Bought this car used 14 months ago. In the time that I've owned it had to replace timing belt, crankshaft bolt, front wheel bearings fuel pump and now need to replace the motor. This car has been nothing but trouble. Stay away from used ones.

Loved it at first...

I have had this SUV for 11 years. I have constantly changed rear bulbs, A/C went out at 70,000 miles, rear end went out after 1 year. Radio and CD player has never worked correctly, interior plastic items break often, eats batteries and just stops running out of no where or will not start. Dealer says no problem found. I am finally moving on to a Honda.

10+ years and still a great SUV

I bought my Sorento LX 4x4 new in January 2006 (2005 model year) and it has been a very dependable vehicle and I have enjoyed owning it. It has only been back to the dealer one time for minor repairs, brakes and new belts in 10 years. Very reliable and I love the truck design platform with real four wheel drive. It will easily crawl up any mountain jeep trail in 4x4 (low setting). It has good towing capacity. I may have been lucky that I did not end up with one of the Sorentos that mechanical or electrical issues, based on the problems in other reviews. When it is in standard 2wd the rear wheel drive can loose traction easily on icy roads, but it plows through everything with secure traction in 4 wheel drive (high setting). The only other repairs that I have done are the exhaust flex pipes were replaced when holes developed, replaced the tires and regular oil changes. Gas mileage varies considerably based on driving. I typically get 9-14 mpg driving in my hilly city, but on the highway it gets 18-22 mpg depending on speed. I just did 700+ miles of mostly freeway driving at 70 mph in the winter 32 degrees on day and 0 degrees a few days later and still got 21-22 mpg both times. On slower 55 mph highways I have gotten 24 mpg when fully loaded down with a weeks worth of camping gear and an 18 foot canoe on the roof. I'm happy I bought it and still enjoy driving it, the seats are very comfortable, the interior is nicely designed, I still take it on road trips and down remote logging roads. I don't put a lot of miles on it because I live in a smaller city and don't do my daily commute to work in it. I happily get to walk to work all year for my commute! In town it is primarily used for hauling supplies to work. Glad I bought my Sorento LX :)

Still Runs like a champ after 10 years!!

Me and my family have owned this car firsthand since 2005 and it has been such a fun, exciting reliable car since the day we bought it! Ok so firstly Id like to say obviously if you bought the car second hand you cant really blame the car for poor performance issues or problems. Each car has its own history and of course with good care will last a long time. That being said I can start my review... ok where to begin... alright well performance wise the car has alot more power than expected. The 3.5 V6 has about 195 HP which is really great and the engine combined with the transmission has always been very responsive and seems to never dissapoint. As far as comfort I personally am content with the vehicle. I mean its not comparable to a plush couch but its not uncomfortable either. The quality of the vehicle is decent, Kia is known for using cheaper parts but its nothing too degrading. When you enter the car its what you can expect from an average car. Now hands down this is the toughest car Iv ever owned. Iv only been in 2 accidents, one of them I was rear ended at a red light and it was an extremly hard hit. Other than damage to the bumper and tail gate towards the back of the car thats all that really happened, and I was personally ok other than a small ammount of whiplash due to my position at the time of Impact. The car has never left me stranded anywhere and I havnt had to replace anything too major other than thing that with wear and tear need fixing. Probably the biggist repair has been changing the timing belt just because you literally have to take off every accessory on the engine and its very time consuming and a bit of a pain. Our sorento now has a little over 160,000 miles and still runs like a champ, a can floor it anytime, make hard stops frequently, and steer abruptly anytime I feel like it without having to worry about damage or wear. And I can confirm I have driven the heck out of that car, I meanIv put extreme wear in it and she still runs great. So aside if all the great things the sorento has to offer, some down falls are... the paint on the hood, roof and other small areas has faded completley. Iv noticed my sorento isnt the only one that has a faded hood though and sort of in the same shape. I actually think it might be due to the heat of the engine over time... then again its a decade old so you can expect that. Another downfall is bad gas mileage. Its rated I believe at 16 MPG or so but when you drive it hard like I do go ahead and bump that number down to 14 mpg. And lastly, I wish the cars hood didnt slope down so much, it makes it look more like a van than a SUV. Although the 2009 Sorentos hood did improve concerning that... So yea anyways the cars not a clunker, Kia did a very good job with their 05 Sorento and obviously it does has flaws just like every other car but take it from me It still holds the champ title in my eyes, and I still pride the car to this day. So many valuble memories have been made with it, and I comend Kia on it. I just wish the 2016 Kia looked different and I also wish they hadnt strayed from the true SUV body style. The 2016 personally looks like a mini van and it doesnt have the same off road capability or ruggedness as my 05 does.

I bought my Kia used. So of course the 100,000 mile warranty was not valid. I have poured so much money into this vehicle over the 3 years I've owned it. I maintain it properly, oil changes, new tires, etc. Well, I just found out the entire rear axle and differential completely rusted/rotted away to nothing. The only thing holding up the car was a shock! I truly believe this car was made poorly with cheap metal. Kia will not help me or stand behind the cars they build. When replacing the rear axle the mechanic found a part that was manufactured wrong in the factory and put on backwards. Again, KIA stands behind nothing! I could have purchased a rental car with all of the times I've had one.

I bought my Sorento used in '06 with 12,000 miles on it. Now have 89K. Love the fact that it is a true 4x4! The rear end is just like a truck, unlike most newer SUVs (including the '12 Sorento!) Never had issues with lights but brakes are below par as is the sheet metal (thin), fuel economy is not great either. Paint, A/C engine, & tranny all are top notch. Very reliable & would buy another '05 or '06.

With all the light bulbs going out at different times of the week and A/C stop working after the first year and no body knows why.... Heater never gets hot enough in cold winter weather here in Canada, I have to wear extra clothes to keep warm. Battery always needs a boost. Paint chips off. Do yourself a favor and DON'T BUY A KIA!!!!! You're better off walking, mine leaves me stranded.....

Bought new in 05. Engine light came on when I got home from the dealer. Sensor out. Head lights go out about every 4 months. The back windshield wiper blade runs for about 5 minutes every time you start the car. I had the car checked out. They said I have 3 electrical problems. The air conditioner went out 2 years ago.

I owned this for three years, bought new, as a work vehicle. This has to be the the heaviest build small suv I have ever driven. Although there were numerous trips to the shop under warranty all was taken care of efficiently with little fuss. The gas mileage is abysmal, at 15 city and 20 highway, but built like a tank. I was rear ended at 50,000 miles and all I had was a cracked bumper cover! The honda that hit me was totalled. The car never let me down, and honestly I have been considering buying a used one as a second vehicle for my wife.

I purchased used in Dec '10 w/ 50,000 miles. 2 months and 5,000 miles later, not a single problem and absolutely a pleasure to drive! I upgraded from an '00 Sportage, so I'm LOVING all the extra space, extra comfort and extra POWER from the Sorento. Seats are unquestionably the most comfortable i've ever sat in, power is MORE than enough than i'll probably ever need, and there's a ton of space, both for passengers and cargo. I park next to plenty of the newer mid-sizers at work (Highlanders, Pilots, XC90s, etc.) and it looks just as stylish. Mine is white with the beige interior and gold cladding - VERY NICE! Steering is light and easy to handle. Super comfy ride to work and school everyday.

