Great room without sitting up on the air like most SUVs. Very comfortable, especially on long trips. Does have a bad blind spot on drivers side rear. Plenty of power but because of transmission it is deceiving. Can not feel transmission change gears with CVT. Plenty of room in back seat but 3rd row is for toddlers or small kids only. Loads of room with 3rd row laid flat.

One of the best vehicles I've owned

My daughter bought this vehicle used and had 80,000 miles. She drove it and put 100,000 miles on it. I got it at 180,000 miles and now have 197,000 miles on it. It's not a drag racer (but it can get up and go when needed) and it's rather plain looking when compared to other wagons and SUV's but it's got clean lines and has a solid feel on the road. My only complaint (daughters too), is the air conditioner. It stops pumping out cool air when the vehicle is idling. Unfortunately dealers do not repair things anymore. They want to replace the system ($2,200 plus). From my research I've learned it's a valve and/or spring, located under a plate at the rear of the compressor, and that the problem exists in other Ford models that use the same compressor. I guess dealers make more money, without breaking a sweat, by replacing the big parts only. The CVT took some getting used to, but it's not given me, or my daughter any problems. I'm looking to keep my Freestyle until it gets to the 250,000 mile mark - or sooner if I croak.

do not buy this car ,it has a lot of problem : transmission dies fast , i drove only 20,000 miles and the transmission broke i took it to the dealer and he wanted to charge me 7,000 dollars plus $4,000 for labor.this it happened to my friend too .this car has a lot of sensors problem.it's comfortable inside and it has very nice look every body like it but when you buy it you will face the truth.if you want to waist your money and all your saving money buy it. it's baaaaaaad car.

THE CLOTHE SEATS WILL STAIN EVEN IF YOU SPILL WATER ON THEM! This is the #1 complaint of this car. I read some reviews before I bought it in 2008. Literally tried all types of cleaner for car seats and NONE of them have taken the stains out. Even spilled water left a stain. Since owning it 7 years I've replaced 2 a/c compressors. Normal brake jobs and it will tell you when to change the oil which is a good thing for maintenance. The other problem is some of the plastic hardware (i.e. compartment to hold garage door opener) broke a couple of years ago and now will not stay shut. Some of the lettering on the radio has worn off. The continuous transmission took some getting used too but it will get up and go when you need it. It doesn't have enough "power supplies" for all the gadgets now days. It has been a good car but now that kids are getting older and bigger and two dogs, long trips are unbearable due to size of car.

Our 2006 Freestlye had 65,000 miles on it. Just paid it off. Transmission died without any warning. Dead in the middle of the street. Called the dealer, they said that they don't make that transmission anymore so they would have to find a rebuilt one. and it will cost $7,000+! We thought that was a bit high, so we called around and every place told us the same or that they wouldn't even attempt it. Great. Talked to Ford and they offered to pay for $3,000 of the repair cost. Still a very expensive fix for a car with only 65,000 miles. They warrantied the transmission for another 50,000 miles. But we sold it within a few months since I was too paranoid to drive it very far from home.

I love this car - I purchased in in 2009 from a dealer with 50,000ish miles on it. There was one issue with the transmission 3 years ago that was repaired by the ford dealership for free because it was a recall issue, other than that, I have replaced the tires twice and the breaks once...just last month...My Gypsy as I call her - the GPS is very outdated LOL - now has 192000 miles and is still going pretty strong. I get my oil changed every 5K miles and use high mileage oil and that's it - I love driving a worry free vehicle. My only issue is they don't make them anymore and I have no idea what to replace her with when her time finally is up - I just hope that's not for another 200K :-) unfortunately someone ran a stop sign and totaled my Gypsy - the good new is as hard as she hit me no one was injured. I wish Ford still made this vehicle - I would buy it again and again...I would never own anything else.

Fun to drive. Holds six people very well. Had problem with throttle body that Ford repaired. Car has 110K miles and is still handling very well. No issues, as others have said, with brakes. I am happy with this car, and have owned it ten years. Only problem is with ventilation system in that passengers in the rear seating area do not get cool in the summer heat (I live where it very often gets over 100 F.) Excellent sized SUV.

While I have to admit that this car has made it over 200K miles, it hasn't been without a lot of work, stress, and burning money. I received this as a gift from my uncle mid-2010 and the car already had over 150K miles on the clock. Within the first 18 months, the engine block cracked and had to be replaced. Shortly after that the starter died and had to be replaced. Fast forward 6 months and the power steering line springs a leak because the Ford service techs bent the elbow joint. Fixed that and then the ignition switch starts to glitch. I just replaced a wheel hub, compressor, and the drive belt a couple days ago. So far, the only part that hasn't failed or started failing is the CVT.

Purchased it used with 80,000kms {50,000miles} on it. Drove it for about 2 years then was written off when someone smashed into it. It was hit when it had 155,000kms {97,500miles}. No major issues. Maintained regularly. Drove it across Canada & the US without any issues. Awesome fuel mileage too for a vehicle of it's size. Wish we would have bought another to be honest. Only issue we had was the fault of the garage; we had the fuel filter replaced and they didn't put one clip back on which cases the gas line to pop off at the filter. The garage covered the tow, put another new filter and get new clips and installed them; no issues otherwise.

Watch out

Bought used 6 months ago a 2006 Ford Freestyle SE AWD with CVT. Power steering pump went I had it replaced. Two weeks later rack and pinion steering making noise, took it in to have it looked at and he said the following, the front sub frame on your car is completely rotted out and is unsafe to drive. The sub frame was replaced at a cost of $1000.00 plus labor (used sub frame). The rest of the frame is strong. The sub frame must have been rotted for years. This is a six year old car! All I can say congrats to the drunk or stoned UAW workers who put this car together. You must be happy, you must have had a good laugh. By the way, the front brakes needed replacing and a caliper was seized.

This is the worst vehicle FORD has ever made and BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT buy the Freestyle. First, the brakes have to be replaced every 6 months, the throttle has been replaced 2X and I'm still having problems, not to mention the transmission. I will buy a Nissan, Toyota, Honda, or anything besides an American made car ever again.

Bought the car used from the person who drove it off the lot new. It had been maintained exceptionally well. Started lunging in reverse about 5 months after we got it. A few weeks later I got in the car and it was making a horrid sound, felt like I was trying to drive in first and it was dragging. First part needed isn't available anymore. Mechanic - rightfully so - doesn't want to buy a used or reconditioned transmission as it seems to be such a chronic issue with these cars - so Ford and their service department will be getting $6000 to replace the bloody thing. That's more than half what we owe on the car. I'm absolutely sick about it. I have never had such a money pit.

DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE!!!

