I bought this car spankin new and i still am In love with this car. This car hugs the road and does whatever you ask at a moments notice. The only thing I have had to fix is the alternator. Of course there are repairs like tires and brakes. This car has gone all these years and no mechanical breakdown! How many cars can you say that about? This car is GREAT!

Bought mine used 20k on it and have added a SCT tuner with Ford CAI and Flow master mufflers.I get 19.5 mpg in town and 24.5 mpg highway on regular 87 octane gas with normal driving. No major mechanical issues to report and have taken several long road trips in it with good comfort. The mustang GT offers great bang for the buck performance and decent fuel economy. The car is easy to work on for all the do it your self guys and gals. Would I buy a mustang again you betcha...

I bought my preowned 06 a few weeks back and am very glad I did. Screaming Yellow, car had some upgrades from previous owner (Airaid air filter system, Flowmaster exaust) It's about 360 horses of extreme fun. Although the car had 51K on it, Honda dealer included 3 year 36K bumper to bumper waurranty, and I plan to get the best out of those 36,000 miles. At 45 it was a mid-life crisis the wife even agreed with. LOL

I drive 50 miles each way to work and traded my 01 accord for a 06 mustand in 2008. Well 80k miles later the engine starts having this knocking noise and significant loss of power and not because I don't take care of my car as I changed my oil every 3K miles and keep it very well maintained. After Ford looked at the car they quoted me $4,100 to fix what they called a cam phaser issue (pumps oil to the top end of the motor). Needless to say I pulled the car from Ford and took to a performance shop, who said it needed a new motor for $4,800. Well thats great but this is not my toy its my daily driver. Long story short before you buy research cam phasers this appears to be an issue in many Ford

Get this car.

This car is just awesome. The 4.6L V8 makes the car, and the stock exhaust has a nice rumble to it that screams when you mash the pedal to the floor. I've had the car for 2 years and have about 52,000 miles on her with zero problems. For the price, you really can't beat it either (16300 in 2009 with 33k miles). Its faster, better looking, and really just more of a car than any used BMW/mercedes within its pricing segment. The only comparable competitor in the used car market this years Mustang has is in the 350z, which handles better but lacks in practicality. And on top of that, the Z doesn't sound as good as the 8 and after test driving could be a nightmare as a daily driver

Previous mustang owner (1980) and have had a serious stalking issue with this car since Ford introduced the '05 model. I don't care too much for the look of the 09-11 models, and recently found an '06 and bought it from the original owner. He drove it a lot (70k miles), but took good care of it and she looks sweet. So much fun to drive and decent gas mileage too.

I drive a lot of miles, at least 150/day. I just had the water pump replaced at 166,000 miles and decided it was time to do the rest of the maintenance that I have neglected for the last 5 years. I changed the oil regularly with Mobil 1 and changed the brakes when necessary. Other than that everything has always worked perfectly. I replaced the spark plugs at 140,000 miles just because. The originals still looked good, just needed a gap adjustment.

I purchased this Horsey in memory of my dad, Max M. Kruger a design engineer and an original member of the Mustang design team under Lee Iaccoca at Ford. Compared to my 2 previous '73 Mach I joys, this Steed is more stealthy, has greater visibility and obviously more technologically refined. Had only one real issue with her. The trip meter occasionally zero's itself even after extensive dealer repairs and tech help from Ford. Yes a few rattles. Also needed a new battery due to Florida heat. Got a set of General Ulimax HP tires and they are the best I ever owned. I'm not sure which I like better, watching my wife drive off in her, me driving us, or just looking at her. Max Lives!

Dash board rattles, dealer couldn't fix it, filed lemon law got $2000 from Ford. Brake pads & rotors went at 12,000 miles witch is unheard of, $600- $800 job. Replaced bat after 3 yrs which is norm. Replaced fuel filter which is recommended. Rear brake bulbs have been replaced about 4 times (easy to do yourself though) other then that nothing major has gone wrong. I drive 12,000 a year, some highway road trips and still drives great.

I drive very little (about 5k miles per year), but when I do i like to wring it out around town, on the highway, and twisty back-country roads. This car handles them all very well. Haven't had any real issues, and have kept up with scheduled maintenance. I did have a transmission pan leak which was repaired by a dealer; a few months later it was leaking again and the dealer fixed it again (free as was still under warr. then). I have an extended warranty for peace of mind but don't anticipate needing it. There has always been a little squeak near the gauge cluster, which I meant to get fixed but it hasn't bothered me enough to do so.

Bought the car with 9,000 km and 11 months old. The car has 90,000 km as of May 2010. The car has been bullet proof in terms of reliability. I have just replaced the tires and the original battery. The only issues have been: Engine check light on briefly at 87K, and self-cleared (must have been a loose gas filler cap), and the rear tail light bulbs blow every 15K or so ($4 bulb-big deal). Other than that: just oil and filter changes. Car has been very reliable and solid. Body creaks/groans at 90K are still minimal, but you can now tell the car is nearly 4 years old, lots of life left in it. I will replace shocks & struts this year and this should solve the problem.

This was my first new car purchase and I really liked it at first....Untill everyone in Oklahoma city bought one. Atleast there will be pleanty around to pull parts of in the salvage yard. Guys and gals, this car is what it is plus a tiny, tiny bit more..... It's a (new) $20,000 sports car. I do actually love mine and it runs great but I can see it going to pieces not too far down the road. It's starting to rattle a little much and the two "subs" in the door aren't subs.... Subs are made to play mounted in a box, not mounted in a door but hats off to ford for at least trying to be hip.

Nice styling car and fun to drive when it is not heading back to dealership for unending mystery electrical problems. I have had to many problems with this car to ever want another sports car again. Couple that with a dealership that wants to nickel and dime you on warranty work makes for bad Ford business. Not a practical car to own in the winter time in Colorado Springs.

I bought this car used with 17,000 miles and it was in perfect condition. The acceleration is decent but could always use more power. Handling has been excellent even in the 3 blizzards we've had this year. You do get bounced around quite a bit on bumpy roads but then again, it's not exactly a luxury car. My Color back-lighting is a cool feature to play around with. Insurance surprisingly wasn't that bad (considering I live in NJ). All in all this car has been amazing to own and a blast to drive considering it's a 110 HP improvement over my previous car.

So so....

I was exceptionally impressed with the down and dirty V6. The Chevy Monte Carlo LT and SS Intimidator have nothing on the 4.0 stock!! I bought an 06 5-speed Pony Edition before I went to college. It's about 8 months later and the throttle body is havin issues, killing the car about every 30 miles. The clutch is slipping already, not impressed with that. The Shaker 500 is really nice, don't crank it too loud though. The amp for the stereo runs down the factory battery like no other. It's reliable as heck until the engine starts acting up. Had the system checked, so I know its the throttle body. For a car that is four years old, the clutch and induction should not be having trouble.

I purchased the Mustang new with every option you could get on the V6 Premium Cpe including "Pony Package". It's the first American car I've bought in 20 years. Great looking car with a very stiff ride and lots of rattles. At 30k service, it needed an Alternator and a battery. All things considered, I like the car sans the rattles which the dealer has been unable to fix. I have a 20 year old toyota with out any rattles!

09/23/06 I financed a '06 Mustang GT, my 1st new car. Previously my family and I have had about 10 Fords. after 6 mos. the car stalled out, I didnt think anything of it. In'07 the problem became more noticeable I also had the battery replace twice. The alternator and L/F headlight (water). In'08 the problem became more frequent stalling between 30-40mph. The dealer couldnt find thr problem after frequent visits. In Feb.'09 I was going to trade it in for a used '08 Shelby GT500. The deal fell apart when the belt kept tearing. Took it to another dealer and was told crank was bad, waited 2 mos. to have engine rebuilt. called cust.service they're very nasty. Lemon law, govt agencies, legal no help

I have never had a brake job and I'm at 63k miles and still have 20% wear left. Solid, solid, solid is what this car is. I won't ever get rid of it. Best thing Ford ever did.

I've always wanted a V8 Mustang since my dad showed me a certain Steve McQueen movie called Bullitt, I just loved the styling and ferocity of McQueen's highland green '68 fastback GT. Nothing else was cooler. Then Ford released the '05 model, now that's a Mustang! Well in a nutshell I found a tungsten grey '06 GT auto with 7k on it and bought it. Best decision ever. I love this V8! It's fast and it sounds great, though mine now sports a cold air intake and Pypes Violator exhaust and it turns heads with it's loud rumble. Also this car is built extremely well. 31k on it and not even a rattle, not a problem. This is one I WILL NOT BE TRADING IN!

I have been very pleased for the most part with my 06 Mustang GT. I think the retro styling of the car is great. It's like driving a 60s Mustang only better. The steering response is great and it corners like a dream. I am 6'2 and have never had a car that felt this comfortable. The Shaker 500 sounds awesome. I have had aftermarket setups that didn't sound as good. I only have a couple complaints. The rubber strips used to seal the inside of the windows scratch the hell out of my window tint when running them up and down. There is a rattling noise under hard acceleration that almost sounds like detonation; but I am running 92 octane fuel and have ruled that out. Very impressed

Bought new, my red dream stang has performed, well, overall. Interior, passenger side vent rattles, interior tail light housing held in place by flimsy, plastic screw assemblies. Closing the trunk causes the rear lights to blink. On positive side, average over 20.5 miles per gallon, everywhere!. Car used mainly to go to gym and back and to the beach on weekends. Runs fast, but interior is noisy. Hope Ford adds interior insulation package to 2010

I currently have 31,000 miles on this car and it has never been back to the dealer. I have been doing oil changes and routine maintenance. The only complaint I have is the Road noise seems a little loud to me. I get 25 MPG driving to work - mixed city/rural, and got 28 on a long trip on the freeway.

I love this car. That's why it pains me to have to report this car's been in the shop almost a dozen times. It was in for the rear clutch pack TSB 4 times! The Shaker system ate several CD's. It rattles. It's hard to fuel at times. The A/C barely cools the interior. I've had 10 year old Honda's that didn't exhibit 1/10th the problems this car's had. This is the last Ford this former employee will ever buy. What a shame.

I bought this car to be an occasional driver - I have only put 13,000 miles on it in 3 years. Here is a list of things replaced on warranty and mileage when replaced: Differential - 500 miles Radiator fan - 1800 miles Door jamb switch - 1900 miles A/C compressor - 2900 miles Fuel pump - 6100 miles A/C high pressure switch - 7800 miles Alternator - 9200 miles A/C line - 10400 miles A/C recharged - 12700 miles The warranty has just expired and guess what? A/C not working again. For some unknown reason this vehicle does not want to have working A/C. Very frustrating. After my experience with this car I understand why the big 3 are in financial dire straits. Very shoddy workmanship IMO.

