No one should have to pay 500.00 dollars to change spark plugs EVER. But that is the cost to disassemble the front of van and to remove the whole fuel intake. The power doors are horrible. The dealer tried fixing but it worked about 3 months. Plus during there repair they busted plastic molding piece and put a little piece of some type of rubber substance thinking it would hold. It didn't had to break off on freeway so it didn't kill anyone. The 17" rims on XLE model are impossible to keep in balance tried many different tires. So if you like a van that you need to balance tires to go on freeway this is for you. The only redeeming grace is we don't need to drive on freeway to get to work or grocery store.

Purchased new in 2006 and driven only on well paved roads in an urban environment. Additional more frequent than would normally be expected of the Toyota brand, I consider excessive. All routine and recommended maintenance and or repairs was done always according to recommended schedule or Toyota service dept recommendations. The cabin design and comfort of this vehicle are outstanding. Reliability from a mechanical perspective has been VERY disappointing. Also, there have been numerous service bulletins and recalls over the years I owned and have driven this vehicle. Toyota always has been rated highly but my experience is such that the brand would not be my frost choice in the future nor could I recommend it to others. Also, my repair experience history leads me to question and wonder how Toyota receives consistently hi reviews .....what drives these reviews, what really motivates the rankings Toyota receives? My Sienna will not be one of those that supposedly is driven 200,000+ miles. Doing so is far too costly in repair bills.

This van does everything I've ever asked it to do; and with grace and poise. It's a very composed and comfortable highway cruiser; and I can ferry my 70+ year old Mother (with severe back problems) around town with no complaints. I've used it for annual ski vacations to very snowy & hilly upstate NY and north of Quebec City. I had no trouble on the roads nor in hilly unplowed parking lots. The Sienna also works well as a car-camper: roll up the back seats, inflate an air mattress and go to sleep! And it isn't a bore to drive. My other car is a Honda S2000; the Sienna isn't all THAT. But, the V6 accelerates confedently in traffic and it can haul a full load of adults through the mountains (at or above the speed limit) at normal revs. It goes where you point it. And, brakes without drama. Maintenance has consisted of changing the oil and changing and rotating the tires. I have a great deal of appreciation for this vehicle and the people who designed it. GREAT vehicle. I'd buy another.

What a money pit!

I love this van, I really do, but we have had so many expensive issues that I'm just done with it. Navigation went out last year, so we no longer have radio, cd, or DVD capability. Both power doors went out. Rear view mirror was possessed and would move on its own and eventually stopped working. Tires need replaced every 15,000 miles and are very expensive. Mechanically it's in good condition, but to not have any of the electrical components working is rediculous! As well as it drives, as comfortable as it is, and as roomy it is, I will never buy Toyota again.

It took me nine months of research before buying my van new. I got a great deal and I have never regretted my decision. My van now has over 305,000 miles on it and I have never broke down anywhere! I get all of the regular servicing and repairs done at the dealership (always using their coupons) and have spent less than $1,500 on repairs over the years including: a/c blower, wheel bearing, new callipers and drums, as well as recently a new starter. I can only hope and pray that the next vehicle I purchase will be as reliable!

Still love my Sienna.

Update on Sienna as of 9/10/16: The van's engine still runs strong and I've had no problems with the engine or transmission since purchasing the van new. However, I have been disappointed with the parts that have been replaced on the van by a Toyota dealership not lasting like I feel they should. Seems I am only getting 1/2 life on the replaced Toyota parts such as the rack-n-pinion, shocks, struts, and axles. The original parts lasted me over 215,000 miles, and these genuine Toyota replacement parts haven't even lasted 90,000 miles. A big disappointment. I am writing this review in March of 2014. I've owned my Sienna since it was new. I now have over 250,000 miles on my van. It has given me little problem over the years. I purchase 90,000 mile/warranty Michelin tires, and they usually wear unevenly and need replacing before they hit 50,000. This is with regular alignments & tire rotations done at the same time I have the oil changed at 5,000 miles. Other than this, the van has given me little problem. I've been very happy with my van

It is acceptable for you to expect go through (2) transmissions on a family owned and operated mini van to get 150K miles out of a $40K "luxury" vehicle? First transmission was "replaced" at 57K, under warranty. Currently at 148K miles. Facing a $2000 bill from the Toyota dealer for a transfer case seal repair. Called Toyota. Assigned a "Case Manager", Dan. He states since there is no service record with Toyota after drive train warranty expired and the car has 148K miles, Toyota is not accountable. He would not transfer me to a supervisor and hung up on me. I called back and am waiting for a return call from a "Supervisor". Our first and last Toyota purchase.

I love driving. Always have. When, professionally my hauling needs exceeded the Saab and BMW wagons I've had, I hunted for a van. Ultimately, the combo of power folding mirrors, gated shifting, sunroof and no run-flats was what sold me. Not passion. I just needed those things to be content. I found a CPO 40,000 mile XLE that had been well taken care of. Then I added a Diamond Certified Toyota warranty when I found out they were pretty cheap. It was a total surprise to realize this rig is a great driver. You have to shift it manually to really use the transmission best, both for accelleration and braking but carving HWY 1 in rural Marin County is a blast. at 125k now, it's still super. Update, 6/27/16 The Sienna now has 178,000 miles. Still quite stunning. We also bought a newer 2011 Sienna Limited. I think I still like the '06 better. In hindsight, the seats are better, acceleration feels matched and the van at this high mileage is still in rattle-y compared to the 2011 which has low grade rattles all over. We do need to replace some expensive a/c systems but after a recent fluid chance and safety checkup, the mechanic couldn't stop raving about how tight and strong it is. We agree. A very solid automobile. I've never owned anything with this many miles and I still trust it implicitly.

It's been close to 5 years (just hit 100K miles) and worked fine until now. Automatic sliding door is not working (won't close/open); I have to pull to make automatic door slides which is very inconvenient. I did not expect to have this kind of build quality from Toyota.

This van has been a fantastic vehicle for almost seven years, ferrying our family from the Atlantic to the Pacific without fail. The 3.3 seems stronger than the 215 hp rating, and the mileage is consistently 20 mpg in town, and 26 mpg regularly on the highway. In 114K miles, I've done 2 front brake jobs, 3 sets of tires, 1 timing belt service, 2 top-offs of the A/C system for a slow leak, and a shock that was replaced under warranty at 38K - that's it. In thirty years of owning vehicles, both domestic and imported, the Sienna has been the most trouble-free of all of them.

