I purchased a 2006 Corolla new in 2006. Within the first year I had to replace the starter. Then the following year I had to replace the alternator and battery. In my 5th year of ownership at around 70,000 miles the ECU (computer) failed and I had to bring it in for the recall on it. About 8 months later the car started shifting terribly and sometimes wouldn't make it to second gear. The transmission ended up being bad. I ended up selling the car and getting a Civic which was a much better car. The ONLY thing the Corolla had an advantage with was fuel economy. Everything else was torture.

I bought my 2006 Corolla CE new, and after 10 years of ownership I still love it. The paint has faded somewhat, it desperately needs a wax job. I still get average 38 mpg, I drive mostly 13-40 miles when I go out. I only have 72,xxx miles on it. I usually drive on trips about 300 miles one way.I do not like that it gets buffeted by winds on the highway. It's unnerving, but since I am aware of it I compensate. I have never had any mechanical problems with it. I did snap a corner of one of the little cargo doors on the dash: my fault as I always put my (old, heavy) cell phone on the door of it. But.... I am currently looking at the 2015 Camry Hybrid, new at a dealership. But, I keep wondering if I should hold onto this reliable, steady workhorse of mine. I regularly drive an 81 mile trip to the coast, and I love how my Corolla can pass on a 2-lane with such ease: it has great acceleration. The trunk is huge! I wish I had opted for cruise control, but this car is easy to hold steady on long trips. The thing that have me considering a new car is the technology available now: Bluetooth (dump my Jabra unit); Navagation package (dump my TomTom); back-up camera (save my neck); amd of course cruise control. I have also read that the Camry is very quiet inside..... 72,000+ miles of road trips has given me a lot of noisy ride-time! I will be test-driving a few cars today, and then I will think on it, and decide. FWIW, I kept my 1985 Toyota truck for almost 20 years.....

With minimal care these Corolla's easily reach 200,000 plus miles My third and forth Corolla's are in the driveway a 2004 and a 2015 both 5 speeds CE models. The 2004 has 179,000 miles on it now and the 2015 has less then 10,000. Maintenance has been done faithfully by me according to Toyota's schedule. The only additional money spent on repairs has been as follows: 1 AC clutch relay, 1 set of rear axle bearings, I have put a new water pump and alternator brushes in at 160,000 didn't fail I just do my own preventive maintenance. Total extra cost was less then $100 dollars. The plastic like others say are failing on unimportant things. However the economy , reliability, and performance are the same as the day it was new. The front end is still tight, the clutch grabs like the day it was new and it starts first time every time six or more times a day seven days a week since November 2003. Thank you Toyota. To be fair the rear axle bearing failed because I used the car as a pickup truck and hauled 1000 lbs of tile from store to home. I fix my own stuff so it was just was a lesson learned.

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla model S that I bought brand new. This is, without a doubt, the best and most reliable vehicle I've ever purchased. I've paid two or three times as much for vehicles that don't last anywhere near as long, and cost way more to maintain.

Drive it first. The noise level is pretty high. That said, things that matter more to me are this car's strong suits. The gas mileage is phenomenal. It is STILL getting 32 or so mpg, and we drive back roads more than highways. It's got a lot of miles, but just goes and goes and goes. We do maintain the oil changes religiously. We were told not to bother tuning it up as long as the mileage is so good, so we'll do one when/if that starts to fall. We did replace the belt (there's only one for everything). It didn't cost that much. We've kept good tires on it. If you care for it, it'll care for you.

I bought my Corolla CE new in 07/2006. 134,000+ miles on it and engine and AT still great! Other than regular maintenance, I've only had to replace a wheel bearing, brake caliper, shoes and pads, and front rotors. Of course, here in Maine we have lots of frost heaves and potholes to break for so I guess that explains it. My baby goes great in snow with all season radials and I've never gotten stuck anywhere except in my yard when we had 6 inches of crust. Love the roomy trunk! Recently, the clock works only intermittently and is driving me nuts, but I guess I can deal with that. I was nearly T-boned by a Jeep one day but floored it and got almost out of his way. He hit me on the back of the rear passenger side fender/bumper. I was surprised to see that the only damage to my car was a small piece broken out of the bumper. Gas mileage is great! Tires seem to wear fast even with regular rotation, but that may just be the tires. I honestly expect I'll get well over 300,000 miles out of this car, which I purchased for Toyota's reliability and longevity. I do wish the paint was better though - it chips very easily. All in all, it's a great car and I would recommend this car to anyone!

Bought this car new after 2004 Toyota Corolla S had manual transmission failure. This car then had manual transmission failure under warranty. Then the ECM was recalled, failed and was replaced. Then the transmission failed again and out $3500.Then the ECM failed after one year so no warranty and out $700. Will never buy another Toyota again.

Bought this car, a 2006 in 2011 with 38,470 miles. The dealer had put some junk tires on it, so I immediately replaced them with Goodyear Eagles. I have had no problems with car, None. Zip. Nada. I use Mobil1 and Mobil1 filter and go 75000 miles between changes, and bought a battery also, even though it was not giving me trouble it was original, 5 years old so I pre-emptive avoided any problems. Starts first time, every time, on just a couple turns of cranking, even in 0°F. I overpaid a bit, but oh well, still no regrets. Absolutely no peers ij reliability, and I disagree about 'not fun to drive'. One time on a long trip I got 41mpg. Perfect blend of power and economy.

Before I went car shopping, I did extensive research on several Makes and Models. It's a lot of money to spend impulsively after all. I decided on Toyota after test driving a Ford Fiesta, Honda Accord, even a MINI Cooper. I found a 2006 Corolla with only 47,500 miles and bought it, based on reputation of reliability/dependability and Toyota earned it. It was a bit pricey, but holds value very well. Decent acceleration for a 1.8Liter, and economy is superb, especially with my driving habits. I enjoy seeing how much I can squeeze out of a tank, and have gotten as much a 44mpg. yes, 44..but I did have a strong tail-wind and no grade for nearly 100 miles on a lonely S. Calif desert road.

