back to 4rd gear without hesitation and a medial push of the transmission lever and is back to Auto mode. The trunk is deceiving when looked from ouside but open the trunk and 16 cubic feet of space are ready for any trip planned. The back seats are foldable and very comfortable.

Surprised!

Bought the car for the value, but was surprised at the overall quality of everything. My wife and I both commented the car is very much like our Infiniti I30, handling, ride and all. I30 in 1996 cost us about $10,000 more than what we are paying for the 2007 Sonata. Have only 450 miles on it so far, but hope the reliability is as good as I30. Potential buyer should expect that this car has a firmer and stiffer ride than a boat-like ride of the Camrys. On a rough road, it does give a lot of dull thud sound (not thumps as some people describe in various forums). I hear this types of thuds in almost every car. It is just a matter of degrees, depending on the suspension design.

Love this car. My wife & I wanted a mid- size car that was quiet & rode smooth. I did some research; we rode in the Camry (06) & Altima (06). Altima is a nice car; has more sporty feel & thus not quite smooth as the Sonata. If difference in ride comfort of Sonata & Camry exists then we didn't notice it. Look at the price difference, throw in the warranty, it isn't even a contest. Everyone who sees/rides in our Sonata is sort of stunned. It is a refined car & yet they haven't heard of it. The V4 was peppy, but we opted for V6. We do a lot of highway driving so we wanted the power that a V6 offers. Also, it is more quiet than the V4. Quietness of the V4 pertains to all the models we looked at.

I bought Sonata about a month back, and every morning I feel happy that I made a right choice. I compared Camry, Accord, and Sonata. The base model GLS has all essentials and lot of premium features. Safety features like ABS, ESC, 4 wheel disc brakes, Traction control are all standard. The sound system is of premium quality and has mp3 decoder built in. Interior is specious. Trunk space is huge. The night driving is comfortable due to bright head lights.I own a 2000 Camry, and the Sonata sounds little bit noisier due to wind noise. I get about 28 mpg with 60% freeway and 40% local driving. I have 1100 miles yet and I am hoping the mileage improves from here. Its great value 4 money!!!

The car is very quiet. The performance is excellant and gas miliage on trips has been about 28 to 29 overall. The CD has excellant sound quality. We like the ride and handling. What really sold us in the end was the many std features: Traction control, stability control, ABS, side Air bags, compus, trip computer, warranty ext. We like the features and styling better than the Accord or Camery and the price was very attractive. We liked the looks and feel of the car. In the end is was not a hard decision.

We bought the Sonata as a second car. We checked it out because of its outstanding standard safety features and ratings, great warranty, good reviews in the auto press and outstanding value. Originally was shooting for a 4-cylinder but the prices were so good we ended up with the 6. The fuel economy is somewhat worse but you sure feel the additional power. It's a very quick car. Compared to the Kia Optima - I actually preferred the V6 Optima (dynamically, its looks and the dash design) except for very uncomfortable seats in the Optima. The Sonata is comfortable in town, easy to drive, quiet, roomy, and initial quality is very impressive.

Then got a Tiburon but after 1 week I was hit while at a light by a Truck total loss. Just got a beautiful new Sonata metallic Blue with the great new 3.3 V6 which blows away the V6 in the Tiburon on both Power and Gas mileage. I am really happy with this purchase. Test drove the Accord and '06 Camry. This car beats both of them on performance and feel. Then comparing price and warrantee is what sold it for me. I paid 18000 "Out the Door" for mine. For $1500 more I could get a v4 Accord or Camry. Big deal - the H on my car is an italics H - as opposed to the non-italic Honda H. I like the car's style and feel and general value. No issues. Its quick and fun to drive. I only wish I got the LTD with leather and the better stereo. While not "necessary" they would be nice luxuries for just another $1200.

I went from a bare bones Accent to the Sonata Limited because it was time to move up. I have never owned a car with power anything, cruise, cd, etc. I took my time and checked out other models. It took 6 months or more researching test driving and contimplating price and dealerships. One saturday I test drove 13 cars. Nothing really came close for the price and comfort. I am a large man and the room was incredable. My son (6') sat in the back behind me and he had plenty of knee room. My wife enjoys the heated seats along with all the room she has for her legs. I would recomend this car to anyone. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. It's to comfotable.

