My service in Eden Motor with Tony was great! great customer service with well explained information. He answered all of my questions although his English wasn't so great. He tried his best so that I can understand him. I recommend this place to buy either used or new cars and to gain more information.

I am the original owner. The repairs i have had to make ate all expensive. The transmission died out at 100 k and even after a rebuild it has never been the same. Plus, do not but this car if you have to drive in snow. The engine has a lot of torque and you have the Manu matic transmission. Can't get good traction on slippery surfaces.

This is our families 3rd Nissan and we couldn't have asked for a better car. As long as you do regular maintenance these cars will drive forever. We currently have 181K miles on it and it's still running strong.

I bought this car in 2012 as a going to college car. I paid $8,000 for the car and added on the Nissan Warranty. This is my 4th year with the car and I bought it with 140,000 miles it currently has 191,000 miles. So far the repairs I've had to put in it are ridiculous! I've had to replace both CV Axels, AC Compressor, Power Steering Pump, Power Steering Valve, Alternator, Lifters and Pulleys in the engine, Drivers Window (motor and regulator) and I'm sure there are other things that just aren't coming to mind right now. The total cost of all of this is well over $6,000. To replace the drivers window alone was $400. I've also had to buy 8 tires in the time frame I've owned it which a single tire costs between $175-$200. Its an expensive car to own but the luxury and amenities it offers are great! I love my car but it seems that once it hit 160,000 miles it started falling apart. Also DO NOT PURCHASE THE WARRANTY!! They replaced my AC Compressor and a pulley and told me they were done paying for things on my car because that expense was more than the original cost of the warranty. Other than the problems its had its been a very reliable car for me. I absolutely love it but don't fool yourself the parts for this car are EXPENSIVE!

Great combination of sport and luxury. We purchased this car used in 2007 with 14k miles. It now has 160k. I have had my share of fun in the car with great acceleration, suspension, and steering. It also gets close to 30 mpg on the highway. The car doesn't look like its from 2005, the dash was far ahead of its time. The only issue we have had is the transmission started to go around 120k miles and have since had it replaced for a pretty penny. Other than that there have only been relatively in expensive repairs and minor rust ( but that is expected in the northeast). Great car for a mix of sportiness, luxury, and even decent fuel economy!

Yeah I said it. Transmission shifting from drive feels like someone's rear ending you at 35 mph. I've owned 3 Nissans, but you can believe ill never own one or recommend one to anybody. I cant believe they don't do something about this. Just shows how greedy the company is. Well how ever we do this lets make then fix it before someone gets hurt.

We bought our Maxima used and got a great deal on it. It was super reliable, super fast and had plenty of space. This car was an awesome drive. The exterior design was great in its day but aged quickly I feel like. The dash design was stupid. The fake suede material on the dash didn't fool anyone into luxury. The rest of the car was great. We had no problem squeezing 29-30 mpg out on the highway after being told by the dealership it would never happen.

I have bought all new cars Malibu(150k), Camry(225K) & donated both cars while running good. Then I bought new Toyota sienna ( 252K & running good), I decided to buy new & different car & I bought brand new design Maxima "Nissan's Flagship Car" with so much hope. It ran good for 2 yrs & then started breaking down. Dealer fixed whatever was under warranty. After all warranties expired major things started breaking. I replaced all Camshaft sensors. A/C was fixed twice still leaking. Struts and tie-rods were replaced. Within last year timing chain guides & transmission broke, estimate ~$7000. Now I was told it leaks oil. Haven't decide whether to repair/resale. I still love to buy new Nissan.

I purchased my 2005 with 13K miles - not perfect on the maintenance, but I do take care of it. This car has surpassed 200K miles (do a lot of driving). Problem with transmission and dash warnings with TCS with car stalling not shifting into gear. Transmission shop wanted 3800.00 :-(. Got second opinion and got computer analysis. Spent $160.00 on sensors and hubby did the work. Hubby automatic Hero Status :-). Car runs like a baby again. Thank you YouTube.

This has been the best and worst I have ever owned. The car handles great. Gets 30 mpg at 70mph. Wasnt expensive. Beautiful to look at. But it has been the most un reliable piece I have ever had the displease of owning. Bought the car with 100k. Two weeks after buying it transmision rebuild($4400). Then broke the cv joints because the transmission stressed them slamming into gear before the rebuild. Them a complete suspension rebuild. Now it need timing chain guides. Memory seats never worked. I have had over $8000 in repairs to this car and now..... The transmission is goin out again at 160k. Cant wait to get me an american car. FIrst and last Jap car I will own.

Add me to the list of people with a Nissan Maxima and a bad transmission. Mine had only 52,000 miles when the thing started slipping and lurching in the low gears. A trip to my local transmission specialist confirms the worst, at a cost of $3100 to $4000 to repair.

I bought a new 2005 Nissan Maxima and recently I have had some transmission issues. The gears have been sticking and slipping and so I took it to the dealership and was informed that I need a new transmission and that my warranty expired 890 miles before I took it in (my warranty on the transmission was until the car reached 60,000 miles). The dealership then informed me that it would cost $5300 to replace this. I did some research on the internet and found out that I am no the only person with this issue, and I also noticed that it is a widespread issue for the model year I have.

This car has a bit of an acquired taste. It isn't very pretty when you first look at it, with its big shiny braces, and enormous wheels. It almost seems obnoxious, this one. The end is rather fat, the front is awful to look at, but there is something about this car that keeps you hooked. The inside is nothing to brag about, but what's under the hood, that's a whole different story.

Don't buy this car, I have experienced one problem after another from the transmission failing in 2 years from the catalytic converter and solenoid failing at 5. That is over $8,000 in repairs. Do your homework on the Maxima years 2004-06 (mine is a 2005). There is a class action lawsuit against Nissan. Beware, this is an absolute lemon!

Recently I bought a 2005 Maxima without enough prior research (In fact I went to the dealership to buy a Honda and the Salesman convinced me to buying this one instead.) Now, after reading all these horrible reviews about 2004-06 Maxima, everyday I start the car fearing that the transmission is going to fail......it is a real pain to drive a car that we cannot trust....

I have two other reviews on this car. I bought it used with around 60,000 miles on it. Drove perfect until around 119,000. Like ever other 2004-2006 maxima, the transmission started jerking, kicking, and slipping. I really like this car. I had the car put in the shop when it had 127,000 miles on it, to have the transmission rebuilt. They had it for about 2 weeks (shop was really busy). I picked it up and he said that he did not replace the transmission (took it to a private transmission speciallest, not nissan dealer) he put a Shifter Kit in it and flushed the transmission fluid and not the car has 132,000 miles on it and drives smooth, on occasions it will slip but hardly noticable.

Well my last review was in November 2010, and I must say my car is doing great. Even though it is 6 years old, I still get plenty of compliments. The ride quality, performance, and basic usability in this car has been awesome. I get about 24.7 MPG, on premium fuel, in mixed driving. City is about 19-23 MPG, and 30-33 MPG on the highway. As for the transmission, now that I've realized, I should have checked the transmission oil often than rely on the manufactures recommendation. It's been over a year since the rebuilt, and she is still shifting smoothly. I do the oil change myself, and ONLY use Nissan's K-Matic Oil. Do it yourself, it's MUCH cheaper than having the dealer do it for you.

Only buy if it's a steal!!!

The car itself has been good to me for the three years I've owned it until recently. The transmission is garbage. Just like everyone else my Maxima bumps, randomly shifts, accelerates, and downshifts hard when stopping. Sometimes it won't even downshift when I stop it will stay in 3rd gear. Only 70k on the car. This car has been serviced on time by Nissan the entire three years I've owned it so it has been taken care of. It's just a known defect with these cars. I thought I bought a Nissan not a Dodge! $4500 to repair the transmission. Who's going to pay that much for a car that is 6 years old? I'm looking to trade it in and leave Nissan alone because they won't stand by their products!

