Awesome Car Buying Experience

Customer Service: 5.0 Buying Process: 5.0 Overall Facilities: 5.0

It was a very nice experience. Normally I hate going to a dealership to purchase a vehicle. I found my vehicle online and sent a request to schedule an appointment to see the car. I liked the fact that I was not hounded by phone calls. I received an email and a text. My salesman, Danny Norton was knowledgeable and courteous. It didn't take long for us to make a decision that this was the car for us. We requested that the car windows be tinted and Danny took the time to drive to my office the next day and pick up my car and take it in to get the windows tinted. I am very pleased with my experience with Lakeside Chevrolet and its staff.

I'm approaching 190k miles on my '06 Tundra. I drove it off of the lot with 9 miles on the odometer. The truck is great and have had no major issues with this truck. I have replaced the front brakes twice, the rear once. I have replaced the serpentine belt and spark plugs only one time. It seems the older the truck gets, the better the mileage is. Currently, I'm getting 17 mpg running regular unleaded fuel. I've had no leaks on any of the seals on the engine, transfer case, or differential. The truck rides as if it was new, with little road noise, vibration, or any unusual sounds that would raise concerns. If you are in the market and can find this truck with low mileage, I highly recommend this truck. My only complaint is that it only has the 4.7L 271hp engine, which is weak, but it will pull your trailer if you find the right gear.

Owned a T-100 SR5 as a dealer offer for a problematic 98 Tacoma lemon. Great truck but the later TUNDRA was THE answer. Now on my 5th Tundra(all have been used buys). 2 Access Cabs(the rear door opening was a pain) and 3 Double Cabs(1 SR5 and 2 LTDs)-always a superb performing tool and toy for fun. Just found the latest Limited with all the options in NYC - 14,000 miles and drives as new as it was only used to drive to church on Sundays. For those hauling/towing a load-yes-the 07 and newer do the job better but for a roomy truck(no towing) that rides/drives like a luxury vehicle on the highway/none better. The rule is how much FUN do you want to have and HOW MUCH are you willing to pay for that FUN! Some want a Porshe-some a RAM/F150/SILVERADO. The 06 TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB 4WD LIMITED is my FUN and does it extremely well as it was the last year of that body style. Air bag recall a noted problem but not TOYOTA's fault-Takata's fault! Just wished I would have bought one new in 06! So choose wisely on YOUR version of FUN! And enjoy the RIDE!!!

Got as my first truck and have since put over 20k miles on it, and even though im just turning the corner too 200k, still runs flawless. enough room in the back for a dog, guns, and waders. big thing for me was the bigger bed, buddys got a tacoma and cant put anything in it. i can fit two mowers, two edgers, two blowwers, two weedeaters, and couple bags of debris in mine. All around solid truck and the v6 is solid and pulls my 18 whaler just fine.

It's big, it's long, and you're gonna love it.

The double cab gives this truck a very long wheelbase which is great for ride comfort, but bad for turning radius. Also, it makes the truck heavy, so fuel economy takes a bit of a hit. Probably between 16 and 17 MPG on average. Some of the radio controls became "wonky" or uncooperative with age. If you're the "do-it-yourself" type, some standard maintenance tasks are pretty simple on this truck. I replaced the serpentine belt in about 15 minutes having never done one before, and I also replaced the front brake pads and rotors in an afternoon. (I tried to get the rotors turned, but they just needed to be replaced, so that ate up some time.) For auto-mechanic ability, I'm probably about a 5, but these jobs were easier than I expected.

This is the perfect size for a truck. I've owned three F150's and none felt as comfortable as this truck. So far I've had zero problems (other than it loves to drink gas). My mileage will actually go down and I expect to hit 100k miles around year 2025. With Toyota holding value so well I expect to get most of my money back when it comes time to sell (just before 100k miles).

my 2006 just hit 30,000 miles. i bought the 7 year extended warrenty and that expired 2 years ago. eveything on the truck leaks or toyota lies and tells me something is broke. yes 30,000 miles. i just got my rear manifold fixed. toyota said the gasket was leaking. 450 dollars later another mechanic found it was not leaking. im out of that money. toyota wont stand behind what they say. my water pump is leaking. a whole bunch of other stuff is leaking. they want 2000 buck now for the other stuff. i dont know if i want to sell the truck or nickle and dime it to death. just confused as to what to do. everyone says its the cheapest truck to own. im just not to sure any more.

