I hate this thing. It has the interior space of my '93 Saturn SC1, which is a 2 door coupes, but it is as big as its 4 door brother the Impala. It is in no way "sporty" in that is is slow and the steering is numb. The seats are less comfortable than my winter beater 95 blazer, which somehow accelerates harder. It's all hard plastic. The audio quality is shut because 3 speakers are blown. The volume dial barely works. I'm glad I don't own this car, and I can'tell recommend buying one.

I've had an obsession with MC's since my brother got a 2001 when I was in 8th grade. I just KNEW it would be my first car. and it was! A beautiful car with the heart of racing. I couldn't be more pleased and I plan on keeping my MC forever!

I was looking for a new car, test drove 08 Mustang GT, 10 Camaro SS & Challenger RT. The Monte SS by far was the most fun to drive, I really didn't expect anything from it. After the test drive I put money down to hold the car, I knew it was a winner. I am not saying this car would burn these others in a race but the acceleration on the SS made me instantly want it. When you step on the gas the HP goes right to the wheels, no delay. No one understands just how fast these LS4's are until they are behind the drivers seat. Even if your not in it for speed, it is a very comfortable car to drive in.The best part of my day is coming & going to work.

This was the 2nd monte carlo I purchase and believe me the worst. Problems first started 100 miles over warranty. Car would not shift into gear. Took to Chev was charged for a new ignition. Few months later same problem took to another shop told it was shifter cable. Pd again. About a yr later same problem. Next was the dash it started coming apart. Next, ac went out which happened with both monte carlos at 6 yrs. Well, now it is the transmission. As for the car not shifting if was the shifter when you would try and push button down to put in gear it would not go but would do it randomly. Finally, I figured out after so many times of paying it was mainly in the winter. Well, needless to say.

I bought my car at a dealership for $1,200 off the sticker price; I walked out paying $6,000 even for everything, including the plate. The car had over 100,000 miles on it, but they were high way miles, so the car is still in EXCELLENT condition. Although it has a high amount of high way miles, it still runs like it's brand new. The car is in perfect condition, exterior and interior. I have been driving it for almost a year and the only problem I've had is an obnoxious clicking that seems to be related to the air vents. Other than that, it is a WONDERFUL car.

Very practical. Large trunk, has great fuel economy. Sat in the back for 200 miles down to South Dakota and it was very comfortable. Wish I had the leather seat option though. Front wheel drive is great in the winter. Throw on some Conti Pro Contacts and I can go through 9 inches of snow with no problems on the unplowed roads. I do all my own matinence since I work at a shop which helps keep my costs down.

I purchased my Monte new while I worked at the dealership. The first 50,000 miles had very few problems with it. The only really thing was that I blew a power steering line and the junk tire pressure sensors. I had the keyless entry system (which reads the tire pressure sensors) replaced twice. And numerous amounts of sensors replaced before it fixed itself. After 50,000 the GMPP warranty paid for itself. Had control arms, wheel bearings, and tie rods replaced all at once. Had oil rings in the engine seize and had 8 new pistons and rings installed. Trust me I take care of this car! Nothing but 92+ octane and synthetic oil every 5,000 miles. All maintanence performed regularly.

I am the (not so) proud owner of what I thought was a nice used car. Bought this with 47,000k fully loaded, which isnt bad for a 2006, only to discover transmission problems two weeks and 300 miles after purchasing. I like the car, but am disgusted with its performance. It slams into gear from park and hesitates to get into first, often jerking into first gear. Was told the car had a warranty when purchasing only for the dealer to have no record of the warranty. Lucky me for purchasing a car out of warranty. After dealing with the Chevy dealer (seller) and GM, I can say the two have lost a longtime and formerly loyal GM customer. NEVER AGAIN!

The only problem with my Monte, is that I should have bought the SS. I have had my Monte for 4 years, and to date, it has been bullet proof. The only problems have been a stale odor from the AC, and some earlier remote key issues. It has 44,000 miles on it, and I have changed my oil every 3,000 miles, and recently switched to Mobil One, and installed a K&N air filter. The brakes are original, and have over 50% remaining. My Monte is a glossy black, with fabric seats (should have been leather), that are too light in color, and show dirt. It is sporty, and can get out of its own way, even with the 3.5 L engine. I have 44,000 miles, and plan to keep my car indefinitely.

GM didnt use there brain on that one! other than that the car has been ok! i wish i got the SS i like a little speed! the 3.5 is pretty good big gas saver 30 miles to gallon. they are a really good car and looks great GM BRING BACK THE MONTE CARLO!