I bought the sixth generation 2005 Maxima when it was abt 49k miles. At abt 70k miles I starting experiencing transmission problems. shifting from park to drive, it jerks and it is really bad when the engine is warm. from drive to reverse or reverse to drive it does the same thing. The engine slips and the RPM races to 5 or 6 when you accelerate without any pick up. When I contacted Nissan they told me there is nothing they can do about it. Thousands of sixth generation maxima owners are having the same problem but nissan will not own up to their defect and recall and fix the problem. I am going back to TOYOTA. always faithful. NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE WILL I BUY A NISSAN PRODUCT.

I loved this car at first, but now, i don't even like driving the car because of the AWFUL transmission! It's so bad! I will NOT replace the transmission! I have been driving with it jerking and hesitating for about 5 months and i am trading it in this weekend! I have been looking at the 2008-2010 Honda Accords and that is probably what i am gonna end up getting. This car is just a head ache now! I have had two previous maxima's and they were GREAT! my 3rd Maxima I have owned and by far the absolute worst!! I have spent well over $8,000 on mechanical repairs (not maintenance) and it still has under 80k miles on it. Transmission valve body, both catalytic converters, both primary and secondary timing chains tensioners and guides, multiple sensors, 4 sets of headlights (considered maintenance if it were only 2, but 4 sets!!) I wish I still had my 96 which my neighbor still drives w/ 250k+ miles with minor repairs and maintenance.

I bought my 2005 Nissan Maxima SL with about 71000 miles on it, i now have 123000 on it. I LOVE the car and how it drives and looks. It has plenty of power. But, my transmission is slowly dieing on me. This is a common problem with these cars. I read the other day that, with these cars you have to change the transmission oil every 30,000 miles for it to last. I haven't decieded if i am going to get ride of it yet, or just replace the transmission. If i decide just to replace the transmission, i will make sure to change the transmission oil every 30,000 miles, if not earlier. I truely love everthing about this car.

I got a good Price and the Car was Just like New. the reason for the Owner to Return the Car was for some Gases Fumes from the Engine getting Inside the Cabin Area. They Fixed but the Client did not want the Car back. Dealer took it Back by Buy Back Program(AKA-Lemon Law Statues) Since, the Car did not have any mayor Problems with it. Just the Regular Maintenance Parts & Services. The only thing the Car was Fixed was the Sway Bar and some other Front Steering Parts but under the Warranty during 1st 3 months. Spoke to Nissan and they won't give me the time of day to help replace my transmission. It's been replaced once already and they won't listen. Besides the transmission, the lumbar system which was recalled is broken again, the fog lights have been replaced at least 6 times. Nissan has the worst customer service at their HQ. I wouldn't buy another Nissan. They don't care about their customers, so why should I patronize them by purchasing another vehicle from them. They really suck.

We purchased our car in Nov.of 2008. The car ran beautifully for about a year. Then around mid 2009 the car began jerking. The jerks became more and more violent as time progressed. We then had it checked by Nissan, but it was too late for the power-train warranty. Thankfully we purchased the CarMax Ext'd. warranty. Had the job done by AAMCO,and about two months later the problem arose again. They then replaced the valve-body,and its now running "better", but not like before. I truly love my Maxima, but I feel Nissan has neglected many of their customers. I just wished that Nissan took some responsibility for their actions. Overall it is a GREAT car. The 07-08 is a much better choice.

I have had my maxima for quite some time now and I'm just experiencing the problems. I now have to replace my transmission, which seems to be a common problem with this car. And the transmission is very expensive. We are trying to find a cheaper route than the 4,000 price the transmission company is charging. But before the transmission I didn't have any problems. I think its quite unfair that EVERYONE is having the same problem with their car. That means its a problem in the manufacturing of this vehicle..And to think I was going to consider getting another maxima! I dont think so! not a good buy!

It happens when I am sitting at a light or have my car running then I put the car in drive from 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. When I am driving it's so bad I cannot sip my coffee. Feels as though the engine is going to fall out! Nissan refuses to recall this issue and fix the problem. After reading many complaints, I guess I should feel a little fortunate that this has happened to me at 120,000 miles instead of the average 80,000. I would not recommend this car at all to anyone!!!

I bought my Maxima brand new. I now have 89,000 miles. I have been very happy with this car but maintenance items are very expensive. Other than regularly scheduled maintenance, the struts and A/C has been replaced. The sunroof sometimes will not close. The car is very fast but the turning radius for this car is VERY wide.

Still going.

I bought this car with less than 23,000 miles now I am over 60,000 the car is smooth and still fun to drive. As for mechanical issues I have had a few my transmission was changed out at 53,000 due to harsh down shifts usually between 2nd and third luckily the car was still under warranty and had to replace a rear wheel bearing recently. Otherwise I still love the car my average mpg is about 22 in the city and 29 on the hwy. It seems that the only major issue that people are having is the transmission (which cost a fortune to replace) otherwise the car is solid. Maybe Nissan will own up to there defect.

Not a good buy!

I bought this car at about 20,000 miles and it was fine at first. But then started having problems and had to have the transmission replaced at about 70,000 miles, good thing I had extended warranty otherwise I'd be in the hole for about $5,000+! What a rip! So I took it in for an oil change and apparently it now has something cracked that leads to the transmission. SO OVER IT!

I have had this car for the past 5 years and its been very expensive. The same problems over and over again. The transmission gave up, the Ac doesn't work, timing belt has to be replaced. I am a teacher and I'm broke. I have to drive 40 miles every day hoping this car doesn't break on me. I replaced the transmission already but now there is another noise. I need a refund on this car. It is not good quality and its leaving a lot of us broke during these hard times.

Bought Brand new from dealership. Like interior and exterior but quality is bad. Coolant leaks cost $400 and Timing Chain also went bad $1500. A coworker had Frontier pick up also had the same problem. Google on Nissan cars and trucks with V6, it seems like common problem. Never heard timing chain replace before. Had 2004 Corolla with 162,000 miles and still running like brand new. Go with Toyota or Honda and forget nissan.

First please sign my petition we can complain all day online on blogs but unless something is done or someone dies nothing will be done. The car exterior design is great and fuel economy is great the rest of the car. Disappointing. I have everything from transmission engine and electrical issues. I have less than 60,000+ on it and started having issues after 30,000. I have taken the car to the dealer nothing was done contacted Nissan nothing was done. Nissan needs to pay for what their customers are going through. I recently had an accident do to the transmission jerking basically out of gear and I ran up on a curb that cost me $2000 in damages.

The car was bought brand new and I have not had many problems with it, the struts had to be replaced once but that was under warranty so there was no problem there. Other than that the car runs perfect except for a rattling type noise that I think might be the timing chain but that's only heard at really low speeds when the engine is straining to go up a hill, I had it looked at and replaced but it makes the same noise. The car has around 61k on it and runs like its brand new. It is very very fast and really quick, it handles exceptionally well and it drives like a sports car I absolutely love it and have fun every time I drive it. I would recommend this car to anyone. P. Got it brand new in 05, it runs great extremely quick and very fast and the handling is awesome. Had to replace the struts once but was under warranty so there was no problem there. there is a lot of room in the back and front seats so you can fit 5 people easily even with the front seats all the way back. i would recommend the NISMo air intake adds about 15HP and you can really feel the difference. Even though this car looks like a best buy in terms of price (even the newer models), this car will rip you apart in maintenance cost. All parts are 3 times as expensive as other cars in the category. Annual maintenance is about $1200 up 60000 miles and there after just pray to god! Your maintenance cost may go even upto $3000 / year. I have a Honda Odyssey bought at the same time as that of Maxima, but in terms of maintenance Odyssey has no major maintenance needs. In all I would say Nissan NO GO!

