I purchased this car new in 2006 when I needed to trade in my mustang that was not so affordable while in college. This was not my choice vehicle, but the decent power was an acceptable transition from the GT power I was used to indulging in. I pushed the oil changes beyond to ~5k mi but regularly went with a synthetic oil option. I did maintenance at 80k mi and have it inspected periodically. It now has 140k mi and the recent full inspection from the dealership reported all areas in the green, including belts and hoses. That's the good. Here's the bad. Shortly after purchase, one of the rear inner door handles completely broke. They're made of plastic that isn't so durable. I should have taken it for repair under warranty, but didn't. Then, at ~80k mi, the front control arms needed to be replaced. This was a bit expensive... on the order of $1800. It wasn't a safety concern, but they were noisy. It was due to the rubber in the ends of each arm, which breaks down so it sounded like rubber rubbing together whenever the wheels were turned. That was a bummer, but I suppose the bad could have been much worse. The headliner has started to fall at the rear recently, so that will need repair next. Other than that, I've only needed to replace the brakes - which lasted >100k mi and tires. Overall it's been a great, reliable vehicle for the past decade!

Just hit 200,000

Bought the SE V6 in new. The v6 runs great and still does for me but I also do regular maintenance myself and change the oil every 3k on the dot. Keeping 34psi in all tires is so important for gas mileage as well. These cars can't and aren't made to be dogged and that is why people have rough shifting. It's all what you put into the car I just hit 200k and still have no issues with power loss, rough shifting and average 23mpg.

I purchased my 2006 ford fusion about 5 years ago with 60,000 miles on it. The car got me there and back a few places in Michigan. The only thing I have replaced on my car is tires, breaking, window regulator and oil changes. My check engine light comes on but i never had any problems with the car. The shifting in the car when it takes off fast because not coming to a complete stop it jumps or when it is cold. I have noticed that the 1st gear RPMs go to about 4 or 5 before shifting to 2nd. I have one slow oil leak that i have been putting Pennzoil high mileage oil in it to keep the leak slow. I changed the transmission fluid and it still seems to run the same. With Michigan weather good tires would be good to have but it gets through snow alright with cheap tires. The door handles are cheap and break and peal. My mileage now on my car is 135,000 and it still brings me there and back to different places in Michigan. It is a very good car that doesn't need much maintenance besides oil changes, tires and breaks. Very good car.

This is the best car I've ever owned

I bought this car at 34,000 in 2009. At the time I was a service technician and had to use my own car. Before the end of the 2 year mark I had put over 100,000 miles on this thing. I live in Ohio and drove this car to the Carolinas and Virginia beach annually, including a 24 hour straight drive to Texas and 24 hours straight back 3 days later and never felt worried about making it home. My point is, I beat up my vehicles and this has been a beast. AC failed around the 140,000 mark (didn't bother fixing it), I replaced the thermostat and drive belt at 150,000, at 210,000 the radiator and transmission cooler lines were replaced, driver side window regulator at 215,000 and now at 217,000 the transmission valve body needs to be replaced so I'm reluctantly trading it in before I press my luck any further. I can't talk much about labor cost because I do most of my own work, but replacement part costs aren't terrible (except the valve body). And even with the age of the car its still averaging 27mpg! My biggest cons are the cheap plastic door handles and the radio display has bad soldering causing it to blank out. Basically very minor things. Ford bought my favor back from GM with this car.

We bought ours brand new in 2006, it was a demo vehicle so it already had 3,000 miles on it, it is now 2015 and our car only has 80,000 miles on it, just had its first tune up, THESE FUSIONS NEED A TUNE UP BEFORE 100,000 MILES OTHERWISE SERIOUS PROBLEMS MAY OCCUR, we had friends who learned that the hard way. this car is only the 4-cylinder model but it doesn't seem as slow as everyone makes it out to be, and its been unbelievably reliable, only needed regular maintenance and a sense that had to be replaced at about 50,000 miles. Perfect midsized car.

I bought the car used in 2009 with about 32K miles. It's been great mostly. But the transmission behavior leaves a lot to be desired. Normally, it shifts smoothly, but there are 3 quirks that drive me mad. Downshifting, it will slam violently into 1st gear at about 45 mph. Part-throttle acceleration - enough to cause a more than 1 gear downshift - the trans again slams in and out of 1st gear, causing a violent bucking. Not much fun trying to merge onto a freeway! A few times when the previous occurred, the trans just goes out of gear. Have to let it coast, shift either to Neutral or First gear, then it resumes normal driving. The electronic shift controller must be insane!

Eh.. it was okay.

We got this car used after our bankruptcy discharged. We aren't big fans of Ford but I must say it proved to be a very reliable car. We only owned it for 2 years but we never had any big issues. Cosmetically, little things fell apart like the paint on the shifter peeled off. Also the cd player ate cd's which I hear was a problem in a lot of Fords not just Fusion's. One of the interior back door locks stopped working one day as well and the dealer said it would be over $200 to fix so we just lived with it. For a mid sized car it delivered and did what it was supposed to do. It's not a sports car but if you want a point a to b and occasionally c, it's a decent buy.

Great car but...

Purchased used in 2006 with 1,200 miles on the OD. For the first three years car was brilliant. No problems, just routine maintenance, brakes, oil changes, ect. Ride was excellent and the seats are extremely comfortable and well trimmed. In 2010, we had a few problems with the engine, but was covered under an extended warranty. Service engine soon light would come off and on. Also problems with charging system. In 2013, the car reached around 96,000 miles and started to develop some transmission problems. Dealer inspected the car and would not be a cheap fix since the extended warranty had ended. Decided to trade the car in and avoid major repairs in the future.

1 month after I purchased my used Ford Fusion I had to replace the entire engine due to there being NO OIL in my engine...?? They couldn't find out where it's going or what is wrong with it. My warranty that I purchased covered the replacement with another used engine...I kept up with repairs and oil changes. 1.5yrs later it is devoid of oil AGAIN, and I am told I need another new engine...?? I'm done with the car, and have began seeking legal counsel since the Ford Dealership won't do anything for me. Suggestions about this situation is welcome!

I purchased car used, it look brand new inside out, after first day the transmission started to slip so dealership put in a new transmission, I got the car back after a week in the shop and drove the car for about a week and started smelling transmission fluid, so I look under car and noticed transmission fluid leaking and bottom of car covered in fluid, so car is going back to dealership for repairs once again and will let you know in about a week when I get the car back.

car had 6 oil leaks. couldn't find issue with the transmission, airbag light "fixed". got car back Tuesday, was back in this am because of tranny light on again and airbag light. airbag kit needs to be replaced, not covered by warranty, and dealer can't find the issue with the powertrain/transmission light. word to wise, do not by a first year make/model of any kind. so my car will continue to skip and buck until I can find the right mechanic I guess! good luck!

We bought this car 10 months ago after searching for 4 months for a car we liked and could afford. I read the reviews and saw the tranny flags go up!Take extended warranty. About 5-6 months ago I called the dealer to say our car was dry on oil.I won't even get into that dealership on here. Last week my car was bucking and shifting hard! Powertrain/transmission light came on and went off. Got it into dealership! 5 oil leaks! Needs a control arm as well. Thankful we took out the extended warranty because it now sits at shop with expensive repairs. Dealer says that's why it was bucking. Well we will see when I get it back.I am told by people oil leaks won't cause transmission to buck! we'll see

Bought this car at a public auction four months ago. Car was mint, inside and out, you could have eaten off the engine. Consumer reports labeled it a "good bet". Don't be fooled like I was by consumer reports. The car had 98,000 kms when I bought it. Blew the engine at 106,000 kms. Replaced the engine with a new one. I now have 111,000 kms. on the car and this new engine is going through oil the same as the first one did before it blew. If you have this vehicle, keep an eye on the dipstick. Update to may last post, titled "Blew the Engine", which was last night. Guess what, the second engine has blown. I'm gonna keep this short, STAY AWAY FROM THE FUSION. JUNK...Plain ans simple.

I do not even have 70k miles on my 2006 Fusion and my transmission went out as well. Drove fine unless you needed to get on the interstate or get into Overdrive gear - would then jolt, rpms up to 5 and 6 without accelerating one bit. Now I'm having to pay over $2400 to replace it. With as many reviews as I've read since this happened to me (more than I thought with this same issue!) this definitely needs to be a Recall from Ford or at least some kind of compensation when they are aware there is an issue with these models!! Before this happened I absolutely LOVED this car, now I am a little leary about the Fusion models in general.

I bought this car brand new and I loved it at first. The currently only has 63,000 and I can't even begin to describe the issues that I've had with it. I live in Florida and I tried to take precautionary measures to reduce the heat of the car by using a windshield shade, but it didn't help. The car was so poorly built that it literally started melting. First, the defroster vent snapped off. Then the passenger airbag part of the dashboard is starting to lift up from the rest of the dashboard. All the door handles have waves and look like they're melting. Just the other day my door handle snapped off in my hand and I have to open it with pliers. Just think twice if you plan on purchasing it.

I bought my 2006 Fusion brand new with 15 miles on it. 5 years and 164000 miles later the transmission went out. That is the only issue I really had with this car. It started at about 120000 with the vehicle hard shifting into 3rd gear. I am very happy with everything else the car has to offer. I am replacing the transmission and hope to get alot more miles out of it. I really think the car is well put together. I am not really complaining due to the amount of miles I drive. Hopefully I can drive it for another 100000 with no issues.