First the bad. Struggling to get a full tank is unacceptable. Turning the nozzle upside down usually fixs the problem. Car is kinda thirsty but for the performance you get on regular gas, it's within the bounds of acceptable. I have an automatic and the hesitation on downshifting is unacceptable and unsafe when driving aggressively. Now the good. In over 39000 miles, it's never left me stranded. Never been in the shop for repairs. Cabin is squeak and rattle free still. Took it on a 8000mi trip and NEVER got out of it with a back ache. Stereo is great. Seat, console and door armrest position is the best I've ever had. I love the car and I'm not an easy person to please. Worth a look!

Car is fun enough to drive, but having had the battery die twice in my garage, first time after owning it for two weeks, and again in June 09. Auto feature on windows most times work fine, but often only work one way and not always the same way. Air conditioning is poor most of the time. Didn't work at all once, took it to the dealership- told it takes time to cool off - I guess an hour is not long enough when it's blowing hot air. Next day it worked fine. Wouldn't take it on a trip in hot weather. Would not buy one again. Dealership charged me for an auto emission test, but not necessary if driven under 5000 miles in a year.

I have owned 3 mustangs recently; a 2002 V6, a 2004 anniversary V6, and my current 2006 V6 coupe. The 2006 is by far the best of the three I've owned. The sleek exterior reminiscent of the fastback look and retro interior are much preferred to the builds in the first half of the 2000's. My model is a torch red 5 speed manual which shifts much smoother than the previous vehicles. Options include all the V6 premium additions plus Pony Package (fog lamps / upgraded grill are sporty). The interior has a limited dark charcoal all leather finish, and the dash is upgraded to include the multi-function display below the speedometer and SHAKER-1000 Audio - much improved over previous MACH systems

She's exactly what I wanted

My 2006 Mustang GT is my seventh Mustang and by far, the best. The car runs 13's in the quarter, gets over 20mpg, sounds great, and is a blast to drive. Not the best handling car on the road, not the fastest either, but a solid platform that you can make into whatever kind of Mustang you would like. Tons of after market support including: wheels and tires, body kits, suspension system upgrades, power upgrades like blowers, turbos, nitrous oxide injection, super chargers cams, heads, etc... You take care of your Mustang and she'll take care of you. I run premium fuel and full synthetic oil. Follow the maintenance guidelines, don't be cheap and skip over expensive services.

After owning a 98v6 mustang, and investing almost $2000 on paint, rims, body work, and lights, I new I needed a v8. I bought my gt because I got a good deal, and because I've always wanted a v8 mustang. Acceleration is awesome, you can hear this thing breathe. Handles well also. Takes corners like its on rails. Interior is ok, not as bad as some say, well to my standards. Leather is great, convertable top is awesome. Mpg is not that bad for me. I get around 18 city, and 26 on highway, I have a heavy foot too. Love the retro style... Don't regret purchasing this beast. Wish I had more power, but I can fix that with aftermarket stuff.

We ordered our's Labor Day of '05 and picked it up in Nov. Power, handling, MPG, looks are all amazing. At first, the MPG was awful but it's only temporary. After the break in period, I've seen as high as 26 MPG (at avg. 77 MPH) and regularly get 23-24 MPG on my commute (1/3 city 2/3rds Hwy). I suspect, it could go as high as 30 MPG on a long trip and a moderate 65mph but don't think I never put my foot in it. Plenty have tried but no one has beat me in stop light drags. Handling is surprising for solid rear axle, but would prefer a proper independent rear suspension. There are downsides, heavy doors, squeaks & rattles from dash but this is one of the most pleasurable cars on the road!

used to love it...

I wanted the gt for many years, so I finally traded in my Mitsubishi for a 06 tungsten grey mustang gt. Ran great for about 2 months, then the problems started to occur... Ford services departments no matter where you go are no help, your better off saving time and money by going to an aftermarket shop to have any work done. I have owned it for a year and am done putting time and money into it. Though you can customize the car to any extent your better off getting a Dodge, Toyota, anything other than a ford.

I'll be sad to see mine go. I've had BMW's, Camaro's, and Vettes, and this is by far my favorite car to date. Very reliable so far with only one problem (fuel gauge sensor) but otherwise a perfect all around car. Not too fast (yes there is such a thing), but more than fast enough to get you in trouble on any road.

Sad but True....not worth it

I have owned my car for 3 years. Wanted one since I was a kid. Very unhappy. Squeaks and rattles in the dash, window tint scratches when rolled down, spoiler comes lose constantly, vibration in front end that no one can seem to fix, new rattle in suspension, beginning to have trouble with the drive train, carpet and leather wear terribly, windows are beginning to leak when washed, more wind noise etc. This car was garage kept and babied, there is no excuse for this horrible quality. Though it was fun to drive and gets lots of look I will likely never buy Ford again! Go with the Honda, Toyota, Acura, Lexus or what ever else you are looking at!

The 2006 Mustang v6 Coupe is my 7th Mustang, I bought it new off the lot, and it's left me stranded all over town--thank God I have roadside assistance! After two years of ownership a dead battery left me stranded out at work at midnight, in March I'll have had the car 3 years and I just had to put a new transmission in it at 68,000 miles. The Ford dealer said that since I hadn't had the transmission serviced at 30,000 mile intervals like the manual says I need to, they can't help. I've not had the oil changed exactly every 3,000 miles, does this mean the engine is going to blow? Very poor quality.

Great retro fun, but...

Bought this car after convincing my wife we "needed" a convertible. Since we have a child, we needed something with a back seat. Since I needed a "sports" car (re: not FWD), the Mustang was the only real option. After years of disliking Mustangs (Fox platform versions), and driving several Japanese cars (Civics, WRX, etc), I was pleasantly surprised how quickly this car reminded me what's important in a car...a good sounding and performing engine, great looks, and back-to-basics simplicity, which means living with some shortcomings. The rear live axle can feel a little unplanted on rough roads during spirited cornering. The interior materials quality is also low-rent in look and feel.

As soon as I got a glimpse of the 2006 Mustang GT I knew that I would have one, all I had to do was find one that was black on black. Well, that proved to be harder than anticipated. It took more than a year but we found a dealership that would allow us to build the car of our dreams. I picked Elvira up on Oct 2nd 2005 and she has been loved every day since. We drove her from Ohio to Florida in pouring rain without any trouble and surprising gas mileage. She is garage kept and stored as soon as snow threatens to fall. Our only complaint has been the cupholder position and trouble finding quality after market parts such as the shaker system that my husband suprised me with this past birthday

I have owned many Mustangs. From a 1965 Coupe to a 2003 Mach 1 (I still own that one). This is the best Mustang yet in every area. It handles well, looks great, and has much more room that any previous Mustang. I have a five speed manual and it gets over 30 mpg on the highway although it is not rated that high. This car is the best "all around" car I have ever owned. In addition everywhere I go everyone compliments me on the car and wants to know all about it. I have found that not only is this car welcome at Mustang shows it is also welcome at all local cruise in's, car shows, etc. Try that with your SUV. It is 1965 all over again with this latest generation Mustang!

I've had my 06 Mustang GT for two and a half years. Overall, I love this car! The modern-retro look, the powerful v-8, the American-muscle rumble, its got it all. I always love driving it, even in my routine communites. In the world full of soccer mom mini-vans, clunky pick-up trucks, and ho-hum sedans, it feels good driving a car that stands out and demands attention. This just doesn't become a "daily driver car" like your grand am, accord, or malibu. This car becomes a part of you. You'll eventually end up giving this car a name like Shelby, Sally, or Eleanor. This is the type of car that you pass down to your children. So, buy one, throw in your fav AC/DC album, and drive and live!

Great car, dollar for dollar the most gratifying car I've owned. After coming off a slug slow but reliable BMW this is a very fun exciting ride. Wife's Audi which left our world last month feeling like a recovering crack addict, put her in the new 2009 flex. Average mileage 60% city 40% freeway/speedway southern california avg hghwy speed 80 mph overall mileage 21 on the Mustang v-8 quite impressive. Can't say enough about this car plan to hit 300k before retirement then it will still be worth a rebuild for weekend duties and fun.

I wanted a lime 68 as a kid but never could afford one. Now I am 50 and Ford not only brought back the color, but they made it look like what I wanted. I had been looking for a 68 or 69 in that color, which is impossible to find so I saw this 06 on the internet at my local dealer. One test drive made me realize that I didnt want an old one anymore. I got the looks coupled with power handling and a quality in the build that the 68 and 69 were lacking. So far I can't say enough good things about the car and hope to get a grabber orange to add to the 89 convertible, 98 coupe and 06 GT that I have now.

I've owned it for about 2 1/2 years now, I have about 45,000 miles on it. This was my first car, first manual. The clutch has been slipping for the past 10,000 miles or so (but held up well in my opinion). The handle/knob broke off of the driver seat release to lift it forward in order to get to the back seat. The rear differential has the TSB whining noise during low speed turns. And I also had a problem a few times with the TSB of water leaking into the passenger floorboard and causing some electrical problems. Overall, it's held up very well considering the abuse it's received. The seats are uncomfortable on a 2 1/2+ hour drive. The gas mileage is bearable, and not bad for the performance

This is my 9th Mustang. All 5.0's. My buddies giggled when I showed up with mine. That was until I took them for a ride. Now four of them own a V6. Two more are in the market for one. I installed the dual exhaust, cold air intake, and a reprogrammer. This pony bucks now! It also rides like a dream. The fuel mileage is great on the highway, not so much in town. But that's my fault. Love the car, hands down. We did have to have some repairs done within the first 10,000 miles such as the shifter, fuel pump, etc. The gas tank on occasion will not accept a full tank of gas? This happened to my buddy also and he had his fuel tank replaced, sounded like a design error.

This is my third Mustang, my last being an '88 GT convertible that I also bought new. What a difference 18 years can make! This car is faster, smoother, quieter (yes, I know a convertible is noisier, I'm comparing to friends' '88 GT hatchback), quicker around the corners, stops better, sounds better and gets better gas mileage to boot. What's not to love? This car was love at first sight. I sold two cars to swing the downpayment and special ordered the car with all the toys - 18" wheels, and a 1000 watt 6 disc with subwoofers in the trunk. I'm a stick shift guy and this car has a wonderfully smooth transmission that shifts much better than my '88 GT. I commute 55 mi./day and get 22mpg

I bought mine new in July of 06. v6 Legend Lime w/pony package. I went with the V6 due to price and insurance cost. After adding a S&B CAI, Predator tune, and GT muffler, I bumped up the hp to that of a small block v8, about 240hp. A 4:10 is going in shortly to makeup for the automatic. The v6 is a great platform to start off on if your on a tight budget. Responds well to S/C's which take the v6 to the 310hp range. I don't have that many miles on the car, but I haven't had any issues with it. I still get many compliments from people when I am out and about. I have no regrets with this car. It's a blast.