After my 7 yr old Elantra got rearended and totalled, I simply went back to Hyundai and bought a Sonata. I wanted to buy another Elantra originally but decided to upgrade. I'm very sad to lose my beloved Elantra who saved me from 3 accidents in total but also I'm happy to be a proud owner of another Hyundai. I strongly trust their safety and reliability. For 7 yrs I had absolutely zero problem with the Elantra. I paid $17,700 for my Sonata with premium pkg after loyalty discount and cash rebate. Pleasant exprience at the dealership. Sonata isn't as quiet as Camry. But still very quiet & great handling esp. at corners. Very roomy and great pickup w/ 4 cyl. Very responsive break. Great car!

I had intended to purchase a Toyota Camry because of strong satisfaction with previous Toyotas. However, the Sonata has more front head room and leg room than the Camry, which is important to me because I'm 6'5" tall. Also I like the looks of the Sonata better than the new Camry. The fact that the Sonata does not have an engine immobilizer system, which is standard in the new Camrys, also influenced me. I feel strongly that potentially unwanted features, such as an engine immobilizer, should be optional not unavoidable. I've only had my Sonata for a little over a week, but so far I'm very pleased with it. I bought the 4-cylinder GLS model for fuel economy and find it to be quite peppy.

My 2007 Sonata Limited is best combination of price and features in it's class. Offer more features than either Honda LX V6 or Camry SE V6 yet beats them in price by over $4,000 dollars and has much better waranty coverage. Car is quick, comfortable and materials are excellent. Anyone looking for a mid-priced sedan should see the merits of the Hyundai over Honda and Toyota.

I did not expect such excellent quality from Hyundai. Well this one with 5M runs like a Lexus IS300. Well actually better than the Lexus. The top two Japanese brands such as Honda and Toyota won their high reputation over the past couple decades. I think Hyundai will achieve the same high reputation within the next two years. This 06 Sonata outperforms Toyota Camry and Honda Accord not only by the price advantage but also by its built quality and superior performance!

They wern't too pushy either like most other dealerships we've been to. Test drove Civic, Camry, Accord and nothing came close to matching the value of the Sonata. Everything you need is standard at a better price than the others. Also much easier to make a good deal at the dealership. As I prepared to replace my wifes 2000 Ford Contour, I went with a clean slate and looked at everything. The Ford had been a good car with no problems in 75K miles. After looking at, studying (thanks Edmunds) and driving everything from Infinities to Camry's to Accords, I bought the Sonata Limited. While we have not put a lot of miles on it yet, my initial impressions are very strong for this car, even in the class of competition it had. I live in Los Alamos NM, with steep mountain grades and a base altitude of 7200' and rising. I test drove a Sonata GLS for a weekend prior to buying (with the same V6 powertrain) and was quite impressed. The Limited that I recently bought is even more impressive, quite a bit more so than even the Hyundai Azzera, which I also test-drove extensively. This is an EXTREMELY FINE automobile thus far in all respects, even though I paid too much due to the negative equity on my Ford trade. Nonetheless, I have NO REGRETS whatsoe

According to JD Power & CR, Huyndai's have better initial quality and overall dependability than Toyota and Honda for 2006, which is consistent with Edmunds Sonata, Camry, and accord midsize shootout with cars evenly priced. After the research, I found myself in a car with a 10 year warranty (instead of 3), better initial quality by JD Power, greater dependability by Consumer Reports, Na V6 w/235 HP, full curtain side airbags, Vechile Stability Control, Traction Control, full power, a sun roof, Alloy wheels, great interior fit and finish, more interior space, a quiet er ride that accord or camry with a auto manual shifter and performance to match. After test driving the Camry and Accord, I was unable to find a $5,000. difference. I found the Sonata to be equal in most comparable aspects except perhaps mileage (17.26 mpg in city). I feel after purchasing my Sonata for $19,761. I can buy a lot of gas with the savings. The luxurious interior incl. leather, auto driver seat, multi use rear view mirror, arm rest console, automatic power door locks (need to be activated) and a HUGE trunk are my first impressions. Hyundai's superior warranty is great for me and those who like to keep their cars a long time.

Fuel-efficient and Nicely designed

This car rides very good, very fast too, got a lot of power. I had a hard time adjusting my foot on the pedal, because it moves very fast. Other than that, the A/C is so powerful, big trunk space and lots of features. But it's really a good ride.

I had a surprise!

My husband chose this car for me, and I was not quite happy because I wanted a Toyota. Today, seven months later, I am so grateful, because I love my Sonata, its so nice to drive, I feel so safe in it and so comfortable that my next car will be a Sonata.
