I bought this used with 77,000 miles on it. The previous owners too good care of it. The fabric was nice and like new. Someone eventually ran into me at 101,000 and totaled it. It was good on gas, very comfortable and had power seats which I liked. The stereo sounded good when dialed up loud. The car looked nice except for the back looked outdated. I did a few minor repairs plus some major ones. There is a long bar in the front by the engine forget what they call it. It was going to cost me 1,200 to have fixed, I found someone for 700. It had some dry rot. Then around 100,000, the struts were going bad and that would have been 800. The owners had EuroTour Big O tires that were great and lasted a long time. Overall, an acceptable car. Too bad it was totaled.

I bought this car from a seller in CL for my daily 200 miles commuting. After driving 4000 miles, it still runs great. Handling is good for a front wheel drive car. In general, Im not an aggressive driver but like to drive at constant speed that gives overall mpg about 37. One full tank load can last for more than 500 miles. Of course I changed all the oils, fluids, filters (transmission and air), shocks and coolant when the first week I got this car. The transmission fluid was leaking but after replaced the crush washer. The problem solved. It does smoke at starting the car as everyone said. Some say it's valve seal but others say might be fuel left in cylinder and is normal, etc. But I never observe any oil consuming (I check my oil every other day) and the car passed the inspection. On little thing is that I have to put a small pillow to make the seat very comfortable. However, I dont need that for 2016 Corolla. Overall, it's reliable car with great gas millage and great for my daily long distant driving.

I hated this car when I first bought it new in 2005. My previous car was purchased new in 1995 and it was a Maxima with a six cylinder engine and five speed transmission and I kept it until I bought this Camry. It had 229,000 miles and it was a lot more fun to drive. It took me a while to get used to my Camry with a four cylinder engine and an automatic transmission and a lot of my friends teased me over this car. I used the Camry for my business and used to drive it a lot so I wanted better gas mileage. Anyway, 11 years later and with 143,000 miles and climbing I would still drive it cross country and know there would be no problems. It does smoke when I first start it if it sits for a few days and I read online that the valve seals leak (smokes for about 10 seconds) which causes the smoke but it is never down very much oil when I change it at 5,000 miles. Some people have complained about the paint but my battleship grey color has stood up very well. Anyway, it is a basic car and boring by many standards but it runs great. The maintenance has been one battery, I change the oil every 5,000 miles, tires and I've changed the transmission oil and coolant at 70,000 miles. I'll be doing it again very soon. Also the front brakes were changed and the rear brakes are original. The exhaust, water pump, timing chain, tranny, engine, radio etc. are original. With that said, it has been a great reliable car.

So i bought my 2005 Camry SE v6 I see complaints about handling but noticed all complaints are on the cheapest model camrys LE's base 4cyl Mine handles like a champ (sway bars bigger rims/wider tires on the SE) 120,000 miles not a single issue other than my sunroof is touchy. Gas milage is unbelievable for a good size sedan 34 hwy I live in mohave county Az average temp in summer near 120, paint is still nearly perfect no fade. Trunk space would make al capone blush, I could hide 10 bodies in there. 225hp is just right, my altima SER was overboard and caused wheel spin 285hp, Plus tires were a yearly issue on the altima. Build quality... It ain't no BMW but its better than average. Great car overall, not fancy but still classy.

This was the only car I've ever bought relatively new from a dealer. Bought at 60k miles, sold at 90k. It was very comfortable, performance was great, fuel economy about 31 usual driving, up to 40 on road trips. It wasn't great on ice, my theory is the weight of the car was distributed too far to the back to make for optimal front wheel drive traction. The only problem I had with it in that time was the paint. I had the blue color, and that paint would scratch/chip if you BREATHED on it wrong. The front hood was a mess of chips. The paint was kind of a ridiculous worry, but it stressed me out, and made me happy to get rid of it at the end of our time together.

We bought this new and it's been a great car for us. Still running great after 11 years! Repairs and maintenance beyond the usual scheduled work include: 2 batteries, 3 sets of front brakes, 1 set of rear brakes, tires, exhaust, struts, water pump (replaced under warranty), glitch in the steering, leaking power steering fluid. The brakes have always been soft on this vehicle and with aging and pot-holed streets the suspension is looser than it used to be. Highway fuel economy is about 29 mpg in winter (with winter tires) and 34 mpg in summer (with all season tires).

I have owned my fair share of cars, and this is definitely my favorite to drive to work in every day. No, it's not exciting to drive, but it is very comfortable and has plenty of power for the average person. I have had zero issues with this car, just routine maintenance. Has a very good stock audio system in the car, I can't see myself selling this any time soon! I drive a lot of long trips, this car just eats away the miles!

I own 2005 Toyota Camry (this is my 2nd Camry) and the quality of this one is terrible. The fabric inside has rolled up cotton ball. The fabric of the ceiling inside the car was all falling apart. The plastic inside is all loosen up. Its value is really bad compared to my previous Camry. My sister bought a 2012 Camry and the same thing happened to her. The material is so cheap. Not to mention all the mechanical parts - they don't last like the old Camry. We decided No more Camry and had shared this problem with everyone we know.

We have owned 4 Camry's that my husband keeps bringing home because they are cheap. Well duh, they are cheap because they are CHEAP. Everyone of them lost their engine around 150,000 despite the fact that we do everything the manual says to do (I have a beautiful oil slick in my garage too). The ride is awful, pickup worse and not all the great on gas. This last one was in an accident and gratefully no injuries, but was totaled (I thanked God for that one too). After my experience with this model, I honestly do miss my AMC hornet, at least it was peppier, fun to drive and did not blow up on me. I do not recommend.