Up until five years ago I had not purchased an American car in more than 15 years. For me, the quality of Honda's automobiles cannot be matched. Having said that, 5 years ago I decided to give Ford a shot due to all of the press stating that "Ford was back" and the quality of their vehicles had improved. Not! I have had nothing but problems with my Freestyle since buying it new in 2006. Crappy brakes, CVT transmission problems, throttle body problems, etc. My first bad experience happended while on vacation more than 1,000 miles from home when it broke down while we were on the expressway. And in my experiences, the Ford dealers service centers are the worst in the industry.

We bought our 2006 Freestyle SEL AWD new and have enjoyed driving the car. It gives a smooth, quiet ride. As another owner says, it turns from a passenger hauler to a cargo hauler in minutes. I do wish it got better gas mileage, but it is AWD.

This WAS a great family car. Everyone loved taking trips in it either down the road or across the state. The interior isn't the most fashionable, but it's comfortable and easy to clean. That was until the "bulletproof" CVT went out. No problems at all up until this point, but now one MAJOR problem offsets everything else that didn't go wrong. What's worse, everyone I've spoken to who either owns or fixes these has had the SAME PROBLEM! Shouldn't America's only real car company step up and do the right thing?!? Where's the recall?

I have owned this car for 4 years and had planned to pay it off and keep it. I just found out the transmission is bad and needs to be replaced for $4500.00. Ford is taking no responsibility and is unwilling to admit that it has a problem with transmissions. I plan on ditching this car as soon as I can. I hear there are more repairs down the road. Do not buy until ford fixes its transmission problems once and for all!

I had car Certified, 3 mos. b/b warranty, 100,000 engine, tranny warranty. Bought every available warranty. Relative is mechanic at our local dealership. At 51,000 miles throttle body malfunctioned cost $800.00 to replace. Not under warranty. In April 2009 during routine maintenance oil leak in AC Compressor was detected, must be replaced for a cost of 1,200. Ford keeps the throttle body in stock, 2 week backlog on air compressor, should tell you something. Says tranny is a problem for this car too. Disabled, cannot afford these costly repairs. Where is the accountability Ford? Don't buy this car unless you can afford the repairs! If you get a good one count your blessings!

ALERT ALERT-Do not buy a Ford Freestyle! FORD; you need to recall this car to replace the throttle body in all models at FORD's expense. A $900 repair on a car this young and with such low milage is an engineering problem, not a normal repair. To make matters worse, I brought the car in while still under warranty with the same problem. Service charged me $148.00 to run the diagnostic test on the computer and said it needed a tweak. I now know why. FORD didn't want to pay for a new throttle body. After completing my research on this problem, I found dozens of others with same the problem. Shame on you FORD. Fixed Or Repaired Daily.

Ford Freestyle was bought for safety as I do a lot of Highway driving. Since last October car was in for problems 6 times, electrical system failed, rear brakes completely shot, last week fuel pressure hose went, car was a death trap, gas spewing out of the bottom. Roadside assistance which we paid extra for wouldn't take it with fuel leak. Dealership was terrible with what they wanted to give us back on this car. I would never again in my life buy a Ford car of any description

We've had one problem, the throttle body, which has been somewhat common. Had to wait on the part because of the collapse of the auto industry. This has been the only issue we have had with the car. The problem only existed when we idled for long periods and when it was hot outside. It is very reliable and comfortable on trips. I have four kids and we all fit with comfort. It is about as safe as a car can get, and all-in-all a great purchase. Too bad no one else figured out how good these cars are. May not be beauties, but they are great for families that need space.

Bought this car new. Traded an 2005 Caravan which was a huge disappointment. The Freestyle is the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned. It converts from a comfortable people hauler to cargo hauler in seconds. Very comfortable road car. Decent gas mileage. After 70K+ miles, only on second set of tires and they have pleanty of tread left. No problems whatever with this car. Comfort, ride and power is more than adequate. Climate control system controls are small and hard to see and adjust while underway. Living in Maine, the AWD is a necessity and works great. There is no stopping this vehicle in snow. CVT has worked perfectly with no issues. This is a great car.

Love how it behaves on a highway! Very steady! We have friends coming over all the time, and we leave their car by our house-and leave all together in this 7 passenger! Love it! I just sold another car and my wife asking if I want to get the same one for myself! :) never knew Ford was this good until tried it out myself! All 5 stars! Way to go Ford!

I purchased the Freestyle new in 2006. I love the Freestyle! I love the styling cues of an SUV mixed with a stationwagon. I would have loved to seen a "wood" panel addition. This car is an excellent traveler! We drove it from NC to OK and enjoyed every mile. I can't believe I'm actually thinking of keeping this car and paying it off! That has NEVER happened to me! My average mpg is 23 miles per gallon. I have never achieved the advertised "500 miles per tank". Still it gets better gas mileage than any other SUV's or vans this size! I got the CVT trans model. I wish I had gotten a regular trans instead. The CVT has a towing capacity of 2k, while the reg trans had a 3k

My husband and I purchased this vehicle two years ago (1 1/2 yrs old at the time) as a trade-in for a Ford Mustang. We were quite please with it until this year. We replaced all tires at 38,000 miles (Oct.), an alternator at 39,000 miles (Nov.) and I just broke down on the highway three days before Christmas, only to find that the transmission needs to be replaced! The car has 40,000 miles on it and of course it's past the 3yr./36,000 miles warranty by 5 months and 4,000 miles!!! Even the dealerships said it shouldn't go that soon, yet Ford seemed unwilling to help us. I registered a formal complaint and will be following up. No more Fords. My Corolla is 10 yrs old and no problems!

I have owned my Freestyle for 4 years and have accumulated almost 100,000 miles. I drive 70 miles a day round trip to work averaging 25 miles per gallon, but up to 30 on the freeway. However, I am on my fourth set of tires. Putting SUV/truck tires on will make them last longer. This crossover is just too heavy for car tires. Because of my milage the trade-in value does not equal the actual value...

Really liked this car until this January, at 39k miles high pitch whine coming from the engine. Dealership had the car for 1 month, we did get a rental, but they wanted to replace the transmission and Ford had them rebuild it. So they did and now we're now at 55k miles and we're having the same issue. Waiting on the dealership's word on repairs. Under warranty in January, still warrantied now. But looking at our options to offload it. I would not recommend buying a used Freestyle with the CVT!