I got my license in 2003 and got a 1991 Toyota Corolla from my grandpa. I liked the car so much that I bought my own 2006 Corolla LE with the intent to keep it for as long as I could. I was not disappointed. I have had the car for 7 years now and cannot complain. The only things I had to change on this car was wear and tear. I also had the ECU replaced under warranty as well. I think this is a great car that is cheap to maintain and drive. I have put 140,000 miles on it so far and am planning on going 300,000+ without any issues.

I'm a musician for Jesus and travel all over to preach and play. Lots of room in the back, seat goes down, can carry all my equip. Rides nice, mileage is great (beats the heck out of my Dodge Caravan) I get alot of compliments on the color..."sea foam mist." Audio is good. Im really glad I got blessed with this. I bought it at 44,000 miles and at 49,000 miles the serpentine belt started squealing from having cracks in it. They normally need to be replaced at 50,000 miles and up so that's cool. Gault Toyota replaced it reasonably and I got a shuttle ride home and back the next day. I'd love to get a prius next or a toyota convertible. Peace, in Christ...Dougie Douglas

At age 58 and having owned maybe 20 cars, this is my first Toyota and I do not regret it. I bought it on it's reputation for reliability and life-span, and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and performance. The 1.8L gives decent acceleration, I had a concern that because of my driving habits, which consist of a 1.5 mile trip to the store, shut off, re-start and come home totals 3 miles of driving about 4 times a week that eventually the battery would not re-charge from not enough driving. But after 5 months: no problem. I have of course taken longer trips, but what I described sometimes goes on for a month. Complaint: no trunk-open on remote entry.

I started driving my 06 Corolla about 1.5 yrs ago. It had 135K on it when I started (belongs to a company I work for) and now has over 200K. I drive everywhere from the highway at around 80 mph to long, windy, bumpy country driveways where I have to carefully pick a route around boulders, dips, bumps and puddles to avoid high centering. I drive the car like a New York city cab in town (time is a crucial part of job) and I often drive 50-60 mph on gravel roads. Car has held up extremely well! When I get home from a 400 mile during spring break up I am surprised the car held together. When i leave the next morning the car is unphased by the day before. Very robust car!

I bought it new in 2006. I have put 120K mostly highway miles on it in the last 6 years. The original Bridgestone tires were good until 75K w/regular rotations. The brakes were replaced at 118K, not b/c they were squeaking, but b/c the fronts needed it soon, hubby did all 4 at one time. Check engine light came on at 78K, ECM in transmission went bad and was covered in a recall. Check engine light came on at 119K, ECM software glitch, no fix yet, but the light is out, car is driving fine, and the fix will be free when it is ready for download at my dealership. I have been very satisfied with this car. Least favorite aspect of Toyota build is the paint...it chips easily.

Good mileage, some noise, average maintenance costs; you've heard it before but rarely are there reviews on how it stands up to impacts. Bought it new. Only issue was the check engine light that was part of recall. Dealer fixed it for free, it was good for a week then light came back on. I had about 96k when I was rear ended by 02 Toyota Camry on freeway. I was stopped when he hit me at approx 40mph. Vehicle buckled out instead of in. Exterior damage seemed minimal, but once we looked at the frame from below, it was totally bent. I was told metal went up through floor of rear seats. Good thing I only had groceries in back seat instead of my kids. Fluke? Who knows. Had to post

I love this car! It's fun to drive and it's reliable. I had bought an '02 as my first vehicle brand new, and it did not disappoint on gas mileage and reliability, although I had chosen the CE version cause being so young that's all I could qualify for. The '06 is responsive, corners well, and the transmission is smooth enough for its class. The black paint job is beautiful and waxes well. I love the spoiler, and the trunk space is roomy enough for a lot of stuff if you pack it right.

Got the base model, no electric anything. Only added option was cruise control. After 115K miles, the only thing that has gone wrong is the CC switch for 80$. Tires don't last as long as I would like. I do all of the required maintenance and it keeps going and going. I'm getting better mileage than EPA extimates, 37-38 in city driving.

I bought it used a few years ago with 50,000 or so miles on it. I now have around 105,000 miles. So far it has been pretty reliable. We have not had any major problems so far. The engine still runs well, the transmission shifts smoothly in all temps and weather conditions. The audio system isn't great, but acceptable. The interior has a decent amount of space for a small car, and the trunk is pretty big. Road noise is average, but I always have music playing. Heat and A/C still work great. It has a very awkward steering wheel position and the handling is not very good. The gas is very touchy.

Okay, so before I fell out of love with this car, I loved it. No problems came along. Nothing what so ever. Now its a different story. Since the beginning of last year, I've numerous problems out "Toyota's best selling car". First was my drive belt or serpentine belt, whatever that is. Then my transmission started acting weird, so I had the fluids changed and still the same problem. Now its the brakes. My rotors are in bad condition with extremely heavy pulsation and shaking when braking. I've had service done about three times for the same problem and it still continues. Now there's a recall out. What else could go wrong!? Sometimes I wish that I'd never purchased this car.

First, last and only.

What can I say, you get what you pay for. While the car is very dependable and gets good mileage why do the windshield washers freeze, even with good quality washer fluid? Why do the rain gutters insist on failing to do there job? Why does it take so long to heat the cabin in winter? Why Toyota, why, this is supposed to be the magic carpet ride of automobiles, the unfailing Toyota Motor Co. The title of my review says it all.

Had since '06 and been reliable except for the following. Had to have all brakes put on at 65k and I'm easy with the brake pedal so not sure why I'd need new brakes already but ole well. Horn stopped working after 45k miles. Needing tires now but thats a wear and tear item. They held up quite well knowing I have them still on and the car has 71k on it. Lights keep going out here and there. License plate light and one of the front hi beams keeps going out for some reason. The flashers don't work and haven't since 48k miles. Not sure why? The dealer said it a electrical problem and my warranty wouldn't cover it. Other than that no major issues. Engine fine for now. Thank god!