I bought this car with 30k miles in 2006 and have now put another 100k on it. Aside from routine fluid and tire changes, this car has given me absolutely no mechanical difficulties. It got nearly 40 miles per gallon on the freeway when I first got it, but now (2013) it's closer to 32. Here are some cons: the keyless entry stopped working on me a year ago; the back speakers shattered on me into little pieces two years ago (this seems to be a common problem -- the sun pretty much destroys them); the molding on the cd player began to become unsealed from the heat of the sun. Overall, this has been a spectacular car. I plan on driving it until it's totally dead.

2005 Camry SE V6 engine. Only 36,000 miles. The electronic transmission has been awful since day one. It balks at low speeds, and hesitates and jumps, like it can't find the right gear. Dealer says there is nothing they can do to correct. It's in the computer. Gas mileage around town with the V6 engine is bad. I drive fairly slow, but only average about 16 mpg. I should have got 4 cyl. Had factory recall in 2012 for a bad camshaft pulley. Dealer claims they also found my valve covers leaking oil. Charged me $600. The only thing I like about my car is the interior room, and the solid feel. Much better than the new Camry's. The 2013 Camry's feels "cheap" and the interior is tight.

I've had my 2005 Camry LE since 2004 and I absolutely love it. It has over 160,000 km on it and apart from brakes, tires and oil changes, I have not spent a penny for other repairs. I drive to Florida and back every year and I really push it. This 4 cyl. is very performing and very, very reliable. I even pull by bass boat all summer long!!! My wife loves it too. No rattles, no rust, no problems!!!! What a car!!!

Bought my Camry new and now have just over 70k miles on it. Has been religiously serviced and pampered. Issues with paint. Chips easy, rusts easy(in spots where there is no chips). Leaks through the driver side air bag when washed. Cars interior is noisy. Sounds like a ball bearing is rolling through the dash. On the passenger side it sounds as if the engine isn't even shielded and we get an airy high pitch noise coming into the cabin. Dash rattles in places. No thigh support in the seats. Have replaced several bulbs, front, rear lights etc. Dash control lights are out on a couple(I've heard of other complaints about this). All issues came about within the first couple of years.

I've owned two Camrys and this 2005 has been great to me as was my 1995 model. I have had it seven years and really haven't had any problems with it. Standard maintenance etc. I currently have a little over 101K miles on it and I'm sure I could drive it another 7 years if I choose to. It has always gotten good gas mileage for it's size vehicle and is a 4 cylinder. The pick up has always been good and a nice comfortable drive. Amazing space in the trunk. As a musician I haul around a PA systems and guitars and such. I always seem to be able to fit what I need. All around it has been a great vehicle.

Bough new in 2006 and now 55K miles. Also bough 2006 Civic in same year. The camry is a champ in performance for 4-cyl car itCaccelerates aceptionally I have confidence passing cars on a 2-lane road. Miles-per-gallon is second to none in term of distance over weight is related, even the Civic is very good, especially in resale so I sold it and bough an Acura MDX yesterday. Anyway, Camry is a very rightous car to own! I like it's appearance too. oh no thanks, not with the spoiler!

Bought mine in 2007 with 6k on it. This has been an excellent car, best I've owned, but also the lowest mileage. It now has 76k on it. No issues, and a consistently great performing car. I put TripleTread tires on and it does awesome in the rain now. I too love the steering wheel radio controls, cruise works great, great visibility. And I'll share a condensed story: was passing a car on a two-lane one day.. punk kid thought he'd be cute and not let me get around. I punched it hard and took off like a rocket, from 60mph, quickly jumping to 100mph! left him in the dust. This from a 4 cyl! I've wanted to trade it in several times for something sportier, but can't bring myself to do it yet.

I have owned 3 other used Camrys (1997, 1997 and 1999) and I wanted a newer model. Did some research and lots of test driving, and this 2005 is solid, sturdy and dependable. It is spacious and very user friendly, with all the push button controls. I really do love this car, and am happy every time I get inside to drive it.

This is the 3rd Toyota Camry I've owned and they have all been purchased USED. I buy them with 30,000 miles or less and drive them for (no less than 4 years)and an additional 150,000 miles until trade in. Total annual cost (average) to own the vehicle? $2910 including tax, title and maintenance. When my current Camry is paid off in 2 months the annual cost to own my Camry will drop to $419. And I'll ride that out for 2 more years. Not a bad annual cost to ride a fully loaded Camry V6 XLE loaded to the gills. Since 1997? Why would I drive ANYTHING else. Seriously!

Very quiet, comfortable car. Toyota's auto-climate system is the best. It always knows exactly what to do. Very reliable, never had any problems with it. I don't especially love the car's handling because my former car was a Passat, but the Camry is an excellent car overall. The front end seems a little heavy for a 4cyl, which makes it lean more than it should in curves/corners. It does a good job of reminding me it's not a sports sedan. The seats are extremely comfortable for long trips. Get a spoiler..it really dresses the car up.

I have been a honda owner for 20 years but purchased this Camry new in 2004 due to price, features and Toyota's reputation with manufacturing quality automobiles. I have not been disappointed. This is an excellent car. It handles well in all types of weather. It is comfortable and reliable. I didn't expect to have to do anything to this car other than other than routine maintenance and oil changes and it has not let me down. The only thing I would change if I could buy the option to apply clear coat paint protection when new. My car is deep blue and as always, people love to bang their doors into a new looking car, creating door dings that the door guard doesn't always catch.