I bought my Kia used in 2007. I had never even driven a Kia before this one and was a little uneasy about buying one. Turns out its one of the best cars I have ever owned. Perfect size for the family(wife and two kids). With good storage in the back and a decent roof rack. Love that it has full size tires and not the barbie doll ones like on the Sportage. Okay the wife is out of the room now, let me tell you what I really think! This car is beast! I live in Colorado where it can snow pretty good and when you put this thing in 4x4 and mash the pedal it can take you places. I'm talking 4 ft tall drifts sometimes 20 ft across and this KIA got me across them. I have proof the car can take a beating.

We bought a brand new 2005 Sorento and loved it. Within the first year, the brakes and rooters were replaced. The dealership replaced them 4 times, at our expense, then we took it to another mechanic and since then they have been fine. The motor has been replaced twice and is now at the dealership again after it just died in the middle of the road, and my husband and I had to push it off the road. We've replaced every light in the car numerous times, at least 3-4 times a year. It's been in for oil leaks at least 3 times. The paint started chipping within the first year. I'll never ever buy another Kia.

Great reliable vehicle. It's my second Sorento and third kia so far. I drive many miles to work so I first bought a Kia because of the low price, now I buy because of the quality. So far I've had no mechanical failures, but my shocks and struts are getting weaker. Of the two Sorentos I've owned, the first one did have the issue with head lights going before their time. This one has been OK so far though in regards to that problem. My first Sorento was bought used as well and was a 2004 EX v6 model. It was also very reliable but got totaled in an accident so I had to buy my 05 to replace it. By the way the car held up well in the crash and was still drivable afterward.

We purchased our Sorento new and have since put 110,000+ miles on it. It has held up well. Overall it has been very reliable and a good car to drive. We chose it based primarily on its styling as at the time it did not look like other SUVs. It still stands out in a sea of sameness. Fuel economy is not great but I consistently average 20 mpg per fill up. I have experience some of the electrical gremlins shared by others including multiple head light changes. I had to replace a diode to get the interior light to go on in the "Door" position. The A/C died recently.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a horrible experience with my KIA. I've replaced batteries, head lights, tail lights, etc, etc. I keep telling them that four batteries in 5 years is not normal, same with all the lights going out - there has to be a major problem with the electrical system but they say no everything is fine. My warranty expired in August so I am looking to dumb this thing fast. DO NOT BUY A KIA.

Run; do not walk away from this car. Where to start? Service department are few, far between and unreliable. I now own stock in GE Lamp division for all the lamps I have had to replace. The electrical system, as far as the "Horns and Whistles" are concerned, keep screwing up. Warning bell goes off for no reason when the car is off and you open the door. Door locks decide when they are going to work. Do not get me started on the mpg, my old van did better.

I had a 2-door Honda Accord before this so I was not prepared for the cost of gas to fill this tank. It is a drain on my wallet and I'm looking to sell and go back to a car. It's a good looking car, pretty fun to drive (except for eying the fuel tank gauge). Very good in the snow, I'll miss the reliability of driving up a hill in snow and not worrying about getting stuck. Bought it w/ 32k miles, I've put 12k on it, still under warranty, had a couple check engine lights that turned out to be the gas tank O2 sensors. rear light bulb went out, fixed it myself for $2. If I was an SUV driver and didn't care about gas mileage, I'd keep the Sorento, but I'm not so it has to go.

I purchased new in 2005. Overall, I'm satisfied with this vehicle. Two things of disappointment: Fuel milage and the Crankcase Mnemonic Balancer bolt broke at 104000 Km. Imagine! It was fabricated out of a cheap aluminum by-product. It cost us $1200.00 to replace! Not happy, at all, about that. Would I buy another one? Yes, because of the dealership's unmatched customer service and the price point.

I got my kia sorento just this November. It had 70,000 miles on it but with good history. It was well maintained. I drove it from Indiana to upstate NY. With all 6 luggage I can't say anything bad against this car. Now am testing it on snow so far so good. What I have to agree on kia said they will void my warranty because, I'm the second owner. What a reason! 100,000 miles of warranty is still 100,000 miles of warranty.

I've owned my Sorento for 5 years and have had not one single mechanical problem with the car. (My dome light burns out frequently, but at $20 to repair, I don't consider that a "problem"). It has the pick-up to do highway speeds (and more), even when fully loaded. It's got the cargo space more like the larger Highlander than the smaller RAV4, although it's priced lower than either Toyota. We take my car on road trips and while the gas mileage isn't fantastic, the car is comfortable and has a nice ride.

This vehicle has had more issues than I know what to do with. Mostly electrical problems. It has been to the dealer for A/C issues 3 times. Eventually having the entire dashboard ripped out and a new harness put in. I have to buy headlights and taillights all the time. So bad that I keep a spare set in the car at all times. It experiences loss of power all the time and the transmission does not engage when in reverse sometimes. The car has had all maintenance done on or before its due. Factory radio also died right after buying it. Service departments are are the worst. Above all the resale value is absolutely horrible. If you buy one, enjoy it b/c you will be stuck with it. Absolute garbage

I stopped counting the number of headlight & taillights I've replaced. I've had several warranty repairs and each one was a LONG wait for parts to come in from overseas. One dealership I took it to did every thing but roll out the red carpet. Unfortunately, the one I purchased it from, which is 50 miles closer to me, has not been so accommodating. For the money, I have no regrets. But I will stay away from Kia in the future due to the servicing of their warranty.

I have over $6000 dollars in maintenance and service in my car. This does not include my rental car expenses because of the numerous times my car has been in the shop. I have replaced headlights, brake lights, parking lights, dome lights, fog lights and interior lights repetitively. I have replaced the timing belt, various ac parts, brakes, power seat motor, power locks, radio, battery, and car alarm parts. This is an attractive SUV with wonderful bells and whistles. It is an irresponsible and pathetic product. The 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty is useless and misleading. They do not stand by their product and it has awful resale value. Do not buy this vehicle regardless of the price!

Finally fixed, but had paint overspray all over vehicle. Passenger air bag didn't work. Kia service told me to sit with legs tightly squeezed and it would work! Finally agreed to fix it. Sent seat out for repair. Scratched door jams really bad and gave me touch up paint to fix a new vehicle myself! Too many headlight changes to mention. Dome light motor replaced, electric seat motor replaced. Paint very, very thin and dents easily. Dealing with below surface rust on the tailgate now. I've had my Sorento for 4 years and I had to replace the low beams, high beams, tail lights, etc, about 2-3 times per light every year. So far this year (this is March), I've replaced the low beams twice in the driver and once on the passenger side. I just replaced the driver side yesterday and the tail light is now out. The battery has been replaced 3 times since I've had it, at 70% of the cost. Does anyone else have these problems? The dealer says there is nothing wrong.

Next I get news from dealer main computer board needs replacement ($900), Kia refuses to accept any responsibility. These problems in now way could be caused by our use. Kia customer service the absolute worse.