My previous Toyota truck was a 1992 4WD V6 with a 5-speed. I racked up over 285,000 miles on it with no problems. Take care of your Toyota, it will take care of you. Same has held true for my 2006 Tundra. I found an extremely rare 2006 SR5 Access Cab with the 4.0L and a 6-speed manual transmission and had to have it. Bought it in 2011 with 181,000 miles. Miles mean nothing on Toyotas if they have been maintained. Replaced the shocks with Bilstein HD's (Yellow), and it made it ride like a new truck! With 220,000 miles on it, I am ready to declare my Tundra the worthy successor to the Beast! Had one single failure, a bad coil, which was easy to replace. 400,000 here I come!

Have the 2006 Toyota Tundra Limited. Best truck. Comfortable, fun to drive, luxury interior, and solid reliability. The truck has 100,000 miles on it and no problems whatsoever. Maintenance is cheap. MPG isn't great, but it is a truck with V8 power. Solid offroader, great for firewooding and hunting. You won't find a better value. This truck defensibly definitely beats the American competitors.

Bought this truck used with 14,000 miles in 2008. Now has 56,000 miles and needs it's first pair of brakes. It's a V8 so gas/fuel consumption is not like a PRIUS so I'm not whinning. I average 18 mpg mix hwy/city and about 19-20 hwy. Tows my 18' Lund fishing boat nicely. 6' bed is a must, I didn't buy a new Tundra because of the bed. The crew cab is great, handles 5 adult passenger w/ ease. Interior is ok, when it's cold, it creeks when you go over bumps. Parking is a-ok, like any truck, it won't have turning radius like my wife's Lexus. Overall, I love it, and plan on keeping it for a LONG LONG LONG time! These trucks are also hard to come along. If I find another one, I might snatch er' up

Bought in 2008 with 18000 miles and have put 30000 on it since then. I used it for 2 years for my carpentry business. Rear sliding window came in handy picking up lumber. My father has a 2004 SR5 and the 2006 rides much more car-like than the 2004. It really feels smooth and is an all around great truck. Used to drive a Chevy but had problems with the transmission at 30K miles and the dealership wouldn't do anything for us (after our family had bought 4 cars from them). Will never go back after driving this truck! I love this thing!

We purchased our burgundy Tundra Double Cab Limited 2WD new...had all options: sunroof, leather, 6-disc in-dash changer and dealer installed Borla exhaust (which sounded great--it was the wife's truck and she wanted a truck that sounded like a truck). Our Tundra performed wonderfully but we sold it when gas prices shot over $4/gal because it really was only being used as a commuter-got about 16 in town and could squeeze out 20 on the highway. As a boutique truck it did great--smooth ride, 5 adults could travel in comfort and the full size bed w/ tonneau cover could carry ridiculous amounts of luggage.

I purchased this Toyota with about 44,000 miles on it and owned it for about a year. I did about 12,000 miles in it and never encountered any reliability issues. It was fairly powerful and quite fun to drive; it felt lighter and the handling felt more responsive than my father's F-150 but I found it harder to park. I eventually got in the habit of parking it in reverse which was much easier than parking forward. I am a careful driver and can usually get better than estimated MPG but I found that I was unable to improve this truck's MPG much with careful driving. The car felt well built and the interior was solid, although I did have some problems with paint peeling from the front bumper.

Most reliable truck I have owned. Real fun to drive. Have to deal with drive line bumping when stopped which I understand is common for 2006 trucks from Toyota and Ford. Not a problem in terms of performance or safety. Just an annoyance. Performs more like a car. Last year of a true midsized pickup. 2007 they went huge with Tundra. It is a great size for functionality, comfort and handling.

Bought it new, and it ran like a dream. Then at about 20-25K miles, the brakes started going bad. On slippery roads, whenever I stepped on the brake pedal, it'd seize up and the truck would take forever to stop. Brought it to the dealer, who said the brakes are perfect. Dealt with it for another 40K miles (yes, I should've gotten rid of it). It's at the point that when there's even the slightest bit of rain or snow on the road, the whole truck shakes violently when I try to brake. Tried pressing my entire weight on the brake, and the truck slowly comes to a stop. I've almost gotten killed twice. Google it. You'll see. Total nightmare. Dealer says it's "normal for this model".