Options on our car include the Pony package, leather seats and upgraded stereo. Having owned a '65 Mustang Fastback for many years I really wasn't expecting to be impressed by the new Mustangs. Boy was I wrong. With each session behind the wheel of the new Pony, the poor handling, braking and lack of air conditioning of my classic Pony becomes even more evident. The new Pony really is more fun to drive. Even though I bought the car for my daughter, I do get to drive it when it needs gas. Which isn't that often since the peppy V6 gets 18-20mpg in town & 26-30 mpg on the road. So many styling cues taken from the early Mustangs I feel right at home in this car.

The car is a great commuter car. Not really a quick car (0-60mph 7-7.3 sec) from my experience (I have an auto). The tires are loud on the freeway and can get annoying on long trips. The ride comfort on the freeway is good, but a litle stiff on city roads. Also there is a lot of body roll while cornering at over 18 mph. The transmission shifts nice and smooth, but it is not the quickest shifting transmission. The fuel economy is not bad in the city I get 18-20 mpg, but if I use cruise control on the freeway I average 24-28 mpg.

I waited to buy a Mustang after I saw that a new boby style was coming out. I ordered mine from my brother who is a manager at a Ford dealer. Over the phone I showed him several web sites that had the type of spoiler, stripes and front air dam that I wanted. I grew up with sixties muscle cars and wanted mine to look retro. So many people stopped me to ask about the car that it began to get embarassing. The car look great. Dark Blue with white LeMans stripes, and a duck tail spoiler. My neighbor(its been across the street for 2 yrs)asked my wife what kind of milage I was getting with that old muscle car. She told him 20+ combined city/Hwy. he called her a lier, and she told him it was an 06.

I've just turned 30,000 miles and have enjoyed each one of them. No reliability issues. Have only seen the dealer for routine service. This car is my daily-driver, rain, shine or snow. It has never failed to get me home, even in the snow! I've added a strut tower brace and a more-efficient (louder) exhaust. The exhaust seems to have helped the gas-mileage (avg 21- 22mpg mixed city/freeway). It is a comfortable car to take a trip in and the 500 watt stereo is fine. No squeaks or rattles.

Well, I decided to build one just the way I wanted, and ordered an 06 GT convertible with every option except the auto trans (how dare you !?) and the 1000 watt stereo (I wanted as much truck space as possible). Well, I love it. The build quality is great. The performance is exhilarating. And it is always fun, fun, fun. A few issues were taken care of by the dealer - he bent over backwards to them make right. The car just works. And looks great doing it. I’m even surprised about how well the resale value has kept up.

Where do I start, I bought this car with 14,000 miles. In feb 07 a month later I had it back to the dealer for the paint coming off the bumper. Got that fixed 2 weeks later, my school books where soaking wet I left my bookbag in the trunk. I thought the top was leaking, but after 8 trips to dealer with the car being there for as many 30 days to get it back with same each time we cant find the major leak. I have come to the conculsion that it is leaking from the weld in the body. Back to body problems the Mustang stripe has come off 2 times. I finally got tired of the dealer being so blind to the problem. I called a lemon law lawyer, so now I have a pending lawsuite against Ford. For all my trouble

We purchased this car one year old, and it has been fantastic in reliability and retro style. Love the convertable roof, stereo is very good (shaker 500), and the car drives extremely well. We traded a very unreliable and quirky Mazda rx8 for this car, and every time I turn the key the Mustang jumps to life and is eager to run. The car handles very well considering its size and gives the driver a confident feel of the road, always in control. A 1500 mile trip to the coast turned in 26 mpg which is great considering the HP/Size (way better than the RX8 too). In town average is around 18 mpg.

I just bought my 2006 Mustang GT. This is an amazing vehicle. Mine came with an after market intake and Ford racing exhaust. These two mods make a huge difference to the performance. I would highly recomend them. I can say I get looks from everyone when I drive by. The fuel milege is pretty good for a V8 with 300HP. The Shaker 500 stereo is very good for being stock. The only thing that I would like to see is a more race inspired bucket seat in the front. Other than that wouldn't change a thing.

I loved my 2003 Mustang GT deluxe coupe, but all it took was a short test drive for me to trade it in for a 2006 GT premium coupe (both manual transmissions). The increase in horsepower and safety was what truely convinced me. I mostly do in town driving and average about 20 mpg, but I took two trips both over 1200 miles where I averaged 26 mpg. I had to have the stereo replaced about 4 months after I got it, but since then I have had no problems. I have a friend who owns a V6 and he didn't think that there was much difference between his and mine until he took it for a quick spin in the parking lot, now he is thinking of trading his in.

My wife and I own two 2006 GTs, this coupe and a premium cont. She drives ,the convert has only 6k miles ,they are both great cars and were fine stock ,I own my own mustang shop and modify the cars all of the time ,neither one of our cars is stock ,they are the best all around Mustangs ever built ,we have had no problems ,the shaker 500 is great ,and the back seat isnÂ’t that bad once you get in ,best bang for the buck out there. I have owned around ten Mustangs, including a task built 428 car the aftermarket is huge for this car, Ford did right by getting the aftermarket involved from the start

I just bought a 2006 GT Conv with 13000 miles. I've had it two days and already love it. My other vehicle is a Mazda CX-9 (for the family). This one is fun for me and I can still haul the family for fun trips. With the GT (V8), I'm surprised that I'm averaging 20-23 mpg--not bad considering the 300 horses and irresitible urge to nail it and nail it and well you get the point. Buy this vehicle. If $ are tight, I recommend an 06 or 07--great bargains out there. I personally chose a used GT instead of a new V6. I would have considered a used 05, but I never get a car its first year in production--no idea if there's any real basis in that- -just my personal hangup.

I've always wanted a Mustang, but never thought I'd actually get one. I researched all the Japanese cars that got good fuel economy, but I could not get the Mustang out of my mind. Even though it doesn't get the MPGs I was looking for, it was totally worth it. And I don't know how happy my parents are having a 17 year old drive a fast sports car, they agree it is a great car. Every time I get in the car I have a huge smile on my face.

I made the mistake of buying one of these 2006 lemons. It is sitting in the shop w 46000 miles on it..the bill? $3000. Entire rear diff has to be replaced including the axles are shot. Theres a service bulletin so get yours checked! Ford offered to pay 750..I drive it like a baby and a rear diff should not go out that early. Research and you will find Im not the only one. Im not fixing this lemon. Its going to its grave and Im buying a foreign car. Called Ford..they said thanks for calling...they dont stand behind their cars so why would I put myself in one? Perfect personalized plate would be FORDLMN if I was gonna keep it. Save yourself the hassle and heartache....dont buy one.

After searching all the competitors out there, including the German and Japanse cars, how could anyone not consider a Mustang? I bought a GT convertible. Wow, for the money this car has no peer. Right out of the box the power and handling of this car are fantastic. To think I can get add-on accessories to boost this performance to even higher levels without breaking the bank is even better. Top down driving is fun. Your passengers in the back may ask you to roll up the windows on the freeway, but in the front seats the wind is manageable. The family loves the car and want to take it everywhere. Four seats. Great stereo with excellent bass response. Very comfortable seats (I'm over 6') too.

By far my favorite car I've owned. Was wary about Ford but not anymore, has been very reliable. No rattles, no broken pieces. Car accelerates and handles well. Acceleration and cruising at high speeds definitely are strongest points. Love the exterior and interior styling. I get lots of compliments. Older style Mustang drivers strike up conversations. Little kids come up to me. College dudes and teens in small Japanese sporty cars often want to race. Trunk space sufficent. Compared 350z and rx-8 when looking. 350z was not dailly commute friendly, RX-8 too small. nothing compares with the brawn and muscle of a mustang right now. Only negative is handling in rain and snow.

I love my Mustang but I have had so many problems with it I wish I could get rid of it! The first problem was the rear end started leaking at 2,000 miles, fixed. Hood insulation started burning at 2,500, fixed. Trunk popped on its own, fixed after 3 dealer visits. No start or die at idle, dealer cant find a problem. Mustang stripes below doors bubbled up, not fixed! Two weeks ago my car totally died, after fighting with Corporte Ford a week they let the dealer look at it, ignition coil pack fell off, yeah fell off, how in the hell! Car still dies and trembles hard at low RPM's! Oh to top it off Ford gave me a Chevy Cobalt to drive while they fixed mine...I'd buy a Cobalt, thats the truth!

I've had about a dozen cars (and even a few trucks) revving engines and wanting to race. Also had lots of comments on the "nice ride", one fellow with a PT cruiser convertable even made an offer to buy it at a stop light! I had a 77 Cobra back when, and I have to admit you really can go back with this car. If you want to have fun, you can't really go wrong with this ride.

First had a '67, and of course regret ever getting rid of it. Bought this as a leftover in December 06 for a steal, loaded with rebates, dealer concessions, etc. Best buy in a car ever. Solid as a rock. Fast, and the sweetest engine rumble. Handles exceptionally well, and goes almost as quick as my supercharged 01 Jag XKR. Rougher, more raw power, but it adds to fun. Amazingly solid for a conv. A truly fantastic value with auto, premium everything, etc. Great car. Tempts me to get rid of my Jag and match this conv with an 08 fully loaded GT coupe!

I bought a convertible before I got too old to appreciate it, and I'm glad I did. My grandkids complain I'm too old to be driving such a hot car. Car is an absolute blast to drive, head and shoulders better than my 2000 GT coupe. Car looks super with top down, and I frequently get compliments. Power top has been trouble-free, no leaks to date. Biggest issue I have is interior squeaks/rattles I never had with my 2000 GT, which are annoying when top is up. Shaker 500 stereo is nice but I'm not sure speakers are suited to it. Rear defrost switch is in awkward position, hard to operate/see when in 5th gear. Using cupholders can make shifting awkward. Still, a tremendous value, super to drive.

While in hospital for 4 months, I used the latest style Mustang as my "carrot to recovery." My 1st "pinned in the seat" experience was in a '68 428 (I was 9). V6 goes like a small V8. In Canada, Ford markets this as the "Pony Pkg," which includes the handling pkg (ABS, traction control, and rear sway bar). Beautiful "Bullitt" wheels (17") and Pirrelli's, are included, along with Pony badging. 5 speed auto is smooth and saves gas (22 mpg imp). Build quality rivals my Camry. The vented, 4 wheel disc brakes are amazing! Car really handles well, too. Overall, I'm very pleased, with this well balanced car. The 210 horsepower V6 is ample for today's economy/gas prices/speed limits.

Have Mustang blood due to multiple Mystangs owned by parents. Had to sell a rare "Q-code" '73 Cobra Jet Mach I while in graduate school, but promised I would replace it with a better car. '06 GT is faster, better looking, better handling, gets better mileage, is safer, it's better in nearly every way! Power is very impressive and surprises most. This car is quick and sounds wonderful. I love my Mustang, but did knock off an interior design point due to stupid cup holder location.