I love my Freestyle!Nothing but luck with Fords! Bought brand new after my husband convinced me to test drive it when I was determined for an Explorer! I don't understand how people can say this car has no go! I am surprised I have not gotten a ticket! It rides so smooth that you look down and realize you are going 15 over the speed limit. Roomy for 6 adults & we use it all the time for camping!Features are great! My husband is a mechanic and checked with other mechanics at the dealership to see if there were major issues. To date we have 47,000 mile with just regular maintenance.Commute 70miles to wk avg 23-25 mpg in stop-go traffic;Round town avg 19-22 mpg; Long distance hwy 24-27mpg!

Had our 2006 Freestyle 2wd for a year now. Bought used in 2008. Very reliable after driving it from 24k miles to 46k miles. Takes the family everywhere in comfort without being so bulky as a minivan. Second row seats 6'+ adults very comfortably. Third row offers plenty of leg room, and seats 5'8" adults comfortably. Decent in snow, in spite of being 2wd. Nimble enough off road. Rugged compared to crossover SUVs. Excellent vehicle, would recommend.

The good thing that I personally love about this car is, well every thing it has enough power, room, dvd player, even climate control. I have driven over 60,000 kms and still have 4% on the front and 7% in the rear. Now, all my tires are worn more than the other but its not an alignment problem its how much I haul more weight in one corner.

We replaced our 1994 Aerostar with the 2006 Freestyle SE in 2007 and have not been disappointed at all. It offers a very smooth, comfortable, and quiet ride. We average 20 mpg in town and about 22-24 on the highway. The steering is tight, but can turn on a dime. The only problem we have had is with the second row seating getting stuck and not always wanting to fold flat. Overall we are very pleased with the performance and absolutely love the CVT transmission! The vehicle had 32,000 miles when we bought it and now has 41,000. To those reviewers who say the vehicle has no power I am at a loss as to why because it moves when you want or need it to and it doesn't hesitate.

Purchased it new, mostly hauling stuff and occasional people. Only problem was the brake recall. Only service - minor front end work, new tires (too early, imho) and regualr services when the change oil light comes on. I did buy the extended service from Ford, so I hope the tranny fails before 75K if it does at all. Oh and if you drive it carefully you can get 25+mpg on the highway at 65mph. I know because I have done it.

If I were buying a new crossover, I would certainly consider the Mazda CX9 first. The new Chevy/Buick Enclave second. The Freestyle (now the Taurus X) lacks serious driving and performance refinement. No matter how conservatively you drive it, you can sit and watch the gas gage go down. My only hope is that I can trade it in under the cash for clunkers act.

I bought my '06 Freestyle about a year with 24k on it and have put another 20k on it since. I love the CVT and how smooth it rides and the engine has more than enough power. Most of my driving is highway and the engine moves my Freestyle faster than any other car I had. The inerior is beautiful and all the features make it feel like a much more expensive car. All these bad reviews are full of it because I am still riding on my same brakes, CVT and Continental tires with no problems. Overall I love everything about my Freestyle and as of 40k don't have anyhting to complain about.

Clean exterior styling, massive cargo space in a mid size vehicle, peppy CVT transmission. Freestyle doesn't stand out on a spec sheet but it does the things I purchased it for really well. Carrying a family of four and lots of outdoor gear in comfort in all conditions. We have been in Sierra blizzards, carried the in laws (with the extra 2 seats in the back), hauled 3 kayaks with camping gear and have been happy with the performance. Fuel economy in cruise is around 22 mpg which is pretty good for an AWD that weighs 5000 lbs

I bought this car to get away from the high gas prices of my Ford Explorer. The car has great room. It seats 7. Comfort level is ok. I do not think of this car as stylish. However, it does fine on gas for the size. I WON'T buy this car again because my TRANSMISSION is now having to be replaced. Absolutely ridiculous for a 3 yr old car with 57k miles. Since Ford had the 3yr/36,000 warranty, I am having to pay for the repairs myself. I will not buy another Ford car again.

I'm commenting to mostly straighten out a misconception. The Freestyle is not slow, with a bad motor. It is fast, with a proven reliable motor. Edmunds review of the same year Chrysler Pacifica says "Acceleration is a little soft from a standstill, but once the 3.5-liter V6 gets its wind, the vehicle moves out quickly." "Moves out quickly"?!?! The Freestyle beats this car in acceleration, yet the Edmunds review of the FS says that its major downfall is power. If you press the gas all the way down on this car, hang on! I don't have to do that hardly ever, as the power is fine for anyone not used to driving muscle cars. Get real edmunds.

This car was great because I didn't want to get into a minivan! It had plenty of room for the kids and their things. The brakes have been replaced 4 times and the routers 3 times! Almost every inspection I have failed because I needed new breaks! They have been recalled, but there is no permanent fix! Very frustrating! Also the power steering fluid has been "leaking" I have already gotten it fixed twice, but it seems to keep having a problem. It sounds like a remote control car turning corners! If they could fix that i would be very happy with my car.

I commute on a regular basis with 4 teenagers in the car. There is plenty of room and everyone is comfortable. I also live in Rochester, NY. Snow has been no problem with this "truck", I recently slid on black ice and no damage was done to my vehicle. Mileage is not that bad either for the size, I maintain 22-24 MPG. I would reccomend this car to anyone with kids. I regularly have 6-7 people in the car and there are few fights between the kids and that's saying a lot with my crew!

Average 21 MPG in local travel, don't get much highway use. Rivals any AWD/4WD vehicle we every owned in sloppy conditions. Hope Ford just keeps refining and building this vehicle.

My wife bought this car new to carry kids/dog/groceries and liked the third seat and the gas mileage. Didn't get the AWD to get better gas mileage, although we should have. At 31,000 miles, the transmission failed in heavy traffic, freeway driving in a driving rain. Suddenly in neutral and no forward power after a catastrophic weld failure in the CVT trasnmission. Thankfully under warranty but repairs would have been $3500. Now forced to trade the car or buy the extended warranty for $2000. Would not buy another one.

It needs its rear brakes changed for the 3rd time and the rotors redone for the 2nd time! It's going to cost another $400. They were just changed 22,000 miles ago. The rear door handles were also recalled because when it gets too cold they would pop open while driving. The O ring in the transmission had to be replaced with less 100 miles on it. When it rains water drips from the passenger visor screw hole and they can't find the source.

Enjoy the ride of the vehicle. A lot of people don't know what it is though. I got the base model without leather. Cloth seats do stain easily and aren't easy to clean without making water stains. It does have rear AC/heat. Added on the DVD system and second row center console after I purchased it. So it's basically a next level up from base now. Was extremely disappointed in gas mileage though. Sticker stated 22/28. Commercials stated 500 miles to a tank of gas. I've never experienced 28 mpg or that many miles to a tank. What I do enjoy about the car is the versatility of it. It's a great person carrier. Is very comfortable to travel in. Love the smooth as silk CVT transmission.