I formerly drove a Nissan Maxima which I purchased used. Loved the car, but it had occasional problems. I traded it for my 05 Camry. I now have 48,000 miles on it, and have only spent money on oil changes, air filter, cabin filter, and front brake pads (not rotors. I live in the Adirondacks High Peaks region on a private road. Only this year did I decide to put snow tires on. I've never had any problem with this car, the mileage is good, and I've never had any acceleration problems. Going from a 6 cyl. Maxima to a 4 cyl. was really no problem. I love the car and features, and will buy another. It's quiet and comfortable.

In the fall of 2009 I purchased a used 2005 Camry LE. This has turned out to be the most unsafe car that I have ever owned. To begin with there have been multiple occurrences of unexpected acceleration which seems to be due to a design flaw in the brake pedal. It is too small and located too close to the accelerator which causes me to trounce on the gas when I intend to apply the brakes. I am very fortunate that I have not struck someone or something as this is a dangerous situation. I have taken it back to the dealer to adjust the brakes which has not helped and Toyota wants me to take it back for further examination, a process which would mean that I would have to spend money for this

My car only has 66,000 miles and I had to spend so much money to get it fix 2 weeks back the car was giving me a problem of stopping middle of road and was not going over 40 mph I took to dealer and he said some animal somehow got in the car and chew all the cables (how animal can get inside from the bottom of the car) I believed what he said and paid $700 to fix it after 2 weeks all of sudden my car stopped right in center of the highway and I towed to the dealer and now he said it is related to the prior problem and I have to pay $1,100 to fix this. Never ever buy Toyota.

I've had my base 2005 Camry since I purchased it new in August 2004. It now has 75,000 miles and I commute 68 miles roundtrip 5 days a week. I'm getting approximately 28 mpg which I consider good. I had a tune up at 60,000 miles which improved its performance. I've also changed the transmission fluid twice. Other than oil changes every 5,000 miles, I haven't had to do much else. It's been a great reliable car so far.

I bought this car from my mother since she could no longer drive. It had 5000 miles on it. Kept it for 2 years and hated driving it. It was terrible in the snow. ABS did basically nothing. Steering was unstable in the snow, as was acceleration. I usually drive or tow cars to the junkyard, but this one I couldn't wait to trade in, at 4 years old and 24000 miles. The only plus was that it was good on gas.

I just bought this car 3 months ago and I was looking at 2007 nissans and toyotas. The only reason I bought this one was that it only had 12,000 miles on it. Now I only have one complaint about this car and that is when you step on the gas it boggs down and it feels like I'm towing a boat. Then once I get going it's fine. The dealer told me it was a wire and they would reset the memory so the car would learn my driving habits. I'm not convinced that this reset of THE WIRE really was it or that is just the way 05 camrys are. It really ticks me off but other than that I love the car. Is it me or do these 05 camrys have this problem? Making me wish I went with a 07 Altima.

40K miles, 4years old... Rear Speakers cracked and fell apart, into the speaker last year. Really hard to clean out, radio buzzes when bass plays. Toyota doesn't replace part. Bad design! Had to buy new covers. Door remote no longer works. Can only get into the car by driver side. Very hard with 2 young children in car seats. $800-$1000 to replace at Toyota Dealer. Having driven my Camry for over a year, and almost 20,000 miles, I must say its truly an amazing vehicle. Although mine is a 4cyl. SE, its got some nice kick to it. I really think Camry owners get their money's worth because its all around a great car. Things don't break unexpectedly or unexplained. It never quits, very fun to drive, looks great, and the ride quality is just astonishing. And to add, I actually get about 23 to 24 in the city including quick take offs when I'm running late for work. Its nice when people envy your car! ***The only choice for SE 4cyl was manual but my vehicle is an automatic.

I recently purchased a 2005 Toyota Camry for traveling purposes. It has 71k miles and the car has been wonderful so far. It has a nice comfortable ride, and the car is also stylish. I love the steering wheel audio controls, and the spoiler on mine. The 2010 model is even more beautiful. Not too many passenger cars can compare with the Camry.

Great car... I have put mostly highway miles on mine and am still on the original brakes after almost 5 years and 63000 miles. My only gripe is the paint/finish. I opted for a dealer- applied 5-yr super simonize wax and even with that, I still have deep chips and scratches. From driving on the hwy, I would've expected minor scratches on the hood from rocks, but these are like gouges. Other than that, this car has been amazing. I'll definitely purchase another Toyota as soon as I get 200000-250000 miles on this one.

This is my 2nd Camry. My first was a 2002 which I love and still have. My 2005 is even better. I love the steering wheel mounted radio controls, the extra cog in the tranny, and the slight bump in HP and fuel economy. This car is smooth as can be. Great car for long trips. Interior materials are better quality than the 07 redesign. I love the fact that all I have to do is general maintenance. I have no troubles with this car or my 02 (which now has 140,000 miles). Have not had to see a mechanic not even once. As far as sportiness, there is none to be had here, look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a good car, that is smooth, quiet and reliable, then look no further than the Camry.

I'll echo what other folk are saying. Bought mine new in 2005 and have had no problems at all, not even a burnt bulb. I think I'm at 83,000 miles or so now. I put Goodyear Tripletreads on around 40,000 as I didn't like the factory tires, and the Tripletreads greatly increased braking power, corner, and wet-condition handling. I usually get low 30s gas mileage for mix driving and mid thirties for long highway trips. Just be smart and buy this car if you're looking. Oh, and change the in-cabin air filter at least once a year to help with inside fog.