I personally loved the car until I became victim of the 50k + transmission defect. There is a big problem with these transmissions. The car becomes outright dangerous to drive. Symptoms include, violent jerking when trying to accelerate to pass, followed by loss of speed. At times the tranny with simply drop out of gear, as if it went into neutral while cruising along on the express way. That's always fun when there is a semi on your tail. There are ALLOT of complaints to Ford and government agencies, but they refuse to do anything about a known defect in certain transmission that is extremely unsafe.

With only four years on the car and 100k on the odometer, the clutch has already failed on this car. I am very disappointed, to say the least. The Fusion has been a relatively decent car up until now, and I am left wondering if this is the start of the decline of the reliability of this vehicle. Otherwise, it's been a decent performer, and I do like the 6 CD change, the steering mounted controls and the sunroof. This was one of the few midsized sedans I could find with a manual transmission, and now I'm wondering how smart that purchase was.

I bought this used with 3K miles on it, have driven 80K. I really like the car. There are two issues, one is the lumbar support broke, the part is $35, but the seat would have to be taken apart. The real problem is the transmission. It will jump out of gear on hard acceleration, and won't downshift at times or when it does it clunks into gear. There is a module inside the transmission that is worn out, appears at about 70K plus miles. So you're out of warranty. It is about $2K to fix. Gas mileage is also lower than expected, but it is a heavy car. I get around 24 average (hwy and town).

We bought our 2006 Fusion used as a 3rd vehicle. It had 18,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. It has proven so flawless and so much fun to drive that we are using it far more than our other vehicles. The fuel mileage is incredible. In driving that is typically 75% highway and 25% city it never gets less than 29 mpg, and on trips at 65mph it averages between 34 and 38 mpg. The interior is roomy and very comfortable, and the ride and handling are excellent. I highly recommend it. Not a single problem at 36,000 miles now. I did replace the driver's side door handle, but this is a $40 part and only takes about 15 minutes to replace with very few tools.

Ford says I need to replace the transmission because of a bad solenoid and they will contribute $1000.00 to the cause. Ghee thanks Ford! If it wasn't for the crappy transmission I wouldn't need your help at all. Will not buy another Ford!

Love the looks of this car...when I can keep paint on it. Comes off it big (postage stamp) pieces. Primer sticks to the back of the paint. Bare metal is exposed and you know what that means rust. Ford will not help. I have repainted both fenders and one door (stripped to bare metal with a razor blade). Now I have another door pealing. Guess I will trade. Inside door handles bubbling as well. 11th Ford probably will take a break after this one.

The fusion wasn't my first choice, it was a nissan maxima but I wanted to get a ford to make my family happy. Its a really nice car. Reliable, excellent "sharp looking" interior, a ton of options, a little sluggish with the 2.3 but you can't get a 5 speed with the 3.0 engine. I thought mileage would be a little better but I'm not complaining. For a guy that's had audis and saabs my whole life. Overall easily a 8 out of 10.

Seems to be some defects on vehicle that Ford is not addressing. Already replaced turn signals lights~ 4 times, Replaced all 4 rotors. Inside handles are bubbling, not yet pealing. Biggest thing is the paint is starting to peel off the hood from the underneath with some bubbling around the underneath. Windows don't seal good enough, sounds like air coming in when going down highway.

I have had this car for 4 years now and have put 77,000 miles on it. Apart for standard maintenance, I have not had to repair anything on this car. I replaced tires and rear brakes at about 60,000 miles. I drive freeway mostly for work and I get about 420 miles to each tank of fuel. The trunk is huge, especially with the rear seats folded down. I love this fusion and when its time, I will purchase another one.

We've had this car for less than a week. We were out looking for a VW Passat for my wife after she'd just passed her '98 VW down to her daughter. No way I ever thought I'd get her into a Ford! All it took was the test drive and she was hooked on this car. We actually stumbled onto it. It had just been traded in that day. It had every option imaginable... SEL trim with V6, leather, sunroof, traction control, heated seats and mirrors, etc. And low miles... for less than a Passat with double the miles and 2 years older! We left the lot initially to do some research and see how many of these used Fusions were out there. Not surprisingly now... very few!

I purchased my Fusion this past summer. It was an off lease vehicle with about 34000 miles. Since it was a used vehicle, I purchased the extended warranty. This is the 6th Ford that I have purchased. My previous Fords were purchased brand new. I had a real bad experience with my Ford Windstar Van and that particular Ford Dealer. I decided never to buy a Ford ever again. I put my faith in Toyota and bought 2 of them since the Windstar. Toyota makes a great car, but I truly believe the quality of my Fusion is equal - if not better than my Toyota. I like this Fusion so much, that I will definitely pass it down to my son when I purchase a new Fusion Hybrid someday. Faith in Ford Again!!

I wrote a review after about 10000 miles on my 2006 Fusion SEL. I now have 55000 on this black beauty and my admiration for the quality of this Ford continues. The Michelins are rotated @ 10000 miles, the oil is changed @ 5000 (synthetiic blend). That's it. Nothing else is required but to enjoy this fantastic machine. I want a 2010 Fusion Hybrid, but cannot part with this car. I know that lemons come in all brands, but I've got a great ride, and still get that little surge of pride for going with the Fusion and not the Camry (which is having lots of press at this time for the recall.) Thanks, Ford.

I bought this car from a private seller with about 42k miles on it. I have only had it for 6months but love it. It's reliable and since it is the 4cyl version I get 27-25mph regardless of where I drive it. The sound system is great stock, no need for additional upgrade. Plenty of leg room for larger drivers (I'm 6'4"). Comfortable and attractive interior. Negatives: Limited sight out of the rear. The view out of the rear of the car is cut by a high trunk and the spoiler doesn't help either. Also in the summer, the A/C draws so much battery power that it hinders the performance of the car. I also have a 6 cd-changer in mine and it doesn't work all the time. Overall, a great commuter car!

I picked this up in Sep 06.I really liked the styling and still do. Since getting my D.L. 26 yrs ago, I've owned 6 Fords,1 Chevrolet,1 Buick, and 1 Pontiac. I had at least 2 issues with each of them. 11 with the Buick.I have not had a single issue with this car after 51k miles. The OEM tires wear quickly.Softer rubber, better handling, means quicker wear.Replaced with Michelins.I believe, due to the Mazda 6 underpinnings,I've noticed little, if any, difference in handling with the tire swap.I purposely chose the manual.More engaging in my experience and the manual with the Fusion is just as good as 2 others I have owned. Being a sedan manual is a plus. Great looks, dependable, and fun.

'06 Fusion V6 SEL - I have had this car 3 yrs now & I really love it for the most part however, I am very frustrated with all the little things that have gone wrong with it. I have had to fix the ac temp control, rotors, passenger grab handle, 2 interior door handles, trunk gas shocks & the headlights need replacing because they are yellowing & seem like they are cracking. The moonroof is rusting also & the windows don't seem sealed tightly. I don't like the tilt & the fact this car doesn't have the peddle adjustment as an SEL. Increased the tire pressure & it finally turns alot better. Gas mileage not what I wish it was. Very roomy & comfy overall with a husband & two growing boys.

We have only had this Fusion for a few months now and my whole family loves driving it. It rides so smooth, has minimal body roll and handles great. The steering is pretty tight too, but that's better than loose steering. Acceleration is very good, I'd guess about 7.5 seconds to 60. Audiophile Stereo is definitely worth the cost, It sounds great.

First car I've owned, 25 years of trucks. 60 mile commute 5-6 days a week this was the best thing I could have done. 74000 miles, oil changes not often enough, 1 air filter, tires at 55000. Holds 4 sets of golf clubs in the trunk 4 of my buddies and will still allow me to pass anything driving the speed limit. Absolutly no complaints. At 100k will give this to my kid then buy another.

Recently purchased the 06 Ford Fusion SEL V6 6-speed and im impressed with the interior and the exterior is so-so. I plan to add ground effects and replace the grille to an aftermarket "net-looking" grille. Has power and handling is great. Bought it with 46k miles and hope to get another 46k without a major repair. Not as responsive as I would like. I went to pass a truck on the interstate and it took 3 seconds or more for the car to downshift and pickup, but when it did it passed the truck without any problems. I've heard great things about the reliability of the fusions and that is what my rating is based on. After 25k+ miles I will update the post with hopefully good things.

I have had my Fusion now for 3 1/3 years. The blinkers lights are always going out. Last year the the AC went out right in the middle of the Texas Summer. Some sensor was out, was still covered under the warranty so didn't cost anything. A year later (the next summer) my check engine light comes on. Yes, I take car in for it's regular checkup always. Anyway the car starts to putter act like it doesn't want to go when I hit the gas. I opted to buy the extended warranty. Turns out the fuse coil is burned up and seems to have short someplace, still in shop. Not at all happy. Suppose be fairly new car to have these problems. May not be covered under the extended warranty.

I did purchase it with an extended warranty - 3 yr / 36000 mi. - just in case since I bought the car used. The quality and workmanship has drastically improved when compared to my previous Fords. In fact - quality wise it is as good as our Toyota. Great job FORD!!

I owned a Taurus for 10 years before purchasing the Fusion, and loved it. I am trading in my Fusion. The back-end is too high and limits visability. I've had to brake suddenly more than once. Also the steering is too tight!! It feels like there is no power steering. You need a wide approach just to make it into a typical parking space. I won't be trading for another Ford, because the choice is limited in this price range.