I have had this kia for 3 and 1/2 years I am on the second battery and I have replaced many headlights tail lights brake lights and even a bulb on the inside dash. I just put it in for the 4th recall and also asked them to check the battery because it is all corroded they are now telling me that I need a new battery again which kia will pay 70% I am responsible for the other 30% they also say that I need a new cable end and wiring harness. which is not covered under the warranty. there is something going on that is doing damage to the lights and batteries 2 batteries in 3 and 1/2 and numerous light bulb replacement. the first battery was replaced @ 27,000 I am now at 55,000.

Very disappointing! The gas mileage is 10 to 11 on avg. Only the few long distance trips where we run in to zero traffic do we see an increase in MPG and then it's dramatic. Like 15 MPG. My purse scratches the paint. Everything scratches the extremely thin paint. The plastic trashcan put a dent in the body. All 4 doors have small dents due to other car doors touching them. They seem to be rounded in a way or at a height that most other cars seem to hit when parked next to it. back windshield burst the 1st time the rear defroster used which was within the 1st 4 mos of ownership. Kia Corp or the dealership would NOT cover it! Paid WAY too much for this inferior vehicle.

I've had very little problems with my Kia, minor things at first which were fixed under warranty. My complaint is the rotors went out at 27,K miles, I don't think this is NORMAL. I had them turned, but it didn't help, so I had to get new ones, cost me almost $500.00 to get this fixed. The old ones are all rusty looking and I'm upset. I'm going to contact Kia and complain.I also have terrible paint chips which seem to happen over night, my fenders look bad. It's as though the paint is "soft". I think I'll complain about that too. My Dad was a mechanic so, I do understand the general workings of a auto.

I absolutely fell in love with my car the minute I drove it off the lot. I have told everyone I know to run right out and buy one. Unfortunately my car is horrible in the winter weather. There is absolutely no traction against snow and ice. The added traction button is a false hope as well. I recently had it in for new tires and even the mechanic said it's not the tires, it's the car itself. I hope that in the near future a 4x4 will handle the snow better because I would like to buy another one when my lease is up. But I am highly against anyone getting a 2wd unless you live in warm sunny weather 24-7.

We like our Sorento. It is a beautiful SUV. It has handled the little off highway excursions flawlessly. The warranty experience has been good except we have no dealerships close by and the front brake rotors need to be turned again at 37K. We love the quiet ride. We would like to see the gas mileage improved (it is an SUV) and to have a true FlexFuel (gasoline, alcohol, diesel, biodiesel) capability combined with hybrid technology (electric). We would also like some accommodation made for HAM radio installations (but that is one of our things). The farthest we've taken it is from CA to UT during a hot summer & it kept us cool. So far one of the better vehicles, but 37K isn't many miles.

Recently purchase d05 LX. Color outstanding blue sparkle gray this vehicle has 25000 miles on it. It was a leased vehicle very well maintained. Everything spotless. Have driven similar SUVs and this by far really ranks up there for comfort and performance. 6 cylinder kicks a little punch to it. Gas mileage is definitely the only thing that might be a little weak. But it still is better than a bigger truck or SUV. And looks and comfort are awsome. Lexus lookers stare at it. I laugh. Smiling now.

I bought my Kia new because it gave me so much for such a great price, and I love the look. However, I have had it in the shop for repairs at least 8 times in three years. If they can't replicate the issue they don't acknowledge it. I even created the terrible noise for the representative, but because the service manager couldn't do it, they changed nothing. There are many rattles, I have had to replace the windshield washer twice, the battery had to be replaced, the suspension has had multiple problems. Several lights have been replaced. Nothing huge but all very annoying - I'm looking to get rid of it before something else goes!

We bought our Sorento with 35K on it; it now has over 50K, and we haven't had a single maintenance problem with it. Comfort, cargo space, performance and looks are all excellent. My wife can fit a full load of groceries in the back with a big jogger stroller with room to spare. Snow and wet weather traction are both wonderful. My only complaint is gas mileage. On the highway in the summer, it gets 21- 22mpg (pretty good), but in the city in winter, you're talking 14-16 mpg (OI!). For any family of four or less looking for a good quality SUV for cheap money compared to Honda, Toyota and Nissan, this is definitely worth a look!

The warranty was a major selling point as was the exterior styling (my wife liked that the most). For me the safety was a major factor as my wife is petite and I want her safe. We've had the rotors turned which I don't believe should be necessary and tail light bulbs replaced both at our cost as they weren't under warranty. We've had transmission hesitation, but no break down. We've had the overhead console multi-meter replaced twice to try to get it to be accurate. My wife thinks it is quieter than our Saturn and likes it the best of all the cars we have had. We've also had a few undetermined rattles. Dealerships in our area SoCal have disappeared but a new one opened. So far a good buy.

Overall, I give it a B-. Lets face it, it's no Lexus. That being said, my criticism is this. I am 6 foot tall and 195 lbs. The emergency brake handle is a nuisance, being constantly buried in my right leg. Also, the intermittent wiper switch is noisy and the wiper on the upstroke stops dead center of drivers vision. Paint finish also a little suspect, easily chips. Gas mileage average, 16.5 mpg combined. Nothing has gone wrong mechanically to date, no complaints.

This is a company car; we wanted something fairly new with a warranty and the Sorento fit the bill. I am impressed with the ride, the handling, the comfort (I am 6'8") and the storage. Despite its low horsepower, I find it to be a quick when you mash the pedal. What really impressed me is the storage, all the reviews by car mags complain about the lack of storage but I found it to be more than enough. Dealer service has been exemplary. My personal car is a Lexus LS400, and the dealer treatment approaches the Lexus dealer. With every service they wash the car, amazing. Only complaint is the check engine light.

We have a highly intermittent problem with manual tranny. From time to time we can't shift gears or get the car to move which puts us in a dangerous situation (has happened downshifting in intersections, upshifting pulling out into traffic, etc.)/ As this is a safety defect we are seriously concerned & have reported the problem to KIA & NHTSA. Due to it being an intermittent one, unfortunately when KIA has test driven it they cannot duplicate the problem and refuse to take further action to diagnose the transmission and related components. We are concerned if we trade/sell we are passing an unsafe car to another unsuspecting consumer but we may have no other choice due to KIA's indifference.

The Kia service center at my dealership is also AWFUL! I left a message last Monday with the service manager in regards to some carpet that he had ordered for me in June (yes I have a nice hole in my carpet in my brand new car!) and I still have not received a return call. Not to mention that I have been waiting almost 4 months for them to replace the carpet.

I have owned many cars with many great features but none of them compare to the features the Kia has. The luxury package is worth the extra with the heated seats for the cold winter days and the all wheel drive traction. Best highway mileage 22.5 from RI to PA. Average mixed highway/city 18mpg. Worst mileage 15 - I drove it hard off every light, ramp etc. I have averaged as high as 60,000 miles per year, driving mostly GM vehicles. You can't compare this to a Trailblazer, it's twice as nice at half the price. The $20,000 I saved buys a lot of gas. Mine's a fully loaded EX with almost every aftermarket option Kia offers. Plenty of torque, power to spare. This car wants to run. Baby the pedal on take-offs, let the transmission do the work. Back off on the gas pedal just before it shifts for a little for a smoother shift and watch the gas mileage climb too.