Auto trans had to be pulled at 1k miles, then the valvetrain started clattering at 2500 miles, check engine light, gas smell in car, no power, Ford dealer could not fix it and Ford corporate would not help me. I believe it is NOT normal. There is a surge in the RPMs in neutralÂ…up to 2500 at times. This problem is intermittent. According to the engineer, this is the way the car is supposed to drive if the car is not downshifted, and also that it could be that I am not pushing the clutch in all the way. I have had this problem occur even in the absence of these supposed precipitating factors. I have had my Mustang in for service numerous times over the past year. The problem started a month after I bought the car. If it is normal, why didn't it do it when I first bought the car?

Bought a new 06 GT leftover, after only one month and 1k miles the auto transmission started leaking, took it back for repair. A month later the car starts using lots of gas, running rough, no power, gas smell in car, and check engine light comes on. Take it back, dealer says 3 spark plugs are burned up, they give it back "fixed." Leaving the dealership same problems, take it back, they "reflash" the computer, say its fixed. Leave dealer, same problem, now the valves are clattering, take it back, they say "we'll have to talk to Ford and let you know." I call Ford, they say "we'll have to talk to the dealer and let you know." The dealer then says the valve racket is "normal" as is the gas smell.

I am a 21 year old sailor. I had money to spend and I looked at 10 different cars from Acura to Mazda. And the car that came out on top for me was the 2006 Mustang GT. It is not only stylish, It is fast out of the box. With the 5 speed manual there are not too many stock cars that can take you on. My GT was a deluxe with everything a premium has, it was a canceled order, but canceled too late. Their loss was my gain. I love this car, I have began upping the performance and I can't wait to see what she's got after I max out her potential. I would recommend this car to anyone with the need for speed and eye for beautiful cars. I am proud to say I own a FORD.

Working at a Fortune 100 company you'd think there would be less minivans and Hyundais in the parking lot. But mine is like 1/4th Mustangs. But mine has the pony package and interior upgrade. I love the looks and get tons of compliments. It's fast, handles well, gets OK gas mileage, great on highway, really bad if you look at the digital mileage while idling or city driving. Shaker 500 sound system is terrible, it's very bulky and doesn't match with my aluminum dash. They should have made all the climate knobs silver and stereo trim. Water always drips off the roof edge onto my seat when its raining and you open door. Water sits in the gas cap area, can rust? No trunk release inside either?

About once a day some stranger stops me to ask me about my Mustang. It's fun to drive, has great power. I have an automatic and it accelerates and shifts quite well. Best part of car is that you can customize it beyond belief. So far no problems other than a rattle with the covers to the child safety seat bars in rear dash which is easily fixable. Changing the oil is extremely easy compared to import cars and it only needs regular fuel. Car comes with a lot for the buck and interior is nice although it scratches easily as others have noted. I highly recommend this car to anyone in search of power, ability to upgrade to performance parts, and driving fun. Good fuel economy for the power.

I drove it to Florida in late November with plans to stop halfway for the night. But the car was so much fun to drive that I kept going. Twenty hours later I reached my destination and still wanted to keep driving. Of the 51 vehicles that have passed through my hands in the last thirty-five years, this is the most enjoyable. Note: With only 8300 miles, and being stored during the winter, I cannot truthfully report on longer-term reliability.

My on going quest for the perfect vehicle stopped at the 2006 Ford Mustang V6. I needed a car that looked cool, could carry my friends without too much complaint, and had that fun factor that everyone desires. After first gear I was sold. The pull was impressive. The salesman, who was obviously new to ford, actually asked if it was the V8. The cornering is tight and whips into parking spots effortlessly although the nose is long and sometimes deceptive to where it is. The gas mileage is better than expected, while cruising at 80 mph, I achieved 32 mpg. The cabin is roomy, even for a 6'2" guy like me. Even still, my knee tends to hit the hard plastic boarder of the center radio cluster.

I am a Ford/Lincoln Mercury Tech for 38 years. I have owned three Lincoln Mercury MK-VIII 's and compared to this Mustang, Ford missed the mark . The handling is not near as good compared to the MK-VIII. I have taken curves on a every day basis at high speeds and the Mustang will feel loose in the rear end. This is due to the live axle. The Mustang is a fun car and quick, but would have better handling with an independent suspension. But all in all this is a very fun car to drive for a 58 year old young man. Note - the Mustang will pass just about everything except a GAS STATION.

I have had this car for about 4 months. I just started college, and I use the car for my 6 hour drive to and from school. It makes the drive pretty well. However, when I am in the passenger seat during the drive, I get annoyed with the way the dash is set up. It's hard to put your feet up. Also, the seat doesn't recline very far. The seats are very comfortable though. I am always cold and my boyfriend is always hot, so I really like how easy it is to close the vents on one side of the car. I just had to replace the gear shift at 15,000 miles. I would like a larger back seat, but it's as big as would be expected for a Mustang. It's hard to get in and out of because of the long doors.

I have a 06 GT Mustang, use it on weekends and it's a ball to drive. Handles well, don't really like the fly by wire throttle, it just feels slow to operate and slow to close when shifting. I had the dealership lower the car and install 18 inch cobra wheels; it made the car handled a lot better, plus gave it more the racecar look. I think Ford made a hit with the retro looks and the larger track. I'm overall very happy with it and think anyone thinking on getting a sporty new car should go test drive the Mustang. The car will sell itself.

Until this latest generation of Mustang, I have not liked any of the designs since 1970. I opted for the V6 Premium with Pony Package. I have a long commute and gas mileage was a concern. The 5 speed manual transmission gives the V-6 plenty of power. Only issues I have had were poor adhesive on the Pony side stripe and a hose for the emissions equipment came loose. Dealer took care of both of these under warranty. So many aftermarket parts are available to give the Mustang its own personality.

All my life I wanted a Mustang, and I'm glad I waited till now to buy it. The mix of the old body style, in and out sold me on this model. Handles like a sports car should, road hugging smooth that pulls threw any curve. Power is more than enough, there may be faster, but I don't see people breaking their necks to look at the grandma styled competitors. Going top down is an experience everyone should have. From 6 to 6o year olds, I've had them all point and compliments abound.

I traded in my 03 GT for this one. Man let me tell you something, good call! It's black, fast, manual tranny, 18 inch rims stock. The cockpit is truly a thing of beauty. The old late 60's look is a real head turner. I get looks and comments all the time, from the young and old. This car blows my 03 GT out of the water. The power throws you back into the seat!

WOW! What a GREAT looking CAR. Inside AND out! Too bad looks aren't everything. Worst quality control I've seen in years. After 3600 miles this car has had a noisy rear end, exhaust vibration, front suspension noises, and three rattles in the dash! It also takes dealers more that one trip to fix. Huge disappointment overall.

I've had my beautiful tungsten grey Mustang for around 8 months now. In that time I have driven it around 15,000 miles and I have enjoyed the ride. This is a great car to travel in and I'm always getting compliments from other people. The car drives really well, with good acceleration and power for passing on the highway. While I love the outside look of the car, there is one issue with the interior which bugs the heck out of me...the dashboard. It creaks, moans, and it seems like it was never really put in the car correctly...or perhaps, cheap materials? I have told my Ford Dealership about the problem and they just act like, "no big deal." Anyways, that aside this is a fun ride!

I bought this brand spanking new 06' Mustang GT Premium this past March. Initially, I was impressed with the power and acceleration of the 4.6L V8; however, there was much to be desired from the transmission as shifting became tedious and clunky, with a stiff clutch, in this 5-speed manual. Shifting was anything but smooth as you had to literally force the shifter into each gear with overwhelming effort. This became a nightmare in traffic and city driving. Do yourself a favor, if you want a true quick and nimble sports car with butter-smooth shifting, get yourself an import.

On a warm summer day, top down, music blasting, yet you can still hear the rumble of the V-8 engine. When you put your foot into the throttle it jumps like a thoroughbred race horse. There's nothing like cruising with the top down.

For what is really an inexpensive car, I have had more fun driving daily than any other vehicle I have ever owned. The level of performance that is available right off the showroom floor for $30k cannot even be contemplated by any other car. Throw in the fact that Ford understands and embraces the aftermarket phenomenon for Mustangs, and that the car is built for add-ons, and it can be a fun hobby. Spend an extra $10k in upgrades and you have a car that challenges Porches, and blows away Corvettes. Great job on this one Ford, now work on the rest of your line.

A few fit and finish issues keep it from scoring higher with me, but I love it so much, I'm going to get another. A Grabber Orange convertible will be added to our stable of Fords very soon. I've always wanted a retro style Mustang and now that I've got it, I couldn't be happier. Excellent handling and enough power in the V6 that you don't need to drop the extra for the V8. Seat belts are tight, but that adds to the sports car/power feel. I have people stop me almost every day to compliment my car. Wouldn't have gotten it without the Pony package. Just adds exactly what is needed to make this one incredible machine!

My 06' GT is Redfire/Black interior and 18" polished aluminum Bullets. This is my 5th Mustang since 1982 and by far it out performs all the others. To date, I have 8500 problem free miles on this pony. I added the Homelink rear view mirror, trunk cargo divider, window tint, nad XM radio. I consistently average 19 MPG city (without A/C) and up to 26 MPG level highway at 70 MPH. This is a "creature-comfort" Mustang...unlike the past Mustangs. The looks and questions I get in parking lots and traffic? Constant! Interesting note - night driving with fogs on attracts oncoming high beam flashers. All-in-all, if you're thinking of buying one? Do it! BOLD MOVES...YEAH!

I love everything about the car, for the money it can't be beat, and I've always been a Chevy guy! (3 Z/28's). The engine has a sweet note above 3000 rpm and pulls solid to 6000. The most surprising thing has been the great gas mileage, it's much better than I expected. I think that there is tons of room for simple, effective performance gains and in a few years 400-500 HP S197's will be everywhere, Shelbys not withstanding,

Having grown up with the Mustang, I fell in love again with this one. Of course I wanted certain things and when my husband called me to say my car was on the lot, I was in heaven. I told him to get a salesman to slap a sold sticker on it, I was getting a check. Pony package a must and of course it had to have a stick. No fun driving a pony unless I can control it. It's a V6 4.0, and moves. Gas mileage is good. Can't believe I've had it a year already. No, it's not a mid-life crisis, just the car I've always dreamed about, that I finally have. Would recommend this car to anyone.

Pros: Very fast, I have the 5-speed auto and love the way it keeps up the RPM through the gear, especially the first three. It handles great and a blast to drive. Cons: Had to have the trunk lid repainted. Has a clunking in the front end at low speed on bumpy roads. Has a very prominent vibration at approximately 1200 RPM. Dealership said front end is OK and the vibration is resonation from the exhaust. I have my doubts.