I have a 2006 Fusion 4 cylinder 5 speed. I generally enjoyed this car and was enthusiastic about it until 2 weeks ago when the locater pins fell out of the fly wheel destroying the transmission, clutch and fly wheel. The Ford tech says it is a fault of the manufacturer but Ford says, sorry guarantee is up. To make matters worse I have been waiting two weeks for parts as simple as the bolts that secure the pressure plate to the fly wheel. I bought this car to support the American manufacturer. The next guy I support will be named Hans. This has been an nightmare.

Bought this because Ford had better financing at the time. By far the worst car I have ever owned. I drive highway to work and only get 23 MPG (compared to the 29 it was listed at). It has been in the shop several times in the first two years with transmission problems. Going back to the shop now because the driver seat broke. Turning radius is horrible. Without traction control, can't get it to move on even a dusting of snow. This was the first and last Ford I will ever own. The value of it has dropped so much I can't even afford to get rid of it since I still owe double what it is worth. I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone.

After 3 years and 18000 mostly city miles, the car is virtually unchanged from the day it was new. No rattles, no fading, no visible wear. The car has tight handling, has the feel and build quality of a luxury car, and has an excellent 5 speed transmission. The car has been absolutely problem free - just gas and regular oil changes. I would be another one just like it without hesitation and recommend it to others.

Overall we have been very happy with our 2006 Ford Fusion. Until the air went out, we had zero problems in 84000 miles. Oil changes and tires and that's it. We are having to pay $600 to have a $10 sensor changed behind the dashboard, which seems outrageous! The car rides well, we get high 20s for mileage on the highway, and the car was a great price. The 4 cylinder engine has enough power but produces some noise in the cabin. I will probably buy another Fusion in a year or two.

When I got this car, I opted for all the features I could get. I wanted something with decent mileage, yet good driving. Previously owned two Ford Taurus' in past, but the Fusion is not as good as a Taurus. I think the Fusion is built for tiny & skinny people who don't mind shelling out hundreds of dollars after 2yrs of driving. When I got the car new it Looked sharp & styling like a mini Cadillac. But Its interior is small. Overall I wish I would of got the Ford 500. Mileage is not made for anything but City driving. Tires wore out after 24K miles, and recently the driver side car handle broke completely off so can't get in car normally. Have to take to dealer to see what they can do.

We were at the end of our lease for this car and after pricing and researching new vehicles not to mention I finally looked at my lease end agreement and found I could purchase it for $12756 it was a no brainer especially since it only has 28000 miles on it. From checking current selling prices with all the options I have on mine retail seems to be anywhere from $14,000 up. I do wish the gas mileage was a little better, we're fairly easy on the pedal and still only average 20mpg. Have not had any problems and it still is fun to drive.

I purchased this car for the sole purpose of saving gas. I drive it 40 miles/day round trip to work. I have tested the highway mpg to be around 28. I put amsoil in it when I got it so I won't be worrying about changing the oil for the next 25,000 miles. I put a K&N filter in it to further cut the long term costs. I put a nose cover on it because there is a lot of construction around here and the rocks and sand will tear the front end up. Plus it looks cool. At times I wish I had the v6 version, but overall it functions exactly as it should.

Very pleased with my Fusion for the first 38,00 miles. First problem was the tires that came on the car wore out in 20,000 miles, I normally get around 40,000, next the key could not be removed from the ignition. Dealer replaced button on the shift lever, $206. Now the drivers side door handle broke, unable to open door from inside. Having checked with dealer yet on repair cost.

Aside from the regular oil changes, we've never had anything mechanically wrong with this car. It's a blast to drive on the highway, but have to watch your speed (sometimes 90 can feel like 70). We did have one major repair done, when a chunk of metal fell off a truck and destroyed the transmission. Other than that, 32,000 miles and a real love for this car. When we bought it, the dealer threw in a remote start, which is real handy in the winter cold.

We purchased this vehicle used with 22,000 miles on it and we now have 70,000 miles on it 20 months later. The only thing we have done to it so far is to consistently service it, and put a new set of tires on it. The Fusion seems to do a pretty good job of combining decent performance, handling, gas mileage, and comfort. Although it has leather, it is not very good quality and the headrests seem to be bricks covered with a little foam pading and a little more leather. Everything seems to be very easily reached and other than the steering mounted temperature adjusting button has worked without flaw. Overall, this vehicle has served us in a way that we would buy another one in a heartbeat.

For looks, comfort, performance and fuel economy, this car is extremely impressive. The only negative I can see is that the high-mount brake light in the back window slightly obscures the view through the mirror.

I love my Fusion. The V6 has good punch and great economy. The styling is also a big plus to me. The Camry and Accord were far too ugly for me to handle, not to mention boring. The Fusion brings a nice breath of fresh air to the boring mid-size segment!

No complaints. I think Ford has finally pushed there #1 selling car (taurus) to second spot. The Fusion runs, handles, and looks great. I am a former ford owner of a Mustang. Many head gasket problems. I told myself I would never again go Ford. I did, and happy I did so.

Tried the Fusion after my bad experience with my 04 GM SUV and also for better gas mileage. I was hesitant in purchasing used but was good value for the money. It had 59k on it but runs and feels like new. This is a gas saver with a full size ride and feel. I have cut my gas bill in half. So far the best used car I have ever purchased. Ford finally got one right. Don't be afraid to at least test drive one. Things are finally getting better for us die hard north american suporters. Remember build it and they will come. Thanks for restoring my faith in North American!

The 2006 Fusion is a solid car and fun to drive. Furthermore, it is really good on gas (I average 25-26 MPG mostly city driving, 32-33 MPG on the highway). I have yet to have a problem with it. Unlike other Fords I have had, it is built pretty well. The only thing I don't like about the way it drives is sometimes it feels like there is a second delay in when i hit the gas and it starts moving.

Fun to drive, looks great, had lots of good comments on it. Was very road noisy on cement pavement. Tires really hum. Changed to Nito tires and much better. Gas mileage is terrible. 20MPG avg with most miles at speeds of 45 -55. Best I ever got was 24.6 on a trip all highway mileage. I do not pound the pedal so it is not driver abuse.

This car is not what I was told when I bought it. If you have kids, buy another car. The price is great, but the cup holder built into the seat with cloth velour seats is crazy. I was told by the dealer to just buy seat covers. Well, guess what, there were none available anywhere for about one year. Then my car has no adequate storage inside, because it has a lot of "little" compartments, but none large enough to actually store something in, especially the glove compartment. I have owned a Ford since 1999 (SUVs) but with the cost of gas. I hate my car. The inside doors cannot be cleaned when dirtied by a seven year old. he bottom rides too low, it's too long, etc. Wipers stink.

I love this car, but it's taken a while to get all the bugs out. Four malfunctions after purchase. Ford repaired all and dealerships could not have been nicer. Serpentine belt screetching and it took over a year and a half for third dealership to finally find and solve problem. Overall, great car. I love driving it. Handles beautifully on the road. Gets over 30 miles to the gallon on long trips close to 30 around town. I'm pleased. It's a 4 cylinder, and I have plenty of power.

I absolutely love my Fusion SEL V6! The power and acceleration is great, I get good mileage on highway and around town, there's plenty of interior room to drive around my daughter and her friends, and I love the leather seats. The trunk has ample room, and they really thought out the interior features. I am so glad that I got the moonroof, but of course it comes standard with the SEL. I can see myself keeping this vehicle for many years, and giving it to my daughter when she is ready to drive, so I plan on purchasing the extended warranty. I am proud to be seen in this vehicle compared to my old Accord and Camry, this is my preferred car.

I have had the car for 1 year now and I have put on 25000 miles on it and this car is fantastic. No squeaks, no rattles. The ride is as tight as the day I bought it. All I have needed to do is the scheduled maint. The ride is fantastic and the handling is tight and respponsive. I reccomend this car to anyone who does a lot of driving. I average 27mpg which definitely helps with keeping the costs down. I would buy this car again and probably will.

I had my heart set on a new Camry until I saw the Fusion challenge commercial. I test drove the Camry, the Accord and even the G35. I chose the Fusion over all of them. The Camry and Accord lose outright and the G didn't blow my socks off for the price. We've taken it on a trip and love it. The handling, pick-up, six speed transmission, and comfort are all huge pluses. The downfalls are: No Navigation. No AUX input to stereo. No shifter for the transmission. I have allowed everyone in my family to drive it and they all have loved driving it. I took the challenge and am now a believer that the Fusion beats the Camry and Accord hands down. Finally, I traded my Toyota in on this Fusion.

I am coming from a V6 Kia Optima. The car obviously feels much tighter and handles much better. I don't see all that much difference in the acceleration. The feel of the interior and the comfort is great, the controls on steering wheel are awesome. The radio could use some better speakers. The look of the car is awesome! I have only put about 300 miles on it right now. I must say I got a family deal on the car and paid only 16K for a SEL V6 with 7000 miles, so you can't go wrong there.

Purchased brand new, so I was able to receive the full experience of the car without any wear and tear already. Had a Ford previously so I could easily compare and tell how Ford stepped it up on a better model of a car. Performance was the issue on the previous Ford I had, yet not on this one. I am very pleased with how after a year it has still held up like new. Just do the routine maintenance to ensure it will stay in pertty much tip- top shape. I receive about 28 MPG on average and travel far on the weekends near DC on I-495, where speed is around 70 mph for the most part. But in my city during the week it's hovered around 50 mph. I am very pleased with the car!