Got the used car in 2008. High resale value bites both ways, doesn't lose much value when selling, but ain't getting as much as competitor cars when buying. Decent build quality, but some haphazard metalwork and greasing present, probably clogged door's drain hole. Car is relative quiet and comfortable, but steering feels artificial, especially when hard turning corners; feels like wheel orientation and steering don't match up. Rattling present at 30K, unacceptable for Toyota. Lot of blind sides when backing up; lot of newer cars seem to have similar problems (trunk too high, pillar too thick, window too small). Bumpers can't take a hit. Reliable but disappointing purchase.

I love this car, but I wish ...

I love this car. It's reliable, it's sort of fun to drive, and it gets great gas mileage. I wish I hadn't gotten the CE base model though, because it lacks power windows, doors, and cruise control. I had to have the cruise control installed aftermarket. It started making this weird sound every time I started it up, that would go away after a while. Ran great, no problems. Then my girlfriend bought a Lexus (Toyota motor) and it made the same sound, so I stopped worrying about it. If you want a great little commuter car that is super reliable, then this is your car.

Loved my '87 Corolla...had it 11 years (bought it used). 30 mpg when I retired it. 2000: great: 38 mpg when I traded it for this piece of crap: tranny replaced at 96K, just told I need a new radiator. Brake pedal winks when the AC is on (dealer told me it was normal). I only get 32 mpg at best (stick shift!, not my driving. I got 41 mpg on a rented Cobalt). Radio jumps stations (already replaced when the CD player got jammed). Car is too big: too many blind spots compared to older models. Back head rests block rear view (as did the 2000), removed and stored for trade-in. Even the paint on the body below the door isn't smooth. Seats don't go down fully (overstuffed).

I have purchased this car in 06/2006 and had driven less than 9K miles per year. The car suddenly stopped on the highway with 18 K miles on it, the issue has been traced to a faulty ECU (Computer) and did some research on the internet and it seems to be a common problem for this model. I have called Toyota customer service and they have taken care of the towing costs to my home town and replaced the part as it was still under warranty.

I really enjoy the nice comfortable ride, and low engine noise. The radio isn't all that bad either for this model. The only thing I would change is the annoying seat belt warning, and add the power package to all the cars no matter what model. I'll definitely be taking it in to get power door locks put in this week. Other than that, it's a great little car so far, with no other complaints.

Bought this car used last year as my first car and love every minute driving it. It's a fun little car to drive with a peppy gas pedal. Very comfortable, spacious, gas mileage is not as great(30mpg). Had many near accidents and the brakes saved my life. I drive very rough with this car but hasn't fallen apart yet. I get a lot of compliments on the color. (It's light green)Plan to have it for the next 6-7 years. Would definitely recommend this to ALL college students or anyone's choice for their first car.

I traded a 02 Chevy pickup for this 06 Corolla. We leased it for 0% and then bought it after 36 months for $8900.00. We have 58000 miles on it and it has never failed even at 30 below zero. Some things I thought they (Toyota) would change with the 2010, more interior lights, lighted ignition, better radio. We drive 30 plus miles ever day 7 days a week. We love 30 plus miles per gallon, good ride, nice room inside, good heater. We have had not one thing go wrong, just put gas and oil in it. Toyota Quality!!

I bought the toyota corolla in June 2006 and have 21 K miles on this car. The Car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road trip and had to have the car towed to the nearest toyota leadership as it was under warranty. The ECU (computer) broke and the car would not start and there was a backlog delay of several weeks to get the car repaired. I have contacted Toyota Customer Service for assistance and they covered for cost for towing the car to my home city toyota dealer and co-ordinated with the dealership to have my car fixed.

I really like this car and could brag about it for days when it comes to styling, reliability and gas mileage. Here is a list of things I hate about it. The driver's seat does not go back enough. No standard cruise and the standard wipers lack intermittent feature other cars have. The biggest thing is that stupid buzzer for no seat belt. How many times do you get rolling before getting the belt on or want to make a quick stop so you take the belt off before stopping. That stupid buzzer noise drives me nuts. I have driven many cars over the years both newer and older and none of them irritate me like this one.

I love my 2006 Toyota Corolla LE. It has never given me any problems. Only routine maintenance. I love the great fuel economy especially because of high fuel costs. It also handles much better than even the Mustang. My Corolla handles better at 100mph that the Mustang at 75. I love my car and was glad I invested in it

The S model is a fun car to drive with great mileage on long trips (up to 41). It gets better mileage than my old 96 with more power. The 5 speed transmission is not the smoothest shifter I've owned but it makes the car seem more powerful. The exterior looks sporty with the body kit, spoiler, and fog lights. The interior has nice build quality and the trunk size is more than proficient. No mechanical problems at all. I've never been to the shop since I change my own oil. I would definitely recommend.

I've had my Corolla for almost 2 years now, and I must say, I enjoy driving this car. Power isn't the best, but its enough to do what you have to do. Ride quality is good. Highway driving is what I think the Corolla is bred for. Its quiet and gets you from point a to b without draining your pockets. I would suggest, if equipped, use the cruise control. It helps the car perform and keeps the speed maintained without hesitation. To get the best out of this, use 93 oct. fuel. Although it costs more, it's really worth it.

I bought a lightly used, low mileage Corolla S rental return in Feb, 2006. Mechanically, the car has been fine, mileage good, but the paint quality is poor and the road noise is terrible. Toyota quality is going downhill. I have owned several Toyotas, but this is the the last one I will ever buy, unless Toyota significantly improves quality.

Fought with Toyota for 6 months and received no help until MANUAL transmission stalled on the highway!! UNACCEPTABLE. Laundry list of repairs every time we go in. If you ever have problems with this car and expect good service FORGET IT!! I've had my 06 corolla s for about one year now and I'm very pleased with it. Before I purchased my car, I was driving a 03 corolla ce. At that time it had 52,000 miles, currently 120,000. I didn't like the BASIC trim with no pwr windows, door locks, cruise, abs, etc. The 03 is in great condition, despite some maintenance that's needed. The 06 s is way better. I love the exterior design with the full body pkg. Rated at 126 hp is not much, but really doesn't feel like 126. I've taken the liberty and placed a v6 badge on the vehicle, of course I raised a few eyebrow's, but hey, why not. Fill the tank with 93oct, and you notice a big difference. Overall I'm satisfied with it. It's a great car.