I've had my Kia for a year and I absolutely love it! I had to take it in for a recall for the passenger airbag sensor and also for a broken clip on the seatbelt and in the overhead console. Outside of these minor issues, I have nothing negative to report. The car provides an excellent ride and is comparable to other SUVs in regards to gas consumption. I only have to fill up once a month under local driving conditions. Auto reviews that I have read provide a really accurate description in all aspects. The only negative that I have found, which is exactly what has been reported in reviews I have read, is that you definitely feel the potholes and bumps that you hit. Great deal for the money!

I have owned my Kia two years in Nov 2006, It is a 2005 EX-auto 4X4. It has so many options I haven't found them all...3 garage door opener, compass and exterior temp. Great climate control AC and drove it a year before I discovered the lumbar adjustment for the power leather drivers seat. The 6 disc CD changer and sound system works flawlessly. It would have been outrageous if they had turbo charged the engine. It climbs steep N. Georgia mountain slopes but down shifts twice for more RPM's. It hugs the road in sharp high speed curves pretty well and the AWD kicks in without a hitch. All said, for the money ($27,000) less the power and 15-17 mpg, a full set discs at 12K miles, it's a cool little machine.

We bought our '05 Sorento used with 37k on it (for just over $16K). Exterior styling and safe, sturdy ride along with the warranty sold us on it (we were considering a GMC Envoy too). My wife's sister owns an '03 Sorento, and it's been the most reliable car they have. I'm a gas miser, but this truck has been slightly better than advertised (20-22mpg in mixed driving). Love the cargo room, comfort, and quiet ride. Plastic fender cladding not very sturdy (ripped an edge on a grocery cart return carriage), and I'm taking the truck in for service at 42K next week. We'll see how that goes. Overall, a LOT of bang for the buck. My wife loves it, and that's what's important.

We have had our Sorento for a year and are very pleased. Considered 4-Runner, Pathfinder, Pilot, RX 330 and others. This vehicle is a very competent off roader and is very civilized on the road. I pulled a 4000-4500 pound trailer across the country with NO problems, including over the Rockies, Sierra Nevadas and the Coastal Range. Gas mileage isn't great, little things like the clock and passenger airbag sensor are also not great but the overall build quality is exceptional. We'll see how the car holds up over the long run but when price is a factor this has to be the best mid-sized SUV on the market. If price isn't a factor it is still one of the best. If you are on the fence, test drive it.

In the Oregon mountains, we have lots of snow and this small suv with the big ground clearance out drives our Ford Explorer. Our Sorento has every extra known to man and is $7 to $10,000 cheaper to buy than any suv outfitted as nice. Best of all the Sorento is a pickup truck on a luxury body. It is tough.

So far, so good. It replaced a Chevy Blazer. This is MUCH better. I'm happy with the build quality and engine power. Runs great. I live in the Snowbelt and the 4WD works like a champ. Good fit and finish. Plenty of features and performance for the money. I've had one problem with this vehicle that was caused by ice buildup - they don't get upstate NY winters in Korea - Kia remedied it right away. The service has been top notch.

I have been delighted with this SUV. Comfortable ride, solid construction, all the amenities of a more expensive SUV, e.g., Lexus, BMW. Gas mileage could be better, however, this SUV meets all my needs.

I am sure I will buy another Kia in 2007

I love this SUV. It handles better than my Blazer Extreme did. And it has a lot more room. It is a beautiful SUV. It has good pickup and gets about 20 miles or more to the gallon -- for this big of an SUV that is great. The seats are comfortable and the ride is excellent. I plan to buy another one in a few years. I also test drove a Chevy Blazer and bought the KIA because of the way it drove and handled.

I have a 2005 Kia SUV. After the first service I had a flat tire after leaving the garage and had to pay almost $200 for a new tire. Then immediately the electronic key kept turning on the emergency horn and required more than 24 hours in the garage. I'm not too happy with this car to date. I had a Honda for more then 10 years and never experienced this.

Great little vehicle.

My KIA replaced my old Ford Escape . The KIA rides better and has more power. I pull a 3400 pound boat with my KIA. The KIA has better road handling than the Escape . It has more pulling power at highway speed without down shifts. Over the last 8,000 miles we have averaged 19.2 MPG. This compared to the Escape is 3 MPG better. I have been told that we were working the Escape to the maximum where the KIA is under rated. I believe this is the difference in the 3.5L vs the 3.0L engine.

This is a follow-up to my Four Week Review. It has now been six months and I am very much satisfied with my Sorento EX. Still no problems, and it's still fun to drive. It has become apparent however that at 6' 3" it is a chore to enter the vehicle, as I must lower my head considerably to keep from hitting it on the upper door frame. Once inside, there is plenty of head room, even with the sunroof. For initial comments, see my review of 7/13/2005.

I purchased the Sorento to replace a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had 150K miles. For the cost, the Sorento can't be beat. But be aware that gas mileage is not great. I drive 85 miles a day and have been averaging about 18mpg which isn't bad but a bit lower than my Jeep. I haven't had any issues with the Kia except for one "recall" dealing with the control unit for the passenger air bag. I didn't buy the Sorento for off-roading; but now that winter is approaching I do expect to get to test out its driveability in snow. I don't expect to be disappointed. A good buy!

We drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a Toyota 4Runner. After 6 years and 100,000 miles on the Toyota I convinced my wife to trade it in. She was very reluctant. Never had a problem with it. We test drove several suvs and narrowed it down to the Nissan and the Kia. We really couldn't justify a $9,000 dollar difference. The cars rode exact. The only drawback was the resale value. We figured that with the great warranty the car should be built well enough to last. We didn't know what any one would think about us buying a Kia since we already own a $35,000 Jeep and a $45,000 BMW. Let me tell you that nobody can tell the difference between it and any other expensive suvs. Great buy for the money.

Love this SUV! The size is perfect. I had the Sportage before and it was a little small. The only drawback is the gas mileage, but now that the gas prices have come down, I can live with that. Not only do I love the car, but the stereo system is awesome. Love the fact that I can store the CD's and they are ready to play instantly. My only complaint would be that the gold trim paint seems to chip very easily. I have to be really careful not to hit it with my foot when I'm getting in the car.

I do wish it got better mileage. But it's a small trade off. The sound system is pretty good to. I have added behind the seat pouches for my kids. The sunroof leaked the 1st week I had it and the dealer fixed it with no hassles at all.

I bought the car 9 months ago and since then had a new transmission put in (2 months), new steering wheel (crooked) and a few shimmers and creaks fixed as well as dash rattling. Now the one that kills me is having the harmonic balancer (main pulley) bolt break off while doing 70mph down the freeway and losing power steering and a few other important driving features. Keep in mind that the bolt is connected directly to the crank shaft which is now going to be replaced because KIA doesn't ship complete motors and this after owning it 9 months with only 8000 miles.