There is a center console for all their stuff and to stash diapers as well. I really like the memory seating for the driver's seat. It also remembers where your mirror were as well. My lease is up on my 2006 Freestyle. I found the Freestyle while shopping for a smaller alternative to my Lexus 470 (yes Lexus). I have loved this car everyday. There is nothing and I mean nothing you cannot fit in it within reason. It has been comfortable beyond belief, reliable as ever, my Infiniti M45 had more electrical problems even turning off at 55+ mph. I am now patiently waiting for my new Flex to arrive. I trust and love Ford for building such a great car. It makes me sad to give up my old friend Freestyle. I hope it goes to a good home to someone who will love and embrace it like I did. But with the loss I am gaining what I think will be the most exciting Ford now offered.

This car was okay. For hauling around little kids and their junk, just get a minivan, this is not a substitute. Mileage was pretty decent and I liked the size. The interior finishes were cheap. The third row seat was alright for occasional use, but swallowed all cargo space. We had two 6 foot plus, 250 pound people in the third row and it was actually okay. However, at 40,000 miles and only 2 years old the transmission needed to have major work done, to the tune of $2,000. Not happy. Traded it in on a Honda Odyssey. I am sad to be driving my first non-ford, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I can just feel that the Odyssey is going to be a much better long term vehicle.

I bought my 06 Freestyle new in Florida. Love driving the car, and hauling 5 kids (in carseats) in it. Only issues with car is the rubber door molding keeps falling off, the rear brakes need replacement again (replaced under warranty at 26000 mi) at 52000 miles (Front pads are original), and vehicle goes into "reduced power mode" anytime it gets a bad sensor reading. This means the RPM's won't go over 2500 and 0-60 times are around 30 sec. Last time it happened, I turned off the car and restarted it to fix. The time before that I had to replace the air filter (no, it was not the orig.) Also, occasionally, the engine will surge in reverse making it difficult to not hit something.

We bought our Freestyle 2wd used with 32,000 miles on it. Needed more space than the Taurus we had to haul things. Recent trip from N. Indiana to St. Louis on interstate got 26-27 mph doing 70-75 mph. Do that with most SUV's. Real versatile with seating and hauling. Slight hesitation on exceleration (like a turbo lag), but hang on when the engine revs and the trany adjusts for the need. First trip was from N. Indiana to Mackinac Island 4 adults, 2 bikes on the back, loaded, doing 75 mph on interstate and some 2 lane driving - and got over 23 mph - super. Brakes are not a problem. Still have originals at 53000. Anyone going through them fast needs to change their driving habits.

From the moment I sat in my Ford Freestyle I knew it was the right van for me! As time has gone on I only have one complaint "the interior fabric on the seats are terrible!" Having 2 children it seems impossible to keep the car seats clean! When it rains and I open my door to get in and some rain drops hit my seat, oh well there is another stain! The smallest amount of water leaves a big water spot! In the last 2 years I have spent over $400 getting the seats cleaned. Other than the fabric, I love my Freestyle!

With about 10,000 miles, we haven't had this into the dealership for anything other than oil changes. Coming from a '01 Honda minivan, this AWD wagon feels much more secure and quite. The third row seat is a great alt to a minivan, fairly easy exit/entry. 3rd row can fold flat for hauling. CVT trans is fine with me, not sure why people complain about it, it gets good MPG for such a large vehicle. Highly recommended.

I enjoy this car except for 3 problems: (1) The two wheel drive is the worst and most helpless front wheel drive car I have ever driven in the snow. There is too much power to drive wheels causing wheel to spin easily. (2)I started out averaging about 22 mpg in the city and 25-27 mpg on the highway. It now has taken a turn down word to 18 city and 21-23 Hwy (according to vehicle display). This is not what was promised. (3) The vehicle trade in value towards a new car was insultingly low - $13,800.

I couldn't ask for more with a cold-natured fiance. I am usually rougher on cars than most so leather would be a bad option for me. The ride is a bit noisy on the highway but not bad. Back in 2005 when these first came out we test drove one, and loved it. But at that point there was no reason to get rid of my 1997 Chevy S10 Blazer. Then we started having trouble with the Blazer and it was time to replace it. We test drove multiple other cars, to see if we found something we liked better - but could not. For the price and the sized vehical it was a awsome deal. I would recommend this vehicle to just about anyone with a family. We just got back from a trip from Michigan to Buffalo, NY - and it was awsome both ways! Had 6 people in the car and had plenty of power for everything.

Very nice car which I am replacing with a TaurusX. We have had no problems with this vehicle since leasing it in 2005. It is comfortable, well designed and gets very good gas mileage for such a large vehicle. It has plenty of pep once it gets going but a little slow when accelerating from a stop.

Great car, not a luxury car but much more suited for people with children and grandchildren. Comfortable, great gas mileage, handles like a dream fun to drive. Much better looking than a van, better gas mileage than the Jeep Grand Laredo I traded in for it. I was hesitant about trading my Jeep in on the Freestyle, even felt guilty about it. But the extra room and the great gas mileage have made me glad I made the switch even though the Jeep never gave me a problem in all its 150,000 miles. Here,s to getting 150,000 miles or more out of my Freestyle

We purchased our Freestyle in 8/06 and were initially very pleased with it. It handled well and looked sharp. The kids loved it too. We had problems, though, with the dashboard lights (fuel cap, check engine, etc.) going on and off. Finally the worst happened July 7th. While riding on the NJ Turnpike, our transmission died. We were shocked (but thankfully safe). The car had only 12,800 miles. The transmission needed to be replaced and we were using a rental for two weeks. Ford didn't even reimburse us for all of our expenses. The car is back and is running fine. I'm very disappointed with Ford, though. I thought they would take better care of us throughout this ordeal.

I am always taking my kids to their next activity. We have plenty of room for travel, friends, equipment. Gas mileage stays around 20mpg in the city which I consider to be good. Going on a long to Florida this summer we never got better gas mileage than 21.2. If you buy this car you will love it for its room and comfort, but don't expect 27 mpg on the highway. I would buy it again.

It does not make sense to me why people have to buy a more expensive SUV like a Benz when they can get a Ford Freestyle. My 2006 Freestyle SEL has got everything I need to drive in comfort, safety and economy. This CUV is recommended by the Consumers Reports magazine and its reliability rating is way better than a those CUV with double the price. It has a very pleasing exterior design. Not too aggressive like a Murano, and not too dull like a Honda Pilot. It drives like a small car and the view is like a penthouse on the road. People complain about the dashboard reflection issue but not really a problem. A bit noisy like a tiger when climbing up the hill but I like it like it is.