Everything was great til 50k miles. I'm at 62k now and within the past year I had the transmission replaced twice (common jerking problem between 1st and 2nd gear), the AC works whenever it feels like it, window defroster takes forever to defrost, Cd changer keeps skipping, the telescopic steering wheel is wobbling. Recently my ABS started to come on everytime I press the brakes, and the ABS pump stays on constantly. From the reviews I've read it looks like another $2000 job to fix... oh, and did I mention I need new motormounts? Yeah, I was told that happens when they replace your transmission... All these issues and no recalls, only service bulletins...

I purchased my 2005 Nissan Maxima with 13 miles on it. It has a very sporty look to it however, I don't like the fact that when you get into it you have to be very careful not to bump your head as you enter the car because it sits low. When you pay good money for a car the chrome should not tarnish from washing the car. I experience a groan and/or moan sound when I make a left turn with the steering wheel and have no idea what that is. Of course everytime I take it in they say they do not hear it. I would not recommend a Nissan to anybody and I will never purchase a Nissan again. The sad part is that I owned an Nissan Exteria and it made the same groan noise when turning.

Bought car new in '05, SE model. 5 sp. Auto-completely loaded. 4 Yrs later now I have 50k miles. Right off the top I have to say the acceleration is very impressive-WOW! Starts strong off the line and keeps pulling & pulling & pulling. Great Torque, & little torque steer. A couple things though. I have the sun roof in it and it developed some squeaks after about 4 mos; took into the dealer 4X, they never could figure it out. They thought it was the headliner and installed a new one but still has the squeaks, I am certain its the sunroof. Finally gave up on that. Has 18" wheels, handles wonderful, All power equipment still working fine. Has developed a couple other squeaks-annoying.

After having 2 Lexus and a Toyota, I wanted a change. I bought a 2005 maxima from an older gentleman that never drove it. It is a fun and fast car to drive, but that is it. The rides stinks. It is the loudest car I have ever owned, the sunroof broke with in 3 months of owning it, a switch had to be replaced in the heater, and everything squeaks or rattles when you go over a bump. By far the worst turning radius of any car. It is like driving a tractor! This by far the worst quality of a vehicle I have ever owned. Not to mention the resale is horrible! Good luck getting rid of this car without at least 3-5k out of pocket. Junk!

Nissan should be ashamed of the quality of this car. My car has been at the Nissan Dealership over 50 times in the past two years. I had to have front rotors replaced, when car was under warranty. The car was only at 30,000 miles. Next,I keep hearing a front-end noise and Nissan couldn't figure out the problem at all. Then at 75,000, my transmission had to be replaced costing me around 4,500. Several months after that, my AC compressor is totally burned out. I have went broke over this car and addition to paying the monthly note. Nissan must recall this car very soon. There has been to many similar complaints on this car.

At 34,600 miles, my brake light and battery light began to blink intermittently. I took it to the Nissan dealer the next day and the service writer told me it was most likely a bad alternator. Four hours and $671.56 later the car was repaired. I did not buy the extended warranty so I paid for it in full. The next day I called Nissan's customer service line to see if there were any recalls or if there was any way they could at least give me a break on the price of the alternator ($345.00). Of course, there were no recalls, and no, they would not reimburse me for the replacement cost of the faulty alternator. Sorry, Nissan, I will not purchase or recommend a Nissan product again.

I recently passed the 100K mark on the odometer and the problems have begun :( Randomly driving one night it felt like I was not going to stop while braking, it turns out Nissan diagnosed the ABS actuator pump as "bad". $ 2200 to fix, I had just put brand new front and rear brakes, new tires x 4, and a new battery. I have taken very good care maintenance wise, and Nissan will not work with me at all. Disappointed with the car? No- I am however very displeased with Nissan and not being willing to help me despite the technical service bulletins on NUMEROUS 2005 Maxima ABS actuator pumps :( Also have have both fog lights and head lights replaced at least 3-4 times each light!!!

My 2005 Maxima is a lemon just like all other 2005 Maxima's. When your left speakers blow out(hit the side of the center console until they work again.) The transmission slips horribly. I have dealt with this for 2 years. I have finally found out what it is and no matter how bad, this should always fix it(there is a green module or sensor behind the throttle body. It is hidden towards the back against the firewall. Play with this, it should start to improve immediately do it everytime you turn the car on) I have been doing it for 2 weeks and am satisfied. Those of you who do not have maximas, DO NOT BUY NISSAN. The styling is nice but the problems are infinite. The car is only good for 1 year

I purchased my beautiful 05 maxima sl in early January and unfortunately got in an accident in the snow a month later and totaled it. The back end fishtailed going around a curve, I did a 360 and I hit the gaurdrail twice, once in the front and once in the back. Unfortunately, the car was totaled, but I was perfectly fine. The airbags didn't go off, I was able to drive the car for another week after the accident, but it would cost too much to fix. Car was amazing, roomy, had all features including a heated steering wheel! Fast too! I will purchase one again when I get my check from ins. Buy this car, just be careful in the snow. Very safe and tough. High quality.

Car looks great & handles well. Right away we had trouble with paint chipping on back door sill, dealer was no help even though other Maximas were better. 20000km chrome (plastic) on grille peeled but dealer replaced. 61000km the battery went, 81000km a rear well sensor went, ABS, slip & VDC not working. Replaced the sensor, 220km those features not working again. No problem getting it looked at, the problem is the bill that ALWAYS comes with it. Slight steering wheel vibration, other reviews scares me to thinking it could be bearings. Would I buy another? Not sure at this time, I like the looks of the 09, but am hesitant.

I purchased my 2005 Maxima SE (used) about 6 mths ago. Loved it at first, but over time I've noticed some neg things. Sharp exterior though the chrome on the front grille is starting to peel off. I've noticed this is a common problem in these cars. It has a lot of get up and go, but the steering is a little unstable with acceleration. Also, rattling noise with accel. Handles terribly in the snow! I expected more from this car. Interior is roomy and comfortable, but kinda cheap & confusing. Defaults to A/C when you change the mode. Also, gas mileage is not as good as I thought it'd be. Turning radius is awful! Parking is more difficult than a car this size should be. Not sure I'll buy another.

I've had this car for just under 3 years and have had all sorts of problems. First there was this weird "air leaking" noise around the front-passenger side. Second, The exhaust bracket started making noise right around 30,000 miles. By this time I had moved to Dallas and a dealership couldn't figure out what was wrong with it at first. I had to take it back to them like 5 times before they could figure out what was wrong with it. They fixed it and the problem came back within 6 months. Also, about this time, the cover under the sun-roof fell. Now, just around 60,000 miles the air condition stopped worked. I would not buy a Nissan again

I have had my Maxima for about 3 years now and I love it. This car performs, as well as offer great style. I take care of my car and I would expect it to last. Sadly it has me fed up with its annoying problems such as when I put the cd player on, the left side speakers don't work, the transmission jumps, the back of the car spins out easily, there is even an annoying flickering sound. Sometimes it reeks like rotten eggs, and the steering radius is horrible. I love my car, and I might not ever part with it. I will have to say that this car has really cost me an arm and a leg. This car has been to the dealership over 20 times since I purchased it in 2005. I had to replace several front end parts at 30,000 miles or less. Also, at 72, 000 miles I had to replace the transmission. Nissan was very awful at fixing their own products. This car has literally broke me in the past two years. My maxima is in the shop at this time getting a hub and strut assembly for the front right. I am very upset about purchasing this car. I have replaced almost every part on the car with the exception of an new engine. I will never purchase another Nissan.

Fun car, few complaints.

The Maxima is overall a great car. It has quick acceleration for a car of its size, and provides a nice ride. It has so many great features like memory and heated seats, satellite radio, and everything else needed to make a car feel like home. The exterior looks amazing, especially with my optional "amazing" package, with great looking bright chrome rims and grille. I have gotten so many compliments on an awesome looking car. The paint does chip easily though, and I have spent a lot on detail work. Inside, everything feels fairly nice, although some parts are a bit cheesy. The controls are overly-complicated, but manageable. The Bose stereo sounds good.