Purchased my 06 Monte Carlo Feb. 2010, love this car thus far. Received a wonderful price on the car, considering all the features and options. The LTZ trim levels has everything the SS offers without the V8. Comfort and style is superb, I only had one problem with the key not releasing right away from the ignition. Dealer located the problem on the first visit. I wouldn't trade this car for anything. Have owned Pontiac and Dodge and by far my Chevy is my favorite. Gas could be improved but hey its a 3.9L with awesome passing power and handling. Would highly recommend for Chevy to bring back the Monte Carlo name plate. Home Run GM!!!!!

My 2006 Monte has had nothing but problems from day one. Had to replace steering twice and then last month got a recall notice for the same. The dealer has been looking for the problem with the computer since I bought it. What is with that? I love Chevy vehicles but this one is disappointing to say the least.

I love this car. In black it has this stealth look. The car has been bullet proof. Only regular maintenance in the 3 years I have owned it. Negatives: paint does chip easily, and interior fit and finish is overall "good," but some of the trim parts don't fit well. I switched to an "H" rated Goodyear Assurance (Eagle GT) series; this permitted better cornering. My Monte is loaded....whatever was available it has.

Love my Monte!

We have had this car 2 years now and it's been a pleasure to own and drive. Only problem we've had with it is the Tire Pressure Monitors malfunctioning. Otherwise, nop problems. A very solid feel this car has. It hugs the road and handles great in all weather conditions. The 3.9L engine provides plenty of power on the highways, which is our main type of driving. The fuel economy isn't all that bad, but i didn't purchase this car with fuel economy in mind. For what we paid for it, we got much more car than we would have gotten from any Japanese import of the same price. I love my Monte, and it's sad to see the MC nameplate disappear, probably for good, unfortunately.

I bought an 06 Monte Carlo LT about a year ago. I loved it when I first bought it, but later I'm starting to double think this car. The shifter button sticks, thus causing the key not to come out of the ignition at times..Had to replace my Power Steering already, AND I'm starting to have transmission problems...Its sad, and the parts are so expensive! It looks cool, however. And I love the power it shoots out for a V6. I wouldn't recommend this vehicle to anyone with toddlers, or infants. Its hard to get in and out of the backseat. Ive owned this for a year, and I'm selling it for something more reliable.

I recently bought a 2006 Monte Carlo SS and couldn't be happier. This car is fun to drive. It's a BEAST really!! I was worried about gas, seeing its a v8, but those worries went away. I drive mostly highway, and it's excellent on gas. I love how this car looks, inside and out. My old car was a 02 Grand Prix GT (2 door) and this car is very similar, except with a lot more power. Chevy did a great job with the 06-07 models, and I couldn't be happier!! =]

I've been driving my ltz for a month now and I'm really enjoying driving this car. The car only has 60.000 km so no problems yet!. Ive always had gm cars and I'm a gm lover! The car handles great, fuel economy I'm impressed. This car has a 3.9 engine so if you have a heavy foot well its normal that the car will cost you !. But at normal driving condition you will be impressed!. The downside of this car is the sound system I own a g5 2007 the 2 cars has the same sound system, I expected more from the ltz! This car performs at its best when you want to pass a car. The acceleration is at its best after 35 km. For those people that do not like a gm product you should try this car !

This car has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It is very fast, in fact, a little more power than the front drive system can keep a hold of. In the winter, I drive around the other fast cars stuck in the snow because of the front drive. It's a trade off that works. Big trunk, comfortable interior that is solid after 28,000 miles. Fuel mileage has been the only disappointment. Sticker suggested 18/28 I get 15.5/23.

In general, I like the car. It performs well and gets good gas mileage (as much as 28-29 on the highway). The thing that bothers me is stuff that goes wrong way before it should. Both front strut towers and bearings at 40k, Tie rods at 45k. I have not been able to get more than 2 months in a row without one or more of the tire pressure sensors going out. Now today at 58K, the power steering pump just went. It is discouraging, and I am a hard core GM guy

I traded in a 2001 Buick Regal GS for the SS. I had high hopes after owning the Regal for four years, and without question I'm not disappointed by the Monte. The shape of the outside is handsome without being obnoxious. The interior is spacious, especially for a coupe, seats my 6'5" frame nicely, and the interior is a nice improvement from the Regal, which was already nice. Of course, the focal point of owning a Super Sport is the performance, and this one does not disappoint. Just from the feel, it blows the memory of my '87 Monte SS out of the water.