I test drove the Civic and the Corolla, and the Corolla was faster, tighter and got better mileage. I still wanted something quicker and tried the XRS. It was WELL worth the extra money. I LOVE driving this car! That said, the power curve is not at all smooth and I've adjusted how I drive to compensate. You almost have to plan ahead. I put a graphite gear shifter knob on it which really improved my ability to "feel" the gears and shift with accuracy. The car pushes a little around corners, but I guess that's safer than the alternative. I didn't know it only took premium until after two tanks of regular. I don't like paying more for gas, but it's still worth it.

Fuel economy is great. took it on a long trip (4500 miles in 21 days) from PA to Rocky mountain national park and up to Yellowstone and back again. Car preformed very well on the hills and 70 mph on the interstates with AC on. So far, not one glitch. Shooting for 150000 on this baby!!

It is not "fun" to drive, however, it does its job-reliable, good mpg. I am now debating to keep this a long time, or trade it in for something like a Lancer soon.

I'll keep buying them.

My last Corolla was a 1991 which I kept for 12 years. I tried a RAV4 but it had too many minor problems, so I traded it in for this car, used at 9000 miles. I find it has less power than my 1991 had (even at it's advanced age) but that might be due this one being automatic. It is extremely comfortable to drive and really looks sporty. I've found my forever car... my next will be a Corolla - in another 10 years!

We've had this car close to 30 months now and it has been great. The smaller engine is offset by the 5-spd manual and decent handling for the price. Not a single problem yet. But to top it off the mileage is great! We just completed a round trip between San Jose, CA to Vancouver, WA and put over 1500 miles on the car. I tracked the mileage very close and we got 40.2 mpg for the whole trip! Now I need to say we don't speed but drive the posted speed limit (55, 65, 70). We used A/C for a 85% and this total included climbing hill, mountains and around town drives. So obey the posted limits, set the cruise control and enjoy the money you save!

The fact that (on purpose) over twice I have almost run out of gas to check mileage should help me brag on the 40 mpg of this little one. What a plus! I do not feel comfortable driving in windy times, as the car feels very shaky on the road when the wind or an 18 wheeler whizzes by. I don't feel safe in it in the way of being protected in case of an accident -- but, I do feel it is extremely dependable, economic, and the body style makes it undesirable, so far, for those who would want to take other cars :) - it is difficult to see to the right when making a turn - due to the seat/door panel, a safety concern.

After reading so many other reviews, I'm convinced I got a Corolla reject! Door hinges started to come apart after a few months. I paid $700 extra for that paint protection, undercoating crap (I know, I know, my own fault). The paint scratches off when my nails hit it lightly on the trunk. I have lots of paint chips where rust is coming through! Not in places where stones could even hit it! Now, my alloy wheels are rusting from the inside and look all bubbly. There is an annoying *ping* when pulling out of a parking space that makes everyone in the parking lot turn and look. I'm so disappointed in the quality of this car. I'm dumping it now that I'm out of warranty!

What a nice car! Honestly, I have 76000 miles on it from 2 years of buying it. I bought this car for commuting reasons so size and looks is not a prob. The MPG is really awesome for the car. For the money, the Corolla is much better than the Yaris. Has more hp, about the same gas mileage, and nice looks. Compared to the 09 model, the Yaris is a much better choice for the $$. But for the 06 and all other years with this look, the Corolla is it! The chairs are a little stiff compared to our 08 Toyota Prius hybrid's chairs. There is 1 little thing that I am disappointed about the Corolla, the tank size! It has a 13 gal tank and takes $58 to fill from empty light (not that good for a small car!).

I purchased this vehicle about 1 1/2 year ago for my daughter. After considering several models and wanting a reliable car I went with this model because of its sporty looks and Toyota's reputation. However I am really disappointed with it since it just broke dowm in the middle of the Lincoln tunnel of all places. This vehicle only has 24,000 miles on it. I took it in to Toyota and the service manager says they have been having this problem with some of the 06 model. It has to do with the computer engine. Finally a word of advise if you are not under warranty beware you will be out around $900 if this happens to you. I am very disappointed and seriously considering a trade in.

The Corolla is like a Timex watch, very reliable. I never worry about it breaking down. I bought this car new and I have only had to do scheduled maintenance. Great gas mileage, 30+. Now for the bad news, very uncomfortable seats, steering wheel does not telescopic, air conditioning hardly blows out at all when in head/foot postion. Defroster takes forever to unfog windshield. I drive an hour each way to work, and my back kills me. The arm rest might as well not exist, it is of no use except for storage. I am presently looking for a "comfortable" car. Why does inexpensive have to hurt so much? Windshield cracks if anything hits it however small.

I've owned the car for a year and have really enjoyed driving it. On a long highway trip, I did reach 40 mpg. Around town I usually average 30-32 with a lot of starts and stops. I love the look of it - the paint color really shines. Performance is great. Haven't had to do any maintenance other than oil changes, no repairs either. Trunk size is very large. Seating very comfortable. Love the sun roof!

The perfect blend of performance and fuel economy. Enough power to handle on-ramps on highways, while not breaking your budget. I bought it 6-8 months ago, and have not had any problems since. It is an economy car, so do not expect it to have perfect interior quality or to keep up with sports cars.

Less than a year and 9000 km after I purchased my 2006 Corolla, my steering pump is broken and it is undriveable. The dealership says the part won't arrive for another month. It's Toyota's policy not to provide a rental car or any transportation for that matter until after 10 days that the part is on backorder. I am stuck without a car for 10 days. There was also another 06 Corolla in for the same problem. I was happy with my 1994 Corolla and not happy with my 2006. Toyota made no effort to salvage our relationship. Saturn and GM both say they provide transportation the same day if they expect a part not to arrive for a month.