I test drove other mid-size cars in similar price ranges; Camry, Accord Ex, Mustang GT 4.0 and none accelerated like the Maxima. I do a lot of highway driving, and hate not being able to pull out and away from a bunch of slow pokes, who love riding each others bumpers.

I have owned numerous cars in the past from luxury to high performance. This car is the best car I have EVER owned. I have never, not once, had any mechanical failure or difficulty in regards to the engine. The only problems that I had were initially, when I bought the car, the right rear window mechanism broke 2 times in 2 weeks. It was replaced both times.

Awesome car, drives great, no problems so far. Gas mileage 23.5 city 28.0 hwy with regular fuel, premium fuel doesn't do anything that I notice the mileage and the power are the same, all you do is give the oil companies more money.

Bought it when it was 34K miles. Now it's 67K miles, no issues whatsoever! Pricey tires though, had to replace every year (but looks great). Some minor rattle coming from the center console. 20 mpg not sure whether its good or bad but somewhat high compared to my old 4 cyl Camry that was sold to get this one. Will buy M35 next after this one gets to be 100K.

So $31k and 15 trips to the dealership later, needless to say, def never buy a Nissan again. Cheap interior components, rotten egg smell, chipping paint & peeling grille, falling headliner, etc. etc. Too many probs, not enough cooperation from dealership; they never fix ANYTHING. A total disappointment. Ive spent more $ on rental cars than I spent on the warranty itself. It is fun to drive, but the issues Ive had outweigh the 265hp engine. The interior suede door panels are hard to keep clean & the mpg stinks. It is an extremely safe car (been in front end & rear crash). But, not worth the money or the dozens of trips to the dealership. Blah. HATE IT. Never make that mistake again!

One issue separates this car from the great review that it truly deserves - I'm talking about world class torque steer. When you jump on the gas, two things happen, exhilaration and the immediate need to latch on to the steering wheel. If you change the drive wheels to the rear pair, you'll have perfection.

I have had this for for 2 years now and still look forward to driving it. Acceleration: Off the line is decent but there is lots of torque steer to get used to. Highway acceleration is pure bliss. I mean wow. It's a great looking car as well. The interior is kind of cheap and the climate control isn't very good. It gets good highway mpg (30ish) but if you floor it around town, you will get about 220 miles to a 22 gal tank. The turning radius is horrendous and the headlights are not very good and I can barely tell the difference when I turn the brights on. I have a shimmy in the brakes when I am braking downhill that no mechanic seems to be able to reproduce. Would seriously consider rebuying.

I bought the car new in Feb. 2005. I only drive it between 6000 and 7000 miles per year, so to date it only has about 15,000 miles. But it has been a very good car so far. Compared to my last 2 Dodge Intrepids (94 & 99) it is a much faster, smoother riding car. I love the features such as the heated seats and heated steering wheel. I do think that some interior improvements are needed, especially with the dashboard and controls. I haven't checked out the newer models yet, so maybe they have addressed this. As stated before, there have been 2 recalls, but I had no problem with either issue, and had them both taken care of during one visit to the dealership.

Not bad... not bad at all.

Second Maxima for me and I have to say I am glad I went with another one. I am an outside sales rep and this car fits the bill perfectly, spacious, sporty, the right luxury features and Nissan reliability. My last Nissan I had (99 SE Ltd) had 176k on it when I traded it in for this car. If this one gets that same mileage I will be very happy. Ride is better then the old Max I had, turning radius is a lot larger though. Plenty of pick-up with respectable MPG. Any issues that I might have had with car I think were addressed with in the 07 Max (cheap and at first confusing controls, no aux input, cass deck? standard stability control). Great car... just buy it, you won't go wrong.

My first Maxima... and last. Impressed with the ride, very confident and comfortable. Good upscale features like xenon headlights, electronic console display. However, comes up short in several respects. Bose stereo is a rip off - sounds boomy. Paint is extremely cheap and if I look close enough there are areas where the primer can be seen. The dealer, of course, says these are paint chips which they are not. I am confident Nissan used the best paint the dollar store had to offer. The metal is thin and when closing the doors the car sounds like a big tub. Drive by wire throttle system needs improvement - there is notable lag. Overall, not a value. European rivals are a better buy.

I bought a used 05 Max SE in July, black on black with 20,000 miles. For the money I paid, this car has really impressed me. Mine is black with black leather and the 18" chrome wheel package; with aftermarket window tints it looks awesome. I've gotten tons of compliments on its exterior looks. My complaints with the car are the same as others'..wide turning radius, some cheaper-looking interior plastic, etc. However, the car has much more upside than downside. Awesome acceleration, good handling for a car its size, great sound system, and better than expected fuel economy. Overall, a solid option for those looking for a blend of performance, practicality, and style.

This is a great car with a couple of minor drawbacks. My one big hesitation was the wide turning circle, which I read about in Consumer Reports. I went from a much smaller car with a turning circle of 30 feet to this one, with 40. It makes U-turns a nerve-wracking experience, but fortunately, I don't have to make those turns often. I also think the climate controls would be better in analog (levers or dials) instead of digital, since there are so many buttons on the center console.

I bought an 05 SE in Jan and now 8 mon. later I'm looking to get rid of it. The build quality of this car is horrible. I'm getting a clucking noise in the front everytime I take off, stop or turn. Dealer says they can't duplicate it but I hear it all the time. Entire dash squeaks, rattles, & cracks everytime the weight of the car shifts. Dealer wants to charge me to fix this as "adjustments" aren't covered under warranty after 12,000 mi. There's a vibration in the tranny when I shift from reverse to drive that the dealer says is normal (yeah right). Rotors have warped 3 times within 16,000 mi. wheel shimmies at 60 mph. I'm in the process now of trading it in on an 07 Camry.

The car has little more than a year with over 19,000 miles on it and it has already been in the dealer 7 times. 3 of those times was because of a short circuit that burns the interior and taillight fuse. The other four because of the struts. Service is horrible and they have not found the problem of the short circuit. The car moves well but the turning radius is really bad. Thinking of dumping the car and look for a more reliable car like the new 2007 Toyota Camry.

Car has shimmy in front wheels, dealer says they can't fix it. A/C works intermittently, chrome is coming off all 4 wheels, rattles in front and rear of car. Every time I take it in for repair, dealer says no problem found. Car had a rattle underneath it, I found a nut missing off of the tailpipe hangar. Not the dealers problem, but had to replace the tires at 15k because of cracking in sidewalls. I added the Nismo cold air intake accessory to the vehicle and love the extra sound at 5500 rpm with a mild extra boost. The acceleration is prime and the style rivels the exotics in my opinion. I have always been an accord fan, but this car takes the blue ribbon. I would not want another car or could not think of another car to buy that compares to this. I'm not sure what consumer reports tested or JD Power for that matter. When Motortrend has got 5 Hyundais in the motortrend finalists, it makes me wonder if Hyundai owns shares in Motortrend. This car is the real deal and you wont be dissatisfied.

Having narrowed my search to the Maxima, Avalon, and Accord, I settled for the Maxima primarily because of ease of negotiating with the dealer. Now that I've driven the Maxima for the past four weeks, I have only one real complaint. A deafening pecking noise began under the dash below the steering wheel. Talked with the service dept and if you have a similar problem, turn on the defroster and it should stop. It turned out to be coming from the heat/cooling system. A part will have to be replaced that controls the doors within the unit. Had same problem with my 2004 Chev truck (but it wasn't as loud).