For a family of four with two car seats this car is great. The car offers ample passenger and cargo space in all configuations. Additionally changing seating/cargo configurations is very quick and easy. It's a great cross between a station wagon and SUV without sacrificing comfort, road handling, or visibility. In addition it has great fuel economy for its cargo and passenger capacity. If you have a fairly big family and don't need to tow much weight this is the an excellent choice.

I was at the dealership looking for an Expedition or Explorer when the salesman pointed out the Freestyle, and I am glad he did. I bought the last 2006 the dealer had, it was on the showroom floor. Mine has AWD, extra airbags, safety and security option, rear AC, 60/40 middle seat, individual climate controls up front. It is dark Pearl Blue with a pebble interior. The car has a low center of gravity and is fun to drive and handlles really well.

The rear brakes are not fit for purpose. After only 30,000KM the rear brakes started grinding. The pads were finished and the disks were scored. What a joke! My last car, a Honda Accord needed front pads only after 100,000KM and rear pads after 160000KM. No rotors changed. Is Ford going to recall this car and fit rear brakes which are 'Fit For Purpose'

My wife and I just purchased our new Freestyle limited addition back in Dec 06 and I have to say we love it. I wanted an SUV that I could fit in and at 6.4 and 270lbs that's not easy to find sometimes but this vehicle was everything we wanted and more, it's comfortable to ride in, easy to drive and it was loaded. Our son loves the rear DVD player and most of all I had plenty of room! There was no more of this getting out of my vehicle and my knee was on the ground or up on the dash as I was driving. The Freestyle was just the right fit for our family and our budget, I don't think I could have purchased something else this nice and loaded for what we paid for it, I'm very happy with it.

Bought a used 2006 Freestyle with 11k miles. It was a former lease and we had been looking for a wagon instead of mini van or SUV. My wife loves the Freestyle, so we focused on purchasing one. Have had it for 1 week now and it rides wonderfully, it has a great transmission, but the one thing I noticed, and this seems true for all Fords, is that the disc brakes stink. They do not hold up well; when we looked at used Freestyles, every one of them needed brake jobs by 10k miles. Mine was done at 11k before I bought the car. Ford needs to do something about the brakes. I purchased brake dust shields as the pads shed dust terribly, you can get a set for about $75.

Since buying my Freestyle in June 06, I am now taking it in to have the door weather stripping replaced on the passenger side for the second time. I bought this vehicle to accommodate my three kids. They get in and out of the passenger side daily. It has been two months since the first replacement of the weather stripping. Now we're back again. The stripping cracks and then pulls away from the frame. If this vehicle is supposed to be durable for kids, Ford needs to go back to the drawing board to address this issue.

Family loves the car and its features but this car just isn't performing as I had hoped. Quality issues have been plentiful. Improper alignment from the factory caused both front tires to wear after 12k miles, speedometer head had to be replaced at 5k miles (took 5 days and had to have a rental), brake light sensor has been replaced twice and rear door trim continually came loose. Gas mileage is also far from Ford's claim. We get about 15MPG with mostly city driving. Our 2001 Highlander gets almost 20MPG city.

We have had our Freestyle for over a year now and we are still loving it. With the exception of the rear brakes wearing out prematurely we have had no issues. There seems to be a lot of negativity regarding the amount of power the engine has but I have not had any complaints in this regard. I'll be honest it's no sports car but then again this is a family car not a bachelor/mid life crisis mobile. The calls for a larger V8 engine in my opinion would kill one of this cars strongest points, its gas mileage. I challenge anyone to find a vehicle with as much interior space as this one that gets as good of gas mileage.

Originally I was going to wait for the new engine and 6 speed automatic, but I needed a vehicle and Ford was giving them away with 0% financing. Not disappointed, the MPG is at least as good as the Escape we have and if you do a lot of driving on relatively flat roads while using the cruise, the engine computer seems to fine tune the rpm to the engine load and the MPG is great. The rest of the vehicle is very good, although we are still getting used to the front and rear automatic climate control. Haven't read the manual yet to fully understand it.

Thank goodness for customer review sites like this one. We were shopping for a 6-7 passenger vehicle but did not want a big SUV or a van. When we were in Italy this year we rented a 6 passenger wagon and we were hooked. As soon as we got back to the USA we started shopping for a 6-7 passenger wagon. Ford Freestyle offered a spectacular car. It is easy to park and drive and seats 7 very nicely. The gas mileage is much better than my Explorer.

But the room I have and the fuel economy are better than I hoped for. The kids no longer fight about who's touching who. Sure, some people ask me if it will ever grow up to be REAL SUV, but that's not why I got it. ROOM! plus fuel economy. I think I got both... now let's hope the reliability is good. I am concerned about this new CVT.

I never dreamed I could actually enjoy a "non-performance" car so much. I bought this vehicle strictly for practical purposes and expected to find it to be ho-hum. It is so comfortable, responsive, and agile that I find myself thinking of it as a fun vehicle after all. My criteria when I bought was that it hold six passengers with some degree of comfort. With high gas prices we wanted a family vehicle that would carry our extended family without having to take two cars. We all, from my 86 year old mother-in-law to my two-year-old grandson, choose the Freestyle even when we don't need the extra room. On top of that, it converts for cargo so easily, I often use it instead of the truck.

Just got my '06 Freestyle this weekend. I went in looking for an Escape but as I was walking by the Freestyle my head did one of those whip around things. Unlike some who think the Freestyles exterior is dull, I actually like its looks. Then I discovered the functionality of the interior. But, I reserved my buying decision until I test drove it. True it's not going to beat a lot of similar sized vehicles off the mark, but that's not what it's designed for. I've owned mostly Chryslers, Chevys, and Beemers, but I can't think of one of them with a smoother tranny than the Freestyle. My only concern is long-term durability, but we'll see about that.

Ford's only problem with this vehicle is that it doesn't have the ad budget that Ford puts on its other vehicles. We drove a lot of suv's and crossover vehicles. The first thing we noticed is the ease of getting in and out of the vehicle. You don't climb in, you just get in. Ours has every option I could dream up. If you have kid, get the dvd option, it makes long trips much more bearable. I did a lot of research on this vehicle before we bought it, the only real comparative/negative that I could find was it was under powered compared to other crossovers, (Buick Rendezvous, and Chrysler Pacifica). We drove those. With the Freestyles CVT transmission it doesn't need 245hp. Passing is scary fast.

I think the Freestyle is a great alternative to a SUV since I do not go off road or need to tow. It is very comfortable and the smooth AWD is just what I need here in the mountains in Durango, CO. I recently took a 5,000 mile trip throughout the mid-west and the vehicle performed marvelously. I do not understand the knock on the engine; I find the power quite adequate on the highway and in the mountains. 23 miles/gallon is much better than 15-18 on an SUV, and we must start thinking of conservation. I think the Freestyle is a Volvo in disguise with perhaps less power and craftsmanship.