Over the past 25 years I have owned seven different Totota Corollas. I keep them for several years and they have been excellent vehicles. I sell them outright and then buy another one new. I have never been let down and have never made any expensive repairs. One of them I put 65000 miles on and never did anything but change the oil and filter and put gas in the tank and sometimes put air in the tires. The quality of these vehicles speaks for themself. While it is sad that the Japanese build these quality vehicles keeping me from buying American made products, I cannot and will not buy American vehicles. My friends buy American vehicles and have nothing but problems. Go Toyota.

I was looking into buying a Camry but found the Corolla loaded for much less! I knew I was going to buy a Toyota and would be happy with it, because I have always had Toyotas and have gotten about 300,000 miles out of each of them! So this Corolla will last me a while I am sure of it! With my automatic I get about 33mpg in mixed driving which is pretty good! I am a big person and I fit well in this car, better than I did in my old 4Runner! They designed this car with a high roofline and command seating, visiblity is very good! I wouldn't trade my Corolla for the world!

I have owned Toyota Corollas since 1972 & don't plan to ever own any other brand. The previous autos I owned (all purchased new, by the way) were a nightmare - frequent repairs, breaking down in the middle of the road, etc. YUCK! My Corollas have been completely dependable and trouble free for about 200,000 miles. The body construction seems to be strong: I have been hit HARD by other drivers and walked away unhurt.

I decided to go with the corolla because of the fuel efficiency. I wasn't going to wait for the prius (at the time there was a waiting list). As you can tell I drive a lot and that was my main motivation. The driving experience and everything else that comes with the car is extra. I know I've been spoiled by toyota because I get in other comparable makes and models that my friends have and the drive is not even close to how smooth and good the drive is in my corolla. I love it!

I got my car in Feb. 2006, so far I have had no troubles with it. The price was good and it had all the basic features that I wanted (I have the LE). The driver seat was a little hard to get used to at first and the back seat head rests are a little high for me to see over sometimes. I like how the radio/CD player are up high on the dash, I don't have to look down while driving to change stations. I love how the lights are automatic. One feature I like, but don't like, when you unlock the car and don't open the doors it will lock up automatically after a few min. Like, in case I can't remember if I locked it, dislike, keys could still be inside.

Prior to purchasing a 2006 Corolla, I had a 1991 model for 15 years. I loved it so I wanted another. I have only had the 2006 for a few months, but I wanted to give a review after my first trip to the service department at 6,000+ miles. The trim on the roof was coming loose at one end. The initial prognosis by the service department technician was to replace as this occurs occasionally. They instead glue it down (something I could have done). The second issue, which is more unacceptable, is a spot protruding under the carpet on the hump in the back seat area. I noticed the carpet wearing (at 6,000+ miles) and they said the protrusion is part of the carpeting and all corollas have it.

I have owned my Corolla for two months. It is an excellent vehicle for driving around town. I haven't taken it on a long trip yet, but 30 miles on the highway felt fine. Seating and steering wheel positioning is a bit tricky, but I found a position I'm happy with. I definitely like the feel of driving it, it handles nicely, and feels secure. The seats on the LE have a nice soft feel. The heating and A/C work great. The gas mileage so far has been similar to rated mileage - about 30 in overall driving (drive up hills a lot). I got the LE for invoice which I was happy about. A couple of small things - car dings pretty easily, and a very annoying seat belt ding. Otherwise very happy.

Its resale is good, doesnt lose much value, and you rarely hear of issues with any Toyota... I recently drove my car on a 3300km trip and after the trip I didnt find myself tired of drivig it. Is a fun car with alot of jump for its size.

Hi - I just bought a Corolla (2006) today. However, it was a prudent decision to make this purchase after much research. The Corolla looked more real and better built. It gave the appearance of being a solidly built car. Appearance was best. Then the test drive. Smooth, quiet, peppy, comfortable with a good industry warrenty and excellent gas economy. We both feel very good about our purchase decision. Rides nice and 30/38 MPG -- very nice car!

Wish that my Corolla would get better gas mileage. I have had it for a month and now get 24 miles to the gallon. Hopefully, after it is broken in, it will do better. The reason I purchased it was to save on gas and good resale and durability. I plan to keep it a long time. Should have gotten automatic door locks because it is impossible to get into the back seat with a key. It does get blown around on the highway a bit. Does great around town! I really do like my new car.

The driver’s seat is extremely uncomfortable and cannot be adjusted for comfort. It has a lump in it that shoves up on the back of the hips, forcing the driver to lean forward and shoving up on the spine. The seat sits far too high – what are they doing, trying to imitate a SUV? The pump on the side of the seat is a joke, more of a gimmick toy than an adjusting tool. The adjustable steering wheel is dangerous as you must remember to shove the locking lever back. I have never had a car that rides so extremely poorly and I have driven 50 years. On smooth pavement it is fine, but you feel every bump in the road otherwise. It rides more like my Wrangler than the car I wanted.

I would highly recommend this car to anyone who is not over 6' or 225 pounds. It is a compact car, and I believe large people would find it too small. The Corolla S is a wonderful car! I've owned it for three months and I have driven it for roughly 6,000 miles. It is, by far, the best built vehicle I have ever owned. Mind you, my wife and I also own a new '06 Acura MDX and we're always debating as to who will be driving the Corolla. Yes, the Corolla is that enjoyable! From the minute you enter the car you realize that this is a well engineered automobile made with quality materials. Before purchasing the Corolla, my wife and I also test drove an '06 Honda Civic LX and an '06 Volkswagen Jetta and after much deliberation, we concluded that - for the price - the Corolla was simply unbeatable. I highly recommend this car!

The seat is hard and made in 2 lumps. The one at the back is where upper truck puts all weight in one spot on buttocks causing pain and numbness of the entire leg. The lump in the front tips upward and presses on the pressure point of artery on the back of the leg. The foot rest keeps prevents the leg from having any place to strech the leg that is numb and tingling from the pain caused from the seat. The footrest is so high that if the leg is somewhat in a less painful position, you cannot reach the clutch engagement point. The lower section of the dash is so low your the shin bone hits it when engaging the clutch or trying to move leg from bent position forced by footrest.

Overall, we're quite pleased with it.