I am in my 20's and I do not feel as though I am driving a granny car, but rather a sophisticated and stylish one. Overall nice car. I had it for 6 months. Transmission is lazy in traffic. Don't step on it or your on board computer will show your MPG going as far down as 12MPG through out an average of normal and traffic driving. Most confortable ride ever. Make sure to opt for the driver preffered package. I didn't and I am sorry now. Stereo is great. Heated seats take a litle too long to warm up. Neat features that let you open the front windows from the remote (why not all 4, I can't understand...). Plenty of space for 5, comfortable with 4 on board. Traded a basic black 1995 Maxima for a red 2005. Few family sedans are fun to drive. The Maxima is fun, handles well, has tight steering and suspension, attractive. It's very fuel efficient when you're not tempted to take advantage of its great acceleration. Drivers who have a Maxima with manual transmission have a much more exciting, yet economical, car than those who drive an automatic. This is a car that must be driven with manual transmission to fully appreciate both its fun factor and its economy. Worth it to learn to drive a stick shift for this car.

I purchased my Maxima in June 2005. It is a nice car. The only thing that I don't care for is the gas mileage. Mine has a 20 gallon tank, and costs about $65.00 everytime I fill it up.

I've had my second SE almost a year now. I drive between 2500 to 3000 per month. As with the '03, the '05 is a fantasic car. It's comfortable, stylish, and fast. I can easily get 28 MPG doing 80 and got 32 MPG at 70. Look no further for a good car. The torque steer is noticable, but love the power when you step on the gas. You'll get used to it. Get the sun roof to really enjoy the car, it's worth the extra money.

The sunroof leaks in the car wash. After 3 attempts to have the problem fixed, I received a copy of the Nissan work instruction stating 'If water leaks occur only when using an automatic car wash or high pressure water spray, no repair is necessary'. All the positive aspects of the car are overshadowed by the leaking sunroof. Buyer Beware -- Nissan does not warranty the sunroof in a car wash and this information is not available to consumers prior to purchase. If you never use an automatic car wash, this is the car for you. Otherwise, buy a Toyota.

I purchased my vehicle in May 2005. Negotiated hard and got it off the lot at dealer invoice plus an aggressive trade-in value. I love the car. It has performance, comfort and good looks all at a price signficantly lower than cars with a higher brand name. My only complaint is that the door handles are hollow and feel cheap and the gas milage is a little less than advertised. But if you are looking for a comfortable car with most options standard and good performance and not worried about the brand name, the Nissan Maxima is for you.

Very sporty looking car. Get a lot of looks. Lot's of interior room. Easy to get baby into car seat in rear. Like the security of side curtain air bags. Fun to drive. Need to have lighted controls on wheel. Need to get a better tire on the car. Goodyear SRA's are terrible for reliability and wear. 18" design means costly replacement. Easy to pass with all the power. Wish the car would ride softer in bumpy roads.

I had traded in my '01' Quest for this first time beauty. I am floored by its performance and handling. At first glance it is easy to mistake it for a heavy luxury car. Drive it once and put that myth to bed. It is 'practical' for the family issue, yet 'youthful' for some solo time. I actually wake up earlier than normal, ready to shred some much driven road. Cannot say enough what an absolute blast this car is to drive.

Probably the best vehicle in the full size luxury class. We considered BMW 5 Series and Toyota Avalon, before deciding on the Maxima SL. It has been excellent riding, luxurious, gets good mileage (on regular, no less)! The extras are well thought out and well placed. Did not get Nav System or Power Moonroof, but love the Skyview roof. Average 23 mpg in combined city/hwy driving and almost 30 on hwy only. Only thing missing is the DRL system which would be a nice touch. Wife was even more enthusiastic that I about the styling. She was impressed with BMW, but cost too much. Said the Avalon was a 'hoo-hum' vanilla vehicle. "This is a real car!"

Sporty sedan with much nicer body design than Accord, Camry or Avalon. 265HP is more than average driver needs. Unfortunately you better keep both hands on the wheel when flooring the gas pedal - terrible torque steer. So used to my V8 T-Bird with RWD I almost crashed the car when accelerating while turning. Acura TL which I also considered for additional $1,500 didn’t have that problem and it had a lot nicer interior design. Too bad TL’s interior is even smaller than Altima’s. Front seats could be more comfortable (no upper back support). Driving 50% city – 50% hwy I only get 20mph not between 20 and 28 as stated on sticker. It costs me $50 to fill up the tank (recomended premium fuel :(

Best bang for the buck. I chose the SL over the Acura TL. The only things I gave up were better turning radius, blue tooth, and better cornering (I didn't get the vehicle stability system). However, low end torque is much better (watch the torque steer), and the amenities are much better as well. An example of this is the steering wheel audio control. Acura has the typical volume up/down, preset/track button. Nissan has a far more practical set-up w/ power on/off, mode (i.e. change btwn CD and the 18 presets), volume up/down and track up/down. Don't know why I need two subs, but the 320 watt Bose system rocks. Love auto-dim mirrors (three), ability to link seat/mirror set to keyfob.

The car is a very nice car and I love the power. Have taken the car on two long trips. One I was alone so it was fine the other was very cramped. Not made for traveling, or maybe i just travel with too much stuff. Has pretty much every feature available. However the car seems very thin and I sometimes feel unsafe. The car looks great though, I love the new body style! If you buy one, buy it with all the features you want, dont put aftermarket xm radio or subs in it or you will have trouble if you have radio problems. The dealerships like to blame problems on other people!!! They think you like to spend hours at the dealership for no reason at all. They can never find anything wrong

I previously owned a 2002 Max SE - had for 20K miles. Never had any problems. In comparison - this car seems to handle better - must be the independant 4 wheel suspension. This car seems to have less torque steer. This car seems to have more upper range passing power. This car has a much better base sound system (240 watt 8 speaker systems). The true fun nature of this car comes out when pushed hard. When i drive conservately, i tend to think this is a heavy/slow car but boy when i push the pedal down and turn sharply the true nature of the car comes out.

In my opinion you can not go wrong when you purchase from Nissan. The company is top notch and the customer service is superb. I drive a 2004 Maxima SL and I absolutely adore it. This is my 4th Maxima and I also drove a Pathfinder. The Pathfinder (2001) drove just about as smooth as the luxurious Maxima. I missed having a car, so I bought the Maxima the last time. You can't beat the value because the cars come standard with so many great features. The buying experience was good and I feel like I received a fair deal each time. First time buying a car of this size. Compared, Camry, Accord and was almost set for buying the accord. Walked into the NISSAN Dealership and was completely blown away by the MAXIMA. The trunk space beats both the others cars hands down. I actually took two big suitcases (airline-internationl travel), and they both fit with lots of room for small bags. Tall people actually have thigh support in the back seat. The car's fun to drive (read blast). Controls are good. Like the windows down feature from the key.. handy on hot days. Overall, a very good car. Smooth and quiet motor, handling excellent, fun to drive. Several minor issues start to add up, though. The light grey interior and titanium trim really reflect off the steep windshield, impairing visibility. The lumbar support is too high, and the seat is hard to get comfortable in. The $1,000 option Bose radio is not as good as the stock radio on my previous 97 Maxima. It has a "tuned EQ" for the car that can't be changed, but just sounds boomy. There is a lot of very noticable torque steer. Also, I'm not convinced there is any advantage to a 6 speed manual transmission over a 5 speed. You spend a lot of time shifting.

I actually bought my car in may of 2003, I have 44,000 mile on it. I love the way it drives, the handling is great and also the pick-up, you definitely have to watch your speed! I have had one little problem with my power sunroof, the dealer fixed with no big deal. No just last week my cd player quit working, I have an appointment next week, the dealer told me a new one cost $600.00, although they do not know yet if I will need a new one. A very comfortable ride. A very good value for the quality / caliber car ( if looking at BMW's, Acura, Lexus, or Infinite, but don't want to drop an extra $10+k, consider this car). This car is an SL. Got the non-nav, non sunroof, non-sat package. Only disappointment was my color combo was manufactured in early Nov '04, and did not come with traction control as standard. Had a couple of snow storms in New England in March, seemed ok with out, but the real test will be next winter. Kind of like the mpg also - if I hot dog, I average about 22 mpg, if I grand dad it, I get about 24.5 mpg (mixed hwgy / local driving).