Great for someone with kids, pooches and/or travelers. Gas mileage is very good, interior features are convenient, AWD gets you easily out of mud or snow, higher seating makes for better visibility. It makes driving fun again. If you can afford it, get the GPS system which I find myself using not just for trips but also local travel. If you are looking for a fun and practical vehicle, I highly recommend the Ford Freestyle.

I really enjoy driving this replacement for our Ford Aerostar. We were concerned about losing the roominess of our van but when I drove this against the Pacifica and reviewed other wagons there was no comparison to the functionality of the space. I drove 3 hours daily (on avg. 200 miles) for the first 2 months that we owned the vehicle. Most days I drove my Audi 100 (1989) that had better gas mileage but I looked forward to the days that I drove the Freestyle. I read that Ford has sold a bit more than 45k since 2005 but ear-marked sales at 100k and thus feel that they have missed their goals. I say great because when I see other people who have made this great choice I flash my lights!

And we are all comfortable in it along with dog, husband and stuff. I especially think this time the overall quality seems superior to the Windstar. I have had my Freestyle for 7 months. I really love the styling because it gives you the ride of a car but the feeling and styling of an SUV. There is plenty of interior room and comfort. The 3rd row seat is suitable for an adult. The stadium seating allows my kids to see the exterior view without being blocked. I always get remarks about what a great looking car it is. I'm one of those people who will not (typically) consider purchasing an American car. I normally buy Honda's. However, with the price of a base model Honda Pilot selling for over $28,000, I did my homework and found a LOADED Freestyle for about the same money. What a nice car! It has everything we were looking for (3rd row seating, dvd player, leather, etc.) without having to purchase a large SUV or a minivan. We love this vehicle! My only complaint is the fact that the roof rails are not made to hold anything; they are there simply there for aesthetic value. Basically, the roof rails are unable to accommodate a roof luggage/cargo carrier.

I went from a Kia to Freestyle. We wanted a van, but this vehicle here has everything we need. From the power to storage space to the cup holders even has a great sound system. The bonus about this vehicle is that it got a 5 star safety award which saved me a lot on my insurance. I just want who ever is in charge and who ever designed this vehicle to know, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You. My 5 year old daughter Thanks you for all the room.

The Ford Freestyle is our first-ever American car. My wife chose it over the Pilot, Outback and Freelander. This car is the 21st century vehicle that fills the gap in the market left by Volvo years ago when they discontinued the 240DL wagon and moved upmarket. The Freestyle is well-built, sensible, spacious, stylish but not flashy, and yes, boxy. Despite the unassuming profile, strangers check it out and friends ask *lots* of questions. We love this car so far. Gas mileage is good. 3rd row seat is spacious and comfortable. The ride is great-good stability, nice brakes, smooth transmission. Even the dog appreciates the low trunk after jumping in & out of an SUV for years.

I just love driving this car!

Every time I get behind the wheel of my beautiful blue car, I can't help but smile. I love the stereo controls, etc. on the steering wheel, the handling, the little touches like the mirror for viewing the back seat, the storage capacity, how easy it is to fold the seats down, and how great it has been on several long trips. My daughter just loves to sit in the 3rd row seat with her friends. We have had no problems with the car and have put 8500 miles on it so far! This car just feels like it is solidly built.

Great car. Very spacious inside yet doesn't feel big when driving. It's kinda a mix between a minivan and SUV. You get the family friendly features of a minivan with the looks of an SUV. Gas mileage better than an SUV 27Hwy. This is the perfect cool family car.

Researched many vehicles, Crossover/SUV's, but for the price could not beat the Freestyle. Interior does not look plastic. It is finished off nicely. Very comfortable and roomy. Power is more than adequate and handling is superb. Fun to drive. Only drawback I have found, there is a reflection of the dash in the windshield during the daylight hours. I can live with it. Great car, Ford should push it more then they do. They have a winner here.

My wife and I were looking at the Pacifica, when we stumbled across a Ford Freestyle. Until that time I've never seen or heard of this vehicle. My wife took if for a test drive, fell in love with the handling and roominess of the interior. Admittedly I wasn't sold on the SUV until I started driving it. Now I have no regrets. The Freestyle is roomy and handles great. Impressed with the quite ride and comfortable. I'm sold!

We were looking for a SUV that would give us good gas mileage and be high enough that my wife could see the traffic better. My wife is 5' and we were looking for a seat that would adjust high enough for her so that she could see. Plus we needed the lumbar support for both front seats. Ford is the only dealer that had it all. They surprised us also by giving us 0% financing for 5 years plus $1000 cash back. The whole experience was enjoyable, no pressure at all.

My wife love to drive the Freestyle, she like everything about it. She drove a Freestar for 5 years SEL over 150,000. What I have a problem is the seat. I thought should be a little better. The passenger seat should be like the driver's seat. Also I'm 6 foot and with the seat back there's not much room for a man behind me. Also gas mpg is not what I expected.

I had been researching and test driving various SUVs for over one year. I was looking for something with the comfort and versatility of a minivan, good gas mileage and not too big. Also didn't want to spend too much. The Freestyle is a great option. The ride is firm. I can easily get in and out of the car. The seats are the right proportion fit for me - much better than the ones in our F350. The glare on the windshield is very annoying. Polarized sun glasses are needed!

I've had the car a couple of months now it's my first new car and just had my first oil change. The car is great - I've had no problems. I have two kids, a 3 year old and a 7 year old and one on the way. The kids watch their movies on the DVD player that comes with the car. Plenty of room for everybody. The third row has room for adults according to my friends who rode back there on a trip to the LA Zoo.

So far, so good. Replaced a van with this vehicle and much more enjoyable to drive. Better fuel economy than the van and CVT trans makes for a smoother ride (no shifting). Very comfortably designed drivers seat with plenty of legroom left over for rear passengers. Would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who asks.

Love this car, traded in my 98 Lincoln Navigator for it. We travel a lot and haul bowling balls too, so I am surprised at the room and ease to load and unload the vehicle when comparing to my SUV. This was a wise and fun choice. Doesn't feel as small and tight as a car; rides and sits higher too. I like to feel like I am higher so this suits the bill. Great car.