If your considering a Honda or Toyota, please look at a Fusion V-6 model. Well worth the trouble. I thouroughly enjoy driving the Ford Fusion through its paces. Very competent vehicle and quiet and fast and good fuel economy to boot. Now when have you heard this coming from an owner of a Ford lately? I recommend this vehicle and the only recommendation I would tell someone if they are thinking of purchasing a Fusion, stay clear of the four cylinder models. They are loud and not much power in my opinion. But the fit and finish will not disappoint you. The SEL model has all the bells and whistles just like the foreign models. So keep the Ford Fusion on your short list.

I purchased the 2006 SE Fusion in March 2007 and a huge factor was the price. After looking at the imports, I found that the Fusion was closer to my price range of $15,000 for a late model used vehicle. The Toyota and Honda comparable mid-size sedans were $2,000 above my range. I have driven the car 3,000 miles in the last 6 weeks and I find it to be quiet comfortable on long road trips. In a combination of 80% city and 20% open highway, I’m getting an average of 25 MPG. I am well pleased to have a nice car at a nice price.

I bought the SE V6 new. I wanted a used one freshly off of a lease, but none available. It was a gamble buying the first generation Fusion, but so far, I have had no major issues. Actually, this chassis does have a history, since it is based off of the Mazda 6, which is also a great car. The 220 hp V6 is powerful and responsive. I get 30 mpg driving mostly highway to work (I drive pretty conservative), which is great. The seats are comfortable and supportive for the front passengers. I have put 27,000 miles on this car in about a year (not very proud of that number) due to a long commute and weekend travel. So far, no codes pulled or mechanical issues. Interior trim could be better.

I've driven my Fusion over 20k miles and enjoy the car. However, recently I noticed that I'm getting more and more paint chips and not just in the hood as expected by road debris. I have multiple chips in the hood, but also each door with no 'dings' to suggest they were caused by a careless driver in a parking lot. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my car and getting 31 mpg is fantastic, but I want it to look as good as it performs and right now, that's just not the case.

We traded a 2003 Ford Explorer for a 2006 Fusion to obtain better fuel efficiency, however this was a big mistake. We are only averaging about 19-20 mpg with the Fusion, but have sacrificed a significant amount of space. Our Explorer was roomy and held 7 passengers. The Fusion is small and even with buying the V6 SEL loaded, it is missing some of my favorite luxury features. Also, we purchased the fusion in May 06, then in July 06, Ford offered an extended warranty to all the 2006 models purchased after mid July. What a slap in the face to those of us who took a chance and bought Ford's first year model Fusion!

What a great ride. Drove from No. California to Vegas and it was awesome to get out on the open road. Tight handling is so much better than the looseness of the Camry I drove previous to purchasing my Fusion. I have owned a Honda, a Nissan, and another Ford model in the past 20 years and aside from my very first "new car" which was a Nissan, this is the best. I would definitely purchase this car again. Price tag is unbeatable. Only thing is I can't quite figure out what is up with the high beams. Not sure if I am operating the device correctly or if they just don't work. Need to consult manual or ask the next time I am in for routine service.

I was lucky enough to have my parents buy this car for me to replace a vehicle that I actually out grew! I am 6 foot five. I find this vehicle to be very comfortable for my long body. I love the style of this car so much. People often think I am driving a Caddy. I don't get exceptional gas mileage, only averaging close to 25-26 mph, but that is driving back and forth to college going over a lot of hills and mountains. So it probably isn't too bad. I think i have a pretty amazing ride for only being 19 years old. Buy the slush mats, they are like 90 bucks but they keep your carpet protected!

I test drove the Fusion, Camry, Accord, Charger, and Impala before buying the Fusion. After driving the cars, the Impala and Fusion were top on my list. I loved how the Fusion drove and the styling and decided to lease it. It has never broke down and continues to impress me. I am happy with my decision to buy it.

I've had the car since March 2006. It drives great and I really like it. There are a few problems but the dealership is happy to fix them for me. I had a bad door seal, which made a whistling sound while driving and my lumber support in my seat broke and my door lock. The dealership fixed all those things quickly. Overall, it is a great car and I would recommend it.

After 4 months of ownership, I still look forward to getting behind the wheel of the Fusion SEL V6. I've found the car meets or exceeds the EPA mileage ratings of 21/29. The interior is tight and quiet and the V6 produces plenty of acceleration. The rear deck is rather high like a lot of the newer cars which obscures anything close and the turning radius (not tight) is something to get used to. The Fusion's a good value compared to the Accord and Camry and exceeds my expectations.

I was a VW salesman in the 60's. I've owned at least 25 cars since then. My last car was a Chrysler Cirrus. Not bad but the Fusion is just the best. More than adequate room inside. Superb power, great gas mileage and just plain fun to drive. It surely is a "looker" wherever I go. I just think Ford has done a superb job with this vehicle.

Bought this car after owning a Honda and a VW and wasn't expecting too much. I've owned Ford's before and have had good luck but this car has far exceeded what I expected. I'm 6'-6", and the interior space is great, including the trunk. I bought the I-4, SE w/SE premium package and a 5 speed transmission. The car has very good acceleration, handles well and gets gas mileage above what I expected. The radio is very good and plays MP3 CD's, seats are comfortable and is a great looking car. For the amount of money you pay, this car is a great deal. In 5 months of ownership I've had not 1 problem or complaint or any reason to take it to the dealership. For the price & reliability try Ford again.

I have been driving this car for 6 months and the experience is amazing. It is smooth, classy, and comfy. Anyone I offer a ride to is immediately impressed and pleasantly surprised that it is a Ford. I rode in a 2007 Toyota Camry recently while visiting a friend out of state and my Fusion far surpasses the Camry ride. Both were V6s but there was no comparison. Fusion Rocks! I didn't tell him that...but I was so happy with my decision to buy the Fusion. The spacious interior of the Fusion is also a huge plus that the Camry doesn't come close to providing. Ford did it right this time!

Just bought a new Ford Fusion I-4 after trading in my Expedition. The gas mileage is so good on the Fusion. I average about 22-25 mpg in the city. The interior is comfortable (w/standard cloth seating). Everything is nice and accessible. The controls on the steering wheel (for the climate control and radio) are so nice to have. Love the console shifter and the Automatic Climate Control. I wish the SEL came with standard automatic headlamps. But besides that, the Fusion is a great car to own.

Purchased 2006 Fusion with auto transmission 4 cylinder. Handles very well, better than Accord or Camry. Very responsive and good braking - I have the ABS. Getting 29 mpg all the time. Good pick up and is an excellent passer even at 65 mph. I worked for Ford for 5 years and this is a better car than the Focus was when it came out. Only complaint is that there is some engine noise, maybe a little more sound insulation. All in all a very good car, my wife really loves it too and would like to get another one.

My wifes new Fusion is the best riding Ford with the least road noise I've ever ridden in. I've always been a Ford man but thought the Fords always had too much road noise but the new Fusion does not. Got the V6 with more than enough power. Gas mileage runs about 26 in the city and was 28.5 when new on the highway; should be around 30 or better now on the highway. Very tight made and a pleasure to drive.

This car is not equipped as good as a lot of other cars, no outside temp, no mist on the wipers, lots of plastic inside, very cheap. The fabric on the seat - everything sticks to it. If my dealer would have been sure this is the car I wanted, instead of just a sale, maybe the SEL was the one I needed. Looking around for a good deal to trade it off, will not buy another Ford. Power is Ok. It's mine, I bought it, will drive till I get a good deal on a new car. Selling factor was 72 months at 0%. Just to let you all know, this is my 25th new car,and the only one I am not happy with, not all bad but a bad choice for me, at $22,000 lots of better choices out there,

Very nice vehicle that regularly garners complements on its appearance. Those considering an import should give this Ford a try! I test drove the 4 and 6, and liked the way the four cylinder handled--it felt more sporty vs. the heavier, bigger care feel of the six cylinder. I have no regrets, especially since the 4 gets better gas mileage, too. (23 MPG with all city driving; it shows 33 on the computer for those rare instances that I get it on a highway).

I like the fact I purchased with the maximum options on this vehicle, otherwise I would not be satisfied. The basic versions just don't have the same kick! I am overall extremely pleased with my car, but there were 2 features that really took some getting used too. First was the rear window - not a whole lot of viewing going on back there, and second I'm about 5'10" and I had to do quite a bit of seat adjusting to not rub my head against the ceiling all the time. I replaced the stereo because there was no iPod hookup, but the stock speakers are great. My car is fully loaded, and I mean fully. I bought it with every feature they had listed and I got a killer deal. This car is HOT! and I am proud to be an owner. Did I mention its maroon or dark red; however you view it, it's like butter!

Since I spend a lot of time on the highway, the little things really affect me. First off, the 6 speed auto trans is smooth, but the Fusion gives me no feedback or control over what gear it is in. When punching the gas (6 cylinder) to pass someone there is a pause while the engine revs up and the 6 speed fumbles to find the right gear. This seems fairly unsafe to me. I would like to have a control to send the transmission into lower gears. Also, while the cruise control is on, if I increase speed with the gas pedal, the transmission fumbles around too much. I can see the results on the tachometer. Otherwise, WOW! What a lot of car for the money!