Purchased a 2006 CE 7 passanger Sienna new. The vehicle now has 160,000 kms. The vehicle had some early issues. The air bag light came on and took 2 years to resolve. Had to fight Toyota and dealer all the way. Finally replaced main wiring harness. Also had to replace drivers door (yes the whole door) due to broken hinges. All covered by Toyota. Other than that the vehicle has been good. It has plenty of power and is comfortable on long trips. My van is a box stock CE. From what I hear people with the fancy ones have more problems.

My Sienna has always been garage kept, low miles, used by a stay at home mom. My dash board has cracked from passenger side all the way to the driver side. Also, the car has never been wrecked. Contacted Toyota - typical response - out of warranty then we can't help you. It's kinda funny, because my husband just bought a Sequoia. Hubby thought maybe we will replace my car with another Toyota since dealer was negotiating. My repsponse was I won't own another Toyota!

Unfortunately, I have to say that after 6 years my Sienna XLE is falling apart around me. All the trim inside the vehicle have or are in process of breaking. The CD player stopped working when the car was 4 years old, the radio goes in and out when it rains or doesn't work at all. The brakes had to be replaced at 38,000 miles, belts replaced, tires OHHH the Run Flat saga. I have never had more flat tires than with the run flats (ironically enough). I personally can not recommend this vehicle to anyone and after a lifetime of owning and driving Toyotas I will not be purchasing another one. Another car company that forgot what made them great. So Sad.

I bought my 06 Sienna new and have had many electronic issues. Radio went out within the first week, followed by airbag sensors. The brakes had to be replaced at 30k. I have 93k and have had the tires replaced three times. This van is a great driving vehicle but it is simply too expensive to maintain. Now my AC has gone out for a 2nd time. It was a $1200 bill the first time and I am praying it will be covered for this repair. I will never own another Toyota and my Sienna will be gone soon. Going American all the way from now on.

We love our van. My only complaint is the tires, but the guy at Discount Tires explained to me that it is because the van is very front heavy. The back tires do fine. I have had to replace the tires on the front 3 times, and I am getting ready to replace the tires on the front. When I replace the move the older tires to the fron. and put the new ones on the back. So, so I will be on my 3rd set of tires. Other than that no complaint. We love it for road trips

I have owned both 04 and 06 sienna Le model. 04 model had numerous issues with a/c and for 06 it got a minor face lift so we sold it with only 20k miles of use. The 06 le was perfect, had 40k miles of use, mechanically perfect, never had issue with brakes, engine, axles, trans, doors like most other people are complaining about. we averaged 22 mpg in its entire life, mixed city/hwy use. Honestly brakes are still had over 70% life left. My only gripe was it had a noisy acceleration, it likes to rev low, great for gas mileage, and provides a super quiet in cruising mode. It does shop for gears if you have it on cruise control especially climbing gears, so I just take it out of cruise.

Bought the Sienna after my Caravan died 4 years ago. I hate to say that this Sienna has been worse maintenance- wise than my Caravan. I'm on my third set of brakes, my power door locks have all been replaced and my A/C compressor went out twice. Every time I take it in to have the power door locks fixed they look get this look on their faces like it's the first time they've ever seen the problem although a friend of mine who works at a Toyota dealership told me it's been a fleet wide problem for years to include the same 4 Lexus door locks I've had replaced. Now my left CV joint is clanking. The staff at the dealership acts like they work at Rolls Royce or something. Frustrating.

Very unhappy with this vehicle. Have less than 70k on this car and already on 3rd set of tires. Rear door hold opens have failed and they cost nearly $300, and now the A/C compressor is out. New part is more than $1,000. Transmission has always shifted sluggish and the fuel tank is too small for the fuel economy of this vehicle. This car is a money pit. It just stays parked most of the time now. I hate it!

Having owned several Toyota vehicles dating back to the 70's, I am truly disappointed in the recent quality of their vehicles. Brakes wear prematurely, CV joints are bad, and automatic sliding door went out. All before 50,000 miles. And of course, all of these repairs are very expensive. No more Toyotas in my future.

A lot of repairs due to everyday use, parts and labor at dealer very expensive. Build with very cheap materials that break unusually fast dealer and Toyota will blame you for anything that you touched or used on the vehicle even the radio that you listen to is your fault. My first and believe me last Toyota to buy. Happy with my other Nissan and infinity trucks that I own for far more years of service and far less problems!

Had to replace 1st set of runflat tires at 23K miles ($600+). New brake pads and rotors turned at 40K miles. The "alloy" wheels are peeling. Will soon need to replace the second set of runflat tires @ 47K miles. I would put regular tires on it if there was a place for a spare. Not the quality I expected when I purchased it, first Toyota purchased and probably the last.

I had purchased a used Odyssey with leather seats and dvd and I loved it but found out it had been crashed and not fixed right so we went back to the dealer and we traded it in for the sienna. I hate the seats, you lean back to rest and it is like laying on a brick, we have 80,000 miles and the a/c is acting up. The cd player and radio for the last 10,000 miles has been very strange some days you cant see any of the words on the radio and then it just stops working then it will work then stop again later. The one thing I noticed is when I accelerate it shifts hard and almost has a jerking noise. It has been really reliable that I am thankful for.

Toyota needs a compass because they have lost their way. I have owned other Toyotas and they never needed more than maintenance items. Not so with my Sienna. After only 4 years the front air conditioning failed. Then the passenger side sliding door failed. I was upset that it had broken, but thought it would take a $100-$200 part to get the problem fixed. Was I ever wrong. Toyota charges $1,100 just for the part and no company makes an after- market part! You have to take the door completely off the car to fix it. With the old Toyota it wouldn't have failed, but if it did it would have been simple to fix and the part wouldn't have cost so much. I won't be buying another Toyota.

We've been driving our van for about 4 years now. We got the 8 passenger model to accommodate our family of 4 and if needed another family of 4. That has worked out superb. The only drawback is the lack of armrests in the middle row had we gone with the 7 passenger model. We put aftermarket leather (well worth It) and all weather mats (we bought mfr, but there are other good mats at a better value). The van has a ton of power and I've never felt like I'm driving a van, I like the ride and the 12 cup/bottle holders around the van. Automatic door on passengers side only is nice but not necessary. Maintenance has been minimal LOF and milestones, no issues. Got new tires at 55K miles.