I traded in my Honda Accord for the Freestyle. I’m so happy I did. It looks great, gets the best gas mileage in its class, its roomy. And best of all, our dogs absolutely love it! We put all the back seats flat, cover with a fitted sheet (queen, fits perfect!) and comforter, roll the windows 1/2 way down & our dogs are in heaven. We can't wait to take road trips in it. I absolutely recommend it to families & active folks with kids or dogs, or sports enthusiasts. We have the SEL in white/gold trim. It’s sharp. For us, it's perfect. But most importantly, the safety features, comfort, mpg & fact that it suits not only us, but our dogs, sold us on this one. Enjoy!

Just got the Limited AWD with NAV, adjust pedal, safety option, reverse sensing, DVD, 2nd row buckets. Chose this over minivans and SUV's after months of research. LOVE IT! A lot of bang for the buck over Honda or Toyota vans if you can give up sliding doors and both rows folding flat. For a family of 4 this is more than enough room and a great look. Also, no one knows what it is. All of my MOM friends are amazed by its comfort and room. It's like a super wagon more than a van. It handles like a car more than a truck which I like. The driver's seat is so supportive & accommodating to a short driver ( better than previous cars). My 6'1" husband also has plenty of room. Great alternative to minivan.

The vehicle has exceptional handling and acceleration. The continuous variable transmission (CVT) gives excellent acceleration especially on hills in ski country. The handing with AWD has also been excellent in driving in snow covered roads. The look of the vehicle is comparable to much more expensive competitors. The storage space and flexibility of the interior is outstanding.

Limited Black leather interior is great looking. Layout and NAV system are nice features. I wouldn't get this car in anything but the Limited style. Get the captains chairs in the 2nd row if you have 2 or more car seats. You can scoot between the rows, if you take out the console, or you can climb over it easier than taking out the car seats to get in the back.

Like all SUVs and derivatives, built for small people. Center console (much too wide) seriously interferes with driver's legroom and knee. Maybe not a problem if you are 5"2', but it makes the car plain uncomfortable on longer drives for tall people. Seat comfort is mediocre, acceleration is poor (especially with 4 people in the car and/or any weight in the back). Needs more powerful engine and less clutter (get rid of the center console for a start).

Hey, I'm a Southern California Driver and traffic bites, but this ride gets me through it. Rolling down the windows works great when you roll them all down, saves on gas also. Getting like 25 MPG mixed street/freeway, manual calculations, the computer is way wacky with that. I have no problem with hills fully loaded. I found that you have to shift into "L" and she runs with it. The blue looks good at night too.

What a nice vehicle to choose for your first Ford. The Freestyle is a good handling vehicle, sturdy, quiet and has good performance. We found that the visibility while driving is excellent and the amount of head room is good especially when sitting in the rear area. The front driver & passenger area is a comfortable layout and controls are within reach. All seating in this vehicle are well designed and give max comfort while driving.

My husband and I bought this vehicle because of the ease of handling and the amount of seating capacity. We love that it's so easy to enter and exit the vehicle. We don't have to stoop to get in or out. The visibility is another plus, but there's only one thing I would change, and that's the reflection of the dash on the windshield. My husband takes a crew with him to broadcast football games for his local radio station, and there's plenty of room for all 6 (big) men in the Ford Freestyle. Even with a big load like that, it handles easily and doesn't feel "bogged down" on the freeway. Our criteria in any purchase is, "Would we buy this again?", and that's an unqualified, yes, definitely.

I travel from San Francisco area to Phoenix every two months so I am in my car for long periods of time. I am getting approximately 90% of the advertised mileage. I don't travel at the speed which would allow me to get what is published on the sticker. Manufacturers tend to advertise mileage attained at speeds much lower than what is actually experienced therefore a buyer of any vehicle should realize they will get slightly less. Overall my wife and I are very pleased with our purchase and believe we received what we expected.

This vehicle excels my wildest expectations. The power is surprisingly good, considering some of the reviews that it is underpowered. Not so, in my experience to date! The versatility is remarkable with my frequent use of the seats configurations to accommodate my every need. And the sound from the stereo is outstanding, coupled with the navigational system, I am happy to say that this cross-over vehicle is the best buy for the money, hands-down! Thanks to Ford for building such a great vehicle. BTW this is my first Ford. I also have an Infiniti M45 and an Audi A4 Convertible; well the Freestyle is my favorite. I believe this is Ford's best kept secret. I found the car when I considered an Explorer and saw this lonely fellow sitting by himself in the showroom. The third row seats are very roomy, better than any other vehicle that we tested. The stadium seating is appreciated by my kids who can see out of the windows well. Although I am supposed to be getting 19/24 miles per gallon, I am getting approximately 15 for mostly city driving. My husband appreciates the CVT. Overall, this car is very practical if you are looking for a car that seats 6 or 7 and you don't wish to drive a huge SUV.

This was both my first new car and my first Ford. The dealership was awesome and made the buying of the vehicle both fun and easy. As for the Freestyle, I wouldn't change a thing about it. The power is adequate for me and the ride is better than anything else I've driven. Interior is very comfortable and the stereo and DVD system are lots of fun and sound great. My only problem with the vehicle so far is that we haven't had much time to drive since the rear end failed at just over 200 miles and it's been back at the dealership being repaired. Oh well ... that's what the warranty is for I guess. Probably should have listened to my parents and gone for the Subaru. :)

After purchasing our Freestyle and driving it for a couple of months we noticed an A/C problem. After sitting a few days, when starting it would make a noise under the hood that I wasn't familiar with. To check it out I watched the engine while my wife started the car. The noise and a green spray emanated from the A/C compressor. The spray evaporated quickly leaving nothing to show dealership mechanics. Taking the car to the dealership I explained what was happening. It turned out to be a pressure relief valve releasing an over filled A/C charge. After a pressure check and correcting the over fill everything works fine.

I currently have 3 Fords (Mustang, Taurus and new FS) and a Sebring. Traded my Tahoe to get better seating for 6-7, lower step-in height for my in-laws and better MPG. The CVT trans take a lot of getting used to. The seats are comfortable, but the interior fabric is poor (snags and stains easily). Interior design is modern and nicely done. Front middle vents do not shut off. Daytime running lights not offered. Nice all-around car for hauling the kids/grandkids, but need more power and a 6 speed auto transmission (like the Ford 500) - without giving up any gas mileage.

We started looking for a 7 seater replacement for our aging V70 - kids getting bigger. Have not owned a domestic vehicle for 10 years and it took some doing to look at Ford. Reviewed all the usual competitors including XC90. It is very functional and versatile, a real 7 seater with ample interior room. Comfortable, firm ride, quiet with no squeaks and rattles. Handles the road imperfections really well. Ford has done an excellent job on this car from design to execution. If you are looking for this type of vehicle and overlook the Freestyle you are making a mistake.