Absolutely the best sedan you can get on the market for $30K. Love this car, and oh so fun to drive! Never owned a Nissan until now. Will buy one again. Understand too that they're now better cars since the French bought Nissan. Great backseat comfort & room. Lots of power, makes it a breeze to merge onto a freeway! You cannot lose with this car!

I have driven Cadillacs and Jags for the past fifteen years. I got tired of the high maintenance costs and decided to try a Japanese profuct. I settled on the Maxima. By far it is the best automobile I have ever owned. Not a single warrantee issue, where after three mnths I would have been to the Cadillac dealer several times to fix annoying rattles or mechanical problems.

Maxima is Maximus.

The first thing you will notice about the Maxima is that it is not just another mundane four door sedan. I needed a family hauler that was not a essentially a station wagon or SUV that was big enough for a family of four and still had excellent performance and reliability. I drive on the freeway and on city streets and the Maximas total package performance adds enjoyment and safety to all of my trips. In my experience most cars give you only one or two pieces of the package like horse power, but no handling, or performance but no reliabilty. I strongly recommend the maxima because it is the total package for those weary of driving plain vanilla sedans.

I bought this car in April '05 and have put around 2000 miles of mixed highway and residential driving. I am getting around 25 MPG combined which I am satisfied with. The V6 engine is responsive, acceleration is always there when you need it. 80 MPH at the end of a highway entrance ramp is way too easy to accomplish. The car is very roomy. I am 6'-1", 220 lb and I fit comfortably in the driver's seat and also in the backseat with plenty of leg room. The handling is great. The Maxima is rock solid and smooth on the highway, but it's great on curvy back roads too. We have gotten numerous compliments on the car from family, friends, and strangers. Great car!

The Maxima is one of the best 4 doors sedans ever. This is my second (97 Max) old. I love the new 2005 got a great deal fully loaded for 28k, missing navi. The car is very fast, has a great snarl with a touch of the pedal. I expected at least 20 miles per gallon but so far only giving me 18.8 on the avg. I just got it so im expecting it to improve just working in the engine. other than that i have been very happy with the car, so slick with the blk on blk, the leather feels like pleather but its all good. BUY IT if you looking for under 30K too many options to list. Its a Flagship so they put everything they got into it so you know its fine tuned.

I am currently driving my 6th Maxima and they just keep getting better! I’ve never had a single thing go wrong with any of the 6 cars. I’ve had my dark blue SE for over a year now and I still notice people turning and staring when I drive by. The car is powerful and solid and is still as much fun to drive as the day I drove it off the lot. I realize that there are other quality cars out there, but I’m sorry.... the Camry and Accord and just plain BORING. If anyone is the market for a “sporty” mid-sized, four-door car, make sure you test-drive the new Maxima! You’ll fall in love!

This is a terrific car. I look forward to getting behind the wheel! I bought the SL for the smooth ride, leather, opening moon roof and Bose stereo. The V-6 power is immense. I can't complain about a thing, this was a good purchase. It has a huge trunk and a lot of passenger space. It is more attractive than the Toyota Avalon. I am very happy with all of its features and at 106 degrees so far this summer, the air conditioning is perfect in Phoenix. I highly recommend the Maxima 3.5SL. I recommend the "Valentine One" radar detector if you plan on enjoying this car's power. I am going driving!

Like the styling because it is different and the engine is simply one of the very best. We love it and get great compliments on it everywhere we go. People get in and always say man this Nissan's are really nice cars aren't they? Paid 30,400 out the door with navigation and all of the gadgets. On, April 9, 2005 I purchased a New Nissan Maxium. On April 22, 2005 the nightmare begun and is still going on as we speak. A mouse chewed on the transmission harness and this has caused the transmission to blow. The car has been in the shop since April 22, with no end of the nightmare in site. Nissan claims they are not responsible for the flaw in the transmission that can destroyed by a critter. This is my first and it will be my last Nissan Product EVER!

Has anyone else had a problem with the seats. I love the car except the seat is so hard after 1/2 hour I am in excruciating pain and can't drive it at all. I've never had this experience before with a car. I test drove it but had no problem on the limited test drive that I took at two different dealerships. Back pillows haven't helped and the car is leased. Any suggestions to remedy problem would be appeciated - also just curious to know if I am alone in experiencing this problem.

Beautiful, powerful car. The inside of my SL is roomy. I live in a northern climate and have really enjoyed the heated steering wheel and heated leather seats. I am a music enthusiast and the 320 watt 8 speaker Bose system delivers awesome surround sound with no distortion. When you need to pass a slow driver on the highway, this thing responds PRONTO! (It's soooo easy to speed in this car; have to be careful.) So many cool luxurious touches; interior lights that fade on and off. A smooth, quiet, classy yet sporty sexy ride that performs and will impress your passengers. I encourage anyone looking at Honda Accord or Toyota Camry to at the very least test drive the Nissan Maxima.

I looked at alot of options from the 300, A6, Altima, and Acura. All had nice style and ride, but as price went up I didn't see much of an increase in luxary. My dealer gave me a flat out price of $29500 for the Maxima SL w/ Navi and all the perks. I feel like I'm riding in a really well styled car with great power and smooth handling. We got this can in Nov 2004. So far no sig. problems. We've had the steering wheel shake that everyone is complaining about, but it is tolerable. Performance is great. Should have a LSD or be AWD with as much power it has. If you shut off the TC, the car just smokes the tires! Lots-o-torque steer. Navigation is fun, but difficult to use. Sirius sat radio is alright, but we are used to an add on unit in the old car and this car's sat radio just does not compare to the features of the stand alone unit.

We've had our Maxima for approx. 1 month and wow! We looked at the Accord, TSX, Avalon, and the Infiniti G35. The Maxima is almost exactly like the G35 but for a few thousands less, the Accord was just too boring. The Maxima has exceeded all my expectations. The leather is top notch (black interior), the satellite radio is great, the engine power should be in a vehicle that costs thousands more, etc.

I actually paid cash for a brand new 2002 Mercedes CLK 320. That was a very big mistake. I never liked the car and felt that I wasted all that money!! I finally got rid of the M.B. and purchashed a 2004 Maxima and absolutly love it !! I find it so comfortable and easy to handle. I've heard people complain about the wide turning, but I don't find that any big deal. I love the look of my car reliability too! If I were to change anything, I would make the instrument panel easier to read. I find myself squinting to read the print. I think my husband's next SUV might be a Nissan too !!!

Don't know where to start. Always liked the Max, bought my first one in 86 (yes, the one with the talking voice) and have liked them ever since. Bought the wife one on Saturday and drove it all weekend. Woke up Monday morning and had to drive my Sebring Convertible to work (different, but not a Max). Woke up on Tuesday morning and decided I had to have one of my own. Tuesday afternoon bought mine. Twins, DPP, sunroof, only mine has the VDC package. Her's, Coral Sand, mine Liquid Silver. In my mind best car for the money I've ever seen. Traded a 2000 Accord EXL v6 on my wife's car. Don't care what they say, liked the Accord for 5 years, but this Max puts the new Accord to shame.

It is smokie gray color with light gray interior and when its in the sun it takes on a completely different color. Hats off to Nissan for this one. Look out Lexus, BMW, Acura and Volvo. Nissan has hit the market with a true winner. Would recommend this car to anyone who wants to buy one. Just take a test drive, it sells itself.

In considering many different vehicles for this purchase I couldn't neglect the reliability of my past Nissans. The 2005 axima did not take long to be moved to the top of the list with it's unique, noncomformist styling and the performance it offered. Togehter with the reliability that I have found with Nissan products, this car was not a dissappointment. It has been everything one would expect in a sedan of this quality that is targeted for those looking for more than a family sedan. It's performance and handling are excellent.