I bought my Fusion five months ago and wanted to wait until I had it for awhile before giving a review. I have 15000 miles on it and have had no problems with my Fusion. I think Ford has built a capable car to compete with other midsized cars in its price range. The V6 engine is acceptable for the size and weight of the car. I average about 28 mpg. I have been driving long distances mostly highway and the ride is very comfortable.

This has been a great car so far. Love the interior styling with the two tone color. It's surprisingly a solid car. The only downfall is the mileage we have seen is 25mpg in city and on the highway with the 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual. Hoping it will rise to the 31 highway as advertised when summer is over and we don't use the air conditioner. It's peppy for a 4 banger but very comfortable inside even with four 6 foot tall adults inside.

This car is a blast to drive. I went on an out of state trip recently to visit my family. During the trip I averaged "over" 40 MPG! (highway). I was getting nearly 600 miles between fill ups. This with the five speed automatic transmission. The transmission is smooth and down shifts to the appropriate power for easy passing, merging, etc. My SE model has the information center that electronically calculates mileage as well as other functions. This car feels very solid and quite lively. Something I didn't expect from the little four popper. Overall very happy with the car. It gives a sense of solid quality and value.

I bought this car looking for something stylish and sporty, but I drive 100 miles per day. I had not considered this car because I was looking to increase my average by at least 10 mpg over the 25 mpg I was averaging with my old car. When I test drove this car which was rated at 32 mpg highway I watched the computer on the dash, with the cruise set at 65 mph, climb to 36 mpg. Sold! The car is tight. It is a little underpowered with the 4 cylinder, but that is the trade off for the gas mileage. One of my other car is a 2004 Corvette, so that my have a little to do with the power issue. It is a great value for what you get on the car. This is going to be a great commuter car.

The gas mileage is awesome (and quite a step up from the Expedition) for a higher performance V6 (29 highway) and it moves well when you gas it. Number one was to drive the most suitable (for us) American based (although made in Mexico) sedan. Focus was new, different, very "pretty" inside, had all the extras needed for each of us (power seat, all the power needed functions, very good steering, quiet on the highway). The lease was very reasonable (three years, full disclosure of the future and a very low interest rate). The only negative (and this was quite negative for us smaller people) was the hump on the rear back seat holding a stop light which reduced center rear visibility. This should be eliminated.

I love the performance and handling, great pickup, almost shifts without noticing. The extras are another story, lumbar support broke at 5000 miles, sunroof leaks, brakes grab after letting off petal. Gas mileage is OK but not what stated. If you read the Fusion discussions you will see that there are many problems that need correcting. Overall I love the car but getting a little discouraged on something always going wrong. But 1st year out I guess I am one of the Beta Testers.

When replacing my wife's car we compared Altima, Sonata, Mazda6 and Fusion. The Ford won because of style, value, and fun. After quickly ruling out the Altima (too pricey), we were down to 3. We liked interior and exterior style of Fusion over Sonata. Mazda (like the other Japanese midsize contenders) was too pricey for the same features. We have just over 1400 miles and have really enjoyed the car. We debate whose turn it is to drive. Ford surprised us with the style, handling, and comfort of this car. We preferred the 6-cylinder Fusion, because the 4 seemed to lack power with the automatic.

We bought it for wife to commute in approximately 126 miles five days a week. We liked it so much we gave our daughter our 2004 Toyota Solara and sold her 2003 Monte Carlo. With me retired we found we didn't need three cars in the family. Everywhere we went on weekends, like Lake Tahoe, we take the Fusion and love it. I've had my car since the first of the year, and I still can't believe how in love I am. I love opening the moonroof on a breezy night and unwinding with the heated seats. I've had many people comment on how "rich looking" the car is. Mine is tungsten silver with the black leather/black piano finish.

This is my second Fusion in 4 months. The first Fusion I purchased was in an unfortunate accident which totaled the vehicle. The good thing was that I was safe with no damage done, with the exception of the car. I liked it so much that I went out and bought another one.

I had an AudiA6 4.2 that went out of warranty, so I started looking to replace it. While the Fusion is no Audi, it also doesn't cost over $50k. The "step down" I thought I was taking, is not a step down at all. I love this car. I love the mileage, the looks, the regular gas, and all of the premium type appointments -even the stereo- which has long been weak in Fords. I bought SEL V6. I truly love it. If it didn't say Ford on it, I would never believe it. It is a winner all around. No other car that I looked at can give all of this for this price. Leather etc. put a Camry into the $30's. No brainer for me. I only wish it had Parktronic rear sensors. Other than that, I am very very happy.

I love this car very much. I have had it for about 3 months now and have put nearly 5000 miles on it. I got the very base model with automatic transmission as the ONLY option, and it is still a very comfortable car to ride in. Long trips are great in it because it is quiet, the sound isn't bad at all (for the base model), and it really did get me 32 mpg from New Mexico to Oklahoma several times. I checked myself. This is a fun car to drive. It is peppy, and It has much more go than I expected from a 4 cylinder. I highly recommend it.

I have owned this car for almost a month. I have been very disappointed. In town, I am only getting about 17mpg. On a recent vacation, we got up to 22 by the monitor, but we figured more like 27. When I first take off from a complete stop, there is some hesitation. The rear seat belts are very uncomfortable for an adult. The turning radius is not very good and makes it hard to get into a straight parking space. If I could, I would return it...this is my first new car. I wish I had shopped around more. Needs a digital clock. When the radio is off, its just a dark space. Plastic looks cheap.

I have only had my SE with the 6 cylinder auto for a little over a month. I am coming up on 3000 miles. First of all, I would like to comment about the car having an all aluminum engine. Nascar is using the same all aluminum engine, but bored and stroked to the maximum. If it can take that abuse, I know that my abuse would be nothing to its engine. I love the way that it rides, and am replacing a Mazda 6S auto with the Fusion. It handles better then the Mazda. I love its acceleration and have always owned foreign cars. I am averaging about 25-30 on the highway and 25 in city. I am now " talking " Ford.

This car knocked my wife off her feet for the look and she had no brand preference while we were shopping. This review comes from her husband - a long time Ford owner. We purchased the 4 cylinder, 5 speed automatic which came out later in 2006. We love the vehicle! It is definitely an eye-catcher. It drives as well as any competitor car of the 5 others we drove. The front grill is the seller and the slick interior is awesome. Good engine pickup and stop handling, very tight turning and huge truck space. Pop down seats in the rear with arm/beverage holder a plus. This car drove as good or in some cases, better than any of the competitors. Overall, we are very pleased.

Picked up my Charcoal Beige SEL V-6 with black leather last week. After reading all the reviews and road test data my expectations were high and this car has not disappointed me. I think my wife even likes it. So far, fuel economy seems to be as advertised which was one of my concerns. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a mid-size sedan.

This is a great car! Nice snappy exterior styling. Great gas mileage - 30+. Great handling. Probably a bit underpowered with the I-4 but with the mileage worth the sacrifice. Lack of good rear window visibility will take a while to get use to but probably not unlike other cars. Light colored cloth interior is nice but I have concerns over durability and stain resistance.

I've had my Fusion for two weeks, and it is great...fun to drive, comfortable ride, and stylish. The audiophile system is wonderful. I was convinced that Ford had a winner until I discovered that you cannot put tire cables or chains on the 17" wheels for winter driving. Where I live, chains are frequently required for winter driving in the mountains. (Those wheels look great, though!)

I traded in my Audi A6 when the warranty was up on it. So, ok, I downgraded a little...but by how much? NOT much. I love this car. I bought the SEL V6 loaded. Its hot looking, more than peppy, great lines, nice interior, and it has so many features built in I can't believe it's a Ford! I only wish it had the Homelink for my garage and an optional sport shift (I have the Automatic) . The car is clean, more room than my Audi had, great gas mileage, FLEX FUEL, not premium, mp3 leather, etc. Handles nice, I am very happy. Until you sit in it, drive it, and look at it, you wouldn't have thought Ford could do it. But when you drive it and do those things...you will buy it. I love it!

I just bought this car and it is great. Mileage and comfort were my two main driving factors for a new car. This car gives a great value proposition. I test drove the Malibu, Impala, 300 and Charger and still chose the Fusion. The Charger/300 was a close second but was $4,000 more for basically the same features. The pop up storage on the dash is cool. I didn't need the sunroof but basically got it throw in after I completed the deal with the dealership.

This car is fun to drive and plenty of power. Have had people stop and check it out and finally ask all about the car. Even though we loved the red Fusion that is on TV we bought black. I have had people tell me they didn't like the looks of the car until they saw our black one! I said same thing that we were looking at the red and on a one day trip stopped in Oakdale Ca and this was only one left on the lot. We never finished our trip because we made deal right then and drove it home. It's funny because our local dealer in Tracy Ca had about six cars and no red! The lady we deal with there had me bring it by to see.

I was greatly surprised that after two months the car has been flawless! The Fusion is sporty and yet classy, and has a lot of room for passengers, especially in the trunk. The interior design reminds me of an Acura and the quality of a $10,000 more expensive car. I owned a 2003 Altima V4 and paid just about the same for the Fusion. However, I got a V6 in the Fusion which provides great pickup when compared to the Altima's V4 for just a little less gas mileage. The Fusion's A/T smoothness in down shifting and acceleration has no rivals in other small cars like the Altima or Camry. This car has the look, feel and quality of a good $35,000 car with its 50 series (profile) tires.