After 3 months and 6k miles, my Corolla is exactly as promised. Whether I drive 65 or 85, A/C on or off, the car gets 37-40 mpg. There is plenty of room for 4 adults, and all of their luggage. The ride is pretty good (all highway miles), the handling is very good, and the shifter's throw is short, enabling quick shifts, thus enabling the revs to stay high. The car really springs to life above 4000 rpm's. Have second thoughts about getting navy blue - it looks great when clean, but the slightest rain will turn it into a mess.

This is my second consecutive Corolla and my third consecutive Toyota in general. Since I discover Toyota, and comparing with previous other car-makers, I will buy Toyotas until the day I die. My previous Corolla ran for 153,000 miles and it never needed a repair. The interior is like you purchased a luxury car. The drive is smooth and it gives you the sensation that every piece is in the right place. I keep buying this car because it gives me security that not matter the distance or the time I will always make it to my destination without a problem. That's a big peace of mind.

Thank you Toyota for a poor person's porsche. This is a great car... takes corners at interesting speeds with no sway and keeps the revs up between shifts due to the close ratio gears. Yes, it is fun fun fun to drive. But, is well behaved, and uses much less gas, at low revs and higher gears.Yes, it is practical as well. (If you choose.) For a 1.8 liter engine, the engineers have managed to elicit a spunky engine with some surprises at the higher revs. At 6000 RPM do not be close to the car ahead of you.

After endless research this vehicle was the perfect choice for me. The MPG, safety ratings, reliability history, longevity since first introduced in 1968, interior design and features, while a bit expensive, seem very well built. I like the LE simulated wood look. For a small sedan I feel safe and secure. I was disappointed by the lack of ABS and side curtain airbags as optional equipment. However, the crash test results were impressive. This car is fun to drive and has decent acceleration.

This is my 4th Toyota... 1st one was purchased in 1969. I've owned many other cars over the years. I have rented many cars for business as well. Toyotas are bland, but reliability, economy and fit/finish convinced us to return. Our first weekend with the car was a 600 mile trip. We averaged 43 MPG! The car was quiet, comfortable and handles well. Another benefit, it fits much better in our garage than the Silverado we traded. Toyota continues to set the benchmark for mainstream vehicles.

As a 16 year old, this is my first car and I love it. I test drove the Civic but it doesn't even compare to the Corolla. The Corolla's handling is much more secure and the dashboard is much more ergonomic. The ride is smooth, and the handling is tight. The fuel economy is great - I drove 363 miles and only filled up 9.9 gallons - about 36 mpg! The Corolla is a safe, fun, and well designed car and I would recommend it to anyone.

So far, I love this car. I got tired of getting an avg 17 miles per gal in a 2003 4runner, so I traded it on this S corolla. In MD you pay 42 cents per gal in taxes. I just cut down the number of gal I consume by 50%. The car rides great, build is amazing. Interior and exterior design of the car is nice. There is a decent size trunk and I am 6'4" and there seems to be more headroom than the 4runner. I could not be happier.

The Corolla feels solid and well built. The drivers' seat is comfortable but due to the design of the dash pod?- can feel like you are stretching your arms a bit for the wheel even when the seat is moved forward; not too bad though. I've gotten between 39mpg all highway and 26mpg heavy city driving (we're talking 3 miles of parking lot Boston traffic here) and the car is not broken in yet. I've noticed: steering has good feel, gas pedal is a bit high for me but cruise on trips helps that, powerful ac and heat, decent sized trunk, area under door handles does seem to get scratched easily, good turning radius but low hood makes it a little tricky to park, decent torque, quiet ride.

Ride not as smooth at the Cirrus and some of the luxury features are not there...but the other things have made up for it. MPG, temperature gauge and I like the simplicity of the inside controls. Traded in a 1997.5 Infiniti J30 on this car, and so I'm dealing with culture shock. Nonetheless, so far, I've been impressed with the car. The quality of materials is excellent overall, and the car has a luxury-car feel even though it's a compact, high-mpg commuter car. Handling is a little mushy in turns, but that might be related to the Goodyear Integrity tires, not the suspension. Road and wind noise are surprisingly low, and engine noise while cruising is also generally low. I've averaged about 30 mpg in mixed driving. Trunk space is excellent for a car of this size, and interior comfort is high. Lack of standard ABS and side air bags is disappointing, given the competition.

First, I think Corollas are overpriced for being as bare bone as they are. Second concern is the quality. 1) Interior - I hear rattling noises every time the car goes over a small bump. Driver's seat is not stable in its position - keeps sliding back/forth when accelerating/braking. I already see the panels that cover side airbags begin getting unglued. 2) Brakes - very poor quality. I drive very carefully and I almost got into a couple of accidents since the time a bought the car. 3) Gas mileage - I do not get more than 25 mph driving in the city. I drove for almost 900 miles and I still see no improvements. 4) Low-beam lights are too dim to drive at night. There is a recall on that

I love it and it's reputation and resale value cannot be beat.

Bought new Oct 2006. Now have 13,500 miles on it. Zero problems. Extremely quiet, very little motor or wind noise. So quiet you tend to speed. Great, honest gas mileage. Freeway at 75 mph I get 34 - 36. Combined city and highway at lower speeds I get 36 - 38. Comfortable seating but "wings" on drivers seat dig into my back; could be softer. Steering wheel too far away!! I'm 6'2" and have my seat pushed back. Good ride, especially on highway. My only complaint is that the Bridgestone tires are very noisy on coarse pavement. Big trunk, roomy backseat for a small car. The LE is nicely appointed, a mini "luxury" car. It's a great car for the money.

Great reliable fun car to drive; excellent fuel economy. Nice look on the road, but nothing special, though the S and XLS models are more sporty than my CE. But, then I don't really go for all that sporty buff that just adds weight. I prefer a nice sporty design without the buff, like the Lexus sports car. Not the most comfortable car to drive; there just seems like there is no way to adjust the seat and tilt steering for a comfortable driving position; reaching the outdated-looking sound system controls are a stretch when reclining back in the driver's seat. The steering wheel doesn't have many tilt positions. Also, the dash and center console lighting are oddly different colors.