Great fun car. Vastly improved handling over the 03 I test drove a few years back. Power and sound is good. This is my first Mustang and I have enjoyed it. I am 60 years and have owned Corvettes in the past. This car compares favorably for a lot less money. I wish I had deleted the spoiler as it interfears with visibility. I would rate the gas mileage as very good for a car with this kind of power. I am getting better than 18 MPG in stop and go traffic. I have the 18" wheels and believe that ride quality would be improved with the 17 's. Overall I like the car very much.

My mother has a 6 banger '04. My '06 pony package is far superior in every category (not taking into account fuel). Yeah, I have a lead foot. With a GT I would be in jail as speeding is way too easy with the Pony. The handling is nice for such a heavy car but for the money you can't beat it. Be ready for some road noise, but get the Shaker sound system and you'll never notice it. I've only put 5000 miles on it but haven't had a single problem other than the frequent compliments.

This V6 is surprisingly fast. I am sorry it's not the GT but price was prohibitive. Mainly use this on weekends when top down driving is the most fun. I like the fact that the V6 exhaust has a pleasant sound although I'm told switching to the right side GT muffler will improve the sound. Won't sound like a V8 but a more throaty sound none the less. I'm considering it but my selling dealer says a different muffler could void the engine warranty. I don't buy that but I'm afraid to take the chance. Maybe after the warranty expires.

I couldn't be more satisfied with this car at this time. The handling is very responsive, and plenty of power for what I needed. Mileage has been pretty good as well. The car drives like a big heavy American car. Nostalgia like a Mom's car but is hot and sharp at the same time. I have owned many Mustangs from a 66GT, 85GT, 93LX, 99GT and a 91 GT that I traded on this car. This is far and away a better designed and assembled car. The automatic transmission in this car is the best shifting overdrive Ford transmission yet. It accelerates and shifts very fast for a stock car yet is smooth when driving normally. The power top is quiet and goes up and down quickly. The controls are laid out well and everything is within the drivers reach. The stereo is the Shaker and sounds okay (speaker placement is difficult in a convertible) but could be improved with the upgrade to the 1000. The fit and finish is the best I've seen from Ford. No matter where you go people stare.

From the living room came a call from Heather, my 16 year-old daughter, "Dad, mom needs you in the driveway!” Being a dad I thought something was wrong with Kerri Ann, my 21 year-old, whom my wife said she was at the mall with. Kerri rounds the corner driving my wife's 2003 PT Cruiser. Now confused, I asked, "Where in the world is your mom?" Then the sound...the low murmur of a V6 engine with a beautifully tuned exhaust caught. Then, from around the corner, I caught the sparkle of Vista Blue paint on the unmistakable nose of a Mustang, with the 1967 GTA inspired grillwork. It was my wife behind the wheel of a new 2006 Mustang with Pony Package! Red bow and all. Life is Good!

We have owned a lot of cars in 53 years of marriage. Our first was a 1947 Ford. We decided to get a "fun car" as we had not bought a car since 1990. We went to buy a Ford truck and ended up with a 2006 Mustang Pony, Premium package, black. This is the best ever. The ride is extremely quiet, no outside road noise. You can turn the radio way up and stand outside the car and you can't hear anything. It's well made, love the traction on turning and it's just a beautiful automobile. We love this car!

No doubt about it, the car is fun to drive. The car looks great, everywhere I go I get people just walking up to me and telling me what a great car I have. If you are thinking about buying the Mustang, spend the extra $10,000 and get the Roush - it's worth every penny and makes the car stand out from the rest.

After reading the raves here and on some other sites, I sprung for this vehicle without even a test drive. Boy! That was a mistake! Now I'm stuck with it until I can save up for another vehicle. In a nutshell: Interior noise off-the-chart. Weird "What gear am I in?" transmission...the list could go on, but I don't have enough room.

It was time for my wife to get a new car. She selected the V6 Mustang. It has been a good choice! We were looking at the GT, but it only gets about 17 mpg around town (real world, I work with someone who has one) and the insurance was a bit high. Our Mustang is getting 21 mpg around town, which isn't too bad for a car this size. We have the pony package, so this car has TCS, anti-lock brakes, 17" wheels and GT suspension. Well worth the money. On the open road it rides quite well and has plenty of passing power. I plan on putting a cold air induction system and a Banks free flow exhaust on the car, should bump the HP up to 245. That will be plenty of juice!

Opted for 5 speed and 18" polished Bullitt style wheels. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Looks good and has enough oomph to get you in trouble. Almost couldn't keep the car 'cause I didn't tell the wife about it. I have a bad habit of trading cars in every year! This is my 3rd Mustang and it keeps getting better and better. Will keep this one for at least the life of the loan. Previous ones I had were model year 2000 and 2002. I'm a fan of American muscle cars, old and new. This has high "bang for the buck" factor!

Big bang for the buck. Roomy enough for two and space for luggage. Great styling inside and out. Constantly get positive comments on redfire color and 20" wheels and tires. Great handling and breaking. Acceleration is great and lays rubber on command. Great rumble from dual exhausts--may upgrade to Ford racing exhaust. Worth every penny of $31,000 price tag!

I was so grateful that I had a tough built Mustang. It really holds up. And always take your Mustang to the Ford dealer for body repairs. I had to learn the hard way.

Check my first review on 6/8/06 after a week of ownership. Now I've had my Tungsten Gray GT Premium/5 speed around 6 weeks and almost 2K on the odometer. Wow! I use the car as my daily driver (mixed commute) and I'm averaging 22.5 mpg. The car has really settled in and the shifting is smoother now. I can still say that I get a smile on my face every time I fire her up plus I have gotten a lot of people to stop me just to talk about it...everyone loves it! I'm still in shock that the car is so comfortable/economical for a V8 muscle car. Ford has really come a long way from my '67 Fastback 289 cu.in. in the areas of quality, driveability and safety...not to mention "out of the box" performance.

At 57 years old I have had a lot of cars. But this is the first one in a long time, that every time I get in I smile. It is a blast to drive. I feel like I am a kid again. It holds the road like it's on tracks and the V-6 has plenty of go. The interior, for a small car, fits like a glove. No matter where I go I get nothing but stares.

I knew Ford had a winner when I saw the wonderful concept car. With slick retro styling and more power, I was sure I would love the car. I really like both interior and exterior styling and the car is very comfortable, even with the stiff(ish) suspension tuning. The car handles pretty well for the money too. I am a bit disappointed with the lack-luster acceleration. I'm not looking for high-end V8 numbers here, but I don't feel even a slight surge when flooring the accelerator-even when downshifting first. It seems to accelerate the same whether the pedal is at half-way or pinned to the floor. Most of us don't drag race these things, but a little more power would be appreciated.

I finally got the car I always wanted and couldn't be happier. This car turns heads wherever it goes and never fails to excite. It is a great daily driver but when you push the go pedal it pushes you back into your seat above 4 grand in a very nice continuous power band up till about 5000rpm before redline; even at 6000 ft in Colorado this car pulls nicely. The $4000 buck premium for the convertible is well worth it - the very well made rag top goes up and down fairly quickly and when up holds out the road noise pretty nicely. I highly recommend this vehicle for people that want a whole heck of a lot of fun for a very reasonable price.

The 2006 Mustang must have been built with cost the most important item. It has no under hood light, foot well lights or daytime running lamps. Small items to be sure but should not add to the total cost. The five speed transmission does not shift smoothly. Was told by the dealership that nothing could be done.

I'm having the time of my life! After years of minivans & sedans, my wife decided I needed a "fun" car. I've wanted a Mustang since drooling over the 67's as a kid. This has all the style of that vintage, with the benefit of some 21st century engineering. The V6 has plenty of get up and go for my needs. I enjoy the modestly "throaty" sound, especially on startup. The leather interior and Shaker 500 sound system just add to the fun. While I would like to get even better gas mileage, it's hard to complain about 20 mpg (my average so far) given the power available. No more "lugging" up hills!

We had the best experience a couple could have buying a new vehicle. I canÂ’t say enough about how this car looks, runs; what a special prize at the right price. The color vista blue is an eye catcher - everyone comments on it. They ask what year it is because of the older style. Good choice! V6 with power but with great gas mileage. 18 in town.

Black, tan interior, tan top, 5 speed. I am very surprised & delighted at the good quality throughout. Fast, handles & looks great. I never thought a car could make you more popular but this car has. It drives great, The top is very easy to manage, the pickup and speed are great. This is truly a great Mustang. If you can go for the convertible, and V8. My wife and children used to say I was starting to drive like an old man. They can't believe how I've morphed into a speed fanatic. I would buy it again it I had it to do over. So far no mechanical problems or bugs to work out. Thats about it.

Less than 500 miles on my Legend Lime GT and lovin every minute of it. The sound of the engine when you start it and when you open it up can't be beat. This car is every bit as fun to drive and powerful as my 1996 LT4 and the styling, both exterior and interior, puts that car to shame. My eight year old fits in the back seat just fine, but I wouldn't put any adults back there. I get positive comments every time I drive it. Ive had quite a few cars since 1980, but nothing even close to this much fun. ONLY dislikes are the seats need readjusting every time kids get in/out, most of them have fuel fill issues sooner or later - mine hasn't burped gas on me since the second fill up though, and it's hard to powershift into third- it will bark'em though if you get it right. :) Ride is firm, but don't beat you up like my 85 Camaro used to, power is excellent for such a small V8, brakes are incredible. Give the exhaust note a "A+" too. Drive by wire can be quirky, but recalibrating just requires turning key on, waiting for lights to go out, floor it, release, shutoff key. Test drive a GT stick - dare ya not to buy it.

I have been looking at a convertible (mid life thing) for a long time. For the price, style and fun-to-drive, the Mustang was the one. Metallic red, parchment top, parchment leather seats. I wanted a GT, but the loaded pony/premium with 500 watt stereo with the v6 was great-especially since a GT this loaded was many thousands more, and beyond my budget. I love this car and have rarely put the top up in the almost 3 weeks I have owned it. Funny how the CD's sound so much better! How does one go through life without driving a convertible? Having had classic cars in the past, I wanted something that would last, and have excellent parts AND service availably wherever I want to travel.

I have already upgraded my suspension from Ford Racing and plan to upgrade the exhaust and put on headers next. Next year the supercharger goes in. It won't quite be a 500 with a 4.6 vs the 5.4, but the Miller Track in Utah is sure going to be fun. I would recommend this car to anyone that likes a little muscle.

While I just bought this Mustang it is certainly not my first. However this is the first to capture the look at feel of the first generation Mustangs. My 2006 brings back the fun and excitement I remember having when driving my 67 stang during my high school days. I actually look forward to driving to work. The car handles well and even though it is just a V6, it has plenty of power. The styling is great. The interior reminds be a lot of my old 67. I only have two complaints. First the passenger seat is too low. Second it is hard to see the end of the hood but then it was on the 67 as well.