I bought this car in SE/I4/manual trim, two weeks ago, and I'm very happy I did. It's fun to drive for a family car; in a whole different league from Malibu or Camry. The suspension and brakes are especially well done. The I4 is not overpowering, but it revs high and the manual transmission works great...feels good and the gears are tightly spaced. I also think it's a beautiful car (on the outside...average on the inside), and it was inexpensive to boot. I always said if a US manufacturer builds a car that was good-looking and fun to drive with a manual transmission, I would give it a chance. Well, this is that car! I'm very happy and would recommend it to anyone.

I am NOT a Ford person. I saw I drove and I bought so it must be great! Was looking at a BMW and saw a picture of the red with foglights, upgraded rims and tons of extras and for the price I couldn't beat it. The 4 cylinder outperformed better than I was expected, nice pick up for a 4 banger. Plenty of room, we think it has the Cadillac front end look and a Lexus rear end look. Classy and sporty looking for a sedan. Handles great, sound system is great. Gas mileage has been great especially since I have been driving my Honda Ridgeline 100 miles a day (good lord the gas) and now it's like $40 a week compared to $100 - love it! Recommend to all. Inside isn't cheesy looking like I expected either.

Our Fusion SEL is a firm, tight, well-built car that feels more expensive than it is. The 6-speed automatic transmission gives it excellent acceleration for a V6, and the braking is excellent. This vehicle is so fun to drive, just looking at the interior makes you feel like you're driving a expensive car at a modest price. The outside is a sleek exotic yet elegant look to it yet the back lacks just a little more innovation. The front of this vehicle is completely redesigned but the back looks all to familiar on other cars which doesn't make it stand out much from the back visual part. Overall this vehicle is really impressive both visual and economically. I am really glad I choose to purchase this vehicle among the various choices I had to choose from.

After test driving the Accord, Camry and then the Fusion, we liked the Fusion much better. The leather seats on our SEL are extremely comfortable. The Fusion is fun to drive and makes turns so solid, you feel very little sway. We have 17" wheels so the turning circle is wide, which bothered me at first, but now I am used to it and it does not bother me at all. Also, it is much better looking than the Camry and thousands less than the Accord.

I have owned the car only 3 weeks but love it. It is comfortable, quick, and very quiet, especially in the lower gears (I have the 5-speed) but is seems to rev a little high when it gets over 60 mph which is my only complaint about this car. I owned a 2005 Escape XLT 4WD that I traded for this (which rode like a skateboard that got 18 mpg) and the mileage on the first 2 tankfuls of gas has been about 27 mpg which is much better than what I was used to. I am keeping this car forever.

We just purchased our Fusion SEL V6 last night. What a blast to drive - the number of stares we are receiving was totally unexpected. We thought it was a nice looking car but didn't think so many others would agree as well. We haven't pressed it too hard (yet) but we know it can fly. What we are enjoying is the quiet ride and tight suspension. We test drove a Camry LE V6 and SE V6 and thought it OK but not great. The Fusion we thought was by far a better ride. I hope Ford has turned the corner and continues to build solid cars.

I have had my Fusion for almost a full 3 months now and I like it just as much, if not more, then when I first got it. I got the V6 SEL, fully loaded and even had a remote starter thrown in. It's a quiet ride. The Fusion has quick acceleration with a growl I only wished my Mustang had. The steering is responsive and the car brakes on a dime. It's got good suspension - I don't feel the bumps like I did with my Mustang. Traction control works good in the rain and snow. No slippin' and slidin'. The trunk is huge, which only means I can shop more now! The 8 speaker, 6 CD/MP3 player sounds great. I have nothing bad to say about this car. Ford did a great job and made a fun car that I love to drive!

Looked around for 6 months, drove em all, Camry, Sonata, Altima, Accord. The Fusion offers the best combination of ride, performance, features and price. Got the SE with sport package, ABS, side airbags and auto. MPG around 33 in rural area with a 25 mile commute each way. I think Ford got it right with this one. Only hope they don't overload the rental market and kill the resale value of this great car. I also have a Mazda 3 and love how the Fusion handles as well as the Mazda (not quite the Zoom Zoom) but still a great car. Don't believe the hype from the import dealers, drive the Fusion yourself (not just around the block) and you'll see what everyone is talking about.

Purchased a loaded SEL with all options. Ford has done its homework with this sedan. Value is what this vehicle has over the other 2 main players in this segment. For the price I paid, you couldn't touch a like sedan with like options for this price. Granted, plastics could be a bit better on the interior. Quiet, comfortable ride. Road feel is minimal. Handles fantastic around curves. 221HP V6 is plenty for this vehicle. V6 costs same or even less than 4 cylinder models in like sedans. Tinted glass would be nice.

This car is a fair car fell very short on mileage 15-17 on the V-6 in town. I am using good gas also, and driving habits. I was told by the dealer the mileage is figured out on a flat surface at 35-45 mph it says 20-29mpg on the sticker, not so on my vehicle. The good things; 6 speed auto very good. Sound system is good, AC is great. Noisy brakes on parking lot maneuvers - again I was told that's normal. I drive other cars and do not hear the brakes groan. I regret ever buying it. Oh I have to admit the dealer was great when I complained about the mileage; checking alignment, tire pressure and engine codes and they gave me a car to drive. Not a happy camper here.

It has plenty of interior room and a great trunk size. SEL with premium and safety package and leather seats, VERY well stocked and still $3-4K less than a base Honda or Toyota in this class. Very quiet ride, good at quieting wind and road noise. Fun features, fun controls, very classy look and feel at a good price. Well built and easy enough to work on. This is a gorgeous car and I would recommend it to anyone. I bought this as my first new car, intending to keep it through college and into the real world (then I'll buy Lexus!).

I needed a car that gets good mileage and I got it in the Fusion. For a car about the size of the Accord and for a lot less money, it's just about equal.

The Fusion has been a great car. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and gets great gas mileage. I recently went on a business trip and averaged 36 mpg! The Fusion has been trouble free with only routine oil/filter changes and inspections. The looks great in and out and is an outstanding vehicle to drive in everyday.

Excellent gas mileage. Sporty look. Drives like a sport car, hugs the curves, gets from zero to ? in a amazing few seconds fast! Has safety air bags not only for the front, but for the whole side also. Has steel safety bars in the front side doors. Drives like a dream. For the low price, you get an amazing amount of extras. Has a 6-cd and 6 speakers, the steering wheel moves not only out, but up and down like a airplane. Ample head and body room, adjustable drive seat also adjust up and down. Plenty of storage room, inside the car and trunk. Back seats fold down. Radio feature on steering wheel, so you don't have to reach over and adjust the actual radio. Excellent low price.

Overall this is a nicely done car. Styling is much more distinctive than the Japanese, but the mechanicals are still not as refined. The engine could use a bit more torque, but horsepower is good once you get the revs up. Interior is very attractive with the piano black trim - although I'm concerned about scratches. Overall I would recommend it, especially since it's several $1000 less than a similarly optioned Accord.

My overall review is very positive. The car is extremely comfortable with ample leg room for a six footer. With the front seat all the way back there is more than enough room in the back. The 5 speed automatic really helps with the gas mileage. I get over 36 mpg on the highway going up and down the rolling Ozark hills. I was going to purchase a Corolla or a Mazda3 when my wife keyed me onto this gem. The Mazda3 was overpriced and actually purchased the Fusion for less the the quote I received the Mazda3. In the south Corollas are rare with side air bags. Without bags they have poor crash ratings. The Fusion without side bags gets 4 out of 5 stars! Test drive one before making your final decision.

Just got a 2006 V6 SEL with black leather interior and safety package and upgraded stereo. Overall a successful design. Handling is very good and it has a quiet and comfortable ride without being too isolated. Despite having plenty of power at the front wheels it still has a good steering feel and no noticeable torque steer. Ford succeeded in finding a good balance between handling and comfort. The optional perforated leather seats are very comfortable and look great to boot. However little design details display Ford's lowest bidder supplier mentality: cheap plastic analog clock, no cabin air filter! (allows outside dust on black dash and vents), cheap looking instrument panel.

It's really a great car with fantastic handling, good fuel mileage, a peppy 4 cylinder, and plenty of room. After over 3500 miles I've consistently averaged about 28 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving. This is a family sedan that is actually fun to drive!

I compared the Fusion to the Camry and Accord. It drove better than both and was priced less than a Hyundai. I'm a first time Ford owner, and am very pleased so far. The seats are extremely comfortable, fun to drive, great features. I'm getting 30 MPG according to the trip computer in mixed around town and highway driving. I've never owned a car that attracted so many positive comments. It looks and drives like a much more expensive car. If my car budget was $10K higher than it was, I'd still buy this car. Ford has a winner with the Fusion!

Thought I was going to by an Accord but glad I went back to my American car. Have driven this car for about a month and I love this car. The handling and comfort is great. The stereo cranks. The gas mileage is great, I went to Birmingham this week from Atlanta and without A/C was getting 34.5 mpg; on the way back had A/C on got 32 mpg on highway. This car is so quiet and smooth just a joy to drive. And I find myself cruising around 80 mph and doesn't feel like it, it's so smooth. The I4 has plenty of get up and go. Kicking it down was impressive.