Decent vehicle as far as Minivans are concerned. But build quality is in question. Minor rattles (Dealer said it was normal). My sliding door motor crapped out after 6 months. Then when it was replaced I can hear it straining to close now. In 2008 I drove my cousin's Odyssey for a month and was very very impressed with it. It looked better inside, seemed to have functionality that suited my needs and definitely handled better. My husband actually enjoyed driving a van (he didn't like driving the Sienna) I'll be switching over to the Odyssey if I ever buy a Van again. I won't be buying any more Toyota due to the accelerator issue fiasco. I'm afraid the same issue will hit Siennas.

The engine seems underpowered or else the transmission is just plain shifting at the wrong times (i shouldn't have to floor it to maintain 70 mph on a minor incline). We bought our Sienna new in 2006 and have driven 48,000 miles. The vehicle has been back to the shop 7 times and repairs are now costing us staggering sums of money. If you like this vehicle, be sure to get the extended warranty. The driver's side automatic sliding door just broke and cost $1800 to fix. The dealer said this is a common problem. The rear hatch won't close on its own and the dealer can't fix it. After 10k miles and 35k miles, we had to have both sliding doors fixed as loose parts were rattling loudly. The run-flat tires are terrible. They wear out at 15k miles and cost $1000 to replace. The vehicle doesn't come with a spare tire.

Drove it off the lot and more than 50k miles later this Sienna hasn't been back. Get oil changed wherever, wore out the stock Dunlops at 30k, and replaced them with Costco Michelins, and had the front brake pads replaced at 45k.I do brake and corner very hard. Snappy engine and tranny seem to egg me on, although numb steering takes the fun out of it. LE seats are so so on long drives, and I wish now I had gone with the upscale stereo. Power door on the right only is fine for me, but a smaller driver would want a power door on the left also. Hatch is very heavy too, and forget about folding and removing seats unless you're prepared for a workout.

My wife had a Grand Caravan that we traded for a Tahoe. My wife has wanted another mini-van ever since. We chose the Toyota based on reputation for reliability, safety, and the fact that it has more leg and headroom for me at 6'4" than Honda or Nissan. The 3.3L Toyota engine blows away the 3.8L Dodge engine, and handling is very car like. So far we have about 1000 miles on it, and fuel economy is a reasonable 23mpg on the highway. I never thought I'd by a Toyota, but I'm happy with it. My next new truck might very well be a Toyota.

Bought new three years ago and here's what I noticed. When I hit approx. 65 mph, cowl rattles. High pitch is noticed at 62 mph too. Dealer tried five times but still could not fix it. Driver side door had to be re-aligned because it was improperly installed. Power sliding door was rubbing against main body of the van--body shop took care of it. When the weather is cold, the engine idles high above 1700 rpm for 5 min. before settling down. Dealer says it's normal but did not notice this on other rental minivan. 19 mpg overall. Bought this over Honda Odyssey because it was quieter but 3.3L is inadequate for this heavy van. Overall, this is a decent van but body integrity is very poor.

I have owned the sienna for 3 years now and absolutely hate it. I have never gotten better than 20 mpg highway. There have been numerous electrical problems. The stereo stops working randomly and kicks out cds. The rear a/c-heat controls do not funtion all the time. Only one of the power outlets works. The front floor vents were not functioning, found out they were blocked. The leather on the seats shows severe rubbing from the seat belt. The paint is poor quality. When I accelerate the van jerks. Dealer said this is normal. The seats are extremely uncomfortable for rides over 30 miles. The tires had to be replaced at 15,000 miles, not run flats. Did I get a lemon or are others just awed by the options?

Totaled my other 2006 Sienna, bought new in 2006. EXCELLENT SAFETY FEATURES! Air bag deployed, seatbelts locked & minus bruises from belts, all are totally fine! Bought current Sienna cause we loved this van sooo much! I do agree with others about paint scratching easily & it sometimes seems to shift awkwardly. It came with reg tires (not run-flats for AWD) & a spare; good financial decision. Don't know why those with XLE models are complaining; I have less features & love it! It saved my life & my twin sons. Love my baby!

Our third Toyota is a people moving, dump hauling, fishing, camping, road tripping machine! Leather seats are very good (I log daily mileage and have driven multiple long road trips with kids). It is easy to use the gearbox to enhance power and control. I wanted AWD and a fold down rear seat. XLE Limited is too much luxury as the most beneficial features are available on lower priced models. The fold down rear seat and especially the AWD are terrific. Don't care for a fixed nav system but back up camera is sometimes useful. Leather seats a must. Gas mileage is 19-20 everywhere. White color stays cleaner looking longer

I've had the Toyota Sienna mini van for over two years now and I finally got around to writing a review. This is a great mini van. I've owned american and other imports but Toyota is the best by far. We drive about 25k a year and have not had any problems. It has been in the snow in NC mountains and I pull my 17ft key west with it w/o any problems. We average about 26 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in town. I forgot to mention that the family loves this thing on long trips. In town it drive well also. If you are looking for a mini van you can't go wrong with Toyota. My next vehicle is going to be another Toyota.

I wasn't looking forward to a minivan, but I really like the Sienna. It's fun to drive and looks good. Well built, very useful whether you're hauling a pack of kids or a load of building supplies. It's comfortable, but being 6'3", the front seats don't go back enough and it feels cramped driving it. Mileage is fine at 20 mpg in mixed driving. We bought it new looking for a reliable car that would last 10 years, and so far it's ok, except we have been in the the shop for a few small issues - the CD changer failed twice, wheel noise when turning sharply, automatic rear door was catching/grinding.

The Sienna was new when we bought it, and it has all the major options, which means we paid top dollar. We love the navigation, entertainment and other conveniences that make traveling with our kids easier. The kids ride in car seats though, which could explain their comfort. We recently took our first long-haul trip and had the aching backs to prove it. Never again! We had intended to keep the Sienna for perhaps a decade, which is why we went for all the options and didn't mind the price so much. After all, Toyotas have a reputation for lasting. We are getting rid of it, however, because it handles terribly in the snow. The Sienna literally gets stuck in two inches of snow. What a nightmare!