I have a bias for the shape of the roofline on 2006-2007 Monte Carlos. For me it has lots of interior room, something that cost above 40K in a Asian or Euro coupe. It is very fast when you stand on it. I have upset at least the following imports; Audi Q7 with V-8, BMW 650 convertble, Porsche boxster. Yes it is a front wheel drive and a amiable performer one click down from the Pontiac GTO and the last year of the Z28 Camaro. It will deliver 25 to 28 mpg on flat highways when driven at speed limit, I average about 23 mpg on highway due to spirited driving. The Goodyears hum at around 45-55 mph then get quiet. Plenty of trunk room, leather seats are firm and so is suspension. Like it a lot.

Since I've had my Monte I have been going on a lot of road trips and have put a lot of miles on it. I have driven it across various states, into Canada, through snowy mountain passes, and this car has always gotten me from A to B flawlessly! I realized that I like front wheel drive when I was driving on snowy roads (you dont fishtail or lose control as easy as rear wheel) This is a good road tripping car. Though I did wake up one morning, started the car, and realized that some how the power steering pump went out overnight, being under warranty, the dealer took care of it quick. Other then that I believe this car is dependable, I have definitely put it through the test and it passed.

I am very pleased by the performance and handling of this FWD "muscle car" from GM. The ride is very civilized, however the seats are not well bolstered. GM removed about $1500 worth of optional equipment, such as the guage package, leather shifter and boot, and the passenger power seat (to mention a few). I found my 2003 SS to be more comfortable. If they had just left the creature comforts alone, and just added the V-8 and changed the front clip styling, they would have hit a home run. I get between 30 and 35 mpg on the highway/9-12 mpg in city driving. It is touchy keeping the DOD in 4 cyl. mode, but that does improve fuel economy by about 20%.

It delivers all a guy going into college could want. muscle car power with the looks and comfront of luxury sedan which IS nothing more that anyone could ask for the price. I own this '06 SS and I am glad every single day it's mine. At the time of purchase I was going to buy a Toyota Corrola until I heard the V8 fire up inside the showroom. I was sold. Why anyone would buy any other model but the SS I can't understand, but to each their own. I have since added the Magnaflow Performance exhaust system and it really rumbles now. Power? Plenty of power, giddyup whenever I need it. Looks are great, mine is silver in color, I keep it waxed, nice wheel package at 18in., beautiful car. Dodge Charger has absolutely nothing on this Chevy, and I plan on owning it for a very long time. No major problems at all.

The car actually belongs to my mother, but due to eye problems, I am the driver. My mother purchased the car in Nov. of 2007. Since the purchase, we've had a new transmission installed and had to have it checked twice after that. Now there is a problem with the shifting the car from Park to Drive, etc. The shift has become stiff and it takes two hands to get it to move. Love the car, hate the problems we've had.

I never thought I would enjoy (nay, love) driving a front drive V6, but holy crap! This car will put your backside in the seat and keep it there then stop on a dime and give you a nickel change. The handling is very stable and pretty responsive. I'm 6'5 and fit extremely well in this car once the triple adjustable seat was set. The exterior is as aggressive as the performance; people tend to stare when I go by. When I took the car on the highway, 90 was as comfortable as 40. This is truly a sharp car. Makes me wonder why in the world GM would discontinue such a great automobile.

I love my car and that is after nearly 2 years of mostly freeway miles. I get 27 there and average 19 mpg for a 303 hp V8. My Z28 had 315 and the insurance is half as much. The radio system is awesome. Buy the car loaded if you can. The chromatic mirrors and leather seats make for an enjoyable experience. This car is a highway interceptor. It outruns most vehicles on the freeway with ease. It outhandles my 02 Z28 in the curves. Get one while they are still around.

I have driven the front wheel drive 2006 SS for a year now and been happy for chosing it over the other 300 hp 2 door sedans available. Although, not the most refined road manners compared to Swedish sedans I've owned, it delivers 26 mpg on sustained highway trips. It is roomier, lighter and faster than it looks. City mileage is 18 mpg at best, not to mention it should only be fueled with 93 octane. The Goodyears Eagles are a bit noisy between 45-60 mph, but grab very well at high speed manuvering. Not as refined as say the Infiniti GX35 coupe nevertheless I'll take the roomier cabin over flashy interior. Torque steer is noticable when you hard throttle at low speeds, but managable.

First, I owned 2 Tbirds and the "interior" guy should shut it. Its a lot more like the old Tbirds than most people would think, just front wheel drive. I have thrown this car around corners, ran 15s in the quarter, and have squashed a lot of the competition. I use to be a Ford guy, and kinda still am at heart. I miss my Tbird very much, but this car is the closest thing to a big 2 door coupe that has is close to my old bird. I honestly think that if the car was a little lighter, it would be even faster, but for a stock car runnin a V-6 engine, I am incredibly empressed, I just wish it were rear wheel drive. It has performance, handling, great looks, and an awesome ride. I love it!