Updating my first review. Paid the dealer to flush and clean out the fuel injectors which immediately improved gas mileage and sluggish tranny. Was advised to run 91 octane to keep clean. At same visit told that rocker arms were cracked and coming out of sleeves. $900.00 repair job and car had 34,000 miles. Filed complaint with Toyota and I had to pay 1/3 of cost. Dealer tried very hard to make it right, so kudos to them, Still disappointed with my purchase. I am looking to trade this car in. I'm going back to Nissan or Honda.

Buyer Beware of Paint & People Problems

The car itself is very good. However the paint is peeling and the dealer and zone rep refuse to acknowledge the problem. They first tried to say that it was re-painted (I bought it new and would probably remember if I had had a new paint job). Once we got past that issue they decided that I was 3 months out of warranty and 18,000 miles over as well. Apparently Toyota only expects their paint to last 36000 miles or three years. It is a great car, but at $500.00 a pop to have the paint fixed I seriously doubt if I will ever own another Toyota product. Too bad their management personnel and dealers don't have the same level of integrity as their cars.

I have owned this car for almost two years now, and so far no problems. I am getting from 29-31 mpg when I drive it more than 90% of the time on the highway. The car is very spacious inside and the radio system sounds pretty good actually. I have the A/C on the minimum all the time and I live in Miami; that's how cold it is. Right now my Camry has 50K miles.

Bought this vehicle new. Has easily been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned with no dealer visits at all. At 73K miles (averaging 19K/year) all I have needed to do is change the tires once and oil regularly. Extremely unexpectedly, haven't even changed the brakes (although I'm close, measured depth was around 55-60% remaining as of a month ago). I log every gallon of gas by the current mileage. On full synthetic oil I'm getting 27 daily to/from work ("leadfooted" - not granny drivin' on V4) but only 33 on pure Hwy at 80mph. Had exactly one defect - manufacturing defect for rear speaker covers - they crumbled after about 3 years.

Besides the Honda Accord, no other car listed comes near the Camry. I have had this car for 70k now, and nothing besides the tires have been replaced, not even the brakes. If you want a car that starts up every day, is safe, comfortable, and is refined, buy a Camry.

I purchased this car new in 2005 w/all the bells and whistles avail at that time. It has been a wonderful car and handles well in all environments. It has carried us over Cascade Mountain passes with deep snow and safely across the deserts of Nevada, California and Arizona in the summer. The fastest I have ever driven the car is 95. From 65 to 95 stability seemed to improve. Solid and predictable. It handles corners extremely well, generally 15/20 mph over posted limits. Perhaps the tires help. They are Bridgestone V rated. Very comfortable on long 8-10 hrs driving days. Not as quiet as I would like but!! Will probably buy Toyota again.

My first Toyota, everyone raves about these cars. I can't seem to get more than 18 mpg in the city in this car. I have a short distance commute but I should be able to break 20. Car is going to dealership. HATE the tranny, bad shifting in low gears, drags between 1-2-3 gears. Fine after you hit 40 mph. Car stereo is the pits. Does not get good reception. Was told to upgrade would cost >$1,000 for basically the same unit. Needs new steering wheel computer for new stereo. Aftermarket stereos would disable steering wheel controls. Miss my 1998 Nissan Altima that I traded in; I passed by an 04 Infiniti I35 because of the gas mileage. With gas at $3.50 I am trading this in before summer.

Third Toyota owned. Toyota changed to a direct wire transmission with which they have acknowledged having rough shifting problems, particularly when driven by more than one driver. Also has soft braking, again acknowledged by Toyota, which makes for unsure stopping. Seats are not comfortable on long trips and overall quality is not as expected of Toyota which now appears more interested in outselling its competition rather than upholding past quality standards.

I just bought this car and I am not a car driving kind of person-BUT this car is great! It has high mileage, but everyone knows that Toyotas can get over 2000 mi. and still keep on going. Foreign Cars are Not Always the Best

I have had this 2005 Toyota Camry XLE V6 for two months now. I am surprised how disappointed I am with the driving experience of the Camry. I had a 1997 Buick LeSabre with a 3.8L V6 engine that got better gas mileage than this car, and it was about 500 lbs HEAVIER. This 3.0L is should get better gas mileage than it does (for me 15 city, 23 hwy). My Buick glided on the road, more bumps with the Camry. And the transmission is the worst. It hesitates going between 20 to 70 mpg. Not good for city traffic. I can hear the wind and outside noises much more than the Buick. I am trying to trade-in for an American car this time, at least for a better performing V6 engine.

18 months, 18,000 miles, like it a lot

Minimum 23 mpg mixed fwys & surface rds in Minn. winter, to 32 mpg summer freeways 70-80 mph. I'm 6'2", head- and legroom fine, with seats low and far back. Comfortable even on 500-mile drives. Short seats no problem. Tranny hesitates when accelerating from stop or very low speed--a real problem if you're often accelerating from very low speeds to merge with fast-moving traffic. It's a real design flaw, not a question of learning a knack for handling the gas pedal. Degree of hesitation varies unpredictably, once it a while it bogs down badly for a moment. This is the one thing that would make me consider another make/model. Fine at higher speeds, though.

This is company vehicle, have had it for 2 years, 50,000 miles. Car is peppy for a 4 cylinder, much better than the Mazda6 I had before. Overall, car is very refined, smooth, quiet, very reliable. A couple beefs; some squeaks have appeared in this car and I have some rust appearing on the B pillar. Also, Toyota paint is very soft, chips and scratches easily - had same paint issue on 2001 Camry. Despite minor issues, would definitely get another one.