We were very excited about the DVD and navigation in our Toyota - however we have been very disappointed with the amount of babysitting Toyota does. There are a lot of little things that make owning a Toyota annoying. - You can't dial a phone # or look up an address in the nav unless you are completely stopped. Also you can't control the DVD for the kids unless you put on the parking brake! The laser cruise control puts about 10 car lengths or more between you and the car in front of you and you can't change it. The placement of the oil filter and where you pour the oil is poor - you have to pour VERY slowly or goes everywhere! Also the back tail gate has had 3 different problems!

I have had some problems with the airbag light on dash staying lit. Its been checked out and reset, but then lights up again for no apparent reason a few weeks later. I love the 8th seat. 2006 Sienna LE - bought new, now has 65,000 mi. Live on country roads and am 8 mi one way to school and 25 mi to a Toyota dealership. Took it to dealership a year ago for the engine lights coming on and a belt squeak. They said I must have has some bad gas and the belt was not squeaking. All's fine right? NOT. A year later (7-20 08) take it back because the AC went out. Just thought it was a belt. The magnetic coil is out and they told me the catalytic converter is out and the oxygen sensor. The driver side slide door will not open at all! Many other things wrong too! I asked the service manager if this is normal to have these things go out with only 65000 mi. He said no. $1500

We purchased this van after renting the sienna many times for road trips. reasons are obvious: reliable, roomy, user friendly and super duper cargo friendly! We have really enjoyed the van and it has made our lives much easier. We do not care for the DVD system. It is controlled from the back only. Our children are small and are in booster seats which means we must stop the car to load/unload movies and start them. BIG PAIN in the neck. Somebody please tell Toyota to make it possible to load from the front seat, possibly by the stereo.

Needless to say we are buying another one with the insurance money.

This is our second Toyota minivan. We traded in our 2004 for this 2006 for the added features including additional safety features. This loaded xle limited 7 passenger 4dr fwd is an improvement in all areas except in road noise. We dealt with a different dealer than the one that sold the new vehicle to us because we felt that he failed to address the problem. Even with the different dealer, and a deal where we paid half the cost of replacing the awful original equipment tires (in hopes of reducing the noise) the expence did not fully remove the noise. To us, the noise sounds like a vent is open, or, air leakage is occuring around the doors. Please offer a reasonable solution to this problem.

This is my second review. Bought it new Nov 2006. Currently have 17000 miles on it. This is my third Toyota. A little disappointed with build quality: had to replace the wiper motor within 2-3 months (making horrible noise), will have to replace the motor near the passenger side blower vent (makes noise at lower speed). Otherwise satisfied with the car. Can get around 23.5 mpg in combined hwy/city, if I drive <= 65 mph. With the fuel cost where they are, I usually try to maximize mpg. I have noticed a deadspace when the transmission shifts from one gear to the other (seems like from second to third), which is kind of weird. Overall though, I am satisfied.

We bought our 2006 Sienna in May 2006 to help accommodate and transport our growing family. It seemed like the logical solution for a growing family. Minivans are comfortable, and relatively stylish, and supposed to have reasonable fuel economy, right? - but more on that later. We did the usual comparison between the Odyssey and the Sienna. We liked both, but felt that the Sienna was more refined and had a few more amenities. If the Odyssey had a telescoping steering wheel avalable in 2006, we would have bought that, but my wife found that the steering wheel was too far away at her seated driving position. Very refined. Comfortable road handling. Quiet.

Never wanted a Mini, but love it.

This is a nice vehicle to drive. Quiet comfortable, and relatively good power for mountain driving. Has one serious flaw and that is the Brake Assist. This is a saftey hazzard waiting for an accident to happen. It engages the transmission and engine on hard braking especially going down hills and then won't release when I remove my foot from the brake. Must either step on the gas or shove the shifter into neutral to disengage the transmission. I've driven for 54 years with out a computer controlling my cars brakes and either Toyota finds a way to turn it on and off manually or it will be in some other manufactures used car lot. Radio is very poor.

After several trips to Las Vegas from LA fully loaded, it didn't even break a sweat going up the Baker grade, even with the AC going. The real test of a nice ride is how you feel after a long drive and I never felt any fatigue at all. It's very roomy inside. Able to throw lots of people and gear inside with room to spare.

Having owned this car for a while now, I have very mixed feelings about it. It's smooth and refined like my Lexus but has very mediocre interior ergonomics that are very un-Lexus-like. It's very easy to love the features; HID lighting, AWD, Nav, laser-cruise control, bluetooth, DVD, comfy leather seats; but somehow, Toyota didn't get some of the basics right. The frequently used climate control buttons are small and mislabeled. The 2nd row seats constantly rattle and squeak. The run-flat tires are truly terrible but at least warranted by Toyota. Fuel economy was terrible at first but is improving with age.

Just bought a donut spare to throw in the back on long trips. The kids love it, the wife loves it, and I am happy to get at least 18 MPG. Better than the 11 MPG I got with an Expedition. Highly recommended. Just keep an eye on the tire pressure with the run flats. No biggie. Everyone should keep track of this stuff anyway. The gauges light up fantastic at night. Very satisfied.

I had to turn in my company vehicle which was a Ford Freestar and couldn't get another one so we needed a van. Once you have one you can't live without it, I found, very much to my surprise. So we traded my wife's Camry Solara for a Toyota Sienna (her idea!). We tried out a Honda EX-L (Very close competitor, better back seat, but bumpier ride.) and the Hyundai Entourage (Watch out Toyota and Honda, these guys mean business, great van at a great price, better ride than the Honda). It rides like a luxury car. The interior is extremely comfortable. Heated seats, MP3 capable stereo, aux jack, power doors, storage, reconfig options, all great. We bought it to last 10 years and I bet it does.

I think I bought the best minivan on the market. I compared it to the Honda odyssey and there is no comparison. I have the fully loaded one and I am impressed with the handling. Neither rain nor ice hinders its performance. The DVD and NAV help too.

We bought it in 06/06 and could not be happier. Everything works well and we are in the middle of a road trip (1100+ mi.). With 7 passengers and a full load of luggage, we are averaging 22.13 mpg. The van performs well under all conditions and has all the features that we needed and even some that we wanted. No mechanical problems at all. It compares well with other vehicles we tested and better than most. We have 5 children and all have found their favorite spot.