Although I was initially pleased with my Kia, the last 8 months have been a nightmare. The vehicle had a series of unrepairable problems including the fuel pump, the passenger airbag indicator, and a stalling malfunction. After contacting the attorney general, my dozen phone calls to Kia Motors were returned. Needless to say, it has been deemed a lemon and will be repurchased. Even if the car was not a lemon, I would never purchase another Kia based on their less than adequate customer service.

I work around some of the most exotic automobiles in the industry, and I can honestly say I get excited every time I climb in my '06 Kia Sorento. With a value package which includes more standard features than any of the competition, quality ratings handed down from Kia's parent company - up and coming Hyundai, an unheard of 60K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, industry leading 100K mile powertrain warranty, unique styling dubbing the Sorento as the "baby Lexus RX 300", and a price that will turn your head ... buyers remorse is a thing of the past. I love the fact that you don't see too many Sorentos on the road. Everyone keeps asking me what it is, or thinks I'm driving an exotic!

This is my second Sorento and I love it more than the first! The accident that wrecked the first one would have killed a vast majority of drivers in other SUV's. I walked away without a scratch and was back on the road in a new one the next day. I am extremely pleased with all aspects of the vehicle. Though a pair of 17 or 18" aluminum rims should be available. My new Sorento is often mistaken for a Lexus because of its awesome styling. The interior is top notch. For the money this is easily the best value available. You can load this thing with all the options, put aftermarket accessories and customize it for less than many other inferior SUVs. A perfect fit for even the most critical buyer.

Bought this after I had my daughter; fits our family perfectly (including a large dog and luggage or other passengers). Very comfortable and practical. Good on or off road so we can go camping or to the city. The only pitfalls are that it doesn't have much 'oomph', so you can only use the 4WD to a certain extent (nothing too steep in the early spring mountains). But if you're going to have a bumpy ride, at least it's cushioned well with lots of things to hold on to. Tons of awesome little hidden storage areas, comfortable to sleep in if necessary (with a Thermarest). Great standard options in both models. Never overlook the great warranty! I love my Sorento.

Probably still early for review. Purchase based on Edmunds review & test drive. Finding driver seat uncomfortable/not enough adjustment for 5'3" female comfort, no lumbar support. Experienced transmission issues at 1500 miles. Unhappy w/ service department knowledge of problem & to fix. Especially disappointed to know that once you purchase, Kia customer service stops there. Service department had for 2 days and took apart and reassembled and symptoms disappeared, but they don't know what the problem was or how they fixed. Biggest issue was brand new vehicle in shop and Kia as a company doesn't authorize loaner or rental. Hoping transmission problem was fluke & Edmunds was right: best mid-SUV value for money.

I was looking for a reliable vehicle and was told about this stylish vehicle and all of its amenities. I have two sons and we are constantly on the go. I have no complaints or issues except for gas prices. and a wimpy horn. Gas mileage has been comparable to the 4 cylinder I traded in. I have more power and have lost only 20 miles to the tank (tanks being same size as previous car). Standard items such as the aluminum wheels and Michelin tires. I would highly recommend this vehicle!

Gas mileage horrible; 12 - 14 mpg, Transmission a piece of junk. They can't even fix it. It's been in the shop over 33 days in the first four months I owned it. Stay away from Kia. Their warranty is great advertising, all fluff no substance. They make you bring it back over, and over again. They will not authorize your car to be fixed. They seldom authorize you a loaner. I was a little nervous in the beginning when deciding what SUV to purchase. The Sorento was the last on my list but impressed me the most. A SUV for $26K fully loaded with leather? I thought it was unheard of, but the Sorento was all that and more. If you are looking for a reliable, spacious, comfortable, classy looking SUV, the Sorento EX should be on the top of your list. People think it's either a Lexus or Mercedes; when I tell them it's a KIA they are shocked! It's great for lugging our newborn around or just a night out on the town for the two of us.

When my wife first suggested a Kia Sorento I was hesitant. My first thought was of the Kia vehicles from 5- 6 years ago. They were not very appealing. However after test driving a Sorento EX I was impressed. The classy design and the roomy interior was just what this family of three needed. The ride is smooth for the most part (a little bumpy on unimproved roads but so are most vehicles). The A/C works great and the handy storage spaces are plentiful. The hood of the vehicle seems to disappear when driving offering great visibility of the road. Add in the fact that the vehicle is equipped with side impact air bags and a weight sensitive passenger side airbag and you have a perfect family vehicle.

I liked the styling of this vehicle because it was close to a Lexus but better in price. I have been a Toyota owner for years and decided to try something different. I should have stayed with what I knew. The Sorento is horrible on mpg. You can actually see it being drained from the tank by the gas hand on the dash. The vehicle is excellent in deep snow but I have had the 4WD fail once at about 40,000 miles and now the cruise has failed at 51,000. It is better on stability than any other 4WD that I have had and I do drive a lot of interstate at 65 mpg. I recently bought a Kia Sorento because I was having problems with my Dodge Dakota that was not covered by warranty. I prefer manual transmissions, so when I saw how nice the interior was, and the performance of the Sorento, I told my husband this is what I want. I saved myself $40.00 a month in payments, and I love how this vehicle gets around. It has a wonderful warranty, and has plenty of room with comfort. The only thing I might have done differently if I did it over would be to get leather for the interior, because I dress up a lot, and it is hard to keep my clothes straight on velour seating, but it feels great. The gas mileage is not great, but neither was my Dakota.

After owning a larger SUV and expending quite a bit in money for continuous maintenance I decided to trade in the old and pick up a little Sorento. Much to my surprise, I've gained a vehicle that is stylish, comfortable, quiet, and just plain fun to drive. Can't say enough flattering things about it.

I love this SUV! It's fun, it's great looking and functional. From camping to picking up groceries ... I couldn't be happier. This is my third Kia; first I had the Sephia, the the Kia Sportage convertible (super fun) and now as my kids are bigger, the bigger Sorento is awesome. Has the same interior as my mom's Lexus!

If you forget about the poor mileage, (you can almost see the dial on the gas gauge go down while driving), everything else is splendid. My wife and I love our KIA Sorento. It looks great, rides well, and has the get-up-and-go that you want in an SUV. The real challenge at KIA is to get more people interested in the vehicle. This SUV truly is a hidden treasure. PS: A side note to the engineers at KIA. Come on guys. In this day and age, with the price of gas sky-rocketing, you've go to do something about fuel efficiency.

Overall very good vehicle. Drives well and handles well. All the features of the luxury package are very enjoyable. Well built for the money you will spend. Had some electrical issues with the overhead display console-temp/altitude etc. Good to see that Kia is using a major brand tire (Michelin). Great Job.

I just recently purchased my Sorento. It is fun and easy to drive. There is a lot of leg room for the driver and for passengers . My boyfriend is 6'4 and fits comfortably in the drivers seat as well as the passenger seat. There are a lot of compartments in the back and a lot of space. I am really happy with my purchase.

For the price you can't beat the Sorento! A truck frame/ Rear-Wheel drive. This blows all the other vehicles in this class away, except maybe the Lexus or BMW. But then again people with a Lexus or BMW won't probably care about mounting a class 3 hitch. If you buy anything else your getting ripped off.