Our Camry has been flawless in the two years we've owned it. We have consistently gotten over 33 mpg and it handled two New Hampshire winters without a hitch. It's fun to drive, has decent pickup, and is comfortable to ride in for long trips. My wife and I have driven a number of other midsized rental cars on vacations and not once have we found a better vehicle for our needs.

Yes, there is a hesitation problem, usually not from a long stop but when you slow down to the lowest gears then try to accelerate quickly. So it jerks sometimes. But once up and going, the car is very smooth and quiet. The engine sounds bad or burdened when accelerated hard though. Even though it's SE (V6), the ride is very comfortable even on the some bumps. I compared it with Honda accord (4-cyl). I felt that Accord has better transmission and build quality but the ride is terrible. I am getting 23.5 mpg on mostly highway usually traveling at 70 mph. It has a V6 punch and is somewhat fun to drive. The seat is comfy and it handles well.

Overall this is a great car. It's comfortable to drive and gets good mpg for a V6. Transmission downshifts somewhat harsh at lower speeds. No repairs in over 2 years. Wish I could have waited for a 2006.

The Camry has more pep than people think. I passed a Prius on the road thinking "How bad does this look that a Camry is speeding by?" Although many Camry drivers may be the more cautious type, they drive as fast as the driver wants.

I had the car for 1.5 years and just got rid of it - I couldn't wait to do so. The auto tranny is awful. It hesitates when starting from full stop. Even worse, I had to make way for other cars when going uphill - it doesn't downshift unless floored. The car has big bodyroll when cornering. The steering is so light at high speed and it pulls to the right. Vague steering and a soft suspension make it drive like a boat. Worst of all, if you open the window when there's water on the roof, water drops into the car right on window & door lock buttons - a poor design. Bright spots are great fuel economy and large space. Camry is a pain.

Bought this car pre-owned. Some friends owned one. Would caution pre-owned purchasing. Thought Toyota had a better car.This car is slow when first pushing on the gas, and shifts slow. Thought it would get better gas mileage than it does. The good news, it's fast when it finally gets going. Also, expected a quieter vehicle, but I have found that it makes little noises as if it wasn't pieced together tightly and some things are now loose.

I am very pleased with my purchase. It has been absolutely reliable with no repairs needed - just routine oil changes. As far as comfort, absolutely amazing. Extremely quiet with a great ride and ZERO squeaks/rattles. The 2.4L four cylinder engine is wayyyy ahead of its time. Lots of low-end torque and smooth power delivery. The '05 facelift of the 5th generation of Camry looks classy and chrome accents in the interior were a nice touch. The car has a very upscale feel. I wish side/torso airbags were standard instead of optional and that 4-wheel disc brakes were standard as well. Both of these issues have been addressed in the 2007 redesign.

Transmission is awful

The transmission is really really bad. It has been changed twice and repaired twice on my car. 1-2, 2-3 shifting is awful and vibrates. Then comes the high rear end obstructing visibility for parking. The front bumper catches parking wedges, which cause it to tear the thin plastic undercarrage.

Driving the Toyota Camry LE is a memorable experience. The power seat is exceptionally comfortable. As a senior citizen I find the instrument lighting to be near perfection. It is clean and simple and very easy for tired eyes to read day or night. I find that I don't need to wear my glasses to see the instruments. The transmission shifts so smoothly that it is dificult to tell when it actually shifts in normal conditions. Placement of controls is near perfect for me. Finest auto I've owned. Looks, handling, finish are all superb. I have never checked actual mileage but know it goes a long way on a tank. Four cylinder has power to spare, who needs more. Freeway handling is excellent, before you know it you're at 80 mph plus. Reliability excellent, I've yet to make a repair of any kind. Love the large trunk. Tremendous value for money spent. I will definitely buy another.

I have had my car for two years and 30,000 miles. Not one complaint. Rides like a champ, roomy, big trunk. My prior vehicles were small pickups so I am not a nit picky person when it comes to performance. I am amazed that this car is so smooth and silent. Not a single squeak or anything. I have changed the oil every 5000 miles as recommended and rotated the tires. Follow the owner's guide for your type of driving conditions.

Purchased our Camry about 9 months ago, and haven't looked back since. This is our first toyota and certanly won't be our last. Since owner ship we've put 50000km's on the car and it hasent given us 10 minutes trouble. The car rides beautifully and has no problem crusing at 90mph all day. The trunk is roomy, back seat has huge amounts of leg room. The city mileage is not as great as we expected, but highway mileage far exceded the manufacturers #'s. The power of the 4cyl is right on par with other manufacturers. I would highly recomend this vechicle to anybody that want's a reliable, comfortable and roomy family sedan.

I have owned a 05,04, and 02 Camry LE 4cycl. I am a Honda Accord fan, owned may Accords , some to 220k mi, so am not being bias to the Camry. But Toyota ha s built a great car! The 05 ha s anti lock breaks and the sponginess' of the front breaks have been tweaked in 05, this is a common compliant from myself, friends and other reviewers. Yet in 05 they have tuned up the suspension to compensate for the soft rid e to the braking. My favorite car to date is a 1997 Lexus Es 300, I must say that the 05 Camry has many similarities, soaks up bumps, rattle free and decent real world handling between soft ride and decent handling. This car is GREAT on mileage , 22-24 city 30-38 hwy

We chose Camry because of reliability. I wish now I had not. Our 05 Camry has a problem knowing when to shift (either up or down). The dealership indicates the new electronic transmission is known for this problem and apparently Toyota does not have an answer. The hesitation in shifting is troublesome and will probably get worse with age. In addition to the transmission the Camry has very soft braking, another acknowledged defect by the dealer but one for which they have no cure. So beware!