My Sienna has less than 4000 miles and my transmission is already leaking. It's been in the shop for about a week and I guess it's taking awhile to dismantle everything and then put it together again. Aside from this defect, the van seems to be pretty good. It's quite roomy to the point that I have difficulty getting out of my tight garage. I really like the turning radius on this van. I've been getting about 15 miles/gallon on city driving with 4-5 passengers.

We bought this a week back. Only have 300 miles in it. It drives well, although the road noise is pronounced (not what I would have expected from Toyota). The instrument panel is well laid out. However, I have not yet mastered all the buttons. Did not buy AWD based on negative run-flat tire reviews. We got 17.5 mpg (60% highway) so far. We have a 3 yr old, so she does not use the wireless headphone, so all of us have to listen to her DVDs (have not yet figured out how to mute the front speakers). We have two camrys (10 & 12 yrs old) and this is our third toyota, based on our experience with toyota reliability. Did take the extended warranty based on the pervasiveness of electrical systems

I had a 98 ford Windstar and man did I have a great surprise! This car is awesome, versatile and capable. The stereo is excellent, ride is like a car and best of all, I paid less for the Sienna than what I paid in 1998! Bought it before the summer vacation, put on a hitch and airbags in the suspension. Towed small trailer for 2000 miles to date and it works great, 6 adults, no problem, lots of gear, no problem. This is the most silent car I've driven so far, beats the euro cars hands down. My only complaint is that I could not get the electric 8 way chair and I am 6'4" so the driving position is OK, not great, but that is the only thing I can complain about!

DO NOT BUY

This is the worst vehicle i have ever owned. My wife really wanted it so we leased one for three years. Thank goodness I did not buy it. I can't wait to turn it in. The Run flat tires left me and my family (young kids) stranded. Had a blowout in the runflat you could stick a baseball through. I don't think that is to safe. The transmission does not shift smoothly and the dealer keeps saying it works properly. The gas mileage in terrible. 17.5 mpg is the average that we get for combined driving. We did get 18.1 on a 1000 mile all interstate drive this summer. Do not buy this junk.

Glad we got it !

Fit and finish are superb. Performance is as expected for a vehicle of this size. I am impressed with initial fuel mileage. You cannot go wrong with a Toyota!!

When my wife and I were looking to replace her Ford station wagon she was determined to buy a small SUV. Being used to the space in the wagon all the mid-sized SUV's we looked at seemed too small to hold the kids/dogs/groceries/SOCCER. We looked at the Sienna. Wow what a differnce. It even blows away the space we had in the wagon, and has so many little extras it took us about a week after we had the van to find them all. The ride is great, quiet and all the safety features are hard to match in a mid-sized SUV. My wife never thought she would own a van (she loves sports cars) so the deal maker was I agreed to add a sun roof.

Overall I have been pretty satisfied with our new Sienna. The ride is fairly smooth and the engine seems more than adequate. If I can trust the onboard computer, the gas mileage has been what I expected. We were actually averaging above the stated MPG on the sticker on a recent trip to the NC Outer Banks. For those who complain that the Sienna leans more in the curves than a similar Honda... well, one shouldn't expect a vehicle of this size to handle like a sedan. After all, it's a van!

First thing I should say, it has an EXCELLENT turning radius. I used to drive my small scion xA but observed no difference in handling Sienna while turning. Next thing I should say,it has an EXCELLENT tight steering control. I love it, really LOVE it. It gives confidence to the drivers while driving a mini-van like this. Quiet engine. Nice roomy interior with sufficient compartments. Good rear view when you look over your shoulder while crossing the lanes. Good value if you want to settle with a single car for a long time. I was (am) worrying about its tire as few people in this forum is complaining. I yet to see for it. I yet to see its fuel efficiency (I believe it may not be worse).

I have the Sienna LE AWD. My mileage is not the best compared to the LE, but I also take my van places most don't attempt. Having AWD I feel much more comfortable with my son's friends and their moms out in the woods, or in the snow, or on sand!! It's smooth, fun and safe to drive. I was disappointed with the fact that there was not any bargaining room with the cost - I was told that only the LE, I could have bargained with. I went from driving small cars to now a vehicle I swore I'd never drive (minivan). I love it, and my son really does. And gosh - he's now extremely safe. Thank you Toyota.

The lack of support in driver's seat combined with pronounced leaning into turns can result in chronic back problems. The pain is not lessened by the lumbar that feels like a football in your back. Fuel mileage extremely poor. I regret buying it.

This is a sleek great looking Van! It's very comfortable to drive, have been on 2 trips FL/NY and was very pleased. The Navigation System is good, not as good as in my Infinity M, but does the job. The rear camera, blue tooth, folding RV Mirrors, storage, cup holders etc. are very well thought out and functional. Was dissapointed with the gas milege (16.5MPG overall), and performance. Also, fold down 2nd row seats,as in the Chrysler Town & Country Van, would be a big plus. I removed them for our trips and that was a chore to say the least. Passenger seat s/b at least 6/way adjustable, for the price. Was not too comforable riding shotgun for a few hrs when wife took over the wheel.

I never thought I would own a mini van. But having a sedan with 2 kids just wasn't working out. The sienna offers so much room for the kids. It drives a lot better than I thought. My wife loves it. I like the fact of how safe I feel with her driving her and the kids around. I test drove a lot of mini vans and this by far was the best. I got the lower end model and it has everything you need and more.

The handling is car-like, and the AWD performance is better than with my Infinity SUV 4WD, all with Toyota dependability! Traded 2004 Sienna XLE AWD in for the 06 as the 04 rattled like crazy. Well the rattling is not quite as bad, but for the most expensive mini van made, it shouldn't. As well, 3 of the seats have come apart, the DVD has never worked, the side door has stuck open costing a $140 cab ride to return to the dealership which Toyota has yet to refund. On top of that the rear side windows and side doors rattle although not as bad as the 04. Would never buy another Toyota again.

Love it!! Only problems I have is where the gas latch is located, I have to open the door to pull it open. Also there is no key hole for the back door, you must have a keyless key chain so using duplicate keys are worthless. I wish the other doors were automatic like on the xle I believe I would get that style next just for that feature alone. When your hands are full, just push the button and it opens up. The rear door is very heavy to close.