A very smooth ride. The pick up and go with the CVT like no other. I'm glad I took this car out for a test drive, I was looking at SUVs; much more room inside. My son loves to sit all the way in the back and watch movies.

I am 58 year old "car junkie" -- have owned over 100 cars of all makes, foreign & domestic. Until now my favorite cars were a 1965 Olds 442 & a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO MTX. My wife & I presently own a Ford Hybrid, Nissan Titan, Volvo C70 & the Freestyle. This Freestyle blew me away -- it has all the power needed, handles like a sports car, incredible in snow, good gas mileage average 23-28, versatile interior (can carry a 10' ladder inside), & a unique, attractive look. The car continues to draw attention from young & old alike.

Love the handling and especially like the performance of the CVT. We bought a 2006 Limited FWD with the safety package in Titanium Green with pebble interior. The suspension seems a bit stiff here at the beginning, but all in all a nice ride. GREAT mileage! We got 27.7 average MPG on our first tank. That exceed our expectations for a break in period. Love the memory seats and mirrors too. Makes it feel like a luxury car at a not so luxury price. A great value, in my opinion. Seems to have plenty of power too, although we have yet to drive it loaded up. The only minor complaint is that the LED is difficult to see in bright sun, and I wish the windshield was larger. Love the moonroof.

Like all domestics, one should be able to get a great deal. Pleasantly paid just a few hundred over invoice. Dealer experience was very positive. Honestly, settled on the car out of necessity and lack of offerings from other car companies. Only vehicle with 3 rows of seating, car like gas mileage, decent trunk space, price $30K or less. There should be more choices in the future due to high gas prices; meantime, this is probably one of few choices.

Bought the car after driving 14 different models from cars to minivans. This was one of only 2 cars that that my head didn't hit the ceiling in. I'm 6' 4". Impressed with the build quality and utility of the vehicle. Performance lacks a little but more than a trade off for the mpg's (currently 24 mpg's overall). Got an incredible deal from the Ford dealer. Over $5,000.00 off of sticker. Definitely the right choice since I drive over 45,000 miles a year for work.

The SE Freestyle '05 'is a great basic car/SUV with the all wheel drive. The view from the roomy cab is excellent and the performance of the 6 cylinder engine is more than enough. Gas mileage is average for these tough times 21-26. The theater seating in the rear is roomy for teenagers as well as adults. They all comment on it.

We purchased the Freestyle in April of 2005. We have found it to be a comfortable and easy to drive vehicle with plenty of cargo room. The CVT is a wonder. Good amount of responsive power with smooth handling.

Our recent vacation trips to Florida, Canada and the Jersey shore found a comfortable, easy to handle station wagon. There was plenty of room for people, luggage and cargo (bikes on back). The transmission served the gas mileage from 23.5 on the high speed Florida trip to the easy ride to Canada for 25.7 mpg. We are well pleased after 6,957 miles to date.

Traded my '05 Windstar for the AWD Freestyle; first road trip to Green Bay averaged 27.1 mpg, 750 mile round trip averaged 26.2 with 4000 miles on engine. Excellent fit, doors sound expensive when slammed! Fun to drive on stop & go Eisenhower into Chicago, no noticeable shifting up & down.

I traded in my gas-guzzling Expedition for a Freestyle. Walked into the dealer looking for an Explorer when the Freestyle caught my eye. Went home, did some research and came back to the dealer for a test-drive. Convinced I made the right decision. Compares to a Volvo XC70. Could use bumper guards on the door panels. The thought of a late-model Caddy pulling in the parking space next to you is little unnerving but I've read the Ford 500 door guards work well as an aftermarket item. Also for chrome tip exhaust ,the Audi A4's are compatible and save you money when it come to upgrading the "look"

This is just the right car between a station wagon and a SUV. It did a great job of moving our student's load to the college dorm. My other car is a sport car. So, I drove the car in a spirited fashion and I was very impressed by its handling. The CVT gear works very nice. We made sure to get side air bags. This is not a standard feature but an option. You need to insist on it. Two other important factors in our purchase decision was its #1 rating in roll-over test (above Acura MDX), and its top ranking in crash testing (based on Volvo cage).

Was considering a Magnum, but when I test drove this, I knew it was the right choice. I am a bit wide in the leg department, and this is a bit cramped up front, but not too uncomfortable. Like the techie aspect of the CVT and the AWD. We'll see how it performs!

We love our Freestyle! we were looking for something to hold our family (5)+ friends, go camping, carry sports gear and get through Minnesota winters. We got all this plus our 70+ year old parents can easily get in and out without a step ladder. It's quiet, comfortable and roomy and gets great mileage. I have never been stopped by so many people who want to know about my vehicle. Keep up the good work!

As a brand new owner of a '06 Ford Freestyle (Limited AWD), I can verify that the vehicle possesses numerous highly desirable attributes, i.e., seating that can accommodate grandkids, abundant comfort in its seat, sufficient get-up-and-go, splendid handling, and welcome elevated driver-seat height. Except for carping about need for more horsepower, everything most auto magazine critics write has proven accurate. Those claiming the Freestyle is not acceptable without more horses must be speed freaks. There is enough available power for most "regular" drivers.

Can't wait for the snow to fly. We bought this vehicle over a minivan and did not sacrifice much in the way of roominess - AWD, traction control. the CVT and its Volvo lineage were the big selling points. The constantly variable transmission took a little getting used to, but the vehicle has decent acceleration traits and the engine settles down to 1800 or so RPM at 70 mph on the highway. The middle row folds away quite easily to allow fairly decent access to the third row, and two adults can sit comfortably in the 3rd row. The seating system is well engineered and is a very sturdy platform when in cargo mode. The stereo features a 6 disk MP3 player.

I traded an Excursion (which I loved!) for the Freestyle. I did not think I would like it being smaller than what I was used to. I have driven an Excursion for 7 years and also Ford F150's for 10 years and also customized vans. But, I was surprised! I do not feel undersized at all.

I found only 1 problem with the Freestyle and that is cabin noise when one window is open. The quick fix is to keep another window on the opposite row open a crack. This eliminates that awful sound.

I feel like I'm riding a luxury car with all the features a Limited offers. The heated leather seats, sun roof, 6 CD changer, back up sensor and much more, all items I would have wanted in a passenger sedan but found in this 6 seater. I was tired of feeling like a soccer mom in her taxi and was ready for a change. This gives me the capacity I still needed but the feel I was looking for. Loaded with options but a price I could afford. I'm very happy to have taken advantage of the family plan. Great interior layout!

The stadium style seating is nice so all the kids can see out the window. Great safety features too. Fits all the family needs without being a minivan. I'm very pleased with this vehicle so far.