The 5-speed transmission on the V6 is dangerous. When you pull into from traffic and accelerate there is too long a lag time before the car begins to move and then it takes too long to get up to speed. The transmission kickdown to pass can take 1.5 to 2 secs before it kicks in. Almost had a wreck because of it.

I bought my 2005 LE Camry about 3 months ago and so far no problems. This is a roomy and comfortable car. It's also pretty smooth compared to my other car. I've only noticed some slight hesitation when I try to accelerate quickly. This is a reliable, practical, comfortable and roomy car.

Went from a Sportrac to the Camry when gas first went through the roof. Mileage is not as good as advertised, but better than the sportrac. Wish the Lumbar support would get a little more full. This car is great to drive and is comfortable for the most part. Trunk is huge and expands when you lay the back seats down. Stereo system is awesome. Saw some 07 models over the weekend and they are even better looking. I'm sure I'll stick with Toyota, probably even the Camry.

I have had my Camry SE (4 cyl.) for almost two years, and have put a lot of miles on it. Absolutely no problems with it. I had always known the Toyota Camry to be a very dependable car. I had always thought it to be an ordinary, "family"-looking sedan though. When I saw the 2005 though my opinion changed. It seemed to have a sleeker presence to it. Since adding my new surfboard rack and front-end bra to the car, I have friends commenting on how sporty it looks. Have to admit, the new 2007 Camry is an awesome, very stylish car. I will likely make that my next car. Until then though, very happy with the 2005. I'm sold on Toyota. The car, the dealer, the company, the service.

This is my fifth Toyota (third camry) that I have owned. This car has been very good without any problems except the factory audio system. The am/fm radio is very poor in quality, the windshield antenna does not pull in very many am or fm stations. The XM Satellite radio performs very poorly, the stations fade in and out because of the poorly designed and mount position of the XM antenna. The LCD display is a very dim green and almost unreadable during daylight conditions. The engine and five speed automatic transmission performs very good. Very comfortable ride and good fuel economy, 24 mpg around town 29 mpg on the road. I will buy another Camry, 2007 SE V6.

For a front wheel drive car the handling is great and the 4 is peppy, quiet and very fuel efficient even with the old 4 speeed auto. BUT - I have driven all kinds of handling tuned cars in my life both personally owned and in my career in law enforcement and I can say without hesitation that the SE rides entirely too rough for its level of handling.The firm seats offer no help either. It is as bad as my Jeep and will soon lead to a trade as my wife is sick of it. Maybe a new V6 LE if the ride is better. If not, an Avalon. I can give up some handling to save my back.

I am totally pleased with the performance of this, my 3rd Camry. It's very smooth, very quiet, no squeeks. Has more than enough power entering freeways. Visibility is great, though I always add those little square mirrors on both side mirrors, on every car I have for extra safety. The car handles very well, It's simple to drive with intuitive controls. The premium sound CD player is very good. I''m not in love with the 'looks' of it, I DO know how dependable these cars tend to be, and I DO love that! My husband wanted a 6cyl. 4 would have done it for me. I've had both. 1/3 less mpg. with the 6cyl. 4r's are good and safe, peppy enough. These days it matters more mpg = $$$.

I owned the Camry for almost 2 years now. This car rides very smooth and comfort, good gas mileage. Steering feels very unstable on windy day, highway only. My only concern is power steer broke at 30K miles, whole rack and pinion system replaced. I am very suprised, this seems to be very early for Toyota car. Manufacture covered the cost, around $900. Other than this problem, I think Camry is a good car for family.

Ever since I purchased my Toyota, I have had problems with the transmission wanting to downshift when going down a hill, and also not wanting to shift up when accelerating on the highway. The front dashboard has begun to pop up little air bubbles underneath the layer of vinyl covering it.

Fuel Economy Disappoints

This model is up to Toyota's standards in build quality and reliability, but it suffers in comparison with my '98 Camry 4 (and my wife's former '97) in two respects. The engine is louder under acceleration, producing a very audible roar, and the fuel economy is less. The '97 and '98, EPA rated at 23/30, achieved 22/31. The '05, EPA rated 24/34, is getting 20/30 at best. If it weren't for the clearly inflated EPA rating, my disappointment would be less. Additionally, the dashboard display of avg mpg is consistently 5-6 mpg too high. If it says 36, I'm getting 30; if it says 24, I'm getting 19. Makes me think I'm getting EPA mileage when I'm not. How convenient for Toyota!

Well this being my first new car I can say that I did the research and even rented the 2004 mdl.for a weekend cruise to Vegas from L.A. The rental handled and performed flawlesly as does my 05 mdl. The only dif is the 5 speed automatic upgrade from the 4 spd on the 04 mdl. This car is for the most part a pleasure to drive, city driving or freeway or Death Valley for that matter.My avg frwy mpg is 32 and I don't drive the speed limit if at all possible . No speeding tickets yet ! Los Angeles in town mpg is realisticly 24. Toyota really did this little 4 cyl.eng. very right. There is no lack of power with it loaded or not.