No others seem to be in the same class as these 2, so I would not have wasted my time. Plush and quiet ride. I LOVE the new Optronic gauges, ala Lexus! Nice touch!! Vehicle delivers a solid ride. Nice and firm through turns. We went with LE package #4. If you want rear DVD player, don't pay $1300+, when you can go to Best Buy and have nicer one installed for $800. 3rd row seats fold fairly easy, but lots of room with them up for groceries etc. So far so good. Overall, love it! Never say never, mini-van haters!!!

My XLE model is loaded for that trim line and I can't see needing anything else. It has a car-like ride but you can certainly feel the weight. The double auto slide doors and auto rear doors are fantastic if you have kids. The leather is tough and easy to clean. Fold down seats are very handy and easy to use. JBL sound system is easy to use and can be used with a MP3 player. Controls are well labeled and within reach of driver. Dash lighting is "cool" and easy on the eye's. Triple zone heating/AC works very well.

The Toyota Sienna is a wonderful vehicle to drive, and so comfortable. The telescope wheel, the sound system, the drop down table center front, and the ability to fold second row and stow the 3rd row makes it so handy when hauling needs. There are also so many "pockets" for a number of things to stow, like side arm rests that lift and are adjustable, map pockets, drink holders specially formed for soda or water bottles, I could go on and on. What a great vehicle. My husband is handicapped, and he is so comfortable in our new Sienna. Try it, you'll love it!

This is the first new car I have ever purchased, so compared to everything I have ever owned in the past, this is a dream. It has nice styling, LOTS of interior room, second row windows that roll down, LOTS of cupholders, and the "front and center" middle seat in the second row. Handling is superb, but the engine seems underpowered at times. Gas mileage is within the EPA estimates. Driver's seat is comfortable, even without the power controls. It seems that Toyota is very concerned with having the best minivan around, and they have gone out of their way to add little details that will appeal to the type of people to will drive their vehicles.

Bought the van as a replacement to the 04 Nissan Quest. The engine whines if gas pedal pressed even slightly. The engine loses power if the foot is taken off the pedal and takes a few seconds to shift down e.g. while making a corner. Interior material is acceptable but stereo needs work. Handling is adequate and interior is roomy. Fuel economy is 18.9 miles to gallon in the 1500 mixed highway/city miles driven so far. Overall very disappointing because of lack of any sort of excitement while driving it due to passive powertrain and bland exterior. Would not recommend this van to anyone due to above.

Traded in FS Nissan ARMADA for 1st Minivan. I was worried about the HP loss from the SUV, but the ride is so comfortable & the gadgets - you gotta love them. 1st road trip to LV, NV. Husband never wants to drive, calls shotgun for 3rd row. I felt like I was driving my Lexus RX 300. Turn radius is awesome compared to RX 300. Love the power 3rd row seats, nav plus sonar, memory seats. I LOVE BLUETOOTH - I don't have to take my phone out of my purse. I also like being able to turn the movie on on nav screen for my son. I drove the Toyota Sienna everywhere! It's a wonderful minivan for errands, trips, hauling people and passengers. The seats are extremely comfortable. I really like the quad to bench seat style, I think that's pretty cool but you have to unhook the seat and haul it over to the next jack. Honda and Mazda make it easier, you just slide them back and forth. The power stowing 60/40 split bench is awesome and helpful. The power sliding doors open pretty fast. Also the power liftgate is pretty cool and helpful. The van is great for everyday needs. It climbs up hills pretty well. There is a lot of little storage areas but they're pretty small. I also like the built in pull up window shades.

We were reluctant to buy a minivan, but with a third baby on the way, felt we had no choice. We've only had it for a week, but so far I'm not impressed. The driver seat is very uncomfortable. No matter how I adjust it (we have a manual seat), I can't seem to get comfortable. Also, handling is sluggish. Acceleration is unimpressive, and the brake pedal requires far more force to get the car to stop than I'm used to (on our VW Passat all you need to do is rest your foot in the pedal--on the Sienna you have to really ride it). Also, visibility out of the rear window is terrible, with a huge blind spot behind the car, though I suppose that's typical of all SUVs and minivans.

The dash displays are clear and easy to see. I am a firm believer in extended warranties on new vehicles. They have always paid for themselves. However, my big fear is on this Toyota I have wasted my money due to the high quality of the vehicle.

I went to a toyota dealership and purchased my van. First of all let me start by saying that the Sienna and the Odyssey are the best minivans on the market today. They both are the most stylish and have the best quality. I looked at both minivans and what swayed me to choose the Sienna was the price. I just found that I could get the same quality, or better, in the Sienna and not pay as much. I do think that the Odyssey is a better looking minivan but the Sienna isn't far behind. I love the Sienna's interior features. It's very comfortable for everyone (average for those sitting in the third row). Nontheless, if you purchased the Sienna or the Odyssey you didn't go wrong!

I can admit that Sienna is one of the best minivan in the country and had fun driving. When I drove this car at first, I thought I was driving in heaven, but that does not last long. Why? The performance of this car seemed lower than before, but not bad that much. What made me feel upset was the poor quality sound equipped with my LE 8 passenger car. Comparing with my Accord EX, it's hard to say I have no complaints on it. It's unbelievable that Toyota has such a poor quality sound system with 6 CD changers equipment in it.

I love the look and have a lot of pride that we made a great purchase on a van that we know we can rely on. We owned a V8 SUV until now & we already have seen a difference in the gas to fill up & longer lasting.

I spent considerable time comparing the Sienna with the Honda and Chrysler minivans. The Sienna has a better feel in handling and in comfort. There is plenty of power with the 233HP engine. The Toyota cost more than the other minivans but the drive and amenities were worth the extra. I haven't found any flaws in the vehicle yet, but I've only had it for 5 weeks. Draw backs to the Sienna are: low quality Turanza tires, a slightly higher cost in insurance than the other minivans, and gas mileage that does not live up to sticker expectations.

It is bothersome to pay such a steep price for the value you get in return. The days of Toyota are numbered if it does not add value to its products as it will not be able to ride on its name for ever. The quality of interior cloth is similar to what they had put in '97 Camry CE. Shabby fixed antenna on a 28K vehicle! Turn signals are not safety friendly as they are hard to read in snow and rain. Ride is noisy to say the least and Toyota lacks dealer commitment who just want to push it as a cheap commodity

I'm not sure about why other reviewers said this vehicle was uncomfortable. I have the leather seat upgrade and just spent a week's worth of traveling in this vehicle (riding in the 3rd row) and found it to be VERY comfortable! The first time I drove my new van I was amazed at how it felt like I was driving my mom's Lexus. It rode so smooth and felt very solid. Coming from a 98 Honda Civic to this is a HUGE change! The twins fit very comfortably in the van, as well as the two Dobermans, the cat, hubby and lots of luggage. It's also quite sporty so I don't feel like an old soccer mom when I'm driving it!