Ford did a great job with the style of this Mustang, however mine is in the shop for a new engine due to number 7 cylinder. Also, you will notice a piece of tape covering a hole in the firewall under the brake booster. I have contacted Ford about this but never got a reply. Once this tape dry rots and falls off, water and air will be able to come in to the interior. From what I have seen, they all have the tape covering this hole...so beware. Other then these problems, I love the car. Ford: pay attention and answer your emails and phone request for answers please.

This car not only fills my need for the retro styling (outside and in) but also gives me the modern conveniences and safety of a 2006 model. Sitting behind the wheel and turning the key puts a smile on my face every time. Cruising in this car is exciting and comfortable. The seating position is confidence inspiring since you have all controls at your fingertips. Since I'm still under 1000 miles, I have yet to rev it up past 3000 RPM. I am 37 and have never owned anything but GM cars or trucks. I have always bought REAR-wheel drive automobiles and the 2006 Ford Mustang was the best bang for the buck. I purchased the V-6 (my first - always have owned v-8's) due to the rising fuel costs. The Mustang handles well and accelerates nearly as well as my '95 Formula Firebird. Ford really did their homework well in putting together a car that captures what sports cars should look and handle like. GM - you better wake up and get the Camaro back out before you lose all your sports car followers. Let's face it, the Corvette is just too highly priced. Long live the Mustang.

Best Mustang ever. I love the styling even better than the Shelby GT500. Handling, ride and acceleration is outstanding. Interior is easy to maintain, comfortable and fits the character of the car. It avoids the "Tokyo by Night" over abundance of electronic doo-dads that distract from a true driver's car.

The 2006 V6 model Mustang is a definite improvement over the aging 1999-2004 models. With 210 flywheel HP, there is a noticeable and noteworthy acceleration with this car. However, do not expect to get anything close to V8 performance. It is reasonable, and will help keep insurance cost, and gas cost (compared to a V8) down. The fuel economy on this vehicle suffers when caught in stop and go traffic. I have averaged roughly 14-19 MPG, while on the freeway 23-26 MPG. For a V6 engine, the gas mileage is a slight disappointment, though I can be blamed for wanting to stomp the acceleration for the pure joy of it. Exterior design is great, while interior design feels a little cheap.

I have my 1st car, a '68 Mercury Cougar XR-7 GT that I have owned for over 30 years, Black, dual quads, Cragars, Goodrich TA's, all the usual suspects. It turns heads every where I go but, as for driveability it gets a D-. The only thing keeping from getting an F is it does go straight really well. Now I have my Mustang GT (also black) and it turns heads equal to the Cougar but now I can actually take a corner at speed without fear of sliding into the road shoulder, Oh, it also goes straight really well! You can imagine my dilemma when the sun does make its rare appearances (I live in Oregon) on which car to drive. People tell me all the time "Saw you in your car today and you're still smiling."

I picked this car in October of 05 after waiting 4.5 months for delivery. It was worth the wait. Ford hit not just a home run but a grand slam. Exceptionally powerful and comfortable cruiser. The world seems a better place when you are cruising in this future collectible with the top down. All of 65-69 Mustang styling cues in one package!

Always wanted a little pony, and what I got was one with a lot of power and a pretty smooth ride for a sports car. It is the most fun to drive and it is definitely a head turner with its top down. I have had more compliments on this car than i had during my 35 years of driving! I've had the car about a month now and I find it very comfortable inside and easy to drive. The stereo is super. I love the idea of the changing interior colors on the dash as well as the other features you would expect in a luxury car. The exterior is awesome. I have yet to take it on a long trip to see the gas mileage highway driving. I recommend this car to anyone looking for a sports car.

I bought my 2006 mistake this month (04 - 2006), and really thought I was getting a good car, but every time I shift, it shudders and clunks as if the drivetrain is going to fall off the car. I took it in on 04-26-06 to have it checked out. They came back and said they called Ford's hot line and Ford told them to drive another Mustang with a 5 speed and see if it does the same thing Well it did, so Ford said that it is normal then, that they won't fix it because all the other v6 5 speeds make the same clunks on them, and if they get a lot of complaints on that, then they will research on that problem! Stay away from the V-6 5 speed.

It has that old car feel to it. Drives like one too, only smoother. The stylish interior is so close to the old 67 that it just makes me want to sigh every time I step into it. I got the Tungsten Grey with the Charcoal leather interior. The Shaker500 stereo system and the Pony package just put icing on the cake. I recommend everyone to go out and test drive one of these beauties. DO IT!

While vacationing in South Beach (Miami), my wife and I rented a convertible. We liked it so much we decided to buy one. But let me tell you this Mustang GT is no ordinary convertible! This car is much faster and handles better that advertised. The interior in our opinion isn't too shabby either! We really like the retro styling. It is quite similar to the Mustangs of the 60's and 70's. That is where the similarities end. The ride is unbelievable for a car this price. The interior is so quiet for a convertible And we haven't been able to detect any cowl shake. With the tires provided (Pirelli Zero Neros) you have to go out of your way to make this thing slide even a little. A very nice car!

We recently purchased a 2006 Mustang Coupe and instantly fell in love with it. Mustangs have been my favorite car since I first rode in one when I was a kid, so owning one now is incredible. The new body style is gorgeous and the ride is unbelievable. It handles like a dream and is very responsive. We bought a 5 speed manual so that makes it even that much more fun to drive. I mean come on...it's just wrong to drive an automatic Mustang...takes the fun right out of it! I love this car and Ford did a great job redesigning it!

Ford has a winner. It brings back memories of my first car, a 65 Mustang. This is by far the greatest car I have owned. The ride is far better than I expected, very comfortable and no fatigue. It's a thrill to drive. My commute to work is a blast. The gas mileage is acceptable for a V-8. I'm averaging 23.5 mpg and that's not babying the car either. The 5 speed manual transmission is smooth with a lot of torque. Really sets you back in the seat. The car loves to go fast, its performance is awesome. I get compliments all the time about the styling of this car. All in all it is a great ride, fun to drive, great performance and a real head turner to boot. Awesome Stang.

We never thought we'd love a car the way we do! Our 2006 is a dream to drive. The V6 is more than enough horsepower under the hood. She zips around just fine and hugs a corner like like a cozy cup hugs a beer! DAILY we get compliments on her. I wish we had a quarter for every one we've received. The only negative is the gas mileage. However, we believe it might have a lot to do with the WAY we drive it too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Got this car in April 2006 and it's everything you could ask for. It has a 300 horse engine; buy a blower and will increase horsepower up to 456 if you wanted to. No lag on throttle and awesome radio; door panels can't take it with all the bass this car gives out. Everything you could ask for is right here. Car companies like GM and Chrysler have been making cars to go against a Mustang GT, but they have all been left in the dust. 0-60 in just 5 seconds is well worth it.

My 06 GT 5 speed transmission AND rear end clunk so bad, I hate to drive this car! I'm a retired dealership auto technician, and cannot believe I cannot find other complaints on this particular problem. Yes, IÂ’m very coordinated when shifting, but itÂ’s impossible to even drive this car w/out this annoying issue. It makes me hate the car. When downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, it acts as if the clutch isn't completely disengaging ... the transmission don't grind, but it makes an awful noise. IÂ’ve never banged a gear, or been to the drag strip. IÂ’d be afraid the driveshaft would come through the floor! Very dissatisfied customer. This is my 4th Stang since 1994.

Have had this car for 2 months and every day I like it more. The retro styling won me over the first time I saw one. 6 cylinder 5 speed fun to drive - wish gas mileage was better but that's mostly my fault. I just purchased my new 06 convertible Mustang. All black! This car is amazing. Drives like sports car and the same time feels like you are driving an old Cadillac. I was considering getting the V6, but after driving the V8 with manual transmission, I was convinced that the V8 was my answer for my new toy! (hands down). If you're thinking about getting this car as an extra car for fun driving then I would recommend the manual V8. If you enjoy music and have an extra few dollars then get the Shaker1000.

Shaker 500 sound system sounds great. Gas mileage - about 20 mpg around town - is satisfactory. I've had Camaros, Trans-Ams, a Corvette, and Mustangs, and this is my favorite so far.

Quick -- hard to keep tires from braking loose -- holds the curves well -- see people looking at the car as I drive down the street -- got 19 miles per gallon on first tank -- cruises smoothly in fifth gear and accelerates well in fifth -- fourth gear runs well all the way down to about thirty mph -- good sounding exhaust -- a little more growling from the exhaust would give the car more appeal. I even told the wife we need to move further from my work so I can drive it more. I am still getting the occasional "Nice Mustang" when I park it near people. I test drove many other sport convertibles, but liked the ride of the Mustang best. I would have picked the Honda 2000, but it is so tiny, you better be 135 lbs and 5'5". The Nissan 350Z was nice, but you feel every bump in the road. This car is great except the quality of the interior for the price. I had an F150 Lariat, and the interior quality was far better equal price. The leather seats are very nice, but at 5'10" I find my knee resting against the center console. The stereo is outstanding for a factory unit, but I could tell no difference in the quality between the Shaker 500 and the 1000 even though the 1000 comes with a sub in the trunk.

I've had my 2006 Mustang V6 for a full month now, and all I can say is WOW! I was surprised at how "throaty" the engine is when revved. Not quite the sound of a V8 but impressive for a V6. Pick-up is very "spirited", a word that I've seen used in a few magazine reviews to describe the Mustang and I must agree. This was a great buy, I'm very happy with my Pony!

I just bought a new Southern California Special (V6, Pony Package, Interior Upgrade, LeMans stripping, Chrome Exhaust tip & side tape delete). The exterior design is what I fell in love with and the Pony Package and LeMans stripping finish it off perfectly. I drove both a V6 & V8 automatic ... the V8 was absolutely fabulous, but I just couldn't justify the $4k extra. The V6 is completely satisfying. So far the interior is growing on me. I'm very happy I got the charcoal interior and leather seats; it greatly increases the 'class' of the vehicle. The build quality is overall pretty good, I'm happily surprised. Reliability will have to wait.

I've only put 700 miles on this car since December '05, as it's winter in WI, but thus far, it's been fun! I was impressed that it will move on SNOW, as my '96 Mustang GT would not. Ford did a good job adding traction control. The plastic interior could have been dressed up better even though I do have the interior upgrade; without it, would be boring. Punching the accelerator, it moves from 0 to 60 in a heartbeat. Have auto transmission; it seems to shift very quickly through the gears. Am keeping an eye on the 500 Shaker as the CD player is already starting to skip. Like the leather seating, but they could have went a bit richer with the leather. At $28,000 getting a hot head turning car, it's great!