I have owned a Ford, and a Chevy truck this Tundra by far is the best I have owned. Mine has the bench with the fold down arm rest and I love it. I fit six pretty big guys in there with no problem. I have pulled trailers that weighed close to 6500 lbs and it felt like nothing was back there...The truck is rated kind of low for towing but I think it can handle most loads...I actually average about 19.2 mpg overall and thats a 6 month avg. Low maintenance Great overall truck...We are Toyota Family and would recommend this truck to anyone looking for one. I am ready for my next one in about 20 years.........

Thus far, I love this truck. I've owned it for 2 weeks and love getting in it to drive to work, home, anywhere! The sound of the V8 humming is great. The feel of the Off-road suspension is nice and stiff, but not overly stiff. There's plenty of get-up and you feel as if the truck is always pushing forward as you accelerate (that is, the automatic shifts very smoothly without loosing any power during shifts). Turning corners are a breeze in this truck. While driving, you feel on top of the world with the 17" wheels and rims added to the 4x4 off-road suspension. All-in-all, this truck is a dream to drive and overall, gas mileage isn't too bad for a truck. I'd highly recommend it.

Because it was such a beast to park, we traded our 2004 Tundra crew cab for a new Frontier but later missed the cushy Tundra ride. Several weeks ago we purchased a 2006 Access Cab with only 12,800 miles. It has the very comfortable captain's chairs with the short console. What a pleasure to take a trip in this baby. I was leary of getting the V-6 but the 5 speed automatic is programmed to work very well with this engine. Every power option works as a Toyota is expected to work. Even the back seats are large enough for small adults or grandchildren. This is a "real truck" without the bulk of other full size brands or the bounce of the smaller trucks.

With all its faults, I love my truck. Great lease price, not a single mech. problem in 50K miles. Seats feel a little loose and have been to dealer several times to no avail. Gas mileage stinks on this as a daily driver no towing anything, but love the comfort and power. Also mirror on doors slightly loose.

Great Truck! Down sides: Needs better lumbar support, Big turning radius (I'm used to my old pathfinder), windshield scratches easily. I love this truck more every time I drive it. Plenty of power, I don't even know my 19' bass boat is back there. Highway passing is effortless. Gets the same mileage whether I'm towing or not (18 mpg). Plenty of room for me and my family (I'm 6'1 and my kids are huge). Hands down the best I looked at and drove, period.

This truck is an all around great truck. It has never needed to be cranked more than one time to start even at 40,000 miles. This truck has gotten excellent fuel economy too! I've done about 550-600 miles on full tank, which I couldn't believe, remembering it's a V8. I took it to the dealer for the recall it had and it drives a little different from before but still not bad. Everything works as it should and this truck couldn't impress me more. No American car can compare to the reliability of this one.

Still drives awesome in city or highway and wife feels comfortable driving also. On nice flat roads with cruise control I'll get 20+mpg, I had to do the calcs twice to confirm. Plenty of room in back for my fellow softballers, headroom and leg room, no complaints. Installed hard cover on bed and love the locking tailgate, plenty of room for our ballbags.

After having many chevy/gmc trucks, I was ready to get a truck I wouldn't be disappointed with. My SR5/TRD has been a pleasure to own & fun to drive. I look forward to the next time I have to drive somewhere. Having the tow package w/ 4.10 gears & the transmission oil cooler allows me to feel very confident that it's capable to handle any task the domestic trucks will do. With that in mind, the gear setting is also why I don't get good gas mileage(& I have a heavy right foot, LOVE the power). To sum things up, I wanted a smaller truck with full size capabilities & found it in the 06 Toyota TUNDRA SR5 access cab w/ TRD Off Road.

I love the truck more and more everyday. I bought it 7/31/06. I was a Chevy man to the core, traded a 00 Silverado ext. cab to get this truck. I have used it to tow everything from my 24 ft. pontoon to my 25 ft. camper. I tested 06 Silverado and Ram crew cabs, they didn't compare to this truck overall. Had a bigger bed than the 06 Silverado and interior is just as comfortable. All the Dodge had going for it was that gas-sucking hemi. Toyota in my opinion had it beat everywhere else. If Toyota ever produces a diesel, I will never drive anything else. That is the only way you will ever get decent fuel mileage towing a camper. Great looking truck too. Large truck fuel economy though.

This is my fifth Toyota truck. It is not as reliable as the other four. Delivered it with a badly warped disc brake rotor. I had the front rotors replaced. I also had the recalled ball joints replaced. Now, at 18,000 miles, the outside of the right front tire is worn bald. The auto-dimming rear view mirror and the Homelink circuits have been repaired twice.