Drive it right and you'll get 20 mpg!

First, never thought I'd buy a minivan, but very glad I did! I'm getting 22.1 mpg in the city and I say that if you are only getting 14, then blame your foot, not the van! I'd like to know how it will tow, but can't find any info (thinking of buying a pop up). I love my van even though I didn't go for all the extras. For higher mpg, USE CRUISE CONTROL where ever possible, even in city! Coast down big hills! I can't believe there is no power to the cigarette lighters when the key is off!

Better than thought!

Our family grew and we needed all 8 seats. We owned a '98 Sienna and loved it so when Toyota came out with a 8 seater it was a no brainer for us. It is quieter, smoother and has everything a large family needs as well as being economical to drive. Would tell anyone who is considering to buy the Sienna it is fun to drive and doesn't feel like a minivan but like you are driving a sedan. We looked at all the competition and test drove them all and there is no comparision with Toyota quality. Buy and enjoy.

Its a really nice ride, the options they put in is really nice for the price you buy it for. We have looked around and didnt seem to find a better deal than what we found at a toyota dealer in Arizona.

This is a quiet-running vehicle. I can actually hear my kids talking to me from the 3rd row seats. At neighborhood speeds, I barely hear the van running. It is easier to park than the Chrysler Town & Country van I previously drove for 8 years. The cargo area is very practical for hauling groceries, soccer gear, anything. It is recessed from the rest of the floor level, so things don't shift and roll around the van. It is easy to drive. It drivesmore like a car than a minivan. A big plus is that it comes in AWD. Not a 4 wheel drive option that I can shift into if needed. It drives in 4 wheel mode as needed. Excellent control, tight steering. Buy it!

We bought a Sienna Mini Van for my in home daycare business. I really love the space, 6 cd changer, rear air control where the back seat riders can control, controls on the steering wheel, compass, temp reading for the outside, just there is nothing bad about this van. The only things I would just like to see change is two automatic door openings for the CE, and a few of my friends and my husband says when there a passenger and we turn left it feels like there is to much body roll. Other than those two things, I really give this a 5 star rating.

I am a long time owner of Toyota vehicles so I didn’t need to be sold on the quality. Plus, Toyotas hold their value so you don’t lose much buying new. I just wanted to make an educated decision. I researched this van for over a month. I found the “real owner” reviews to be great. This van came highly recommended. Most importantly this van has great safety features for your family. My whole family is safe in this van. I love the way it drives. You feel like you’re gliding around in traffic. I can carry 8 people around with the a/c full blast and I still have excellent power.

I swore a few years ago that I'd never own a minivan. Fortunately, I reconsidered due to the pricing of SUV's and the amount of room a minivan provides. This van is PERFECT for me and my family. Lots of room on the inside (Plenty for my 20 y/o and 6 & 7 y/o). The ride is not like a truck. Very smooth and very quiet. Driving in Belgium we easily hit 90MPH without feeling a thing. Very comfortable! I was a touch disappointed in only having one automatic sliding door, but I can live with that. We added the DVD player which I feel is a must for a Dad's sanity with the kids in the back seat. They come with wireless headsets...it's just like driving by myself.

After having minivans for over 20 years, we finally got one that has the quality and handling charateristics of a luxury sedan but the room, comfort, accessibilty and safety of your family room. It's quietness, smooth ride, effortless handling make it fun to drive. Having a 1 year old makes us realize the importance of the safety factors and appreciate the thought put into the inclusion of car seats and being able to move the 2nd row seats together. The amount of storage is great. My wife and I compete for which of us gets to drive the Toyota and which has to take the other car.

This minivan is not all it is cracked up to be. It handles well, is attractive and may be reliable but the car is not as quiet as the reviewers indicated. The run flat tires on this vehicle wore out after 12,000 miles. Replacement tires were $300.00 each, which toyota did not have in stock. Forced to install regular tires. There is no spare tire for this vehicle and Toyota wants $700.00 to install a donut spare kit behind the third row seat, rendering it unfoldable.Toyota refuses to make good on this problem. The fwd has a spare tire mounted underneath. There is no room for it on the all wheel drive version.

Owned '06 Sienna AWD for a month: so far so good. Read numerous blogs about the run-flat tires: tire pressure guage doesn't work with them, numerous people had flat tires they didn't know of until became dangerous. So, keep checking tires for problems; don't rely on guage. They also wear out early; costly to replace (can use regulars, but no spare storage area). Not too happy about poor mileage, but not too bad for AWD that can seat 7. I just tried removing middle seats to see if it makes a difference, but hard to do. Almost gave up when one happened to pop out; they are extremely heavy, & I don't need them all the time.

I am a recently retired teacher and an avid surfer with no kids so I wanted a vehicle that was not just very roomy and had AWD but also comfortable if not luxurious. Having owned 2 SUV's and liking them I was tempted to buy another but I wanted more cargo space for my gear yet comfort too. The '06 Sienna was my choice and I'm glad I made it. The car is fully equipped with a beautiful leather interior, incredibly comfortable to drive and has great cargo space. I love all the extras in the XLE: AWD, power doors and windows, a great sound system and gorgeous interior appointments. The car handles beautifully has a very smooth, almost luxury feel to it and is just fun to get into and drive.

Good, but not perfect by any means. Having come from a 2002 Honda Odyssey, I immediately noticed several shortcomings in the Sienna. The Honda engine was much more powerful, especially at takeoff. Furthermore, the Honda had power doors on BOTH sides, instead of just the right side. However, my transmission went out on my Honda after 70,000 miles so I'll gladly trade some power and a powered sliding door for better dependability. However, it just seems somewhat less "advanced" than my 2002 Odyssey did. If the Odyssey is the hot cheerleader who may love you one day, only to leave you for someone else the next, the Sienna is the tried and true girl next door who you can count on to be there.