We already own a 1998 Corolla CE, and we like it so much that yesterday we purchased a 2006 Corolla LE! The car has ABS and side-impact airbags, along with the upgraded aluminum wheels and audio package. We chose the Cactus Mica, which apparently is pretty rare because the salesperson mentioned that Toyota only produces about 10% in that color. I'll keep our '98 for commuting. The new Corolla is much sportier and more fun to drive, and the car bears a striking resemblance to the Jetta prior to VW's latest redesign.

I recently traded in a 2004 Trailblazer with a V8. It was fun to drive and this small car will take getting use to. But the gas mileage is outstanding, especially when comparing to a big SUV. Although I don't have all the luxury features of an expensive vehicle, this car is real nice for me. The standard features and value make this a great car to save gas and have fun driving. It also handles way better than any SUV. It works for me. I'll just buy a cheap used pick-up truck for all my heavier needs but drive the new car to work. I compared all economy cars in this class, and nothing comes close to gas mileage, price, reliability, standard features, and looks.

I drove my brand new 2006 Corolla across the country from Ohio to Seattle in November 2005, and the performance was outstanding. Fuel economy was consistently between 41 and 46 mpg, and this included going over the mountains. It was comfortable to drive, had more storage than I had expected, handled very well in all weather conditions, and even survived hitting a deer in Colorado (although the entire front end had to be replaced). It is a peppy, fun little car to drive -- particularly with its smooth, quiet manual transmission. City driving up and down the steep hills of Seattle still gives an mpg of 34. Passengers are always amazed at how much room is in the back seat area, too. Great car!

The Corolla is Toyota's best kept secret - in my opinion it is even better than a Camry - just about the same size with way better gas mileage and about $5K cheaper. The LE model is equipped with all the options needed to be comfortable. The engine and transmission is so smooth. Driving on the interstates you have to be careful because you can't hear the engine and the ride is not compromised at 85 MPH. No scheduled maintenance tuneups until 120K miles due to new technology iradium spark plugs - antifreeze good for 100K. Other people can not believe that my car is a Corolla because it is not a little car - they also love the luxuious Indigo Ink Blue metallic color - used on Avalons.

I work & stay 100 miles from home so the car gets a regular dose of highway driving to return home. Performance is excellent! The car does not want to stay at the speed limit and given the opportunity, would be a favorite of state police. I actually forget when I last filled the tank. Gas mileage is excellent. The 4 speed automatic works great and when I kick down to pass, it downshifts at highway speed. This little car will get going! How can they couple such performance with miserly gas consumption? I had economy vehicles in the past that when floored, offered a slight difference in engine noise but no "GO". The days of the "economy" cars (spelled "DOG") have changed forever.

My first Toyota and I love it! From what I hear about Corollas it will probably be my last for at least 200,000 miles. And you can bet your bippy that I'll get another after that! Superb gas mileage, comfy seating (I'm 5' tall and its hard to find a luxury- like car that fits me) drives fun, quiet + smooth. This might sound strange, but I live in the boondocks and have never been able to get in many radio stations with my other vehicles, The Corolla's antenna rocks! Not that I use it much now that I have a 6 disk Cd changer! Wish the volume went up more though.

I owned a GM and finally I had enough. Problem after problem the quality and Dealer's after service was lacking. This is my first Toyota. I have had the car for three weeks and have driven over 750 miles. Quality is great. I only found one minor problem. The ride is great and the fit and finish are second to none. It is quite fun to drive.

We love just about everything about the '06. It's sporty looking, comfortable, and quiet. It has more pickup than I expected. I agree with others that a telescoping steering wheel should be available and ABS should be standard. We bought ABS & the side airbags. The rear seat has enough legroom (not roomy but not cramped). The upgraded sound package (VV) wasn't very impressive. We easily added fog lights to the LE (which is already wired for them) and wish it was an option.

Good reliable car with great gas mileage but driving this car needs to be more comfortable. Driving in the driver seat is not to comfortable. Gas, brake, and clutch pedals are to close together. Sometimes step on 2 pedals at once. But overall happy with this car. Don't have to put gas in this car all the time like the Mustang I had before. Nice & quiet ride and good power on the freeway. Able to pass lots of cars.

I now have over 6,000 miles on my Corolla, and am still happy with it. Engine performance is more than adequate, in fact it will actually spin the front tires from a stand- still on black top. Shifting is extremely smooth, (automatic trans). Fuel mileage is extremely good. On my second fuel up, but only on highway driving, I achieved 40.3 miles per gallon. I must confess that I was driving "GrandMa style", since the car had very few miles. I was still very impressed. Overall, and typically Toyota, this car is a great value, with Lexus quality. Perfect fit and finish, comfortable seating for 4 adults, with styling that doesn't lift anyone's eyebrow. It's a conservative car looking car. I like.

When you buy a Corolla, you know you're not getting a sporty chick magnet kind of vehicle. You're getting a safe reliable car that will get you from point A to point B in comfort. And the Corolla does that just fine. The engine is extremely loud at low speeds. Brakes are not that great but acceptable. Handling is subpar. But the engine does calm down a lot at cruising speeds and the car becomes luxury like quiet. Bumps and rattles are nonexistent, it's a very smooth ride. There's lots of headroom due to the car being so tall. It's taller than a Camry. The intrument panel illumination is a very clear and bright white but it doesn't match the green from the stereo and HVAC controls.

The build quality and features for the money are worth every the price. The double air tight insulation is also great as road noise is not heard. This 2006 Toyota S is just as quiet as my 1999 Toyota Camry which is a very quiet car.

I bought this car just for the fuel mileage we have several cars and trucks but none good on fuel. I have been pleased with the mileage so far with only 1300 miles on it I have gotten low 30's to 39.2 mpg. This car will move considering it's small engine, it will bury the speedo with no problem. I have no problems with rattles or road noise at all very quite and comfortable. It does blow around a bit in higher winds but it's a very light car. I was worried about the warm starting problems that I read about on boards with the 05 models, so far no problem at all on this or anything else. I am a big guy and have two kid's we all have enough room. Would I do it again? YES!