What can I say about such a great car that hasn't already been said? It's fun to drive. It turns heads. Not 100% sure about the performance as of yet cause I've not tried it. I also own a 1986 LS Monte I've had for pretty much 10 years and part of the reason I wanted an '06 is cause my two Montes are 20 years apart. So far I've cleaned the car like 200 times and it sets inside under a new car cover most the time. Since I got it, I think I've put 1200 miles on it? I like cleaning the car.

After a year and a half of driving this car, I have mostly good things to say about this car. GM seems to have improved their build quality over the past few years of Monte Carlos. I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever. I love the strong pulling V6, decent gas mileage, and the 8 speaker audio system.

Excellent front wheel drive performance coupe. I have owned performance coupes since the late 1960's (GTO, Cuda, Olds 442, Road Runner, Trans AM and Malibu SS) and this car reminds me allot of the 1969 GTO Judge I owned - in terms of handling, performance and pure fun to drive. Highly recommended..

First of all I picked the Monte Carlo SS because I love driving and around my area there are many winding country roads which makes this car a lot of fun to drive. Softer suspensions are no fun at all on these kinds of roads. The power of this car makes it easy to to pass slower moving traffic and is also quite economical on highways. Even though I am 59 I feel 30 driving this car. It is very comfortable when driving on highways or other smooth road surfaces.I usually change cars every 4 years but I will be keeping this one much longer. This is my best and most fun to drive car I've ever had. Quite a switch from 2 Malibu's in a row to this car.

I looked at a Monte Carlo because it seemed a lot like a Thunderbird which they don't make anymore. But it is anything but. The main problem I have with this car is the cheap interior. The door panels and dash make a lot of noise when going over bumps. Also the car has a lot of road noise. This car is junk. Stay away!

Over the last few years I have always driven Chrysler products and loved them, but when I test drove the Monte Carlo I fell in love with it. Little did I know that every few weeks I would be returning my car to the dealership for some type of repair. The repairs have ranged from the tire monitor sensors to the heated seats and the brakes and also don't let me forget the heating system. I buy brand new cars so I don't have this problem. If this car holds up for the next 2 years I will be getting rid of it and going back to Chrysler products and if someone would offer to buy it right now I would sell it and take my loss if you would even call it a loss. I wouldn't recommend buying this car.

I am very disappointed with my 2006 Monte Carlo purchase. The car is very uncomfortable, and the interior is very plain. My previous car was a 1998 Monte Carlo, and the interior in that model is much more elegant, and the seats were comfortable, unlike the 2006 model. We have put about 1200 miles on our '06 Monte. So far it has been a real fun ride. The interior is roomy enough. The kids fit fine in the back seat. Not real practial with children, but oh well. The heated seats and stereo are great. The car has a fairly stiff suspension and hugs the road well. You do feel most bumps in the road. Braking is very strong and the steering gives you a solid feel of the road. The car feels solid and substantial. The 3.9l V6 is plenty powerful for us with lots of passing power. Fuel economy is running about 23 around town and 27-28 on the highway. Overall, we are very pleased with the car and have not had second thoughts about our selection.

I got the car new in June of 2006 from a dealer my father works at. I love this car. It is my second Monte Carlo, but I have to be honest this new one has had a lot of problems. The car throws out black smoke out of the exhaust (the dealers can't figure out why even after 4 visits) The driver seat stopped working and the A/C unit only works half of the time. A replacement unit has been on order for a month. This is my 4th new Chevy and I have never had one with the list of problems this one has had. I would recommend the car if it all the problems were fixed, but until then, wait for the 2007 so hopefully the problems will be solved

This car caught my eye right away and I've have the same feeling everytime I look at it. The V8 rumble is never over exhilirating and the DOD works awesome. I really liked my car for the first 3000 miles or so but it suddenly became sluggish, I now find myself competing with 4 cylinder engines with a slight tapping sound under the hood while at a stand still. Also a quart of oil has been burned now at 3500 miles. I am really aggravated by how much a car can change over so few miles. Reminds me of that freind that stabbed you in the back. My 2001 Acura was much more potent than this vehicle with less horsepower and displacement and more weight. Please explain this one. Gas mileage also stinks on this new car. I went from a 2004 Chevy Colorado with the 3.5 litre 5cyl to this one. Truly disappointed and thought it would be better!

Before I bought the car I was considering the Ford Mustang. I am a tall person and the Monte Carlo fit my bill better plus the front wheel drive is better than the rear wheel drive on the Mustang. So far I've driven the car 700 miles and have been averaging 20.7 to 21 miles per gallon overall. Not bad for a v8. I also like the comfort of the leather seats with the lumbar support. If you have back problems it’s great. The stereo system is excellent, also the remote start is awesome too. Overall I'm very happy I bought the Monte Carlo instead.