Just traded up from my 2004 limited AWD model to the 2006. Great improvements. I loved the 2004, and the 2006 is that much better. The Bluetooth phone interface is much better than on my wife's Lexus, and the ride is quieter and smoother than 2004. The navigation system is improved functionally and cosmetically -- the graphics are better (especially when showing freeway lanes), and it gives more accurate directions than the 2004. The memory seats and power passenger seat are appreciated. Like the larger DVD screen in rear. With AWD, I did not get the power rear seat, but not a big deal. Seats are so easy to lower anyway. Great car to drive, and my passengers enjoy riding in it.

The handling was so smooth, there was virtually no noise as I speed up to 90mph to check this van out. The stereo sound is great. I had owned a van and SUV before but nothing compare to this van, I love the interior it is nicer than 2005 model. If you want Lexus-like luxury in your family hauler, the Sienna has your number. We were looking to replace the 1996 MT Car of the Year which was the Dodge Grand Caravan. After having that vehicle, we didn't think we could do without a van. Our '2006 Sienna LE AWD does everything our old van did, plus it's got AWD traction, and better ground clearance (6.9"). Exterior dimensions are near identical to our old van. Power is similar, but brakes are far superior. Seating versatility is very good, but both vans have their pluses in this regard. The Sienna seemed quieter and a better ride than the Odyssey. Storage and versatility are strong points for this vehicle. Storage is everywhere....even the arm rests! My only concern so far is the run flat tires with no spare.

Coming from a Dodge Grand Caravan the total package is so far ahead that it is amazing. The acceleration, handling, fuel economy and comfort put it ahead of it competitiors. The only thing lacking is some sort of second row in floor storage (handy for storing the kids stuff). With less than 1,000 miles on it we are getting 20-22 mpg in town (in cold Wisconsin Weather) and on our first roadtrip we got 25-26mpg while doing 75-80mph (vast improvements over our dodge). The only complaint is a rattle of some sort just started right above the driver side sliding door.

I purchased this vehicle because I had a 99 Sienna and was quite pleased with it although it had over 100,000 miles and felt like a new one. However, I have been disappointed in this purchase and wish I had my old Sienna back and repaired what was wrong. The ride on the new '06 is very rough and when I asked about it they said it was the way it is made. Also, the gas mileage is much lower than I expected. So far only getting 16 mile per gallon in city. So with the rough ride and the low gas mileage it has been a disappointing experience considering the price. I really expected a much nicer ride and nicer vehicle all around and feel like it is not.

Have not taken it for a long trip-I don’t see being able to sit in the passenger seat for > 1 hr. Back seats=great. Overall=happy but for price- should be thrilled.

Even allowing for the "new car euphoria" the Sienna just performs well in almost all respects. My wife is very impressed, and to her a car is usually just a car. Great ride, lots of nice features, and the gas mileage is acceptable for a vehicle this size and weight.

May be my favorite vehicle yet!

I've only had my 2006 Sienna for three days but already LOVE IT! I traded in a 2002 Acura MDX that I loved so was worried going to a "van" again. (Owned a Chrysler Sport Mini-Van back in 1996) We own a Lexus GX (our third Lexus SUV) and our new Sienna is SO much like our Lexus in it's quality, features and feel. We have five kids with LOTS of stuff so having all the extra room throughout this van is a dream. The sound system (JBL) is honestly the best of any car we've owned! (Lexus, Saab, Audi, Infiniti, Jeep, Chrysler) And although the MDX Navigation System was wonderful, the Navigation system in the Sienna is fast becoming my favorite as well.

Fun New Ride!

I've upgraded from a 2001 Sienna XLE and boy are the improvements great! Quiet ride with better storage areas than my old version. The Sienna is now boxier which gives a much larger interior space. My kids love the power tilt chairs in the 3rd row. Can't get them to sit in the middle row very often. Liked the AWD, but didn't get it due to the lack of a spare and the run- flat tires are EXPENSIVE to replace and apparently wear out fairly fast.

Just switched from a Dodge Grand Caravan and am very pleased with the performance and handeling of the Sienna. The interior is very comfortable and roomy.

Our Sienna Limited Fwd is still in break-in, so mileage can't be fully rated (we've averaged about 14 MPG overall, but have less than 200 miles on the vehicle, almost none on open highway). The Bluetooth integration and backup camera are must-have features, IMHO (for safety alone). The nits are minor.

This car is king of mini-vans. Unbeatable if you have kids. My wife and kids survived a front end collision with our 2004 Sienna and we had to have the same car. Very Safe and family friendly

Excellent ride when fully loaded with 7 adults. Instruments easy to read. Great headlights. Well designed interior with lots of storage. Drove the Honda but much quieter ride in the Sienna.

For a company trying to take over the big three, I am quite disappointed. The dealer experience was lousy first and foremost. I can't get more than 14 mpg avg. The seats are fine for a 15 minute test drive but really wear down on longer trips. My sedan from 1997 is much more comfortable. The trim under the driver window is starting to peel already. I wonder when the rest of the plastic will fall apart. The wood highlights are unattractive. Interior noise is greater than I remember from the test drive. The back seats are quite stiff to fold down. The package system that Toyota uses is strange and annoying. There is already a rattle in the right rear door.

This is a great minivan. It's my first minivan switching from sedan. It's a very good size vehicle. I had compared this with Honda Odyssey, and went with this because I liked the interior luxury feel and try out Toyota quality (as heard many good things about it). So far the car is very comforting and quiet when driving around town. It has a lot of gadgets.

Love this Toyota

I've had this Sienna for about 3 weeks and have put 2500 miles on it. I took my first trip in it and loved every minute of it. I felt very safe on the highway driving 80 MPH and more at times. The handle was very smooth and precise. There was virtually no noise which is very important on a long trip. The seats are very comfortable and relaxing. I've owned other vans and SUVs and none compared to the Sienna. For once I have purchased a vehicle that I'm happy with. Drive it and you'll fall in love with it. I had many comments about it's good look and comfort.

The ride is quiet. The handling is OK. The acceleration is among the best in its class, if not the best. Beats any Honda in the 0-60, even with 25hp less. Downside are the braking system (i have change twice the front brakes in about 20000 miles (about 30000Km here in Canada)), and the Dunlop tires are cheap: be prepare to change them very soon, if you dont want to use your spare tire (happened twice) ! The rest is very solid. I highly recommend this van.