I really missed not having a truck for the past 5 years. With the $4 a gallon gas I found some amazing deals out there on barely used trucks. I usually commute on a 52mpg motorcycle so fuel mileage is irrelevant to me. Having said that I average 19.1 gallons in the tundra with a easy driving style. It will get over 20mpg on road trips @70-75 mph. I wanted a double cab with at least a 6' bed which ruled out a lot of trucks. I drove a dodge and ford but they seemed to lack refinement and power. Overall I am very happy with the truck its the limited so its loaded with very nice JBL 6 disc changer, plenty of interior room, excellent ride smooth and quiet.

Bought the vehicle new, V8 with TRD package. It came with a 3" lift kit and 20" rims from the dealer. I'm averaging 16 mpg. The odometer is off by .1 and the odometer by 5 mph due to bigger wheels/tires. Plan to try K&N air filter and maybe a performance muffler such as Flomaster. Overall the truck handles well and is fun to drive. I have as good or better ground clearance than stock 4x4's from other manufacturers. I replaced the radio/CD player but kept the stock speakers as they sound pretty good.

I have had this surprisingly powerful workhorse for 2.5 yrs. now and and quite pleased. It hauls like a truck but drives like a car. It has power and the rear sliding window handles 20 foot boards. I've hauled full pallets of wallstone with little sway. Perfect for work and family. Only problems have been large turning radius and transmission with cruise on gets finicky. Test drove a Titan, a Ram and F-150 and pleased with my selection. Have power everything, all works great. Cup holders 4 full crew, plenty of storage compartments all over the place. Truck NOT heavy duty, but hauls well. Fuel 16c-19 hwy

Bought this truck new; despite the updated bodystyle, this truck gets looks. Purchased the XSP package, everyone asks me about the 20" tires & rims. I tell them it came with the package. Truck has been extremely reliable, will tow & carry whatever I need it to. Do not drive much (only about 7K per year), the gas mileage is what it is; a consistent 15 mpg around town.

I have had this vehicle just over two years. I had an 03 access cab but with a growing family, needed the extra room. I mostly drive in the city and I am averaging around 17 MPG. I would of liked a bit more. The paint, while not bad, easily dings and scratches. Parking, as has been mentioned before, is a chore, so I park way out at most places. The transmission seems to have a hard time finding the correct gear, specially when using the cruise. The automatic downshifting when going downhill is also annoying. Otherwise, I wish it had a little better acceleration. Also, it eats front tires. Alignment OK though. Overall, decent truck, but it doesn't really stand out in any particular category.

I posted back on 4/30/06 and I wanted to comment again. I've owned my Tundra 2 1/2 years now and I'm totally satisfied. I did put flowmasters 70 series (duals) on it and I'm very pleased. Additionally, I did put a K&N filter in it as well. I like the sound of it but more importantly my MPG is decent now. I don't drive like a race car driver but I do use it like a truck. City driving I get 16-17. Highway is 19 to 22. Here is the secret... 70 MPH is where I stop getting 20 MPG or better. It drops down to 18-19 MPG.

This truck rocks!

The more I drive it, the more I like it! I Just took a trip to a wild park north of where I live, 400 kilometers round trip, I was driving normally, using the air conditioning, I got 23.5 miles per gallon, U.S. gallons, I think that is pretty good! I use it to haul my snowmobile up to the mountains and drive to work. I just put a K&N reusable air filter on it this week, I noticed a little more snap off the line, but it was already a very quick little truck. All in all I am very happy with it.

Salsa Red color is gorgeous. The 4-wheel drive is as impeccable as my 2000 Tundra Access Cab. The ride is quiet and comfortable at all speeds. My wife loves the heated seats and steering wheel-mounted radion controls. Great visibility (taller than my 2000 Tundra vecause of the 18" wheels). The power rear window is great (and quiet) for open air driving. Hardly know my boat trailer is there when pulling it. Mileage is excellent (18.3 mpg overall since purchase).

I have owned both Ford and Chevys in the past and the '06 Tundra SR5 Double Cab is by far the best I have ever owned. Only two complaints, fuel mileage and turning radius. Both of these are minor complaints due to the fact that this is a big truck, and you cant expect to get mileage in the 20's with something this size or expect to turn it like a corolla. I sure when (if) I wear this one out, I will be purchasing another full size Toyota. It is extremely comfortable and fun to drive and has plenty of power to haul my needs.

Very useful and comfortable to drive, great cargo in the back, fun to drive, but painful to park, I had trucks all my life, the worst direction and ratio.