Ok, I was skeptical, but my co-worker said. "I like this better than your Honda Accord" after bringing one by for a long test drive around lunch time. I said, "No way, it is a Ford!" After spending a little time with this car in the parking lot, I decided I would go back with him to the dealership after work and test drive one myself. This car is great and I DO like it better than my Accord. Plenty of power, great responsiveness, nice materials, and pleasing to the eye. My dealership added a rear spoiler that really makes it look great! Love this car. My first American car in 15 years.

So far, after 600 miles, I am really loving this car! The 5 speed manual is so much more fun to drive than an automatic, and the 4 cylinder is both smooth and torquey at low speeds and offers decent passing power. It drives and looks like a much more expensive car. By far the best looking Ford car in the stable. I was thinking about a Focus before I bought this car, and I am happy that I went with the Fusion. I am averaging 27mpg combined city and highway driving. It is so fun to drive that I find myself looking for excuses to go to the store just to be able to shift through the gears and enjoy the driving experience that this car offers.

I really liked this car even though it just appeared in the market. It seems really good, and even though reviews in this page say it's not powerful enough against its competitors such as the Toyota Camry, for me 221 HP is more than enough power in this car. Here in Mexico it's just like $1,000 dollars more expensive but everything in this car is worth it. This is not only a family car, it's a sports cars and the SEL version gives me all the luxury I want in this type of car. It's of the best cars I ever bought; compared to Chrysler Concorde I had, it complies with I wanted in a these type of sedans.

Had this car for about a month now and it is fantastic. I love this car! It rides smooth. Draws looks all the time. The black exterior is the best color to me. I love it so much I wipe it down everyday. The V6 is very powerful and I can accelerate very quickly. Easy to pass cars/trucks on highways. Love the lumbar support. Handles turns very good. I have the standard cd system and it plays very good. Very loud! I love it.

So far I've had 5000 trouble free miles. The V6 has plenty of power for a FWD vehicle - it's as quick as my V8 Lincoln LS. The steering is nicely weighted and very precise with a Germanic feel. The handling is superb but not too harsh. The interior is one of Ford's best to date. The exterior is striking and really stands out. Tungsten grey is one of my all time favorite colors. In the sunlight it almost looks like granite. The audiophile stereo sounds ok but not fantastic, even with 8 speakers. Rear visibility is hampered by the tall rear deck but that also gives you a huge trunk.

I researched, looked at and drove vehicles for two months. Safety features like side airbags, traction control and anti-lock brakes were important to me. I did not want a mom van or a gas hog SUV. Toyota and Honda car models were very pricey. The Fusion has the power and smooth ride I was looking for without the expensive car price. It is fun to drive and gets lots of looks. The controls on the steering wheel are easy to use while driving. The back seat is comfortable for two kids.

If you are shopping for a car in this class, you owe it to yourself to check out Ford's new Fusion. This is the best Ford in ages, and a worthy competitor for Toyota and Honda. Power is smooth and responsive, handling terrific, and the cabin is spacious with excellent comfort. 30 MPG on highway, mid to high 20's city. Mine is black with bone leather interior, a striking combination. Many express surprise that it is a Ford, thinking it is something much more expensive. I have 7000 miles on it now, and the only repair has been a burned out turn signal bulb, covered under warranty. I looked at many cars (it's a car nuts addiction,) and none impressed me like the Fusion did.

I really like this car and have driven many Ford vehicles in the past. This car replaces a 98 Contour SE Sport. I wanted a Freestyle, she wanted a Fusion. We bought the Fusion in Merlot with side airbags and 6 disc CD player. Great car. Six speed hunts at times. At 3000 miles for the complimentary oil change. My FUEL PUMP died. In the dealership Friday morning; got car back Tuesday evening, back to dealer on Wednesday afternoon (left my wife stranded) for same problem, plus other sensors ruined from fuel starvation. Got car back Friday morning. Car is running great now. Hope I did not get the lemon of the lot. That would stink.

I had been driving a 4x4 for years and thought that I couldn't go without it, but I must say I have no problems in the snow. I live in upstate Pennsylvania where we get a lot of snow, and I don't think twice about going out in a storm, handles great. No matter where I go, I am always being asked what I think of this car, people in a parking lot always seem to stop and look. The car is awesome. There isn't another car out there that can give the performance and style for the price.

Ford has done very well with this model. The car has a very aggressive line, and the interior design is the best I've seen from Ford yet, in the price range. The 4 cylinder engine is plenty, combined with the 5 speed auto transmission. Very classy looking. This is what they needed to help get Ford back near, or on top.

Have driven many vehicles, get new cars frequently through Ford lease program. This is definitely one of the best I have driven. Good suspension, road holding, engine is responsive, steering is exceptional for a sub-$20k car. Engine is a little noisy, and the turning radius could still be tightened, but you will never think of that. Much better looks than other family sedans, inside and out. Trunk opening is wider than average, so the ample space is actually usable. First car/truck I have driven where the front seat could go too far back - recommended for the long-legged people among us (I am 6ft.).

Transmission is smooth, love the added extras like the buttons on the steering wheel that work the cruise control, volume on the radio and the temperature control on the climate control. Other nice features are the autodimming mirror and moon roof. Best of all, the car has great handling on the road, hugging the corners with ease. I did 70 and barely went above 2000 rpms. Nice.

Upon laying my eyes on the Fusion, I had to have it. I am proud to say that it was an excellent choice to say the least. The look and performance of the vehicle are both simply awesome. The engine picks up almost as quick as my V6 2005 Mustang. The body and design of the entire vehicle make it look classy and tough (especially with black exterior). The 5 bar split chrome grill, the chrome tail light housing and fog lamp housing make it even more than beauty. The comfort of the interior is the same as an Audi A6, and has many extra frills of comfort. I added a set of 20' chrome rims and tinted the windows in back. It totally set this car off even more.

I managed 35mpg with a heavy wind at my back and suspect after a period of break in I will average about 29-30mpg. Fit and finish is as good as I have seen. Would definitely recommend the Fusion to anyone. I have the automatic and not the 5m. Shifts are concise and plenty of power. Leaving the Mustang out of the equation, in my opinion best car Ford has every built.

It's fun to drive, is no slouch on power and has a very refined feel. The engine sounds and feels great at all throttle settings. I love the steering and placement of switches. The radio is a little inconvenient to operate and sometimes the buttons for the AC have to be pushed a couple of times to activate or deactivate the functions. The sounds system is great and the ride is very quiet on asphalt. Concrete adds lots of noise to the cabin. Money well spent!

This is a great car. Has somewhat of a Euro feel to it. It's fun to drive, and has a lot of passenger room and a huge trunk. At 6'-1", I have plenty of headroom and legroom (even with a sunroof), and my 5'-0" wife can move the seat higher and forward enough to drive it comfortably as well. All the controls are logical and easy to reach. With the 5-speed, the 4 cylinder engine is very responsive; No problems getting up to speed when needed (or wanted). I only have 3500 miles on it so I can only assume that reliability will last. This is the seventh Ford product I've owned in my life and six of them have been very reliable. Realistically, I am getting 26-28 MPG, mostly city/suburban.

Just bought an 06 Fusion V6 SEL and it was the right choice. Black exterior and interior, lots of chrome - looks sharp and it handles like the more expensive imports in this class. I'd appreciate a little more power, but the Fusion is not underpowered for most drivers.

This is a stylish comfortable sport sedan. I started out to buy the 4 cylinder, but after a test drive of the V-6, I was convinced it was for me. I am very well pleased with the overall performance of the SE V-6. It has excellent acceleration. The optional abs braking is wonderful. The ride is extremely smooth adding to the comfort for driver and passengers. It is one of the most fun cars I have ever driven.

Have had the Fusion for about a month now and have loved every mile I have put on it. Great ride, very quiet. The seats are awesome, very comfortable, almost too much so. I got the V6 and so far have averaged 28 MPG. Not bad. Only flaw is that reversing in the car is a bit of a challenge; the back seat sits high and makes for a challenge to back up. Overall though Ford has done an excellent job, totally giving Honda & Toyota a run for their money.

Wanted an SEL but none were available. Plenty happy with the SE Sport package. Got a great deal on the vehicle. Very quiet and stable going down the road. Brakes are very strong. The transmission shifts smoothly but sometimes hunts between 5th and 6th gears. Visibility out the rear window is not that great due to the high deck lid, but trunk room is enhanced due to it. Power seats and tilt/telescoping wheel add to comfort and the way I fit in the car. Sound quality of the 6-disc CD is good. Power from the 3.0 V6 is not the best but the 6 speed tranny picks the best gear to optimize acceleration. With traction control off the V6 will smoke the front tires for about 10 feet! Great car!

I bought this car 3 days ago after owning a 1999 Ford Contour Sport since new. I went to the Chevy, Pontiac, Buick and Ford dealers with no idea what I was looking for. My criteria was: needs to be a 4-door, front wheel drive, good on gas, under $25,000. I was very disappointed to see what the Big Three have to offer in my criteria range -- until I accidentally stumbled across the Fusion. This thing is beautiful to look at, Fun to drive, and very well appointed. I've had people ask, is it a Cadillac? I opted for the SEL with leather and just about every option (I recommend the ABS and Traction control package). The car is both luxurious and sporty at the same time. It has appeal for anyone.