The car is very surprising. I had a 99 Malibu with a 6 cyl. The Camry will leave it sitting. Good acceleration and much better gas mileage. Malibu 24mpg Camry 34mpg. Pretty comfy on long trips. very quiet. I tented the windows and installed in channel rain guards. Hated cracking the window and getting soaked. But it really looks sharp now. Lots of these on the road in SC. I got the car on the 39 month lease. I may buy the car. If not I will get another just like it. My opinion, best car on the road.

This car is surprisingly good, even for a 7 time Toyota/Lexus owner. This is our 2nd Camry, the first being a new 2003 XLE V6. That car was loaded and well enjoyed. However, the '05 LE V6 has proven to be a better car than even the higher priced, heavily equiped XLE V6 of two years prior. The basic LE's V6 is much stronger, quieter and gets great fuel economy over the '03. The ride quality is even more preferable in the LE with stability over rough roads at speed and mild understeer when pushed hard through turns. The sound quality of the basic 6 speaker, single CD stereo is even better that that of the 8 speaker JBL in-dash 6 CD system. Overall, reliable high-quality transportation.. again.

I have enjoyed owning my Camry LE. I did obtain an additional safety option of side front & rear air bags since we have 7 yr old child. And also opted for the steel alloy wheels. It's been a great family car & fun to drive. Can't beat the gas mileage & have had no mechanical problems since ownership. Would suggest lighted window & locks for the interior. But other than that; it's a best buy! I will definitely get another Toyota when the time comes.

A loyal toyota camry owner, I traded my 2000 LE-4 banger with 150,000 miles on this 05 V6. I can say that I am happy with the car...typical toyota, rides smooth, quiet, good service from the dealership, and a price that does not require a second mortgage. The V6 is peppy and takes the car down the road quickly. Careful tho', it's easy to break the speed limit. Is it better that the 2000 overall? Probably not. This one has a rattle in the driver's side door. Aggrevating!!.. The 2000 was a tank, even at 150K miles...never rattled, probably never will for whoever has it now. Biding my time for a new 07. Don't be afraid to buy a camry...

First the car is great for the money. Pep, power, acceleration. The downside is turning not as tight as Accord and fabric tends to catch lint. 3M makes special lint guard for autos/boats which should come with black ones. I love to drive to work still, and the the speaker system is balanced quality, just not highly refined Bose like a Maxima. Burns regular and getting 29 MPG on half highway, half city with agressive driving. Get a 5 speed manual and you'll have no regrets.

Owned 3 months with 1600 miles now, very dissatisfied with transmission hesitation. After normal slowing down and then reaccelerating, engine doesn't seem to know what to do. I'm praying Toyota will recall. Getting approx. 21 mpg. A/C and temperature lighted controls along with clock/passenger air bag monitor hard to see with normal sunlight. Love a breeze from a sunroof; but with Camry's open fully, can't feel any air w/o opening windows too. Performance P215/55/17 tires noisy on rough roads and over $175 each to buy - that's over $700 plus taxes & installation to replace all 4 tires & rated for only 20,000 miles. Front end design seems to attract many road stones and chips paint easily.

V6 SE, quiet and smooth ride. Springs and frame are adequately stiffer, yet still absorbs the bumps. Engine power is a little low for 3.3L. Reasonable fuel economy. Seat comfort and ergonomics are perfect. 5-speed automatic transmission seamless transtion but takes a while to adapt to the drivers' habit. Throttle by wire can get a little touchy sometimes. Factory Options get expensive really quick. Dual exhaust would make much sportier look. Toyota build, Lexus quality and style.

I purchased an XLE 4 door Toyota with a navigation system which only came in a package consisting of heated seats and side air bags. The heated seats stay on for 5 minutes at a time and then shut off and come on again. The navigation system isn't programmed for many local streets and often suggests turning left when you need to turn right on interstate highways. I regret spending the additional money on this option. The heated seats should stay on at the driver's discretion. There is unacceptable road noise level. Long trips are not pleasant. I regret buying this car, and I can't wait to sell it and purchase another car. It won't be a Toyota!

Do not like the high rear end on the Camry. Do not like the rebound sound from the rear of the auto when you hit a moderate size bump. The front bumper catches parking wedges, which cause it to tear the thin plastic undercarrage.

We purchased our 2002 Camry in Jan.2002. This our first Toyota, replacing a 1997 Taurus. The Camry is smoother, quieter, roomier and more fun to drive. This car is well-equipped for a basic-model Camry. Other than an instrument cluster that was replaced at 15000 miles for giving erratic readings, we have had no problems whatsoever. With 75,000 miles, this car still drives like new. I would definitely buy another one.

After my Honda was totaled and only ever driving an Accord I decided to look at the Camry and was quite surprised. It drives and rides like a luxury car, very smooth and quiet. The features that come standard are great: auto lights, passenger airbag sensor, radio controls on steering wheel, auto locks when in gear, and keyless entry. The back seat is very roomy for adults with the headrests and the truck is the biggest I've ever seen. There's also tons of storage so the car never looks cluttered. I've only had the car for a few days, but think I made the best purchase ever. I love driving this car.

I really love this car. I wanted something that handled well, went fast and was sporty, with cool stuff. This car is cool. The engine is sweet, it accelerates beautifully, and it is smooth and quiet. I often don't know it is running. I have a bad back and was worried about comfort in the seats. It is just great. I LOVE this car.

The 2005 Camry is convenient and even comfort vehicle. However, the manual transmission on Camry STD 5M I am currently using is certainly the worst one I've ever tested. Those who are thinking about manual transmission should stay away from Toyota.