I have had my Red Fire 2006 V6, 5 speed coupe for a month now. The more I drive it the happier I am I bought it. Having come from ownership of smaller Japanese economy oriented vehicles in the recent past this car was a dramatic change for me. I owned both a '69 and '70 Mustang in the somewhat distant past. My '06 is all that those cars were and so much more! The performance from the 4.0 lt. V6 is impressive. It is deceptively fast and has a very V8 feel and sound to it. The car's handling is very planted, responsive and predictable. I did a 200 + mile fun trip in the twisty mountain roads to the west of here and had a grin on my face the whole time.

I am an advid reader of all of the driving magazines and such and had to think very hard on whether this (being my 4th stang) was in fact the vehicle of choice. I see that the Japanese manufacturing is just almost unbeatable. Every time that I would research cars in this price range the Japanese had it, but this one! So with that in mind I went to the dealership to put it to the test and see first hand myself. From the V8 4.6 300 horspowered engine to the sleek and retro-60's styling, this is truly as car that shouts "They finally built one right." You wont be disappointed with this one I am sure of this. But why does Ford only have a 3/36 warranty on this car. They can certainly up that ante, right

I just bought a 2006 Mustang on 2/4/06. I have been sitting in it since then! The car is a joy to drive. Ford did an incredible job with the engine. With a total of 210 horsepower, this baby can move. One of my favorite parts about this car is the sound of the engine; Ford gave it a very "Sporty" sound! The exterior is just as sexy as the Mustangs from the 60's. However once you get inside this baby, you will be amazed at what you get for the money. The gauges have the ability to change to up to 125 different color combinations and has a very "Retro" look. Best of luck on your next car! I hope you pick my new favorite ... the legend...the 2006 Mustang.

I wanted a Mustang GT when they hit the lots back in 2005. I waited so long I could not order a 2005; they had closed the order banks. I ordered my 2006 GT in November of 2005 and took delivery a week ago today and have never looked back! This car rocks! The ride quality, the design, interior and exterior is simply put, awesome!. I want to drive this car everywhere.

For the price paid I couldn't find anything as much fun on the market. The only thing that surprised me at first was the acceleration with the V6 and 5 speed. I thought it would feel faster and I started to be disappointed until I looked at the speedo and saw how fast I was going. This is going to take getting used to if I want to obey speed limits.

You've got to love this car!

The Mustang GT is a great car at a great price. It looks and SOUNDS great. Although the interior is a bit sparse and lacks high-end features, the build quality is the best I have seen in an American car in the past 15 years. I have a long commute to work and I look forward to getting in to this car every day. ItÂ’s just plain FUN to drive. People approach me in parking lots and gas stations all the time to tell me how great the Mustang looks and sounds, itÂ’s pretty cool. :-)

This my fourth Mustang in 5 years. I just traded in my 2005 for a 2006. These new models ride better, are quieter, and look like a Mustang should. I get stares and compliments all the time. The engine is strong especially in third and fourth gears in the higher rpm range. The car handles well with the almost 50/50 weight distribution. The only problem I have had is with rattles. My 2005 was in the shop three times for this problem. My 2006 has a small rattle. Even so I would still highly recommend the new GT to anyone.

Probably the best Mustang ever built.

Not everyone remembers the early Mustangs, but I do. Although they were a groundbreaking design, automotive technology has progressed to a point unimaginable in 1967. This Mustang takes advantage of everything known about how to build a great car and puts it all together in a retro package that is a work of styling art. The designers took the best styling cues from the 1960's models and added a touch of modern style to make a beautiful machine that performs better than the originals ever could. Even the gas sipping V6 models outperform the 289 V8 models of the 1960's, especially in regards to handling and braking.

I love to drive it and look for excuses to go places. I bought an 06 GT 5-speed, Tungsten Grey w/ 18" polished wheels (and all other options) on 1 Jan '06. I got a great deal by buying a car on the lot and got it below invoice. Mine came with the Shaker 1000 radio. It wasn't a feature I really wanted and was the first thing I negotiated off the price. I was concerned the extra sub woofers wouldn't allow the golf clubs to fit in the trunk. I shouldn't have worried. The clubs still fit! I get compliments on the car all the time. I love it when the Camaros come up next to me at a light. The sound of the exhaust is awesome! Great car for the price! It handles and looks great.

Took delivery in early January and due to the seasonal weather conditions had to wait 3 weeks to drop the top. I have had limited opportunity to really go through this vehicle but, as is, it runs like a scalded pup. The suspension and handling exceed expectations. All of the amenities that came with this car are substantial. As the aftermarket for the Mustang is so vast, I'm looking forward to shopping for any "personal touch" items that I might add to this light blue pony. At age 55, the only thing I might consider right away would be installing a defibrillator -- oh yeah, it's that much fun to drive. Tops down, everybody!

My top was torn on delivery; it is having its 3rd new top installed (the installer messed up). Most of the miles to date are going back and forth to the dealer. The interior styling is kind of stone-age, but it looks nice from the outside. Gas mileage isn't as good as I hoped. (21-22 mpg) Suggestion: Wait for the Camaro.

Driving the Fastback is an experience like no other. I love it! We now have 2500 miles on the car and IÂ’ve never enjoyed a car more. Mine is black with red and black interior. We have the fancy dash you get with the leather interior. I've had the windows tinted black and the cops follow me to the grocery store. Are they surprised when a grey haired lady steps out. I've had Mustangs before, but they were '64's, '65's and '66's. The gas mileage is better then we had expected, although it really didn't matter to us at the time we ordered it in June, '05 I would tell anyone thinking about buying a stang, that they better do it fast, so as not to waste time. Love it, love it, love it!

We've owned our GT Premium Coupe now for about six weeks and have accumulated only about 500 miles so far as the roads here in Germany have been pretty slick due to the winter weather that is typical this time of the year. My wife and I have had plenty of fun on the weekends driving our "toy" around on the German Autobahn where speed limits are fairly uncommon and wide open throttle is "common". Well I can say that so far our '06 "Stang" has NOT let us down yet. Besides having to replace the fuel tank since the fuel nozzle cut off every milli-second at the 1/2 tank mark, we have had absolutely no problems so far. This car is truly a "best buy"; we highly recommend!

I has the 5 speed manual transmission which is smooth shifting and a short throw. It accelerates like none other! I also have the interior upgrade package with the red leather which looks incredible. This is a fantastic car! The retro design is what caught my attention when I first saw one on the road in January 2005. I'm 43 years old and can remember the Mustang's of the late 60's and early 70's where the new 2005/06 gets its design from. I got the 4.6L V8 deluxe with automatic transmission and I get about 20mpg overall which is not bad for a V8. The seats are firm but very comfortable. I've taken one trip so far that was 4 hours long and I didn't feel worn out or tired at all at my destination. The car is also very well balanced and feels as though it's "glued" to the road at higher speeds and there was no vibration in the steering wheel.

You can't get more bang for your buck. And if you don't drive like a madman, you can get decent gas mileage (I'm currently averaging 20.6 mpg - city and highway). Ford, you hit this one outta the park!

Excellent vehicle. This has truly brought some joy back into commutes. Fun to drive coupled with great gas mileage. 1200 miles in 2 weeks and still having a great time. Smooth manual transmission allows a more sporty feel. Exhaust system could use some deepening, and a low frequency rumble has been noted at the 70 mph marker but not above it. This is a vehicle to watch your acceleration on, before you know it you are doing 60 to 70 all the time. Good Luck and enjoy this corner hugging pony.

I went with the V6 instead of the V8. Glad I did. It's plenty zippy, I'm at 40mph before I know it. After 3 days everything feels solid and no rattles or squeaks. Definitely get the Pony Package. Drives very well. I test drove both the manual and automatic. I went with auto only because I'm tired of shifting in traffic everyday. But manual definitely more fun and in my opinion the exhaust sounds more throaty. Maybe because you can really wind the gears more than the automatic.

This is the most fun car we have had in years; it is also the only car we have had that we get compliments on from strangers and waves from other Mustang owners. We also drive a newer Cadillac, but when it comes to fun the Mustang is tops. Ours has the pony package with the 17 inch wheels and fog light in the grill, quite a looker in vista blue with parchment leather. The finish on the car is much improved over the other cars we have had. Also the seats with the support for the back is great (once you get it adjusted to your liking). As far as the fuel mileage is concerned I was impressed with the mileage. So far as I have less than 1000 miles on it, this car makes me smile .

Just picked up a 2006 Mustang for my wife as a surprise Xmas gift! We both absolutely love the retro styling and redfire color. The Pony Package is a real bargain with the ABS brakes and traction control included not to mention the retro grill and fog lights. The redfire color combined with the optional (color matched) Rousch side window louver covers, pony cladding, and optional pony wheel spinners make this a real head turner. It drives great! We have owned a 65, 66, and a 67 Fastback and this 2006 reminds me so much of all those years combined. I've been waiting for Ford to get it right and return the Mustang to its glory. They finally did it! Good looks, great performance, and competitive cost.

With four children, a dog, and an SUV to haul us all, my wife and I needed a break from our chaotic daily routine. We decided to do something for ourselves, and bought our Redfire 2006 Mustang Coupe. Still, being the conservative middle aged parents we are, we opted for the V6, but don't let that fool you. The 210hp rear wheel sports car is like nothing I have ever seen. Not only can it run with the big dogs, it sounds the part as well. The design will take you back in time, but the performance is truly futuristic. I can honestly say, and my wife will back me up on this, this car truly brought a little FUN back into our lives. The hardest part now is getting her to let me drive.

I had no intentions of buying a Mustang. I stopped by the dealership to have work done on my Explorer brakes. While I was there a 2006 Roush Sport caught my eye. I took it for a spin and fell in love with it. I owned a 1990 Mustang GT and this new '06 is a much nicer car by far. I test drove the body style after the 1990 and hated it. It was smaller inside, no head room, but this new '06 is right on the nose with performance, handling, price and styling. While the car has a hint of retro stying, it is also modern in it's application. The Roush is only different in a few styling panels and in 18"X10" Rims. The ride and cornering are different from the stock GT as well.

My wife and I have had this car for 3 months and it is exactly what we wanted and expected. The 5-speed transmission is easy to operate and the horsepower is always just a pedal away. The car has nice balance and really hugs the road at speed. Tire spin and oversteer are not difficult to avoid, but reliable in their consistency with no nasty surprises if you're trying to slide around a bit. The only complaints I could make are the lack of a few creature comforts. A power passenger seat, heated seats, and climate control would be nice. But I understand that Ford left out a few frills to keep the price down. This car was designed to go fast and look good doing it. Mission accomplished.

I've been in love with the Mustang since I was 16 (and learned that you can't insure a 16 year old on a Mustang with my parents' income). Twenty years later, and I finally got my dream car. Redfire metallic, pony package, V6 because I still can't afford insurance on a GT. Since most of my cars have been 4 cylinders, I'm not missing any power. The price was surprisingly low. The car is kind of huge considering it's a SPORTS car, but I love it. It's heavy and has an excellent safety rating. It turns corners like it's on rails. It gets up to the speed limit way before any other car I've ever owned.