Durable and reliable, this truck rides like a nice sedan. Radio remote on steering wheel changes am, fm, cd, volume, stations. Nice large console. Lockable bed. Large size takes getting used to if you haven't been driving a large truck. Mileage is not good but is typical of a large pickup.

This is an excellent, well built vehicle. It handles very well on or off road. Well worth the initial cost. I don't need to worry about it breaking down. Had a Dodge which does not even come close to comparison from the start (i.e. engine & transmission dependability even the first 100k miles). Everything, from how the doors fit shut to how it handles driving, it is a well built vehicle with a group of mechanics that take the time and effort to keep tight specs and pride in their work. The time spent for quality in product, logical engineering and not just pushing a product out the door to just make a buck has a great product being produced. Thank you Toyota, for the grand work!

This is my second Tundra, owned the 2000 when it first came out, with never a problem. The '06 had recall for new lower ball joints, never had a problem with it. The 2000 was never in the shop, not once. The '06 as a recall as mentioned and 2 oil changes but I usually do my own. This is one reliable truck very responsive and tough with good fuel economy for its size. I would not hesitate to own another, sold on the quality of the vehicle. The ride is excellent, have made several trips to haul various things. Pulls my utility trailer loaded and with the bed loaded too very well. Can put a 1/2 ton on the tailgate and ride. The truck can haul a heavy load. Tundra is one solid truck.

I love this truck. Very comfortable to drive. Stable in curves if not pushed real hard (not a sports car). Decent gas mileage I get 18 all around and 20+ on trips. Ride height gives great vision of road. I bought the 2006 because I liked the smaller truck better than the larger 2008.

My wife and I just love this truck and the color salsa red. We have the x-sp package with the 18" enkei alloy w/tire upgrade. I have no problem towing my boat or trailer with the truck. I like side molding w/chrome inserts. I like the double wall cargo bed with rail caps and locking tailgate and chrome step tubes. This truck rides like a car, very smooth and takes the bumps very well, that is why my wife likes to drive it. If you watch the lights and don't punch the gas when you take off, you can get 16 mpg in the city and 19 on the highway, the best i got was 21 on the highway and 16 in the city. The arm rests are a little small for anyone.

Truck is very well made but with gas at an all time high, don't think it will hold its value very long. Like the large back doors it has and the hand grips in the front make it easy to get into. The carpet seems a little cheap and I don't think the leather will hold up for the long hall. They put in a cheap radio and cd player and the middle compartment is to low between the front seats. The seat adjustments in the front are not that good seem cheap and the arm rest are very small for a large persons arm. Lots of room under the hood if you need to work on anything under there and oil filter is easy to get to but hard to not get oil all over. Paint job so far has kept up well.

This truck is a great value for those looking for a balance between work and play. It will easily get your boat to the lake and your landscaping trailer to the job site. It handles moderate payloads comfortably and is comparable to most trucks in its class. The interior fits 5 adults comfortably and the controls are simple and straight forward. It does everything a pickup is supposed to while having a extremely comfortable ride. If you carry a lot of tools and other nic nacs, you will need a tool box due to lack of interior storage. The upside is, the bed is a full half-foot longer than the Titan, F-150, and Silverado Crew Cabs. You won't have to give up a lot of bed space for it.

I've had it for a year and I really enjoy it. Live in SA hillcountry and tow 6300lbs TT and get 10MPG with 89 octane. Very solid towing truck with plenty of torque on the climbs. 3 large adults and 1 small child and a dog share most of the ride and all give it a thumbs up. I like the transmission brake or downshift with descents, it helps with controlling the vehicle.

I bought this truck at the end of 2006. I love the ride this truck has, and the power is sufficient to pull my 5,000 lb boat. The truck does downshift when going down hills, but besides that, I've had no problems. Gas mileage is a little lower than I'd hoped for. I only get close to 18 mpg highway when I've got cruise control on going no faster than 60. Good truck overall.

Bought this truck new, drove 15,000 miles and waited almost a year to do this review. Have also read other reviews. Yes, the transmission shift points and brakes took time to get used to, but now that I am used to them, I better appreciate the way they are designed and operate - and I like them. Tows my 6,000 lb boat and trailer adequately. Highway ride is great - I prefer over my wife's Lexus GX 470. Gas mileage has met my expectations at 17-18 mpg around town and on the road (reason I do not trade up for a 07 big engine). What I especially like is the value for the price: leather, stability control, side curtain air bags and all the practical accessories I needed.