I've had a 2002 Monte and after I had a lot of stuff go wrong with it, I looked into getting a new car. I narrowed my choices to 3 cars. Mustang, Monte and Charger. Mustang way too small. Charger has more power. But only 2/10 of a sec quicker. Plus doesn't have some of the features that I like. The Monte has everything but a DVD nav system. Cell phone, on star, DOD (charger doesn't let you know when its active or not.) Remote start. I think alot of people need to rethink the GM's lineup. There cars have power not stuck at 200 HP like in the past. This car all around better then 2000-2005 Monte year. MPG for me is around 15.8. Sorry people, you have to pay for power.

I have got over 30 on the highway and usually 24-25 in town. This car handles too! Thus far, the new Monte has made trips to Chicago and the Quad Cities, and combined with the day to day driving to and from work, there is no doubt in my (former) military mind that this is the best car I have ever driven. The 3.9 6 cyl has enough power to get me noticed by the Iowa Patrol (hasn't happened yet), yet seems to be keeping the MPG at around 20 city (although the instant economy feature has shown me mileage around 30+ on occasion). The heated leather and remote start feature makes cold days nothing to fear, and it's a nice change to come into a heated car on the way home from work. No, it's not a Mustang or Corvette, but the lines and performance thus far belie NEXTEL Cup.

This is the 1 GM car I have bought in over 15 years as I have alway bought a German built auto. I find that this MC SS is a great value but the are area that GM cheap out on and that is in the interior. Tthey could use a lesion from Audi or VW how to make a very nice interior and keep cost down. The performance of the 5.3 liter v8 is outstanding as well as the comfort of the car. Gas mileage is so so about 18.5 20 mpg so far. I have spent time in a 1992 Corvette and have gotten over 29 mpg with it so I know GM can make this happen. This is a fun car to drive and be seen in.

With it being my sixth vehicle in the last eight years, I can not say enough about it. It is the only one I would actually consider leasing another one of. I am very impressed with its handling capability being a front drive V8, and it also adds practicality (although hardly practical) for an every day driver, with roomy interior for a coupe. The ride is phenomenally solid and quiet. The only thing you're really going to hear is the rumble of that 5.3L, 303 hp engine. Gas mileage is actually better than my '04 Grand Prix GTP (Supercharged V6), by 2.5 miles! The redesigned front end was definitely over due and, gives the '06 Monte Carlo a much more sophisticated yet aggressive appearance.

While this car is fun to drive (and the V-8 is certainly a major improvement) the interior design leaves much to be desired. The shifter is in an terrible location and it's difficult to adjust the temp control. I opted for the premimum stereo system and it's not a premium sound in my opinion. Would I purchase this car again? Certainly, I would just opt for the cheap stereo system and upgrade it later. As for the temp control...well, maybe they'll get it right next time.

This is my third Monte Carlo, the last being a 2003 SS but I did not want a V- 8 nor rear wheel drive as I like the front wheel. New front end looks very sleek. Personally I find the new bucket seats to be a bit too hard and the interior seems more narrow than the 2000 and 2003 Montes I owned. Only have a couple of hundred miles on this one but if the car holds up like the last two I'll be pleased. Low the traction control! Had that on the 2003 SS.

Worth serious consideration

Chevy did a real nice job of touching up this reliable performer, making it more sleek in design and improving both the appearance and functionality of interior controls. What sold me was a combination of the fuel economy and the flex fuel engine offered in the 3.5L V-6, which runs on both unleaded, as well as E85 fuel. Finally, the base engine, in addition to being very miserly on fuel, has a surprising amount of power and has the feel of a sports coupe. This vehicle is worth both a test drive and serious consideration against any other manufacturer.

Anyone who grew up in the 60's and 70's remembers the throaty sound of factory hotrods, well guess what, it's back. Aside from a great ride, the handling, power and sheer fun is back in this car. It seems that GM has learned from the NASCAR experience. Slight torque steer doesn't take away from this gem's muscle car heritage. This car starts to really cook after 80 mph. displacement on demand is seamless and makes the gas mileage great for a car with 300+ hp. I'm averaging 20.6 with only 1000 miles on the car it can only get better as the motor breaks in. The aerodynamics of the bodystyle add to the eye appeal. This car touches all 6 senses at the same time.

Lots of room and space and fun to drive. Great fuel ecconomy for a car this size. The quality is great too. The price is lower than most cars in its class.