After 3mths of owning this SUV, problems started happening. First a mousy sound comes from the radio console, 2nd my belt screeches from time to time and they can't find a problem, 3rd a paper crumbling noise comes from the dash/windshield area and they tried fixing it 3 times. I give up! 4th, the ac blower was replaced, 5th, a squealing noise from the outside happens when going slow which is the power steering rack and is being replaced, 6th the power window on the drivers side is moving slow and the motor is making a noise, 7th, when accelerating (I have 5 speed) a ringing noise can be heard when the windows are down and 8th, door handles and seat belt holders make noises. I have a lemon!

My new Sorento EX has the luxury pkg, ABS, rear spoiler, trailer hitch and first aid kit options. After some heavy negotiations, my equivalent cost for this $27000+ vehicle was $22000. I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance so far after only four weeks of ownership. A recent 1200 mile trip at speeds of 80-85 MPH produced a shade over 19 MPG. Comfort was great for my 6' 3", with two exceptions: Using cruise control, there is no handy place to rest the right foot, and the parking brake is located where it is in the way for resting the right leg. The ride was good, except for inferior roads, which telegraph most of the bumps. It's too new to evaluate reliability at this point.

My research paid off.

The style and color are unique. I find most other SUV exteriors boring. I am very impressed with the acceleration the longer I own the vehicle. The ride is a bit rough on the small choppy sections of road. I absolutley love the interior. Very practical space, cubbies and niches. A very usable environment without any wasted space. The back seats folds level flat. I had a hard time finding that feature in any other comparable SUV. Climate system is powerful, cools fast and maintains a constant temperature. When placed on cabin air, outside smells and smog go unnoticed. My best experience however, was the dealership. Always treated well and there is never a question of the coverage.

We took it on vacation, most comfortable drive ever.also when stopping at stop lights I enjoy watching people look at it and then they will say nice vehicle. This a real good SUV. Looks smart, runs even better. 3 critisims... 1)Gas mileage is not the best. 2)left front wheel well mud flap interferes with tight turns. 3) Michelin tires are worn at 30,000 inspite of several rotations. This could be a tire issue or suspension problem..I'm not sure which. Overall I like the Sorento vey much. I bought the LX. Next time I will buy the EX for more options.

I am very pleased with the purchase of my new kia sorento. I choose the kia after looking at one that a friend had purchased. I had narrowed it down to three choices, the chrysler pacifica, the nissan murrano, and the kia sorento. The features that the kia offered dollar for dollar was the best value. I liked the nissan murano alot, but was turn off by the fact that it required premiem fuel. The performance is great along with the styling and qulity of workmanship. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great car with comfort and value

Great SUV for the money. In its 2nd year, I did have a problem with my heater not putting out hot air, with my leather wrapped steering wheel coming unraveled, and a prong on my fuse box breaking. The dealer has been no help getting these fixed--I took it to Cartown, got a rental car, and when I came back they said it was ready to go and everything was fixed. I got home and discovered NOTHING was fixed. :( The vehicle itself has been great--you can have little problems like this with any model of vehicle. The dealership has been pretty bad.

But luckily for me I test drove the Kia Sorento for two days and fell in love with it. I have owned my kia for only about three weeks but I know I made the right choice. It had the looks and the right price, it was the whole package.

i'm 6'3" 275. it's just too small for people of this size .i'm always hitting my head on the roof. the seat doesnt go back far enough so my knees are always bent. the transmission shift pattern is too sluggish, overrevs under hard acceleration. oem tires are not good for snow; has to be in 4x4 when there is lots of snow and ice due to loss of traction. It's a Kia not a lexus give it a better price I traded mine in and only got 17,500 with only "4500" miles.what's wrong with that picture!

My wife and I bought our Sorrento by total LUCK!! She saw one, told me about it,and as they say "The rest is history." We did extensive research on it,and felt we couldnt lose. Unforunately,we were slammed on the left side at approximately 40-45 mph knocking us over. The other vehicle as well as my, sorento was totaled and my wife,son(6yrs),myself not a scratch. If safety is a priority, then fear not,We can vouch for it.Safety, looks, overall quality, rest assured WE WILL BUY ANOTHER SORENTO!! Remember at one time Honda was a laughing stock in the car community. If Kia stays on course with their products, they will soon be at the top. Thanks KIA!! Sincerely!!

It has been an excellent upgrade from my 1998 Sportage. It has adequate room for five. It has been excellent for my two young boys. The 3.5l v6 has plenty of power and the with the auto-stick option, it can be definitely fun going stoplight to stoplight. The styling is more upscale than you would expect from Kia. I feel it's more along the lines of the ML series or Lexus and Acura. I always have people asking me about it and complimenting it.

This is our third Kia. We've always been happy with the company, the customer service, the warranties, and most of all, the cars. We had a Sephia, then a Spectra. We decided to look into getting an SUV because we are both musicians, and have a lot of musical equipment that we're constantly hauling here & there. I did a lot of research regarding this decision. Even though we loved Kia, I wanted to make sure we were getting an SUV that we could feel safe in, and that we'd be happy in for a long time. The Sorento had every feature we could've imagined!! Everything is so unnecessarily lavish - I feel so rich just sitting in it! The woodgrain detailing looks so nice, and it is SO roomy!

Nicely outfitted, well laid out but we added leather for an upscale feel. Firm ride with good feedback at speed, pulls our 2-moto trailer 70-80mph no problem. Good power, very smooth shifting 5 speed tranny, generous undercoating, quality alum wheels and Michelin treads. Sharp curb appeal for Saturday nite and capable offroad for sunday fun. Great value at 20k$ otd. Hope the long warranty is a seldom needed plus.

I do alot of mountain driving and the car handles with no effort. The manual trans. is very smooth. No lurching. The ride is very comfortable for all passengers. The interior is extremely quite, it's nice to have a conversation whithout having to yell. The service from the dealership has been exemplary. I very much like the rear seat center shoulder strap safety belt. I don't worry about the middle passenger flying forward. The cargo area is spacious considering the car is small in comparison to the full size suv's I've recommended the car to several people. To date, two other people have purchase a Kia, one a Sorento the other a Spectra. Both seem to be very pleased.

Never thought I would ever buy a Kia. Did TONS of research and after looking at everything got an EX with Luxury Package. Great features for the money, plus the rebates made the truck an awesome deal. Like it more than a friends Lexus 300 which has too soft a ride. Looks great. My wife drives it and the only concern I had was that it would be too "trucky" as she had a Honda CRV, but for almost all her driving which is a mix of highway and city, it is awesome. Fast enough, good handling, and very solid ride but not too bumpy. A little wind noise on Windy days, a little jolt on big bumps but overall A+! Way better than CRV for the $$$. Should get the lux package for the full time 4WD.

We just bought our Sorento two weeks ago and we love it. It's so much more "car" than we thought we would get for the price. Gas mileage is not great, but that wasn't the reason we bought the Sorento. It is loaded with features, drives great (actually, more maneuverable than my old Honda Prelude), looks nice, and fits our budget. Friends and family all are very impressed with the car. We are having our first child later this year and feel like we've got a safe, reliable vehicle to serve as our flagship. I'd highly recommend the Sorento to anyone in the market for a mini- or mid-size SUV.