My 2005 Maxima SL is one sweet ride. Having just turned 40, and much desiring to dump the mini-van and associated stereotypes, I was thrilled to find a sedan that is roomy, with deluxe accomodations and that has plenty of "giddyup". From the premium Bose sound system to the heated steering wheel to the power moon roof to the programmable heated leather seats, this car is everything I'd been searching for. It drives like a dream- -takes off like a shot when you need or want it to and behaves well otherwise. I did my homework and compared and test drove other sedans in this price range before buying and the Nissan rode more quietly and offered better options. I love this car!!!

I've had SUVs, sports cars, sedans, coupes, and my Maxima is the best combination of all of my favorite things in each style of vehicle I've owned. It has the heavy-feeling ride of the SUV, the handling of the sports car (alot of ZIP!), the interior comfort of a sedan, and the cool feel of a coupe. If I had to replace my car tomorrow, I would go buy one just like I have. My brother has a Mercedes (big whoop) and I like my car tremendously better than his. For $33K, I couldn't ask for anything that meets my needs any better. Besides, it looks awesome on the road!

I could not keep my eyes off her. After I test drove the Altima, I asked the salesperson if I could test drive the Max. As soon as I put the car into gear I was sold. I could not believe that the way it drove out performed it's looks. The car is just AWESOME. It is so fun to drive. It's a beautiful vehicle, that's really in its own class. The higher up Accords and Camrys can't compete with its style and performance and the BMW 3 series and Acura TL's can't compete with it's price. After having this car for almost a week now, I'm positive I made the right decision.

I have a 2005 Red SE Max w/ Driver Preferred Package. At the push of a button my steering wheel and leather seat heats up. I added a remote starter so the leather seats are heated when I enter the car. It has been fun getting into the car this winter. I had no problems pulling out of the snow. I just turn on the radio and cruise. My daughter loves the RDS. It shows the name of the artist and the song the radio station is playing. Eight way power seats with memory allows me to preset seat position. The seats and steering wheel actually automatically adjust to let me out when I turn the car off. Once I open the door to get in the steering wheel and seat adjust to let me back in. Extraorinary!

Very Sporty car. Good Horse-power. Good torque. The rear window provides a restricted view but is otherwise fine. The unacceptable feature is that there is about a 1 second delay from accelerator release before engine starts to slow down. This requires rapid wear of clutch or shifting like a grandma. Nissan dealerships could not change this feature.

I have been purchasing a new car every three years with most being "upscale" sedans. My most recent car was a Volvo S-80 T-6 and this Maxima surpasses it in every category and costs $10,000 less. The normally aspirated Maxima is just as fast as the Volvo turbo. The looks are great and it has provided trouble free performance. Most of all, I love driving it. The only negative I can think of is that the turning ratio is is a bit too wide.

After 8 months of driving this car i have to say i don`t like it as much as i did when i first bought it,to many annoying things for example the wipers are terrible in the winter, the cd player died in week one, there are annoying squeaks and rattles from the dash area something you shouldn`t have in a car of this caliber. To much wind noise at highway speed i am constantly checking to see if a door is open.I like to drive with my front window open a crack not with this car though the water will pour in. There is also a terrible vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds my dealer eventually got this fixed. The Honda Accord is a much better car and less money to bad it is so Blah.

I purchased the Maxima a month ago, after owining a Dodge Intrepid ES. Althought the Max is a smaller car, it still has adequate interior room and trunk space. I think it is almost the perfect combnation of sportiness and luxury, and compares favorably with cars costing much more.

I am Nissan Maxima man, but the 2005 Maxima has let me down. The design is great, but the front wheel shakes like crazy once you reach about 50-60 mph. I don't believe that Nissan has done a good job with this one.

Each year Nissan builds a better Maxima. Maxima is an all around driving experience. It performs better than any other car in it's class. Nissan builds quality into every driving component of the Maxima. It looks great,it is comfortable and reliable. The best car for the money under $30,000. This is my fourth Maxima and I will continue to buy this car.

My Maxima started having major electrical problems at 5500 miles. The seat and steering wheel move on their own when using the unlock button on the remote control on a random basis when the remote is assigned to one of the memory positions. Nissan claims that this is normal since 3 brand new Maximas on the dealership's lot do this too. The exterior mirrors move out of position on their own while the vehicle is in operation and occassionally when the remote is used. This vehicle is in violation of my state's lemon law, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and US Commercial Code, legal action is currently being taken against Nissan.

This is the best riding car I have ever owned. It is actually a joy to get in and take for a long drive on the highway. There is almost no wind noise which many of the competition can not say (atleast every one I test drove). I have owned 4 Maxima's over the years and this it the best one by far. I test drove several other cars but for the money, performance, and comfort the Maxima won hands down. I would have bought the 350Z but need a backseat for the kids.

I bought the '05 having owned a '92 which was given to me, then passed to my cousin, and still performs well under my sisters ownership. The 2005 has classic maxima torque and acceleration. The maxima will accelerate as fast as you can put your foot down on the pedal. It corners and responds well. The exterior design turns heads. There is limited visibility out the back window and the controls on the steering wheel should have been illuminated for night driving. Otherwise i'm very happy with it. It's the most fun car to drive that i've had yet.

Fast and easy to manuever! I feel very safe- it's solid and has the front and window airbags. The controls, especially the steering wheel radio and cruise controls are very convienient and easy to use. I use my seat warmer every morning after work & I live in FL - I swear it helps my back. I did get rear-ended: the car did fine but I had cracked paint on my rear bumper. They had to replace my whole bumper. The pearl white was a difficult color to match. A specialist had to come help the body shop match it. It took longer, but they did a good job.

This is a really fun car to drive. The power that is available when wanted/needed is exhilarating; the responsiveness is incredible. The exterior has a speedy "swept back" look; the cockpit is futuristic and the interior is very roomy. Nice touches like heated seats and steering wheel, auto dimming mirrors inside and out, accessible 12v outlets, etc, add to the enjoyment. The only drawback with the car is that it is front wheel drive. With the HP available, when one really steps on the gas there is a noticable "torque steer" that is very disconcerting at times. Some may not like the audio and HVAC controls in the center stack as the buttons are numerous and small but they'll grow on you.

I have owned this car for over a year so I feel qualified for an evaluation of this vehicle. The overall performance i.e., steering, breaking, acceleration is remarkable however, the overall quality of the interior plastics is cheap. I have had the rear deck repaired to stop the vibration noise of the some components of the stereo system (it took 6 months for the dealer to repair) and the columns between the front and rear doors as well to the rear deck have been repaired or replaced. The gage that sensors the amount of mileage the cars has until empty is useless because it stops working when the tanks has less than 2 gallons.

Great quality for the money. This car has so many bells and whitles that tech lovers such as I should keep themselves occupies. Lots of little, thoughtful touches from stereo controls to design details and customization abilities makes this a well thought out car. Although thirsty for gas, the rocket ability of this car makes it worth the cost. Feels like it could take off if it had wings. At high speeds though I could sence some instability in the rear (in the SL) especially when changing lanes but we shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. I bought this at the beginning of winter so I can't wait to roll down the windows and open the sunroof this summer. So far I love it!

I purchased my vehicle in 4/2004 and I must say, I was quite happy with the performance of the vehicle. In terms of driveability,The car handles corners very well, overtaking was never a problem performance I would say was superb But I had a few problems with my vehicle and the list are as follows. At around 300 miles I encountered my first problem with my right front strut. It began leaking fluid. The front rotors was warp. The strut was replaced and the rotor resurfaced. At around 4500 miles I noticed waterleaking into the terior from the sun roof. The front driver's doors and passenger's would touch if the drivers's door opened simultaneously with the passenger door.