We bought a V6 SE at first then exchanged 2 days later for SEL I researched and found for around $900, which is nothing when buying a new car, you can step up to SEL which will give you 17" wheels, auto climate control with controls on steering wheel, foglamps, automatic headlights, puddle lamps, way nicer interior and dash trim, chrome accents, compass, auto dimming heated mirrors, and much much more. Car has amazing power, I find it hard not to speed on interstates without realizing it. Fit and finish are on par with any import car, very quiet ride and upscale materials used throughout. Styling really needs the foglamps to complete the look. You can't go wrong with this car.

Wow. I got my SE V-6 Fusion a few months ago, black with tan leather interior. Coming from a guy in his 20s, I think the car looks phenomenal. I definitely get a lot of looks on the road. I like the style of the interior too (especially the offset-color stitching in the leather seats & carbon fiber in the dash). Plus it handles great and is a ton of fun to drive. The quality of fit and finish -- interior and exterior -- is very high. I've got 7k miles on my Fusion so far and I couldn't be happier. Good value for the money spent.

This is the best Ford that I have ever owned as far as quality and satisfaction are concerned. We chose it over the 500 and Escape mainly for its tight feel and zip. I wish Ford offered a stick shift in the V6, I would have jumped all over that. The only negative I see is the analog clock in the middle of the dash. Oh well, great car!

Although I have driven just over a thousand miles, I am very impressed with the Fusion. It's quiet, comfortable, and fun to drive. The V6 with six speed automatic always seems to be in the right gear and the leather seats fit me better than either the Accord EX or Camry. The driving position is great with good forward visibility - unfortunately, vision to the rear is not as good due to the high decklid which adds to the trunk volume and probably improves aerodynamics. Steering is superb with no kickback; it's difficult to tell it's FWD. I started out to buy a Honda Accord EX but ended up with the Fusion - it's that good.

We researched several different manufacturers and ended up going to the local car show. It was there that my wife drove and liked the car. When we got serious about the purchase of a new vehicle, a month later, we knew that was what we wanted. While we have less than 500 miles on it we constantly talk about all the features it has for the price. The only thing we had to adjust to is the rear window visibility being less than our other car, especially with the spoiler.

After having Hondas for ten years (great cars but not trouble free), I decided to lease a Ford Fusion. The model I ended up with is an SEL with just about every feature available. The exterior is a flawless black that looks stunning with the chrome trim. The 17 inch tires really grab the road. Rough pavement is more noticeable with these tires, so if you need a softer ride, the high profile 16 inch tires on the SE might be a better choice. The interior on my car is perfect. Leather seating is slightly larger than my Honda and very comfortable. Transmission shifts very smoothly and very quietly. No road noise. Slightly higher beltline may take some getting used to.

Spent 4 days shopping and comparing to the Camry, Altima and '05 Civic. Not even close in terms of features/performance for the price. V6 for the same price as others charging for 4 cylinders. Fun to drive! DO NOT recommend Fusion 4 cylinder. Styling is great both inside/out, ride is surprisingly smooth/quiet at highway speed. Turns heads on the street and I had a couple of folks even make a comparison to a Mercedes or Caddy! I am 6' 1", 235, still fit comfortably driving or in the rear. Managing a decent 22 MPG city, even in stop/go Houston traffic. Ours included the Safety and Security package (side airbags, alarm) as well as the SE sport (6 disc CD, etc.) package. Honestly, I've been an import driver for the last 10 years owning mostly Acura products. When it came time to replace the aging car we were looking mostly at the Mazda line (3 and 6). We rented a 6 Hatchback while home for the holidays and loved the car but it was too small in the back seat and my father in-law was too tight back there. Knowing that the Fusion was based off the same chassis, we tried that out. Great car. Loved the interior room and the layout. Decent power with more than enough in most situations. Quick kickdown on the interstate from the auto tranny. Strong brakes and a great value for the dollar. Got mine for $20K with the SE Sport package, ABS and traction control options

This is a car for driving enthusiasts who enjoy quiet comfort in a performance car. This is a car for experienced drivers. When you hit the gas you can burn rubber to your heart's delight. Acceleration is fast, very fast. Passing other cars is a breeze. Road noise is non-existent below 40 MPH or so. Over 40 MPH and you only get the tires bumping over road defects. If not for those there would be no noise. The car is simply beautiful. Fit and trim inside and out is perfect. The interior is stylish (not the same old plastic imitation burled walnut) and the doors and dash are a unique leather design. The Monsoon stereo with the 6 CD in dash in is simply awesome. To drive it is to buy.

Had read many reviews and heard about the Ford Fusion for months before I actually saw one or drove one. Test drove an I-4 (4-cylinder) SE with a 5 speed manual and really liked it, but wanted more options and to test a V-6 before buying. Drove a V-6 SEL in the rain ... got to try out acceleration and braking in less than ideal conditions. Wow -- knew this was the car I wanted. Waited for just the right color/options. It's an SEL with every possible option Ford puts in the Fusion and still only around $26K MSRP. People confuse it with an Acura until they see the big blue Ford oval! Very happy and I didn't have to pay $35-40K either. It turns a lot of heads and most can't believe it's a FORD!

I considered buying the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Nissan Altima; however I found all three of those to offer shortcomings. The Honda Accord's styling I found odd and ugly, the Toyota Camry's responses I found to be dull and slothful, and the Nissan Altima's ride was harsh and its styling looking too much like something a boy-racer would want. Then I saw the Fusion. It looked classy and sophisticated - a few people on the street thought it was a BMW until they saw the badge on the front. The car handles great, has great pep, and best of all the interior is genuinely useful - great car.

I bought the Fusion from a Ford dealer that sold it to me based on the invoice price and not the MSRP, which was $2000 more dollars. I got a top of the line silver SEL minus some features. The only features mine didn't come with is the ABS with traction assist and side safety airbags. Though, it does have the leather and moonroof along with seat warmers. The car is exceptional to drive. It handles very sporty and holds hard cornering great. It has a potent 221 horsepower v-6 that has good start out power but better midrange passing. It does all of this without compromising a nice and quiet ride. It beats my buddies 2004 Toyota Solara in all categories. Definitely worth a test drive.

Styling aside, it seems like an earnest attempt by Ford to build a solid and practical car for comfortable urban driving. Unfortunately, they are not paying attention to the fine points that their competition thrives on such as exterior finish and attention to detail -- points that have been the downfall of most domestic manufacturers since the imports started eroding their market share. Call it sloppiness or inattention, the car has obvious defects easily seen by any sighted person. Picked a new Fusion SEL two weeks ago with bad paint on the hood, an obviously deformed interior door handle, and misfit or misaligned exterior parts.

I never thought that when I could afford to buy a brand new car, it would be a Ford! I went to my local Ford dealership about a mile from my home to get my cousin's 04 Mustang the 15k mile service. A salesman walking by the service area jokingly said, "Good morning, wanna test drive something while you're waiting?" I wanted to drive the 500, but opted for the Fusion. It was love at first sight! I have extensive back/spine deterioration and have to have a seat that is comfortable and adjustable. Add leather, heated seats, one-touch sun roof, 17 inch wheels, a whole lotta pep and six speeds ... WOW! I've had my Fusion five weeks today, and the odometer has gone from 36 miles to 1,905 miles.

My other car is an '04 Ford EB Expedition and we traded in an '02 Mercury Mountaineer for this vehicle. My youngest son started following the introduction of this car back in January and got me hooked. Once gas went over $3 I knew I had to get rid of one SUV. Driver's seat is firm yet comfortable and has easy access to all features. This car looks good and handles the road very well while providing a comfortable, quiet ride, one you would expect in a more expensive car. More than adequate acceleration. and passing performance at highway speeds. Good all around visibility except with the high trunk lid, but I would not give up the trunk space, just add rear back-up sensors and moving mirrors.

Wow!

Where is Ford's marketing for such a great car? I was stunned after driving the Fusion for the first time! It looks like the big 3 are starting to get it right for once. I reluctantly traded my faithful Accord in for a Fusion 3 weeks ago and have not had one regret nor do I anticipate one. This car is awesome!

WOW!!!

Bought mine last weekend and already have 400 miles on it. Just love the way this car handles. Interior is luxurious, and has great quality materials. Thought about Camry, Accord, and Altima. This car is 10 times more fun to drive, and has a distinct look unlike any of those. First domestic car I've had in 8 years and WOW! Ford has dramatically increased quality, fit and finish, and performance.

Boring family car. Little road feel and doesn't have enough power. Key competitors have safety items like side curtain airbags and stability assist as standard equipment but these are options or not available on the Fusion. Is it built to last? The warranty is only 3 years with only 5 years rust through protection.

Adequate performance & excellent handling. Stops on a dime. Quality of interior and exterior greatly improved compared to previous Ford products. Quick off the line if you smash the pedal to utilize the high gear. Midrange passing power is satisfactory but needs improving. Virtually no body lean when taking corners and the big tires on the SEL eat the pavement to satisfy its driver. Climate control on the SEL model is very quiet and the redundant climate and audio controls located on the steering is a ergonomic blessing. Suspension is superb giving you a rigid and quiet ride. Plenty of front and rear seat room and front seats are comfortable. Finally, headrests that are comfortable.

The first Fusion was mine!

I generally don't get excited with American cars. I drove the Fusion and immediately leased one. It reminds me of the Taurus SHO in handling and performance & oh yeah ... 30 MPG or so with a trunk I could camp out in. They even made the seats comfortable. Toyota hasn't figured out how to do that yet!