I bought the CE manual because I wanted an econo car that was reliable. Man, did I get one. It's beautiful, it's blue, it's a heck of a lot of fun to drive. Let me mention the price- $13.8K out the door - and this was AFTER I bought insurance at the dealer for the 1st month. This car is awesome. It's pretty - has a great sound system, though only a 1 disc CD, it's not slow at all, and it gets amazing gas mileage. I've only owned GM cars previously. Never again. I'm keeping this car for a long time. Only gripes: no side airbags, rolldown windows- my fault because I wanted cheap. Could have gotten them. If you want a great car for a great price, you won't be sorry with this one

So far after 1700 miles I only HATE 2 things. 1. The pedals for gas/brake/shifting were designed only for people with size 5 or smaller shoes. My Size 13's are constanly getting tangled in the tiny pedals. 2. Shifting into 2nd gear seems to be a challenge for this clutch as it tends to grind loudly unless the pedal is press extra hard to the floor when shifting. I would buy and automatic possibly but never a manual with this pedal dimensions and clutch.

In the cons section, this web site states the Corolla is a bit pricey... I don't think so if you consider that this is not your typical entry level car. This Corolla doesn't need audio upgrades (I got the one with six speakers), air conditioning is powerful, SUPER reliable, gas mileage is wonderful, and it doesn't get stolen as often as the Hondas. Ah, and did I mention it is actually powerful? And do not just look at raw numbers. If you want to compare fairly, divide the HPs by the weight of the car, and you get a Corolla that has very decent oomph. Now, if the price for all that is an extra grand, so be it. It will truly make you forget about car problems... And you will feel smarter.

I've received many good complimants from numerous passangers. With the S edition, you not only have fun driving this car, but you also do it in style. Who could have guessed that a Corolla could look this sporty and sharp? I absolutely love my Corolla S and would definitly buy another one if I was looking for a new car. I have had no problems with the car so far.

Found the Driver's seat is a bit loose on its track. It shifts back on acceleration. There is a rattling noise in the trunk when Corolla rolls over a deep pothole. Is it a loose spare tire equipment? The outside air vent blow warm air into cabin when the temperature thermostat is set to its coldest position and the outside air is so much cooler. Default CD Stereo system does not play MP3 audio files. Flimsy release latches for trunk and fuel filling lid on driver's side floor.

These cars sell themselves in LA for reliability. Look for breakdowns on the freeway, you'll see big models all makes, but seldom if ever will you see a Corolla and that's why I stick with it.

Starting in 1975 when we bought our first Corolla and up to now we have owned 4 of them. This is the best ever plenty of power, unless your a race car driver at Daytona. We have had the car 1 week along with our 2000 Toyota Echo, so I can't speak about mileage yet! But I can say the car is great in every respect, Good body fit, quiet ride, interior design could not be better. Of course the bottom line is Corolla quality, its gas miser appetite, and consistent high resale value!!

Basic transportation at best. It is not built to the quality level of Honda. High Wind / Rain on the highway blow the vehicle all over the road, and provides for tense driving. Two hands on the wheel are mandatory. The car "sails" with virtually no feel of the road in rain conditions. Numerous dash rattles, squealing brakes, and a front driver's seat which doesn't sit in the track properly are primary complaints.

I waited a long time to buy a new car, but finally decided to take the plunge. Picked the Toyota Corolla for reliability, gas mileage and looks. A little on the pricey side for a base model, but with gas prices the way they are, you can't beat the gas mileage I am getting from this car! The outside is nice and neat. The car handles nicely and for a 4-cylinder 1.8 - it can move! Interior is laid out nicely - driver seating takes some getting used to though, hard to adjust. The trunk cargo space is very good for a small car. Love the flip down passenger seats for extra cargo space. All in all, I have come to really love my new ride!

I recently switched from driving a truck, so my opinions are skewed a bit. I personally don't like being low to the pavement or the small mirrors compared to what my truck used to be, but the gas milage is awesome! It's a sharp looking car with a comfortable ride. The positives far outweigh the two negatives I mentioned earlier, but those are due to the change in vehicle type, I would be saying that about any car that I would have chosen. I recommend this car.

Ok, no surprise it has no problems its a TOYOTA. Have had it for 3 months now, great fuel economy (38 mpg on the highway last trip). The interior is high quality and nothing like an entry level domestic model. With the sunroof and 6 disc changer in the dash its a nice little car to commute to and from work, as well as a trip up the coast for vacation. My last toyota was 11 years old and had 219,00 miles on it and never went to the shop except for oil changes and a few sets of tires and brakes, I know this car will be as reliable as that, thanks toyota for building a car that is truly worry free.

We traded in our 86 Camry for the 06 Corolla LE. Looking for a family car with great gas mileage, we initially didn't consider the Corolla because we thought the back seat would be too small for 3 kids to ride in comfortably. To our surprise, the back seat is as roomy as our old Camry's, and the Corolla has more trunk space. We've only had the Corolla for a week, but we got 30 miles to the gallon on the first tank of gas (30%town/70%hwy) and have found this compact to have the solid feel of a much larger car. A little more leg room would be welcome, but then it would be a Camry and wouldn't get 30 miles to the gallon!

As of yet... this car has been all it should be... a Toyota. Its build is solid; mileage is great, and fun to drive as a daily commuter. The interior styling is a bit plain/simple, but at the same time a welcome sight to the complexity of some of todays rides. For what it is, a daily commuter/first car/mileage queen, the Corolla fits the bill.

Love this car. On the 200 mile trip home, got 41.9 mpg out of the initial tank of gas. Just what we were looking for. Fun, fuel efficient, and nice looking. Get the windows tinted if you're gonna leave it outside though, it has lots of window area.

Fun to drive

This is our 4th purchase of a brand new Toyota. First time to purchase the Corolla. It has more power than the 6 cyl. Camry we had. We purchased the car site unseen. The Corolla is fun to drive but I would not recommend it for long distance driving unless you want to stop every few hours and walk around. Toyota has come a long way over the last 18 years. They just keep improving and they get better and better.