I think it is a beautiful color and it rides very smoothly. I get many compliments on it wherever I go. My first was a 1989 which I still have and have no intention of geting rid of. It has 180,000 miles and runs as good as it did the day I purchased it. The Maxima is one of the hottest cars on the road.Although critics say that you pay a premium price w/o a premium name plate, who cares about a name plate.Part of my attraction to the car is that not many 3.5 SE are on the road. I would take this car over a 3 series BMW any day of the week. The Maxima is one of the best "values" currently on the market. The only other car I would choose over the Maxima would be the Acura TL, but at $10,000 more, there is hardly any comparison in price to value. The reliability is unbelievable.I would challenge any car, BMW, Benz, Lexus included to a durability and relibility test.If you want nameplate get a BMW or Benz, want value buy a Maxima!

Absolutely the best Maxima Nissan has built! I have owned 10 Nissan/Datsuns, this being the 4th Max and I love it. It's got luxury, sport, speed, handling and style. I could afford the higher end nameplates (I looked at a Jag S- type & E-class Benz), but choose to stick with the Maxima. Not only did I save a little money, but in my opinion, got a better car. I will continue to buy Nissan (maybe Infiniti, too) for many years. I recommend Nissan to anyone who is in the market for a new or used vehicle.

This is my third Nissan and my first Maxima. My previous car was a '96 Altima and I decided it was time to upgrade. I really like the Maxima! It's a pleasure to drive and quite luxurious for the price. A lot of pick- up and an amazingly quiet drive. I looked at the Acura TL and that was slightly more luxurious, but not worth the extra $3,000 they wanted. I was also very pleased with the dealer (Nissan City in Port Chester NY); no b.s. and very little sales smarminess.

The 2005 Maxima is my third, and it's the best of the three so far (1998 GXE, 2001 SE 20th Ann, 2005 SE 5A). The good: Roomy, comfortable, quick off the line, decent gas mileage, awesome sound system, don't need to take a headroom-eliminating sunroof, very quiet ride. The bad: it's slippy in the snow - snow tires seem to be required and that means great expense, back seat not great for tall friends due to roof slope.

The owner's manual is most helpful in detailing what needs to be done regarding services. Following the manufacturer's recommendations, this car will last forever. I highly recommend the Maxima if you want luxury and sensibility combined!

The other day on my way home i was listening to music not realy paying attention. i started to notice the cars around me going realy slow; curiously i started looking around until i noticed that everybody was not going slow, I was going 115MPH. 115MPH in a full size sedan...hints the name of the reveiw. This car also has the best excelleration i have ever seen. My son drives a 1996 honda delsol turbo which he has fixed up for racing, he passed me on the way home one day and just for fun, i tried to catch up. Needless to say, I passed him like he was stil

I traded my Acura in for this new Maxima.I ordered it with the elite package,(burnt orange leater). This car turns heads... Everything about this car is tight. Interior is about as plush as it gets. Acura/Honda better get back to the drawing board. This car is so much smoother than my Acura. The engine is quiet and powerful. The controls are easy to understand. The interior is very roomy. I hope I can get the same years of service with this Nissan as I did with the Acura, (8years). That will be the true test.

Forget the Lexus,Acura, Avalon, this car blows their doors off! Not only is the car less expensive than the overpriced above models it out performs in all areas including looks & dependibilty. Also a very high resale value, pound for pound the best car on the road! Reminds me of my dad's old Buick , built like a tank & fast as hell! Great on gas too!

Being my first time as with a Nissan, I have been brand loyal to Toyota for over 15 yrs. But comparing what the 04 Maxima had to offer over the Camry at what I consider equal build quality, it was no comparison. The six speed transmission mated with the smooth 265HP V6 is just a example of how Nissan is listening to the market. Horsepower wars are back with all brands and Nissan has shown they are not going to be left behind.

The spacious interior, good looks, horsepower attracted me to this car. After 60 days it still wows me! I had a little buyers remorse having not chosen an Acura Tl... so i went back to take a second look at the TL last week. Glad I got the Maxima.

After driving a 1997 GLE (bought new in '96) for the last 101600 miles I decided it was time for a new Maxima. No other car can match the features coupled with the reliability of these cars. I originally wanted to stay with the luxury edition SL, but the 18" tires on the SE were too much of a draw to ignore. To compromise I upgraded the SE to SL form, including the navigation system.

This is our 5th Maxima. Seems like it's the first build in the USA. Every one of our Maxima's was wonderful. The jury is out on this one. We have a vibration when the car exceeds 60MPH. The car has been fixed twice and the dealer says that we're only feeling the road. Has anyone else experienced this? Being 6'4'' the seat is a liitle too small for me but my wife is the main driver and she is comfortable. Otherwise we do like the car.

I considered the Audi A4, Volvo S60,Acura Tl and chose the Nissan Maxima SL (all '04's ). While the Audi perhaps had the best interior material quality of this group I chose the Maxima SL for its large interior compared to the others. Performance with the TL was essentially the same and cost was within $ 700. comparably equipped.I also liked the styling whereas the TL seemed a bit too' boy racer' and was similar in looks to its smaller brethern. The SL Maxima also uses regular gas and has more torque than the TL. (must be because its higher compression ratio).

Shopped in the mid-size sedan market for about two years. Bought the Maxima and couldn't be happier with the car. It is as advertised and then some. A stylish car with a fantastic ride and lots of power from the 265 horse v-6. You cannot go wrong with this car.

great acceleration, sweet 6cyl comfortable roomy enough great milage styling looks like a roach but not bad second maxima had 2002 had 2 recals on it.but thrilling to drive.265 hp engine I think better built that a honda, with a 6, acura is more , and i think hondas quality has gone down in recent years.

I LOVE MY MAX..THIS IS MY THIRD ONE SO I FEEL I CAN SPEAK ON THE MAXIMA. I LOVE THE HORSE POWER AND THE BIG 18" WHEELS. I FEEL LIKE I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT ON THE ROAD AND MY MAX WILL TAKE CARE OF ME. I THINK THE DESIGN TEAM DID A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH THIS ONE. I ALSO FEEL THAT IT'S COMPARABLE WITH THE INFINITI'S G-35 SEDAN AND BIGGER. TRUELY A HEAD TURNER AND FUN TO DRIVE. I LOVE THIS CAR. A TRUE MAXIMA OWNER FROM THE PAST WILL APPRECIATE WHAT NISSAN HAS DONE FOR THE 2004 MODEL AND IM SURE OTHER BUYERS WHO NEVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF OWNING A MAX WILL AS WELL. I THINK NISSAN HAS THE BEST LOOKING CARS ON THE ROAD RIGHT NOW AND THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE ANY OTHER MAKE AND MODELS. MAXIMA IS KING.

The car is sexy and fun to drive.I had a Altima before for about 10yr. Needless to say i was a lot younger and crazier. I figured if after 180,000 mil the car was still kicking strong with all those doughnuts and corner to corner races, i'd stick with Nissan. I'm a lot older and wiser now so no more doughnuts. I like the acceleration on the car , the second glances one get's from people when passing by or just standing still. The alloy wheels and tires holds well when corning. Over all i feel good about the car for the money i spent. However if when i'm ready for another car if certain things aren't changed i think i'd go to toyota (lexus)

as a single father with a child i was looking for a car that would perform enough to satisfy me, yet still have room for a 5 year old and big dog! The 05 maxima answered my prayer. I opted for the SL rather than an SE based onm the simple fact i fell in love with the red color of the one on the lot. It drives as well as my 7 year old supra,is surprising fast when pushed. and still manages to bring a smile to my face when showing it off or pullin gup to a gas pump. the car corners rather well for a large front wheel drive. and has a silky smooth highway ride. only thing, I wish niossan would have put better tires on it.

My wife has had a 2000 maxima SEL...had it for 4 and half years..milage was just a tad over 38000..She has been wanting a gold color Avalon. To me the Avalon is a nice car with good history..but dull..dull..dull...and I talked her into getting another maxima, with the color she wanted and at a better price than the dull avalon...i like it..she will learn to like it...Its a lot more car for the money, and lots more fun to drive..now..lets just hope my wife is as convinced as I am...thank you...ron oliver