Researched Toyota Highlander and test drove Hyundai Santa Fe, purchased the Sorento EX. Wanted the added protection of curtain airbags. Added Torque-on- Demand, and ABS breaks, for the best value for my buck. This truck is roomy and attractive inside and out. Handles well, seats 5 comfortably, and offers more than enough cargo space. On the highway the engine light flashed and went off and stayed off. The Sorento was chugging a bit after that, so we took it to the dealer. They said the Sorento needed a new engine. Engine is in, waiting for parts so they say. This is the 3rd week without the SUV. Driving a loaner VW. Until then we loved it. Only 10 months new. Luxury package.

Wife and I just purchased our Sorento EX AWD w/ luxury package and ABS. Had to trade in our Infiniti FX 35 for something less expensive on account of a new member of the family on the way. Make no mistake - this is NOT a Lexus, Infiniti or Acura. It IS, however, an excellent value and hands-down is the best bang for your buck. The ride is very smooth, although the steering is a bit unstable - it feels like if you were going fast enough and you cornered sharp enough, you'd roll over. The interior materials are top-notch - I love the wood grain trim against the leather. We negotiated a good deal on the price - $23,700 walk out including ALL fees, etc.

We are very excited to be the proud owners of a new 2005 Kia Sorento!!! We got a great deal on a great vehicle. We have the luxury package on our Sorento (nice leather and several extras). We have not been able to use the "snow" option yet as the weather has been mild this year. Everything works perfectly and we love the sun/moon roof. This is the first vehicle we have every owned with a sunroof. We look forward to several years of dependable service from our Sorento. Kia has strict maintenance policies to follow to insure the 10 year warranty and we plan to abide by their policy. A great luxury vehicle at a modest price.

We just purchased out Kia Sorento and WOW!, do you we love it. We traded in our 2002 Honda Accord EX and don't miss it at all. The ride to us is equal to the Honda and no rattles, etc. yet to be heard. Great warranty and we hope to keep this one a few years.

Even though we have just purchased this model of kia we have had a sportage for years. I really love this car it is fun, responsive and extremely comfortable. We are getting about 24 mpg, but that is the only drawback. We managed to get everything we wanted in a good sized SUV without spending a fortune. Good value and the headroom and legroom are terrific. My husband and I are both over 6 feet and we have no problem with either. I enjoy this car and would say you can't go wrong buying a Kia they stand behind their vehicles.

This suv is a very good value and the ride is a bit hard, more truck like and the radio is poor and could use an up grade. With the gas price the way it is now, Iwould like to see the next years model get something better than 20-22 mpg

We were owners of a Kia Sportage. We loved it, but really needed something bigger. We simply LOVE this car. It is very classy looking and reliable. It is a great value for what you get! We never had any problems with warranty work on the Sportage, and the same has been true for the Sorento. We are very happy Kia owners! When we first bought the Sportage in 99... everyone wanted to know what it was! Nobody had even heard of Kia at the time! :-) My only regret is the lack of third row seats.

I drive 99 % around town, the other 1% frwy, and off road in the desert. I received $ 5000 off MSRP. Great price for a better than average 4x4. The warranty was the deal closer. Can't beat it. I would truly recommend a KIA to anyone.

I Love it, every where I go people ask me about it ... even other car dealers! I live in the Philly area and drove to the Pittsburgh area 287 miles one way. The comfort, control, power when I needed it, and handling was unparalleled. Sort of like professional athletes talking about being in "the zone" where everything is happening at a high level of performance, yet it doesn't seem to affect you while handling all the obstacles that come your way on some hard (Pennsylvania) highway miles. And the factory premium CD sound system is more than satisfying with whatever type of music you enjoy listening to. Happy trails to you!

Having owned several other mid-size SUV's and then switching to a wagon that I was displeased with, I decided to look again into the SUV market. I came across the Kia Sorento here in Edmunds and after reading the reviews, decided to give it a hands on look-see. On a rainy, cold day in Western NY, the Kia responded very well to the slick, sometimes icy roads, both on the highway as well as the local streets. The acceleration on the highway was seamless up to legal 65 and a notch above - it ran smooth and handled firmly which I liked. Excellent vision from the plush cockpit gives one a full view of outside, while the seating is comfortable yet firm.

I found the Sorento to be very solid and smooth on the road. The controls are easy to reach and well laid out. I bought it for my wife and she loves it. Not too high, but high enough..not too big, but big enough. It's great! Within the price range, it has the most features, the longest warranty and looks the best of all of the other vehicles that we looked at. Coming out of a steep turn requires more manual input to straighten out than other cars I have owned. It's not bad, but noticeable. It is a little rough over bumps and rough roads, but not as bad as some, like the 05 Jeep Liberty that we looked at was worse. We like the tight suspension. This is our first Kia, but not our last!

I made a deal with the dealership to trade from my defective unrepairable '03 Sorento that had major electrical problems to a new '05 Sorento and within 2 weeks of receiving the replacement vehicle I began having major transmission problems. At 10,300 miles now they have tried everything to repair it and now want to replace the transmission. Have had the defective clock replaced 3 times and it still doesn't work. LOOK ELSEWHERE! I really love this car. I was very hesitant to even consider a foreign made auto, but I was stopped next to a sorento Ex at a red light and couldnt take my eyes off. So I immediatly rushed to the nearest dealer to test drive. It is very smooth to drive, and exceptionally roomy. The exterior is aero dynamically designed. I purchased the 2-tone ex model. It is just amazing how many options are standard equipment. Kia has done a superb job. The gas mileage could be better, but it is a small price to pay when safety is involved. Wheel base is short, makes for a slight uncomfortable bump over speed bumps, etc, but overall, this is a fabulous car. All I need now are arm rests

My fully loaded Sorento that I purchased last week was very impressive through a major northeast storm. During a 40 mile commute that lasted 5 hours, I was never uncomfortable. Since I know every road between work and home I left the highway several times to look for a better way, and witnessed people not able to navigate the smallest of inclines, I was tempted to pass the expensive cars known to Greenwhich CT as they fish tailed back and forth but the on coming traffic proved to be a bad idea for passing. The Sorento kept up with every inch with no slipping. Very impressed with handling and comfort.

This is a fun SUV to drive. It turns tightly and maneuvers easily. Gas mileage is ok but much better than the Suburban I used to drive. The seats are comfortable and roomy as well as lots of head room. The Sorento has a quick acceleration and does well in the mountains. At times it rides like a truck when you go over bumps. The interior is noisy. Overall, I could not have gotten a better quality SUV with all the bells and whistles at such a reasonable price.

Vehicle has a sporty feel with a little more road feedback that I find important in a vehicle. Being driven daily and handles well.

It's hard to believe all the features which are standard in the EX model, especially the safety features. This is our second Kia. The first was a 2002 Sedona which was totaled on the freeway in a rain storm. The driver walked away with only 2 minor bruises. After seeing the damage to both cars, we went straight back to a Kia dealership.