What a car! Start with the exterior. Our car is satin silver and she stands out from the crowd. We choose the 18 inch optional wheels and it is hard to walk by without taking a second look. The interior with the upgrade package is really sharp. Extremely comfortable seats and the driving position is perfect. The retro accents inside along with the modern quality and feel really make this car special. Then there is the engine. Lots of power with instant throttle response. I had the mindset of an aftermarket exhaust system before I bought her. Glad I didn't buy anything. This car rumbles and sounds mean! It has been a pleasure so far and cannot wait to get back in her.

Outstanding performance/style. Best value if into fast/good looking cars. Pros: Style, power, sound (engine and stereo), and cost. Cons: Five speed manual shifts smoothly, but has a harmonic rattle near the shifter. Maybe just a loose bolt. One minor rattle near driver's mirror area. Owned car 2 months/4200 miles. Stats: -MPG:22-23@65++ mph, 90% highway. City; maybe 19-20. -all available options included (except 1K speaker system). 500 watts more than enough. -All options work, no issues. -No mechanical/electrical problems at all. Summary: I flew Navy jets off carriers for years. I wanted something hot, fast, powerful and reliable. I chose very well. Happy with 23mpg. Recommendation: Buy one/have fun.

I am 58 years old and I recently purchased my first ever Ford Mustang. I built my GT on Ford Direct online with the exact options that I had to have. My local Ford dealer located my GT at another dealer with my options and we made a deal, below MSRP I might add. My absolute beauty is tungsten grey, black leather seats, 5 speed manual, 18" polished aluminum wheels, interior upgrade package with the anti-theft kit. My friends can't stop talking about how beautiful it is. Imagine, a 300 HP muscle car for under $30K. You will not find a better combination of style, power, handling & value anywhere. This GT reminds me of the '65 Fastback I dreamed of in high school but could not afford.

I bought this after owning a '88 LX 5.0. It is a larger/heavier car and isn't as agile as I would like. Engine/trans are smooth and interior is comfortable, especially seats. Handling/ride is so-so with outdated solid axle. Motor is smooth and quiet and not as torquey as 5.0 engine. Overall a good car, but doesn't give me an adrenalin shot like the old car did.

I bought my '06 just over a month ago and it is the most wonderful driving experience I have ever had. I originally ordered an '05, but had to wait for the '06 instead and I'm glad I did. The added standard features and the improved shade of the dark blue paint job are a big bonus. I also love how much of an eye catcher it is. I've gotten more compliments about it than any other car I've owned. It also handles like a dream and can flat out get it on the freeway.

I have not been disappointed. This Mustang is Fun to Drive. It has get up and go, corners beautifully, and isn't bad at the pumps. The sound system is superb and easy to use. If you desire a head turner this is your car. For comfort I have enjoyed every mile I've put on. It rides like a sports car and you will feel the bumps in the road but to me that is ok! This vehicle has my highest recommendation. Buy one and you will enjoy every minute in it

My first car was a 1967 Mustang and ever since then I've been waiting for one to exceed it -- I found it! This '06 is the best car I've ever owned. I've had two Lincoln's and a Cougar, but this GT just blows them out of the water. The design is great, features are basic and appropriate, and being a tall person (6'5") I have enough head room and leg room. Now, there's very little if no room in the back seat, but who cares? This car is all guts and glory; everything a Mustang should be. If you're looking for a touchy feely type of car, keep looking. If you care about gas mileage, this isn't the car for you. If you like speed and performance, BUY THIS CAR!

I absolutely love this car! Excellent performance with decent gas mileage. Ride is much smoother than I expected with the live real axle. The front seats are very comfortable, with lots of legroom for my 6'2" frame. Excellent sound from the engine and exhaust, both inside and out of the car. Draws lots of attention, especially with the opposite sex. The cupholders are in a stupid place; if you have something in them and you go to shift, you hit the cup with your elbow. And the steering wheel needs to be telescoping; with the seat moved back in a comfortable position, it's impossible to reach the top of the steering wheel unless you incline the seat back almost straight up and down.

Ford did an excellent job of combining the sound & power of the 70's muscle car with the technology of today. The retro style brings back memories of so many past Mustangs; it is amazing the different years people see in this car. The power is more than enough to pin you back in your seat. I was surprised most by how quiet the interior is while outside you can hear the rumble of the exhaust. Sometimes I just roll down the window to listen to the roar of the exhaust. DON'T BUY THIS CAR if you don't want to be noticed or like talking to strangers. No matter what age or where people stare and point at you as you drive pass or come up to you and start talking about the car.

I decided to buy my first convertible at the age if 46 and was aiming for the new Solstice. But due to non-availability and threat of paying $5-$10K over MSRP, I opted for the Mustang and went all out. First benefits were the lower cost and the ability to put my sons in the back seat for family drives in the rolling hills of Virginia. I picked up the car and was home before my family. When they arrived they could not believe I bought the car. We all jumped in for a quick trip with the top down. As we sped down the road I looked in the rearview mirror and all I could see were gigantic grins. My first car was a 67 Mustang and here I am again with a similar looking edition. Its great!

Having worked at the San Jose assembly (home of the original Mustang) plant in QC, I was very impressed with the build quality. The seams are uniform, excellent upholstery on the premium interior. A comfortable car for the driver; as a passenger in the rear seat (I don't go there). I have the 18" wheels, and the BFG T/A G force tires work well. 1st gear is a mite short, but 2nd pulls well, and acceleration is very good, rivaling a stock 438 SCJ Mustang without the tire burning theatrics. At 61, this is a way cool ride; my daughter keeps wanting to "borrow my car," no way. This is Dad's ride, sorry 'bout that!

Fell in love with this Mustang style when I first saw it last year. It is about time Ford got it right with the car. Has the speed I need, even though it is a 5 speed stick. Brakes great, handles very well. I can get my wife and the two kids in the car fairly easy. I don't think 4 grown adults would fit in it easily though. But this isn't a family car anyway, it's just for the kid in me. I'm glad I waited till the '06 model. Some of the safety things that didn't come standard in the '05, do in the '06. Like the ABS system and the traction control. Got the interior upgrade, and so glad I did. Everyone thinks it looks sharp, and I will have it my entire lifetime.

After 4 months of looking for an affordable, yet sporty and fun car to drive around I have returned to my youth with a Mustang. The retro styling clearly caught my eye, but this one is decades ahead (literally) of my '65 pony. This car has more power, more room and I think, better handling than the BMW 3 series, and the $10K in my pocket certainly makes up for any subtle differences. It feels good to be back in a "stang." Driving is fun again!!

I fell in love with this car at first sight. I had been casually looking for a convertible for about 3 years. When I first saw it on TV in January 2005, it stopped me dead in my tracks. I have always had a sweet spot for the old Mustang GT's, but knew it still had some bugs. What turned my head was the retro body style. What hooked me was how the car performed. After my first test drive I was blown away. The car felt very stable on the road and around sharp corners (really fun actually!) If you were to consider getting the Mustang GT the one thing I would absolutely insist on would be traction control. The GT still has a light rear-end (much better than 2004), traction control is a must!

I have the 5 speed manual in mine, it shifts as smooth as silk; when you want to pass someone whether it is on an interstate or a back road two lane road, the horses are there to do it with. The ride is pretty much what I expected -- a little on the firm side but not too bad. I am not getting the best gas mileage around town 14.5 - 16.0. I do tend to drive a little aggressive though. The back seat is a little difficult to get in, but everyone that has ridden in the back seat have said that it was very comfortable. I have the firemist red exterior with the grey leather interior, with the aluminum dash and have gotten a number of complements on the car. This is not my first but it is my best.

When I purchased this car the first thing that caught my eye was the body style. How they had gone back in time at least in my mind. It handles very well, the interior design I think needs just a little bit of work but not a lot. The trunk release is only on the key chain that I have found and would have rather them put another inside the car. All in all I love my new Mustang and I won't be getting rid of it for a long time.

Purchased 9/3/05. Sonic Blue/Black GT Premium Convertible w/auto, leather, IUP, upgrade rims, Shaker 1K, alarm. Convertible feels just as stable as coupe. Little to no body twist. That's why I opted for convertible vs coupe. Very quiet w/top up under most normal conditions. Low noise w/top down. Average MPG is 21.2 for the 1st 800 miles (90% city).

As a senior owner who bought and kept a disappointing Infiniti G35 Coupe for only two months, this Mustang is much more than I expected. Excellent, sporty ride, quiet (when you want it to be), and great handling. Very responsive powertrain and a bargain for less than $30k. Redfire metallic with parchment leather is a striking combination.

This is easily one of the best looking and best performing stock Mustang GT's Ford has ever made. The looks you get in this car, and the sound of one roaring by you is breathtaking. With a 0-60 in the 5.1 (manual) / 5.2 (automatic) ranges, it easily blows out most competition in its class and some out of its class. this car gives 80,000 Porsches a run for their money! My GT has been a pleasure; no problems so far and what I expected performance wise. The fit and finish is excellent and the retro look is a refreshing step back in time. Gas mileage is better than expected. I get 17 - 17.5 in stop and go city driving. I made one road trip of 660 miles and got 26.8 mpg at interstate speeds averaging 65 to 70 mph. Seating is very comfortable. Trunk space is surprisingly useful for a sporty subcompact (I do not have the Shaker 1000 which does eat up trunk space). The ride quality is very good on smooth flat surface; the expected bumps on broken surface. Acceleration is superb for a less than $30,000 automobile with a small V-8. Thumbs up to Ford.

We bought my '05 Mustang in Feb. 05. It was my husband's idea, I really didn't like the new style. But he convinced me to test drive one. I did, 3 times! lol. After searching for just the right one, I brought it home 2 weeks later. It's fun to drive, and looks great! It really turns people's heads! It handles like a race car not like a sports car. I can't keep my husband out of it and he has 2 cars of his own and a truck. He loves the sound of it. It has a V6, but on the inside sounds like a V8. It has plenty of power for a V6, way more than I need. 210HP! The older model V8's only had 190HP.

So far I have only 325 miles on the odometer and the car is still under the break-in period. There are few major changes from the '05 model. But my car has two: the new tungsten grey paint and the 18" wheels. Both are a wonderful addition. Overall, the car feels solid and rattle-free over bumps. The new 18" wheels and slightly adjusted suspension do a reasonable job of dealing with roadway ruts and potholes. The new grey paint is metallic and highly reflective. The exhaust note is worth the entire price of admission. The 5 speed manual is a joy to shift and is the best manual I've ever owned or used. Rear seat is fairly cramped, but I expected worse.