After 1 yr and 25k miles later we still love our Camry. Avg. City/Hwy fuel efficiency is a solid 32mpg and no problems to speak off. Tire wear is normal (rotated twice), the leather seats are showing no wear at all, the paint is still factory glossy. A seatbelt mechanism recall was taken care by the dealership within 1 hour.

This is my first "foreign-made" car, after owning GM's for the last 30 years. I'm counting on Toyota's reputation for reliability and value. I've owned my Camry XLE for 6 months and love the comfort--even better than my 1995 Buick Regal, which I didn't think could be beat for long-distance driving comfort. Other than for oil changes, I've only had my Camry to the dealership twice for a hesitation problem between 1st and 2nd gears. When cornerning, or accelerating after a slow down, my car seems to remain in 1st gear at 20 mph, then zooms off all at once. Dealership has re-set the drive-by-wire twice. I'll guess I'll just put up with this minor problem.

I bought the Toyota Camry for my Real Estate business. I have put on 30,000 miles in one year. The car is problem free and stands up to the highway. It is easy to drive and comfortable to ride in. The Camry is a great car for commuting or on the open highway. I only had to replace a tire which was ruined by a nail. The gas mileage has been usually 30-34mpg. On my first trip to Texas in the car, I actually got 37 mpg since I had the cruise control set. I have had the car serviced on time and have had no mechanical difficulties other than the flat tire. The 4 cyl engine packs a lot of power and the 5 speed transmission adds to the great performance of this car. It is a 10.

This is a 4th Camry that I owned. My father still drives my first Camry (160,000 miles on odometer). The handling and reliability of the SE impressed me from the first time a test drove the vehicle. The comfort and the feel of a sports car in a 4 door family sedan. I test drove BMW, SAAB and several other sedans. For the money - can't beat the Camry.

Car is OK but the transmission shift problem drive me nuts. Dealer says its normal, I just don't buy it. This is the only car that I have ever owned that has had a problem like this and it is my first foreign car. I have had cars since 1969 and never had a transmission shift like this. I have driven rental unit Camry's that were great. Why my car and why will the dealer not fix it?

My mom just got this Camry and it is awsome for the price. I drive it whenever she's not driving it and it is way more comfortable than my 2000 Mazda Protege. The trim is really nice and cabin noise is very low. It drives at very low rpms, even when your going 80+ on the freeway. Handling is a bit sluggish but it isn't supposed to be a race car. The steering wheel turns very easily as if it is a rear wheel drive car. I am very satisfied with the gas mileage and oil changes are only every 4 months or 5000 miles which is great.

Our last Camry, a 1990, was traded in after 14 1/2 years. It was still running perfectly, no problems all those years. We expect the same from this one. It is smooth running, quiet, good acceleration, plenty of leg and head room. The trunk is very large and rear seats fold to to carry large objects. The navigational display is somewhat difficult to use, but once you learn, it is very helpful in finding stores and addresses.

This is my second Camry. Performance and comfortability are excellent. The design is great. However the front and rear bumpers are a bit disappointing. The camry sits so low that I scraped paint when I parked and didn't even know it. It was a small scrape. I returned to the dealer to have it fixed and was told they would have to replace the whole front bumper. Since then, I have noticed many Camry's that have the same problem as mine. I didn't have it fixed because I would probably be replacing bumpers forever with the design of the car. I will replace it when I get ready to sell it which will probably be soon. The car's exterior is too delicate for me.

I had 4 Mercury Sable's (I lease autos for 3 years) and when I heard that Ford/Mercury wasn't making them anymore I leased the Camry and immediately liked it's handling, performance and comfortability. Even after driving v6 camrys, I'm sold on the I4 engine. Although not as much throttle as the v6, it does give enough acceleration for hwy merging and driving up on the SoCal hills, credit the 5 speed auto and torque. Plus its easy on the petrol. One thing to get used to though is the car is sensitive to driver demand; when passing, only have to press the pedal slightly to invoke a downshift for more passing power. Some harder and engine is running 4k+ rpm. Since the engine bay is dampened, there isn't much audible feedback as to engine speed, but its a trade-off for a quiet cabin. Other than that, interior controls are top notch, lots of storage cubbies, and comfy seats. Bright headlights.

We got mechanic's input on the Camry for a year before we actually purchased and they were right on--it's a superb vehicle and is all the car we need. We put on many miles and the fuel efficiency is excellent. If I were to buy again I would probably choose the V-6 over the 4 cylinder for get-up-and- go power but I think our 4 cylinder gets better mileage. Wonderful sound system, comfortable ride, and tons of space! I think that is the thing that decided us on the Camry over anything else-- it has a very nice roomy interior -- much more so than most of its competitors. Overall--9.8!

It's my third Toyota and the only one with the quality in the toilet. When just 200miles, it started to jerk/hesitate. Now with 700miles, the back seat starts to rattle. 1-touch power window behaves inconsistently-- sometimes 1-touch open it fully, sometimes I have to press it all the time. I will trade it for something better soon.

The SE has a suspension that beats the Accord in sport handling and has a better ride. In addition, it offers safety features not offered on the Accord- traction control, stability control, and emergency brake assist.

Purchased the car on a Monday; found over 20 significant/serious defects such as front end misalignment, severe vibration, chipped paint, misaligned doors and many others. Dealership manager graciously exchanged the vehicle the following week. Second car is a lot better; smooth like a Toyota should be.Still has a poor paint job, misaligned doors and an annoying rear suspension "clunk". Fuel economy is 32 highway. Quality is a lot lower than my old '98 Accord, but acceptable. The engineers did an excellent job with the design but the factory floor (made in US) rendition of the design is deplorable.Options are over priced.