We thought it was as good looking as the Lexus at half the price. Plus the great warranty as we keep our cars a number of years. The Kia rides and handles great. My first 600 mile trip and my back felt great. I would like a little bit more power but it pleases my wife who drives it 90% of the time. I love my Sorento. The ride is comfortable and the speed is incredible, worth the fuel expense. I just had one problem with it; at 5,000 miles the spark plugs went bad on it and i was told by the dealership it was a regular "Kia" problem. I also dislike the green lighting on the dash and the CD player, it makes the interior look cheesy. Worth every penny though; it cost a total of $21,000 including the financing! The tiny Toyota Corolla costs the same! I could not find a better deal for a car with the options and power the Sorento gave me.

I've owned this truck since November of 2004 and wow, am I impressed. It handles like a car - very quick and very tight. I remember the test drive and saying to my wife I hope it's not just the demo model that drives this good. It is roomy on the inside. I'm 6' 2" and i have enough room. I really enjoy driving it. The only downer is the lousy gas mileage. The sticker states 15mpg city 20hwy. I mostly drive highway and I'm getting around 14mpg; way off. I've got 2700 miles on it so far. I could only hope it holds up through the years. The torque on demand is fantastic. I would buy this truck all over again.

Did the stop and go run about 15-20 mph on 10 inches snow on the road, went through like a bulldozer, no skidding, zigzagging (SUV equipped with disc brake/abs systems). I am giving a perfect 10 score for this vehicles performance. Also, tested vehicle performance on the highway; handles excellent.

I was impressed by the look, which looks strikingly like a Lexus RX, and by the acceleration. It handles quite well. And has good storage. It starts quickly like it is anxious to get on the road and go. I liked it so much, I bought one! And two friends liked it so much one has bought one, and other is likely going to buy one.

This is a great looking car and a great buy. I bought mine for $21,500. It is an EX with cloth. Great pickup and a pretty good ride. Has the look of a Lexus 330 but for $12-14K less. Ride is about 85% of a 330. But what do you expect for less money.

My husband purchased the 2005 Kia Sorento for me as a Christmas gift and I love it! It looks like a much more expensive SUV and it drives like one, too. I needed the room but did not want to look like I was driving a bus. I have gotten so many compliments on my Sorento - people always think it is a Lexus SUV. When they realize it is not they are surprised. The warranty that Kia provides is one of the best out there. I had an Optima before this car and love the Kia products and I knew that I wanted something bigger and I wanted it to be a another Kia. We found out that the digital clocks had been recalled and needed to be replaced so anyone with a problem just contact your dealer to get a new one.

Overall I have been very pleased with this purchase, it is a great looking vehicle with a comfortable ride and good handling. The only problem I've had is the dashboard clock not keeping time, I have since found out this is a common problem with the '05 model so check that before you leave the dealer. It has taken a while for that part to come in, and although not a big deal in the whole picture, it is an annoyance. Put this vehicle side by side to the Lexus and they look like twins. A good deal for the price.

This is the best SUV for the money. It comes with all the bells and whistles you could possibly want in a vehicle without going overboard. Gas mileage like all SUVs is bad, but you would know this if you were looking at SUVs. The small complaints on this SUV are the rear speakers are weak sounding and the driver's floorboard is shallow for someone with bigger feet. The engine could use more beefing up! Overall, best SUV for the money.

I hate to beat up a good thing but the wind noise in my Sorento sounds like the rear windows are cracked for ventilation. After tow visits to the shop it's still the same. I really do like my Sorento, that's what is so bad. I would recommend this car to friends if they didn't mind the wind noise.

I love my Sorento even though I intially thought an SUV would be too big and awkward to drive but I needed something bigger - more room. The warranty is one of the best out there. It handles just like a car so I don't feel like I am driving this big piece of machinery. It looks far more $$$$ than it really is. Several people thought it was a Lexus or Acura! After driving two Explorers for the past nine years, it was time for a change. Dollar for dollar the Sorento puts the Explorer to shame. Although I would like for the MPG to be better, overall I could not be happier. Style, comfort, options, warranty, price, the Sorento has the competition beat hands down. If you're looking for an SUV, I would seriously consider a Sorento.

Rough ride on dirt and bumpy roads but good trade off for other comforts of car. Excellent warranty. I liked the 3 tone EX, leather seats make it even nicer. Has nice features that were well thought out, Enjoy driving this SUV; it does drive very smooth on the open road (maybe top smooth, received several tickets lately). Will stick with this SUV for a long time. Very satisfied.

Handles well, very solid feel. You can feel the higher weight in the ride and when you hit potholes, just absorbs it. Interior hip room is great, especially in the back seat with a carseat in the middle(mid-seat 3 pt. belt great for kids to see road too). Looks like a Lexus, very similar features in general, but at 19K, well worth the investment. Smooth acceleration and fun with the 5-auto w/shifter. Looks as strong as it drives.

After researching for nearly two months for my new SUV, I finally found the best built car and most comfortable to drivein its class. The looks of the car are head turning and the performance has been great. Although I have only the car for less than a week, I have zero regrets for my final decision. I had test driven the View (tinny and cheap feeling), the Pathfinder, 4Runner and Pilot, and wasn't sold on any of them. Although my needs changed throughout my search (thought I'd like the 8-seat potential), but always left the dealerships unimpressed. The value and performance of this SUV are unbeatable. I have driven a Jimmy for the past four years, and am glad to finally be out of it!!

More power, better seating position (very Comfortable), better build quality, better handling and a much more handsome vehicle. The Subaru seemed tinny and cheap by comparison. I can't believe how impressed I am with my Kia Sorento. It's low priced, and I thought surely we were getting suckered, but after 6 months of driving it, and 3 long trips later, I am so pleased. You can fit 3 full-sized car seats in the backseat and there's room for all 3 to be hooked up to LATCH. And you can lock the windows, so 3 year olds can't throw stuff out while you're not looking. Side impact beams and side curtain airbags help my peace of mind as well, and when you really need to cram stuff in for a trip, this car (SUV, whatever) sure can take it. It will also hold 3 diaper bags, I double stroller and a regular umbrella stroller with no problem. AND there's a luggage rack too.

I thought KIA's were cheap disposable cars. Then we went and tried a test drive. It wasn't too bad after all, and the warranty was excellent. We do have a problem with the clock. the dealer says he has 16 on backorder so I guess this is going to be a major problem for the folks at KIA if the failure rate on them is this high at 1 dealer.. We also had a shudder in the drive line when starting from a dead stop; the dealer took out some rubber blocks that were in the words of the dealer "made too soft" for the application. Problem solved. We only have 3,000 miles on the truck now and hope this will be as good of a car when it has 130,000 miles on it!

I had to have it!! The looks, the quietness, the cd/radio, the comfort, the nice drive, the warranty .. it was all there! Plus, it's $10K cheaper on avg. than the other luxury SUVs I researched. I also feel very safe with the pass. & side airbags (I also got anti-lock brakes.) I really feel that I got the best SUV available today, and that it happens to be affortable. I traded-in the 2003 trail blazer with too soft suspension and lots of wind noise. The Sorento drives much better with lesser wind noise and suspension is feels firmer, yet it rides smoothier. The seat is much more comfortable, and inside looks roomier and better quality. After all, it cost about $10K less. The engine is not as powerful as I wish. However, it delivers enough for a very smooth ride.
